Karim using the sun seed to heal Sol Regem is such a great metaphor for how trying to restore the past squanders the possibility of a future
The sun seed could’ve become a great relic. It could’ve brought light and life to the sunfire elves. All it needed was love, nurturing, and time.
But Karim wasn’t satisfied with that. He wanted the sunfire elves to revert back to a ‘simpler’ time, one of discrimination and animosity. He took the sun seed, a rare, powerful item, to heal Sol Regem. All to restore his civilization to a time long past.
He robbed his people of a future.

You know its so funny to me that Karim is always going on and on about how History will be looking back at him as a great ruler and savior of the Sunfire Empire but like at this point he’s gonna be a fun fact foot note.
Children will be learning about The Warrior Queen, Janai and her Queen consort, Amaya and on the side there’s just a little:
Fun Fact!
“Did you know Queen Janai’s younger brother, Former Prince Karim, attempted to overthrow his sister 3 times and all times he failed in increasingly worse ways!”

Just rewatched The Red Wedding and thinking about the word idealist and how it relates to Karim and Ezran this episode. Idealist can mean a person who is guided more by ideals than by practical considerations, and it can also mean someone who strives for an ideal, or for an optimistic goal. Ezran embodies the latter; he believes in peace, and he is willing to fight for it even in the face of unflinching opposition. But Ezran is very much not the former; Karim is. Karim is guided more by his ideals, and puts less thought into the strategic side of it. In s4 he challenges his sister before he has the full support of enough politically key individuals, on the impetus that he believes himself right. He hires Kim’dael and is unable to follow through on what he promises her, and he doesn’t learn from either of these failures. Ezran came to the meeting calm and collected and with his heart on his sleeve, because he genuinely believes in the power of love and peace, and not just as a dream but a decision, as he puts it; he speaks for and negotiates for peace with his whole chest, but he plans contingencies. Corvus is at his side; Aanya takes up a sniper position some distance away; and Zym lies in wait. Ezran is guided by his ideals, but he isn’t foolish. He knows what kind of lions den he’s walking into, and he has a very hope for the best, prepare for the worst, kind of strategy in place. He covers his back. Karim does not do this. Karim had no plan for if Sol Regem didn’t show; it was just so unthinkable to him. He was so confident in his own righteousness and his own myth, his own destiny, that he doesn’t have any back ups, he has planned no contingencies, and hoodwinked his own followers with his overinflated opinion of himself and his destiny. Even Miyana didn’t seem to consider that they could lose today, or what to do if such an event came to pass. It’s why she’s willing to be so plain about attitudes she’s had all along, but kept closer to her chest. Her disdain for the humans, her belief in Karim’s Sunfire Empire. “Open your eyes, Little King,” (use of a diminutive to demean) “You cannot be blind to destiny.” She believes in Karim’s total victory today as much as he does. She may rebuke Ezran for being “blind to destiny”, but she’s blinded by destiny, or Karim’s belief in it. Even she, the traditionally more careful of the pair, plans no contingencies, even though she’s always seemed the greater strategist. Things don’t really go ideally (pun intended) for either of them on this day, but Ezran was prepared, and Karim was not. They’re both idealists in the most wonderfully opposite ways

The beauty of the pronunciation of his name cannot be conveyed in writing.
That's my part for the "The Dragon Prince" zine🧡
I have a strange habit of choosing secondary characters for such projects, but I don't regret anything :,)

Anyone else feel like the poses were on another level this season? Especially the way they were sitting. They all sat like bisexuals. Like the way Karim was sitting in his throne while talking to Ez, the way Miyana was sitting on those rocks in episode two, the way they would sit when they were overwhelmed (like Janai after burning the tree), and though this isn't really sitting, the way Rayla flopped back over onto the bed after Callum ran away with the blanket?? How many bisexuals did they need to study for this

Karim really heard “I lost my hope long before I lost my sight” and went “we should betray my sister so we can get his sight back :)”

me pre s6 going "haha wouldn't it be Funny if ezran and prince karim became foils for one another, there's some parallels but not a ton but there could be more" and then they're both mourning fallen kingdoms and family heirlooms and disagreeing with their older siblings and "if you love your sister than it's not too late for you to make better choices" and being so very lost and angry

I’m so curious what nonsense Karim is going to get up to in season 7 because that insufferable history nerd ended season 6
Having just enacted a plan that in theory would have worked really well in the short term but I do have to wonder what exactly he planned to do to hold onto power in the long term. Like I can’t imagine having a dragon slaughter 5 armies worth of his own people would make him very popular among the rest of the sunfire civilians. Was he expecting the survivors to welcome him with open arms after he killed their friends and family? Also how exactly did mans plan to deport all the humans living in Xadia? Cause I get the feeling he did just want to deport them, not kill them, but Sol Regem definitely just wanted to barbecue them all and I can’t see Karim talking him out of that. So how did he plan on that going? He endorses Sol Regem barbecuing the humans and he becomes very unpopular with anyone who’s made human friends in the last couple years. He doesn’t endorse it and he starts his reign looking like he can’t control what happens in his own kingdom. Just food for thought.
^wait actually I’m not done on this point. What was his plan with kidnapping Ezran? What was the end goal of that? To manipulate Janai and/or Amaya into surrendering? To use him as leverage in border negotiations with Katolis? Just to demonstrate his power as king? What was the point of kidnapping Ezran besides just preventing him from warning Janai and Amaya about Sol Regem? In short I feel like Karim made a really good short term plan and did not think through any of what would happen when it succeeded.
But anyway the plan did not succeed, because Sol Regem was off torching Katolis and so Karim and what little of his army didn’t turn tail and run got their asses kicked.
So either he is killed in battle or he is captured by Janai (and this time she may actually kill him for interrupting her wedding and trying to kill not just her or Amaya, but 5 armies worth of people.)
Or he pulls off some miraculous escape (probably thanks to Miyana) and potentially still has Corvus as a hostage?
He probably doesn’t know that Sol Regem is dead, and so thinks he was abandoned and will probably have a little crisis of faith about that.
God he is going to be insufferable if he finds out Sol Regem died in Katolis and tries to use that to rally support for his cause.
My point is that this character annoys me so much but I am intrigued what they’re going to do with him next.

Pharos is Aaravos Marionette, someone on YouTube had the same thought as me and they made a video. If thats still true Miyana and Karim just gave Aaravos an Army.
