There are two tarot decks that I have no conscious memory of purchasing but here they are: The Acacia Tarot and the Sola Busca.

The Kickstarter for the Acacia Tarot was joined in a feverish blackout several years ago. I had seen the offer, passed on the cards, went to click on something else but woke up in bed instead. I didn't realize I had joined the Kickstarter until the next day when I received the email announcing the successful funding of the project.

That deck kicked off no few shenanigans when it arrived and eventually became an inspiration for a book.

When the Sola Busca had become available as a limited edition, I had been through some shit and had sworn off "unnecessary purchases". I knew I didn't have the budget nor the space for wild speculation, and I was determined not to let myself get caught up in FOMO. Not to mention, the whole "The Game of Saturn" business was also far outside of my reading and understanding. The last thing I needed was a tarot deck that came with other people's sandbags.

I closed the tab and went to do something else but suddenly I was smelling burning metal and then... Well... Let's just say there was a visitation and leave it at that.

By the time I bothered to check my email later in the day, the order was already set in stone and cancelling wasn't an option. When it arrived, I read the accompanying book cover to cover and poked at the slates cards now and then, but I could never do anything more than look at the images and feel the inside of my scalp turn in uncomfortable ways.

I've low-key been wanting to sell or pass the deck along for some time because I felt really bad about having something (initially) limited in nature but doing nothing with it. But then I remember how it got to me in the first place. Even after last year's challenge to do something with the Sola Busca and the TrueBlack Tarot, I was able to work the TBT into regular rotation at Noxporium, but the Sola Busca defies being used as a mere divination deck.

According to Peter Mark Adam's "The Game of Saturn", the solstices have no small importance to the designer of the Sola Busca. I'm not surprised in the least that even in early May, I was getting poked to use the Sola Busca for something solstice related. The poking just got harder and when @graveyarddirt announced Solstice Squad 2023, the poking became an unbearable itch.

This post isn't an update to Solstice Squad 2023 - Summer.

More of an explanation why when I do post about the matter, why (1) it's not going to make sense and (2) it's going to sound made the fuck up. Granted, I know that 99.9% of what we wooish folk write already falls into both categories, but everything has a limit.

How about a TBT? Do we still do that? Is Mama Bear really old and doing uncool stuff? Don’t tell me, I don’t wanna know.

This week marks one year since I wrote - and finished - my first TLOU story. The brain rot set in as early as January 2023, and I spent most of March writing a story that I ultimately scrapped.

Sometime in April 2023, I heard the song “Til Forever Falls Apart” by Ashe & FINNEAS - there has been a TLOU TikTok edit utilizing the song and I thought it was incredible - I couldn’t get it out of my head. Since then, to me, the song is the quintessential Joel & Ellie song.

The story is very much found family, mostly fluffy, an adventure for Joel & Ellie when he takes her to a long-abandoned shopping mall and a peek into Joel’s past, going back before Sarah was born. Although it could be either a game or show story, it’s probably the only story I’ve written where the show bleeds through the most.

“Til Forever Falls Apart” is special to me because it was my first story, and even though it’s probably riddled with problems, I won’t go back and change anything - I love it as is

Lots of highs and lows. The highest of highs and lowest of lows.

Judith brought me the last set of throne of glass books to borrow!

I surprisingly heard back from drew about my scans. The scans were concerning and I need to get a lumbar puncture to help make decisions on next steps. There’s 4 new nodules, 1cm, with edema.

I took the call and updated mom dad and Nathan in a hallway by a bathroom.

I cried in front of my whole class and 2 professors. Not my best moment.

Nathan picked me up from school.

We got boba and talked in the car for a while.

I went to target for snacks and shin ramen.

I felt too jittery to eat much or read the new books.

I passed all 3 midterms :)

Nathan made a small dinner for us with my fav food: salmon, tea, and rice. We matched anime and ate. A classic :)

I used the container Lisa and meng gave us to make our snacks look cute.

Linlin and Andy came over to watch the warriors v lakers game and play poker. I love them :)

We planned a really spontaneous and bougie day in Carmel tomorrow. We’ll leave in the morning, eat at la bicyclette, go to refuge!!! And get fancy massages and spa stuff with hydro cycling?? Thermo cycling?? I’m not sure how it works but I’m excited. Then Sunday we’ll go to davis to surprise mom for Mother’s Day. Tbt to the time I came to woodland to surprise her during Covid. Nathan will have to go back Monday morning but I think I might stay in davis for a few days and do class remotely.

I need to pack.

Overall, a lumbar puncture isn’t the end of the world. I can do hard things. If it requires tx then I’ll weigh the pros and cons.

It’ll be a fun weekend. It’s already been an amazing Friday.

The final day of CincemaCon could have easily been called Tom Cruise day as Paramount showcase two of his films, amid their wares.

which reveals that it is named MISSION IMPOSSIBLE - DEAD RECKONING PART ONE, scheduled for a July 24, 2023 release.

Which is insane as they are currently filming MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 8 so I take it to mean MI7 is actually split into two parts and the 8th - and likely final- film is its own film. Or maybe they have just not formally announced that MI8 is no more and the currently filming one is, indeed, MI: DEAD RECKONING PART TWO. In any case the currently shooting one is slated for a June 28, 2024 release.

In any case: TBT the tremendous women of Mission Impossible (not counting the women who didn't stick around like Maggie Q and Paula Patton).

The event closed out with the attendees seeing TOP GUN: MAVERICK in its entirety.

Delayed from a 2020 release and a whopping 36 years after the first film, Tom Cruise returns to the role of Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, who returns to train newbies (which includes Miles Teller and Glen Powell-

(in the tradition of Cruise gifting his costars, like Dakota Fanning who still receives shoes for her birthday from him, and others who get an annual Christmas cake, Powell was gifted flight training so he could get a pilot license).

By all accounts the movie by the attendees and some have even took time to say how great Lady Gaga's song for the film is. Berlin's "Take My Breath Away" and Kenny Loggins' "Danger Zone" are big shoes to fill, Stephanie. Let's see if her track stands the test of the time.
