And YES!!!- holy moly did I get WHIPLASH on my first playthrough. I thought the game glitched, tbh. Like, not a SECOND after Shar has excommunicated her, and she’s on the literal ground in agony, she’s confessing her undying love for Tav and asking to make their relationship real??

Give the girl a tenday or two 😅 she’s emotionally distraught and everything she knew was a lie. It makes sense that she’d withdraw, even, or go to a snarky and defensive place while she unlearns Shar’s ways. I think the final push Shadowheart would need is realizing that Tav (or whoever her LI is) is there for her in her darkest hour, and isn’t going anywhere!

Sorry, just discovered your public knowledge au, its hilarious. I think 'realistically' I like the Only Miraculous wielders & whoever they tell knows version as it could feel a bit less cracky though it'd still beg why they don't bring other heroes in to collectively stomp Gabriel as they know his location. Though that just has me imagining him palming it off on his various rich friends like a hot potato. Anyway two main thoughts:

`1: For the just Holders know AU, Gabriel owns up to his motives right away & almost convinces the kids. Except Fu shows up & reveals that its basically a monkeys paw and more people will die if he makes is wish. Gabriel insists he s smart enough to work around that (He also just doesn't care) but Tikki & Plagg are like, "Literally we have no control over this, it goes to shit every single time, sorry."

In essence, its his ego and control freak nature that mean Gabriel refuses to give up even when he and everyone else know he should quit. Its probably kind of a sad/rough start for Adrien especially, but also leads to very quick positive vibes with Marinette & more direct mentorship.

I try to! Being in smaller, dying fandoms prior to landoscar meant I had way fewer comments, so it's kind of a shock to see just how involved people are here. I promise I'll eventually get to all of them, but I do read and appreciate every single one, especially on the lab fic I posted recently.

So this is a fun question because I'd only ever written fics for fandoms without source materials in English before F1. When I write dialogue in "another language," I usually just use English and italicize it. I can't be assed to bother with google translate and worry about inaccuracies. Phrases like fengshui or morior invictus that don't really have the same impact translated into English just get italicized.

a pretty even switch, doesn't lean to one side over the other

mostly tickles Abby ofc, mainly to cheer her up if she's feeling lonely

he's a pretty quiet ler, doesn't say too much but has the most mischievous smile ever

ofc he's a great ler he's an older brother what did you expect

a big raspberry blower, loves how much they make Abby squeal and laugh because he thinks it's the best sound in the whole wide world

his stubble would make it 100x worse help

as a lee he's also pretty quiet, this man tries so hard not to laugh like his life depends on it but always fails every time

pretty much only ever tickled by Abby, although Vanessa did accidentally brush against his side once when they were passing each other in a narrow hallway at Freddy's and he jumped out of his skin (she still has no idea what happened)

has quiet, breathy chuckles and laughs, but will legit squeal if you get him in a bad spot (eg: his shoulder blades which Abby thinks is hilarious)

Alright so. I’ve had the experience of When Calls the Heart (Hallmark) bc my mom is watching it. Here’s my thoughts so far.

1- Idk if this show has a historical consultant. But if so whosever it’s is seems to have a policy of “show up when I want and say what I want”.

2- the most based take this show has had in 12? seasons is “Pinkerton’s suck”.

3- Every time something interesting almost happens it is over in moments.

4- a woman had chicken pox (it’s roughly 1912) and looked stunning the whole time.

5- truly. Plz. Let these people act! I’m falling asleep.

6- shout out to the first couple episodes of season 1 where things are actually happening, people get to act, and it feels like a better consultant is on set.

7- Did I mention that the historical accuracy is not very good? It’s not, but admittedly most of it is just ok the cusp of “that’s too early or skirting the edge or too early”. No wonder peoples view of the past is so skewed. That said it has started to get better, I can only assume whoever their consultant is care more about this or the upcoming era.

8- this series is based on a Christian book series. I find it very funny that despite this they have struggled to keep a pastor.

9- the cast history is hilarious. Here are the reasons—

A) the love interest character (a mounty) from the books, his actor wanted to leave so they just killed him and had no idea what to do with the main characters romance plot. So they just gave her two love interests and a baby. She has somehow convinced herself that she wants the lightly shady salon owner -btw I was so excited for him to be shadier but no, not really- and not the new mounty she’s clearly in love with. Also the new Mounties niece-daughter (adoption) has been shipping them since they met and adopted Mc as her new mom by force. Including only inviting her uncle/dad and MC to her adoption hearing.

b) remember that California college scandle a few years ago? The mom actress from that was one of the best actors and characters on the show. Bc of it they cut her out and removed her scenes abruptly and just did a voice over that she left. Oh this also meant the child actor playing her adopted son had to be cut. Poor kid. Also her character had like 3-5 love interests Thru the show.

c) the intermittent villain -whose villainy is frankly, deeply boring- is bacially main cast. He keep becoming good only to be a villain again. He’s sorta the bad boy more old pathetic wet man with high blood pressure faced with mortality. Possibly most interesting character on the show. I think he used to be in soap operas. For the first few seasons whenever I saw him I thought he was a different person. He was previous female characters (above) love interest and rival.

d) the sheriff used to be a mounty. He’s also the town judge -no training for that besides mounty, and also hates lawyers- and almost mayor. He hates all new things. He owned a cafe with the kicked off character (above) and was also her love interest, and also of course the above guys rival -they have sorta become friends since then. his actor used to play a major villain in at least one soap opera. (Aside I’ve decided rn to start shipping the old men)

10- the MC best friend had to leave -as she was the one written off due to the actress personal scandal- so they had to make the quirky mild problem character her new best friend. New best friend used to be MC dead husbands fiancé before they broke up bc it was not ever happening. She is the only character who speaks with a North Atlantic accent Bc she was a NY actress before moving back to the Canadian rockies(? Wherever they are), the actress kills it tbh -she was also the one who looked immaculate despite having chicken pox as an adult.

12. The costuming is spotty. Beginning? Excellent. Middle? Looks like it came from the macys catalogue of the current year. Recently? Slightly better depending on character. Tbh for a bit I thought maybe the actors were supplying their own costumes, so it really boiled down to how much each actor cared and how good at cosplay they were.

Toaster got his name because he eats toast all the time. If you see him in the nook, you're basically guaranteed to see him with some toast covered in butter, cinnamon sugar, and honey.

He immigrated from Latin America, but for the life of him, Guy couldn't remember where exactly it was he came from. He wasn't paying attention when he was introduced; he was busy making sure the babysitter got his son settled in the hospital after an allergic reaction to some guacamole, and had been on his way out of the locker room to meet them there.

Guy did know his name is Leo Cortez, though.

The other man quickly wormed his way into Guy's heart, though, with offering food to whoever asked, and he brought some arepas in, and made Guy try it, and ok, he was mad his father never learned how to make them from his abuela, instead letting his mom make all the weird French food she liked*.

The day Toaster learned Guy spoke Spanish was hilarious, and it was funnier when he learned it was Guy's first language.

"You're from France??"

"My mom was from France, I was born in Mexico, actually."

The look on Toaster's face was worth Marty chirping him for being French (especially since Toaster and Guy both started speaking Spanish and let the Canadian be confused).

It wasn't until a year later that Toaster kissed him at the fourth of July party Thirdy was holding in his backyard, and Guy kissed him back, surprising the other man.

The kiss was worth paying the fine, if only because Vince was excited that his dad finally had a boyfriend.

*Guy is half Mexican, half French, and while he looks more like his mom, he grew up in Mexico, speaking Spanish as his primary language, and French as his second language. English is his third language.

Idk an au idea for Guy's boyfriend. I'm not settled on Toaster's first name, but I always flipflop in shipping Guy with either Scraps or Toaster (or Carly, the dickhead from the Aces tbh) and I just wanted to do something to share Toaster properly.

I did get Taylor tickets last year HOWEVER they were... beyond atrocious, the seats. Like, upper upper deck, BEHIND the stage with like no visibility, not even of the screens, because again: BEHIND. I had like three people trying to get tickets that day and 2/3 of us failed but my friend succeeded and she was like "do you want me to buy these? they're upper deck" and I was like yeah yeah that's okay! We can look at the screens! And then I saw the "OBSTRUCTED VISIBILITY" thing and looked at the layout and I was like...kind of devastated, honestly? It's really hard for me to do an outing like that physically, it was outdoors in April (which translates to HOT in Florida) and I just didn't see myself able to endure 5 or 6 hours at minimum in the heat without like, passing out and dying. Not to mention I'm still really scared of being in a large space with that many people because my disease-modifying drug destroys most of my immune system. You’re always making each other laugh, even after a (rare) argument.

Kiriko is an easy person to warm up to, I can’t imagine it takes very long at all. Not if she has anything to do with it anyway.

She finds your ‘wine aunt’ tendencies hilarious. If you both need to complain about someone, she’ll casually open up a conversation with something along the lines of

to test the waters. 99% of the time you both like/dislike the same people though, so that can give way to a recreational bitching session.

It makes for a form of personal communication between just the two of you that, I’d imagine, most people you surround yourself with don’t understand.

It’s intimate, in a way. If you’re out with a group together and one of you wants to leave, you can communicate that and slip away without anyone else knowing.

Also linking back to complaining about people, WELL. That’s just a whole new world.

You have similar styles when it comes to clothes, but not in a way that makes you look boring, just coordinated.

I feel like Kiriko would have pretty basic music taste, but she’s an open minded person and would give you the aux when driving without complaint. You’d at least have some Mitski in common

(Even if the occasional ‘oh I’ve heard this song on TikTok’ drives you mental sometimes)

Oh thrifting and garage sales are a MUST. She loves that as well, although she lingers for so long.

But with Kiriko, the time passes easily and you’ve had such a good time you don’t even realise you’ve spent an hour looking at some dude’s car boot.

She’ll call them dates, even if it’s just going out to get something for the house. Or if it’s basically just hanging out.

But she goes ‘Cool, it’s a date!’ In a way that’s far too self-assured for you to object in any way.

But it’s much less serious, even when it maybe should be.

This girl INSTANTLY took a liking to you. And she wasn’t even sure why. But she made no secret of her opinion, always bugging you to get you to stay and talk to her, making up excuses to get your input on something, making little trinkets and giving them to you.

Once you’re actually close enough that she can just verbally request your presence for the sake of having you around, she does that a lot.

Dates/hangouts could range from just hanging around listening to music to pulling shenanigans and pranks together.

She’d approve of your music taste, you definitely have a blend playlist that she puts on when you’re just hanging out.

Her working on her gadgets, you knitting, with your playlist on, the silence between you interrupted with a

‘Is this mine or yours?’ As a Jinger song comes on, to which she shrugs.

She’d encourage you to practice tattooing on her

Whether you accept or not- she’s pretty reckless with her body.

You regulate her though. Shes not very consistent, so this doesn’t apply all the time, but she’s generally calmer around you.

It’s either she’s that loud, obnoxious way teenage boys get around their crushes (she wants to impress you) or she’s totally subdued, still very strange- she can be herself with you at least- but calmer. Like she’s afraid of scaring you off.

There’s a lot of that fear of losing with her, which can be a headache to deal with in itself, but if you have the patience and gentle hand she’ll be okay.

I laughed so much when I saw these, I show one inch of unraveling and yall pounce lmao You guys really want me to be the messiah huh? Just want me to let out the crazy! I guess everyone can blame you two for what is about to be unleashed then!! LMAO

Also, @seventhfracture my beloved it is hilarious that you chose to word this like that because one of the main things that plague my brain for Beyond and Mikami is an actual Cult leaders AU so like yes lets start the indoctrination, sure :’)

But alright alright here goes the rambling, because I make no promises of this being super coherent, but!

Beyond and Mikami have the most unhinged ship potential because they are exactly what the other wants, but in the worst way possible. I’m talking toxic levels of encouraging each other’s worst impulses, I’m talking “whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same”, but the thing the souls are made of is arsenic.

To me they are a twisted funhouse lawlight, but worse. Except, being worse is what lets them actually make it work because their thing isn’t competing, it’s encouraging.

Lawlight is all about I’m the only one who can stop them, I’m the only one who can keep up while Beyond and Mikami would be something more yes, yes kill them all, burn everything to the ground baby.

I will admit that I first started thinking about them in the silliest way. My brain just connected the dots between Beyond Birthday “I have never even been submissive to a traffic signal” and Teru Mikami “Kira’s most obediently submissive little worshiper” Mikami and I was was like oh, oh they would fuck so nasty!

And tbh I haven’t been able to stop thinking about them ever since lmao

And then, the more I though about it, the more I realized the dynamic between them would also be all kinds of interesting in ways other than just the kinky sex - which tbh, already makes the ship quite compelling in my book lmao. But the contrast in their personalities! The way they can give each other exactly what they want, but fully ruin one another in the process!!

To put it simply, Beyond has always wanted to be special and Mikami wants someone to worship. Now put them together? Nasty horrible codependence :’)

Growing up the way he did - Wammy’s, L, being the backup - Beyond has always been second best, has always craved being seen and valued. He has an arrogant sort of confidence that is a clear front for his feelings of not being good enough, not being worthy. And yet, he is the most unhinged, the most fearless, the most willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants - even in the midst of so many ruthless death note characters.

Similarly, Mikami doesn’t fear societal judgement. He thinks everyone else is wrong and he is the only wholesome righteous person alive, he thrives in not quite belonging because it allows him to twist himself into a “good man” martyr in his own mind - so much so that seeing someone acting in accordance to his own beliefs made him immediately assume that must be a God, because if he is heaven’s most perfect little angel, then whoever agrees with him while having more power to act on it must be a God. And yet! Mikami is just desperate to belong to someone, to make someone happy and in doing so, become someone valuable.

In a way, it’s all about their individual abandonment issues and lack of belonging and the way those experiences shaped them into people who find a wicked sort of comfort in their otherness.

In a way, that’s just like lawlight - except L and Light try to be justice, they try to do some good. But Beyond and Mikami don’t really care about what anyone’s perception of “good” is. Beyond doesn’t much care for good, unless it’s defined by someone he’s trying to impress and Mikami doesn’t think anyone but him truly understands what’s good (until of course he meets Light, but that’s not where we’re going with this). And that? The matching disregard for societal morality combined with the potential for codependency? It makes them a perfect template for absolutely deranged villains if ever put together!

And yes, Mikami’s whole strict orderly and organized way to go about things would probably clash with Beyond’s messier impulses at first. But that’s where their contrast becomes most interesting, because who better than crazy crazy Beyond Birthday to unravel Mikami’s uptightness? Who better to guide him into letting go? And Beyond’s single minded type of fearless focus given direction? Put under the guidance of Mikami’s certainty of a higher purpose? Beyond could take the shape of a chaotic vengeful God in Mikami’s eyes - as cruel and punishing as Mikami always dreamed consequences should be.

Meanwhile, Beyond - always second best to L, never good enough growing up, Backup - would revel in the worship, in being valued and it would likely push him to lean further into the whole thing - kill more, punish more, make it crueler. Not because that was his initial intention, but because he was raised to follow the instructions of someone he was meant to please and well, if falling in love means that person becomes Mikami rather than Watari, then too bad for the “criminals” of the world.

I think the fact that they feed each other’s desperation could be so… feral? I mean, Mikami is shown to thrive on scraps of affection - again, see Light - and Beyond has the potential for the type of cruelty - a byproduct of growing up at Wammy’s that L also displays, see Misa being tortured for example - that would make Mikami elevate him into the highest of pedestals, make him into that fearless God delivering divine punishment. He doesn’t share any of Light’s restraints due to trying to follow his dad’s moral code. Mikami is shown in canon to be even less forgiven than Light towards criminals, Beyond is supposed to be even less concerned about the greater good than L. Together? An absolute reign of terror! And the worship? The devotion?? That would probably be addictive to Beyond’s attention starved crazy, which means he’d lean into it and probably start performing right into Mikami’s belief system in order to reaffirm his godhood.

In a way, it’d be a vicious cycle of starved for affection, their very own lovesick ouroboros: Beyond delivers the punishing wrath Mikami has always hoped for and the fact that it’s being delivered by his own personal God reaffirms to Mikami that he is righteous, that he is special. The more Beyond confirms Mikami’s beliefs, the more Mikami is willing to worship, which in turn confirms to Beyond that he is doing the right thing and therefore should keep doing it, which makes Mikami love him more and so on and so forth.

If Mikami wants him to kill then it’s the right thing to do, if Beyond kills then it’s the right thing for Mikami to want - a never ending cycle. It’s the opposing force to lawlight’s combative friction, a downwards spiral in which the more they do, the more they are encouraged to do.

Anyway! I’m gonna cut myself off here before I get too carried away because once I get really started about them there’s so much lmao

But I will say that my favorite way to ponder their dynamic is as a twisted reflection of lawlight. I fully believe Beyond-wannabe-L-Birthday and Teru-wannabe-Light-Mikami would have thrown out the yearning immediately upon meeting and jumped straight into horribly entertaining codependency. My absolute favorite though? Lawlight investigating the shinigami eyed boyfriends. I mean the fun mirror versions interacting with each other while the twisted relationships unfold? Idk man drives me insane tbh

So yeah! This feels like more than enough for now, even though yes I could probably talk about them forever lmao

It was a beautiful sunny autumn day but the energy of humanity didn’t match

Today, is the day where the people celebrate mourn the death of a rich mobster. Most didn’t know he was one, but he was a well loved man by many, so he was missed by many.

Beomgyu and his wife sat mysteriously in the shadows, the speech at his funeral going in one ear, and immediately coming out the other. They hated that man, but they still attended. Not to pay respects, to make sure he was dead.

Beomgyu tried his best not to smile, ain’t nothing to smile about at a funeral. But he can’t help but feel a sense of joy seeing his enemies dropping like flies

The couple was mysterious and silent the whole funeral service, deciding to save their shit-talking for the repass that took place outside the building.

“Murdered. Just pathetic,” Beomgyu rasped out “died to someone bashing his skull. Just embarrassing.”

“They didn’t even find out what killed him. They believed it was probably a club or something…but they didn’t find any weapon” His wife then spoke

“To be honest I’m focusing less on WHAT killed him, i’m more focused on WHO killed him. Whoever did it was clever, but if it wasn’t you or me then who? He didn’t have any enemies except for us.”

“Who knows….” She then started slurring and dragging her words “…maybe it was his wife that killed him if it wasn’t you or me”

Beomgyu, confused, took off his sunglasses and shifted his eyes towards the widow. The young beautiful woman, mourning the death of her husband, but was secretly smiling knowing that she now owns her late husbands money, and eyeing other men (and women) hoping to not be single for long. She wasn’t hiding it well, well to Beomgyu she wasn’t.

“Hm…what makes you think it’s her?” He then questioned his wife’s accusation

“Why wouldn’t it be? If anyone knows the dirt behind him besides me, it’s her.”

“Oh?” Beomgyu then became intrigued “You never told me any of this before? What more dirt does he have to him? I only know his failure to complete the deal we made and him trying to kill me.”

His wife then pulled him further away from others, and just to be safer she whispered the dirt behind the dead man. All the fraud, all the murder, all the cheating, the corruption. Every crime you could imagine under the belt of the corpse. Beomgyu couldn’t believe what he was hearing, but he wasn’t surprised.

“All that money he has he easily covered his shit up. And why do you think were his only enemies? Because we’re the only ones to still be alive.” His wife then finished her small rant

Going back to the repass, it took everything in Beomgyu to not go back to the funeral home and kick the coffin, or illegally cremate him when no one was looking. He may have been a mob boss, but what his enemy did was more than just being a mobster, he was a man that should’ve be seen for his crimes.

“I heard a few years ago his wife had an affair too. To get him back for him cheating on her.” She brought her up again

“Hm, I wonder if the one she slept with attended. That would be hilarious” He replied holding back his laughter

She then giggled and quickly tugged his sleeve and rasped something shocking to him, something he thought he would never hear, something that nobody else should be hearing.

“Baby, why do you think I know so much?”
