Ship Preferences

Here are the results for the top 8 most popular favorite ships (Rayllum, Viravos, Janaya, Ruthari, Claaravos, Virrow, Sorvus and Terridia), showing which other ships they were written in together with.

While some ships can have equal numerical votes, the percentage reveals the difference in how significant this number is overall. For instance, 21 shippers who chose Rayllum as their favorite ship also chose Janaya, and vice versa. While that's roughly 23% of Rayllum shippers, it's almost 43% of Janaya shippers.

Also, notice how most ships on the table are just a rotation of the same eight most popular ships, with the exception of Claaravos shippers who are most likely to name Raydia as their other favorite ship.

While most other shippers have Rayllum as their most popular choice, Virrow and Terridia are most likely to consider Viravos as their other favorite ship, with Virrow shippers being the overwhelming majority. Time and time again, this proves to be a unique position in our fandom, as most other shippers don't seem to be as keen to ship what I would like to call "sister ships".

Sister Ships

I would like to define sister ships as two or more ships which share one of the shipped characters.

I would like to define rival ships as ships that have had some actual rivalry (or other forms of animosity) in the fandom (it is subjective data, based on my own observation and people sharing their experiences).

Here are the sister (blue) and rival (red) ships for Rayllum, Viravos, Claaravos, Sorvus, Virrow and Raydia. Some of the rival ships have mutual shippers (for example, Rayllum and Sorayla - there was one person who considered both ships their favorite) but I also added rival ships with no overlap, to illustrate how Rayllum is the most likely to have shippers also consider rival ships their favorite ships, while Claaravos shippers are the least likely to do so.

The popular ships not included on the tables:

Janaya has no sister ships and one rival ship - Gremaya - with no overlapping shippers.

Terridia has no sister ships and one rival ship - Claaravos - with no overlapping shippers.

Ruthari has no sister or rival ships.

Viren Ships

Getting back to Virrow, this truly is the king of sister ships in the Favorite Ships category. Not only does it have the biggest number of them (8), it also has no rival ships, at least not to my knowledge.

And this is actually a unique aspect of Viren ships - there hasn't seemed to be any animosity among them and many Viren fans tend to multiship him. Which is why I decided to make a Viren ship matrix based on the Viren ships that were chosen as people's favorites together with other Viren ships. The deeper orange are the ships that were written in only with other Viren ships.

The biggest overlap is, of course, between Viravos and Virrow (the two biggest Viren ships) but you can see the sheer number of Viren ships that made it on the Favorite Ships list. In fact, he is the most shipped character in this category

And while Rayla, Soren and Aaravos are close seconds, their shippers aren't as connected among each other.

Please bear in mind that this is only true for Favorite Ships. In the General Shipping Category, you will see a lot more overlap between not only sister ships but also rival ships.

Bharatiya Janata party loses its majority after 10 years and has to depend on allies to form a government which wasn't predicted by any exit polls which were claiming that BJP will alone get over 350 seats and thus the result has been celebrated by the opposition despite its defeat and they also managed to capture many seats on BJP's strongholds specifically in UP

Attention Dragon Prince shippers!

Today is the first day of spring and I decided to make a shipping poll to see which ships are popular in the fandom. I will be collecting responses from March 1 until March 31, closing the poll at 10PM (22:00) CET. I will later present the results on tumblr tagged as #tdp-ship-poll.

The poll consists of three questions: what ships you ship, what your favorite ship is, and how old you are. You may choose to ignore the last question - I'm just curious if there's a correlation between the age of the characters shipped and that of the people who ship them.

I spent the last couple of days going through tumblr and ao3 to find any ships I didn’t know about and these make up the list you see in the poll. I don’t know if I got all the ship names correctly - some ships had more than one and I just chose what sounded best. I’m sure there are some ships I missed. If that happens to be a ship that you like - I would be happy if you added it as one of your ships under the option “Other”. If you ship characters with yourself or your OC’s, add the entry as “[character’s name] x me” and “[character name x OC]. Cross-fandom ships are also acceptable.

Hiya!! Since my shipping art has gotten some attention lately I wanted to address how I deleted some of my viravos drawings/comics on my  NSFW Twitter -that’s why the links are broken. I ended up deleting the drawings ‘cause people reposted them on shady hentai websites- which is both kind of funny and also not really. It’s just so very... internet.

I guess I took it kind of personally since viravos fandom isn’t that big (it’s like 5% of all the TDP shippers according to some polls) and I don’t even know that many active fan artists for the ship. I only know like 2-3 or sumthing.

I’m now posting NSFW art of them again though because Twitter is pretty much the only place that allows that. I’ve got a Pillowfort but that’s for my original art.

I don’t mean to sound like this is the WORST THING EVER but since my Twitter fandom experience has been pretty bad in general this annoys me somewhat. Twitter’s algo shows me a lot of exhausting discourse and bad takes because that’s how Twitter works, unfortunately. It just jump scares you with random weird takes sometimes. What can I say but:

Little things add up. Anyways, I’m still glad Twitter has a lot of talented fan artists and my commentors are lovely!  While I love shittalking Tumblr as someone who has been here for +10 years my fandom experience has been so much better here!<3 thank you for that!

Hello and welcome to the second TDP Shipping Poll! It’s an online survey that will help us understand the shipping preferences of our fandom. I ran the first poll in 2020 after season 3 and now that season 5 is approaching, I decided it was time to run a new one. Two new ones, actually, as I would like to run one poll before and one - after the upcoming and later compare the results. 

So let’s start with this one. The poll will run from June 1st to July 1st. I’m leaving the exact hours vague because I might need an extra hour or two to finish things up. I also leave myself the right to extend the poll if such need arises (e.g. I am physically unable to close the poll or the number of votes is very low)

How does this work?

The poll consists of three main parts: general questions, opinions about specific ships and the final wrap up. The general section covers basic demographic information as well as your shipping preferences. The questions about specific ships are divided into 6 categories to make the lists more manageable. Please note that the 6th category is dedicated to controversial ships - adult/minor, incest and ships with animals. This category will be hidden and you will be able to see it if you choose to.

Which ships are included?

Basically, all ships I've encountered online as well as the ships that people asked me to add, with the only exception being ships with the characters from Tales of Xadia (at least for now). If a ship you like wasn't included, you can submit it manually at the end of the poll and I will include it in the next poll.

Why were problematic ships included?

They are part of our fandom's shipping preferences and without them the picture would be incomplete. As mentioned before, they are hidden and you won't accidentally see them.

However, it is worth pointing out that I only consider adult/minor, incest and animal ships to be problematic. The following may not be everyone's cup of tea, but they're perfectly normal ships: - young adult x late teen ships where the age difference between the young adult and the teen is 5 years or less;

- older adult x young adult ships no matter the age gap. Both characters are adults;

- human/dragon or elf/dragon ships when both characters are adults.

Please remember that just because something squicks you out, doesn't mean it's inherently problematic.

Where will the results be posted?

The results will be published on twitter, tumblr, TDP subreddit and dreamwidth. I will publish the results bit by bit, because there are a lot of different categories to work through.

this poll is causing so much drama in twitter (basically spop stans mad bc she-ra is losing)

i mean drama on twitter is wild to begin with, but it’s like, personal preference rules all? shera went up against voltron (which should’ve been not a close competition in votes, dear god) and carmen sandiego (which i love). if it had gone up against hilda, too, i would’ve picked shera as well!

but for the other side of the board, i wouldn’t have picked shera over any of those other options. i adore race to the edge, trollhunters, and 3below. i would’ve probably picked trollhunters over every show offered except maybe rtte (even then, a real toss up) and definitely tdp, but those are all personal preferences?? and vary wildly??

i’m not in the shera fandom (although post-s1 i did have a sideblog for a bit) and i love the show, but it’s by no means perfec. no show is and again, a lot of it comes down to subjectivity and preferences; i felt like some of the drama between Adora and Glimmer in S4 was contrived, for someone else, that could’ve been their favourite part of the season! Great, awesome, glad they enjoyed what I couldn’t! i will also say that, if i’m remembering correctly, shera’s only disabled character is a villain who most people in the fandom are against redeeming and. think that speaks for itself

however, i did one day go into the shera tag and from a lot of the posts it sounds like they have drama all the time? someone made a wheel of things the fandom tends to fight about — ship wars, which thankfully tdp doesn’t really have, but normal enough — but also stuff like ace discourse, which as an ace person??? nooo thank you

I might dabble in more rarepairs in the near future, whether or not Soren/Nyx gets art would probably depend on if they win the poll if I decide to do it that way again. I do think they're cute though! They definitely have their charm. I remember they were briefly(??) semi-popular in the subreddit.

If I do the poll method, I might host it on here instead of twitter just for a change of pace? I imagine there's at least a little bit of different interests here, and I'll be able to include more than 4 options. Only issue is my following here is way smaller (especially after moving accounts) so unless including it in the tdp tag helps, I might not see much response, idk yet!

And if this isnrsquo;t enough confusion, add the rebel leaders, independents, ldquo;friendly contestsrdquo; in constituencies where an arrangement between the allied parties could not be reached, and you have the script for yet another Great Expectations episode in the series of Indian elections. Letrsquo;s start with the firsts. After its creation in 2014, this is Telanganarsquo;s first Assembly Election. The first Legislative Assembly of Telangana was dissolved before term, calling for early elections in December 2018, as opposed to being called alongside Parliamentary Elections in May 2019. And now for the head-turning first, the first of firsts, if you wish: Chandrababu Naidursquo;s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) joining hands with the Congress, a party it has vehemently opposed since its inception in 1982. But will party heads be able to convincingly justify their decision to the cadre on the ground? The alliance has so far also dodged the issue of declaring their CM candidate. There is also the trouble of a strong campaign face for the alliance. Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Chandrababu Naidu are the star campaigners, not one face though, from the contesting candidate fray. On the other side is the sharp-witted and crowd savvy KCR family -- clear in its candidature, sarcasm, war plan and power centre. With no permanent foes or friends in politics, analysts feel that the Congress, TRS, TDP, BJP and AIMIM are all testing waters through alliances and veiled support, before they re-group, re-align and re-negotiate in May 2019. For now, the burden of finding sense in this chaos and making a choice is on the voter.
