First, an announcement. Sato Takeru finally got his driver's license! Driving is so much fun. I don't drive to work sites, so I only drive when I'm completely at home. The other day, six guys went to the beach in Chiba for a barbecue. I was working that day, so we met up later in the car. By the way, the person in the passenger seat at that time was... TAKA-chan from ONE OK ROCK, who I took a photo session with this time. We've been getting along really well lately. When I'm feeling lonely, I sometimes play ONE OK ROCK songs in the car. That makes me feel like I'm not alone. Their music has saved me. I really think TAKA-chan is very talented. It's cool, so I hope everyone will listen to it. Sometimes I go for a drive by myself. But on my days off, I usually sleep all morning. I haven't read manga or played games lately. I used to love playing games by myself, but now I'm not good at doing things by myself. Or rather, I don't feel like doing anything! I just hate being alone, so when I have free time, I'll just ask my friends. Also, although it's actually quite difficult, I think I'll "take action." I think I've become more proactive in trying new things and going to new places. I think that's a big change from the past.

...I talked a lot this month too (lol). Thank you for reading to the end. All the highlights of this issue are here, but I want you to pay particular attention to the photo session with ONE OK ROCK. TAKA and I had been talking about "wanting to do something together," so this is the first step. I'm glad that our first work together was realized with "Takemaga"!

"Today is the 3rd live PF stream, and Taka’s first time to host one of these. They’re doing the stream from a radio studio. Even if they do a stream with all the members, Taka is usually the one who ends up talking the entire time, so this time they’re trying something new.

When Taka jacked Miura Shouhei’s YouTube stream, they ended up talking a lot about things they shouldn’t have talked about. They’re not going to talk about how Takeru saw OOR at a culture festival and became a fan that way

They thougth about talking about love, and Takeru asked Taka if he’s ever had a one-sided love. Taka said he has, which surprised Takeru a lot (Note: this is in the video above)

Takeru’s explaining to Taka what a one-sided love is, like thinking about the girl when going to sleep, wondering how they feel about you, etc, and now Taka says he’s never felt that way. 😅

Taka hasn’t dated in a while so he doesn’t know the feeling. In Taka’s case, he feels like, instead of confessing to someone and starting to go out that way, he just hangs out with them a lot and naturally they end up dating. Taka isn’t the type to come out and announce to everyone around him that he’s seeing someone.

What is Takeru’s favorite OOR song?

That’s hard to answer. The Kenshin songs are special to him. He likes Kanjou Effect, and probably likes rock ballads. Taka hasn’t had a song that made him go “this is it” since “The Beginning”. Not including Kenshin songs, Takeru likes “Living Dolls”

Takeru has seen a lot of different concerts at Zepp, but OOR is the only band he feels where the Zepp might have come crashing down

It was tough for Taka performing without an audience.

During “Liar,” Takeru’s like, “Oh noooo!! He’s (Taka’s) dying! He might not be able to continue singing after this!” 😂

Back in the day, even if Taka gives it his all and doesn’t think about the next day, once the tour is over, he can rest, but now when they tour, the tours are so long that it’s hard to sing carelessly like that

From Takeru’s POV, he feels even foreigners can feel OOR’s passion

Taka feels they have to perform this year overseas. Takeru thinks an acoustic live might be good since it would be quieter and people wouldn’t be shouting.

Taka is pretty over covid now 😅 It’s pretty clear that he wants to perform in front of an audience

Taka is wondering about how some people in the audience are doing nowadays. There’s one person who is always diving. Taka remembers their face cuz they’re endlessly rolling up to the front 😂😂😂 Takeru’s like, “They’re not listening to the music.” This fan bumped into Taka on the street once, and they were totally different than at concerts when they’re diving. Taka is curious about how people like this are doing where the only place they can relieve stress is at concerts.

Taka is asking Takeru what he thinks the entertainment industry is missing. Takeru says that Hollywood is in the English-speaking world so it’s hard to make something that compares to that, but he feels they should be able to make something comparable to what Korea puts out. Korea is also in Asia like Japan, so he feels they should be able to make something comparable, and he’s thankful to Korea for making the Western world look at Asia

The Koreans are really serious and passionate, and that’s why they’re able to make their mark even in America. Takeru says the Koreans are blazing the path and that Asia/Japan and learn from them

Takeru feels Japan can’t completely copy Korea right away. What they come up with now is like what Korea was putting out 10 years ago. They need to build up the foundation and work from there. Takeru says what Japan needs is a star. It’s humans who tell the story, afterall, so Japan needs someone that the world can recognize. The people that Japanese people consider a star might be seen differently by foreigners. Taka suggests viewers check out Katsu Shintaro. He considers him a star

Taka has no interest right now in people who make their way up the traditional way. He’s currently interested in those who become known via social etc Taka’s watching a lot of TikTok, Instagram, etc. nowadays. He wants people to give him suggestions of who to check out

Takeru said that there hasn’t been an artist like OOR to come out recently. Taka says it’s a cycle and one comes out every x years. Last artist that made Taka feel that way was Hosomi Takeshi and ELLEGARDEN. Orange Range also comes to mind

They’re talking about who to have as guest next, and a name was mentioned but it was right when the stream skipped a bit so I missed who they said. Oh, looking through the chat log, it looks like they were talking about Yonezu Kenshi?? Maybe we’ll see him on the next live stream?

What if the lions came to Merlin Academy?

Teen Mufasa with Matt Sato in the lead. Prince Mufasa, who enjoys making friends, loves to play games and shows respect for all the creatures, even his devious little brother, Scar. Mufasa's childhood seemed perfect and he prides himself on being a good rule-following person.

He has brown hair, and amber-gold fur. While his clothes were torn, he still looked regal by all means. He wore a torn golden jacket with orange fur, dark brown pants, boots, and had markings on his are chest, gold bracelets, and fangs.

And Dallas Dupree Young as Young Scar…or Taka, as his name was before he got the scar. Mufasa's younger brother. He's determined, intelligent, and always tries his best at everything he does, his first day, he quickly makes an impact as one not to be messed with. He's very competitive with his big brother, who had created quite an emerable reputation for himself. He wants to be known as more than "Mufasa's little brother.”

He’s a dashing dark-skinned young man with a playful smirk. He had midnight black hair and baring claws, and the scar over his left eye. He wore a torn shirt that showed off his chest, a black leather vest with a fur collar that showed off his arms, two chains, ripped, baggy brown pants, high black boots, and a few spiked bracelets.

Now I gave them this really cool thing called the Lion’s Eye. These special necklaces that allow them to transform from human to lion at will.

~translation~

-I suppose you have a variety of memories, but what is the most impressive one?

Taka: We went to Tateyama in Chiba Prefecture with our close friends. At that time, we ran out of gasoline. It was terrible and we had many other troubles but it was the most fun, I suppose. On my birthday, they got one suite of rooms at a hotel all to ourselves and held a party for me. I’ll never have a more exciting birthday in the future.

Sato: We all stayed at the hotel and we went to the Disney Sea the next day, all boys. But this guy cannot ride any rides lol.

Taka: I’m a coward. I don’t like them.

Sato: But I said, ‘It’s all right. Just ride it, and you’ll find it fun’, but he said, ‘No, no fun at all. Absolutely impossible’. But we forced him ride against his will, and as expected, no fun at all …

Taka: I got kind of angry, you know lol. But it was super exciting, that day.

Sato: At one time, it was booming among us to celebrate someone’s birthday with éclat. But it was Taka who started it. He celebrated my birthday with super éclat. In the first place, we ate out as usual … … We have some mutual friends and we usually get together and eat out on someone’s birthday. But we have so many friends that, say, it is difficult for all of us to gather together, you know. I know that really well, so I was happy enough when just five or six of them got together. Then after we finished eating, suddenly, I was made to wear a sleep shade and a head phone. With sight and hearing deprived, I was taken to some other place. Sato: And when it was exactly 0 o’clock, they said, ‘Happy Birthday!!’ and ONE OK ROCK did a live there for me.

Taka: Yeah. And after that we went to the Disney Resort, you know. I completely paid you back double.

Sato: As for me, he did so much for me that I’m planning to do much more for him next time. I remember making a new microphone for Taka’s birthday.

Taka: Yes. And I used it during the tour.

Sato: At that time, Taka wanted to use a red mic, I suppose, but since there was no red one, he was using a mic wound up with a red packing tape. I thought, ‘Come to think of it, he is using a red mic’, and bought a common mic and asked an artist I know to process it into a red one and write a message in English in black, ‘It’s about time for alternation of generations’ in a spiral manner’.(*This is my translation from Japanese. Taka: Couldn’t have been better. I cried.

Sato: He cried. He was crying but he drank so much on that birthday.

Taka: Stinking drunk lol

Sato: But he said, ‘I don’t remember the time when I was drinking, but the only thing I remember is I was given a mic.’ lol

Taka: Well, if we should continue doing such things, we will go bankrupt, you know. But tentatively we wanted to do such things. That reminds me. You called a hypnotic operator for me.

Sato: Oh, yes!

Taka: I told him that I had never hypnotized, and then he called a hypnotic operator. I was really hypnotized.

Taka: It tasted absolutely hot. It was the thing you should never ever do. Well, we’ve experienced so many things together. We may have more things to recall than to talk about.

Sato: (Looking at the documents) This brings back memories.

Taka: Yeah, it really does. It is the photo showing hands used in the PV of ‘C.h.a.o.s.m.y.t.h.’ In those days I wanted to make a song of my close friends, and in its PV I put the photos showing the hands of seven friends of mine in line. Takeru’s hand is the second from the right.

Sato: Is it mine, really?

Taka: Just like mine, his palm has ‘masukake’ line (*the teso in which ‘the knowledge line’ and 'the feeling line’ are integrated. *by steph). I have loads of memories with you, Takeru.

Sato: Exactly. I tell you what. If OOR has lives three days at Yokohama Arena, I’ll go to see all the three days.

Sato: I’ll never get bored. It may depend on the mode of my feelings, but I feel happy without reason. I just want to keep listening to them. Their songs naturally make me feel so.

Taka: And that you’ve memorized all the songs, completely, right?

Sato: I watched your live DVDs.

Taka: And you’ve memorized even my talks in the live.

Sato: And I imitate your talk in karaoke lol.

Taka: And you make me sing including that part lol. Nothing could be more embarrassing!

Sato: That reminds me!! When we made friends, at first, I just made you sing a lot in karaoke lol.

Taka: I thought this guy was really rude, seriously lol. He had a big smile on his face setting the songs (in karaoke) though I said I wouldn’t sing.

Sato: Right. That was the beginning, the very beginning of our friendship.

Taka: He was awful. He did casually what others couldn’t do. Even if I hated it.

Sato: But now I can read Taka’s mood. I can tell when he hates it from when he enjoys singing. I’ve come to know it.

Taka: At first he just made me sing on end.

Sato: Including his talks in the live. I made him not just sing but reproduce the live, saying, ‘Please make it sound like the line in the live’ lol.

Taka: Those are the words that flew out of my mouth during the live, so even I myself don’t know what I said. I don’t watch the live DVD so many times. But Takeru watched all the DVDs, memorized them precisely and found it exciting, so I sang reluctantly, you know. But if I skipped a certain part, he would set the same song again. I thought, ‘Huh!?’ (*forced smile*)

Sato: Then I would say, ‘What are you doing?’

I know it's been a month, but could you think of any other headcanons for that one superhero AU idea I mentioned to you? Like one possibility that occurs to me now is Naekusaba with a super-soldier Mukuro and a Sayaka with sonic-based powers.

First of all, you can ask about any AU always, no matter how long it's been, lol! 😁

Ooh, I think my first thought would be to give Sayaka a sort of Emma Frost-style telepathy and/or light mind control (like the pushers in the movie Push), but sonic powers are also very good. She's got to be either an Emma Frost or a Dinah Lance, right? I'm imagining she used to sing for a supervillain or something, in her early days, but now she's a pop sensation and is able to act in accordance with her own conscience. Her hero stuff is secret, though; Makoto's the only one who knows about it.

Mukuro I can definitely see being a Winter Soldier type. She might be ordered to kidnap Makoto as leverage over Byakuya, and then she falls in love with Makoto while he's in her grasp and disobeys orders for the first time to abscond with him to the criminal underground instead of taking him to whoever gave her the orders. (I'm going to say Fenrir is the group commanding her. Junko will be the "reasonable" alternative.)

Mikan with healing powers, not really a hero or a villain. Just a normal person with powers, getting constantly kidnapped by heroes and villains alike because her powers are really useful in moments of desperation. There's hardly a day where she can make it from work to home without being kidnapped because some anti-hero's best friend got stabbed or something. (Mikan getting scooped up by a random biker underling of Mondo's because Taka is hurt.)

Akane has flexibility/stretchy powers. Anti-hero, sometimes dipping into anti-villain territory because villains sometimes lie to her to get her to help them with stuff. Or they just straight-up pay her money. She runs into Mikan a lot just by being so active in the hero/villain world, but she doesn't actually need healing because she's really resilient, so she stands out as the only one who is explicitly nice to Mikan without needing her. (Maybe one day something does injure Akane and Mikan rushes to her side, insert tearful healing scene.)

I'm thinking Fuyuhiko doesn't have powers but Peko does. Peko can curve projectiles through the air, in addition to her practiced skills with melee weapons. They're villains. Natsumi's still dead (or she's in the Mr.-Freeze's-wife zone of being constantly almost dead) but Sato is alive; she's kind of Mahiru's MJ, in that she's a normal person who doesn't know the hero secret and gets to be endangered by hero stuff so there are stakes. Mahiru and Nagito are saving Sato from stuff all the time.
