First writing! Now I hope you see me talking about my favorite character
revali headcannons x neutral reader!!!
Typical story where enemies end up being a couple
Revali normally brags about himself, he does it without thinking but there is usually someone who brings him down from the clouds
When he met you, he was more impulsive than ever, he already knew what to say to impress or do, so he started messing with your appearance
When you started to contradict him and mock his answers, he simply stayed silent, silently grumbling to the other champions.
Yes, you were with the champions being another knight that the princess appointed
As you see each other's faces almost daily, you could see the tension between the two of you. He wasn't used to being quiet, much less humiliated!
There was a day when he couldn't stand it and ended up angrier, yelling in your face. I think this man has a pretty fragile ego.
And since the others clearly noticed this problem, you were the one who did not allow himself to be degraded, while he could not stand it when someone finally put him down
Zelda, Mipha and Urbosa were the ones who seemed more worried than the men, the two of them just stayed watching.
There was one day when they did have to stop them since the truth is that listening to them with the same thing every day was tiring, and they also ended up with some feathers on the floor.
Maybe he began to understand how hard he was on you and his comments since he always ALWAYS saw you training much harder before him.
He noticed a change in you when he stopped making those comments about others and you.
You were sweeter than I thought, I thought you were someone with a strong character just because you treated him that way.
But he stopped doing it and became more serious about how others saw him and what they thought of him as a person.
It practically stopped being something believed and became less competitive
The fights stopped, they almost ended, they still had their little roses but they were more jokes than anything.
Maybe they don't know it, but others think they have a lot of chemistry behind all that.
Maybe, I don't know, maybe someone told him that they like you cof Cof COF... Zelda.
She couldn't stand it anymore, you told her and she couldn't stand it and ended up telling her, telling her to keep it a secret.
When Zelda told him, his feathers fluffed up and became bigger, along with something else.
Since that moment he doesn't accept him in a certain way, anyone in love with him? He was being consumed by doubt.
Since then he thought more about you and became softer with you and others, keeping his comments to himself.
But I thought more if he felt the same as you, although every time he thought about you it was sweeter?
Thanks to that little push that Princess Zelda gave, the arguments between you ended.
You and revali solved your problems although it was more him saying sorry more than anything.
Remember that those were the only sorrys and sorrys you will ever hear from his peak.
This man is very cheesy when starting a relationship, it seems like he treats you like a trophy, in fact you are one for him.
When there was nothing to do in the castle, they went to Rite Village to stay until the princess called them all back.
The first glances did not take long to arrive, the fact that you are not a ritual gives others some curiosity.
This man planned EVERYTHING. before you arrive since they had 2 hammocks (in case you wouldn't like to sleep next to it). Double everything in your house itself.
This man seems like a total foreigner. You asked him and he responded with "I don't waste my time on such small things."
Maybe if you decorate or carry your things, he wouldn't stay, he has a lot of things to do before that
This man doesn't know anything about gastronomy, maybe he only knows how to do the minimum for himself but when you came into his life he literally exploded with flavors.
He loves to eat anything you make, every time you cook he finishes he loves it
Once they were sleeping together, the hammock couldn't support their weight and they ended up sleeping on the floor. They were really exhausted that day.
Just because I have a giant ego doesn't mean I can't be cheese That man has a way of calling you silly names.
"Honey?" "lover?" How basic is it to say it He wants something original to make you feel special , the center of the world. He want to make a pun with your name but he can't do it...yet
One day they were on a mission with Princess Zelda looking for endangered flowers.
Revali didn't know anything about it at the time but he saw one in the grass, grabbed it, and gave it to you saying
"With all my heart I give this to you, Y/N. Could I pollinate your flower?
This is what I mean this man is not ashamed of how cheesy he can be
That day Princess Zelda was going to kill Revali with her own hands for the flower
Well they found others so there wasn't that much of a problem.
Most of the group think that they will end up married, although they remain silent about it.
NSFW!!!
This man doesn't know how to do anything!
If you are going to do it the first time, you will be very nervous, both of you would be in trouble.
He doesn't even know how to masturbate, how to take direction, etc.
But rest assured that he will be the first at the top.
If you were a man, be sure of that, you don't want to be labeled as a passive twink.
You'll probably have to encourage him to barely take off his pants.
The first time they didn't last at all, maybe 1 or 2 minutes.
They were both totally ashamed of their skills since he barely lasted the first minute before cumming
He likes how sexy your body is to him.
Aftercare? You'll have to do it, he'll be a nervous wreck after that.
His weak point is his neck, don't ask.
Well here we finish 🐬💗🌈🦄
That man who does everything to me except leaves me
I'm sorry if this seems out of place for some of you 😭😭😭 I do what I can.

A Revali Fanfic Recommendation
I urge you all to put your life on hold for a moment and go read this brilliant fanfiction:
A hundred years after the fall of Hyrule to Calamity Ganon, and the hero Link has finally sealed the darkness and freed the Divine Beasts of their curse - and with it, their pilots are finally free. But not just as spirits. Awake once again, the four Champions of old have a second chance at life and must re-adjust to this future world with their decendants. Well - all except for one Champion, who doesn't have a decentant. Or even anyone left alive that knew him. Teba is happy to take in his revived ancient idol as one of his own, but sharing a living space with a hundred year old Champion with an ego the size of his divine beast and who might have some issues he's not willing to share can be a lot sometimes and they don't always see eye to eye. Revali thinks he should return to leading the new generation of Rito warriors. Teba thinks this actual child should never have been leading warriors or fighting a war in the first place. Tulin is just excited to have the infamous Rito Champion in his house.
Beautifully written and lovingly crafted, this baby can fit so much trauma and whump into the most gut-wrenching and heat-breakingly found family story you may ever read. 130,000 words, 36 chapters (and still regularly updating!), and a CRIMINALLY low number of kudos. If that doesn't sway you, here is some gushing under the cut <3
You think you've read a champions revival fic before? This will have you saying "how the FUCK have I not seen this before" and completely change the way you view everything (mild exaggeration. m i l d). We have all of your favourite revali tropes: being a dick and getting owned, being a dick and being right, getting own and never showing those feelings to the light of day, getting killed, getting unkilled and loved, showing emotions but being super weird and revali about it, bonding with tulin!!, bonding with teba and the rest of rito village, bonding with the champions, having panic attacks and trauma, vah medoh being the best ever, being a terrifying force of nature, being an idiot kid, and so much more!
Do you like grumpy dad teba? Do you like revali swallowing his pride? Do you like revali immediately spitting his pride back up and being a bitchy bird? Do you like mipha and revali as gossip buddies? Do you like the complete and utter fool revali makes of himself everytime he so much as hears the name link? Do you like people seeing right through his facade and calling him out on it?
AND NOT TO MENTION THE WORLD BUILDING??? this fic is so in depth of the political climates, racism, lore, changes in culture during times of war, colonisation, biology of the races and just fucking everything?? It adds so much life to the world of hyrule I am genuinely shocked at how much this person clearly loves these games (botw/totk/aoc) and they are able to incorporate all of this amazing information in a way that flows so naturally and just hhrnngngg I am fucking insane about it. THE SCIENCE, oh my god how did I forget all the wonderous thoughts surrounding the divine beasts and the sheikah tech, oh god and how they write the magic system? Guys I swear it's so good.
Characterisation is on point, everyone feels so full of life and that they are reacting exactly how you would expect them too, and they just seem so real, like they are right beside you as you're reading. The author does an IMMACULATE job of drawing you in and making you feel a part of the story, all the while being just beautifully written?
Don't get me started on the attention to rito culture. I have never seen someone pour so much love into something before, genuinely on of the greatest things I've seen. I've always had a fascination over how the races of hyrule view each other, similarities and differences, how their cultures and histories intertwine, and conflicts that may arise. But oh. my. god. My jaw was on the floor every time, it's so rich and beautiful but not without the horrors (and oh god, they are Horrors tm) and again it's just so real!!!
Be warned, however, that there is gore and viscera and terror and hurt and war crimes and death (duh), but for each terrible thing to happen it is repaid tenfold in love and kindness somewhere down the line. (Unless you are into hurt no comfort, then sorry buddy!) It is a beautiful narrative and the exploration of trauma and self is mind boggling and just go read it!!! 😭 😭 😭 I just love this fic so much, it has instantly sky-rocketed to one of my top 3 favourite fics I've ever read, and I'm so grateful to have found it and now be along for the ride that if I could bring that to one more person then by god I will fucking do it
#seriously guys PLEASE check it out the author deserves so much love (they got SHOT at one point during the writing lmao)#(accident with a crossbow and they are fine now dw!!)#anyway i just love this so fucking much i hope this finds the right people so they go fucking read it!!!#okay enough rambling time to tag... oh god#botw revali#revali botw#revali#champion revali#botw#breath of the wild#legend of zelda#loz botw#teba#teba botw#tulin#tulin botw#tulin totk#link botw#revalink#link x revali#zelda#zelda botw#urbosa#urbosa botw#daruk#daruk botw#mipha#mipha botw#fanfic rec#vah medoh

Ello! I was wondering if you are still doing Legend of Zelda requests. If so I’d like to ask for a rather simple topic. How would our precious bird boi Revali, And if you can Teba and Tulin (Tulin platonically of course), react to a Rito Reader who lacks the ability to fly? It’s not discussed how or why the reader cannot fly, if they were born with the disability or if they lost it, either way they are now the first earthbound rito to live in Rito village. Would they try and help her, or would they listen to the new ways reader has learned to get around hyrule without even needing to fly. Would they tease her or feel pity? Really I just want to see how they would react to see someone without the ability they pride themselves for. Thank you for listening and thank you so much if you do this request!
Love, me 💚

Revali was making fun of you at first. Rito who cannot fly? Pff, are you even a rito then??
It was for a long while, untill he heard you talking with other person from village about all the difficulties you have with such disability...
Revali felt ashamed after that... he knew that it wasn't exactly his fault that you can't fly, but he couldn't help it. What if he lost ability to fly or was born without it...? Damn, life would be boring and useless for him then...
Next time you met, rito champion asked if you can go with him. Turned out, he found a spot on rito territory, where wind feels as if you are gliding in the sky... he watched how your feathers flattered and smile appeared on your face...
Revali cannot explain it, but since then he started looking for such places if he was in other parts of Hyrule, telling you about them then you meet.
If he happened to travel with you, he mostly kept close to the land, so you could talk, occasionally raising up in the sky to be "your eyes" as warrior called it. Mostly helping to find direction or place to make a stop at.
He was interested in how your life changed, what were you doing now and how you travelled. Revali tried to not raise questions about your flying ability, cursing himself if he made too harsh comment about how much shame it is that you cannot join him on his flying trips.
He even asked Zelda and champions if where are devices that could help you...

Teba's heart aches every time he sees you. Man isn't one to show emotion easily, but sight of you walking on your two just to get from one place to another... it makes him sad.
He saw you not once, while you were walking around rito territory. Where everyone flew, you walked on foot. It was confusing for him, till he confronted you about it. Warrior regretted it moment explanation left your mouth.
You sounded like you were over it, at least you tried to sound so. But he saw how hurt you looked, watching young birds learn to fly...
Teba would protect you if other villagers start acting rude around you.
He probably would ask Link to tell him where he got paraglider or even Purah to make something for you.
If it works, he would happily help you get used to it. It not, rito warrior will gift you something else, that would remind you that you are just as much rito as he and others, even if you cannot fly.

Tulin, oh sweet boy.
First thing first, he didn't know it's possible. Then Tulin asked you about it, he wasn't ready to get such answer. He apologized.
Boy went to his parents, asking what he can do for you, then they didn't have ideas he went to Link and Zelda.
Young rito and hero of Hyrule decided to teach you use paraglider.
If it works out well, he will take you to the places he likes, helping you rise up with his ability.
If not, well... he tried. But! Tulin will be happy to hear about your life. He is so damn curious about your everyday experience.
Tulin would be so happy if you explained him how you travel, or how you get to the places he would normally get by the sky. He even tried to travel with you, but his legs got tired with so much walking.
Young sage would visit you often, introduce you to his parents, Link, Zelda and other sages in case you will need help in other regions.
He will also show you his ability, sometimes fooling around and blowing wind at you. It becomes kind of your 'hello' with him.
Requests are open

Very dumb BOTW AU idea with Dad Teba.
Link wakes up early from the shrine of resurrection Zelda doesn’t notice as not expecting him to wake up for good few years, Link somehow ends up at Rito village with no memories and no idea what’s happening.
Teba finds him and is like ‘Whose feral child is this?welp guess mine now’
Link spends years in Rito village until when he was actually meant to wake up.
Zelda communicating with the shrine of resurrection only to find it empty 'you must save hyrule you..Link?...Link?...WHERE IS HE? ‘
Link eventually finds out about his mission and that he is the champion
Teba: No way you can’t go fight the divine beasts that would be insane!
Saki:…
Saki:Yes! Who would be stupid enough to do that
Teba:…um
Link frees Vah Medoh and realises he has to defeat Gannon and doesn’t want his dad to get hurt again so he goes off alone…. Or he thinks alone Tulin snuck into his pack. He wanted to help.
He and Sidon have the my big sibling is the best competition, and the I’m Link biggest fan competition.
Saki and Teba figure out their kids have gone off and so they go off after them.
Link is fighting another Divine beast
Link: Oh man I am dead
Saki in the distance: YOUNG MAN YOU ARE SO GROUNDED
Link:…
Link:OH I am actually dead
Mad Mom is much angrier than divine beasts or any of the blights
Revalink Bonus: Link gets his memories back/remembers feelings for Revali (Now that he knows more Rito customs and a better understanding realises Revali was flirting/courting him)
Teba finds out and is now trying to figure out how to give a shovel talk to someone whose already dead?
Bonus: Revali comes back and doesn’t realise link knos all the rito customs and so starts doing courting stuff and doesn’t realise Link knows what he’s doing now

BotW/TotK men as dads
i have baby fever that won't go away
anyway, here's a... something
enjoy <3
Link
oh it’s gonna be wild
most rambunctious child (including Rivan’s)
sweet and caring
but overall, CHAOTIC
will teach his child literally everything he knows
not many words are spoken, but there’s so much love
sign language is a big thing for sure
hugs galore
will defend his child as if his life depended on it
Sidon (i have so many for Sidon, so only adding a little bit here)
so confident
yet so scared
lots of learning
gentle
the love in the household is UNREAL
takes his kid everywhere Mipha took him
the fun is never ending
Bazz
so much unlearning
scared he’s not giving his child enough attention
wants to spend all of his time with them
think’s he’s not good enough of a father
doesn’t know how to have deep; meaningful conversations
doesn’t want to be like his own father
loves and cares SO deeply
once he gets past all the heavy stuff, he’s the best dad a kid could have
Rivan
already a dad, and a good one at that
literally so on top of his game
others cannot compare
takes his kid to work and shows them how cool everyone is
“Bazz is a little on edge because you’re here, but we won’t worry about that.”
the fun dad
Dunma babysits sometimes to give Rivan a break
but he ends up not going anywhere because he loves his little family THAT much
silly af
an actual dilf
perfect father
100000/10
Ledo
so gentle
so kind
will literally gift his kid rocks that look cool
teaches them everything Dento taught him
would probably ask Dento to babysit
has the most well behaved child out of anyone on this list
another apprentice in the making
would hand-make his child toys
Revali
asshole stepdad energy to start with
lots of unlearning
lots of re-learning
scared shitless
once he eventually realizes his actions have consequences, he’ll own up to his mistakes
ends up being a cool dad
“don’t talk to me or my son ever again” energy
takes his child to the flight range everyday
“You’re the best, and don’t forget it.”
Teba
already a dad, and a cool one
Tulin is such a good brother (but man is he a little shit sometimes)
the kids would go to the flight range and Teba would let them go by themselves
not like he has a village to run or anything…
a little more strict than the others on this list, but it’s out of love and safety
trusts Tulin to take care of his younger sibling
goes with both of them to the flight range once every two weeks to watch what they’ve been working on
wants the best for his kids
but doesn’t want to get in the way of their fun
Daruk
a cool dad
wise
also fun
would be the one to take his child to the skatepark
Goron City better watch out, because these two are fly af
funny dad jokes
would call his kid ‘kiddo’ unironically
“kiddo goro”
Yunobo
i cannot see this one as a dad
more like the distant uncle
but he’d be so sweet
and so caring
so afraid he’d fuck up
needs constant reassurance
gentle af
takes things too personally
Tauro
THE cool dad
dilf energy for sure
would take his kid to research the Zonai ruins
and he’d probably end up losing them 30% of the time
don’t worry, they know where they are
uses his research and findings for teaching his child
these two would be the most knowledgable people in Hyrule
Rauru
the wise one
and SO chill
and helpful af
only takes part in chaos if it’s the fun kind
will shut down ANY ‘funny business’
defends his child with his life
together they pick flowers for Sonia
the love is unmatched
and the surprises are never ending

Trust Fall (Revali X Reader) - Part 1
Word Count: 2,780
Pairing: Revali X Reader (Female)
Fandom/Universe: Legend of Zelda (Breath of The Wild)
Themes/Content: Romance (Slow Burn), Fantasy, Action.
Warnings: None
Synopsis: You visit your friend in Rito Village in order to escape the sense of dread looming over your home of Castle Town as the prophesied doomsday slowly grows closer. It is here on your visit that you meet a Rito warrior who turns your world upside-down.
Authors Note: Finally got round to writing this! Since he's not mentioned in TOTK at all I just had to start a fanfic for him. I miss him so much. I'm uploading this from my laptop so if the formate is weird or there needs to be more paragraphs just let me know! I don't consider myself a pro on Zelda lore so I do apologise for any mistakes. Also, this fan fiction will have two endings! (One canon to BOTW and one canon to Hyrule Warriors) Other than that, I hope you enjoy! - I don't know what to call myself... should I go by my username? What about something stupid like Loafus?... I don't know... I'll work on it 🪶🤎
Rito Village was your second home. You felt so much comfort and associated the place with such a feeling of warmth, it was surprising you hadn't made it your permanent residence. When it came to Rito Village you only had positive memories.
This was mostly due to your best friend, Frita, being a rito. The two of you had met at a very young age and had been best friends ever since, visiting each other every couple of weeks or whenever you had spare time. She would teach you about the ways of the rito and you in turn would teach her about hylians. Frita truly was like a sister to you, and you loved her more than words could say.
"Daydreaming again?", her voice broke you from your thoughts, her bright blue eyes sparkling with joy. You blinked a few times, finally registering her words, and you couldn't help but giggle to yourself. "Yes, I guess I was". "What we're you daydreaming about?", she asked, turning her attention back to the salmon sizzling in the village's communal cooking pot, the aroma swirling through the air, making your mouth water in anticipation. Later in the night was the perfect time for cooking here as most ritos had gone to sleep; Their poor night vision meant that many would retire early in the evening. "Just thinking about flying", you confess sheepishly and Frita rolled her eyes playfully, responding with, "You're always thinking about flying". "I can't help it whenever I'm here. You all look so majestic and free", you gushed. "I would love to be able to experience what it's like to fly for myself instead of having to be on your back". "Perhaps if you pray to Hylia enough she'll allow you to become one of us", she chuckled and you couldn't help but laugh along with her. Frita eventually added the tebantha wheat to the pot and the goat butter as the two of you talked about everything under the stars. "Are you still planning on moving to Hateno Village?", she asked as she began to plate up your dinners. "Yes, unfortunately. It means I'll be further away from you", you mumbled and Frita's face fell in disappointment. "It's the best option as, if this impending doom really is to show itself one day, the city centre is most likely one of the first places to be attacked. If I could, I'd love to live here with you". "Well, why don't you?". You shook your head. "You know I'd stick out like a sore thumb here. I wouldn't be able to pull my weight or help the village in any way. I'd be more of a burden than anything". "Perhaps not! If I could find a way for you to easily integrate into life here, would you move here?". The more Frita spoke, the more you felt a warmth spread through your entire being. "You'd have me, you'd be well protected- our warriors are exceptional, there's plenty of food and resources in the area… just don't make any final decisions to move just yet. Allow me a chance". You chuckled, taken aback by your friends willingness to help you and keep you by her side. "Okay, I'll give you a chance".
You cut yourself short when you noticed movement out of your peripheral vision. The gentle padding of talloned footsteps grew closer and bright emerald green eyes encased in bright red watched from the darkness. Finally a rito came into view. "Rather late to be cooking, don't you think?". His tone was sharp and precise, you couldn't tell if he was making small talk or if he was irritated with the fact that the two of you were occupying the cook pot. Did he usually use it at this time? "Oh! Revali! Sorry, did you want to use the cooking pot", Frita asked, a light quality to her voice as she politely addressed him, yet an awkward silence seemed to settle over the three of you as his eyes travelled from her to settle on you, staring down his beak right into your very soul. "Who is this hylian?", he asked bluntly. "This is my best friend. She's visiting for a short while", she informed him of your name and that you were from Castle Town. "Would you care to join us?", you then offered, cutting through the awkward pause in conversation. "We have plenty to go around". Frita cut you a glance, surprised by your sudden offer, but did not protest, adding "Yes, do join us! I'm assuming you've just finished practice? You must be famished". Revali opened his beak but quickly shut it, perhaps to reject the offer but thought better of it. He took a moment to smooth out the cream scarf around his neck. "Well, if you insist, I suppose I could join you", he hummed, making his way to sit across from you.
As he took his seat, he placed a beautifully crafted bow to his side, coated in vibrant colours and intricate designs, a scrap of teal fabric tied to one end. He held himself with pride, sitting tall, spine straight, shoulders squared. With the fact that he was taller than you, it was a little intimidating. "Have you visited our village before?", he asked, and it took you a second to realise his question was directed towards you. "Oh yes, plenty of times. I've been visiting since I was a child. That's how I met Frita", you explained, gesturing to your friend as dinner was being dished onto plates chiselled from stone. "Hmm, surely I would have met you by now if that were the case", he muttered as he was handed his food, "it's interesting how our paths have never crossed". You shrugged unsure of what else to say, other than, "Perhaps we weren't meant to meet yet. Us meeting now may be fate?", you laughed lightly, amused by the thought. Revali scoffed in response, "I believe we are in control of our own fate. For example; I didn't become one of the greatest rito warriors through fate and sheer dumb luck alone". "And so modest about it too", you joked which caused Frita to just about choke on her food. She tried to excuse herself as calmly as possible, covering her beak with her wing while still coughing her lungs up. Judging by her reaction, you considered how you may have overstepped a boundary. Not everyone knew when you were joking upon first meeting you. You often sounded more serious than you intended. "I'm only teasing", you clarified, playing with your food on the end of your fork absentmindedly. "I'm sure you're more than deserving of the title", you tried for your most sincere smile you could conjure, yet Revali didn't seem convince.
Finally, Frita had caught her breath, tears in the corners of her eyes. "No no, Revali really is the greatest of our warriors. Our people gave him that title", she croaked, her throat sounding raw from coughing. "He's the pride of the rito", she insisted, dropping her voice to a more serious tone. Your face contorted in amused disbelief before you began to wrack your brain for any information that would help you deduct the truth. "So he is the rito that's won the annual archery competition for the past five years? He's that same-…", you began to trail off, recalling the conversation you had with your father.
You came from a wealthy family, both your parents working for the King and late Queen of Hyrule . Your mother was the royal gerudo correspondent and your father was the royal rito correspondent- this being the reason you spent so much time in Rito Village growing up, as well as Gerudo Town. You remembered the past few years you couldn't make the annual archery competition held in the village, since you were either accompanying your mother on business trips or doing your own work, but you father had come home stating how the rito 'Revali' had won again. He would then follow up by talking about his superb skills and how his talent for aerial combat were superior in comparison to his peers. Your father claimed that the rito was unmatched and unrivalled, as well as claiming that he may very soon be known as one of- if not the most skilled warrior in all of Hyrule. (Which was very high praise coming from your father, since he was rarely impressed by anyone).
It was like a shock wave was sent through your body. "In the name of Hylia! I didn't realise it was you! I am so sorry! Please forgive my rudeness", you blubbered, putting your half eaten dinner aside, stumbling over your words as you rushed out your apology. "So you have heard of me", he lulled before an amused smirk graced his features. "I suppose I can forgive you since your rudeness was more disbelief than pure ignorance". "Thank you”, you breathed a sigh of relief. “I have heard a lot about your skills and I-… well…", once again you had trailed off. You looked to Frita for reassurance, yet she seemed as nervous as you; her posture was stiff as she sat with a straight spine, her eyes glancing between you and the navy rito. "From what I've heard, you're an incredibly skilled archer", you approached the conversation cautiously, hoping this angle would amend any bitterness you may have caused. Revali looked a you and you felt your breath catch in your throat as you locked eyes before he let out a gruff chuckle. "I suppose you could say that".
You and Frita ate in a comfortable silence while listening to Revali drawl on about the countless competitions he's won along with his many talents regarding aerial combat. Before long, your mind began to wonder.
You couldn't help but think of home. How it was slowly being consumed by a festering anxiety. There was a heavy air across the whole of Castle Town as you all prepared for this prophesied impending doom. The army had began vigorously training since last month. Some of those warriors were your friends- people you had grown up with. It was terrifying to think how some of them you may never see again once the Calamity strikes. Some were beginning to research the ancient technology that had recently been unearthed to see if they could be used to defend Hyrule. These were called guardians, and then there were also the recently uncovered Divine Beasts. At times, it was all a bit much, being at the central hub of Hyrule where there is no escape from the looming sense of dread. Things were moving so quickly and it seemed as though you may never escape the ever present anxiety that hung in the air of Castle Town. But here, in Rito Village, people seemed more relaxed. Many ritos believed that their home would not be effected by the foreseen Calamity. This made the village a nice escape from daily life back home. Here, you weren't reminded of what was to come. You weren't reminded of your duties. You could just breathe easier here in the village nestled into the rocky pillar.
"I do love it here. Rito Village is such a beautiful place. I don't have a single bad memory while being here", you gushed, earning a raised brow from Revali at your comments about his home, his interest now piqued. "Is that so?". Before you could stop her, Frita spewed, "Yes, in fact, she might move here". You shot her a look, a signal to keep that information between the two of you, to which she sheepishly dipped her head in response. You didn't want others knowing of your plans to move just yet, especially since you hadn't even mentioned it to your parents. "A hylian living amongst ritos?", Revali questioned, an amused undertone laced within his words as his luminous eyes narrowed a fraction, as if trying to read your expressions for some sign of the truth. "Hylians aren't equipped for living here. You would struggle". "Yet so many visit and get by just fine", you bit back, sharp tongued yet it was all said with a simple smile across your lips. What he said was true, yet you disliked how he assumed you would struggle when Frita, a fellow rito, believed you could easily adapt to life in the village. "Visiting and residing are very different though", he then shot back, cocking his head to the side as he examined you and your heart began to pound slightly. You felt a pout develop on your features, brows furrowed. He made a point you couldn't argue against. It was the truth. "Well, I'm taking it upon myself to help her integrate into the village before she permanently moves here", Frita chipped in, sensing some tension settling in the air. "If you truly want to move here", Revali began, capturing your attention once more. He wore a smug smirk before he finished, "You'll have to prove yourself".
"Prove myself?", you parroted. "Yes. You'll have to learn our ways and prove to us that you belong here". Revali studied you for a moment, as if he hadn't been doing so all night already. "Firstly, the women of our village are know for being beautiful singers and us men are talented archers. Tell me, can you sing?".
Being from one of the wealthier families of Hyrule Kingdom, you did have the privilege of music lessons from a young age. Your parents wanted the best for you, so consequentially, you had many lessons in a multitude of subjects and areas; Geography, horse riding, music, dance, literature, cooking, etiquette, biology and more.
"I have had many singing lessons", you informed the feathered man matter-of-factly. "It's more a matter of personal taste weather you believe I sound good". "Perhaps you could sing for me tomorrow then. After my training, well meet at the flight range. You can showcase your voice there", he challenged, the smirk across his features growing as he stared down his beak at you. "After all, it would be rather nice to have something to help me relax after such strenuous training", he teased. "And if my voice is to your liking, what do I receive then?". There was a slight pause. "What do you mean?", he tilted his head slightly, perplexed by your response. "Well, if my voice is to your liking then that would mean I have somewhat proven myself worthy of living here amongst your kind", you began, Revali's attention honed in on you, "Which I believe would be worth a reward". "Your reward would be living amongst us", you ignored his comment, pressing on. "That being said, if I prove myself, then I would like to learn archery". "What good would that do you?", he asked. "It's always good for a woman to be able to defend herself, wouldn't you agree?". "But if you were living in Rito Village you wouldn't need to defend yourself", he argued. "I'd have to say it's always good for a woman to know how to use a bow", Frita affirmed your point, edging a little closer to you as she joined the conversation. "Especially a hylian. They are smaller than most races, so it's most likely that any threat they face will be larger than them and could over power them", Frita continued, delving more into her argument. "Exactly, Frita! Meaning wouldn't it be beneficial to have a long range weapon in that instance? Surely, with your knowledge on combat as one of the greatest warriors of our time, you'd agree, Revali". You couldn't help but notice how the feathers around his chest plate plumed in reaction to your words. You'd noticed many ritos would unintentionally do this when feeling prideful, being boastful or being frustrated or angry. Perhaps it was a subconscious way of asserting dominance? Like how a Hylian may square their shoulders to appear larger and more confident in front of others. "It would be an honour to have you teach me".
There was a pause.
"I suppose it would be beneficial for you to have the most skilled archer teach you…", he mused looking off into the night, as if he barely acknowledged your being , like you were nothing more than a speck on his radar. A nuisance. "Alright, you have yourself a deal; continuously show your willingness and progression to integrate into our society, and in turn I will teach you how to use a bow". "And you swear not to go back on your word?", you quirked a brow in Revali's direction. "I swear".

I headcanon Revali being the type to keep a smile on his face just for you despite hurting from the midst of a battle. (Giving "As long as I'm with you, I've got a smile on my face" song vibes). AND I'M LIVING FOR THAT AAHHH.
Just imagine the both of you are exhausted, probably covered in bruises and a little beated up; and he would constantly gives you small grins to let you know that he's fine and you both can get over this battle.
If the battle was too intense or violent and you end up getting a little emotional and tear up a bit, he'll definetely cover you up with his wings and gulf you into a warm hug. He'll probably stay silent cuz he's not used to comfort people and clueless, but definetely wants you to know that you can save those tears, because it'll be okay, you're here with him.

Accidental Romeo and Uncertain Juliet
Revali didn't want to join theater and here he was, with the main role in their current production "Romeo and Juliet". Things get even more complicated when Mipha is cast as Juliet. They have some difficulties to overcome.
<>
Theme: Highschool theater AU, performing "Romeo and Juliet".
Word Count: 6,020

I don't know how theater works for something like this. I'm basing things off limited knowledge and how my church has done skits.
Miphvali masterlist requests
<>
He hadn't wanted to join the drama club with the rest of their group, but his mother practically forced him to. Otherwise he wouldn't have been there. And of course, the drama group wanted people to try for the main roles in the most dramatic and ridiculous play known to humankind: Romeo and Juliet.
He had done it as a joke, thinking never in a million years would they cast him as Romeo. He gave it his all, of course, but he made it clear he wasn't interested. He didn't even try for another part, assuming they'd stick him wherever.
They got their scripts back today, with the list of characters. Not even bothering to look at the top of the cast list, he started at the bottom and made his way up, expecting not to be an extra, but maybe Tybalt or something. He frowned when he couldn't find his name anywhere, finally reaching the top. He froze, seeing his name clearly printed at the very top.
𝚁𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚘: 𝚁𝚎𝚟𝚊𝚕𝚒 𝙴𝚊𝚐𝚕𝚎𝚋𝚘𝚠
He sat confused for a moment and then wondered if their director, Miss Sonia, had made a mistake. She must've. He listened to the excited buzz of the other students as he looked to see who Juliet would be.
𝙹𝚞𝚕𝚒𝚎𝚝: 𝙼𝚒𝚙𝚑𝚊 𝙻𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝𝚜𝚌𝚊𝚕𝚎
Even better. He glanced up, seeing people telling each other who got what roles and he quickly began to scan the list.
𝚁𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚘: 𝚁𝚎𝚟𝚊𝚕𝚒 𝙴𝚊𝚐𝚕𝚎𝚋𝚘𝚠
𝙹𝚞𝚕𝚒𝚎𝚝: 𝙼𝚒𝚙𝚑𝚊 𝙻𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝𝚜𝚌𝚊𝚕𝚎
𝙽𝚊𝚛𝚛𝚊𝚝𝚘𝚛: 𝚉𝚎𝚕𝚍𝚊 𝙷𝚢𝚛𝚞𝚕𝚎
𝙵𝚛𝚒𝚊𝚛 𝙻𝚊𝚠𝚛𝚎𝚗𝚌𝚎: 𝙳𝚊𝚛𝚞𝚔 𝚁𝚘𝚌𝚔𝚌𝚛𝚞𝚜𝚑
𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝙽𝚞𝚛𝚜𝚎: 𝙸𝚖𝚙𝚊 𝙺𝚊𝚔𝚊𝚛𝚒𝚔𝚘
𝙼𝚎𝚛𝚌𝚞𝚝𝚒𝚘: 𝙻𝚒𝚗𝚔 𝚆𝚒𝚕𝚍
𝙱𝚎𝚗𝚟𝚘𝚕𝚒𝚘: 𝚃𝚎𝚋𝚊 𝙵𝚊𝚕𝚌𝚘𝚗
𝚃𝚢𝚋𝚊𝚕𝚝: 𝙰𝚜𝚝𝚘𝚛 𝙳𝚊𝚛𝚔𝚜𝚘𝚗
𝙿𝚊𝚛𝚒𝚜: 𝚂𝚒𝚍𝚘𝚗 𝙻𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝𝚜𝚌𝚊𝚕𝚎
𝙲𝚊𝚙𝚞𝚕𝚎𝚝: 𝙶𝚊𝚗𝚘𝚗𝚍𝚘𝚛𝚏 𝙳𝚛𝚊𝚐𝚖𝚒𝚛𝚎
𝙻𝚊𝚍𝚢 𝙲𝚊𝚙𝚞𝚕𝚎𝚝: 𝚄𝚛𝚋𝚘𝚜𝚊 𝚂𝚌𝚒𝚖𝚒𝚝𝚊𝚛
𝙼𝚘𝚗𝚝𝚊𝚐𝚞𝚎: 𝚂𝚝𝚎𝚟𝚎 𝙴𝚊𝚛𝚔𝚑𝚒𝚖𝚎
𝙻𝚊𝚍𝚢 𝙼𝚘𝚗𝚝𝚊𝚐𝚞𝚎: 𝚁𝚒𝚓𝚞 𝚂𝚊𝚗𝚍𝚜𝚎𝚊𝚕
He didn't bother to read the extras list. He sat back, dropping the script onto his lap. No wonder his pamphlet was so big, he had the biggest role in the whole play! Normally he would've been thrilled about something like this, especially since his role was far more important than the oh-so-popular Link Wild's.
But this. This was awful. The most ridiculous, dramatic play known to mankind, a play about love and he had the main part. The part of the dramatic, lovesick fool who kills himself for a fantasy.
Maybe he should've tried out for Mercutio instead of leaving his fate in Miss Sonia's hands.
And to make things even worse, Mipha was playing Juliet. It came as no surprise to him because she had the sweet, innocent demeanor that was perfect for the role but...
"Revali!" Teba materialized next to him, clapping him on the shoulder. "Congratulations on getting the main part."
Revali shook his head. "This wasn't even supposed to happen. I was mostly bullshitting them, Teba."
"Well clearly you put in too much effort. You're stuck with it now because there's no changing Miss Sonia's mind once its set."
The teenager sighed, running a hand through the loose bits of his hair. "I'd rather sink into the floor and die than be that lovesick fool."
Teba chuckled, clapping his friend on the back again. "Oh look, here comes Juliet."
Mipha was shyly approaching them, absently playing with the edges of her script. "Congratulations on getting Romeo."
He nodded. "Thanks. Good job getting Juliet."
She nodded back, smiling a bit. "I guess we'll be seeing a lot more of each other now, huh?"
"Yeah, I guess we will," Revali sighed dramatically. "In a very interesting way."
She giggled and he couldn't help but smile back.
This was going to be an experience.
<>
"I want you all to try staying in character even when you're just walking around set," Sonia instructed. "After years of trying this technique, it usually helps people develop into the character they're playing."
Revali sighed. "Do I have to?"
Sonia smiled. "It won't be too hard, I'm sure."
Teba chuckled. "I think she's calling you dramatic."
"Shut up, Teba."
The group dispersed to gather scripts and Urbosa joined the two boys. "Are you ready, Romeo?"
"Don't call me that," Revali grumbled. "This is dumb enough."
"That's not very in-character of you."
"Oh wait right, sorry. One second," he cleared his throat and fell dramatically to his knees. "Oh Juliet! You are fairer than the sun and you teach the torches to shine! Oh! Oh, have I not known love until now?" He flopped dramatically on his back. "Let me give up my life on the most unreliable thing known to mankind--love at first sight!"
He heard clapping and he sighed again, staring at the ceiling a moment before getting up. Link came over with a prop sword. "Good job, Romeo."
"Give me that," he took the sword out of Link's hand, pretending to stab himself with it. "UGH, JULIET IS DEAD! LIFE IS NOT WORTH LIVING!"
"No, Juliet is supposed to stab herself!" Impa called from across the room. "Romeo poisons himself!"
"Oh right, sorry," he tossed the sword to Mipha, who had drifted over, then grabbing his water bottle and taking a dramatic swig out of it. With a sigh and a choking sound, he slid to the floor, landing at Mipha's feet. "Oh, Juliet! Parting is such sweet sorrow!"
A long moment of silence ensued, Revali staring up at Mipha, who was clutching the sword handle with her eyes wide. Then he burst into laughter, causing her to giggle, and the whole cast was soon in an uproar.
Revali sat up and did a dramatic half bow, looking over to Sonia. "Was that in-character enough for you?"
She blinked in response and Mipha tapped his shoulder. "Wait, lie back down."
He did as instructed and she pretended to stab herself. "Oh Romeo!"
She flopped to the ground like a fish, causing more laughter from everyone. She held the sword so it looked embedded in her side, flopping a bit before she went still.
Revali grinned. Maybe this wasn't so bad after all.
<>
Mineru, Sonia's sister-in-law, had them start showing up earlier so she could begin altering (or in Daruk's case) making costumes. She was currently pinning up Revali's doublet, sizing up his hair. "We might have to cut your hair for this. I don't think the braids--"
"You will absolutely not cut my hair for a stupid play," he snapped. "I'll find a way to make it work. I doubt the audience cares about Romeo's hair anyways."
Mineru eyed the navy braids skeptically but shrugged. "If you insist..."
"I do insist."
"They're an important part of our culture," Teba explained as he went by, helping Robbie Guardian (who was on the backstage team) carry a large prop. "You can't just cut them off. Unless you're starting a rebellion or something else very serious."
Mineru nodded slowly, moving on when she Mipha emerge from the changing room in one of the pre-existing dresses acceptable for Juliet to wear. "That looks like it fits you well."
"It does," she walked excitedly over to them, holding the front of the dress up slightly. "Its a bit long, but I think it works well!"
"I'll have to tweak the waistline a bit too," Revali turned to look as Mineru analyzed the fit. "You are absolutely tiny, Mipha."
"I know," she blushed a bit, smiling when she noticed Revali looking. "What do you think?"
She did a little spin and Revali couldn't help but smile a bit at her. "I think you look great."
"Heh, thank you. Mineru, should I take it off or..?"
"Just wait a minute. I'm almost done with Revali here and I'll go pin your dress up."
"Okay!"
She skipped off towards Zelda and Urbosa, presumably to show off the dress and Revali found himself watching her leave. Until a needle-like pain pricked him through the side of his abdomen. "Ow."
"You know, if you look at her like that on stage you'll have an excellent performance."
"I beg your pardon? I wasn't--OW you're doing that on purpose!"
"I haven't the slightest clue what you're talking about," she put the last pin in (thankfully not pricking him again) and nodded. "There. And I'm serious, Revali. If you were aware of it or not, you were looking at her like someone in--"
"I have no idea what you're saying," he cut her off, using a version of her own line. "Mipha is my friend and I thought she looked nice. End of discussion. I'll go take this off now."
Mineru simply shrugged, calling Mipha over as Revali stomped to the changing rooms. He hadn't been looking at her like anything. He had simply admired her dress.
He was not in love with Mipha. He didn't fall in love with anyone.
<>
Practice began in earnest and the weeks began to trickle by. Miss Sonia had them simply read through the play several times and then they finally began to practice with motions, going through scene-by-scene. She wanted them as well prepared for the performance in December as possible, and always reminded them to study their lines.
Everything was going smoothly. Despite his moaning and groaning, everyone (even Revali himself) agreed that he really did make an excellent Romeo. Mipha was a perfect Juliet, letting her sweet and innocent nature shine through.
Although there was one scene Revali wasn't exactly looking forward to.
Where Romeo and Juliet meet for the first time. Where they kiss for the first time.
On stage. In front a bunch of students and their parents.
They were practicing that scene this coming Monday and Mipha had yet to say anything about it to him. Maybe she wasn't worried about it. That was fine with him.
Of course, that mindset changed when a very nervous looking Mipha approached him after rehearsal. "Revali?"
He was eating an apple, looking up from his script. "Hey, Mipha, what's up?"
"Hi, uhm..." She twisted her rings nervously on her fingers. "So..."
He raised his eyebrow, calmly waiting for her to work out what she was trying to say. It took her a minute and she was blushing hard. "Uhm...on Monday we're practicing the...meeting scene."
So she was worried. "Yeah, we are. Are you nervous?"
She pressed her lips together, nodding. "I'm...anxious about the kiss."
Fair enough. "You know, Mipha, it won't mean anything. All just acting, right? So you don't have to be nervous."
"I know that, I--" she took a deep breath and with a nervous glance around the room, she leaned closer to him, eyes wide. "I've never kissed anyone before."
He blinked. They were in their senior year and he partially couldn't believe that no one had ever tried to kiss her. She always heard boys pining after her (ew) and it wasn't like she didn't have options. "Are you serious right now?"
The way she nodded completely answered his question. He leaned back in his seat, dropping his script into his lap and rubbing his face. "Well shit..."
"Sorry, I just--" Her face flushed red. "I thought I should let you know."
"Hey, don't apologize, its fine." Revali contemplated the options. He was an exact opposite of her, having kissed plenty of girls in his high school career. All hookups, obviously, but when it came to the act of kissing, he knew a lot more than he ever let on. For good reason.
"I just don't know what to do."
"Alright, look, you have a few options. You could do nothing and just let me kiss you on the practice day or you could find a guy who likes you and convince him to kiss you. Its not like that would be hard," when she wrinkled her nose at the last option, he sighed, looking away. "Okay, this last one is going to sound very weird to you but we could...ugh, you could come by over the weekend and we could...practice or something."
She was pinker than her magenta hair, all the way to the tips of her pointed ears. For a moment he was worried she'd shut down and panic, but she squeaked out, "If you...really don't mind, I--I'd prefer the last one."
Okay. Okay, okay, okay, that was fine. "Yeah, that works. You could swing by tomorrow afternoon if you want. You know where I live."
"Yeah, uhm," she tucked s loose wave of hair behind her ear. "Is anyone...uh, going to be home at your house?"
He shook his head. "My father is on a business trip for two weeks and my mother works all Saturday. So no," he paused. "Would you be more comfortable if someone was there?"
She immediately shook her head, waving her in hands in that nervous little way of hers. "Oh, no, I think I'd actually prefer if no one was there. Don't want anyone getting the wrong impression."
"Absolutely," especially with his track record. His parents didn't care who he brought home or what they were doing but he didn't want Mipha to get dragging into that. "Great, uh, just drop me a text when you're on your way and...yeah. Bring your script, I guess."
"Okay," she nervously wrung her hands. "Uh, I'll see you tomorrow then."
"Yeah."
He watched her hurry over to her stuff, grabbing her bag and disappearing out the door. Link appeared at Revali's side a moment later. "What was that about?"
"Just because we're friends in the play doesn't mean we're friends in real life, Wild."
"Hey, I get that. But Mipha's my childhood friend and she looked awful flustered."
"Don't worry about it. Maybe try asking her yourself," Revali stood, gathering his things. "I'll see you on Monday, Wild."
<>
Mipha had texted him twenty minutes ago and now Revali sat at his kitchen table, a half-eaten sandwich on his plate and his script on his lap. He noticed his leg occasionally bouncing nervously and he tried to force himself to calm down. This was just a practice and this meant absolutely nothing.
So why was he suddenly so nervous? So eager?
The doorbell echoed through the house and he vaguely realized he was out of his chair way too quickly as he scrambled to grab his script. He forced himself to walk slower to the front door, trying to make it look casual when he opened it.
Mipha stood there in a sundress and leggings, which he had come to notice was one of her favorite outfit combinations. She held her script in one hand and she smiled shyly when he met her eyes. "Uhm, hi."
"Hey," he pulled the door open wider. "Come in."
She nodded, stepping inside and setting her bag down while he locked the door. "So, uh, where are we doing this?"
"Guest room," Because there was no way in hell he was taking her to his room. "Come on."
He led her down the hall to the guest room, gesturing for her to enter and leaving the door semi-open behind them. She settled herself on the edge of the bed while Revali scanned the script, open to the part they needed.
He already had it memorized but he was stalling a bit.
Mipha was very fixated on her script too and after a loaded moment, Revali suggested, "Why don't we practice up to the point, starting at the beginning of the exchange between them?"
"O-okay," she stood, placing her skit down and nervously smoothing her dress. "That works for me."
He nodded, offering her his hand which she took. After a moment, he began, "If I profane with my unworthiest hand this holy shrine, the gentle fine is this:" he hated the next line. "My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand to smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss."
He brought her hand up, bending slightly to press his lips to her knuckles. She blushed pink.
"Good pilgrim, you do wrong your hand too much, which mannerly devotion shows in this; For saints have hands that pilgrim's hands do touch," she brought his hands together in prayer. "And palm to palm is holy palmers' kiss."
"Have not saints lips, and holy palmers too?"
"Ay, pilgrim," she turned away slightly, like how Sonia had been suggesting she do. "Lips that they must use in prayer."
"O, then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do; they pray, grant thou, least faith turn to despair?"
"Saints do not move, though grant for prayers' sake."
Revali turned her face to his. "Alright, listen," he murmured. "Just do whatever feels natural to you and we can adjust as needed. Don't be scared. I won't hurt you or do anything."
She nodded, face pink. "Right."
He nodded back, placing a hand on her back. "Then move not while my prayer's effect I take."
Her golden eyes were wide as he leaned towards her. Just when their noses brushed, she shied away, covering her face with her hands. Revali paused, raising an eyebrow. "Mipha?"
"I-I'm sorry! I--I just can't do it!" Her ears were red and he could just imagine the state of her face under her hands. "I'm sorry!"
"Hey, hey, its okay," he sighed, stepping back and running his fingers through his hair. "I can only imagine how much this sucks for you. I certainly wouldn't want this to be my first kiss."
She peeked at him through her fingers and she lowered her hands, face aflame. "Its not you, I promise, its...I don't, maybe it is you, but I'm just...nervous."
"Would it help if you pictured someone else instead of me?"
She thought about that for a moment, before violently shaking her head. "No, that's worse."
"Uhm...you could pretend is not actually happening. Trick your brain into thinking you're dreaming? Surely you've dreamed of kissing someone before."
She blushed anew. "Well, yes, but I don't think that will help either."
Revali pressed his lips together. "I've only got one suggestion for you then. Focus hard on something else. Completely fill your brain with thoughts of that one thing and only that thing. It doesn't matter what it is, just focus on it and you won't think about what you're doing at all."
She thought for a moment, before nodding slowly. "Okay."
"Perfect," he stepped in front of her again, taking her hand in his and positioning his other hand on her back. "Let's start with 'saints do not move'."
"Saints do not move, though grant for prayers' sake."
"Then move not while my prayer's effect I take." He stepped a bit closer to her and this time she closed her eyes while he leaned over, his nose again brushing against hers. Their lips finally met and the gasp that left her encouraged him to pull her against him, wrapping his arms around her waist. Her hands landed on the back of his neck, effectively keeping his mouth on hers and their lips began to move.
It was raw, unpracticed, and he found himself loving it despite of what he told himself. This wasn't supposed to mean anything, was only supposed to be acting, and yet he knew they were getting carried away. He was getting completely lost in her, lost in her soft lips and her hands on the nape of his neck and the sigh that escaped her nose.
He forced himself to pull back. Her eyes stayed closed a moment longer and he watched as her lashes fluttered before golden orbs looked up at him. Her face was flushed, lips slightly parted.
Good Hylia. They had completely lost it.
They stared at each other a moment, neither moving to take a step back like they knew they should. After a loaded minute, she asked, "Uhm...how was that?"
"Perfect," he whispered. "Are you sure you've never kissed anyone before? You sure fooled me."
She let out a breathy laugh, flushing crimson all over again. "I assure you, that was the first time. That was..."
Phenomenal was the first word that sprang to mind. "Perfect. Seriously, I don't have any corrections. I think you're just naturally a good kisser."
If she could go any redder, she would've. "Oh, stop it. You made me completely forget my line."
Revali stamped down the prideful response that flared up in him. This kiss was just acting, all for show, and it meant nothing.
Nothing at all.
"And think, we have to say things between and kiss again."
She let out another breathy laugh. "Right. Uhm, I think you say something after the kiss."
"Thus from my lips, by yours, my sin is purged." He murmured.
"Then have my lips the sin that they have took?"
"Sin from thy lips? O trespass sweetly urged! Give me my sin again."
He took her face in his hands and kissed her again, as directed in the script. This one he kept much more restrained, keeping himself in control instead of whatever animalistic drive that had taken over the first time.
No one had made him lose composure like that.
She felt more confident now, he could tell by the way her lips moved. They broke apart far sooner than the first time and she announced, "You kiss by the book."
For some reason, he burst into laughter. He threw his head back and laughed and in turn, she began to giggle. "Why are we laughing?"
"I don't know!"
Which just made them laugh more. As their laughter died out, their eyes met and they exchanged a loaded glance. She cleared her throat and took a step back. "Thank you."
"You feel ready for Monday?"
She flashed a smile. "No. But I do feel a touch more prepared. Thank you."
He shrugged. "Don't mention it."
<>
People were gathering in the theater room. Revali was perched on one of Robbie's props, muttering his lines under his breath.
"Excuse me."
Revali looked up to find the aforementioned Sheikah there. "I need that prop you're sitting on."
"And what if I don't move?"
"I'll set Purah on you."
"Ah yes, your girlfriend."
"I have a girlfriend. Purah's not her."
Revali snorted, standing up and looking around as Robbie dragged the prop to the stage. Most of the students had arrived, but they were missing one key player: Mipha.
"You good?" Teba asked, coming up alongside his friend. "You've seemed spaced-out all day."
"I have not been. I'm fine."
Both of them knew he was lying only one didn't know what had caused the zone-out in the first place. Revali was thinking about Saturday, and in spite of himself, Mipha. He just couldn't seem to forget that kiss, and none of his usual distraction methods were working. He had kissed plenty of other girls but none of them ever haunted him like this.
It was her first kiss. He got to share that. He liked that thought way more than he should.
They were just friends, they were just friends, they were just--
"Has anyone seen Mipha?" Sonia's voice drifted over the buzz of student chatter. "We need to start."
Teba nudged Revali's arm. "Go look for your Juliet, Romeo."
He grunted. "She's probably just late or something."
"Revali." Teba's tone caused him to look at his friend. "Go find her. She's probably really worried about today's scenes and it would probably mean a lot to her if you looked for her."
Revali sighed, heading for the doors and pushing them open, ignoring the questioning looks from some of the students. He looked around a bit and then peeked into the hall leading to the nearest bathrooms.
Mipha was tucked against a wall, looking nervous, and as soon as she noticed him she let an alarmed peep. He raised an eyebrow and with a quick glance over his shoulder, approached her. "What are you doing? We're supposed to start."
"Sorry, um," she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, the lights reflecting in her golden eyes. "I got nervous at the last second. Couldn't bring myself to go in there."
"Fair enough," he offered his hand to her. "C'mon. They're waiting for us."
After a moment she took his offered hand, and let him lead her to the theater doors. She let go but before he could open the door, she asked, "How do you deal with the thought of everyone staring at you?"
"With that trick I taught you: I focus. On something, someone, anything that'll distract you from the crowd."
"Right," she nodded slowly, shyly looking up at him. "Can I...focus on you?"
He blinked in surprise. "Uh, yeah. Yeah, if that'll help you absolutely."
"Okay. I...just wanted to ask, because if I'm looking at you too intensely I don't want you to be freaked out."
He smiled. "I appreciate that. Come on, lets go."
They entered the theater room, Sonia immediately gesturing them into their places. They begin to run through the party scene and during Tybalt's angry speech to Capulet, Revali notices Mipha's gaze intensifying on him while they danced. There was small things in her demeanor one would only notice up close, like a slight twitch of her hand or her eyes flickering over his face.
Their conversation began. Revali found himself focusing more and more on her instead of his usual things, like the lines he was saying or how his hand was moving as he spoke. She was staring back, watching him as she pressed his palms together. "Saints do not move, though grant for prayers' sake."
"Then move not while my prayer's effect I take." It was time. He nodded slightly and she closed her eyes, taking a deep breath as he pressed his lips against hers. They moved so slow, so dramatically compared to the first time and he couldn't tell if he liked it more (he shouldn't like it all. This was his friend).
They parted. "Thus from my lips, by yours, my sin is purged."
"Then have my lips the sin that they have took?"
"Sin from thy lips? O trespass sweetly urged! Give me my sin again."
They kissed again, his hand sliding into her hair. This was shorter than the first, Mipha pulling back. After a moment, she announced, "You kiss by the book."
"Stop right there!" Sonia announced, standing excitedly and coming onto the stage. "You two. That was beautiful! Anyone could clearly tell how in love the characters were from what you did. Your body language, how close you stood to each other, how you kissed--flawless!"
Mipha was beet red. Revali could feel the back of his neck becoming extremely hot. Sonia nodded. "Do it just like that at the performance and it'll be perfect! The chemistry was undeniable."
She moved on, saying something to Impa that Revali didn't hear. He was so focused on what Sonia had said, on this chemistry they had supposedly infused into the kiss.
But here's the thing--he hadn't even tried to do that at all.
<>
The following weeks were gossip hell.
Someone (he presumed a backstage worker) had spread the word of their "flawless" practice. Everywhere Revali went he was assaulted with overheard whispers and looks. Some people, both boys and girls, went straight up to him and questioned him, much to his embarrassment.
It was going to be living hell until the performance.
They began full dress rehearsals. Revali noticed he and Mipha had started interacting less and less until they only spoke to each other when necessary. He assumed it was because of all the rumors flying around, but he was starting to miss joking around with her and doing dramatic little speeches off stage.
"You need to talk to her."
Revali glanced up from his sandwich at Urbosa. It was Saturday and they were doing one of their last dress rehearsals before the performance the following Friday. "Beg your pardon?"
"Everyone's noticed you and Mipha talking less. I'm the only one who's willing to say something to you about it," she sat down next to him on the bench. "Did something happen?"
"No-ugh, I don't know. Probably those stupid rumors," he took an aggressive bite from his sandwich. "Trying to stop more of them from spreading."
"Hey, that's not a good way to live your life. If you go around sacrificing something you want to diffuse rumors, you'll soon find you have nothing at all," she opened her lunchbox, starting on a mushroom skewer. "Since when do you care about what people say?"
"I don't. I care about Mipha though."
"Then go talk to her. She's missing you, I can tell, and if you care about her, you'll go. Screw the rumors."
He sighed. "What if--"
"That wasn't a suggestion," Urbosa nodded. "Go. Tell her the truth."
"And what truth is that?"
She gave him a loaded look. "What truth do you think?"
The truth that he missed her. The truth that he loved the taste of her lips. The truth that he couldn't stop thinking about her and get her out of his head.
He stood with a sigh, leaving his sandwich behind and approaching her. She sat on a different prop, carefully eating a tuna sandwich over a napkin, trying to evade crumbs on her dress. Her snapped up when she noticed him, watching him sit down next to her. "Hey."
"Hi," she swallowed a bit of sandwich and after a long moment, asked, "Are you alright?"
No, he wasn't. He suddenly found himself aching in an unfamiliar way. Aching for her and he hadn't the slightest clue what to do about it. He cleared his throat. "Look, if it seems like I've been avoiding you, I promise I'm not. I was--I was trying to keep the rumors more toned down because of...well, my reputation and I didn't want you getting mixed up in that."
She blinked, lowering her sandwich to her lap and suddenly taking his hand. "Oh Revali, don't worry about that! I don't care as much about what they say. I'd rather be around you."
He wished they were alone right now. He wanted to tell her the complete truth but here there were too many prying eyes and ears. "Well now I feel like a massive idiot."
"Don't. I really appreciate you thinking of me like that, Revali. Truly."
He nodded. "Yeah. Yeah, no problem. Are you ready for the performance?"
She smiled nervously, picking up her sandwich again. "As ready as I'll ever be."
"Just remember what I told you. Focus on something as hard as you can. You'll forget the crowd," he smirked. "I don't mind if you stare at me."
His line was pushing it a bit but the blush that spread on her face had him wondering if she was just generally embarrassed by it or actually liked it. Oh Hylia help him, this is why he didn't let himself get emotionally involved. He had bigger fish to fry.
A slam made them both jump, and they turned towards the stage to see a shocked Robbie standing over a prop wall that had fallen forward. Purah's voice echoed from somewhere in the room, "Good job, Robbie."
"Hey, I literally did nothing! I was checking the supports to make sure this wouldn't happen!" He bent down, pulling the prop back up. "Isn't it better I figure out it needs adjusting now instead of on opening night?"
"Whatever you want to tell yourself."
Revali sighed, dramatically rolling his eyes and smiled when he heard Mipha giggle.
He was screwed.
<>
It was opening night. Everything they had worked for led up to this. Sonia had given them an encouraging speech and now they were scattered backstage, getting in costume and makeup while Purah checked the props one more time and Robbie settled himself at the soundboard.
Revali was ready. He had his costume on and his stage makeup done. He knew his lines so well he could say them in his sleep.
There was one thing wrong though. He couldn't find Mipha.
After looking around for a few minutes, he found her tucked into a dark corner among some props, nearly hyperventilating. "Mipha!"
Her wide eyes met his and she gasped, "I'm scared. I'm suddenly really scared and I don't know why!"
"Hey. Hey, look at me," he took her face in his hands. "Take deep, slow breaths. You're cutting off the oxygen to your brain which is just making your panic worse."
She inhaled sharply. It wasn't exactly a calming breath but it was far better than the short and shallow breathing from mere seconds before. "What if I mess up on stage in front of everyone?"
"You're not going to, I know it."
"How do you know that?"
"Because you're so talented. You're incredible and you are Juliet," he let out a breathless laugh. "You're my Juliet. Who doesn't shy away from things because they're scary or considered wrong by everyone else. She's strong and loving and I know she can do anything."
She was staring at him, breathing slower. "You mean it?"
Goddess, he was in deep. "Every word. You will awe them all. I know you do that to me every single day."
Now wasn't the time for a confession, but these words were tumbling out of his mouth without checking with his brain first. He rubbed his thumbs over her cheeks. Her eyelashes fluttered, and she grabbed his arms, gripping him like a lifeline. They had twenty minutes, maybe, until the crowds would show up and maybe thirty-five minutes tops before they had to be on stage.
Mipha's eyes opened. "Revali?"
"I'm here, Mipha."
She squeezed his arms lightly and without a word, leaned forward and pressed her forehead against his. They stood like that for a long moment, her breathing finally even, staring at each other. "Don't let me go."
"I'll have to eventually."
"Then hold me in your thoughts."
"You're always in my thoughts, Mipha. Every single day."
She pulled back and stared at him and Revali's heart dropped. He had overstepped, he had screwed it up, he had--
She surged forward, grabbing his collar and dragging him down, caught his lips in a rough kiss. His eyes immediately closed, his hands still holding her face as their lips moved against each other. Feeling bold, her lightly bit her bottom lip, tugging her mouth open slightly and relishing the gasp this pulled from her.
This kiss was wild, uncontrolled, and conveyed desperation he had never felt before. Pulling her mouth open was akin to opening a floodgate and her tongue fought with his, making a muffled hum resonate from his throat.
He tilted her head, hearing her gasp in the gap before they interlocked again. He had completely lost control of himself, kissing her in a way he had never kissed anyone else before. It felt...incredible.
His lungs threatened to explode and he reluctantly pulled back, breathing hard. She was fighting to regain air, looking at him with hooded eyes and swollen lips. After a long moment, he rested his forehead against hers again and they stood like that for a long moment.
"That," she breathed. "Was not kissing by the book. That threw the book out the window."
He chuckled, swallowing thickly. "I'm sure it exceeded expectations."
Her eyes opened fully, looking at him with an emotion he couldn't quite figure out. "You always do."
"Well, well," Urbosa's voice made Mipha jump and Revali's head whip over so quickly his neck popped. "I think I can gather what's happening here from the way you two are standing. Trying to get some extra practice in, hm?"
Mipha made some sort of strangled noise and Revali scowled at the taller woman. "I swear to the Goddess, you say one word to anyone and I'll--"
"Relax, whatever you two are hiding is safe with me. Curtain's up in ten minutes and Sonia's looking for you frantically. Be grateful I found you and not her."
"Of course. We'll be right there," Mipha watched Urbosa leave, her face aflame. "Well. I suppose we should go then."
"I guess so," Revali smiled. "Are you ready to wow everyone?"
"As ready as you are," they began walking through the props, back towards everyone else. "As much as I'd like you to, don't kiss me like that on stage."
"Are you sure? It would probably really add to the experience."
"You might get in trouble with the teachers. And besides, that wouldn't be kissing by the book."
"Hm, alright, but only because I'd much rather kiss you like that in private. Away from prying eyes."
He could tell she was fighting a blush as they emerged from the maze of props, receiving instant quizzing from Sonia and knowing looks from Urbosa.
<>
The play was such a success that on the final night, a local newscaster came and did a live broadcast of the whole thing. Not once did Mipha freeze up or forget her lines and people said that the way the two actors looked at each other truly showed the love Romeo and Juliet shared.
When interviewed by the news reporter after the play, Revali was asked how he made his performance so convincing. His response was a shrug and a cryptic reply of, "You focus on one thing. Something that makes you forget everyone and everything else is there and you just do."
Mipha's response to the same question was to blush and she couldn't formulate enough words to respond.
After high school, the two enrolled in a renowned college for the performing arts and they did Romeo and Juliet yet again, receiving just as many compliments about their chemistry as before.

I just found out that Revali is very similar to a blue jay and it makes so much sense.

I always wondered if he was inspired by or based off of a blue jay because of the way his feathers lay out on his head and his color as well. The attitude part makes a crap ton of sense too. This would explain why his first instinct was to attack Link when he arrived in Rito Village. Obviously, he probably isn’t literally a blue jay, since the rito are based off of— or are birds of prey. But he does have the traits and aspects of such. He has both the characteristics of a blue jay, AND a bird of prey.
This is honestly so cool to think about. I’ve always had an odd fascination with birds so it’d explain my fascination with the Rito too lol
Screenshot is from @tnc-n3cl ‘s post on Rito Biology. Super fkn cool if I do say so myself.

Epic x Breath of The Wild
Headcanon about what characters from botw fit what roles in the odyssey
Link- Odysseus (obviously)
Daruk- Polites (not as obv, but he is links best friend and someone I feel the crew would have respect for and like)
Revali- Eurylochus (even tho I love Revali, he is antagonistic and I feel like he would fight Link on every decision)
Zelda- Penelope (again, obvious)
Urbosa- Odysseus’ Mom (I feel like they would’ve had a more mentor-student relationship than a mother and son)
Impa- The Prophet (girlie literally tells Link what he has to do like some sort of oracle, I think it fits)
Twilight Princess Link- Athena (he’s seen as Links mentor, has an animal form, etc. it just fits)
Ganon- Poseidon (The Main Antagonist, plus he killed a bunch of people)
Mipha- Circe (not sure if this is the best fit, but I didn’t think she would act as a roadblock like Calypso does, even if I think that relationship is closer to Link and Miphas)
Fire Blight- cyclops (bigger + killed Daruk)
Wind Blight- Charybdis (whirlpools/ tornadoes)
Water Blight- Scylla (it just feels right)
Thunder Blight- Zeus (do I need to explain?)
Hestu- Aeolus (just a helpful little chap, plus they both deal in magical bags)
Koroks- Winions (mostly cause of hestu)
Kass- Hermes (just a helpful guy who travels a lot)
Hylia- Calypso (no particular reason, I just think they’re both awful women who should leave our heroes alone)
The Yiga- Lotus Eaters (the bananas are the lotus)
Past heroes of Hyrule/princess Zelda’s- Gods from God Games (this would be TP Link pleading for them to let him help BotW Link out)
Alternatively: Teba, Sidon, Riju, Yunobo & Tulin (just kinda wanted a place for them to fit in. They could also possibly be suitors?)
Aryll- Telemachus (while not officially in the game, she did appear in some artwork. I feel like Link would destroy the world just to get back to his wife and lil sis)
Antinous- I really have no clue. If anyone has any suggestions, please tell me!
