There are definitely HOTD fans who are crazy about this craze around illegitimate children. As if they are inherently inferior and disgusting because they were not born into marriage. It really doesn't sit right with them. Especially since GRRM has always been clear that the value of these people had nothing to do with their birth. These people forget one of the main points of a story they claim to love. And beyond that, their comments disgust me.

Having Alyn say he's Salt and Sea after what Baela said to Corlys just to justify Corlys making him his heir?

Are you telling me that Alyn after hearing that his brother became a dragon rider and he has a high chance of repeating his feat turned down that opportunity?

I never expect anything from the show and yet they end up disappointing me.

Although with the personality Alyn has been showing in the past few episodes I guess I could see it coming.

Rant incoming!

Everything that 90% of this fandom knows about Dragon Riding is bullshit.

Look, GRRM has spent a lot of time in the books hinting and laying the ground work that the requirements to be a dragon rider is not as exclusive as the Targaryens want people to believe.

1.) Having Valyrian blood does not mean you are predisposed to be a Dragon rider. The Velaryons have pure Valyrian blood and were never dragon riders. They were, in fact, forced to the fringes of the Valyrian Empire because they were treated like second class citizens because they weren't Dragon Lords.

A.) The only reason that Laenor and Laena were Dragon Riders was because Rhaenys was their mother, thus they're part Targaryen, thus Dragon Lords.

2.) Having Dragon Lord Blood - like the Targaryens - makes it easier to tame and hatch a dragon, but it is not a guarantee you will. Nor is it the only way that you can mount a Dragon.

3.) There are three common born Dragon Seeds that tamed dragons without any Dragon Lord Blood. Nettles and the Hulls. Nettles is widely accepted to be no one of consequence who tricked Sheep Stealer into befriending her. The Hulls also claimed dragons while having no Targaryen blood. They claim to be sons of Laenor, except Laenor is in the Pride Month Hall of Fame, so he is obviously not their father. They could be Corlys's sons ... which, fair enough. But while Corlys might be pure Valyrian. he hasn't a drop of Dragon Lord blood in his veins. So, if they're not Laenor's bastards ... then they're not Dragon Lords, thus they're commoners that tamed Dragons.

My point is that A+C=D is not only possible, its fucking probable. And if A+C=D there is about 100 ways that you can explain how Daeron hatched and tamed Tessarion. #1 being that he just spent a ton of time in the Hightower which is the very center of Magic in Westeros. You mean to tell me that the Hightowers nor the Citadel have books on taming and hatching dragons that they've been hiding from the Targaryens?

You need to widen your gaze and open your mind, Nonny ...
