it’s wild that the entire plot of the Nimona movie only happened bc The Director felt threatened that an unfair system she thoroughly believed in was making a change to be more inclusive, causing her to overreact in a desperate attempt to preserve her ‘way of life’ by ultimately causing more harm not to just the people she held a prejudice against, but to everybody
this movie is an unapologetically trans and/or queer allegory story from head to toe

Alastor: A Fairly Predictable Enigma
I love how Alastor is written in the sneak peek.
Alastor waited until a prime moment of vulnerability from Charlie before he revealed that he knew angels could be killed. (Hey, we all know it, context clues, baby)
Tumblr media
And here’s why he did it. Alastor may be seen as unpredictable, but he does have a code he follows.
It wouldn’t have made sense for him to tell Charlie as soon as he found out, he waited until this moment — for Charlie to be at her wits end before he offered the option.
Tumblr media
Charlie is a firm believer in her plan for redemption. She’s a pacifist. It doesn’t matter what they have done or when they did it, she believes they can turn their lives around and be better.
So, Alastor was amused by the princess who boasted about her plan, took everything with a smile and unbridled optimism. She basically practiced everything he preached.
Alastor respects that.
Tumblr media
Alastor even acknowledges this. He never expected Charlie to give up. To wallow in pity over a loss no matter how big.
Tumblr media
With her firm beliefs comes a difficulty in getting her to try something different. Charlie’s behavior is so engrained in her very being that she will refuse to go against it.
If Alastor were to tell her before she went through everything she did in this season: being laughed at and ridiculed, having her beliefs questioned by the determining powers that have influence over her success, being confronted by a rigged system and being lied to by the person she trusted most —
She would have never listened.
Killing angels would be the last thing she would consider, and even then she would actively prevent this from happening if she had known about it earlier.
Charlie had to be battered by the world to see a new perspective. You can only rebuild what has been broken. She had to confront the world and all its flaws, break out from her delusional bubble and see things for how they actually are.
All of Charlie’s complaining about her stresses and basically giving up is what makes Alastor share that angels can be killed. Charlie sees the world for how it is and wants to give up.
Alastor can’t let that happen, so now that she’s out of options, the only thing she can do now is fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alastor knows this all too well and takes advantage of it. If Charlie gives up, he no longer gets to see how this story plays out.
If he didn’t care, he would have left a long time ago (unless Lilith is commanding him to stay, which I firmly believe and I will die on this hill).
Alastor may not care for the patrons of the Hotel, but he does love a show, and what better than a war against Heaven?
Episode 7 and 8 are going to be amazing, I can’t wait until Thursday!

My translation of the lyrics to "Rokutousei" by Zarame
A NOTE ABOUT THIS TRANSLATION: The lyrics in Japanese are ambiguous about the pronouns on purpose so that they can apply to so many characters in multiple ways (AND THEY SHOULD). As with many English translations of songs and poetry, I took creative license to translate these lyrics in the way that hits me hardest and you know what way that is.
Also I need you to understand before you read this that a "sixth-magnitude star" is the faintest brightness of a star detectable to the human eye. That makes the chorus something of an oxymoron, where the singer is singing about a bright light being swallowed by a dim one.
Kanji:
Romaji:
kiechaitai kurai no rokutousei no matataki ichiban-boshi wo kakikesu you na kimi no koe wo sagashiteru
kiechai sou na hodo chiisana inochi demo ichiban-boshi wo kakikesu you na kimi no koe wo sagashiteru kimi no koe wo sagashiteru
Translation:
The profile of a face with traces of tears that won't disappear lingers in my memory* In a brief moment when I wouldn't let my guard down to even be confused I trembled with anger
It's like a place I return home to That doesn't mean I met you just to lose you With your voice, your words, Light up my heart with gentle warmth
I guess this is where I disappear** My life is running out*** I can't shine on you My light is useless****
I just want to disappear Like the twinkling of a sixth-magnitude star drowns out the first evening star I'm searching for your voice
I guess this is where I disappear** Like how even the smallest life drowns out the first evening star I'm searching for your voice I'm searching for your voice
*This phrase is an idiom that reads literally as "to remain in one's eyelids" but means "to live on in one's mind, to remain in memory." **Literally, "It seems like the point at which I disappear." ***Literally, "Life is lacking." ***Literally, "There's no meaning in my light."

I genuinely can't predict what's going to happen to Misraaks. The death flags are all there, it's so predictable just like Rasputin, but part of me is hoping beyond hope Bungie pulls an "All Might" and allows him to live.
A "restorative justice" theme doesn't require the "death of a mentor/parent" trope, Bungie. Don't be cowards.

Things My Partner Knows About The Locked Tomb Through Osmosis
I am an unrepentant and annoying TLT fanboy, to the point where my partner has sworn to never read the books on principle (for this I respect them). However, given that I never shut up about these miserable books, they have picked up quite a bit of knowledge about them purely through my rants. With that in mind, I asked them to describe to me everything they think they know about The Locked Tomb (notes in italics are mine)
There are characters named Gideon, Nona, and… something like… Pacifica Sales Bonecruncher of the West? I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be Harrow's full name and title.
It's a scifi-fantasy world in a necromancy space realm
There's… 10 kingdoms that are all part of an Empire? Or maybe houses? But they're part of a monarchy?
The ruling classes of each of the realms gets summoned by God because they want to play a Hunger Games thing to find their… new God child?
It's not a God child like he's gonna adopt them… it's like rebirthing them into a new god? They will also become God?
Each one of the realms has a special quirk about them, something that's their specialty. Like, one realm are accountants. Shockingly accurate.
Gideon and Pacifica’s realm are like cool goth themed? More goth than the others. Extra-goth.
Oh there's a person named… Electra? They have long blonde hair and kickin curves and they're really hot? Everyone likes them? I'm pretty sure this is a conflation of Alecto and Corona as seen through reblogged fanart.
Personal philosophy aside rant: The whole necromancy-as-center of-an-empire thing… I find it kinda rude? I don't like the idea of people and their remains being used as a resource/tool. Like, I don't like using people as interchangeable cogs in a machine under someone else's control, both in life or in death. It doesn't seem consensual or respectful. In death your obligations should be released.
I think Gideon has a big hero’s death while trying to save Pacifica, and then their… souls mingle? And then after that Pacific has Gideon-flavored intrusive thoughts? And I'm not sure if it actually is Gideon or just, like… the same as if you stare at the sun and get the after image burnt into your cornea. This isn't wrong, but I'm almost certain part of this is actually my ramblings about Baru Cormorant leaking through.
Is reincarnation or resurrection a thing? I feel like it should be in a necromancy setting.
DIRECT QUOTE: “Is there a Jesus allegory in here? I feel like there is. Wait... Is Gideon Jesus?” Folks, upon hearing these words casually spoken out loud by someone with no knowledge of context, I straight up left my body.
God is just a chill dude. He's just a guy making pancakes, and occasionally he'll go “How's that whole Hunger Games thing going? You want a snack? I'm just gonna be over here.”
God was wanted by aliens or something? There's something bigger going on with entropy or heat death or the Discworld auditors and it's a problem for God and that's why he's doing the whole Hunger Games thing.
I think God used to be not a God and that's why he's such a chill dude. And then there was a problem and everything was dying so he did something and necromancied everything and that's why he's God now and also why things are so weird?
One of the groups from the houses was two annoying siblings who split from the party and died really quickly.
Gideon is big and bulky and has short red hair.

This is for you! I really like your umineko fanfics. It’s a little bit wonky, since I had to transfer it to ibis paint from paper, but I hope you like it.

VM vs M9 is so fucking funny, actually.
The M9’s dead friend (bc it’s Molly, not Kingsley) is suddenly brought back and is as powerful as Lucien (who was a bitch for them to fight, even before Aeor), and none of them bat a fucking eye. If anything, Beau seemed somewhat ANNOYED that it was Molly and not Caduceus (which…fair, but he’s been proving himself so far, so)
Also, neither of the clerics actually clericing
Also, Fjord almost dying immediately (which makes me think that it might’ve been a good thing that Caleb isn’t in this fight, bc he’d be dead within the first round lmao)
Also, just…everything about it. I didn’t realize just how much I missed some of these chucklefucks until I started this episode. I literally have not stopped smiling, and I’m only halfway through.
