elena nearly bumped into them as she tried to balance her plate of random cheese and cocktail. "oh, sorry—didn't mean to interrupt your ... whatever that is," she hummed, glancing at their drink with a raised brow.

"i’d say you clean up nicely, but that might sound too much like a compliment," she hummed, her gaze lingering a moment too long. "enjoying the night, or are you just here for the free drinks?"

elena stood at the edge of the rooftop, a glass of champagne resting loosely in her hand. though, she didn’t bother to glance his way. "so, are you going to keep pretending i don’t exist, or is this part of your whole mysterious act?" she muttered, rolling her eyes. "because you don't have to stand here."

elena beamed as she spotted her weaving through the crowd, raising her glass in a mock toast. "soph!" she grinned, patting the empty spot next to her. "i was starting to think you had abandoned me."

elena kept her expression deliberately neutral as marcus removed his shirt, though she couldn't help the slight arch of her brow. so he was one of those types, she mused internally, stifling a smile. though, she wasn’t entirely surprised. taking a moment to stretch her arms overhead, she finally let her posture relax, subtly shaking off the stiffness from her pose. "not always," she responded, her voice casual, even as her gaze followed him with. "i try to come here early to avoid the crowd. but…" she glanced at him, raising her eyebrows, "clearly, it’s not foolproof." her tone was cool, edged with a dry amusement, not willing to completely drop her guard just yet. she tilted her head, studying him with an air of casual assessment. "you know ... you don't strike me as the yoga type," she commented, still trying to assess why exactly he had decided to keep her company. "more of the… lifting and posturing variety, if i had to guess."
Marcus found himself smirking slightly at her as he looked into her eyes. He watched her closely for some time before he removed his shirt and threw it off to the side. His chiseled muscular body shone for her in full display. He worked out on a regular basis or as much as he could and it showed in his body as he looked into her eyes for a moment or two. He nodded his head at her for a moment happy to finally get to know her name. "Pleasure to meet you Elena. " He responded to her softly. He noted the way his name sounded in her voice and he couldn't help but smirk softly at her for a moment. He softly and gently nodded his head at her for a moment before biting his lower lip as he looked into her eyes. "That is true I suppose. " He responded to her knowing full well what she meant and the truth was she was right about it to some degree. He made his way towards an empty spot and started warming up. He had gotten the tone in her voice which she had left unsaid as he had a smirk on his face. "Do you always come here for yoga ?" He asked her.

she let out a low, mocking laugh, crossing her arms over her chest with exaggerated indifference. "right, because you’re just so irresistible, i forgot" she drawled, her voice thick with sarcasm as she gave him a slow, withering once over. truthfully, she’d been over their unfortunate first meeting, almost as soon as it happened. but every encounter since only added to her irritation, like he was determined to prove he was exactly the crude annoyance she’d initially taken him for. "newsflash: just because someone looks your way once or twice doesn’t mean they’re obsessed with you. though i’m sure that delusion of yours keeps you warm at night." it bothered her, how he got under her skin, and she hated that he knew it. "and, for the record," she added, feigning a casual tone, "i am not boring ... i have plenty of things to think about other than you."
he's quick to fall back onto childish antics, the annoyance an unfamiliar feeling that pokes at him incessantly, somehow saved only for when he's in the presence of the brunette. taesung isn't amused by her denial, shooting her a feigned look of pity. "don't be embarrassed, you wouldn't be the first." his words are full of ego, unbearably so as he flashes his teeth for a toothy grin. "sounds like it happens a lot. not really interested, but that's cute." he ignores the obvious that had started the grievances they had against each other in the first place. how the very obvious had once been blatantly opposite. "of course, i'm always right," he mumbles under his breath, just before sensing his eyes roll into the back of his skull. "sure, your perfect little image and all. i won't ask if it gets boring, i already know the answer. it can be our little secret that you just can't stop thinking about me."

there was not a day in her adult life that elena had gone without coffee. after a long morning that had stretched her patience thin, the cafe had called to her with the idea of a quiet escape from the day's demands, and the promise of caffeine. she’d spotted annabelle tucked away in a corner and, on impulse, decided to join her. it wasn’t often she got to catch the brunette outside of their usual circles, and the quiet company seemed like just the thing she needed. "hey yourself," she greeted, her eyes flicking briefly to the closed sketchbook. "didn’t mean to interrupt. figured i’d join you, this table totally beats sitting alone over by the counter, staring at the barista who’s probably had enough of me." elena let out a small chuckle, softening her presence, hoping to ease the unspoken tension. without waiting for permission, she reached over and broke off a piece of the muffin, popping it into her mouth with an easy smile. "so," she said, brushing a crumb from her fingers, "what masterpiece did i interrupt? or am i never going to get a glimpse?"
open starter ( 0 / 4 ) location : cocoa & cream.
she's holed up at a corner table, belongings propped neatly in the chair beside her with her sketchbook laid flat before her. a french vanilla latte and chocolate chip muffin sit beside annabelle, ignored for now as graphite stained fingers sketch lines across the paper. the lines of a brow, the curve of a jaw; a familiar yet unknown figure drawn to life on the page.
she's mindlessly reaching for her drink when the chair scoots out across from her, and on impulse she snaps the tattered book shut as she sits at attention. "oh, hi." she splutters out, forced smile curving across her lips.

elena chuckled softly as she grabbed a towel, wiping the light sheen of sweat from her face. "delusion? please," she scoffed, rolling her eyes in good humor. "maybe if you practiced with me once in a while, you'd see real form." she raised an eyebrow, meeting sophia's gaze in the mirror with a smirk. she let out an exaggerated sigh when sophia mentioned shopping, already pretending to dread it. she leaned against the wall, shaking her head with a smirk. "let’s just be clear," she added, lifting a finger. "i’m not carrying all those bags when you go overboard, okay? this will be a shopping trip, not a workout session for me," she said with a laugh. "and .." she started, debating her final condition, as if she hadn't already made up her mind, "you're buying my coffee."
"delusion never helped anyone," sophia states, nonchalantly waving a freshly manicured hand, because a smile curves up her lips, mirth coloring her eyes. though she can admit to herself that elena's form has gotten better compared to last time they did yoga together. "well, when it comes naturally... of course it's a foreign concept to me. you wouldn't get it." she matches her grin, happy to see her friend. they were different in a lot of ways, but elena knew how to hold her own, and she could both dish it out and take it, which she respected. "same here. the idea of tossing and turning in bed wasn't so fun," she adds as she bends down to stretch her legs. "hey, you have any plans after this, wanna go grab a coffee? i'm in the mood for a new bag, too, and i need a second opinion."

elena held her pose, allowing herself only the faintest glance in his direction, eyebrows raised in a way that made her slight annoyance clear. "elena," she hummed, introducing herself, though her eyes glinted with a mix of curiosity. "listen, marcus, right?" she sighed, drawing out his name. she took her time sizing him up, her gaze both dismissive and challenging, as if daring him to hold his ground. "i appreciate the honesty, really. points for that. but that doesn’t make it any less… well, creepy." her eyes narrowed slightly. elena knew she had no real authority to make him leave, but she was determined to make him work for it. "but, if you’re actually here to work out, then do your thing. otherwise …" she trailed off, leaving the implication hanging in the air.
Marcus decided to make his way to the gym early in the morning. He had decided to get some workout done early. He always enjoyed heading to the gym and working out. It helped him stay in shape and fit which was what he wanted more than anything. What he hadn't expected was to find someone else there so early in the morning. He didn't say anything to her as he stood there by the door as he looked around the place for some time. His eyes followed her frame as he watched her and rather admired her. It was clear that she was going through the motions of yoga. It was intriguing as he had said to himself in silence. It hadn't been long before she finally spotted him and he heard her words. A faint smile spread across his lips as he looked into her eyes before finally responding to her. "I wasn't going to say I enjoy creeping around. The truth of the matter is I came here to work out and then I spotted you. I was surprised to see someone else here so early in the morning. And I couldn't take my eyes off watching you. " He said as he entered further into the gym. "I am Marcus by the way. " He responded to her gently.

elena narrowed her eyes, barely masking her irritation as she folded her arms and shot him a mocking smile. it figured that even at the crack of dawn, with half the world still asleep, taesung would somehow find a way to ruin her morning. intense gaze and all. "obsessed with you?" she scoffed, letting out a dry, humorless laugh as she shook her head. "please, don’t flatter yourself, if i’m thinking about you, it’s probably just to remind myself how much better my life would be if you weren’t constantly … around." she paused, tilting her head as if pondering something. "but you know, you’re right, i shouldn't publicize it," she continued, feigning a thoughtful tone. "wouldn’t want people thinking i care enough to follow through."
sure, maybe he did give her backside a little glance just before she turned around, but he's just a guy, really. in fact, taesung is already preferring when she was turned around and not shooting him some patronizing look. "what? wish i would've said downward dog instead?' he smirks annoyingly, the corners of his mouth tight and forced upright. "oh, nice burn." the sarcasm rolls off of his tongue in the same instance as his eyes roll, effectively annoyed that not only was elena hogging precious gym time when everyone knew you could do yoga anywhere, but now she's being rude about it. "how tacky. it's flattering to know you're still obsessed with me. but if you decide to own a gym some day, i probably wouldn't publicize that for everyone to know about."

elena rolled her eyes but couldn’t help a smirk as she straightened up, crossing her arms with a mock look of offense. "and here I was, thinking maybe you missed me," she sighed dramatically, lifting a hand to wipe away an imaginary tear. "all those years of friendship, and yet not a single early morning visit to shower me with compliments? honestly, syd, i’m heartbroken." she shot sydney a quick, teasing glance, her usual reserved demeanor softening.
" oh, spare me, lane !" sydney hadn't meant to wake up so early, though she had to admit she could appreciate the ambiance at the avalon in the early hours. sleep was no longer an option and so, the next best thing for her to do was to head to the gym and get an early start on her day. she figured it would be empty but really, knowing elena as long as she has, she should've expected her there. "if i'm ever willingly up at this hour, it is definitely not to come watch you flail around at the gym."

elena took another leisurely sip, her smirk widening as she met mook’s disapproving gaze. "you could always look the other way," she suggested dryly. they did this far too often. unnecessary bickering, the whole nine yards. "you know, spare yourself the heartache.” she shrugged, feigning innocence as she savored the coffee. it was impossible to miss mook’s irritation, it practically simmered in the air between them. "it's not like i'm going to die or something."
mook grimaces as elena adds another shot of espresso to her drink, as if she'd witnessed another millennial in athleisure. comfort should never take precedence for it showed a lack of care. she feels the same applied to elena and her caffeine. "i'm commenting because it's seven in the morning." but that wasn't the real reason for her judgement. something about selena fueled her with the ugliest envy, towards all of her achievements and talents. it makes her pedantic and critical. "that much coffee will damage your stomach. but whatever. you're only ruining your own body."

elena's mouth curled into a faint smile as she shifted out of her pose, giving savannah a nod. she took a breath, looking around the empty, softly lit space of the avalon's workout area. as much as she wanted to, she really couldn't complain, savannah was the first person she'd seen in the past two hours. "touché," she hummed, her earlier annoyance melting away. "i can't believe you're doing cardio right now, i don’t think I could ever get myself to run this early in the morning."
“ does that mean your creepin' around? 'cause you're up just as early as i am, ” savannah remarks, pointed look flashing in the other's direction as she pops a single earbud into her ear — bag dropping to rest on one of the available seats. “ but if you must know, i'm gettin' my mornin' cardio in. it's a lot easier to focus when there's not a dozen people hangin' around the same area. which means we both must've had the same idea, ” then her eyes finally take in the other's position, “ good form, by the way. ”

elena gasped, pulling back slightly but unable to hide the laugh that escaped. "i am not uptight!" she protested, her voice a mix of amusement and distress as she shrugged his arm off her shoulder. maybe just a little. narrowing her eyes, she took a step back, folding her arms across her chest. "just because i don’t spill my guts on demand doesn’t mean i’m uptight, thank you very much." the brunette scoffed, her gaze flickering toward the camera, suddenly aware of its presence again, before shifting back to him, a glint of challenge in her eyes. "i'm an open book, ask me anything."
this time, he looks at the cameraman and points an accusatory finger at him. "so you lied!" perhaps, if loren had thought things through, he would've realised they shared a secret once upon a time and teetering near that territory wasn't the best of ideas. "just one! it can be a small one." an arm goes round her shoulders then, bringing them to face the camera once again as he teases, "i just want the people of this good nation to know that you're not as scary or uptight as you seem."
