Centipede Tango Tek - CTT Au Master post

This is my master post about my Tango Tek is a Centipede AU/Headcanon, but now with more coherent thoughts of what I want.

TW WARNINGS: Zombies, Insects, Body horror, Gore, Low self esteem and mental health problems. (If you think I should add another tag pls let me know, this is my silly au I don't want to cause distress to no one.)

Note: As I am writing some things may change, so I will update this note with the date I last changed something here. (08/08/2023)

I swear it's not that bad, but messing with zombie characters gets messy very fast.

In this AU main plot I have:

-Tango is a parasitic modded mob that should not be a player but is.

-He specifically is a Centipede that lives in dead corpses and is basically like a zombie with guts that attack if the main body is damaged/destroyed. 

-Here is a link for a text book description I made of his species.(Somethings I wrote there are not up to date with my current headcanon.)

-Tango being a sentient being and a player, he mostly functions like a zombie hybrid player ex.Cleo and Zloy

- He has two bodies : His decoy body (The corpse of a permadead player he rides) and his real body (His centipede one)

-His two bodies are code linked. Let me explain: Tango Tek code will only show right when he is “complete”, when he is separated his close name tag glitches and Tango appears afk in an admin screen. He will only respawn if his real body is damaged and as his decoy body is a literal corpse, it will only repair itself when the damage taken caused a respawn death. Any other type of damage taken in his decoy body he has to repair it Himself (this type of damage and repair, applies to most undead players, Cleo is one of them.). If Tango is killed without his decoy body, the decoy body will not respawn with him, he has to go fetch it.

- Just to be clear, Tango didn’t just found a random corpse and started riding it, His decoy body is with him since he first “spawned”, He woke with all the information that a fresh new player needs to knows, but instead of the corpse receiving it, what got it was the vermin inhabiting it.

-One thing that makes him stay awake at night is the fact that, he already had a years long register from before he spawned, he had money, he had a Hypixel account and he had a name: Tango. He added the Tek latter, because of a dear friend of his, that is until now the only important OC I dared to put in this AU.

-Tango Spawned in an residential world where being a hostile mob hybrid wasn't looked upon with good eyes, so since early he learned to use makeup and clothes to pass as a mostly human player.

-He spend weeks of his early days training his fine motor coordination, so he can pass as a clumsy human and not a decaying corpse being controlled by a insect (It's like playing cuphead with your keyboard slightly upside down) 

-He spend years isolated in single player worlds, because of the fear of what he is and what would be done to him in the case that other people discover.

-His eyes are red, because his decoy body doesn't have its eyes anymore, so he just uses his own real body to cover it. When someone asks why his eyes are weird red swirls, he just says he was cursed by the "universe".

-This "he is a bug, that rides a dead body and is basically a zombie, but he is disguized as a human" thing, may have started as a form of defense to not suffer from the discrimination that aggressive mob hybrids suffered in that era, but with time it turned in a type of self hate. Even when compared with other zombies and undead hybrids, he can see he is not the same and this really bugged him. He can only say that his red eyes (that are a literal part of his real body) are a curse of the universe too many times, until he started to believe it himself.

-So his disguise turned more permanent than it should. It's been some decades and no one really knows the truth, the only one that really knows is himself "Human" if asked Tango Tek.

-As I said it started as a means of protection, but even when the wheels turned and the ones that were the real problem now are a minority, Tango still is hiding. He knows he is an anomaly, that he should not be capable of thinking of feeling! Someway in his path he started to think of himself as a monster, as an unlovable being and even when he entered Hermitcraft, a place where everyone is accepted, he continued to hide. 

-Now more than his self hate, he has fear: fear of being lonely again, of his family (his only family) hating him for what he is (he hates what he is, he wish he could be normal).

-Tbh he should see a therapist, the really angst part of this AU is Tango's poor mental health state, he is so blinded with his own fallacy, that he is a wrong unlovable monster, to notice that his friends and family never would trade him for anything else.

-This type of self hate is something that builds slowly, but Tango has decades of auto inflicted isolation to construct this narrative. Believe me, Isolation does things to a person's mental state.

Some little curiosities:

-Tango is a make-up guru as a moving plot point, he uses makeup to cover his undeadnes.

-Since he entered Hermitcraft his makeups started to become more and more detailed, he had a few hiccups in the path and Impulse has a lot of blackmail from his failed attempts.

-Because of his "is a bug riding a dead body" thing, he doesn't have a very fine motor skill, so he can't really do things like sewing or anything that requires a good working set of fingers. (His makeup is mostly a exception because he had years to really refine his ability to paint his own face)

-He does his red stone using mostly his real body, he puts the rough components in place with his decoy body and then uses his real body to do the finer connection and setup of the machines. 

-This means that when he does redstone his decoy body just lay where Tango put it before he goes to “redstone world” (anyone who finds it would think that Tango has permadied), he escaped a lot of close calls since entering hermitcraft.

-Fun fact, because he is a anomaly in the code his decoy body and real body are counted as one in his code, and because his decoy body was originally of a human player that permadied, his code when superficially looked just says that he is a human (it makes easier to lie to admins)

-Because of his "bugged" code, he can only access his inventory while riding his decoy body, so it can be tricky if Tango is separated from it.

-Tango can talk as a bug, It's harder without proper vocal cords and has a clicking intonation to it, but he can speak. It comes from nothing and he really doesn't wants to talk how it works.

-As I said previously, Tango is the name of the permadied corpse, the Tek is something that he put after. (Tek is the onomatopoeia of the clicking sound he does when happy. It is too a type of “happy greeting” between bug players)

-Tango has proper formal admin training, he has gone to Admin school and has a degree.

List of fics I am planning to do or I did already in this universe:

-Tango needs Cleo's help with undead things and its forces him to reveal more than he has revealed in a long time: Everyone always forget that corpses have a lot of things to say. (One shot)

-Someone finds Tango's body when he is redstoning things and now everyone knows: Tango’s Castle of Cards.(4/5 chapters still incomplete I am working in it I swear)

-Scar backstory

-Cleo and Tango go shoping in the Zombie market.

-Tango and Zed discover a thing

-Tango and Vintage beef bug friendship.

-Tango and Hypnotized visit a graveyard.

[oddly-specific-hermit-headcanons]

hermitcraft is a friend group with no leadership. BUT they protect that server like it's their baby. so. a list of particularly stand out protectors according to my hc's

technical side: xisuma (obvious. the man is always on that admin panel working)

tango (doesn't particularly Protect the world itself, like the seed and chunks, but is the technician magician for any problems some hermits might have, uploading data and disc's. has an access to the admin panel)

doc (has the access to the admin panel. protects the server from himself and the dangerous contraptions (if sh1t hits the fan he's right there) based on real facts btw. he has op on and off (and had since at least s9) when he's about to test smth laggy)

cub and joe (secondary admins who can step in if smth goes wrong)

magical protectors:

grian (will not hesitate to use his powers and look all over the server is he senses danger)

keralis (built up a protective magical layer over the chunks they live in (he can do the whole server but xisumas pruning of the chunks messes with it)

honorable mentions: cub and scar's deal with the vex has set hermitcraft a status of "don't mess with em". vex and illagers magic still works ofc, it's not what they're protecting them from

not really a threat but just in case every season that starts xb claims their server as His Monument to protect (he's an elder guardian hybrid and can do that) (although, once again, a very unlikely chance that this status will be used. little but not zero)

and any hermit, if they have real powers or just the strength of their fists, will protect it no matter what too.

Day 165: messing around with his hair a bit

Tango did a lot of research on avian culture and mating rituals (it was a very uncomfortable conversation for Grian), so he knew the significance of gifting of feathers. He came to the conclusion that it was like marriage. He also knew how important the feather was to the avian.

being the blaze hybrid that he is, Tango was terrified when Jimmy gave him a feather. Jimmy had to reassure him many times that he wanted Tango to have the feather in the first place and then reassure Tango that it would be okay if something happened and he had to give another feather. Tango was scared that he'd accidentally burn it or lose it or destroy it somehow but Jimmy just kept telling him that he'd give him another if something happened.

The first time he lost Jimmy's feather, He fell in lava, which didn't hurt him but turned the feather into ashes. Tango got home, nearly in tears that he'd accidentally destroyed Jimmy's feather but Jimmy assured him that it was okay and just gave Tango another feather and a special piece to turn it into an ear ring so it wouldn't disintegrate in shallow lava.

Mumbo is a vampire who’s somehow managed to keep this a secret from nearly everybody because they assume he’s just Like That. He drinks fire resistance potions every morning? He’s a Brit, he’ll get a mean sunburn if he doesn’t! Caught drinking blood? He’s just nibbling on some redstone dust again, wouldn’t be the first time (it isn’t. They constantly catch him drinking blood and they ALL assume he’s eating redstone. He does eat redstone, but that’s just because he’s Mumbo. Xisuma, as we know, is the first to make this mistake.) I’m sure there’s more but I can’t think rn

Mumbo thinks they know, he doesn't try to hide it. He drinks blood, it should be clear.

He's even turned into a bat in front of Tango before. but Tango thought he died to a Stalagmite and a Bat just happened to be there.

Talking about his red eyes and saying it was because of working with redstone so long, it seeps in

Taking this joke comment and running with it for my headcanon based off the fact redstone is radioactive in education edition that all the redstoners have some kind of red tainting one or more of their eyes

Tango’s eyes turned red over the years, doc’s mechanical eye was damaged by redstone, etho was injured in some kind of redstone incident hence his scar and red eye, zedaph used to have blue eyes but they turned purple bc of redstone exposure, and impulse… I haven’t figured out yet

I see you do headcanons so I'll give you about a million ranchers head canons bc they've taken over my brain.

-they take turns taking care of the animals and fields. Like one will take care of the animals while the other takes care of the fields and then they alternate days.

-they both live to cuddle so especially on cold days, they live to cuddle under a nice fluffy blanket while Tango keeps them warm and Jimmy wraps his wings around them to keep the warmth in.

-Tango likes spicy food bc the spice doesn't really bother him while Jimmy can't stand spicy food so they'll sometimes have different dinners. Also sometimes if Tango has something super spicy, Jimmy won't let him kiss him for a few hours bc his mouth will be spicy.

- Tango is mildly allergic to water so it'll just make his skin kinda itchy and uncomfortable so if they're outside and it suddenly starts raining, Jimmy will shield Tango with his wing.

- Jimmy gets free "Dungeon Lackey" things in decked out bc Tango just wants to play his game with his bf

- Jimmy regularly uses Tango as a stove.

-in addition, if Tango gets too angry, Jimmy will just take a frying pan and an egg and put it on Tango's head and it'll immediately confuse Tango and get him out of his anger

I made a text for my Tango is a Centípede Au, explaining his species like if it was a scientific notebook

TW: Insects, gore(flesh, bones, etc.), body horror and corpses.

What is Tango Tek? Well he is a player, but he is a bug too. Not a bug like a glitch on the code thing, but a literal insect, specifically he is a type of Centipede. 

The scientific name of his species in official reports from the "Official registry of modded mobs" or "ORMM" is Rubrumequitarecadaver, that is a subspecies of the Falsusproculspimae especies. 

The popular name that players call this type of mob is the False Spine Parasite.

The Falsusproculspimae in his juvenile form looks similar to a normal Scolopendra viridicornis with its only differentiation being its white color palette and porous chitin that makes it unnervingly similar to a human bone.

The Rubrumequitarecadaver is slightly different, it has a red color palette similar to blood, having its chitin softer than its counterpart, feeling almost flesh-like. 

Either of them are described as disturbing for most players to see, having an uncanny similarity with the mangled parts of a body.

For this Insect to grow to its mature form, it needs to find a corpse, when found it will eat all internal organs with exception of the nervous system, them in a span of hours it will grow to a length that can get to 7 or more meters, making it too long to survive in the wild by itself, but with the perfect length to wrap itself in the nervous system where it will use his neurotoxin to stabilize the internal rotten and get control of the motor functions of the body, from there it will act like a normal zombie mob, with the differential that when its host is destroyed the insect will attack the responsible for it.

Juveniles of this species are mostly inoffensive to normal players, only zombie hybrids or players rotten-like have to let their eyes open because they can be targeted by one of these unnerving creatures as their new host.

A lot of the Hermits like to chew on things. Most of them are hybrids, and like to teethe on things instinctively. Perhaps the human Hermits adopted this trait as well.

Zed likes to grind on wheat and grass while he builds contraptions. He says it helps him focus.

Pearl sometimes chews on her clothing, or other Hermit’s clothing. She says it’s a nervous habit.

Ren likes chewing on other Hermit’s boots. Just for the shenanigan purposes, according to him.

Mumbo does the same thing as Pearl, but more specifically he chews on his tie.

Beef will chew on small pieces of leather at times. He describes it as a relaxing action.

Tango will gnaw on the bottom part of a redstone torch while he works on a new contraption. He says he does it subconsciously.

Doc crunches on rocks occasionally. He says it’s satisfying to him.

Gem will chew on plastic while she builds, like plastic forks. She says it’s a calming mechanism.

Cub will bite into gunpowder. He says he likes the risk that it might explode at any time. He has yet to blow up from this mannerism.

Etho has adopted the same habit as Tango, expect he chews on the end of a soul torch instead of a redstone torch.

Tango never really called Jimmy his soulmate, so I like to headcanon that he doesn’t really believe in soulmates. Plus, he knows the bond is artificial, just a gimmick, so he doesn’t call Jimmy his soulmate because the words aren’t real to him. Maybe it was fate that they had found each other, but it’s not the soulbond that was forced upon them. (His weird wording after they respawned insinuating they were bound only after death). Tango also feels that their relationship isn’t tied down to just being “paired together,” so he uses words and nicknames that mean more to them and encapsulate their relationship.

However, Jimmy is the opposite and loves to call Tango his soulmate. He loves the idea that he is fated to be with someone as amazing, caring, and compassionate as Tango. After some rough and toxic relationships, he’s actually deserving of something great. (Tango would hate to hear him say that). Calling Tango his “soulmate” is his way of saying we are destined to be together, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. But Jimmy is also very respectful and understanding that Tango views the name differently and doesn’t mind that he never uses it. Likewise, Tango knows how much it means to Jimmy and doesn’t mind the avian’s usage of it.

I actually have plans to make this into a one-shot, but I never got around to it

They've developed eachothers mannerisms and way of speaking a bit because they hang around eachothers friends and eachother too much.

Tango has started saying certain things in an English kind of way and sometimes says things with a bit of an accent. He called sweaters jumpers and says 'banana' and 'h' with an accent. This is because Jimmy basically only has English friends or friends with accents (Joel, Grian, Lizzie, Scott) so it's not very often that Tango hears the American version of words. He also can't escape it when hanging out with his own friend group because of Zedaph.

Similarly, Jimmy sometimes says the American version of words or if he can't think of something right away, he will tangoificate a word or call something a skadoodler if he can't think of it right away. His friends laugh at him every time he does this because it means they've been spending too much time together to the point that "it's changed their brain chemistry" as Grian would say.

What if everytime someone was killed by their snail they came back looking slightly more attractive than before, and no one could figure out why, until Tango picked up Skizz's snail at some point to throw it at him and he accidentally got a bunch of the slime all over his hands, and came to the realization that he had just discovered the best skin care product in all of minecraft.

After Grian had put so much meticulous thought into making this wildcard, he probably didn't anticipate for more than a third of the server to go around rubbing mucus from other people's snails all over themselves.

The hybrids and players from the Nether, End, or Aether don’t really get Overworld Customs and Holidays.

Those dimensions are static in their climate, so any seasonal markings weren’t commonplace. Let’s just say, on their first time on the server, a good portion of the server was really alarmed by the world cooling down, freezing, and dying, while everyone was putting up bright colourful lights as all the plant life dies. Even today, they aren’t used to it.

In dimensions without seasons, celebrations tend to revolve around personal or community milestones; the Nether and End don't even really have day and night, making measuring time difficult. All the more reason to have patterns to one's life that *can* be measured... but a little startling when familiar patterns get disrupted by, say, leaves dying and falling off of trees! It's especially disconcerting to hybrid players who have lived in the Nether most of their lives, as they're used to constant warmth (and "plants" that mostly don't have bits that can fall off of them).

Netherborn habits are part of why Tango built Decked Out 2. Despite having lived with the hermits for a while, he still has a hard time seeing the appeal of winter; building a frosty fortress was his way of exploring the good things about cold and snow, and finding his own things to celebrate and count within it - marking time by number of dungeon runs; celebrating wins and discoveries; introducing new challenges and milestones. All things that someone from a relatively timeless dimension would typically single out to make a day for!

On the other end of the scale, Jevin is an Overworld player through and through. In the presence of many species, from many places, he kicks up his own holiday celebrations a notch or two, to make sure everyone knows what the winter holidays are about, and knows they're welcome to be involved.
