How I'd write Esme as a proper villain

GH scabs are free to take this because this "everybody props Esme" stuff is getting annoying. All the actors deserve better. And if you read all this, you are a SAINT

Have her memories be back/come back after another meeting with Heather triggers her repressed memories.

With her memories back, she wants revenge and makes a plan with Heather. This time her revenge is only at Spencer. She frames him for numerous crimes she commits and her big, final framing is of him r*ping her.

Trina with an assist from Laura and a newly returned Nik work to prove Spencer's innocence. Trina is able to find evidence that esme committed all the crimes and framed Spencer. She FINALLY gets to unleash all her anger on Esme.

Esme is arrested and Spencer is freed. Spencer stops waiting and finally proposes to Trina. Because of Portia's meddling ass, they run off to elope with Cam and Ava as their only witnesses. They get a romantic honeymoon.

Kevin, guilty that he could never save his brother, works on trying to save Esme thru prison bars. BUT when she asks him to help her remove Ace from Nik and Spencer's clutches by lying to a judge, Kevin refuses.

Esme is furious. She really believed that her uncle Kevin would help her no matter what. She breaks out of jail and attacks Kevin at his GH office (think Carter and Lucy's attack on ER)

Kevin is stabbed multiple times, but his biggest injury is Esme basically stabbing his throat.

Liz finds Kevin bleeding out and calls Laura. Laura, a returned Lulu (who woke up to believing it was 2006 {that's a whole other story haha}), Martin, Lucy, Mac and Felicia wait for TJ to finish operating. Nik calls Spencer, who is on his honeymoon, to tell him about Esme's latest crime and Kevin's condition. Spencer and Trina rush home to be at Laura's side.

Kevin survives, but he will never be able to speak again. Dante and Jordan find Esme and arrest her. Laura rushes to the PCPD to confront Esme. We get to see Laura finally tell Esme off (no more sweetheart here). Esme is jailed for life. But shows no remorse because she was able to take away something precious from Kevin like Ace was taken from her.

The entire next arc is Kevin slipping into a deep depression for losing the ability to speak forever and the family rallying around him. His ASL teacher ends up being his long lost son who falls for LuLu.

Rain world stuff! Feels like it’s been forever.

Rain World oc I’ve had floating around my mind for over a year now. They’re called The Foster, and exist in between Artificer’s and Hunter’s campaigns.

From the very edge of the other side of Moon’s can, they traveled once food became too scarce in the cold tundras, they were unfortunately caught by a vulture and accidentally dropped in the middle of Pebbles’s city. They find the only scavenger left alive, a young one. And take care on the poor thing.

Their campaign features them being pursued by an older, nearly always sparking and fizzling Artificer, who has killed all the scavengers in pretty much every area in the game. Their goal is to make it to the Outer Expanse, the only place Artificer has yet to reach due to the gate being closed. A temporary opening has made itself known, there are scavengers there surely willing to take the little thing in.

Thought I’d also share some iterators who are a major part of the Elder’s campaign and might come into Foster’s story at some point. Idk, I’m still figuring it out.

disclaimer: all of this is my PERSONAL opinion. if you believe something different, that’s completely fine and i support that! however these are just my thoughts bc ive gotten a lot of delancey asks recently and i think they are FASCINATING but not for the (recently) popular reasons

real talk though: i personally think the delanceys are less compelling and fun when theyre redeemed tbh. i think, if you’re going to like the delanceys or use them in fics or make fan art of them, you can’t sanitize what they’ve done. THATS what makes them compelling and fun- they’re ruthless, they’re mean, and they don’t give a fuck about the newsies. they can have whatever backstory you want them to have but they are not The Delancey Brothers if you take away the one thing they have in canon: brutalizing children and having fun with it.

you can absolutely blame their actions on a tragic backstory. i’m not saying you can’t. but taking that fanon backstory and turning them into redeemable, lovable characters is frankly disrespecting the source material, and it doesn’t make sense in regards to canon. you can humanize them without sympathizing with and redeeming them, essentially.

and to me, that’s the fun part! the delanceys are good characters because they’re awful characters. they’re fucked up. they have no remorse. they help ruin lives and they brutalize children and they never show any guilt, or any indication that this isn’t exactly what they shouldn’t be doing. the delanceys are fascinating characters that i truly love, but only because they are irredeemable and dejected and downright brutal. that’s what they are. you can’t change that.

and before anyone says that you can change it in an au: you can! you can absolutely do that- but they won’t be a Delancey if you do. they won’t hold the same weight. if you treat them like they’re “uwu sweet boys”, you’re actively going against everything in the source material; at that point, they aren’t The Show’s characters. they are Your characters. if you want to change them up, that’s fine and wonderful and a lot of iterations of their characters are really interesting, but the driving force behind the delanceys as characters is their codependent brutality. there has to be an aspect of that for them to be recognizable, and i think that’s fucking INCREDIBLE.

basically, there has to be some Essence of their canon characteristics to make out-of-character things work. i’m known for my love of david jacobs, so i’m going to use that as an example. is my davey accurate to the show? no, because i love giving him my own backstory and character traits. but i have reasonings behind the traits i give him, and those reasons are based pulled from canon and expanded on. you can’t just completely ignore canon for everything because then- like i said above- they aren’t The character anymore, they’re Your character, and it’s not the same.

the delanceys are a masterclass in the fact that trauma (though completely fanon- there’s no canon evidence of it) is not always something you can overcome, because you continue to perpetuate it. at that point, they’re no longer victims. they’re just as bad as who created them.

yooooo i made the big flap of detached skin from my burst blister reattach and start growing again! it was just hanging on by a corner sliver and NORMALLY i would have cut it off but it was too awkward to do with my non-dominant hand. i'd written it off and was waiting for the skin to die but now the WHOLE area is reattached and up and running again!

this is a testament to the power of moisturizing wounds btw. all i've done is kept it clean, protected, and continually greased up with petroleum jelly. i wish i'd taken pictures. DAMN i'm good at wound management, i'm genuinely hype about this
