Shatter Me Series
Tumblr media
I'll start by saying THIS IS MY FAVORITE BOOK SERIES SO FAR!!! I loved every bit of it. From the way the characters had their own traumas and backstories, to them being there for each other all the way to the end, it was absolutely amazing. Aaron Warner Supremacy FOR SURE. Tahereh Mafi did an excellent job at showing the internal/mental struggles Juliette goes through and her dedication to overcoming them.
MC: Juliette Ferrars || Love Interests: Adam Kent & Aaron Warner
Individual Ratings:
Shatter Me: ★★★★★
Destroy Me: ★★★★★
Unravel Me: ★★★★★
Fracture Me: ★★
Ignite Me: ★★★★★ FAVORITE
Restore Me: ★★★★
Shadow Me: ★★★★★
Defy Me: ★★★★★
Reveal Me: ★★★★★
Imagine Me: ★★★★★
Believe Me: ★★★★ Contains more spice than the rest!
Unpopular Opinion: Adam is over-hated.

🦇 Batty About Books' 10 Before the End 🦇
✨ Good afternoon, my beloved bookish bats. I know I'm a bit late in posting this list, but my TBR has been a mess of book club reads, unexpected/last-minute ARC approvals, and random mood reads. As a result, a lot of the books I intended to read this year are unfortunately getting pushed to 2025. There just isn't enough time for all of these amazing, enchanting books (...and a full-time job...and chores).
🌙 Without further ado, here are the 10 books I hope to read before the end of 2024: ✨ A Monsoon Rising - Thea Guanzon 🦇 Not in My Book - Katie Holt ✨ A Shadow in the Ember - Jennifer L Armentrout 🦇 Into the Woods - Jenny Holiday ✨ Unromance - Erin Connor 🦇 Bingsu for Two - Sujin Witherspoon ✨ It's a Love/Skate Relationship - Carli J. Corson 🦇 The Wedding of the Year - Jill Mansell ✨ All My Rage - Sabaa Tahir 🦇 This Woven Kingdom - Tahereh Mafi
❓What are three books you hope to finish before the end of 2024?

hi there! do you read a lot of other romance? if you do, do you have favorites?
Hi!!!
Up until about 4 years ago, I didn't really read romance books because I liked topics that felt "heavy". Medical thrillers, true crime books, science fiction, etc. I did enjoy fantasy / dystopian but it was along the lines of Lord of the Rings, Hunger Games or Harry Potter where the romance wasn't really center stage (though I will say I got sucked into the Twilight series when I was younger).
But after having kids and then when covid happened, the heavy stuff began feeling too heavy and it drove me to feeling too anxious. At that point I began reading almost only romance and according to my Kindle Reading Insights, I've read a total of 665 romance books since 2021.
A few of my favorites outside of SJM are the Shatter Me Series by Tahereh Mafi, Binding and Keeping 13 by Chloe Walsh, Bohemian by Kathryn Nolan, He's Not My Type by Meghan Quinn, Things We Left Behind by Lucy Score, Waking Olivia by Elizabeth O'Roark, Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan, The Beautiful Hearts Duet by Emma Scott, and not quite a HEA but still an amazing read is The Idea of You by Robinne Lee.
There have been so many more I've loved and I have a list somewhere but the above are ones that will always be top reads for me.
I hope you're having a wonderful day so far! ❤️

Okay so now that m done with shatter me book 1
Full book review
1. At first it was very boring and slow but so is every other Sci fi but it was kinda annoying and made me go back to my reading slump
2. The scenes with Aaron Warner some of them werent " it" ya know... like I just didn't like em
3. THE KISS SCENE that was so non consensual it made me uncomfortable and then she kisses him again but the whole scene was just not as amazing as I thought it was tiktok overhyped it there were better scenes in the book than this one
4. Also the fact that later on in the series when Aaron and juliette will be together and they'll look back to their first kiss and Aaron will be like YoU sHoT mE
5. When kenji was properly introduced the whole book was lit from there
6. OMEGA POINT IS AMAZING and I love it
7. I love Adam and juliettes relationship and I'm seriously not looking forward for their break up it will break me
TAHEREH MAFI IS A QUEEN
Overall id give the book an 7/10 ( bcs this book was more background and the real deal hasn't started yet so )

This Woven Kingdom Spoiler Review
Tumblr media
These are my unfiltered thoughts with little to no editing directly copy pasted from my notes. This is a spoiler filled review. There will be a plot summary at the start which will have no spoilers but then the spoiler section will start
Name: This woven kingdom Author: Tahereh Mafi Series: This Woven Kingdom Book 1 Previous Rating: 4.25⭐ Reread Rating: 3.75 ⭐
Plot
Alizeh is a Jinn Queen. Her parents were killed and her home and kingdom was destroyed so she works as a servant in a noble's house and tries to avoid everyones notice (tho that's impossible because she's the main character). Kamran is the crown prince of the kingdom of Ardunia. Something happens and Alizeh's life is in danger the whole book is her trying to get out of it
My thoughts
It's a reread. I really enjoyed it the 1st time so I have high expectations don't remember much but I want to read the 2nd book hence the reread. I really liked Alizeh and Kamran when I first read it and the world was amazing, but the thing that really bothered me this time was that the whole story spans 2-3 days only. The characters feel too strongly about each other given that they literally met 2 days ago
Kamran is literally like 'I love her' on the 2nd day after they meet, Alizeh too!!
Alizeh is really hardworking and she never complains I loved her character in the start but then her HUGE internal monologues made it irritating to read sometimes
As for Kamran, I liked him tho he's just angry for the whole book
I don't think much of him apart from that
The writing is too flowery and descriptive. The whole thing with the apothecarist at the end was so unnecesary!! This book could have been cut in half
I skipped the whole scene of miss huda and didn't feel like i missed a thing
I would've loved this book if the events took place over 2-3 weeks instead of 2-3 days. There would've been more time to build character relationships too
After this I was sceptical wether i should read the next book or not as I read some reviews and they said that barely anything happens in the 2nd book too
But the hype was so huge that i wasn't willing to give up so I decided that ill read the 1st 10% of These Infinite Threads and if i don't like it i won't continue the series
Right now I'm at 15% and the story's moving at a decent pace but if i get fed up of the characters or the plot then I'm going to dnf it immediately without a doubt
Current Read: These Infinite Threads Currently Watching Series: Love Next Door ep 12, Judge From Hell ep 2, No Gain No Love ep 10

Just finished This Woven Kingdom and yeah it was like really hard to go through during the first 50-60% of the book but the latter part got me so excited I literally flew through it!
I love Alizeh so much she's literally the sweetest and the kidest and she looked so cute absolutely massacring those 5 armed mercenaries with her sewing supplies! God I just love her so much! How bad tho is it that I legit saw close to nothing in her romance with Kamran. Like he was going insane thinking about her 24/7 meanwhile Alizeh thought of him like a total of 5 times mostly when she was reminded by other people. Honestly good for her, girl was just trying to stay alive👏👏
Kamran was so funny, not as in "lol he makes funny jokes" but as in "lmao he sucks I love bullying his ass". He's such a nepo baby, like an entitled little ass with major anger issues and a side of mommy issues. Nah but fr he was a bit on the obnoxious side sometimes and it got on my nerves, I say this with love. Unfortunately I've heard he only gets worse, shame I quite liked him. Loved his simping tho fr he was so down bad it was sad to read sometimes. Also absolutely LOVED his interactions with Hazan, had both me on the floor every single time🤣
Cyrus literally appeared so close to the end but I really like his character because he is just SO PETTY🤣🤣🤣 He's just trying to do his job and shit like literally does not want to interact with anyone, I absolutely get him. Also he has red hair and is a dragon owner instantly he goes up on the favorite scale I don't make the rules. No but can't wait to read more about him and Alizeh in These Infinite Threads like I can tell they will give me the true enemies to lovers my heart desires, not whatever Kamran and Alizeh were giving. Their bickering sound hilarious already.
And by far my favourite character os Hazan. I ADORE HIM!!! He is literally so freaking sassy and so very tired of Kamran's shit. Every time he opened his mouth he wiped the floor with Kamren istg it was amazing🤣🤣🤣🤣 AND HE HAS A LOYAL LITTLE FIREFLY ISN'T THAT JUST THE CUTEST!!!! Also his devotion to Alizeh is just so sweet, I was so pleasantly surprised when he was revealed to be Alizeh's childhood friend. I really am hoping he doesn't become a love interest but just stays a loyal besgie through and through to Alizeh (like Kenji and Juliette)
All in all, this book is like an 8.5/10 for me ONLY because it was so hard to get through the first half of the book.
Queen Tahereh Mafi has gone and done it again folks and more people really should talk about this series more!
I'm gonna go read These Infinite Threads now✨️
Edit: I would like to clarify, just because I made it very clear I'm team Cyrus from the start, doesn't mean that I did not find Alizeh and Kamran cute! No they were super adorable actually when they interacted. And Kamran was legitimately down horrendous like boy get up! My only problem was that there were so few interactions between them, that it felt like they just developed these feelings for the image they had constructed of the other in their head. Like they literally had a conversation a total of what 3 times?? (Since the first book takse place in a total of 3 days) It didn't really make sense to me.
Right now I'm chosing to trust the forced proximity with Alizeh and Cyrus, also these two literally can't stand each other's ass already and they've just met so I feel like they're giving more enemies to lovers than Alizeh with Kamran. And since Tahereh Mafi herself said this is an enemies to lover romance, I'm going to trust my instincts

Unravel me (Tahereh Mafi) - MY REVIEW
Tumblr media
⭐️⭐️⭐️.7
“Hell is empty, All the devils are here.”
This book is the second book of the shatter series! And I have so many thoughts about these books, So buckle up❤️
I love love LOVE Adam and Juliette. I don’t hate Aaron anymore, I’m just not 100% about him, But i’m convinced Adam And Juliette were made for each other in another lifetime. Kenji was amazing (as usual) and as well as this, all the characters felt so real!! We got the opportunity to meet Aarons dad (I HATED the mf) but his character kept me guessing as he was unpredictable.
Unravel me had me laughing, crying, screaming and loving ALL IN ONE. I enjoyed the writing, the quotes were beautiful :) I will say, I wish it was Dual POV, So we could see from the other characters POV (IE Kenji and Adam) but I appreciate that we have the novellas.
This book did take a bit to get into, but once it got good, it was hard to put down. Will be continuing the series!!

Alright, I’ve been on this website long enough that I think I’m starting to be viewed as a bot.
I’m not a bot, I swear, I’m the child of shadows for no reason other than the fact that that’s my Ao3. Teenage me thought that was cool, current me agrees, haters can keep hating (there are no haters yet so let’s not make that a thing, yeah?)
you can call me shadow 🙃.
im Indian (south indian, I know Tamil and Hindi and also Spanish), but I’ve never spent more than two months at a time in India. Actually, I spent about 90% of my life in Canada and the US.
My Ao3
my sideblog -> @shadow-the-photographer
My Fandoms:
I tend to drift a lot, and I’m obsessed with everything, so we’re going to split it down the middle.
I’ve forgotten a lot of the books I’ve read, so a lot might not be on the list. Feel free to DM me with arguments, agreements, book recs, or just anything, I love conversation.
Stuff I’ve written/read for:
Percy Jackson and the Olympians (as of July 2024, I’ve only ever written PJO)
Star Wars (sue me, I love the prequels)
Harry Potter
HTTYD
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Big Hero 6
Books I LOVE:
The Inheritance Games (By Jennifer Lynn Barnes, her work is incredible)
Powerless (Lauren Roberts)
Ana Huang and Rina Kent are two authors who never grew out of their Wattpad phase, but their work is pretty good.
Shatter Me (Tahereh Mafi)
Once Upon a Broken Heart (Stephanie Garber)
Caraval (Stephanie Garber, and im scared to finish legendary bc apparently Scarlett and Julian break up?)
(booktok has me on a chokehold)
KOTLC (Shannon Messenger)
A Good Girls Guide to Murder (I read this when I lived in Canada, it’s a trivia point)
The Lunar Chronicles (Marissa Meyer)
The Land of Stories (Chris Colfer, iconic and always connects to good memories)
Warrior Cats (I binge read it in sixth grade and somehow still keep up)
(I’ve read a lot of books, just dm me, idc if you don’t follow me)
Books that I have read, but didn’t exactly enjoy:
the love hypothesis (ali hazelwood)
icebreaker (Hannah Grace, 🤮)
Bridgerton kinda deserves to be on this list, To Sir Philip, With Love specifically.
Rina Kent is on that list above bc her books sound good in summaries, but she writes like an eleven-year-old on fanfiction.net
Twilight (Stephanie Meyer, Edward and Jacob should’ve ditched Bella and run off together, bc that is a story I would pay to see)
Fourth Wing (Rebecca Yarros, it’s good but I wouldn’t want everyone knowing every time I had sex, and violence is a terrible nickname)
Movies/TV Shows I LOVE:
fantastic beasts (10/10)
Every single Deepika Padukone movie ever.
almost every single SRK movie ever
DEADPOOL (convinced me to go to a middle school talent show and do standup comedy)
The Adam Project (walker scobell is iconic)
on that vein, I absolutely LOVE the new PJO series
most things in the MCU (she-hulk was traumatizing)
The AGGGTM series (no comment bc it was amazing)
im always looking for new friends, so just dm me and I will def bother you until you file a lawsuit.

📖 24 Books to Read in 2024 📖
🦇 Good afternoon, my beautiful bookish bats! Last year, over 90% of the books I read were ARCs, which I prioritized (sometimes there's comfort in deadlines). Unfortunately, that meant a TON of books ended up on my TBR, waiting for my attention. In an effort to dig myself out of the hole I've created, I'm using the 24 Books to Read in 2024 challenge to tackle new books coming out this year AND the books I didn't read (but am certainly hoarding) in 2023!
💭 Are there any books you see here that are on your own 24 in 2024 list?
📖 Faebound by Saara El-Arifi 📖 Hearts That Cut by Kika Hatzopoulou 📖 The Fragile Threads of Power by V.E. Schwab 📖 Hana Khan Carries On by Uzma Jalaluddin 📖 Evil Eye by Etaf Rum 📖 Much Ado About Nada by Uzma Jalaluddin 📖 Hope Ablaze by Sarah Mughal Rana 📖 The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty 📖 Your Driver is Waiting by Priya Guns 📖 As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow by Zoulfa Katouh 📖 The Wedding of the Year by Jill Mansell 📖 This Woven Kingdom by Tahereh Mafi 📖 Bunny by Mona Awad 📖 Home Field Advantage by Dahlia Adler 📖 Heavenly Tyrant by Xiran Jay Zhao 📖 Sunshine Nails by Mai Nguyen 📖 She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan 📖 All My Rage by Sabaa Tahir
💜 The amazing @booked.with.allie is cooking up something fun via @loveandlitshop, and I can't wait to take part! Let us know if you’re doing this challenge in the comments!

This Woven Kingdom by Tahereh Mafi
Tumblr media
Book Stats:
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐(4/5)
Spice Rating: ❤️YA❤️
Tropes: Love at First Sight, Knife to Throat, Long Lost Princess
Publisher: Harper Collins
Review:
Alizeh is a long lost Jinn princess just trying to make it to the next day. Serving as a "Snoda"(The lowest class in this society) in a Duchess's home, Alizeh is trying to make a living as well as a seamstress. While out one morning trying to sell her clothing but she gets cornered by a hungry orphan boy. This one interaction leads to Alizeh meeting the prince, and setting in the motion the steps for Alizeh to start to claim her crown, what she was raised to do.
First off, this is written in dual p.o.v. Typically I don't like books with dual p.o.v, but I believe the author uses it very well in this case. While were on it, I think the dual p.o.v. allows for the characterization of the prince. I loved that he had some real depth to him.
The banter and tension? *Chefs Kiss* hats off to the author for perfecting it!
This book is advised as mostly a romance novel. While I do agree, I think it's more of a secondary plot. Not insignificant enough to be viewed as a subplot, but not enough of it to be on a bright red banner on the book. This first book is mostly tension of the fantasy world itself I feel.
I will say though the romance gives me "Rewrite the Stars" from The Greatest Showman vibes.
The plot had me on the edge of my seat, it carries a very adventurous pacing.
Also, the diction is absolutely amazing. I feel analyzing some of these paragraphs would be more beneficial to my English class than some of the other novels we read.
If you are a romantasy girl and you haven't pick this up, your missing out! Go now! The third book just came out so what are you waiting for?
