DP x DC: The Most Dangerous Card Game
Ok so Danny has essentially claimed earth as his. And he is fully aware that there are constant threats to the planet. Now he can’t stop a threat that originates on earth (that’s something he’ll leave to the Justice league) but he can do something about outside threats. Doing some research on ancient spells, rituals, and artifacts, he cast a world wide barrier on the planet to protect it from hostile threats so they cannot enter. This will prevent another Pariah Dark incident. However, barriers like this come at a price. You see, there are two ways to make a barrier. Either make one powered up by your own energy and power (which would be constantly draining) or set up a barrier with rules. The way magic works is that nothing can be absolutely indestructible. It must have a weakness. The most powerful barriers weren’t the ones reinforced with layer after layer of protective charms and buffed up with power. Those could eventually be destroyed either by being overpowered, wearing them down, or by cutting off the original power source. No, the most powerful barriers were the ones with a deliberate weakness. A barrier indestructible except for one spot. A cage that can only be opened from the outside. Or that can only be passed with a key or by solving a riddle. So Danny chooses this type of barrier and does the necessary ritual and pours in enough power to make it. And he adds his condition for anyone to enter.
Now the Justice league? Find out about the barrier when Trigon attempts to attack, they were preparing after he threatened what he would do once he got to earth. How he would destroy them. The Justice league tried to take the fight to him first but were utterly destroyed, so they retreated home to tend to their injuries, and fortify earth for one. Last. Stand. Only when Trigon makes his big entrance…he’s stopped.
The Justice league watch in awe as this thin see-through barrier with beautiful green swirls and speckled white lights like stars apears blocking Trigon and his army’s advance. The barrier looks so thin and fragile yet no matter how hard the warlord hits, none of his attacks can get through and neither can he damage said barrier. That’s when Constantine and Zatanna recognizes what this barrier is. Something only a powerful entity could create. For a moment, the league is filled with hope that Trigon can’t get through yet Constantine also explains that it’s not impenetrable. And clearly Trigon knows this too for he calls out a challenge.
And that’s when, in a flash of light, a tiny glowing teenager appears. He looked absolutly minuscule compared to Trigon and yet practically glowed with power (this isn’t a King Danny AU though).
And that is when the conditions for passing the barrier are revealed. And the Justice realize that the only thing stopping Trigon and his army from decimating earth. The only way he can get through….is by beating this glowing teenager in a card game.
Not just any card game though. The most convoluted game Sam, Danny, and Tucker invented themselves. It’s like the infinite realms version of magic the gathering, combined with Pokémon, and chess. And Danny is the master. So sit down Trigon and let’s play.
(The most intense card game of the Justice league’s life).
After Danny wins, this happens a few more times with outer word beings and possibly even demons attempting to invade earth, yet none have been able to beat the mysterious teenager in a card game. Constantine might even take a crack at it and try to figure out how to play. He’s really bad though. Every time this happens, the Justice league worry that this might be the time the teenager looses. Yet every time, he wins (even if only barely).
Meanwhile, Danny, Sam, and Tucker have gotten addicted to the game and play it almost daily. Some teachers might seem them playing the game are are like ‘awww how cute’ not realizing this game is literally saving the world. Jazz is just happy they aren’t spending as much time on their screens playing Doomed.
#DPxDC#Kizzer55555 ideas#Danny makes a card game to save the world.#Technically he worded the ritual so that they had to ‘beat’ him as those are the most powerful barriers and most reliable.#keys can just get lost or stolen (like the one to Pariah’s Coffin)#A riddle would be useless once someone figured out the answer. Like how no one takes the sphynx seriously anymore.#(Sorry Tuck. But it’s true).#And there is NO WAY Danny is just leaving a hole open for anyone to pass through. No thank you!#So…beating him. But it’s not like Danny wanted to fight so…he edited the ritual a TINY bit. Card games are good. Much less painful too.#Danny Tucker and Sam made the most complicated card game they could imagine.#It’s based on their strategies for fighting ghosts. Capturing them in thermoses. And MUCH based on a on field battle strategy.#It often requires spontaneous thinking on the spot. So Danny? In his ELEMNT. It doubles as practice for his actual ghost battles too.#They had SO much fun making this.#Sam added an entire series of plant cards that act as traps and healing ointments and duds that just take up the field.#Tucker added legitimate hyroglyphics combined with Latin as well as English and ghost speak.#Yes. You actually have to speak that language to play. With proper pronunciation. (Amity Parker’s think the three are talking gibberish.)#I headcanon Sam and Tucker are fluent in Ghost.#Constantine WILL figure this game out SO HELP HIM!#Some of the cards also have combinations related to constellations either in name or placement on the board.#By the way the board is based on a Hexagonal summoning circle with Rhunes along the edges#And the placement of the cards on the board and on what rhune MATTERS.#Also the cards move disintegrate and have certain abilities. Think of Harry Potter Wizard Chess.#But they are normal when Danny plays at school. This is just for ✨effect✨ Against invaders.#Danny faces multiple opponents. He also halts alien invasions.#While Danny COULD stop crime on earth he’s not sure how to fight a normal human and hold back so he sticks to ghosts.#The Justice league are going crazy trying to figure out who this entity is and after deep research are convinced this is some sort of#Ancient being who has protected earth for millenia. They have paintings on ruins and everything.#Danny is not aware they think this.#Raven starts praying to Danny as if he is a god and wrangles the other Teen Titans into doing so as well. Danny is still unaware of this.#Danny is not a King or an ancient. Just a very VERY strong ghost.

#do you think even if vis.erys wasn't falling to pieces hel.aena would ever reach out to him for protection?#do you think she would reach for ae.gon? (sorry ae.gon but)#honestly when i think about it i think every single time hel.aena had to idk#hold her father's hand kiss his cheek deal with him patting her head or whatever else#she would in fact flinch and want to avoid it#and be scolded for it but#yeah i just think she is more comfortable with touch from people close to her#and even then depends on the touch#and even then depends on the situation#i don't think she minds ali.cent but i do think she minds /anyone/ at certain moments and this includes when she's angry#and that that's absolutely always true for meltdown/shutdown situations#i also think ali.cent Suffered trying to get maids/ladies hel.aena would let touch her or even her hair#ANYWAYS THIS SHOULD BE A DIFFERENT POST MY POINT HERE IS#YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO HER TO SEE THIS BC HEL IS NOT THE FOCUS BUT WITH MY OVERANALYZER GOGGLES THESE DETAILS MEAN SO MUCH TO ME#SER CR.ISTON IS PART OF THE FAMILY SHE FEELS SAFE WITH HIM HE IS DAD#AE.MOND IS HER FAVORITE!! THE ONE SHE FEELS /THE/ SAFEST WITH!! potentially the one she loves the most#but don't let the others know that
i personally prefer the book version of ae.gon's coronation, but the show version has some little details that i really enjoy (mostly tied to the performances) aeg is great and the subtle changes he goes through are fantastic but i love teeny details about hel.aena. she looks directly at him all the time until the crown is placed on his head (you can see her and ae.mond in the bg, and it's literally as cris.ton places the crown on aeg's head).
when ae.gon looks at each of his family members, cris.ton immediately bows, ali.cent immediately curtsies but imo you can see the reluctance when it comes to his siblings. hel.aena meets his gaze and only then (reluctantly) curtsies. ae.mond honestly barely bows his head. and then she goes back to looking away.
as ae.gon turns to the commonfolk you can see hel.aena stands very close to ae.mond, and when me.leys attacks she reaches for his arm. after ali.cent lets go of cri.ston's arm and he also stands in front of hel, she holds on to his arm too.
and regardless of what the show decided to do with any of them later, i just think! it's such a clear way to show her discontentment with the coronation (because everyone knew it'd lead to conflict and tragedy? because she didn't think aeg.on was fit to be king? because she knew he didn't want to be king? i personally think a mix of all three in different amounts)
and perhaps more significantly because i love overanalyzing characters with 5 seconds of screen time and relationships (of every sort) are my favorite thing to explore with the characters i write but!! when there is a threat, ae.mond is the first person she reaches for. every other person she's close to was right there, her mother was right by her side, but it's ae.mond she reaches for (something to be said about how my man was ready to fight a whole ass dragon and how he does position himself in front of her as if they wouldn't both be burnt to a crisp if rhae.nys shouted a dra.carys but anyway). the show specifically portrays hel.aena as being very particular about touch and not accepting it readily even when ali.cent is trying to comfort her, but she reaches for ae.mond. it implies closeness and trust, but also the way he's clearly seen as a protector, the first person she looked to for safety.
but! she also grabs her dad's ser criston's arm when ali.cent shoves him away with the indirect order to protect the kids instead of her and he goes to hel.aena. and i think that would, again, be a very significant sign that she both feels protected by him and comfortable enough that she touches him. and i think if he was just her mother's sworn shield, that wouldn't be the way of things. but then again i'm a firm believer ser cris.ton adopted all of them so i just think this is further proof that he is seen as dad.

my hatred for totk has many reasons, its like made in a lab for me to hate it and i cannot escape it, that is the worst part of it all and why it wont let me go
(this is even ignoring just how much is wrong with it from a game design perspective, which is alot too, and it too makes me mad bc i care about that as well)
i, unfortunately, care about the timeline, i care about the lore and its consistency, i care about the writing and characters, i like connecting dots that were likely never meant to be connected, and most importantly, I LOVE BOTW- as such, i cannot simply ignore totks existence, as much as i wish i could, botw gets lumped together with totk like they are one game all the time, botw basically ceased to exist as its own game, you cannot look or think about as its own thing, its now always chained to the much worse 'sequel' in a way i dont see it with other game sequels, totk messes with it all, introduces stuff i utterly hate, and i cant escape it, any time i start up botw, i think of totk, everytime botw is brough up, totk will be there, anytime i try to engage with botw content, totk is there, haunting me
i sometimes i wish it did actually kill my love for the zelda franchise bc at least then i could maybe, finally let it go, even if id still be bitter about it, i maybe could let go, but thats not how this kind of obsession works, i cant just choose to not care and move on
its like the worst kind of love hate relationship that keeps chasing me in circles without a chance to rest, and everytime i think it finally slowed down, theres news about it, still, that restart the chase at full speed

i made a post that briefly dipped into the "amarantha was tamlin's mate" theory not long ago, and now that i've seen a handful of posts about it, i like repeating myself, and yelling into the sky while shaking my fist is my favorite hobby, i feel legally obligated to touch on it again (even though no one wants me to).
in my original post i said something about how the theory reeks of victim blaming, and honestly? i stand by it.
people often bring up this theory when talking about tamlin's behavior post-utm. they use it to explain why he was so volatile and why his mental health declined once he killed her and left the mountain or to talk about why amarantha would pursue tamlin at all. its a theory that, at its core, pins amarantha's actions entirely on tamlin.
amarantha was his mate, and the rejection of the bond caused her to snap; amarantha was his mate, so of course he went mad once she was dead; amarantha was his mate, which was why she tore apart prythian for him.
what amarantha was, is full grown. she was a power hungry general who was established in her field. she was mad, obsessive, and the object of her desire was a child who she met through his father.
it is a theory that takes away from tamlin's story, from the impact of the decades of mental abuse and psychological warfare that he underwent by amarantha's hand, and writes it all off as a consequence for him not accepting his abuser's harassment and advances. it makes him responsible for amarantha's wrongdoings, blaming him for her actions because, in the end, tamlin just wasn't a good victim. tamlin didn't square his shoulders and accept the bond to quell her.

Looking back on this YA love triangle I think it’s worth pointing out that neither Shirase nor Dazai are in Chuuya’s league.
Chuuya lives in a nice apartment, runs a thriving blood jewel business, and is successfully beating back several mental illnesses every single day. Elite millennial. Total boyboss.
I can’t believe his only prospects are an overgrown toddler and a demonic hobo (who is also kind of an overgrown toddler)

You know it’s kind of a gift to live in an era where even the pop girlies are putting out albums dealing with really personal, fraught, existential issues about womanhood and life and society and idk it’s just… really cool to see.

you said to send songs that remind you of ships so. hotel california is the most everyone/bruce song to me EVER whether it’s platonic or romantic i feel like it perfectly encapsulates how many of them feel about him.
especially with what i understand of the way jason’s currently being written, with him coming back to bruce no matter how badly he hurts him.
some of the Most bat lines to me are
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this song has been Haunting me. they are all willingly trapped with each other forever no matter what. even when bruce was presumed DEAD their lives STILL orbited around his.
i want to live in your brain so badly. you get it. you REALLY get it oh my god. Bruce is the addiction that none of the Batfam can seem to let go of. all of them *could* leave, especially as they've gotten older. but i've thought a lot about how Jason forgives Bruce again and again in the current run. because it does sort of feel in character for the character Jason is in Rebirth, constantly compromising his morals to work with Bruce or the other Batfam. he will discard everything he is to try to get back in with the family and try to change, always failing inevitably but trying again anyway.
the song is so good at just. describing how it's a toxic and unhealthy, bordering on abusive relationship and yet one they're choosing to be in. i especially like the line "we are programmed to receive, you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave" because it REALLY gets it. Bruce made them this well. he designed every Robin to be dependent on him for their identity and guidance through the world and it led each of them to hate him. yet they won't leave and it's by their own choice, to some degree. all for different reasons, but all attached to Bruce. i really like it as a BruJay song, but i think it also works so well for BruDick or BruTim. Dick, who can't seem to keep crawling back to Bruce and said he would die for Bruce even when they were at their worst. and Tim who has just *always* orbited Batman in some way and can't seem to find an identity outside to orbiting Batman, hence not being able to move on from Robin. it's why so many recent Detective Comics arc have had Tim as the dutiful soldier, finding Bruce during Failsafe, loyal to trying to save Bruce form himself during Gotham War, telling Bruce not to take him to a hospital when he was shot in the neck because he'd rather die than compromise Bruce's mission. and that's his *choice*, he let himself get this tangled with Bruce, knowing what it would become.
all of them hate Bruce in some way and don't want to become him but also can't seem to stop getting pulled in. always craving something they don't have with Bruce anymore, too. they all want to relive those Glory Days. i think that reflects well in the song lyric about wanting a wine that hasn't been around since 1969, craving something that's been gone for years yet they can't stop reaching out for that perfect relationship they all once had with Bruce. because at some point all of them had *all* of Bruce's attention, his love and approval. and then it somehow got ripped away. for Dick, for Jason, for Steph, for Cass, for Tim, it comes for them all eventually. he will never be satisfied and will move on. and they know that but they still choose to stay for the glimpse of heaven.
i like the line of killing the beast too, bc i see it both as wanting to kill the want inside of them for Bruce, and just wanting to kill Bruce in general. (for Jason and/or Steph specifically) how do they kill these feelings they keep coming back to. you've given me endless brainrot i'm never going to forget about. i'm unwell.

when i say beyond evil is above all a love story, it is directly tied to the motive of devotion as absolution. juwon is such a tragic character because all his life, he had to live as the ghost of a person, as the only memory of a woman that he is convinced died because of him, as a husk for all the expectations his father has bestowed upon him and, of course, as the mirror of his mother that he lost when he was too young to fully comprehend such a loss. juwon is a constant, walking parade of guilt and all that guilt sticks to him and has made him cold and unattainable and chock-full of a love he has no idea where to put, an abstract sense of it because he grew up in a world that was rich with the absence of love, not the abundance of it. all he has ever known is violence and loneliness and out of that a rigid sense of justice was born. it had to go somewhere, after all. all of it. then, naturally, there is dongsik who is the picture of devotion, whose entire life has been painted in broad strokes of an abundance of love he could never put anywhere. who is declared guilty despite his innocence, and yet hasn’t let that label consume him the way it has fostered inside of juwon for twenty-seven long, long years. instead, dongsik’s devotion to his sister, to his community, and his family, has absolved him. and that is how and when juwon understands that he can be absolved, too, that this burden he’s been carrying, this unspeakable terror, can vanish. and that is why he kneels down in the rain, another symbol of absolution, and says to dongsik, this man who can be his savior, who can absolve him of all his guilt, that he will take the fall in his place, he will go to hell for him, he will be tormented. the rain washes him clean, as has dongsik’s devotion to his sister done before. just now, it is juwon’s devotion to dongsik that absolves him of his perceived-sins and wrongs and makes him believe again.

i sound like an old man for this but i dont like when things get popular. not because i hate when people like things. i love it when people like things. but because the atmosphere around a piece of media changes from "book club at the local library" to "high school popularity contest but with 30 year olds" when it reaches a certain point of popularity and its just primed to go downhill from there

the whole death watch/true mandalorians civil war is so weird in context because its like if a bunch of "good old days" religious conservatives got in a fistfight with 13th century crusade reenactors in the middle of an iowa cornfield
#star wars#redbean talks#mandalorians#death watch#true mandalorians#theyre both arguing for 'feudal government where we can kill people' but they disagree on who exactly should be getting killed#tor: ah yes everything was better before Those People showed up and made murder a crime#jaster: yes but we should instead strive to emulate the historic crusaders with a semi organized military structured around the resolnare#with which we will go start wars because we like fighting stuff#he even has the neocrusader yellow for field master (jasters yellow diamond)#and red for rally master (jangos red circle; montross' red square)#plus the tradition of adopting the resulting orphans after battles#forget university professor modern au jaster#modern au jaster is a random guy who got a restraining order on him because he started beating up corrupt police#now he's a full on nomadic warlord that nobody can seem to catch#he regularly pops up to exchange punches with Old Rich White Christian-Conservative Politician no.40 in random parking lots#nobody knows where he keeps coming from but all the politicians taking bribes keep getting assassinated#even by mandalorian standards his life is weird#(and then a few decades later boba went and did the exact same thing)#like. he went to CD. got a legal job as a journeyman protector. promptly killed his boss and got exiled. wandered around bounty hunting#for a while. and now hes settled down as some sort of outlaw-warlord who starts bar fights with ex death watch members
