if you draw enough monster ocs, when you go back to drawing a human character, it feels like "sameface syndrome" everytime, by virtue of their face being. human.

I want Alasdair to be short enough that he has a bunch of short boyfriends that#feel tall around him? bytte was going to be like 6ft max but then i thought about making her taller and like. what if i made her taller#headloose is not that /short/ but he is Not Tall and prolly pretty lean? twink build for sure#and of course all these short /tall distinctions come with a bias of relativity to my own height which i categorize as medium height#but short ppl call me tall and insist its not average and tall ppl call me short. (5'6) and then i have to factor in how the gender changes#the dynamic of a height like my height is Short For A Man but medium to tall for a Woman. which id argue is medium height bc mens heights#are socially held to high standards (hehe) and also i know ethnicity/race is also a factor? but im out of tags. rip. bye

Something i rlly dislike abt Ganyu's characterization in fandom is how ppl see her being read as a stupid weak stereotype, and they just retaliate with another stereotype but from the other end of a spectrum.
She can be strong, competent, knowledgable and have very important role in the Liyue Qixing for years, but also be kind, humble, avoiding conflicts and NOT always knowing everything. those are not mutually exclusive!!! Yes she's old, no that doesn't mean she's now perfectly confident, knows everything and is good at everything. She's not some untouchable, divine being, better than everyone else. Stop removing humanity from her, when that's the whole point of her identity!!!
When i see overly confident, dominant, bitchy, smug, flirty Ganyu i start throwing rocks bc that's not Ganyu, begone impostor.
I just want Ganyu to be actually herself. Not a submissive secretary caricature. Not a dommy mommy caricature. JUST Ganyu, with all her complexity, strengths and weaknesses.
It's like treating Ganyu's personality as inherently weak and boring, so in the act of "justice for women" ppl just remove it and replace with a caricature of a strong woman. It's driving me insane when those "women defenders" are just slandering them, without even thinking abt it. If someone thinks a woman being quiet, kind, humble, avoiding conflict etc. is inherently "misogynistic" and needs those traits to be completely removed and replaced, then they just hate women
#anyways this is my opinion and i feel like an alien in this fandom sometimes lol#i picked ganyu specifically bc obviously she's my fav so i notice it the most here but this is a bigger problem in fandom i think#i'm literally going insane whenever i see this kinda behavior#everytime ppl criticise hoyo for writing/treating women badly they somehow pick the worst arguments#and don't mention how fandom perpetuates shitty stereotypes#they pick favorites instead of making a point. they still think that certain female characters like keqing and ganyu are boring#bc they refuse to acknowledge that those characters have a lot to them but it's just NOT PROPERLY SHOWED. THATS THE ACTUAL DAMN PROBLEM#they infantilize short women and act like it's all just hoyo's fault for not making them tall. this is insane. this is fucking insane#we're playing anime style video game. everyone is gonna look extra young no matter what!! oh my god!!#rant

when I was a kid I was rlly upset that art teachers didn’t like anime-inspired art, and then I realized it wasn’t the anime aspect. jumping into highly stylized art without knowing the fundamentals AND with a refusal to learn them is a bad combo
#I’m noticing now that a lot of artists don’t do professional critiques anymore#I think it’s a reaction to how people treat beginner artists#and a lot of ppl don’t know that u can draw for like a decade and still be a beginner artist#ppl are cruel#those cringe videos where ppl just took ppls ocs and harrassed n bullied them were so fucked up#that doesn’t mean that artist should be untouchable#I remember the great Miguel gender end debate#where they took miggy from being a tall brown man with heavy wrinkles full lips a defined nose and head shape#and made him a lightly tanned skinny white girl#most genderbends are boring to me for that reason#ppl got mad#some more than others and a bunch of professional artists defended the ppl who did all the whitewashing n shit#but nary a word when artist of colour BLACKz IM TALKING ABT BLACK ARTISTS#get harrassed en masse. or ppl watching spiderverse tryna draw POC for the first time#and uh. drawing them badly. and it’s one thing if it’s a beginner or a kid and a few features are wrong#proportions are hard. that’s not the problem. there’s a difference between a mistake and a choice#someone being able to draw amazing pieces but choosing to white wash choosing to make fat characters thin#we know the difference. or god when nb artists tried tell black ppl how our skin works#but yeah. figured out how to talk about having a crush on my coworker with someone who actually knows him, without getting too embarrassed/worried about gossip lol. all I had to do was admit it to the former coworker who has moved back to Germany! (she’s also one of my favourite coworkers I’ve had in this past year at the store. I miss herrrr)
as an aside it’s slightly hilarious to me that this confession came about as a result of her seeing me post about work in my ig story and responding like, ‘oh no you’re still there?? weren’t you trying to find another job??’ and I had to admit that like. yeah, I am, but I’m also a little reluctant to leave before graduating from friendly-at-work to friendly-outside-of-work with this nerd. terrible reason to stick with a crummy job, but. combined with how miserable job-hunting is in general… here I am, still
