Fun fact: you can like both Alicent and Rhaenyra. You don’t have to pit them against each other just because the narrative does.
“But alicent did this” “but Rhaenyra” they would not have had to do those things if the men in their lives weren’t constantly pitting them against each other.
It is very much possible to be team women and say fuck you to the men who caused all these problems in the first place.

We didn’t get to see Nyra getting Breakboned because they knew we wouldn’t be able to control are selfs
Okay they didn’t have the time to be sweet and gentle they had SHIT TO DO. The like three scenes we have of Harwin and Rhaenyra were filled with so much tension and genuine love for one another. I have no god damn idea how they were keeping their hands to themselves.
AND I know dame well they were getting freaky in the worst possible places because where else are they gonna do it? Her room? The dragon pit? His room? The city watch bunks? Laenor’s room? In one of the many hidden passages ways?
THEY HAD THREE KIDS IN TEN YEARS! Daemon and her had three in six. If HARWIN AND NYRA WERE MARRIED I know damn well there’d be a whole baseball team of “plain” brown hair, dark eyed little Strong Targaryens running a muck in the Keep.
In conclusion if we saw Harwin tame that dragon none AND I MEAN NONE of us would give daemon the time of day again
The rouge prince WAS, IS and FOREVER WILL BE on thin, THIN fucking ice. Like not even standing on it thin. I mean jack from titanic levels of Rhaenyra holding that man above water even though it could kill her too. The writers are lucky Matt Smith has such a captivating style of acting AND they killed Harwin so soon.

House of the Dragon Hot Take except I don't care what number I'm on because this is a more important post than usual.
I feel like the majority of GOT/HOTD/ASOIAF fans see this post as "common sense" but a lot of you don't act on it so I'm just going to say it anyway. Stop threatening the actors. Stop bullying the actors. Stop threatening people that have different opinions then you (i'm SPECIFICALLY looking at toxic team green and team black stans right now.) I have seen people like Iwan Rheon, Carice van Houten, Jack Gleason, Sophie Turner, Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Tom Glynn-Carney, and Matt Smith get treated like absolute SHIT because of their characters, their appearance, their gender, and their acting. It is truly disgusting and dehumanizing to go on social media and see people sending death threats to actors and actresses because people don't like their character. I'll give examples on what I mean:
Iwan Rheon - Has been harassed for playing Ramsay.
Jack Gleason - Got sent death threats for playing Joffrey.
Kit Harington - Got sexually harassed in public numerous times and I believe threatened at least once for playing Jon. He also gets made fun of for wanting to be seen as more than a pretty face and body. He also got ridiculed for saying being randomly touched in public and having people practically harassing him about his appearance makes him reasonably upset.
Matt Smith - People bully him for his appearance, harassed him AND his MOTHER on twitter, and people accuse him of supporting abuse towards women because he plays Daemon.
Carice van Houten - Got sent death threats for playing Melisandre.
Sophie Turner - Got bullied off of almost every social media at some point for playing Sansa. She's also the victim of almost every misogynist GOT fan on the internet all for playing Sansa.
Emilia Clarke - Has been sexually harassed in public and gets bullied online for being a "terrible actress" for doing what the script and director tells her because she played Daenerys.
Tom Glynn-Carney - Got rape allegations put against him on twitter because of the episode where Aegon rapes Dyana. They said that because Aegon is a rapist Tom is too.
I have said this time and time again, you guys are fucking EMBARRASSING!! Get a god damn grip on yourselves and instead of acting like morons who can't separate character from actor/actress go outside and breathe in some fresh fucking air.

Women’s Roles in House of the Dragon (Baela and Rhaena edition)
Every day I wake up and see people arguing that it’s an anti-feminist take to say that Rhaena and Baela’s plot lines have felt lackluster this season. They have, and it has little to do with fans hating their gender (or race) and it has everything to do with their lack of screen time and differentiating characteristics. The major racist or sexist take (to me) is the idea that the reason the writers feel like it’s ok to cut their time is because they are black characters. However that’s not really the argument I’ve seen so far. It’s been more people denying that their storylines are boring at all (and that the people that think so are just being racist or sexist), so let’s look at why people might feel like their stories are boring besides simply prejudice:
If you compare the major plot points of Rhaena for example, one of my preferred TB characters, it’s not all that different from Aemond’s initial storyline. Except where Aemond diverged and is now taking power in a maniacal way, she is ever prudent and still stuck in the eyrie waiting for something to happen. She has all the reason in the world to resent her family for casting her aside but we barely see any of her reactions to things (except for within expositional scenes which don’t lend themselves to characterization in the same way as action or more casual scenes do). I WANT her to be more interesting so that the scenes we see of her are more appealing to casual fans/non team black stans. I benefits all of us to use the time spend with Baela and Rhaena on further conflict and intrigue.
Compare that to people like Addam and Alyn, who actually are doing/preparing for things in their scenes and talking to eachother like siblings. They laugh and interact and we hear about their problems, but they also have disagreements and strain in their relationship despite them still loving each other due to their difference in position. It’s not that B&R don’t have this potential: I’m excited at the prospect of seeing Rhaena claim a dragon. I think Baela patrolling was really cool and a good way to get the audience hyped, but we have yet to see her do that again. She and her sister have consistently been relegated to background characters after their individual dialogue scenes- so we as the audience have relatively little to attach to emotionally. I’m not saying you can’t like or see yourself in these characters, I’m saying that their story lines in general feel less relevant to the overall plot and more feel like devices to prepare for something that may impact the plot down the line in an abstract way.
If anything, the feminist take should be: let the female characters have more agency and then when their scenes come on it will feel less like watching someone thrown into the winds. Or if you’re going to throw them into the winds, then focus on THAT aspect of their characterization more than just listening to her talk about how she feels. Let’s see how they react and make decision. Let’s see how those decisions further influence the plot. Let’s see them make mistakes or argue or even just laugh and smile with each other. Please give us characters that have strong personality traits, even if they are ‘nice’ people.
I understand feeling upset that people don’t like your favorite character. I hate when people bash my favorite character (Helaena) too, but I think a lot of the complaints about her ALSO stem from her lack of agency. People feel it less since she has more scenes and differentiating characteristics as a tragic neurodivergent/magical character, so that it has thus far not been as much of an issue. Her characterization is evident when watching her behaviors in stressful situations which is a plus, but she could still have do more to do as well.

Mini rant because boy oh boy am I tired of seeing this justification for why Rhaenyra was usurped.
“I lean more towards Team Green because Rhaenyra did nothing to solidify her claim to the throne.”
I’m going to mention some points from one of my previous posts so be warned. The Seven Kingdoms are ruled through a monarchy, where the crown goes to the named heir (who is typically the firstborn son, though this is not the case for this situation, and there are no laws that state a firstborn son has to inherit) upon their death, and so forth. Rhaenyra did not need to prove anything to anyone about whether she was fit to rule and regardless, this claim is just blatantly dishonest considering she’d been ruling Dragonstone since she was 16. What exactly did Aegon do that makes him so much better suited for the throne than her? Nothing, besides having a cock. He instead chose to spend his time leading up to the war by whoring and drinking. Alicent and Otto also do not factor into this, because they are not potential claimants to the throne. This is an Aegon vs Rhaenyra conversation.
As much as I dislike Viserys, he was well within his rights to name Rhaenyra as his heir, regardless if he had sons. Many heirs and rulers came before Rhaenyra who proved that they were not suited to rule, Aenys and her father Viserys come to mind. Maegor saved the Targaryen dynasty, but he still wasn’t a good ruler. Most of Aegon I rule was done by Rhaenys and Visenya; with Jaehaerys being the only good ruler of this bunch, and still; most of the laws he put into place could be credited to Septon Barth and Alysanne. This is only a list of rulers that came before Rhaenyra/Aegon, with many, many more disappointing ones coming after them (Aegon IV and Aerys II I’m looking at you). I’m of the firm belief that this is just another excuse for someone to be misogynistic without being super obvious about it. Hold the male characters to the same standards that you hold the female characters. We live in the 21st century, not Westeros.

Daemon is gonna come home and find his ex banging his wife and I hope he flies off the rails (I know he won’t but the idea is really funny because it’s your fault bob the builder)
Alicent is gonna find out Rhaenyra like women and fucking kill herself (again she won’t but my rhaenicent heart would devour it because again it’s your fault mother mary)
Mysaria DO NOT FUCK THIS UP I will hunt your ass down because MY QUEEN does NOT need anymore heartbreak. (And hopefully she won’t because why would she need too?)
On another note it should have been me. I WANNA KISS RHAENYRA TARGARYEN AND MAKE HER FEEL WORTHY AND LOVED AND CARED FOR. PLEASE ONE CHANCE!!!! One chance my queen ✋😭 please 🙏

House of The Dragon Hot Take #11
House Targaryen is an allegory for colonization. From the very start of their line they have taken things that aren't theirs. Whether it be people, land, kingdoms, and lives. Until Aegon I, Visenya, and Rhaenys came around and waged war against everyone in Old Valyria and the neighboring kingdoms, House Targaryen really wasn't all that important. They weren't even the most powerful house in the kingdom because it wasn't their kingdom until they tore it away from the rulers and killed the people who disagreed. Same with what they did with Dorne for years. House Targaryen is full of colonizers, blood purists, and terrorists of all kinds. While this is not me saying I hate every Targaryen character, I am saying that it's important to know that they are a realistic representation of colonization because:
They came in > They stole the land and the throne > They killed the people that disagreed or tried to defend themselves > Their families took over until their house finally died out.
