I had the lovely opportunity to participate in @tteokdoroki s first collab “Coming this Summer”.

All of the people that have participated are so brilliant, and I can’t wait for y’all to read them!

“6:00…” you muttered to yourself quietly as you continued to rock back and forth on your heels. The summer breeze danced off of the river making your nervousness die just a little. You hadn’t been on a date in months, since your messy break up, and you weren’t sure if a blind date was the best idea, but here you stood waiting patiently for someone you never even met.

Your thoughts raced wildly about what he would look like, his personality, his sense of humor, but all of that stopped when you saw him.

“You been waitin’ long? My name is Taishiro and I believe you may be my date for today.”

His smiled beamed from his face making a blush rise to your cheeks. His blonde hair fell in soft curls framing his round face that made him look like a cherub. His large frame towered over you, but you werent scared, no if anything you wanted to hug him.

“Hello Taishiro, my name is Y/N. Nemuri didn’t tell me anything at all about you, so…” you trailed off scratching your neck. He shifted a little, face dropping just a tad, but then came back with even more sweetness.

“Guess that means I can’t go wrong, right honey?” Taishiro answered, giving you a cute wink. You felt yourself melt a little at the witty response. You gave him a small giggle and nodded your head.

“So Taishiro, what did you have in mind for us?” you asked, genuinely curious at what he had planned for the two of you.

“Well, I am glad you asked. I thought for a long time about what someone would want to do on an awkward blind date,” he stopped to chuckle “so I know I am happiest when I have something sweet,” he smiled at you again “and the only thing I know sweeter than you right now would be ice cream?”

You turned bright red and shook your head at him grinning the entire time. He smiled and motioned for you to follow him.

You two walked for a few blocks chatting easily about your lives. The more he spoke, the more troubled you felt. You could feel yourself having butterflies when he looked at you and that terrified you. This date shouldn’t be this serious, but it was going down that track like a speeding train.

You two entered the shop and ordered. He was a regular and spent a few minutes talking with the owner while you found a nice table outside. You sat out there alone for a few minutes to collect your thoughts while Taishiro waited for your ice cream to be prepared. You planned how you would let him down gently and head home to cry while watching movies the rest of the weekend, but Taishiro had other plans for you two.

“Y/N! Here ya go” he said as he presented you with your ice cream. The two of you kept talking about different topics until it finally landed on a more personal one; your previous love life.

Taishiro confided in you that it was hard for him to date because many people didn’t like how his body often changed. This broke your heart, how could someone hurt such a sweet and funny person? Your heart sank even more at your previous thoughts from that day.

You reluctantly shared your story of your long term partner who cheated on you with a co-worker and how that made you swear off love for a while. He listened intently and commented when appropriate. After you finished your story the two of you sat in silence for a few minutes. You could tell something was on his mind but you werent sure what he would say next.

“That guy is an absolute idiot,” he looked at you with honesty in his beautiful sunflower like irises. “The fact he ever let you go is a crime. If you were my girl, I'd never let you out of my sight.” He chuckled in your direction giving you a small smile, a little blush dusting his chubby cheeks.

You smiled back and thanked him. For the first time in months, you felt like your old self again. You were so comfortable in his company, like you two had been friends your entire life.

Before you knew it the sun had set on your sweet little date and the street lights began to flick on. You looked down at your watch and noticed that you guys had been sitting there talking for almost 4 hours.

“Well Tai, its been such a fun date,” you cleared your throat and shifted in your seat a little, nervous and unsure what to do next. “Here is my phone number, if you want to go on another date I would love to see you again,” you said, giving him a small slip of paper with your number. You stood from your table and began to walk away down the street. You smiled to yourself knowing he would text you soon.

“Uh, Y/N,” Taishiro called out, “can I walk you home? I just want to make sure you get there safely…”

You beamed at his suggestion, feeling even more sure about wanting to see him again.

The two of you walked toward your apartment, fingers brushing a few times. A few blocks from your apartment he slipped his large hand around yours and gave it a small squeeze. Being with Taishiro this evening reminded you of how you should be treated. You deserved to be cherished, and a man you just met made you honestly feel like the most important person in the world.

When you arrived at your door Taishiro leaned down and placed a soft kiss on your cheek before he waved you off. You couldn’t wait for your next date.
