× from cakes ruined at the last minute to entourage arguments at boutiques, being a wedding planner has been such an experience that you're quite literally prepared for anything at this point.. apart from finding out the best man for your new clients' wedding is the guy you had a one-night stand with six weeks ago. you weren't prepared for that. ×

A sweltering day at the height of summer. No cloud to be seen in the sky, it's the middle of the day, and the bag you're carrying may as well have clumps of lead in it.

For the first meeting with new clients, it's always pertinent to you to bring everything you feel is absolutely necessary. Magazines, portfolios, your laptop for research and the star of it all: your planner.

Old thing, it was. You've had it with you since you first started this career and somehow you hadn't filled it to its brim. With each new planning session you wept a shadow of a tear at the thought of needing to replace it, but today is not that day.

When you arrive at the house, you first take note of its exterior, then pull out your phone and whip straight to your emails just to make sure you have got the right address..

One check, brilliant. No need to amble around aimlessly.

Popping your phone back in your pocket, you readjust the stone on your shoulder before trudging up to the front door. A loud huff leaves your lips as you press the doorbell, then shift gears to a polite smile, ready to tackle the first of many meetings.

Within seconds the door opens. A man with blonde hair beams at the sight of you. "Ah! You must be the wedding planner!"

Your teeth gleam to challenge the sun as you extend your right hand, "That would be me! N, it's nice to meet you."

"Hi, N." He takes your hand and shakes it. "I'm Seungcheol." Seungcheol lets go then yells into the house, "Jeonghan! It's N, the wedding planner!"

"Oh! Give me one second," calls another man's voice. Immediately you register the names to make sure you don't forget them.

Seungcheol looks back at you. "Come in!" His smile grows and he steps to the side. You give him an appreciative nod and take one step into the house.

The scent of cooking wafts straight into your airspace and you catch a tiny glimpse of a man scurrying around in the kitchen. Seungcheol moves to stand beside you and says, "Oh! By the way, my best man is here."

This catches you by surprise, though it's not entirely uncommon. You have had clients in the past have their friends and relatives sit with them during meetings.

"Oh?"

"Yeah, he's in the living ro- Oh, there he is."

Seungcheol gestures vaguely past your shoulder and you pivot.

In the doorway to the living room, a man with dark, tousled hair, wearing a simple, casual outfit with a pair of glasses, stands with his shoulder pressed against the frame. At that moment, Jeonghan calls for Seungcheol, and Seungcheol is gone in a flash.

The second you lock eyes, something feels off.

The best man stares at you for an incomprehensible amount of time, to the point you cock a brow and defensively say, "Can I help you?" It's not exactly the best foot forward to make enemies right out the gate, but this man's eyes are a little too fixed on your person for your liking..

When the words leave your lips, he becomes a ghost. He averts his gaze and looks directly at the floor, stuffing his hands in his pockets and gnawing at his lip. "S- Sorry." There's something else he wants to say but just won't.

For some reason, it's bothering you.

But not just that.. he's bothering you.

Not really because he stared at you - though that was rather uncomfortable - no, there's something else.

You look askance and delicately place your bag on the floor. This is now starting to eat away at you and you don't understand where this has come from.

Taking a chance to look at him again, you start trying to place what exactly it is that is so.. bizarre about this meeting.

It's almost as if you've met before.

Before you can fit the puzzle together, the fiancés leave the kitchen; Jeonghan greets you, elated to finally get started with the planning. He notices the man in the doorway and makes a gentle, playful quip about it.

"Oh, I see you've met the best man," he giggles.

"N- Not exactly.." you fumble to say, which in and of itself is incredibly ridiculous.

The best man steps forward and makes himself known. You give him his full attention, and trip at the sight of his outstretched hand.

"Hi. I'm Wonwoo."

His tone is polite, neutral and almost suave. A hint of a smile clips through the corners of his mouth and it's then that it finally clicks.

Two tequila shots. Dancing. A bed. His voice.

When you take his hand, lightning strikes on his face.

"Hi. I'm N."

Familiarity, with a fresh side of what the absolute fuck.

❣️ My Stand-In - I've been liking this a lot and it's probably my favorite bl from this year so far. I was mostly skeptical of the reincarnation trope as I usually don't like that but I like where it's going. The storytelling is excellent, it's comprehensible and sends such good messages, it's subtle, not as in-your-face as other shows, they're not rehashing the same things and every character is believable and well-shaped, down to the smallest side role. The characters are flawed but so well-written that it's just a joy to witness them develop. That being said I wanna give a big shoutout to whoever was in charge of casting because the lineup is really top-tier lol. Every character is on-point thanks to their respective actor; Up is doing so well and also Poom is a very pleasant surprise. I love how expressive he is and him and Up work extremely well as a team imo. Also Mek as Tong is a good choice. Almost forgot what a truly good production looked like lmao. I'm in awe.

Part of the house had burned. The old woman’s daughter had warned Cynthia of that, but Cynthia had imagined some small damage: soot on the wall perhaps, charring by the window where the smoke had been drawn outside. But Cynthia could see the blackened part from the gravel drive as they pulled up.

The house was small and gray. There were two stories, with the lower one looking feeble, like it was not quite up to the task of carrying the upper half on its shoulders. One entire room on the top floor was black and deformed, folding in on itself in swollen, cracked beams. Long, curling tendrils of rot snaked out from the burned room onto the rest of the house, as if the long-ago fire still wanted to spread.

elena pérez grew up with a sense of authority over her life. she had been told from a young age that she could do anything as long as she set her mind to it.

her parents, high school sweethearts from guadalajara, risked everything to move to the united states just before she was born, settling in san francisco.

elena was their pride and joy, the embodiment of all they hoped for, the future they had imagined for themselves. every step she took, every dream she chased, was for them. and from the very beginning, they knew she was meant for greatness.

as a child, elena was quiet ... more comfortable alone than surrounded by classmates she struggled to connect with.

it wasn’t that she was lonely; she simply had no desire to play along with the other children.

sensing her restless energy, her father signed her up for figure skating lessons at a small rink nearby, thinking it would be a place where she could branch out and meet people her age.

however, and from the very first glide, elena's life changed. she was hooked.

nine months later, she caught the attention of a retired olympian turned coach, who saw her potential and knew she was something rare.

they offered to train her personally, sensing the her raw talent, mixed with the spark in her eyes.

with every practice, elena grew stronger and better, transforming into a young woman who understood that greatness was within her reach.

by fifteen, she was setting records, her name on the lips of every commentator, and her routines circulating across social media.

her parents were her biggest supporters, proud beyond measure, always there at the rink or waiting with a bouquet of roses after a competition, telling her that she was their dream come true.

at twenty three, elena reached the pinnacle of her career. she won olympic gold, etching her name into figure skating history with an unforgettable routine.

however, shortly after her triumph, her beloved trainer passed away unexpectedly.

the loss sent elena into a quiet spiral, unraveling her typically composed demeanor. and for the first time, her once unbreakable focus was shaken by grief.

desperate to find her footing, elena made a drastic decision: she moved to manhattan, hoping to reinvigorate her career by training under a renowned coach with a reputation for turning champions around.

recently, elena greed to appear on excesstv’s reality show, hoping it might bolster her exposure during her off period.

her manager had advised her against signing on for excesstv, cautioning that the show might undermine her pristine public image. but the allure of the risk, and perhaps the thrill of doing exactly what she was told not to, caused her to say yes.

she’s on a strict pescatarian diet after a disastrous attempt at veganism. started after she watched a documentary about factory farming and decided she couldn’t eat meat anymore. but her resolve crumbled after two weeks when she was caught eating a blt during a moment of weakness. she compromised by allowing herself to eat fish because, “they don’t have faces you can feel guilty about”

before every major performance, elena has a "pickle sandwich" – thick slices of dill pickles on toasted rye with mustard and a hint of pepper. it started as a quirky snack but soon became her good luck charm.

her training bag is always stocked with lavender scented bags because she insists it helps keep her calm before big competitions. it’s almost become her “signature” scent at the rink.

she’s never had a real relationship … a hook up here and there, sure. but her schedule has kept her so busy she hasn’t had the time.

elena loves her coffee strong and bitter – she’s been known to start her mornings with a triple shot of espresso, calling it her “power potion.”

before bed, she writes detailed lists of what she wants to achieve the next day. from specific jump goals to remembering to stretch.

Solarpunk carries many aspects of punk ideologies such as rebelliousness, humanitarianism, egalitarianism, animal rights, decolonization, anti-racism, anti-sexism, anti-authoritarianism, anti-corporatism, and anti-consumerism. Similar to the cyberpunk genre, the big difference between the two is that in solarpunk technology and nature are in harmony with one another rather than in conflict. Submissions are closed for the rest of 2023. Our 2024 submission window schedule will be published by the end of September. (At the moment, our nonfiction department is current and always open for submissions. If the fiction portal is closed and you submit fiction through the open nonfiction portal, your submission will be rejected.) All submissions to Solarpunk Magazine are done via Moksha. Likes: Above all else, I value style and form, no matter which kind you choose. There needs to be a certain level of polish to the poetry you submit to us. Your ideas may be interesting, revelatory even, but if the quality isn’t there, then I’m afraid it’s not for me. Also, don’t worry about submitting poetry that rhymes, though I do adore that kind of poetry, and it’s always a delight to read a masterful modern one. Tell us about some cool science or technology that’s going to help us rewild the world, remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, or clean up our agricultural act. Weave us the stories of real people who are up to amazing things or of real projects that are underway to help create the world we want to live in. Give us a critical review (of a work, a set of works, or a topic) that rises high enough for a view of the forest as well as the trees. Stake an interesting claim and then convince us that you’re onto something. The possibilities are broad. Interesting is important. Thought-provoking is encouraged. So is keeping it kind. And, again, relevance to solarpunk is key. Some basics: 1- Please don’t send us your solarpunk manifesto or ‘What is Solarpunk’ article. We aren’t interested in publishing those at this time. 2- Non-fiction submissions should be 1000-2000 words long, clearly written, and accessible to general readers. Dungeon Meshi Ep24 (Finale)

there really isn't anything else I could've given it. trigger absolutely killed it the whole way through and thank GOD someone convinced the shitflix execs to make this a weekly release instead of the shitty binge model which would've killed the show dead instantly.

but yeah, I haven't read the manga (yet) but I'd seen tons of spoilers before and even more during the show airing ( 😔 ) and it's an incredible adaptation. a lot of people complain about certain scenes not hitting as hard as in the manga for this reason or another but I feel like most (not all) of those complaints are just nitpicking and trying to give off a sense of superiority cause they read the manga beforehand

anyway, great animation the whole way through, like always above average and with a lot of sakuga sprinkled all throughout. we even got unorthodox animation like that one with the siblings or all the scenes made in the classic trigger style instead of this more "mainstream" look they used for the show everything else is stellar too, I loved the whole seiyuu cast and their performances and the music was great as well

also ryoko kui is an incredible author so it was just a treat to see all the thought that went into the world, dungeon and otherwise, tho I already knew that before the anime was even announced

anyway, TL;DR: incredible adaptation and what everyone should dream of getting for their series. can't WAIT for S2 coming TBA, surprised they announced it already cause they have a panel at AX next month so I figured they'd do it there

Youkai Buster Murakami Ch1

I went into this not expecting much since I read the author's previous work, shugomaru, which while not terrible was also nothing to write home about. I was pleasantly surprised by this tho, I actually liked it a lot more than shugomaru. I was doubtful at first cause "oh boy here comes another exorcist series" until I was told who the author was. as expected it's a comedy series like their previous work. the gimmick is that the main girl is an exorcist and it's her job to seal all these youkais that are being ressurected but she's a huge coward so she brings her, completely normal, friend along to help her and he defeats the youkai by poking holes into it's story like you can see in the pic below I can totally see this being a fun series that I wouldn't mind having stick around for a while if every chap is at least this good. even being a shorter debut of 30 pages it felt like it dragged a bit too long but it should be fine with normal lenght chaps. we'll see how it goes in the coming weeks

Dear Anemone Ch17 (Finale)

man where do I even start with this. first of, I'd thought about giving it a 2 instead of a 1 cause the art is really good but this final chap was so bad it made me change my mind. that spread I picked below is a compilation of stuff that never actually happened in the manga. I guess it was stuff the author had planned but it got axed so yeah. from chap 1 I said the art was good but way too gory for wsj and that stayed true the whole way, it was just way too much for the magazine it was in. impressive that the author managed to keep up the quality in a weekly serialization tho. that's all this manga had tho, the art. everything else was terrible. the story was confused and moving all over the place and the bad ratings made it even worse with the author trying to rush and give reveals and twists constantly which never felt satisfying cause there was no build up to it. the characters didn't felt like characters either and they were just getting pulled along the plot. I went into this not expecting much and still came out disappointed. author is gonna have to put a LOT of effort into their writting if they want do to another serialization or at least they should team up with someone else since again the art was actually really good

Appearance and Personality

Appearance: Vendetta has an average yet feminine body-type figure from a normal point of view, however it appears is that it can be a bit muscular due to training sessions she held whenever she's at the gym or outdoor sparring session. She has long yet very curly vanilla colored hair to which it reaches to the ground at the bottom of her boot heels, which somehow is managing the length of her growing hair without struggling to do and has wine red colored eyes which it can alluring but slightly off-putting to anyone who sees it. Vendetta has a complicated personality but however is self-managed of her limits whenever she interacts with others than her companions.

Personality: Born throughout the wealthy streets of Springfield, later to say one of its undergrounding parts of its country veiled in the set of an elegant garden. Let's just say that her entire family is somehow not worth of mentioning to anyone of who ever speaks regarding to her background, especially towards her father and half-siblings, a sheer soul is never once alive in her grounds. One of the cruelest of all man alive of obedience and loyalty, many were subjected to will without further a do notice, thus that is the clan that many had never interfered with. Mentioning of getting much of a favored towards the royal family something worth mentioning but not much of an interest of choice.

At a young age, well born as one of the few daughters within the family while the rest were only male heirs onto battle of the position of leader. She never learned much of her values aside from eternal worship and wealth, though except what kept there was her mother and twin brother. Though such unfortunate souls in such a predicament, of those endless days and nights were nothing more than silent sessions of the heir's lineage or of someone's son to be worthy of being the father's favorite child. Did she held her humanity locked in afterwards? But no. Of course not. If regarding of her half-siblings more fully her half-brothers and couple of more, they were more of pests than threats... but that's been settled for, in the rest of eternally.

Vendetta's main yet current personality in the present timeline is somehow more matured and well-mannered through the speaking of her own name, not her valued gains of attention. By lady-like by posture, elegant by beauty, it truly shows her defined of colors of she had gained through her many years within her family walls and various connections. Although many who had seen her had been more on falling of what mattered on the outside but is more of attracting to gain of what's only profiting towards her goals. Nothing else on the sidelines that matters to her, except to what she had in the past and present is what she had survived for is enough to make her reasons to live longer than hell itself... that alone is enough for her humanity to be retained for.

Despite upholding elegance within appearance to wherever place that catches her eye of interest, she seems more of a fellow tease with her friend-group. Especially towards her fellow rifitian humans and other fellow races who had been scouted to the school from the other rift countries, which makes it to perk up with her fellow communication skills to test of any riftian she sees, to which she seems to satisfy herself with results. Although she can be a prying one when it comes to certain topics, but can be resulted as a playful-like by gesture in the end of the conversation. Thus resulting to have a playful yet friendly conversation aside from other people around her, though she holds a sister-like role within her group.

If false flattery is such a motto in her name shake, then its a bet to not to dive further of her layers of her well-being, beauty is such a common disease if you're in a battle of a woman that she knows too well than being sly. Vendetta knows how to keep her femininity intact as to be viewed as a fragile woman, which views to keep both personality and appearance in balance to become the ideal yet a target for preys at the same time, however delicate as a feminine wild were known to be terrible existence, then this young woman knows how to ruin one's vitality without going an inch. For her love of entertainment yet her will-keep of surviving, but all of that was kept underneath in a flowerily like appearance that was born through venom.

In her view set, there were only decorations for safekeeping. Her reasons not to be belittled with, unless you want to be one. Then serving it with such grace but be intoxicating to breathe for the more you follow her.

Desires can be fulfilling, although not that it comes with instincts. Underneath shades of what had been dyed for, well it's not like she can do much more than wishing more than what her family had offered for, can it?

-The name 'Vendetta' spelling and all, from Italian, in which it means "revenge." It ultimately traces to the Latin verb vindicta, of the same meaning. While her surname 'Estée' star; hidden. A quirky take on the long-established Estelle, Estee is a French feminine name sure to leave beholders mystified.

-She's based on Roxana Agrece from the manhwa series called 'How to Protect the Heroine’s Older Brother'. Though their actions seems to be similar in the series.

-Has a habit of shopping for the latest trends in Springfield. Flowers, make-up and perfumes seems to be her top-notch collecting.

-To hide her identity of her family name, she works as a model for perfume for local magazines.

-Is particular interested in the other races within the other countries. Meaning to say that she wanted to establish a proper communication with them, especially the half-myths within her homeland.

-Seems to have hidden connections to the SIDC, without her family and father noticing.

-Is fluent in French and Dutch, studied them out of habit.

-Seems to be close with her mother and twin brother, who were the only blood-related family alive within the clan. They were her reason for living but her stained humanity of their family's name.

-Due to her past upbringing, she was born within an underground yet feared family but however as one of the illegitimate children. As one of them, they were either trained under the cruelty of their father in order to survive or become one within their family name. Vendetta then decided to take her twin brother's place to join in the training, resulting her to encounter situations that costed her sanity to remained still but resulted into a surprising outcome turning her for what she is in the present timeline.

-Is close to her surviving half-siblings while the rest were disposed of including their other family members, except for one older sibling who is considered to be the eldest son in her family and is also the potential heir next in line for the heritage in the future. Though it is revealed that Vendetta had a deep grudge against him considering the fact that they were in fact their father's favored children after revealing her valued worth of her power, but later to annoyed the latter deep down.

-Her voice sounds mostly to what fits her personality, however it the tone remains the same whenever her malicious side is shown but is still focus and balanced. Which is why I chose Ito Shizuka to be her voice actor.
