Imagine you're living together or he's over at your place for the night or something and has to get up early for work obviously. You stumble out of the bedroom, rubbing the sleep out of your eyes in some kind of oversized sleep attire (maybe even a shirt of his) because the soft clinking and ratteling of someone making a caf while trying to stay quiet woke you up. Not to mention the loss of warmth next to you in bed. And he just stands there on the counter of your little kitchen like this looking at your sleepy face with that tiny smirk, right before making you a pot of caf as well, handing it to you and stretching his arm out for you to snuggle into his side. Both of you sipping your caf in comfortable silence, just enjoying the last few minutes you have together before he's gotta go on his next mission or whatever.

Went wading waaay back through my tag for fics that I've read tonight and stumbled upon this gem again. I honestly think this remains one of my favorite "fatherly" Rex fics that I've read in a long time; possibly even ever because it was one of the first I read like this?
