Experience the Thrills of Inkbound: A Tactical Co-op Adventure
Tumblr media
Inkbound the turn-based tactical action roguelike game game is aiming at Proton for Linux and Steam Deck with Windows PC. Thanks to the team at Shiny Shoe for their ongoing efforts. Currently available on Steam Early Access. Shiny Shoe, the indie crew that brought Monster Train to life, is about to make some changes in Inkbound. This tactical co-op adventure is leveling up big time in April. We're talking the full package, the 1.0 update, and it's also a giant leap forward. But for native support, not really.
...we don't have plans to make a native Linux build. However, the game plays well via Proton.
Just heard back from the folks at Shiny Shoe! They've been crafting Inkbound with Unity 3D, and as they wrap up the Early Access phase, there's a bit of a twist. Instead of rolling out a native build as I was hoping, with its 89% Very Positive reviews, they're putting their energy into Proton support for Linux and Steam Deck. What to expect in the launch? Get ready for a brand-new story. Due to dive deep into an epic quest, facing off against a massive threat that could end it all. Whether you're new to Inkbound or you've been hanging around since day one, this is something you might just enjoy. Now, let’s talks about what's been news since the Early Access release. Mark Cooke, the founder and CEO of Shiny Shoe, is eager to show off the upgrades. We're talking new character classes, fresh worlds to explore, and also loads of tweaks that make everything smoother.

The 1.0 version isn't just about new content. It's a total revamp. There's an epic new questline, "Rise of the Unbound", due to be packed with challenges and items to unlock. And the final showdown? Get ready for a battle that’ll have you on the edge of your seat. For those who like gaming on their couch, great news – full controller support is in v1.0. And for the on-the-go crowd, especially Steam Deck users, you can play both online and offline. Perfect for those times away from home. But wait, there's more! Shiny Shoe isn't just thinking about us English speakers. They're bringing Inkbound to the world with full localization in Chinese, Japanese, German, and French. That means more friends to join in on the fun! The storytelling? Next level. New cut scenes, a revamped story, and fast-paced progression that'll keep you hooked. They've even added full English voice over to make the experience more immersive. And, of course, the Inkbound team's been busy under the hood. They've polished up the text, made quality of life upgrades, and balanced things out based on player feedback. It's all about keeping the challenge fresh and fun for everyone. Since its Early Access launch in May 2023, the team at Shiny Shoe has been all ears, tweaking and enhancing based on what players say. Remember the massive Starship of Terrors update? Yeah, they're that dedicated. Check out the full launch details. So, get ready to dive into a turn-based tactical action roguelike world that’s bigger, bolder, and more exciting. Inkbound 1.0 is more than just an update – it's a whole new experience. Available on Steam Early Access, launching on April 10th, 2024. Playable on Linux via Proton with Windows PC. Also priced at $29.99 USD / £24.99 / 28,99€.

You ever heard the name Baragaki? It's for nasty kids that prick you if you get too close. That's what we called the bad boys where I'm from. Including him. Baragaki no Toshi.

i guess the reason i'm not an anarchist is that i don't think if you get enough people in your community doing mutual aid that one day white supremacy and colonialism are going to poof out of existence. there's a bunch of intermediate steps between those two things, and a lot of them involve large-scale organization, and when it comes to large-scale organization, at some point you're gonna have to do a thing that looks a lot like taking the reins of state power to influence policy.
that necessarily implies some degree of compromise and coalition building and dirty, dirty politics. but i would prefer that people actually do the work of building a better world instead of sitting around in their mutual aid groups going "if only we had a way to organize on a large scale and somehow exert influence government policy! guess this is an unsolvable problem."

❗ALERT 危険 99.99❗
Mario & Luigi: Brothership looks so dope! But it was hard not to think of the MGS alert phase when that specialized Luigi exclamation mark popped up during the trailer... "MariiioooOOOooo..."

Shi WuDu and the Black Water Arc ARE the embodiment of the trolley problem.
If he pulled the lever one way, a stranger and his family dies, if he does nothing, his brother dies. He's responsible for death either way. Act or don't, somebody will die,
Overall, he's not the villain *in the fate changing incident specifically* all he did was pull the lever to switch the track. Sure, he "became the villain" POV wise but the real villain, the broken trolley, was Reverend of empty words.
Using a manipulation and fallacy tactic
"if A doesn't do _____, then I will do *specific harm* to B"
The blame then gets pinned on someone who wasn't ever responsible for the situation and the real criminal gets off without consequence.
Yes, SWD's actions got people klled but all he did was pull a lever, the RoEW trolley did the klling.

Experience A Tactical Action Twist With a Chance to Play Arco
Tumblr media
Arco Demo for the tactical action game is now available to play on Linux via Proton with Windows PC. Thanks to the creative team of Franek, Max Cahill, Bibiki, and Fáyer. Now available to try on Steam. Arco, a new tactical action title, and the developers have just released a demo. It's very playable on Linux via Proton, and it's worth playing, especially if you're into RPGs with a twist. First off, the demo itself is a great sample of what the launch has in store. You get to step into the shoes of Itzae, one of the four main characters in the full version. Each of these characters has their unique scenario, adding heaps of replay value. This includes a tutorial to get you up to speed, and a portion of the campaign to immerse you in the world. As well as a mysterious dungeon to explore. But wait, there's more! The Arco demo also features an Arena mode. This is where you can dive deep into the combat mechanics of the game. It's a playground to test different strategies, customize your character, and get a feel for how battles will take place. This is particularly unique since the game boasts a “simultaneous turn-based” combat system. As a result, you have to plan your moves smartly and anticipate your opponent's actions.
Arco: A Closer Look at Gameplay in the Demo
youtube
Speaking of the team behind the Arco demo, it's an international dream team. Including the talents of Franek Nowotniak from Poland, bringing pixel art to life. Max Cahill from Australia weaving the gameplay. José Ramón "Bibiki" García from Spain creating a deep soundscape. And of course Antonio "Fáyer" Uribe from Mexico, an industry pro. This blend of global creativity really shines in every aspect of gameplay. Due to release on Steam later this year, taking you on a journey through a stunning world filled with forests, plains, and deserts. Your mission? To take down the Red Company gang. As you progress, you'll encounter different warriors, colonizers, and creatures. Each step is a chance to shape your story, which unfolds through the outlooks of four distinct heroes. What makes the Arco demo stand out is its emphasis on strategy. You’re not just hacking and slashing your way through; you're thinking, planning, and adapting. On top of that, you're unlocking new skills, recruiting allies, and gathering resources. The story is engaging, offering a tale full of danger and excitement that unravels in a beautifully crafted world. So, if you're looking for something fresh and engaging in the RPG arena, definitely give the Arco demo a try. It's a glimpse into a tactical action game that promises to be both challenging and captivating. I'm looking forward to seeing the full Linux launch later this year! Currently playable via Proton with the Windows PC build on Steam.

i see a lot of people planning their dark urge characters to always be merciless and never resisting the urges which is still very cool as it’s own thing
but i really like the idea of the dark urge being very charming and unassuming (a bard maybe) that does all the right things to charm their party and the people they save but behind the scenes satisfies the need for violence and then eventually when everyone trusts each other they betray them in the most hurtful way

Ok I know The Bad Kids are teenagers and I know the players are improvising and under a ridiculously tight schedule but idk the themes just weren't coming together for me. I think if we had like 1 more hour of narrative and 1 less hour of combat between ep 18-20, a lot could've been reckoned with before/during the final battle.
I know The Bad Kids did what needed to be done with the time and knowledge that they had but, knowing that The Rat Grinders (minus klck lol) were violently possessed by rage, I just wish there were other options. Maybe Fig's psychic meddling with Ruben could've triggered his sense of justice for Lucy. Maybe the shards of Cassandra could've been used to call to the old Ankarna. Maybe Fig's belief in the original Ankarna could've caused lapses in the rage crystals the way that Bakur flickered back and forth between his pit fiend and high elf forms. Like Justice can take so many forms and I just wish there was more of a throughline of rehabilitation over penalization.
And I feel like the stark contrast of Ankarna talking to The Bad Kids individually after the battle really underlines the issue. Yes, the hammer of justice falling on those who do harm is sometimes necessary, but it cannot be the only option. And the fact that Ankarna felt useless as the goddess of justice if she couldn't kill for her followers made me so fucking sad.
I loved the therapuetic scenes of The Bad Kids addressing their families and facing the ways they've been wronged and have maybe even caused harm. I just wish the Rat Grinders who were groomed, murdered, possessed, and murdered again had had the same chance instead of just being unceremoniously revivified as a narrative afterthought.

So with the DA4 release sometime in autumn and the prior games being like over a decade old + my memory is shit to even know any DA lore at all now I think it's time to replay the games.
Back then, teenager me picked up the Dragon Age series at DA2 so I think I'll go at it with Origins now. :3
