And we’re back to Jötunheimr with another Seven Sentence Sunday. Please enjoy this snippet from ITROG ✨

An itch of spite tickled the back of Tyrell’s mind as he glared at the hot stones.

‘I’ll show him just how easy it is to go out by myself. I’ll bring back three, no—FOUR caravans of food. Then, he’ll have to believe that I’m competent enough to lead the clan. If I could do that all on my own, I can command an army of THOUSANDS.’

Slowly, Tyrell pushed his door open more without making a creak, in case his father was still in the chief house. Stealthily sliding through the crack, he crept his way to the front, pulled open the door, and snuck out.

It’s like watching a trainwreck in slow motion. Tyrell is about to get humbled by the elements….and by a giant who can match his spite 😅

A line about Summer Winter:

His cheeks, once rosy with joy and cold winds, blushed a burning anger reciprocated in Tyrell. Like father, like son.

A line about dancing Celebration:

Uproarious cheers and applause caused Tyr to return his own whoops and cheers of victory, a gigantic smile gleaming over his entire face.

A line about characters taking a leap of faith:

Then, with victorious whoops, hollers, and cheers, Tyrell and his team flipped and twisted off the cliff to join the cheering villagers below.

A line about love:

With two bulky hands, he slowly and gently tousled Tyr’s body as a soothing gesture. “Your mother and I love you very much, Tyrell. We don’t blame you, nor should you blame yourself. We wouldn’t have traded anything for the world. For Yggdrasil. Nei, you are strong and wonderful just the way you are.”

A scary line:

Tyrell closed his eyes. He couldn’t remember much about the climb after that, only that his fainting caused his wee hands to let go. He was spared the deafening terror of his father’s scream as his child-self plummeted to Stefan’s catching arms, spared from the ground.

It was….a giant tomato. A HUMONGOUS tomato! By the gods, Tyrell never thought produce could be so large! A hopeful patter returned to his heart as he scanned for more; Dead mice, voles, smaller creatures the likes that Tyrell has never even seen had been littered around the stash. The hunter checked the dead rodents for signs of disease. Nope, still fresh.

Welcome back to the frost for this Seven Sentence Sunday! Here’s a snippet from my current WIP ITROG. Please enjoy~! 💫

With hitching breath, Stefan drudged up to the bed and extended his arm down, his hand brushing over the black fur of Tyrell’s shawl. ‘I remember Noma and I crafting this one for him….to wear when he became fifteen. Oh, Gods….’ He choked back a sob, curling his fingers into the pelt and lifting it from the sheets to throw around his shoulders. Tucking his head through the hole, he pulled the pelt on over his own shawl so he could keep warm…and to comfort himself. To give him hope, and strength, in a dire time.

Another flicker of hope illuminated from the speakstone: “Dad….? Dad?”

More progress has been made on ITROG. The words have been flowing out like Arctic glacier runoff 🏔️✨

Here are seven more sentences to share. As always, this tag is +open to anyone who wants to participate, and no pressure if you’d rather pass. Always happy to share a little snippet 💚✨

Realizing he was still in danger, Tyrell quickly turned, rolled on his front, and scrambled to his feet….nearly tripping over them in the process in his mad dash to the underbrush. Most of the night was a game of evasion, and the giant was just petty enough to give chase. Cat and mouse, giant and human. Though it was like chasing an ant, it was an ant that made off with all of the fire giant’s food, and he was going to get his revenge.

The hunter, now the hunted, had no idea how long he was running and hiding. He kept sprinting, kept dodging, but he couldn’t shake the pursuing beast. The morning sunrise glowed as an aureate sliver over the horizon, barely giving Tyr enough light to maneuver.

✨🌺 Seven-ish Sentence Sunday 🌺✨

Happy Sunday, everyone! 🌺✨

Digging through the gifs, I found one from older Disney named “Gustav The Giant” and I thought, “Ahhhhh THAT’S why it sounded familiar.” My inspiration from Disney continues and spans many years, it would seem…back to the corner recesses of my mind. Thought it was a funny coincidence, to perhaps a subconscious reference.

However, my Gustav looks a tad different than this one 😂

Anywho, here’s seven sentences from the man fire giant himself, Gustav from ITROG ✨

“You FUCKER—!!” The giant man seethed, holding his eye as he stood up quickly. “—I’ve a mind to—OW, FUCK!!” He hit his head on the ceiling and caused a few rocks to rain down, which Tyrell managed to dodge through gasping maneuvers. Rubbing the back of his skull, the fire giant muttered while ducking: “Fuck fuck fuck owwww…..Ohhhhhohoho, you are SOOOOO fucked.”

Tyrell couldn’t see the jötunn’s face twist in maniacal fury—eyes nearly bulging, pupils constricted in rage, eyebrows furrowed, teeth gnashed, and nose curled up and pulling the corner of his lip. No, Tyr was in danger…..and he needed to get the fuck out of there before the giant caught up. Because if Tyrell was caught….he didn’t even want to think of what would happen.

✨🌺 Writing Share and Questionnaire Tag 🌺✨

Hello, everyone! Thank you so much for tagging me! If you’ve done so recently, know that I appreciate you and was probably not alerted (sorry if I missed any!) HOWEVER, I did catch a questionnaire tag here from @willtheweaver ! Thank you for the tag! 💛✨

I’ve written some progress from ITROG, and I’d figure I’ll share a little more of Tyrell’s personality through these questions. Stick around for a story snippet at the end 💫

My questions:

1. What would it take for you to forgive someone who wronged you?

Tyrell: (snorts in a sneer) Hel if I know. Usually if someone crosses me, they’re not comin’ back into my good graces anytime soon.

2. You are given the chance to resurrect someone you loved for 24 hours. Would you do it?

Tyrell: Já, of course I would! Who wouldn’t? Odin’s blessing, I’d keep móðir alive a lot longer if I had the chance.

3. What is the one job you don’t want?

Tyrell: Probably being second in command to a man like Bartok….ugh, nei. Someone with a stick shoved that far up their own ass would be tastin’ tree bark on their tonsils. Nei, þǫkk.

And speaking of Bartok, here is a bonus writing share from ITROG! ✨

On the route to the food storage, Bartok snickered over his shoulder: “What’s wrong with yer sonr? Did he have another faint?”

“That’s none of your business.” Stefan answered curtly.

The warrior whistled through his teeth. “Ah, it’s a shame….you aren’t thinking of enlisting him in the Ursyne Trials, are ya’?”

“Haven’t decided yet.”

“Ya’ can’t be serious, Chief.” Bartok scoffed. “Imagine: Tyrell climbs up Feldin’s Peak, and halfway his heart gives out….”

“…..” Stefan ground his teeth in silent seething.

“…..Or when he has to duck under the icy wake. If the cold isn’t enough to shock his system to shutdown, the faint’ll due him to drown 30 deep until his skin’s the color of a Frost Jötunn—”

“—Enough, Bartok! Must you be so descriptive about my SON?!” The viking chief lashed out. “And keep those Hel-forsaken demons off of your lips before I sew them shut with runic thread.”

A nervous laugh crested Bartok’s voice “My apologies, chief. I don’t mean to rattle you. Only meant to warn….” He shrugged in nonchalance. “…..I’d be rightfully worried, though. These trials are no joke.”

“I know. They’re to train warriors—the strongest to lead the Bear Clan…..” Stefan nodded in conviction. “…..of which my son shows heart.”

Here are seven sentences from my WIP ITROG, which I was able to work on a little this week in between all my meetings and work. I hope you enjoy! 💫

Tyr’s heart was soaring; It was his first trial, one that he trained so hard for since he was a young teen. Yet every year, his father vehemently forbade him from taking part. Even this year, had the young hunter not gone against the chief’s word, he would be stuck either at home or as a begrudging spectator. All the years he couldn’t take part he spent observing each viking, studying Bartok’s victories….or stewing in anger at home over haggis. One act of defiance where his father couldn’t say no—It felt surreal. It felt incredible.

This week, I went with an excerpt from ITROG where Stefan kisses his son Tyrell on the top of his head to comfort him as they both work through the grief of losing Tyr’s mother (and Stefan’s wife). Here it is below:

Stefan pressed his forehead to Tyrell’s, patting his shoulders as a tear rolled down his face and dripped off the tip of his nose. “That’s my boy….”

Tyr scoffed weakly in response. “….I’m no longer a wee boy, Dad.”

“Nei, but you’ll always be my boy, sonr.”

Both Stefan and Tyrell clasped their right hands together and tightened the grip, signifying their unbreakable family bond. Then, leaning forward, the chief planted a small kiss to the top of Tyrell’s head, ruffled his son’s hair with his free hand, and slowly got up to return to the firepit. “Now, rest those achin’ bones before ya’ get old like me.”

If I had names yet for the pirate crew that makes a short appearance in Galidean, I would let them take this one. However, since I've been recently working a little bit on another fantasy WIP called Old Gods, I think I'll give those OCs a go.

The one side of the war:

Alaric: "How come that everytime I need a drink, the stash is always fucked up?"

Fionn: "Alaric... Don't get mad... Ophelia made me do it."

Alaric: "...why does she hate me?"

Meanwhile, the other side of the war:

Ophion: "Philipp! How come that after everyone of our arguments, all the alcohol is gone?"

Philipp: "You know I don't drink, father, it can't have been me."

Gilbert: Down in the barracks, handing out drinks to the soldiers.

Don't know if I'm happy with how that turned out, but the OCs are still fresh and young, they still need a bit of growing time.

I’ve espoused lots of juicy information from my two published works Peter Hart and Your Wish Is My Command, so now it’s time to focus a little more on my current WIP: In The Realm of Giants 🌺✨

1. What is the main lesson of your story? Why did you choose it?

Excellent question! There are a few lessons in ITROG that are highlighted throughout the book:

The lengths family will go to protect each other. A huge theme is family bonds, and how the love and support of the village reflects the Viking’s desire to protect their people.

Taking risks to develop characters and learn lessons. Some of those risks are learned the hard way…for instance, getting abducted by a giant because Tyr foolishly believed if he could get away with stealing once, he would smugly and spitefully do it again. However, if not for the risks and consequences of taking said risks, he would have never explored the area outside of his home and experience the adventure. Equally so, his father wouldn’t have been able to see his son shine on his own without feeling the need to always guard him.

Forgiveness. Not only for Stefan and Tyr or Tyr and Gustav, but also Stefan and Gustav. Learning to forgive mistakes of their ancestors, to see everyone’s different perspectives on the same conflicts, and to achieve mutual understandings.

All of these lessons are very comparable to everyone in one way or another, applied to a more high-fantasy scene to give a sense of excitement and relatability 💛✨

2. What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding?

Norse Mythology, especially centered around Jötunheimr and Yggdrasil. I also sprinkled in some Disney-esque family values and dynamics. ✨

3. What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness or help the reader grow as a person?

Tyrell’s objective changes throughout the novel. A consistent goal is for him to achieve independence in a way that still serves his viking clan—the people he loves. However, his goals take a sharp turn when he finds himself kidnapped by a giant, where his main objective becomes to survive and make it back home in one piece.

What I always want to achieve in my MCs is that there is no “flawless” character—everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, and seeing their vulnerabilities helps make them a more relatable protagonist. Sometimes, it’s the flaw that makes a character unique and stand out, memorable, endearing, or something that a reader roots for the protag to overcome. The more those strengths and weaknesses are explored and utilized in a plot or conflict, the more developed a character is, and overcoming their own weaknesses is something that anyone can relate and cheer for.

4. How many chapters is your story going to have?

5. Is it fan fiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?

Original Work! I posted a variety of fanfiction and Originals, and post the full stories to my Archive Of Our Own account always. I do optional/additional support by providing a digital copy on Amazon Kindle eBooks, but that is only if people want to support me further (I don’t have KoFi or Patreon, as my writing pace varies. It finishes when it finishes 💛)

6. When did you start writing?

I started writing fanfiction in 2009 back on old fanfiction.net. Original writing started in 2014 with the development of Peter Hart.

7. Do you have any words of encouragement for fellow writers of writeblr? What other writers do you follow?

It sounds cheesy, but it’s true: Follow your dreams. Write the book that YOU would want to read, and be your biggest writing fan. I go back to my own books all the time, and because I enjoyed writing them and took the time to develop them, it was just as enjoyable reading-reading them from a casual point of view, and not a technical one. Get your heart out there, because there’s only one of you—one unique brain with wonderful ideas waiting to be actualized. Learning by doing, and remembering what inspired and motivated us to write in the first place—don’t lose that sense of wonder 💫✨

✨🌺 Seven Sentence Sunday 🌺✨

Here are seven sentences from my current WIP ITROG. Enjoy~!

Finally, Tyrell slapped a hand to his father’s mouth as his pupils quivered and locked onto the chief’s. Shaking his head frantically, his eyes pleaded up at Stefan’s icy glare that bore into his skull. That stare softened once he saw just how scared Tyr looked. How terrified. It was unlike any fear he'd seen his son don, even when his own heart threatened to give.

Then, the third voice cut the frigid frost and caused both Ürsyndrs to further pale, as white as the snow around them. Tyrell’s frenetic panic instead dropped to a cold fear, glossed-over pupils fading out any glimmer of hope that he had left.

From In The Realm Of Giants

Sucks. Getting jostled around in a jar isn’t the most comfortable sleeping space. Go figure, right? (Glares up at Tav)

No. I’m an only child. Mom died when I was five, and Dad’s been overprotective of his only son. Heh….probably should’ve listened in hindsight…

Right after Mom died, we were grieving. Dad grieved a long, long time. He was so paranoid he’d lose me too, that he didn’t let me outside our cottage home for a year. I had to really fight hard to show him that I can be worthy of leadership, that I’m okay, and he doesn’t need to smother me. I passed all the trials and he still sees me as this defenseless child. I’m twenty-two now; I don’t need to have him breathing down my neck.

Losing my mother. How Dad sat me down, tears welled in his eyes, choking out that Mom wasn’t coming back. I felt lost…confused….angry. D-damn it….

(Glares up at the giant from inside the jar) I dunno, Tav. What IS my worst nightmare?

(still glaring, words dripping with venomous sarcasm) OH GEE, I DON’T KNOW, GUSTAV. What WOULD I tell you?

I love my dad and my village. Yeah, he can be a bit overbearing at times, but I can see why. I’m a rebellious little shit, and I caused a lot of trouble for him. And the village…I would die to protect my people. Oh Dad, I’m sorry….I hope everyone’s doing alright….

Besides not getting eaten by a giant? I did my trainings to get all my marks. I guess you can call those hobbies….? I passed my archery test for the Mark of the Snake, led a successful pack hunt for my Mark of the Wolf, and passed the fishing trial for my Mark of the Bear

Usually it’s nightmares about getting eaten alive….being abducted by this dumbass didn’t help that—H-HEY! Don’t jostle the jar!! Fucker, you did that on purpose!! I see you snickering!!

(Glaring up at Gustav so intensely the sun couldn’t burn him to the same degree)

G: …..Huh? What? I wasn’t paying attention. 🤷‍♂️
