I love how basically the entire ninjago community is in agreement that Arin shouldn’t get powers bc that would ruin the point of his character but the nexo knights community is just totally chill with clay getting powers even though that also ruins the point of his character
#ninjago#nexo knights#ninjago arin#clay moorington#literally clay is not special in any way he’s a normal guy and he only became a knight bc he dedicated himself to it and worked hard#the entire point is that he’s a normal guy who’s not special or inherently talented#god please nexo knights community please realize this

I’m not saying it’s surprising or inherently wrong [on the athletes’ part] or whatever but. the way NIL has shaken out so far with the value of male athletes and their “brands” being determined primarily by their athletic prowess and merits, and female athletes being overwhelmingly valued on their sex appeal above all other attributes, is just so fucking deflating I mean oh my GOD.
#Stanford wbb coach remains correct yall vilified her but she’s BEEN right this whole time#braindead choice feminism meets collegiate athletics what could go wrong !!!!!#people rail against the idea of pay for play but. a) that’s lowkey what’s already happening just with a veneer of NIL™️#and b) if it were pay for play it would like. actually be more equitable for women 😭#wow your value $$$ isn’t inherently linked to your “marketability”? instead maybe partially tethered to ur talent? 🤯

Is every character in Danganronpa assigned a fruit? Like a 🍎🍉 fruit. Hajime has oranges, Komaeda has cherries (though I think that's just you??) and the anon's guy has grapes.
komaeda being cherry coded is just a me thing yeah. i’m right though
i WISH every character in dangan had a fruit assigned to them but nah. foods i know of that are associated with certain dangan characters are as follows
makoto- eggs. bc na-eg-i
aoi- donuts. bc obviously
kyoko- cup ramen. i can’t explain this one to you bc it involves a spoiler but you’ll understand when you see it
hajime- oranges, specifically orange juice. bc he holds orange juice in a single cg. he HAS a canonical favorite food it’s kusamochi (and he hates sakuramochi) but NOBODY talks about this it’s always orange juice this orange juice that
nagito- i have my cherry thing but for a bit there was a meme in the fandom to associate nagito with bagels due to a bit a let’s player did with him. if anyone says the phrase “hope bagels” to me i will kill them. alternatively- oats. i do not have the mental capacity to discuss komaedalovemail with you tonight bc i am Afraid of komaedalovemail so we’re leaving it at that
hiyoko- fuit gummy. bc she likes these and eats em in canon. also bananas bc of her hair
kokichi (the guy the anon likes)- grapes, specifically grape soda. similar to hajime with his orange juice, kokichi is depicted next to a bottle of grape soda labelled “panta” Once . and it became a fandom meme. also he ourple
shuichi- i’ve seen saiouma (kokichi/shuichi) shippers associate him with blueberries so that they match, which. okay 👍
rantaro- avocados. bc of his avocado green hair
korekiyo- spaghetti. bc he eats spaghetti at one point and everyone is like “how the fuck do you do that with your mask” (he is constantly wearing a mask that he never removes) and it is Not Explained
#ask#ghost#that’s all i can think of but there may be more#some characters have favorite foods etc etc#like fuyuhiko with his fried cookies !!#oh and there’s a character in the anime whose talent is that she makes candy. so. i guess she’s got a food associated with her inherently

little something I whipped up, imagine being able to do all 3
#reigen arataka#hayakawa aki#nanami kento#mob psycho 100#mp100#chainsaw man#csm#jujutsu kaisen#jjk#I know arguably nanami is responsible for kids although not really#and that aki isn't exactly pro kids in violence but he's also not inherently opposed to it but also denji and power aren't regular kids#originally it was going to be supernaturally talented at their job which reigne could arguably also fit but eh#trifecta of dudes

not to bring tiktok drama on tumblr but like every time a ‘scandal’ comes out with one of these ‘production companies’ that make fan films i always hope we’re finally gonna discuss how they professionalize something that should be an hobbyist endeavor… and yet every single time i’m disappointed.
#like I know we’ve been talking about it here on tumblr and i remember seeing like one or two videos on tt about it#but other than that creators really don’t seem to be engaging critically with the impact that the very nature of what they’re doing has#and look i truly do love the art that some of the people involved in the project make#like arone is truly one of the most talented cosplayers i know#ethan is an amazing actor and I’ve followed him since before he was even in the marauders#dorian is a great writer and idk the others as well but I’m sure they are all great artists#((naming the just cause i feel like being vague would be worse in this case))#and i do believe they engaged with the project with the best of intentions#without knowing or trying to afford grace on past controversy#and it truly is a horrible predicament to have your work be tainted like that for something you had no control over#but like i do think we should be questioning the very idea of how this fanfilms have been made is inherently a problem#like fanfilms are essentially fanfiction on camera#so as long as a few cosplayers want to get together with their iphones write a script and shoot at the local park I don’t have a problem#but if you are putting in place a product that somehow requires you to fundraise consistently for two years then I have a problem with it#ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE SELLING THE SCRIPT TO DO SO#cause even if that script hadn’t been ai generated#that script is fanfiction and you do. not. sell. fanfiction.#seriously like… do we need to go over our abc again?#like fanart and cosplayers are a bit different in the sense that people sell fanart/do commissions and they can be professional cosplayers#but for any other fanmade project that requires you to put pen to paper (or keyboard to chatgpt ig)#you need to be engaging with several ethical questions regarding any exchange of money#and personally i don’t think that there’s been engagement with those ethical reflections#and this isn’t about any of the people involved and not even about mischief productions specifically#it’s about a wider issue in how we have been collectively normalizing a way of doing things that should not be normal#and like yes star using ai and being overall not good is bad but like can we talk about EVERYTHING ELSE please

been thinking about the liyue gang and how id draw their physical builds so here are some thoughts i had for xy cy and gm in particular
- xingqiu, unsurprisingly, would be quite lanky. i like to think he has broad-ish shoulders, like a thin athlete's build? hes a long boy to me haha, long face, neck, limbs, fingers etc, so naturally hes stands (comparatively) tall at 5'6" or 5'7"
i like to think hes most physically attractive one and has that handsome princely and boyish charm to him because it adds a lot to his fuckass duality LOL
- chongyun is a lot like xiao imo! short stature but with muscular arms. he seems nimble and flexible because of his normal attack animations (which bears a lot of similarities to xiao's actually! this + the fact that chongyun's normal attacks create gusts of wind further reinforces my hc that xiao trains him). sometimes i watch high energy choreography vids on youtube and some dancers look incredibly light on their feet, almost like their body is inherently bouncy? and i imagine chongyun to have that agility to him. chongyun has a delicate face and aura and i let that bleed into my hcs for his fighting style and physical capabilities hahaha. hes kind of like a cat who's deceptively strong. as for height.. just a few inches taller than xiao, so perceptibly short at 5'4"
- ga ming my new beloved. pretty much similar to chongyun but more muscular and stronger just because he wields his claymore with ease. theres a noticeable weight different between cy and his claymore the way he lugs it up after he swings (or even other claymore users like razor who, on his last hit, bounces from impact). meanwhile ga ming literally slams his to the ground LOL. i love his movements though hes very swift and expressive and radiant.. if cy has delicate movements then ga ming's is fierce and (charmingly!) assertive
ga ming is wonderfully charismatic though, i know hes not well known in liyue harbor yet, but he seems like the type to gain a reputation from his friendliness. how could no one adore him hahaha. 5'5" for height! just between xy and xq
#tangy talks genshin#chongyun gets analyzed most my bad#this was super fun though#while thoughtful ; genshin chara designs will always look distinctly gacha and flashy so a lot of the designs kinda blur together in my hea#this is why i really like looking into their animations particuarly their normal attacks#i think it conveys their personalities really well! it's always something to look forward to when new characters release#i gravitate towards swords polearms and claymores most though because i like the act of swinging and slashing hah. it also requires a lot o#body movement and reflects a lot of irl martial arts fencing and other combat techniques#sword users are always really fun to watch because theyre inherently graceful hahah. i will admit it gets kinda repetitive#i think my favorite NA animation has to be albedo's.. very simple clean and refined. he stands elegantly and puts his arm behind his back o#his 2nd attack which ive been transfixed by since be first came out in 2020 LOL. i love albebo#wow these tags are long as hell#but anyway i actually have more thoughts on xq's physical appearance but its just me rambling about how i think hes funny as fuck#im a proponent of dashingly pretty princely xingqiu not necessarily because i want to bestow upon him desirable traits#but because i think its funny knowing hes just a bit of a loser under all that#hes well known (mr worldwide one might say) and the heir to a prestigious guild and chivalrous talented and prolific#but he writes self insert novels hates carrots had bad handwriting sings really bad#hes just a teenage boy#as always i will 100% have more to say about chongyun but ill save that for another post#ga ming on the other hand.. i dont have anything substantial to say but hes super fun to think about#hes such a likable character#wow these tags are LONG as fuck ill stop now.

Ok, maybe The Lego Movie was kind of good
#it's about the inherent value of art. Of bad and weird art.#not because the art is perfect#but because it is self expression. and the people expressing themselves are valuable.#It's about the danger of gatekeeping. You can't exclude “boring” or “uninspired” art. Even boring and uninspired people deserve to make art.#you can't exclude “weird” art either. Weird people deserve the freedom to make art.#And within those “everyday” artists are people who have amazing talent!#But if we discourage people from making art we rob them and ourselves of what they can bring to the table.

i do find the difference between jpop/kpop showcasing people who didn't necessarily have the most raw talent to begin with openly working hard to become better singers or dancers vs the western, and specifically US obsession with acting like the only real talents are the ones who were "born" with it from day dot interesting.
#this isnt a Ooh western music bad post either by the way#i do just find the way over time its gone from ever really showing any of the hard work a person put in to just pretending it was 100%#natural is very interesting#bc No... even the people with natural talent have to nurture it#whereas seeing someone who was kinda terrible to begin and actively showing them improve and being like This was bc they practiced is nice#although that def seems less of a thing as kpop gets bigger and bigger#ive seen some terrible vids of idols and its like no you put in the money to train them properly good lord#its the same way i always find the obsession with bands in the west forming “naturally” rather than being put together funny#like I get it bc some lil high school friends makin a group and becoming big is very fun and cool#but so often those groups implode and ended up hating each other#a group of musicians getting together bc they're musicians doesn't inherently make them less interesting as a group that formed on their ow

Another thing that just absolutely blows my mind is how strong Shen Qingqiu is too. Shen Jiu didn't have any training and he was able to turn a coin into a knife at a moment's notice when he was twelve! At fifteen, beyond late to begin training, he controlled a sword to float!! No training!!! And then, despite cultivating late and having a hard time with it, he still managed to form a core in ten years!!! If he and Yue Qingyuan had gotten to the sect at 12, they would be absolutely unstoppable!!!!!!!
#shen jiu#shen qingqiu#just wait until i decide to write about how both of them could easily be a protagonist#both of them have the tragic backstory#the motivation to be strong#the inherent talent and ability of a protagonist but with the determination of an antagonist

#commission an artist bitch#or find something you’re good at#I do think inherent talent exists and that practice can only take you so far#but fuck you at least try before giving up maybe you’ll end up with something somewhat decent like me#bookmark'd

Whilst I don’t deny that Kamen Rider 71 is just like in general a very silly show in a lot of regards it seems very strange to me the idea that like it was ever like a Stupid show. Or like written stupidly. I would actually argue that KR71 is often times a very smartly written and earnestly written show. It’s very open about its anti-imperialist slash anti fascist themes and will through writing and production showcase its understanding of the harm those systems cause as well as slash in conjunction to that provide allegories to the real world methods it utilises to hurt people. And on a more general note it just takes the characters and plots for the most part Very seriously it takes their journeys and their actions Seriously. It doesn’t diminish or insult their emotions or their intellect or them just trying in the first place. There’s things you can and should criticise in various different aspects but I genuinely would not consider it a bad show at all which I feel like is common or was common for people who didn’t want to give Toku media a chance usually do slash did- like, arguments about how the Goofiness or Corniness Automatically Made it Bad in some way. Idk Im just saying words probably don’t consider me an authority on this but It’s how I feel
#kamen rider#kamen rider extravaganza hour#dinu yells into the void#dinu yells in the void#im fucking exhausted out of my mind so im just like saying wordssssss but like. fuckkk i dunno man#i feel like personally for years ive always seen people who arent toku fans especially people who were americans act as though toku media#was like. inherently a lesser form of media because its Silly and Its Overdramatic and Its Emotional#like acting like its ‘kiddie shit’#like they used their memories of stuff like power rangers to justify this belief too instead of actually watching to#*toku media#like very similar honestly to how people act about comic books like actual comic books and animation#and its like. when u actually give these genres or mediums a chance. you realise how sincere and talented a lot of it is#i was thinking about this because in this episode theres like a scene where shocker lieutenants dress up in costumes akin to the KKK clan#like its what im assuming the reference is and im just like. this is such a smart show. like it genuinely has a lot of smart writing when it#comes to their like nazi fascist villains. it doesnt shy away from taking it seriously or referencing irl hate groups#it makes me think of it compared to like mcu media which ppl ALWAYSS for years acted like the height of superhero cinema#and mcu shit is like. not only is it immune to genuinely caring about anything at least in recent years. but it also hated actually making#commentary and fucking sticking to it. like itd you an inch and ppl took a mile when therr wae no milr#fuckkkkkkk dont mind me . im just insane i think. i odnt know.#taking my insanity from being a american comic fan and bringing it over to my to#toku era. sorry

lolth-sworn society beauty standards must be so crazy and strict tho…. like if the red eyes are a gift from lolth and if not every drow are born with the red eyes I just imagine you’d get ostracised if you’re born with white eyes or purple, like ur not wanted by lolth from birth so ur inherently worthless. in the same vein if you also don’t have white hair then you’re treated as an Other bc you don’t look like everyone else. and I imagine that lolth is THE very definition of their beauty standard so they aspire to look like her, and all the beauty trends and ideals are influenced from her or from her spiders and if there’s anything any feature about yourself that deviates from lolth’s standards then you’re considered as ugly and grotesque.
likewise, I’d imagine the upkeep of beauty is a sort of status symbol because if you manage to keep up with the elaborate outfits and hairstyles without worrying someone is gonna kill you with it it means that you have the luxury to be comfortable. and also the means to afford such things in the first place bc resources in the underdark are pretty limited and gems from the surface needs to be imported and id imagine they’d be more expensive bc it’s already so risky going down the underdark let alone doing trade in menzoberranzan.
like unsure if this an actual thing too but I like the hc so it’s real to Me! But I like the idea that hair is essentially a status symbol towards the drows, and they favour elaborate braids and updos that resembles a spider’s web and cocoon, and a way to punish and shame someone is to cut off their long hair. like imagine if the matriarchs wore gigantic elaborate braided hair with all these head pieces and designs to show off the status of their house and the power they themselves have, and the lesser houses’ braids are much more smaller in comparison. she would have the means to do her hair like that daily because she has designated servants and slaves attending to her needs, and she has the money to afford all sorts of accessories. and the same goes for their clothes too, since silk is a favourite amongst the drows and it’s a pretty difficult fabric to work with. I’d also imagine lace being a highly sought out fabric among them since it’s so delicate and flimsy, and it could easily snag. but the fact that you’re able to wear something fragile as lace is a power play in itself since it’s a show off your own strength and power … kind of like a taunt ?
anyway, this isn’t really going anywhere I’m just typing aloud but I’d imagine in a society where almost everyone’s colouring is similar to each other, where beauty is one of the most infamous traits they’re known to have, and where they claim that red eyes is a gift from the goddess they’re all expect to covet and worship id imagine the beauty standards there are so crazy and toxic lol
#like to me I like the idea that shri’iia is actually considered kinda plain looking#there’s nothing special about her face she looks like every other drow and her matriarch preferred that so no one remembers her face#when she goes out on her missions. like specifically she has told her she has a face one could forget#and shri’iia is like ok ❤️ yay ❤️#but she also doesn’t think of herself as beautiful. she thinks drows are inherently beautiful tho but as an individual she’s not bc it’s#been drilled in her head that her face is plain looking and forgetful#so when she goes into the surface and when people say that drows are beautiful she will agree but she also assumes they mean it in a#fetishising sense and they find them exotic and sexy and hot and etc. but if someone tells her that /she’s/ beautiful#like about herself as an individual shes less likely to believe it#if we’re talking about shri’iia in like a personal sense if you strip off her paladin ideals and paladin talents#and all the things that she can do and is good at etc. she actually has a pretty low self esteem lol#like she believes she’s only worth something if she can do anything. and she believes more in the ideas she follows and the actions she#does and less about her as her own self if that makes sense???? in my head it does#she is very surprised that someone will like her as a person genuinely and not as someone who is able to do things for them#she’s just so used to serving and attending to another’s needs and receiving validation from that that she’s disregarded her own wants and#needs 🥰#which is why the oath breaking is such a pivotal moment for her… she’s placed her identity on an ideal that’s been ripped away from her#and she’s left with the /self/ she’s neglected… what do u do abt that huh..

There is something very devastating to me about writing.
I don’t know, it’s about writing being one oldest form of share thoughts but, at the same time, the most... “limited”.
Music, drawing, animation. These things also take time to be made. It’s all ways of art that requires just as much effort and dedication. But I can’t help but feel that they are easier ways for your art to be shared, objectively speaking.
A painting can be comprehensible due to its aesthetics and style. Just like a song, it sticks in your head, holds your attention. I can tell if the sound is sad or happy or angry.
A book can't do that.
You don’t watch or hear a book. It won’t reach people with its visuals or sounds, things that are so common to humanity as a whole... and that hurts me.
Feeling that the art that I love so much can’t be as universal as I want it to be. A song can reach people who speak different languages, and so can na image. A book will always have a language barrier. If it is not translated, others will not have access.
I cannot rely solely on sound and vision and feelings that go beyond language. Not like a artist or a musician can.
I am a communicator blocked by my own way of communication.
And that hurts.
#writers on tumblr#artists on tumblr#creative writing#writing#writing comunity#I have so many feelings about this#I was listening to a new artist the other day#Yaeklore and they are like the most talented person I have ever seen in my entire life#no joke#They sing draw compose play and tell a story in the most creative way I have ever seen#mostly through music#Even though I don't understand what they are saying sometimes#I find it incredible how I can see them smiling during the song just by the sound for exemple#I was struck by how this art form can touch anyone in the world#how many songs do we love even without knowing what they say?#how many books do you love even without knowing what they bring? none#Writing is inherently limiting sometimes#but it is also the only art form I know and can do#anyways just some thoughts that come and go in my head#sorry for the rambles

So in the boy king au, we know nando falling in love is a... process. but how long and why does seb fall in love with nando?
Aaaaaagh great question!!!!
Seb is pretty infatuated with Nando from the start, well at least the idea of him. His council does *not* want this marriage to work out(they'd rather get into a war and completely rule Spain, then having to barter for it through marriage like this.) Seb knows this, and he's a little brat who always gets anything he wants, right? So of course when he hears of this, he's now like, *I must have him,* and gets obsessed and fascinated with the idea of Fernando. And he also already remembers Fernando as this older boy he had a silly childish crush on when he was a kid, so that adds to his desire.
I think he definitely also takes to fall genuinely in love with him. That's why there's all that stuff about Fernando just being his "kept wife." Because I think they both have trouble viewing each other as real people, rather than just larger-than-life figures/caricatures. Seb originally just views Fernando as something to be won, something to gain, like obtaining a fancy horse or property, or new title(wink.) And Fernando can't help but just see Seb as a kid playing dress up and pretending to be a ruler, undeserving of everything he has.
I think the way they fall in love is gradually just understanding the humanity of the other. They realize they can both learn valuable things from the other. And that they're more similar than they think, and that they have a lot more in common then they ever would be comfortable admitting. It's hard to put an amount of time duration on it thought, its a gradual thing, y'know? I think though probably they have some outside opposition at some point, and end up defending each other unprompted. Ex:
Someone says Fernando shouldn't be the King of Spain. Seb gets *super* offended and lists a bunch of reasons about why Fernando is fit to be King. It's funny because he wouldn't admit this to Fernando even under duress, but then he willingly defends Fernando in front of the entire court, even though it undermines his own position(bcs he's basically admitting that he has no right to that throne and Fernando always was the rightful ruler.)
Someone accuses Seb of being an immature ruler and not being suited for the position of Emperor. Fernando gets sooooo pissed and is all like "you think my husband isn't suited?? You think I would agree to marry a man who isn't suited to be emperor?? You think I'd willingly demean myself in that way!?" Even though he constantly calls Seb immature and unsuitable to his face. But absolutely God forbid someone else imply that. It's so offense to him because he eventually considers Seb to be an extension of himself, so it's like he's being insulted as well.
#also i think seb falls in love with him bcs fernando is very finicky and grumpy +#but when he genuinely gives you his attention +#(to quote The Talented Mr Ripley) its like the full power of the sun is shining on you#seb doesnt really know what its like to be truly liked/loved/desires bcs hes surrounded by people who are obligated to like him#<- even if they do genuinely like him theres still an inherent power dynamic#but here comes this man who is practically his equal and who decidedly *doesn't* like him and seb has to win him over#and obviously thru that process he learns more abt who fernando truly is as a person rather than just a prize to be obtained#and becomes incredibly endeared and in love with fernando himself#its fascinating for him to have someone whos not afraid to disagree/compete/fight with him#he craves fernando's praise and attention bcs it has to be won over rather than given freely and easily#seb pretends not to care what people think of him but fernando is definitely not afraid to tell him what he thinks#so hes not satisifed just having fernando around and just falls in love w him thru that process#but yeah oops sorry no time given bcs its so gradual and complicated#catie.asks.#catie.rambling.txt#boy king au

this might be a hot take... but if you care about disavowing media made by bad people out of fear of looking like a bad person yourself more than you care about actually doing good things... you might have your priorities (and your morals) screwed up a bit :/
(see my tags for more of my thoughts on this topic! please try to avoid making make bad-faith assumptions about what i mean!)
#melonposting#there is a good case for not wanting to associate with something on account of the creator being harmful. sure whatever#but people have talked at length about the sort of moral ocd that it promotes when that idea is fervently preached and enforced#i don't know about you but i think there's a big difference between#a) not wanting people to associate with something because the media itself spouts harmful rhetoric#and because its bigoted creator both benefits from people engaging with the books and is idolized by many of the books' fans#and b) not wanting people to vocally enjoy ANYTHING made by ANYONE who's held any harmful ideology at any point#because doing so 'inherently' supports and spreads those harmful ideologies#it's true that you cannot separate the art from the artist#but good people can make bad art and bad people can make good art. artistic talent is not inherently correlated with the artist's morals#the goodness/badness of a person CAN seep into the art they make. and it often does. and that can affect one's enjoyment of it#but even then there's nuance to be had on how to deal with it#like my hero academia for example. when i started watching it in middle school i didn't know how misogynistic it would be#of course i ended up seeing it in the show (and god it's so misogynistic)#and i ended up learning that the 'joke' sexual-harasser character is a self-insert for the creator#which of course i could never get behind. the creator is undeniably a horrible guy#at the same time though the show means a lot to me and i've gained a lot from watching it#i won't elaborate here on how but believe me it isn't superficial. if you want to ask me about it i'd be happy to share#i can hold both in my mind. the disgust and the enjoyment. i don't think those have to be mutually exclusive#of course not everyone is like that; you could immediately stop liking the show on discovering the gross stuff. and that's your prerogative#i don't know... i agree with the values behind avoiding media made by people known to have moral failings#and in some cases (like harry potter and jkr) i fully endorse the values and the practice. but such cases are very specific#but in most cases i fear the practice is misguided and unnuanced and ultimately unhelpful in fulfilling one's values#it is largely a philosophical matter: about how an individual regards their moral standing in the context of themselves and other people#which is important to discuss - especially in our globalized internet age! speaking of which feel free to disagree with me#if you want to have a civil discussion i'm more than open to it#but no matter how important this matter... there are way more important ones in the world. especially right now#calling out people who watch a youtuber who said something bigoted 5 years ago does little to stop that bigotry overall#just have good morals and practice them! support oppressed people! be thoughtful and understanding and compassionate!#callouts and dni lists rarely make for impactful advocacy!!!
