I wonder why Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon are the only ones without Sailor Power Guardians?
In a different timeline, she could have! Diana the Moon Fairy is a scrapped character from the first arc who only shows up in the Materials Collection. She was initially supposed to show up in the ruins of the Moon Kingdom and give exposition, but that role ended up being transferred to the digitized consciousness of Queen Serenity.
Tumblr media
It's been speculated that the concept of Diana was retooled by Naoko Takeuchi and became the Sailor Power Guardians.
Also, I would say that Usagi and Chibiusa have Luna and Diana as their guardians/companions, but Minako has Artemis and Rei has Phobos and Deimos and they both still have Sailor Power Guardians. So idk. Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon already get so much extra stuff I guess it's only fair they don't have Sailor Power Guardians, lol.

In one very specific timeline, Usagi takes Nehellenia into her heart and womb. So she ends up giving birth to twin girls: Chibiusa, aka Sailor Chibi/Neo Moon, and the reborn Nehellenia, aka Sailor Eclipse. The sisters are close to each other, and thanks to Helios being infertile, it's actually from Nehellenia that the Moon line continues.

The Galaxy Cauldron
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The "Galaxy Cauldron" is the most powerful star in the universe, responsible for the cycle of life and death of all things. It is located at the center of the Milky Way galaxy, at the core of Sagittarius Zero Star. It appears at the end of the manga, crystal, and select Sera Myu.
Overview
Everything is created and destroyed within the Galaxy Cauldron - it is the source of all star seeds. All stars and planets start as tiny star seeds within the Cauldron. Star seeds form the core of all life on these heavenly bodies as well with special star seeds being sent to grow alongside them to eventually become their Sailor Guardians. The star seeds which depart from the Cauldron can travel not only through space to their destinations but also through time. When their lives are over, the fragments of these dead stars return to the Galaxy Cauldron and can be witnessed as an endless procession of butterflies.
The Galaxy Cauldron is a sea of possibilities. Every star seed which has, can, and will exist is melted down and indistinguishable within it and long ago everything was once together within the Cauldron's sea. Furthermore, if the future is changed so that a certain star seed will not be born they will continue to exist within the Cauldron as it is the source of possibilities. Those who return to the Cauldron can be reborn later as they continue to exist within it. It creates both light and darkness making not just Sailor Guardians but is also responsible for Chaos and the incarnations of darkness.
In summary, the Galaxy Cauldron is the progenitor and maintainer of the Sailor Moon universe. It is the source of everything within it and it continues to produce new stars and guide dying ones which ensures the cosmos will continue to exist forever. It is responsible for all beings within it and their sources of joy and misery. Without the Cauldron, all that would be left is the void.
Living beings can go inside of the Cauldron but it is very difficult for one to retain their physical form inside and not join with everything else within it. A few have done this though including Guardian Cosmos, Queen Serenity, Usagi, her Sailor Guardians, Chibiusa, and Mamoru.
Manga
The Cauldron first appears in Usagi's dream which Sailor Galaxia uses to lure Usagi to the Cauldron where Chaos awaits. Sailor Moon proceeds to fight her way through the defences of Sagittarius Zero Star and members of Shadow Galactica to reach Galaxia. Soon after Sailor Moon reaches the Cauldron, Sailor Galaxia throws all of the Sailor Crystals she had collected into the Cauldron and Chaos fuses with the Cauldron itself. Chaos intends to usurp the Galaxy Cauldron as the most powerful star and to rule the universe in its stead.
Chibi Chibi tells Usagi the only way to permanently defeat Chaos is to destroy the Cauldron at the same time. This leaves Usagi with a choice: destroy Chaos and the Cauldron, thus ending all war but eventually the universe itself, or preserving the Cauldron but allowing Chaos and conflict to continue. Chibi Chibi tries to convince Sailor Moon that destroying it to end all suffering is the right thing to do, but instead Sailor Moon tells Chibi Chibi to not give up on her future, to always have hope, and that living life was more important even if it comes with hardship. Sailor Moon then threw herself into the Cauldron dragging Chaos down with her, dissolving the dark entity. While doing so, Sailor Moon uses the Lambda Power of the Cosmos Crystal to regenerate the Galaxy Cauldron and the galaxy.
Usagi awoke soon after within the Cauldron and was greeted by her friends. Guardian Cosmos, the guardian of the Cosmos Crystal and resident of the Galaxy Cauldron, was surprised that Usagi and her friends could retain their physical forms. She asked Usagi if she had come to the Cauldron to throw her life into it and start a new star's history, or if she wanted to live as she was. Given the choice, Usagi said that she wanted to live her life no matter how difficult it might be to build a future together. Guardian Cosmos granted their wish, and as they were being pulled away, Usagi asked about Chaos. Guardian Cosmos told them that Guardian Chaos and the Chaos Seed had been dissolved into the Cauldron, but could be born again.

Sailor Moon: Dream - Original vs. Toei Adaptation
Tumblr media
- The Dead Moon Circus arriving on Earth during a solar eclipse is retained.
- The captive Helios astral-projecting to Chibiusa as Pegasus is retained.
- Queen Nehelenia attacking Elysian and plunging it into darkness is retained.
- Queen Nehelenia existing beyond a mirror into the dreamscape and constantly speaking to her living splintered reflection Zirconia who actively runs the Dead Moon Circus is retained.
- PallaPalla swapping Usagi and Chibiusa's ages is adapted in Episode 158.
- The Amazon Trio's psychological traps for the Inner Senshi, primarily the Hall of Mirrors that was used on Rei, is adapted in episode 163 as Zirconia's trap for them during the climax.
- Mamoru falling ill bafflingly doesn't happen until the climax in the anime, with his talk with Helios now being in a dream that transpires in episode 165, the penultimate episode. Between this and the Golden Crystal not being in Mamoru's soul, Mamoru got screwed!
- Queen Nehelenia plunging Tokyo into darkness and nightmares is retained.
- Zirconia lethally turning on the Amazoness Quartet when they fail her is retained.
- Queen Nehelenia's defeat exposing her true form as an ugly old crone is retained.
BONUS:
Tumblr media
Some things that neglected to be adapted in SuperS ended up being adapted in the opening Nehelenia arc of Sailor Stars instead even though it made precious little sense to do so.
- The Outer Senshi's return, including Hotaru's rapid age-up, is included here.
- Sailor Saturn and Sailor Chibi Moon fighting side by side is included here.
- The Sailor Senshi being trapped in illusionary nightmares is included here.
- Queen Nehelenia coveting Mamoru/Endymion is included here, although the motivations differ: in the manga it was because of his connection to the Golden Crystal and its power that she wanted to rule Earth with, while in the anime it's to spite Usagi whom she rabidly hates.
- Most ridiculously of all, every Sailor Senshi and Mamoru joining their powers together is changed from a way to teleport into Elysian to...kill Nehelenia and teleport her soul into a dream where she's a child again and can finally make friends? 'Cause that's what she really wanted the whole time? Yeah, this story arc sucks and it never should have happened.

WARNING: spoilers ahead
I love winx club, but you wanna know what I love more—Sailor Moon. So I just want to take a moment and defend my girl chibiusa here😤 i feel like i see a lot of opinions about her, and want to be that “actually in the manga 🤓” nerd for a second. The 90s anime adaptation of Sailor Moon took some liberties and changed a lot, even if things didn’t necessarily make sense by today’s standards (ESPECIALLY if you watched the dub 💀) , but back to Sailor Chibi moon, is she annoying at times? Yes, she’s portrayed as a literal CHILD. Who else is a child in the timeline? Her mom Usagi/Sailor Moon. But NO ONE seems pressed about her bad behavior or poor choices she makes.
In the future, Chibiusa is the sole heiress, only child, of the Silver Millennium. But for some reason she doesn’t physically or mentally age for 900 years— she’s literally incapable n and no one knows how or why. Given who she is, everyone assumes something is wrong with her and she ends up ridiculed and severely isolated. So much so she’s basically goaded into stealing the legendary silver crystal. Upon taking it her home is literally destroyed and her mom is like encased in crystal.
So her being a child thinks to go back to the past to get sailor Moon to help save her parent and kingdom. She’s alone and terrified. It’s not just “oh boo she fell and her parents didn’t help her up” there’s more to it!
Black lady (a grown up version of chibiusa) is mentally and temperamentally altered by wiseman! And here come people blaming her— a literal child — for not being able to fight off the effects of the villain of this arc??? Agree to disagree with me, but Black lady is NOT a reflection of who chibiusa is as a character and should not be compared to her. She was hypnotized and brainwashed into thinking EVERYTHING and EVERYONE hates her and she needs to show them and kill them.
Now the scene where she falls and her parents tell her to get up on her own— also an altered memory! Wiseman altered it so that it would appear her parents despise her when it didn’t happen that way! It’s not her fault. Hell when she goes back to the palace as Black lady her parents to not acknowledge her as chibiusa and comprehend that their daughter has been fundamentally changed by a means of hypnosis.
I’m also gonna say it: a lot of people don’t understand the arc itself. Chibiusa a WHOLE arc is about GROWTH. Now unlike the anime that utilized her parents to get her out of the brainwashing, the manga uses Sailor Plutos DEATh. Her only friend DIED.
Now the weird tuxedo mask black lady kiss thing was already GROSS, but once again Black Lady is NOT equivalent to chibiusa. She , as Black Lady, was rubbing her power in sailor moon’s face, not sexually kissing him.
There is so much more I could stay on this, but all I gotta say is, if you haven’t seen the manga from the 90s, I heavily recommend that you do because it is so much different and provides a new perspective on what is happening.
Thank you for coming to my Tedtalk

Sailor Moon Characters NHK 2020 Ranking Poll
I posted about the song voting of this poll back in the day but they also asked people's favorite characters in Japan...
I didn't make a post for it because the way they shared the results makes it impossible to be sure of some of the characters' positions because they splitted civilian identities from their guardians selves! So that leaves us with Mercury being #9 and #10, Saturn #7 and #17; Venus as #4, #12 and #31... And since they didn't show how many votes each of these entries got, we can't add them and figure out the true ranking!!!!!! Like, it seems safe to say Uranus is #1, but Mercury would probably go up a few positions? Or maybe not, who knows. I don't have the numbers! Terrible.
All in all it still gives us interesting data, even if not in a perfect way. I mean, we still got over 30 characters, including a bunch of villains! Check it out:

☽ ⋮ ✫ ━ ❛  darkness calls to light, light calls to darkness.
*i am combining both the manga and the musical, le mouvement final, of the scene where sailor cosmos and sailor moon meet for my blog canon. the actual dialogue is mostly the same between both versions ( and as result, i didn't entirely write this scene word for word for the sake of length but know that the entire conversation is 'canon' regardless ). there are, however, major and subtle differences between the two besides that - such as chibiusa being present in the musical, chibi chibi ( sailor cosmos ) coming off as much more broken / emotional, and me liking the scene of cosmos and sailor moon embracing each other a little bit more in the musical so i'm adapting these things. gifs are made myself.
in the desolate future.
a solitary figure flies alone amongst dead stars. another battle has been lost - even more gone under her command. there are times when she's lost, times where she remembers all the suffering of her past. in that fight all those years ago...had she chose the wrong path? ' if i had just annihilated everything...would this suffering had ended? '
akari hesitates, pulling her staff to her chest as she tries not to give into the pain of her memories again. ❛ sailor moon...you will know more despair and loneliness than you have experienced before. but... ’ a dangerous decision is made, her eyes cold and detached as she accepts what must be done to stop this endless destruction. ❛ i can be there. to not only protect and support you but...to help you make the right decision this time. '
thrusting her staff into the air, akari shouts a final command before she leaves this time - and soon, this world. ❛ COSMOS POWER, TRANSFORM! ’
Tumblr media
───────────────────────────────
october 1996, sagittarius zero star.
the road to get here has been hard - witnessing so many of her loved ones die in front of her all over again tore her to pieces. despite the pain and heartbreak, akari remained resolute. ' only act when the time comes. ' she would always remind herself. so she continued to play her part: the innocent, unassuming toddler attached to sailor moon's side until she got sailor moon to where they needed to be.
the galaxy cauldron.
❛ no. ’ chibi chibi finally speaks as her eyes scan over the last three remaining senshi until they finally lock with her her - at least, her own eyes from a past life. ❛ this fighting will not end until the cauldron is destroyed. then, and only then, will we finally know peace. ’ galaxia, who she had killed in her brutal battle alone here, was still barely breathing; her head lifting in confusion as both her and sailor moon stared down at the mysterious child - one who once barely talked outside of saying her own name. now she was standing before them in judgement.
sailor chibi moon, who she had protected from vanishing from time in a moment of sentimental weakness, could be heard from behind her as she processed the 'toddlers' words. ❛ destroy....the cauldron? ’
chibi chibi ignored her. ❛ you are the only who can sailor moon. ’ akari's eyes are determined, unflinching in their fatalistic resolve. she has come to this time for one sole purpose: to make sure the same mistake was not repeated. she had failed so many times in her life... she would not allow herself to fail at this one last mission. ❛ there is no way to end this but to destroy both the cauldron and chaos together. ’
❛ but if i destroy the cauldron.... ’ usagi glances back to where chaos roared from the sea of stars uncertain, lips trembling as she considered what was being asked of her. ❛ no stars would be born... all life would en-’
❛ do you not think i know that! ’ chibi chibi shouted back, her voice cracking with desperation as she pleads, begs, for sailor moon to do the 'right' thing. ❛ but if you don't listen to me...i-if you don't do this then the suffering will never end! and it will all be on your shoulders! even when you die sailor moon, it'll follow you for the rest of time! don't you understand?! ’ how many times has this moment plagued her dreams? how many times had she wished she had done things differently? too many.
there's a notable pause before sailor moon speaks again. chibiusa, a child who shouldn't be taking part in this war, is crying. even galaxia is silent with her head bowed in defeat as all she can do is listen to their back and forth. ❛ as long as new stars are born, this war will never end... ’
❛ there is no other choice. ’ akari can only shake her head in frustration in response to her words. ❛ there is no other way! we must do this to bring peace to the galaxy! do you not want that?! ’ chibi chibi screams, although it's much more like a grief-stricken sob. the toddlers knees collapse and she crashes hard onto the ground, sobbing uncontrollably as the weight of everything comes crumbling down on her all at once: the burden of memories of too many past lives. resentment over fighting alone without her friends. the inheritance of a star seed she never wanted or asked for. the loneliness of her entire existence.
Tumblr media
she has watched so many brutally die year or year while she couldn't. she wanted it all gone - her future. her pain. her life. everything.
suddenly she can feel a small hand on her back, chibiusa's, in an attempt at comfort but akari's too shaken, too distraught, to appreciate the gesture - let alone process being touched by the child that would never be hers. ❛ please. i am begging you! we... i... none of us can live like this anymore. ’ akari's face is streaked with hot, fresh tears and she reaches up to clutch her own heart in pain. ❛ please sailor moon... please destroy the cauldron! ’
❛ chibi chibi...listen to me.’ reluctantly, akari gazes up to see that sailor moon is stumbling back up onto her feet, a newfound determination on her face as she does so. her eyes set on chibi chibi's, hand to her own chest too before she speaks - almost as if she's seeing straight through her. ❛ there will always be light and darkness. battle and hope. life and death. everything will happen again. everything in the universe.’
akari can only look at her, stunned as she talks and another voice joins in. ❛ sailor moon is right...even if our cauldron were to be destroyed, somewhere out there, a new future would be born too right?’ chibi chibi's head snaps up to look up at sailor chibi moon who has risen too, nodding in affirmation before giving her a small, supportive smile.
this small moment of unity doesn't last, quickly interrupted by a scream of horror from usagi. ❛ GALAXIA! ’ sailor moon is reaching out to her enemy that's caused her so much pain and despair to help her but it's too late. the woman's own bracer's had finally turned against her and disintegrated her into nothing; her star seed soon to become more food for an ever-growing chaos.
❛ chibi chibi.’ usagi's voice is trembling when she speaks again and her body slumps to the ground due to mental exhaustion of watching another die before her eyes.
❛ mama!’ chibiusa is quick to rush to her mother's aid, holding onto her shoulders to keep her from falling over in despair completely. chaos is still waiting, yearning for the light, as the two quietly sob together - mother and daughter clutching onto each other in support.
unflinching and stoic, akari simply remains planted where she is; listening attentively as she awaits usagi's choice.
❛ i won't give up.’ is the answer. ❛ i will make a future for everyone. so don't abandon your hope for the future either, okay? ’ tears well up in her younger self's eyes with each word but it's not from despair. when she smiles at her, it is beautiful - an infectious hope for the future radiating off of her despite all akari had witness her endure.
' when....did i stop being like that? when...was the last time i smiled? when...did i lose hope? '
❛ i believe in all of our hopes. and as long as our stars keep shining - we'll be alright. we won't lose.’ sailor moon softly proclaims as she gazes up at the stares above with joy and hope. the tables have now turned between them: usagi's determination versus her now wavering resolve.
❛ i...’ akari looks away, scared and unsure before joining sailor moon in glancing up at the stars. despite the carnage shadow galactia brought to the galaxy, light still twinkled in the far-off distance. there were still new stars waiting to write their own futures. there was still hope. chibi chibi looks down to take in sailor moon one more time, her cheeks flushed red and stained with tears, before finally nodding in acceptance.
❛ thank you, sailor moon.’ she says in a barely heard whisper before a flurry of feathers surround her body and then the child is gone: a woman, clad entirely in white, now stands in her place. sailor cosmos.
there's a small gasp from chibiusa, the young girl staring wide-eyed at the stranger before she looks to her mother for understanding. instead, she finds sailor moon instantly rising back to her feet despite her own exhaustion. as akari talks a small step forward, so does her other self - confusion and awe on her face as they gradually close the distance between each other. akari was visibly older than usagi - taller, paler, and somewhat bonier too. her hair and eyes were different in certain ways, but it didn't matter. the girl knew who she was instantly.
Tumblr media
❛ are you...chibi chibi? ’ sailor moon asks. but akari can also hear the unspoken question on the tip of her tongue: are you...me?
sailor cosmos' answer is in the form of a quiet, simple bow of her head... right before gracefully rushing to be by usagi's side, closing the remaining gap between them. a hand clutches onto sailor moon's arm tightly just as her younger self softly grips her own arm in response.
❛ i am so glad i came here. ’ akari admits through tears, eyes cast down almost as if she were ashamed of herself, ❛ i have spent...too many years thinking back on this moment. regretting over and over that i made the wrong choice - that i did such a terrible thing. but it was not - the choice i made here was not wrong! ’
she exhales, releasing a sigh she's been holding in for nearly three millennia. steadying herself, sailor cosmos smiles for the first time in years as she steels herself for what is to come ❛ yes, that is right.... ’ akari says to usagi through tears of joy before gently taking the younger girl's hand in her own - a moment that feels as if touching her fills her with the strength she had forgotten she had all along.❛ there's no way you could ever lose here. because after all, we are... ’
Tumblr media
together, almost on instinct , their hands raise as one. both of their palms touch as they both supportively gaze into each others eyes. ' sailor guardians. '
' yes, we sailor guardians can start over... again and again! ' akari thinks to herself with a quiet tearful laugh, ' no matter how many times we fall! '
' go on usagi. ' akari's voice is dripping with admiration as she whispers to sailor moon, giving her hand a tender, supportive squeeze. ' you already know what you must do - you've always known. '
the courage to abandon everything. the courage to accept everything. that was the power sailor moon had shown her.
Tumblr media
' i will not run away more. i too, will have the courage to stand on my own - to never surrender! to have the courage of acceptance.'

Top 10 Media that would benefit from spinoffs
After doing my last article, it got me thinking about specific lore I didn't put on the list because most of it is good the way it is, BUT that doesn't mean the lore should not be expanded. Note that there is a difference between a spinoff and a prequel or sequel. A spinoff is a story that takes place in the same universe as the main story of a media, but it is independent from the main story. It is it's own thing with its own unique set of characters with their own arc kind of like Star Wars Rebels, The Bad Batch, Family Matters, Picard and the video game Alien Isolation. Sometimes, they can happen before, during or after the main story, but they are still independent from it. The great thing about them also is that they keep lore alive without breaking it (most of the time) and even if they fail, it's no big deal because the main story still remains intact.
Note that there are spoilers ahead and I will not count media that already has spinoffs like Resident Evil, Jurassic Park, Robocop, Terminator, The Walking Dead, Star Wars, most Marvel media and anything else that has side stories. Anyway, onto the list.
Tumblr media
1- The Brendan Fraser Mummy featuring anyone BUT the O'Connell's - I think the third film should be retconned and reinvented as a spinoff. In fact, I could think of so many spinoff ideas for this series because there are so many mummies to unearth out there and they don't even have to come from Egypt which is pretty cool. While I think the O'Connell family's finished after the second film, you can still do things with Jonathan Carnahan (Evelyn O'Connell's brother), the Medjai or just use new characters entirely. Plus, you can still do it now. I say we go for it! By the way, I know people think the Scorpion King is a spinoff series, but actually, it is a prequel at best and it failed because it had no mummies. And yes, that matters. The franchise is literally called "The Mummy", so it needs to have a mummy.
Tumblr media
2- The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air featuring Hilary and Ashley Banks - I think this series could have benefitted from a spinoff featuring the secondary characters. Specifically, Hilary and Ashley who went on to become roommates in the last episode. The Banks sisters are very underrated as characters as is their dynamic because those few times we did see the two of them together, they played well off each other. Plus, in times where Ashley really needed her, Hilary was a good big sister. I think a spinoff sitcom featuring Hilary and Ashley's new life together while also building up their lives as grown women would have been great to see and maybe, we can still see how it all worked out.
Tumblr media
3- Sailor Moon spinoff featuring Sailor Chibi Moon - I love Sailor Moon, but while I am one of those fans who believe it should have ended with season 3, that doesn't mean the lore should have ended altogether there. I think they had the right idea about making stories where Chibiusa was the focus, but they should have taken the plunge even deeper. I think Sailor Chibi Moon should get her own spinoff series where she is saving the Earth while standing on her own two feet without being in her mother's shadow. I would even age her up a little. Now, hear me out. This is NOT a sequel series, but a spinoff still because it is not featuring the main original cast. This is a secondary character with her own team. It is a new Sailor Moon and a new story which I think still has potential.
Tumblr media
4- Lord of the Rings spinoff exploring the stories of the secondary and tertiary characters and more - Ok, Rings of Power was a dud, but the idea of exploring the stories in this lore is not a bad idea. Did you know that there are entire areas in Middle Earth that mirror Asia, Africa and more? I would love to see a spinoff that explores what was going on in those parts of the world or seeing the tragic story of what happened to the dwarves in the Mines of Moria kind of like how Star Wars did Rogue One. Or a spinoff series telling the story of Gollum and his descent into villainy. With the right team and creators, you can make the LotR lore into a much bigger world.
Tumblr media
5- Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs spinoff featuring only the Dwarfs - Disney was onto something when it gave Aladdin and the Little Mermaid their own spinoff TV series that explored the lore and worlds afterwards. To be honest, I think they should do the same thing with the dwarves of Snow White. After all, the dwarves themselves are heroic, entertaining and beloved by fans. Plus, considering that the story is German, it would be very interesting to make use of German lore. It could be fun and great for kids while also appealing to adults. I mean, look at how great the spinoff media featuring Tinkerbell and the fairies was.
Tumblr media
6- Dead Island spinoff featuring side stories - Like Resident Evil, Silent Hill and many other horror genre games, this franchise would have benefitted from having spinoff media because it did have the good bones to make some. In a zombie outbreak, you can make so many stories featuring random people trying to survive. The only condition here is that it has to happen on an island which within itself is doable because there are many tropical islands. Or perhaps an artificial island like a rig or a secret one with labs. This is one of the greatest franchises and the most it has is one DLC and a franchise we waited too long for. It deserves more.
Tumblr media
7- Dying Light spinoff featuring original side pieces - Like Dead Island, this game had many stories happening in the background, but we didn't get to see them. Also, it only has a DLC and a single sequel. I would love to see more side stories that fill in missing gaps and feature fan favourite secondary characters. Or even new characters we can relate to.
Tumblr media
8- King of the Hill spinoff featuring Luanne's family - King of the Hill is one of the best animated sitcoms that was adult without being dark or mean spirited yet at the same time, funny without being silly or over the top. It also had an amazing cast of characters that grew into their own namely Luanne who eventually married and had a child. Her story is compelling enough as it is as she went from coming from a broken home with abuse, alcoholism and worse, to creating a loving family of her own. She's a survivor who came out on the other side without being broken thanks to extended family. Speaking of which, I admit it would not be the same without the original voice actress (rest her soul), but the character herself is relevant especially because in many ways, Luanne mirrors Hank. I think she and her family would be awesome to see in their own warm hearted and funny sitcom.
Tumblr media
9- Team Fortress 2 spinoff media featuring the Medic - It is no secret that the Medic is quite possibly the very best part of the game. Yet he is also the most sidelined for some reason. I think the Medic deserves his day not just as a member of the team, but in the spotlight in any media frankly. It can be his own comic, his own show, his own movie or even his own game. The Medic has shown time and time again that he is not to be underestimated. I can think of 101 stories to write about him alone though the one that most often comes to mind is a sitcom/action/comedy show about his life after the war as a married man and father.

10- Disney's Tangled the series spinoff featuring Cassandra- While Rapunzel's story is done and over, Cassandra's is not. She went from being a friend, a villain, a secondary heroine to a travelling adventurer. She was not only a good foil to Rapunzel as a sisterly figure, but also a great character in her own right. She is a woman of action with a tomboyish streak, but is open to meeting the right guy (though she won't say it). She is also a strong female character who isn't a Mary Sue or tries to upstage or replace Rapunzel. Not even when she went bad for a while. Cassandra fit neatly into the lore of Disney's Rapunzel and I would love to see where her own independent story goes and maybe, we should. She is a truly unique female character in the lore of Disney as it is as she is not a princess, she was born out of wedlock and it was her own mother who abused and abandoned her.
Anyway, that is my list. What is yours?

Scars of Sailor Moon 90's anime: What if
To be clear, it’s been a while since I’ve seen it and that was when they were dubbed and cut for English speaking kids’ daytime TV so shit might be missing, because the episode wasn’t aired, or remembered wrong because it wasn’t ‘appropriate’ for kids and thus cut in a way to make it 'appropriate'.
Now, is there anyone else who wonders what physical scars the Senshi, Tux and episodic victims might have if magical healing weren't involved? Does anyone else wonder if there might be various civilian group gatherings to show support not only for the Senshi themselves but for those who got attacked and subsequently saved? How they know it's all legit due to the similar scars, because some of them were attacked in a different way for the same thing (the Daimons vs Eudial's gun in S; The Amazon Trio vs The Amazoness Quartet in SS; Regular vs True Starseeds in Stars) and it shows on the people who were brave enough to show off what the baddie of the season had left behind on their bodies. Do the Heroes know about them or not? How would their various scars differ from all the regular victims due to various factors?
Read more to find out my ideas on how they'd look.
For 1st S: the girls and M have port-wine stains from the SilMil of their death wounds. Don't think Jed could've left scars with how he gathered energy but Neph could've left marks on his victims since they personally handled his cursed items. Those transformed by Zoi and Kun might have trace characteristics of their monster forms; and the Black Homing Crystal or their personal Nijizuishou could be tattooed on their body, or a tattoo or scarred outline (bald-spot/different colored fur for Rhett Butler (the cat)) of their 'Great Demon' that is believed they were just born with like port-wine stains because of the 'reset' in the finale, to differentiate between Zoi's and Kun's victims.
In R 1st half, girls and M have extra port-wine stains that look like actual scars but realize they're what they died to, wounds she died with (black where the rose vines restrained her and lichtenburg figures all over and outlining a hand on her throat) in Usa's case, when they remember. And leafed vine patterns on those grabbed by Cardians but Usa's and Mamo's are colored blue and pink respectively since they were drained personally by the reluctant Makai Tree. In R 2nd half, well they were mostly trying to take over locations more than gather energy so... maybe... Black Crystallized skin for those who were actually touched? Or nothing other than mental scars, due to the nature of their origin, and thus a simple outline of the Black Moon on the back of their necks? Dunno. ChibiUsa, at least, could have stretch marks due to being unnaturally aged by Wiseman.
In S, it's the shape of the Pure Heart Crystal literally over their heart where it came out, not the center of the chest as is seen in the anime. So, in the event one of the victims had that rare condition where their heart/organs are reversed that's where it can be seen. And if it came out the back, like what happened with Ami, then that's where it is. One can tell how one 'lost' their Pure Heart, whether it was a Daimon or the Gun, due to the size of the scar. If Daimon then it's the size of a Toonie coin but from the Gun it's the size of a closed fist. Minako's looks doubled because she handled her own Pure Heart and did so manically before collapsing. Haruka and Michiru could either have outlines of their Treasures surrounding their Pure Hearts or it's a detailed scar of their Treasures, no Pure Heart to be seen. Chibi's has a shadowy hand-print surrounding hers due to Mistress9 personally taking it while the scar itself looks gold due to Mamo acting as her life support while it was gone. Usa's looks prismatic, like it's literally embedded in her chest when it's not, due to her Pure Heart being exposed thrice, when the extraction was interrupted, when it succeeded and when she forced it out to save Hotaru.
In SS, the Dream Mirror scar is two closed hand spans across in width and fingertip to heel in height. It's the border of the Mirror and the extra scars that go with them that one can tell whether one was attacked during the Trio's time or the Quartet's. Stylized borders and 'shackles' around the wrists and ankles (blue waves for Fish, red flames for Tiger, gray tornadoes for Hawk) denote which of the Trio attacked while solid colored borders and the colored Stone (yellow for Cere, blue for Palla, green for Jun, red for Ves) on the opposite side of the Mirror scar denote which of the Quartet. Usa's is different in that black Aces make up her Mirror's border and 'shackles' due to Mr. Magic Pierrot being the one to 'attack' her. Not to mention the black lines betraying how it had been shattered and the unknown, probably never to be discovered, damage to her brain/memories/personality due to said shattering, what with dreams being products of our brains and all. Because I'm of the opinion that if one's heart can stop due to your Pure Heart being taken then one can become brain dead if your Dream Mirror is shattered. Why else would Fish be so devastated, because dreams can change and evolve or disappear when or if they are fulfilled, when her Mirror is destroyed? Chibi's Mirror is different in that her border is black but the surface itself is a shiny gold instead of everyone else's silver while the 'stone' looks like Zirconia's winged eye. Mamo's eye, the one Nehelania's piece of Mirror pierced, could be bordered by a gold ring if not making him hetero-chromatic in turning the blue itself gold. Usa could have scars on her legs, soles of her feet, due to traveling through/over vines on her way to rescue her family.
As for Stars, those who didn't have True Starseeds could have a 'tattoo' of that flower that contains said Starseeds at the border of their hairline on their forehead. Only the part that hovered there, not the full thing. And those who did have True Starseeds, that hunk of hair that the flower hovered over has taken on the color of said Starseed and is resistant to dyes or regrowing back the original hair color. Some of the women, and poor Mamo, has to weather the comments on their weird choice of color fad since... well, gold on raven, navy blue on blonde, green on brunette and red on ravenette seems... weird, right? Color your whole head, or at least in a Peek-a-boo style, if you're gonna be dying it such a different color at all, jeez! At least for the others they're close, or complimentary, to their original color, if still weird it's only that space of hair that's been colored a bit differently.

Note
This has been bugging me for YEARS, but are the Sailor Quartet soldiers who existed in the past era of the Silver Millennium when Queen Serenity ruled?
I don't think so, they're pretty clearly meant to be a new era of Senshi who serve Chibiusa. Iirc the Sailor Quartet were meant to stay in hibernation until Chibi Moon was ready for them. Aside from them being prematurely woken up and brainwashed by Nehellenia, they spent all their time sleeping.

My personal rankings of the 90s Sailor Moon seasons. These are my personal thoughts, you don't have to agree. Respectfully, this anime is over twenty goddamn years old, so I will not be tagging spoilers. Without further ado:
1. Sailor Moon S
Tumblr media
This season has the outer senshi in almost every episode! I find Setsuna, Haruka, Michiru, and Hotaru more compelling as individual characters than I do most of the rest of the main cast. Also, there are lesbians! Utena and Anthy were inspired by Haruka and Michiru, and it's obvious in the best way. Though I think Haruka is more similar to Utena in Adolescence of Utena than she is to Utena in the anime proper.
No filler in any sense of the word, every episode is exciting and progresses things beyond the monster of the week formula. The Witches 5 are wonderful mid-tier villains, especially Kaolinite, Eudial, and Mimete (BPD queen). Hotaru is one of my favorites and watching Chibiusa learn to be a senshi is a treat. For all these reasons, this is the season that turned me into a Moonhead (read: made me acquire a new special interest).
2. Sailor Stars
Tumblr media
The Sailor Starlights are better characters than I expected. You can very logically read them as transgender girls. They're girls who have to live as boys for their own safety -- and they transform back into girls, their true selves, in their sailor forms. The Animamates are also entertaining as mid-tier villains. I also adore Sailor Chibi Chibi! She's not much of a character, but she's cute and sweet.
There are a few things dragging this season down, however: the disappearance of "Moonlight Densetsu," no Chibiusa, the outer senshi only appearing every few episodes, and the fact that they spend the first few episodes wrapping up last season's arc for some reason. Also, the Starlights' sailor outfits are hideous. Same with Usagi's eternal fuku, it's over designed to hell. This season also just straight up looks like ass for a significant amount of the episodes. The finale drags a bit and seeing all that death and hardship becomes monotonous. I also wasn't a fan of Uranus and Neptune voluntarily turning evil. They've always been morally gray, but in S their thing was "the (good) ends justify the (ugly, complicated, violent) means, even if we have to be separated from each other." Not "let's turn evil to stay together!" Despite that, it's still probably the best ending to any Sailor Moon season. It was also so exciting to hear "Moonlight Densetsu" at the end of the last episode! I found it to be a virtually perfect ending for the show, despite my earlier criticisms.
3. Sailor Moon
Tumblr media
It's classic. It's simple. It's cute. It's fun! I so adore the introduction episodes for the inner senshi -- and their deaths in the finale are fitting yet sad. The season is very neatly written, not really any loose ends (unless you count the one true filler episode). It's very self-contained, even more so than the other seasons. Naoko intended for this to be all there was to Sailor Moon, and it shows in both good and bad ways. Unfortunately, this season just feels underwhelming compared to S and Stars. There's also one of the two true filler episodes in this season, which brings it down a bit. Also, the Naru-Nephrite romance is just plain uncomfortable. There's a lot to be said about romance in Sailor Moon more generally, but this ain't the post for that. Point being is that Naru is fourteen and Nephrite has got to be at least ten years her senior.
4. Sailor Moon R
Tumblr media
I've felt for a while that this season is weak. I think it's because of the Hell Tree arc -- though I love Ail and An as villains, this arc just feels half-assed at times. It also introduces attacks for the senshi that they don't keep after the conclusion of the arc. As for other weakening factors: I'm not crazy about the Specter Sisters. They're not very entertaining, and so I don't really care about them being redeemed. The finale of this season is also a bit difficult to follow; I found it somewhat convoluted. This season also has the second and last true filler episode.
Contrary to most people's opinions, I love Chibiusa in this season. She's a good complement to Usagi, and her antics are fun. This season also introduces Sailor Pluto, whom I love! I'm so fond of the fact that Luna P has her voice.
5. Sailor Moon SuperS
Tumblr media
Where to begin. Well, first I'll give this season three massive compliments. One, it's by far the best looking season of Sailor Moon. Two, it has the best ending ("Rashiku Ikimasho") next to "Otome no Policy" from Sailor Moon R. Finally, the Amazon Trio are probably my favorite mid-tier villains in the series. They're bitchy, they're friends, they find each other annoying, they clown on each other, they're sore losers, they're all so damn dumb. It's hilarious.
HOWEVER. During the first bit of the season, there's some bizarre sexual overtones. We have these scenes of the trio at a bar, looking at polariods and commenting on women's (and sometimes men's) looks in skeevy ways. There's also the fact that they restrain their victims and look into their dream mirrors against their will while they scream their heads off. The strategy they employ is seduction, and believe me when I say that this isn't subtext. This all makes these episodes an uncomfortable watch.
The treatment of Fish's Eye in particular is concerning. He's a feminine gay man who typically chooses boys (in one episode he tries to seduce an elementary schooler) instead of men. Sailor Moon's treatment of MLM is frankly not great, but the way Fish's Eye is written smacks of homophobia and even transmisogyny at times. "He's a villain!" You say. Sure, but the only non-villain MLM in Sailor Moon is Mamoru (if you count the R movie as canon), who spends the entire series in relationships with girls. It's...uncomfortable.
The mid-tier villains that follow the trio are the Amazon Quartet, who are just straight up boring, save for PallaPalla.
Chibiusa is supposed to be the main character in this season, and she certainly has more spotlight than in S and R, but the writers can't decide if they want her to be the protagonist or if they want her to split that role with Usagi. There's also a lot of episodes that focus solely on her, Usagi, and Mamoru. Which I find terribly boring, because in these episodes the writers lean into Usagi and Chibiusa's similarities and make them virtually the same character...which they're not. Chibiusa ordinarily has a lot of early season 1 Mamoru's snark and wit, but in these episodes those traits disappear. Additionally, Usagi and Chibiusa always transform and attack together, which gets tedious and begins to feel too convenient, even for Sailor Moon.
Chibiusa is also given a love interest in Pegasus, who's actually a 12 year old boy and not an alicorn. Chibiusa is in the lower end of elementary school; she doesn't need a love interest. She's perfectly capable of carrying a season as the protagonist without this. I just find this writing lazy and problematic.
Oh, and the outer senshi are completely absent from this season, which sucks. They're in the manga, though! The idea the anime staff had for this season was to appeal to a younger audience and get back to the basics of Sailor Moon, but this just ain't it. The charm of the first season isn't there. The younger audience bit is also just bizarre when you consider what I discussed about the Amazon Trio earlier. I sense that there was a power struggle behind the scenes between Ikuhara and...someone, idk.

Queen Serenity
Recently, I had a discussion with @sorakazeno about Queen Serenity, who’s the mother of Serena/Usagi from her previous life.
Tumblr media
Sailor Moon (season 1) - Queen Serenity guides Serena/Usagi and explains what happened at the silver millennium.
Sailor Moon R (season 2) - Serenity gives Serena/Usagi her new broch to transform, and the broch is what she uses to transform into Sailor Moon.
Sailor Moon S (season 3) - as Serena and Rini are preventing Amara (Sailor Uranus), Michelle (Sailor Neptune) and Trista (Sailor Trista) from killing Hotaru without knowing the truth… the truth being that Hotaru is under the control of the Death Busters… Queen Serenity shows up to help in helping Serena/Usagi and Rini/CHibiusa in getting through to the outer senshi.
Sailor Moon Super S (season 4) - As Zirconia, talking to the 9 Super Sailor Guardians through their own reflections, is starting to manipulate the 9 Super Sailor Guardians (Moon, Mercury & Uranus, Mars & Neptune, Venus & Pluto and Jupiter & Saturn) with their biggest desires, Queen Serenity shows up and brings the 9 Super Sailor Guardians back to their senses, thus ruining Zirconia’s manipulation attempts and allowing the 9 to resume their mission of saving Super Sailor Mini/Chibi Moon and beat Queen Nehelenia (for now…).
Sailor Moon Sailor Stars (season 5) - In episode 172, Queen Serenity shows up physically and joins the 10 Eternal Sailor Guardians in thawing Queen Nehelenia’s ice-cold heart and rehabilitating her, especially since it was Serenity herself that defeated and banished Queen Nehelenia to the dark side of the moon long ago.
Sailor Moon Cosmos (season 6) - Queen Serenity explains to Serena/Usagi that the eternal powers of her and other 9 Sailor Guardians have deeper meaning and deeper potential than initially thought. Serenity encourages Serena/Usagi to discover the true power and meaning of the eternal forms of her and the other 9 Sailor Guardians.

The 10 Best Sailor Moon Manga Battles
Naoko Takeuchi is a talented writer and artist, but if there's one thing she usually struggles with, it's compelling action sequences. Most battles in the Sailor Moon manga are rushed, with many enemies getting taken down in just one hit. However, there are occasionally exceptions where she turns in something exhilarating, and this post will point them out.
Vs. Kunzite:
Tumblr media
Unlike the previous members of the Shitennou who went down with just one blow, Takeuchi made very certain to vividly display that Kunzite was on a whole other level of power. He is able to deflect everything the Sailor Senshi throw at him, and every dark energy blast is treated as lethal, to the point where he nearly does kill Tuxedo Mask. He leaves undefeated, and in the second clash with him, it takes all of the Senshi's power combined to destroy him:
Tumblr media
And even then it looks like a Herculean effort: look how Takeuchi draws the panel of Kunzite attempting to hold back the attack with his own energy, then the close-up on his eye. It's like in clashing with the Senshi's blast, Kunzite's super-brainwashing is lifted for a split second, causing him to hesitate and thus allow himself to be destroyed. Had that not happened, he still might have stood a chance at deflecting the attack. That's how powerful this guy was!
Vs. Prince Endymion:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No wonder Queen Metalia wanted to get Endymion under her control! When fighting for the dark side, he's a fucking beast! Not only was he able to face all the Sailor Senshi at once and counter against their moves, but in the end defeating him almost cost Sailor Moon her life.
Vs. Esmeraude:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Esmeraude struck twice, and both times were surprisingly intense. The first one was a death trap utilizing the power of her Boule Brothers servants, which slowly and gradually threatened to crush Usagi, Mamoru, Minako and Chibiusa to death. The second one had her as an active combatant using the Death Hands ability she was granted by Wiseman, capable of striking multiple opponents at once and draining them of their life energy. Both times she came frighteningly close to success, stopped only by Future Endymion's interference.
Vs. Black Lady:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now granted, this fight may have been more intense than the usual primarily because the heroes were pulling their punches considering who Black Lady really is. With that said, Black Lady still shows truly impressive power derived from the Malefic Black Crystal, and having a mind-controlled Safir and Prince Demande for backup added to the whole challenge factor.
Vs. Death Phantom:
The final battle of the Black Moon arc is split into three segments. First is a battle against the planet Nemesis (or so it seems) floating above Crystal Tokyo, sending wave upon wave of dark power down as Death Phantom taps into the energy of the Malefic Black Crystal towers that Black Lady has created. Prince Demande also jumps in with his final attack at this point.
Tumblr media
The second phase actually pulls the heroes inside of the Malefic Black Crystal's darkness, where the soul of Death Phantom appears. This is the shortest stage of the battle, basically just a one-on-one clashing of energy between Death Phantom and Sailor Moon which ends up being a trick so that he can warp her (and Mamoru) to the real planet Nemesis' location.
Tumblr media
Finally, there's the showdown against planet Nemesis in space. Death Phantom is pulsating with dark energy that is powerfully depicted, threatening to tear Usagi and Mamoru apart, but Chibiusa comes to the rescue as Sailor Chibi Moon. The two Sailor Moons then blast Nemesis at once, their light energy and Death Phantom's dark energy clashing until his is inevitably extinguished and the whole evil planet explodes. It's a truly spectacular finish.
Tumblr media
Vs. Cyprine:
First of all, she's a level 999 witch, so she's definitely no slouch at magic:
Tumblr media
But the bigger threat is that she pits the Inner and Outer Senshi against each other:
Tumblr media
That's what makes this battle great; it's the climax of a conflict that was building for several chapters now (the Inners vs. the Outers), and it concludes through the unforgettable scene of Sailor Moon creating the Holy Grail and becoming Super Sailor Moon, aka "the Messiah".
Vs. Mistress 9 & Pharaoh 90:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Naoko Takeuchi just went full disaster movie with this one. Tokyo is being threatened with getting torn apart as Pharaoh 90 floods into its streets and begins the process of merging himself with the planet, while up in the air Mistress 9 reveals her true monstrous appearance and fights against the Sailor Senshi with brute force. Even when she's defeated, she then merges with Pharaoh 90 to make him an even more nigh-unstoppable force, and in the end it looks like the only way to defeat him might be to let Sailor Saturn destroy the entire world.
Vs. The Amazoness Quartet:
Tumblr media
This is a pretty straight-forward battle. Sailor Chibi Moon and (the now nerfed for reasons too complicated to get into) Sailor Saturn face off against the Amazoness Quartet in the Dead Moon Circus big-top, with the opponents being evenly matched in terms of skill and ability. The power of Sailor Senshi against the power of trickery and the nightmarish Lemures.
But shame on Sailor Moon Eternal for leaving out the best part:
Tumblr media
Vs. Queen Nehelenia:
Following a disappointing battle inside of a dark mirror, Queen Nehelenia returns in the realm of Elysian and poses a far more spectacular challenge. She's still behind her mirror, but now it seems impenetrable and she is free to launch as much dark energy at her opponents as she desires. Rather than harm them physically, it attacks them psychologically, which proves effective enough to ultimately allow Nehelenia to claim the Silver Crystal and nearly triumph:
Tumblr media
But once Sailor Moon gets a second wind and transforms into Eternal Sailor Moon, she uses the Holy Grail, all of her friends' power, and Mamoru's Golden Crystal to launch an attack combining all of that energy. The mirror shatters and Nehelenia is forced out of it as she starts disintegrating from the attack's power, exposing her true hideous form in the process.
Tumblr media
Vs. Sailor Galaxia & Chaos:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sailor Galaxia attacked Sailor Moon before, and our heroine was rendered powerless and needed Chibi Chibi to bail her out. But now she's finally able to go head to head with her nemesis, the two of them showcasing their full power as they clash. The fight takes them through Shadow Galactica's palace and out to the Galaxy Cauldron, where Chaos gets involved and displays by far the most impressive exertion of dark energy in the series as it threatens to merge with the Cauldron and spread itself across the universe. It's one Hell of a note to end on, and it sticks with you rather seen in the manga or in Sailor Moon Cosmos.
