Three days before Christmas, Tommy decides to try making polenta. The kid who rings him up at the supermarket has gangly limbs, short, messy hair, and thick glasses with dark frames. When his six pack of beer sets off the computer, Tommy dryly offers to get out his ID and the kid rolls his eyes. "You're good." He putters along for a beat before remembering to add, "Sir."

It causes an ache, and Tommy only knew Chris for a couple of months.

T (7:12 PM): I'm sorry about Eddie. How are you holding up?

E (7:14 PM): Are you at home

T (7:24 PM): Yes

Evan shows up at his door incandescently angry, not a matador but the bull. Tommy imagines smoke coming out of his nose every time he breathes. "You're sorry. About Eddie. Eddie."

"Buck-" Evan's flinch is like a needle under his fingernail. "Evan. Of course I'm sorry about... us. That takes quite a few more words, okay? I- I haven't figured out what order to put them in."

"Try."

"Do you really wanna hear it?"

Evan spreads his arms and looks around. "I'm here, aren't I? I didn't come all this way to discuss Eddie. I have friends to talk to about Eddie."

"Are you sure? You keep saying his name."

Evan outright snarls. "What is wrong with you?"

Tommy does not ask if he wants a list.

And meet teacher of Tommy's nephew Buck. Justin is mastermind and real ally to his uncle and favorite teacher

Justin’s favorite person always was his uncle Tommy. The man always made him laugh, spoiled him rotten and never made him feel bad about his bad marks, long rants or constant fidgeting. The man was always a warm and safe place Justin knew he could come to when he had some moments with his parents or just wanted to spend time with the coolest person he knew. But Justin also always hated how lonely his uncle was and the older he grew the more he could see how not ok with it his uncle actually was, no matter how he played opposite in front of his sister.

Justin knows part of the deep loneliness his uncle feels is because of how long he was in closet, not letting himself be real him, to love who he actually wanted and then some man he dated wasn’t best so Justin long ago wanted to help his uncle, but never could met a man he would consider worthy of his cool uncle, but also who was definitely into men. Till he met his new science teacher Mr. Buckley. 

The man conquered Justin with his huge smile, warm eyes and desire to know and help his students and create the environment, where they all can feel happy and respected. Mr. Buckley wanted them all to have a chance to learn at the maximum level of their capabilities and encouraged them not to study for the sake of grades but for the sake of interest in science and study itself. 

He also was the first teacher in all 10 years Justin spent in school who didn’t make any comments about his fidgeting and bad homework, but told him to stay after the lesson week after and asked if he ever was tested for ADHD, and offered Justin to talk to his parents. And that’s how Justin finally found out why he always felt different from others. It’s because he is different. But it’s not a bad thing. 

After that Justin knew he needed this man as his another cool uncle and Mr. Buckey’s ig showed he was definitely into men.

So Justin started working.

What the WIP Wednesday am I doing?

Okay, sooo apparently everyone is doing WIP Wednesday, today. (Okay maybe not the entire internet, but you know, there's a lot of wipsday action, today.) I thought, "Okay. Sure. I can get lost in this crowd. It's a good crowd."

Cause. Well. I don't usually post art in progress. I'm far too anxious a person to do such a thing. It's fine if it's a sketch that's like... finished as a sketch. But in progress? *gulp*

Well, here goes.

This is what I've been working on, usually when I'm supposed to be working on something else:

I did three sketches. One of which I will endeavor to color and make all nice and pretty. I've already determined it's not going to be the first one. The other two are neck-and-neck and it will likely come down to who has fins I like better. Which will it be? Tender snowbaz or playful snowbaz?

(Either way, I'm very determined to give Simon mermay wings. So that's going to happen come hell or... high water... *ahem*)

Honestly, I just really love merpeople. I'm surprised it's taken me this long to attempt this. The very first thing I ever learned to draw as a little bittle babe was a mermaid. (My teachers did not appreciate my dedication to anatomical accuracy the way I did.) Soooo Mermay? Mermay is a THING? Well, twist my arm, guess I have to snowbaz it.

(Oh, and shoutout to another guilty party, the SSCoNE server. They put the idea in my head. OH, and @cutestkilla. For general encouragment. And @hushed-chorus. For general encouragment and writing a gorgeous fic with merman Baz in it. )

From the latest chapter of my mreyder long fic that I haven't updated in a million years:

"Do you think he knows anything?"

Reyes watched as Scott paced back and forth across the breadth of the Pathfinder's quarters on the Tempest, contemplating both the other man's question and the implications of his little…chat, with Tann.

Was it possible Tann knew more than he seemed to about Kadara, and how the Port's change of authority had come about? Maybe, maybe not. Nothing concrete, or he'd've laid out more than hints in an attempt to keep Scott in line. Reyes wasn't sure it mattered, in any case, at least insofar as the Port itself went. Keema was the primary figurehead, and while Reyes retained some modicum of control over the decisions that came their way there was no denying that it was a partnership and a limited one at that. Him in the shadows, her in the light, just as they'd planned, even if power had shifted more into her court than his these days.

"There isn't much he can do even if he did," Reyes replied at length. "And that's a big if." He shifted, lying back on Scott's bed with his hands folded behind his head. "At least not to Kadara. I'm more concerned that he's trying to goad you, if that's what he was even trying to do."

Scott scoffed, glancing over at him and cocking an eyebrow. "Pretty sure he and I have been goading each other since the moment we met."

"True," Reyes conceded. "But I don't think he anticipated then what he knows now -- that you're a bigger influence than he imagined."

"How surprising can that really be, though? He's the one who set me up for what's basically hero-worship, with his little public displays and that hall to my accomplishments. What the fuck did he think would happen?"

"Probably that flattery would work on you, make you…amenable. Grateful, even." A small smile twitched at Reyes's lips. "Maybe he figured you'd be more like Harper -- a good, earnest little soldier."

Scott snorted. "Don't let Cora hear you call her that."

Reyes shrugged, unbothered. "No cause to call her as such now, though I imagine her reputation continues to precede her." His grin widened. "Some might say you've been a bad influence on her, Ryder."

"Hardly," Scott countered, but he was smiling a little now, some of the tension bleeding out of his shoulders. He turned and stalked back towards Reyes and the Charlatan didn't hesitate to shift, spreading his legs to give his partner room to settle between them. "She always had a fire in her. Just… needed some encouragement to let it out."

"And you're nothing if not encouraging, mi amor."

"Exactly!"

Today was indeed a wonderful start to Day 1 of HLAW 2024 so far!! We got little bursts of nostalgia through some very beautiful pieces from the past, as well as some incredible new work!! We hope you keep them coming because Day 1 isn't over yet 🩷🩷 What we have got so far is so amazing and we can't wait to see what you all have in store for us!

Tomorrow is Day 2, and we have two themes ready for it as well!

Our first theme is, of course, flowers! A representation of her maternal home, something she has always had a real fascination for. Remember how she would excitedly show us a moonflower in bloom at night and tell us the meanings of flowers? Many of us practically associate Hana with flowers, spring and new life 🩷🩷🩷

The next theme is Fashion Design! This is a skill that Hana often exhibits for the people she loves. There have been so many instances where we have been treated to her handmade creations, like the black cheongsam that holds so many memories of her grandmother, or the gorgeous red outfit she made for the MC (appropriately titled "Hana's Heart!") or even the lovely blue dress she creates for her fianceé's engagement photoshoot!! This would be a perfect opportunity to explore that skill and how she expresses her emotions for those she loves through it!!

Any content is welcome!! Fanfic, fanart, edits, moodboards, interactive, media, headcanons, screenshots, playlists, meta...even screenshots of your favourite scenes would be great!! Our only requirement is that the content is centered on Hana, and that the depiction of her is positive. You can also send in WIPs in case you don't complete a work!

You can also send in a work on the days following a particular theme - this is no pressure for it to be put up exactly that day! We will also have an extra week for anyone who still needs time 💕 May 4th will be our final official date for entries (to incorporate into our video!) but HLAW will still be open for entries for the rest of the year until the next event!

Hello, Tumblr! It's WIP Wednesday!

I think I'm gonna switch some stuff up because I haven't been getting much interaction with my WIP Wednesday game for a while, which is understandable. After a while of the same things, it isn't as exciting anymore and just gets boring.

So for this week, I'm gonna start a (no pressure) tag game! If you don't like participating in these, you don't have to, and if I tag you and you don't want to, PLEASE feel free to let me know. I don't want to be that annoying moot in your activity every week.

That said, here are the rules.

Starting with the art WIP, I have Silver's ref that I'm working on for To Catch a Hedgehog (as requested by the poll I put out)

And underneath the cut, here's about 500 words from To Catch a Hedgehog (if you don't like sonadow, no need to look under this cut. Ik at least one of the people I tagged isn't too big on it so yeah, no need to read if you're not into it lol)

"Informant. Now, why haven't you moved yet?" 

Sonic: "SO YOU WERE STALKING ME! GO AWAY!" 

Shadow: "I told you, it's not stalking. And I'm trying to save your ass."

Sonic: "After trying to take me out? Nah. I'm good." 

Shadow: "Look, I get it. But if you don't get out of the city, Robotnik is going to fire me and sick somebody else on you, and I doubt they'd be as merciful as I have been." 

Sonic: "Huh... 'have been'... interesting word choice. Okay, I'll bite. Why do you want to save me so bad when it's obviously putting your job at risk? I'm literally the person trying to wake people up and get Butt-nik out of power. Why are you turning on your boss?" 

Shadow didn't respond for a while. Why was he doing this? Sonic was right. He was putting his job, hell, maybe even his life on the line for a random guy. But this random guy was the only person stubborn enough to pull the kind of stunt he did. But if Robotnik wanted him dead so bad, then maybe it was because it was working. 

Besides, while Shadow had a job, it wasn't pleasant. It had never been something he wanted. He remembered wanting to help people, help Maria. He remembered saving up for medical school... before Ivo took out the council. Now he'd ended too many lives with his own hands.

Maria would have hated the person he'd become. He sure did. 

Her face flashed in his mind's eye. Her smile, encouraging. 

He swallowed. Then he typed out his reply.

Shadow: "You're not the only one who's lost people you loved to that monster." 

Sonic didn't reply for a bit. Shadow wasn't sure if he was going to, if that was a good enough reason to listen to him. 

Several minutes later, there was a new reply. 

Sonic: "I guess everyone has. But then why have you gone along with it for so long?" 

Shadow: "In the moment, I guess it beats starving." 

Sonic: "...Yeah, I still don't trust you. How do I know you're not gonna come here and murder me in my sleep anyway?" 

Shadow: "If I were going to do that, I already would have."

Sonic: "Sure... Anyway, is that all? Because I'm hungry and I can smell my roommate making chili." 

Shadow: "No. I want to know how you got those paintings up so fast. And you said you'd seen it when people become completely cybernetic. How?" 

Sonic: "Question numero uno, trade secret. Question numero dos, you don't want to know." 

Shadow: "I work for the government and even I don't know. I didn't even know that could happen." 

Sonic: "Oh, it does. All the time. Not pretty." 

Shadow: "How do you know?"

Sonic: "...Alright, look. I'm gonna set up a more secure account (and probably burn this one). I'll message you on the one condition that you don't tell anyone who I am. We can go from there after I've eaten." 

Shadow: "Fair enough."

WIP Wednesday: Meet my new protagonist

So, in these days leading up to November I've spent some time trying to capture my vague and ephemeral plans for the unnamed horror project I really should settle on a title for one of these days. I still have a ways to go, but I figured it was time to talk a little bit about the poor sap who's going to go through my made-to-order horrors. Well, I say poor sap, but the fact of the matter is that our hero is a bit of a bastard in some respects.

Oscar H. Skerry would never dare to call himself an expert on art, but he will also be dead in the ground before he concedes that anyone on god's green earth knows more about art he likes than he does. From his home in San Franscisco, he has made a modest but sustained success as an art critic, paying the bills by a series of freelance consultant gigs, mostly for "particularly daft multi-millionaires looking to get some art into their portfolios," to quote the man himself.

While he may make a living advising people he has nothing but contempt for make what could be argued to be wise investment decisions, it is far from Oscar's passion. You're unlikely to hear him talk about his true passion unless he deems you to be of considerable intellect or in a position to further his goals, though. It's not a secret, exactly, but Oscar considers it "need-to-know information."

In short, Oscar is captivated by the work of one Tomasz Gildebrant, a reclusive artist who made his name with his unique visual style, other art critics than Oscar has called it "pleasantly unpleasant" or "containing angles and strokes evocative of the nightmare," and an unflinching dedication to his reclusivity that has him placed in the category of "outsider art" because nobody can figure out enough about him to put him anywhere else. Oscar believes himself to be the one to write the definitive, defining work on Gildebrant and form a thesis that'll open the art world's eyes fully to his beloved artist. So far it's not going very well, and Oscar is struggling to even explain why he likes the paintings.

Leaving the topic of Oscar's fascination for more biographical details. Oscar Henry Skerry was born to Linda and Harold Skerry in Rochester, MN on September 12th 1989. Oscar, named after his great-grandfather, had a childhood that was considered normal at the time, but that in retrospect probably contained more bullying than what's healthy. This bullying came to a peak in Oscar's early teens, around the time Oscar realized he was queer. Unfortunately for Oscar's tormentors, he also realized he wasn't going to take it on the chin anymore. Oscar grew into somewhat of a problem child as his many fights and waning interest in academia saw his grades decline.

Art became somewhat of a salvation for young mr. Skerry, as his sympathetic if not somewhat willfully ignorant parents, encouraged him to explore his artistic side as a possible outlet for what they percieved to be baseless aggression. Although Oscar did take to the creation of art, he seemed to rapidly change his mind through high school and towards college. Oscar is tight-lipped on this part of his life, but may be plied to confess that this was the time he saw his first Gildebrant painting, and have since been striving to understand the experience and the feelings this awoke in him.

So that's Oscar in a nutshell. He's not as fleshed out as I want him to be when all of this is done, but then again I'm planning to pants a lot of the finer detail since that worked pretty well with Clockwork Boy. Expect many ask prompts and tag your OC posts about this boy, the target of his obsession, and Mara, his bitchy-but-wise frenemy with benefits.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? Probably Refrain (the unead Eoin one) because I need a lot more cheering on and encouraging, and no one 'wants to be a bother', so... (same with the other WIPs, which is why I try not to post them)

What are your writing strengths? Writing a lot. But not necessarily of any great quality

What are your writing weaknesses? Finishing things? I miss having a cheer-reader XD

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? A nope, with one exception. I mean, if I had to, I would provide a translation right there next to it, because I would never assume people have the same knowledge I do. The only exception was when I wrote Bill speaking in Scots, which is close enough to English and the context made it clear (and things like Johnny repeating the question in English).

What was the first fandom you wrote for? Naruto...

What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to? - hmm, I never posted any Master and Commander stuff, maybe that I guess

What’s your favourite fic you’ve written? How to pick???? The short 'Pale Undeath', or 'Death's Embrace' I think. There was a Tozer/Armitage (Terror) fic I never posted, but I really loved it so much, I just called it 'the button fic'.

Almost all Supernatural, but also some video game fandoms (FF, DA, maybe BG3 soon), MCU, etc. usual suspects.

What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

1. oh so good, oh so fine -- 993 kudos 2. there will be better days -- 846 kudos 3. see things so much clearer -- 621 kudos 4. into the flood again -- 602 kudos 5. side two, track one -- 558 kudos maybe someday we'll break 1000, lol

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Absolutely I do, and would find it rude not to. I know other people have all kinds of reasons they don't respond but I don't have any of those reasons, especially since I'm pathetically grateful every time someone bothers to say they liked something, lol. If anyone's even a tiny bit encouraged to become a repeat reader by the writer responding, I want to encourage that as much as possible. Plus, every once in a while, you can get a dece conversation going in the comments! Find a like-minded fan! That's worth any effort to compose a few sentences of thanks. The only comments I don't respond to are emoji strings or cut-and-paste 'another kudos here' comments, because they're not actually comments. (I appreciate the thought, but... I don't want them.)

What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I have had some beta friends who would argue about this one, lol. I guess the saddest is probably the hollow summer, since the whole plot is kind of hurt/no comfort. I don't believe in a successful boy king, let's say that.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

again, probably depends on how you define 'happy'. glory days is probably the most cheerful; for me, the happy comes better with more experience behind it, so the thirty-third yard would maybe be my personal choice.

Do you get hate on fics?

nope; worst I ever got was some twerp who actually responded to someone else's comment, bitching that I didn't put the right peepee in the right poopyhole. But only one of those, ever, and safely ignored. idk, I don't attract that much.

Do you write smut?

...yes.

Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

only one, and it only sort of counts -- i heard love was blind, which is Cordell Walker/Dean Winchester, but of course the point is that Dean's getting the body of his brother by other means. I like crossovers but I usually want there to be a point beyond 'let's mash these two faves together and see what happens'; I'm more inclined toward doing a whole-universe fusion, e.g. fully placing characters with what you can salvage of their key backstory elements into a universe not their own... which I guess would also count as a crossover, wouldn't it. so I also did that with putting the Winchesters into the Dragon Age 2 plot, in whatever we were before. definitely 'crazier' than the first one here, lol.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I think that's the kind of thing that happens on WattPad. Who cares.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

yes, a few.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I tried; it didn't work. Both people need to be contributing to the writing for it to really count as 'co-written'; nevertheless it's stuck with both author names on ao3 because I don't think there's a way to change that.

What's your all-time favorite ship?

I think from context this should be clear. Although will also forever hold many small candles for the little guys.

What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

the aforementioned "co-written" fic, which was meant to be a huge series. The first fic is finished because I brute-forced my way through it, but there was a full five-season arc we were going to try to get through. Alas. The first one is decent, though, and works as a complete fic on its own: In a Cursed Hour.

What are your writing strengths?

voice, pacing, naturalism; characterization, though that can be argued in a fan-space

What are your writing weaknesses?

plot -- I find it intensely boring. Avoidance of plot then tends to flatten stories into similar non-arcs; I don't mind that, but it's a skill to exercise.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I'll only do Spanish, and that's only because I studied it for eight years. Even then it's usually the wrong choice, unless it's a fully blended multilingual story (which most are not, and in the wrong hands it comes off as absurd); better to convey through the POV character either understanding it or not, and dealing with it in narrative instead of straight dialogue. Although a word or two here or there is nbd, clearly.

Favorite fic you've written?

well, questions, you got me, because I don't believe in favorites. at this moment in terms of writing skill I think the best might be asceticism, but in terms of one that sits in my head and fully just is canon, lol, it might be there will be better days, mentioned above. the only heaven fic I need. I guess that says something.

@sevarix-blogs tagged me for sharing some of a WIP ... and I'd said I'd share for someone else leaving an open tag for the Last Line of a WIP a few days ago and forgot. My WIPs are all a mess. Some are just dialogue, some are cut up scenes that still need to be reorganized. Still, I'll share from three WIPs here for fun.

Still working on the Astarion ate a bear conversation WIP:

Astarion had been hunting for some time, and he returned with the most graceless approach, tripping over a cauldron at Lae’zel’s tent with his arms stretched wide as if he’d been meaning to keep track of his steps. “Stay out of my things, darkling!” Lae’zel shouted, interrupting her conversation where Astarion might have otherwise been ignored. “With pleasure, gith,” Astarion said, laying one hand on his unbeating heart and stretching the other out overhead. “Alright, Astarion?” asked Shadowheart, eyebrows raised. “All the better,” Astarion’s words danced with the cadence of an elf who was far further into his cups than either Étoile or Shadowheart, “that you’re concerned for me, my sweet.” Shadowheart made a noise that was somewhere between a laugh and a groan as she objected. “Don’t misunderstand. I’m only worried that you’d return from your hunt with some contagion. These caves are riddled with stagnation and rot.” “Just like home,” Astarion exaggerated, arms spread wide again, hands flicked skyward. He quickly followed it up with a laugh that had the teensiest hiccough in it, lending to his inebriated air.

I started working on a WIP of Wyll writing poetry with Gale's encouragement for the prompt Modern AU for wyllweek but I psyched myself out so it is also still a WIP. Background Gale x my dragonborn Upton:

Wyll: [stating the obvious as Gale has a pen and notepad] Working on something? Gale: Mm. Well, just another gift for the dragon of my heart, as it were. There's few enough rhymes for bronze that I definitely need to pick up a pen when inspiration strikes. Wyll: How do you decide which gifts are worth giving? Gale: Now there's a telling anxiety if I ever heard one. If there's a possibility your audience is going to be disrespectful of the efforts you make, and your heart on your sleeve, Wyll Ravengard, then they don't deserve you. That said, poetry is as much about the audience and the medium as it is about the quality. I know that whatever I scribble down … Upton appreciates that I was thinking of them. The rest is imagined, I suppose I could talk to them about it — how I consider each syllable, and each revolving turn of phrase, with the hope that I can bring them new joy, that the maze around my heart, no more navigable by my manner of elocution, might be more manageable to them. They are celebrations of our bond, their love, their beauty, but they are also pleas of affection, calls to understanding, expressions of vulnerability. And those are harder to share when you put more of yourself in your writing, or when you can't trust those emotions to be well received — even when they are, the way people can misread intent or metaphor, or latch onto some throwaway sentiment you thought to include — it's hard, to write and to share, not even considering the technicalities and imagination of the hobby. Do you keep a journal? Wyll: No. I read and I can recite some poetry, but … I didn't— I didn't keep a journal while I was backpacking, though maybe I should have. I— I'm not thinking of writing for love, or to share with anyone. Maybe someday, but … The world has such vibrancy in it. I'm not a bard, but I'd think I prefer it through a poet's lens sometimes. Gale: As one should. There's a dreamer in all of us, and poetry has connected people to history, to culture, to themselves and to each other — since time immemorial. You needn't worry about sharing it with anyone, but those connections are always open to you. And it may be a tad hypocritical, having never shared my own work, but I'd love to read your poetry, if you're in need of an audience. Wyll: No, no, no. You don't get out of showing me yours by asking for mine. Not when you have the advantage of experience— Gale: Oooo. That may be the politest way I've been called old, but it still stings [holding his heart] right here. Upton: [sitting on the arm of Gale's chair] Wyll called you old? Gale: [standing so Upton can take up most of the chair's real estate] He said I had the benefit— Wyll: Advantage. Gale: [sitting in Upton's lap] The advantage of experience. Wyll: [in his own defense] In regards to poetry. Upton: [delighted, leaning around Gale so he almost falls over] Are you going to write inexperienced poetry, Wyll?

And I'll share a very little bit of my The Pale Elf vs Cazador fight rewrite WIP:

Astarion: You don't love anything. Cazador: Do you not know the meaning of the word sacrifice? One eats an apple and thinks nothing of it, a fruit made to be consumed. But what of eating a friend, a lover, a son. You were made to be sacrificed, but my love was no less true for my role in your extermination. Astarion: Fuck you. And fuck everything you ever did to me. Cazador: You are my spawn, you are my family, and you came home like a good little apple when it was time for harvest.

While it might just be bad and cheesy I like the idea of Cazador likening Astarion to being worth more to him than nothing only to immediately refute that in the next sentence from his mouth. He should have been a man of twisted love and contradictions imo, not blindly evil.

Thank you for the tag @charlotterhea, and for encouraging me to just ramble about my WIPs even though they might never see the light of day ^^ I'll try to keep it short.

Fandom: Tanz der Vampire (German language musical by Michael Kunze and Jim Steinman) This thing is supposed to be a trilogy. The general thing even has a working title, "They have feelings", taken from a line from the musical that has been cut. So the basis is that vampires have the same feelings as mortals. In part 1, Professor Abronsius and Alfred manage to capture Count Breda von Krolock at the Midnight Ball because for Krolock there's nothing more important than protecting his son Herbert from the hunters. Abronsius brings him to Königsberg and starts "researching" - there are lots of experiments and LOTS of torture and angst and all that stuff you need as a healthy basis for Hurt & Comfort. At some point, Alfred can't stand seeing the torture of a fellow human anymore and decides to rescue Krolock and bring him home. In part 2, back home in Transylvania and a few years on, a young woman called Katharina Abronsius shows up at the Krolocks' doorstep. Breda being Breda with his taste for mortals that has already almost cost him his life falls in love with her despite her relation to the man who tortured him (she's his niece). There are heaps upon heaps of trauma and more torture and angst, but also one of my very favourite OCs I've written myself. I'm so proud of Katharina, and she and Breda are just alkdsjösdjakjdsaslk ♥ He calls her Rina and she's his everything (because of course, yes, they end up together, that's the only reason Rina exists at all) In part 3, the Prof makes a reappearance, but that's all that's there for this part so far in terms of plot. And neither part 1 nor part 2 are in any way close to being finished ^^

Fandom: Les Misérables (a wild mix of Brick and musical, I suppose...) Well, after the barricade disaster, Javert is trying to round up some stray rebels and gets shot a few times. He doesn't manage to jump into the Seine before he's scraped off the street by Marie, a nurse who was on her way home and took him in. Problem is, she's a graverobber by night... But she finds out lots about his past and cruel childhood... At some point, Javert does end up in the Seine, gets pulled out by - you guessed it - Marie, and because we all want to see some suffering, he's as battered and bruised and sick as you can get. Think lots of broken bones, pneumonia, other waterborne diseases, and MISERY. And Marie... she's in love. Now she has to try and save Javert and then maybe teach him how to person and what love is and that he actually deserves kindness and all that... Trauma, angst, and all the other stuff I love is here everywhere, too. Marie is the other OC of mine that I absolutely adore. I've always written OCs, but none have ever felt as good and proper as she and Rina.

And nothing of all this massive indulging in my guilty pleasure that is H&C would ever have happened without @forestthechonkykitty ♥

314,403 which is wild since i’ve only been doing this about a year and a half? i don’t think i wrote that much in college????

Bridgerton 🐝 I’ve thought about writing for other fandoms in the past but nothing quite got a grip on me like Anthony and Kate 😌

i do for the most part, mostly because i appreciate the time people take to write them as usually they’re very encouraging and i love to answer questions or clarify things if needed. anyone who’s commented on a fic of mine ilysm 🥹💜

i dont think i’ve got a fic with an angsty ending, i love a good old happily ever after, buuuut i’d say love came back to me was the angstiest fic over all (lmk if you disagree!)

oh man…. my editor/beta reader will tell you spelling and grammar for SURE but probably also staying focused and motivated as well. if i’m tired of writing i think i don’t do the best i can so sections can suffer and then i’m too lazy to go back and fix it

physically impossible for me as i have little to no other language skills (if you can you’re incredible!) i added some french to lcbtm but that was all google translate lol

I try!! I hope if anyone follows me and has commented and I haven't replied, they know that sometimes I do not know how to express my gratitude and I do try and open my inbox and clean it up but I get in my own head about it. it really means a lot that people take the time to read and especially comment, especially in a time where engagement with organic (not ai) art (and ml fanworks in general) seems to be low.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

no, but I always assume someone's going to haha especially on tbsym

yeah. the kind that involves sex. preferably with emotions involved like some kind of extended sexual metaphor for feelings. an ouroboros of sexuality and emotions.

I don't think I ever have!

I think the lovesquare has me covered on all accounts for everything ever

hmmmm. we'll see how I feel after the hanahaki fic, but "my flower is ephemeral". plot takes it out of me and that one requires it, but I do have a solid, good opening and ending and all that.

16. What are your writing strengths? What are your writing weaknesses?

moving past the urge to say "I would need someone to tell me" in order to not be a wet blanket, the things I tell myself I am good at since people say it often are: my prose is poetic / I write longing very well / someone once said for "hearth" that I wrote first love very well (and someone else said that for tbsym, tender like a bruise is how I think they said it)

weaknesses? personally felt: pacing, dialogue. these are things I can get over I think. and some other wetblanket stuff ajfhsdhfsdhfb like I don’t know if I get the characters right, etc

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I am not sure I have any thoughts about this lmao

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuh south park. lmfao. it was literally more than a decade ago. unless you count the special episode I wrote for a Nickelodeon show before I even knew that fanfic was, and my dad encouraged me to send it to Nick Inc or whatever for suggestion lmfao.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

I think it would probably always be tbsym, even through the flaws.

The start of this week has been nothing short of incredible!! We've recieved such amazing work so far - loads of art, fanfic, edits and even a playlist!! Can't wait to see what else you all have up your sleeve 😍

Happy World Book Day to everyone!! Tomorrow, we will be celebrating Hana's love for books and exploring her tastes in reading! Becoming "well-read" was a skill her mother Lorelai insisted she cultivate, but it soon grew into a passion and in some ways a source of comfort for a lonely young Hana! It allowed her to give free rein to her imagination and conceive new worlds for herself!! So tomorrow we will celebrating Hana and her passion for reading!!

Our other theme this time is AU! The sky is the limit for this one. Imagine any alternative universe (whether just for herself or her with whoever you pair her with) and how Hana will respond to this environment!! Surprise us!

Any content is welcome!! Fanfic, fanart, edits, moodboards, interactive, media, headcanons, screenshots, playlists, meta...even screenshots of your favourite scenes would be great!! Our only requirement is that the content is centered on Hana, and that the depiction of her is positive. You can also send in WIPs in case you don't complete a work!
