Day 16 Elephant’s Trunk Pose 🐘 Picture on the left is from today 3/16/20 Picture on the right is from 1/3/17 What’s with this pose? Lol I don’t remember it feeling this hard three years ago....🥺😳🐘 It’s funny looking at today’s picture you can see a slight smirk on my face. Wanna know why? I actually enjoy a bit of a challenge. Obviously I would love lift right up smile and breathe easily...but that’s not how it went down lol Three years ago that’s all I wanted...to LIFTTTTTT! And so I did. But here’s the compromise—in 2017 there’s too much push coming from my right leg, yes I’m lifting higher on that side but the lift isn’t coming from the right place. The right place?? Yes. The core!!!!!!! Core power isn’t just about being ripped lol it’s also about learning directional awareness/your placement in space...trippy 💫✨I compromised the form in 2017 in my shoulders because of the push coming from my leg, but that’s okay :) now I lift just a widddddddle bit more and I’m lifting from my core, & connecting that strength to my shoulders. I’m proud of the progress. I was thinking oh wow I can’t wait to see how much easier this pose will be...expectations can lead to disappointment lol I was. I tried this pose in the morning several times and needed to walk away for a bit. I was getting angry 😂 and needed to cool off for a bit. I gave myself the space and tried again with less attachment and finally decided on a picture for you guys. Sometimes things don’t go as planned. That’s okay. We’re here to learn :) things aren’t always easy right away and I still remind myself that everyday. I suppose this is why I still feel like a beginner. I still get emotional in poses. I still want things to “look good”. 𝗧𝗼 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 “𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴”..... With being so sick the last few days I’ve been a bit out of sorts. My body is drainined of energy and I’ve been in a bit of pain. When you’re not feeling 100% it really takes some effort to even want to feel anything in particular. I’ve been “wanting” to give a sh$t, but I just haven’t.... I haven’t felt like talking. I haven’t felt like posting on social media. But that’s made me realize that, that’s ok. It’s ok to listen to my body. It’s ok to take a break. It’s ok to say no. There is no guide book to how quick you should recover from a major illness or how to go about it. So, right now, I have to listen to myself. The inner voice which is telling me to slow down.
