Panel one: The dominos continue to fall and time flows on as the Tribunal hunts for an elite never meant to leave,

Panel two: An angry soul searches for power,

Panel three: a daughter seeks revenge for all she has lost,

Panel four: and a family of misfits unaware of their falling tower. I’ll leave you here but like no worries!

Panel five: This isn’t the end… since there was no beginning.

Summary: Tang Shen was a student of the Tribunal who went out on a mission where she meet Yoshi and Saki. The trio befriended eachother and Shen fell in love with the freedom and little joys of life. She flees the Tribunal and told Yoshi and Saki about it. This begins Saki’s obsession with it. Shen obvi doesn’t spill the beans Bc she can see what Saki wants and what path that’ll lead him down.

Shen marries Yoshi and they have a baby named Miwa. Life is going well, until the Tribunal finds Shen. She flees with Miwa thinking Yoshi died at the hands of the ninja that are on her tail. Meanwhile, Yoshi comes home to see nothing but flames and ruin. He’s heartbroken and moves to America for a new life too grief stricken to remain amongst the reminders of their old life. They always had plans to see the world. Saki is left with no leads to the Tribunal, but that will not stop him.

Shen and Miwa are now on the run from the Tribunal. Yoshi dies after encountering one of Kraang’s bots in the same instant Splinter gets mutated along with some unsuspecting turtles. Saki discovers a helmet rumored to hold great power, hunts it down and ignores the warnings.

All their paths cross within the city that never sleeps…

2012: Splinter's family

I wanted to Make a lil family tree post for 2012. This is just to toss them all into one post now that they've all been shared!! (shreds was the last to be posted) If you'd like more on Splints and his kids, I have a post about that here!

Shredder and splinter, bio brothers in this au, and also Tang Shen to start us off!! Also known as Shredderstar (formerly Poppystrike), Magnoliaclaw, and Spiritpool.

Karai, Mikey, and Donnie! Better known as Viperpaw, Frecklepaw, and Tallpaw! All three of them are a decent mix of their parents' colors

AND FINALLY!! Raph and Leo. Pricklepaw and Bravepaw. The two most like copies of their parents.

Leo's a bit lighter than his mom, and slightly more saturated. It'll be more obvious when I actually draw him, but he's also has a bit broader of a build, like splinter

similar color, similar markings, could almost be twins! Raph has green eyes though, and less white spotting, and is much smaller than his dad was at his age.

tmnt 2012 angst incoming bc i just thought of this and i'm hurt and emotional so i have to share it

au where tang shen doesn't die, and instead gets taken somewhere and is somehow mutated.

in this au, splinter doesn't die, and karai does get mutated, but goes to live with the turtles. there's a little bit of tension just because of karai's past, but splinter is so happy to have his daughter back that there's a truce between the boys and karai, because even though they're unsure, they're still kind of excited to have a sister.

BUT THEN

a kraang convoy is hijacked by the boys + april + casey + karai and they find a mutated tang shen, who ofc immediately knows who karai is and there's suddenly so much crying, and tang shen goes with them to the lair, and splinter suddenly realizes that he has his wife and daughter back and there's lots of emotions and hugging

and slowly the boys see a side of splinter they've never seen, he's smiling and laughing so much more, he's teasing and joking around.

and idk, because i love raph angst, raph sees the difference, sees how happy splinter is, and he just... stops. stops trying, stops spending time in the lair around everyone, spends more time with casey or at xever and bradford's place, and there's definitely a big blowout fight because of ✨miscommunication✨ and ✨angst✨ where raph says something along the lines of splinter only needing the boys to fill the space left by tang shen and karai's deaths, but now that he's got them back, he doesn't need them anymore.

and there's just a moment of silence as raph's words sink in before he's leaving the lair, and the rest of his brothers follow him because they've realized it too, but they didn't want to say anything.

Hamato Saki AU

When he learnt of his true origin, Oroku Hamato Saki sided with his adoptive family. Unlike his canon counterpart, he never tried to date Tang Shen, never set the fire, never killed her, and never stole Miwa.

Instead, he moved to New York along with them. He witnessed the mutations of his brother and the four turtles. However, the members of the Foot Clan in the canon world still know Saki. None of them are villains and instead help the turtles when facing other threats such as the Kraang and random mutants.

Characters:

Hamato Yoshi and the turtles: Their part is short because they're basically the same. Only difference is there's no Foot Clan to fight and Miwa and Shen are with them.

Tang Shen: Not dead. She's always been with Miwa and the turtles. A+++++ parenting. She's been trained in a little ninjutsu, just enough to defend herself but no where near the level of Yoshi, Saki, and the kids. Great friends with Kirby O'Neil too.

Hamato Saki: A lot, lot, lot, LOT more tame than Oroku Saki, but still has major anger issues. He’s Miwa and the turtles’ uncle and father figure to what would be the Foot Clan mutants. Never ends up mutated, never kills Splinter.

Hamato Miwa: Splinter’s daughter, the turtles’ older sister, Saki’s niece. She never ends up mutated, but is still dating Shinigami (and obviously never has that romance with Leo bc wtf)

Chris Bradford: Saki ran a dojo in New York for a few years where he met Chris Bradford. Since then, he’s trained as Saki’s protege. He does end up as a mutant in the Gauntlet episode and is double-mutated too, but the second time is caused by a fight with the Kraang.

Xever Montes: The Hamatos + Chris went on a trip to Brazil for *insert really good reason*. There, Miwa met a young Xever. Chris brought Xever back to New York with him, and he's been there ever since. And later on, yeah he gets mutated. Donnie builds his legs and breathing thing instead of Baxter.

Baxter Stockman: A criminal (sad guy with robots) who gets rehabilitated by the Hamatos. he works with them for a while, but betrays them in Baxter's Gambit in hopes of using his StockmanxTurtle Tech to rule the world, he doesn't and gets rehabilitated again, this time for good. He doesn't get mutated (he's honestly sad enough).

Tiger Claw: Knew Saki in Japan. After the Gauntlet, Saki calls TC to help out the Hamatos and is now one of their allies. However, that past with Alopex and the Kraang is hidden for ages.

Anton Zeck and Ivan Steranko: Ivan is an old friend of Saki's. After the Kraang invasion of s2 he joins the Hamatos with his boyfriend, Anton. Ivan's still an arms dealer but is very particular about who he sells to. Anton is not a thief, he's a DJ. They get mutated by the Kraang instead of Saki.

Omg Tang Shen surviving au? The first au I've heard of where the boys have a mom??? I gotta know what their dynamics are with her. Was Karai still taken? Why did they move to New York? Is Shredder still as pissed at Splinter? Does Tang Shen have a mutated name like Splinter does?

Ok so the idea isn’t complete yet but I might write a fic for it (I’m also going to say that I don’t have a good relationship with my mom so I don’t exactly know what a good mother looks like)

Tang Shen left Miwa outside when the fight between Yoshi and Saki started, thinking that she would be okay for a minute while she made sure they didn’t kill each other. Tang Shen takes the hit for Yoshi, and Saki, thinking he killed Shen, sets the house on fire and runs, hoping that Yoshi will die in the fire. He finds Miwa outside and takes her, just like in canon.

However, the hit doesn’t kill Tang Shen, just knocks her out. Yoshi and Shen survive the fire, (time traveling turtles doing) but when they wake up, Miwa is gone. They think that Saki killed Miwa as part of his revenge, and flee to New York, thinking that Saki will come after them again.

Once they’re in New York, trying to cheer Shen up, Yoshi takes her to the pet store and they buy four turtles. Shen and Yoshi are mutated into rats and they flee to the sewers with the turtles. Shen bonds with them immediately (thinking of Miwa) and they decide to keep the turtles and raise them. Shen, who originally wanted Yoshi to leave the clan, agrees that they should teach the turtles ninjitsu in case Saki (now Shredder) comes for them.

They tell their children not to leave the sewers, same as in canon. They are finally allowed to go to the surface at 15 (though they have definitely snuck up before), and they learn about the Kraang and save April. (I’m thinking that April will get a whole arc where she learns to trust Shen - she’s bound to have mommy issues with her own mother’s disappearance). They meet Karai, who they don’t realize is Miwa for a little bit. She is introduced as Shredder’s daughter, and when Leo tells his parents about her, they don’t realize it at first.

Shredder thinks that both Yoshi and Shen are dead, and raises Miwa (now Karai) to believe that Yoshi was the reason Shen is dead. Once he finds out that Splinter is alive, and that Shen is mutated, he blames Splinter for her mutation and instead of simply killing Splinter and the turtles, he tries to kidnap Shen and unmutate her.

As for the boys’ dynamic with Shen?

Leo has his whole “Splinter Jr” thing, but personality wise he’s similar to Shen. He probably would still get along more with Splinter, but I think he’d be close with both of them.

Raph is most like a young Splinter (full of anger) but Splinter isn’t always sure what to do with him - he’s too similar. Shen, however, dealt with Splinter and Shredder as a young woman so she can handle him easily. Raph is definitely a momma’s boy, he’d probably be closest with her.

Donnie tends to be the quiet one who in canon doesn’t really interact with Splinter all that much, but I think he’d get along with Shen. I feel like Shen would be who he went to for advice, and while he can get along with Splinter I think he and Splinter don’t fully understand each other - Splinter doesn’t understand his technology and Donnie doesn’t want to be stuck in “tradition” - Shen had wanted to move on, and I think she would be able to understand Donnie’s interests and help him balance his tech and ninjitsu.

As for Mikey, I think he’s close with both parents. I think Shen would appreciate his humor/silly behavior. He could go to her for comfort and she’d let him - I think she’d be the mom that lets her kids sleep with her after nightmares no matter how old they are.

Anyway, once Karai’s actual parents are revealed I think it could be super dramatic and tense - not just between her and Splinter, but between her and Shen. Shen has definitely changed since Shredder had last known her, so the Tang Shen in Karai’s head is different than the Tang Shen in reality. There could also be a lot of angst potential where Karai wonders why Tang Shen would have left her on the ground - and Shen would probably blame herself for loosing Karai in the first place.

I don’t have any ideas for a nickname for Shen - I think she’d probably have the boys call her mom or some other form of mother - she doesn’t seem like someone who would want to be “Sensei” to her kids.

I feel like Shen’s addition could make the series really interesting - she and Splinter would obviously grieve Miwa, but they’d have each other.

A lot of this feels super jumbled but I’m definitely going to write something for it - even if it’s just a one shot. Idk I think it’s a cool idea

This one is of Tang Shen, Hamato Yoshi, and Oroku Saki. When they were younger, Shen, Yoshi, and Saki were best friends. When they were teenagers, both Yoshi and Saki fell in love with Shen. Shen loved them both, but only loved Yoshi romantically. Yoshi and Saki get into constant fights about how Yoshi “stole” Shen from Saki. Shen mourns the loss of her old friend group. After Saki finds out that his adoptive father had killed his real father, he kills his adoptive father and tries to kill Yoshi. Seeing this, Shen jumps in front of the attack, which causes her death. May or may not have cried making this ngl.

ooh I am deeply obsessed with these three, and they're not even my favorite! I just wish more was done with their relationship, Saki and Yoshi having a brotherly relationship and Tang Shen being their best friend, the tradgedy has been overlooked enough (it's actually what inspired me to create my own iteration)

So Shen dragged the man into parenthood by saying that this is his dead brother's daughter. The dude never dared to check. I think he just wanted a family. >w< So Oroku Saki. I gave him the 2003 design and basically the original mirage backstory. So yes. Splinter killed his brother who was basically an asshole.

Are any of the characters in the Actor AU different from their on-screen personas?

All the actors who play villains are completely different from the characters they play. Shredder for example, he’s actually a really nice guy and gets along great with the Turtle actors and Splinter. Him and Splinter in fact are long time friends and have worked together numerous times in the past.

I like to think that Shinigami isn’t actually goth and is actually a more bubbly colorful person.

The Turtles are roughly the same personality wise except for distinct things like Donnie isn’t actually a genius and Raph doesn’t have an explosive temper.

I’ve even considered Tang Shen to be a movie diva in the AU, opposite to her sweet nurturing character she plays in the show XD

wonder why she became the shredder? ill make a comic at some point probably, she has a deeper connection to a certain hamato family member than just splinter which im also gonna post but if you guys can guess who i’ll give ya a cookie but if not imma just doodle it, alot of the comics or whatever are gonna be a bit out of order and just scenes i think about alot
