It SERIOUSLY doesn’t get any more authentic than this! Travel down to Long Wharf Drive in New Haven, CT right on the waterfront you will find what they call ‘Food Truck Paradise.’ Described as a laid-back collection of food trucks serving Latin America eats from Mexico, Puerto Rico & Cuba. ALL SO YUMMY! 😋 my friend and I tried a bunch from a few trucks (as we jogged quickly from truck to truck bc it was pretty cold that day! ❄️⛄️) but the tacos were PHENOMENAL. Each truck has a bit of their own flair, particular taste - and most serve hot sauces and pickled vegetables on the ordering stand which are fun to add to the tacos. My fav to try from each were the shrimp tacos - but you seriously can’t go wrong. Sooooo this is a bit of a repost, but I never actually gave this spot a review! @mexicue at their DC spot on 14th street. Went with a couple good friends, sat at the bar and ordered these fish tacos. The bartenders were really standoffish and didn’t say hello to us for the first 15-20 min. My friend got so angry she didn’t even order food. I tried to be nice as possible as the bartending ladies did seem in a pretty “pissy” mood. They eventually lightened up. As for the tacos, eh pretty good. Oh, hey @maryannspc ! Cute little authentic mom and pop-esk restaurant in Port Chester, NY. Stopped in before seeing a movie at the local AMC theatre, and it was a treat! $3 tacos and $5 margs on hh. The marg was kinda sweet, but can’t beat the price! Tacos were tiny but tasty - tried the steak and fish. Always gotta spice it up with some hot sauce 😋 this other dish is what they call ‘Relleno de Jalapeño’ with sautéd jalapeños, baby shrimp, onions, mushrooms and scallions baked with tomatillo sauce & jack cheese - a bit greasy but was a nice change up! The interior of this place is colorful and modest - almost looks hand painted, self put together movie set(?) and gotta love the cactus pillars on the wall 😜 super friendly staff doe and a large bar to sit at inside. Who knew diners can have great fish tacos?! 🤷🏻‍♀️ Mr. Joey B hooked me up at his Cos Cob CT diner (they have a food truck, too! 😊) with these delicious blackened cod fish tacos complete with three soft tortilla shells, lettuce, freshly made pico de gallo and super yummy chipotle sauce 🤤 super large portion for around $9. Also had a side of their baller buffalo cauliflower bites and blue cheese - you can get plain too if you so desire but seems boring in my opinion! 😜 the diner itself is super quaint and cute with a small bar to sit at. Yummy yummy in my tummy! Stopped by @gringostaco the other night with my soccer teammates to get some post-game tacos - and these babies hit the spot! Two “Tuna Tar-Tacos” with #1 ahi tuna, avocado puree, mango salsa, sesame seeds, spicy mayo, scallions, microgreens served on a crispy wonton shell - $12. You can get a lettuce wrap instead of shell, but that’s kinda lame in my opinion! 😉 + Two “Buffalo Soldier” tacos with tempura jumbo shrimp, gringo’s buffalo sauce, carrot celery slaw, ranch crema (VEG Option: tempura cauliflower!) for $10. Seriously always craving the fish tacos from @hudsonhalljc - they have some ABSOLUTE BALLER brussel sprouts too! 😎 name of taco dish is ‘REEL BIG FISH’ mmm with fried cod, secret sauce, lettuce and tomato - but of course I get extra spicy mayo on the side - and they also hook me up with an ENTIRE BOTTLE OF SRIACHA, THANK YOU I LOVE YOU! 🙏🏼 Joe and the entire staff are all super chill, the hall itself is spacious yet cozy with dark wood interior and they have two separate bars - they also have a billiard table if you’re into pool! Got a side of cauliflower with it too - which was yum. $13 for 3 fish tacos served on corn tortillas with a side of homemade potato chips on lunch menu. @tacodumbo I’m gonna admit, the presentation could improve and they could definitely have less waste (put two tacos in one cardboard container without plastic and have a larger paper cup for the hot sauce) BUT THE FREAKIN TRUFFLE MUSHROOM TACO IS THE BEE KNEE’S, MAN. 🐝 seriously so so good. The new “fish” taco is basically a small slice of salmon with some lettuce and bread crumbs on top - you can skip that. But really always love this place. To pick up a taco or two for about $5 each isn’t too bad in my opinion. V v content at @lacontentanyc in Lower East Side. They also have their Oeste (West) location in Greenwich Village. This one is smaller than the West location, so I recommend making a reservation. We had the guac tradicional with mashed avocados, pico de gallo, served with tortilla chips. SO GEWD! 🥑 + heavenly fish tacos with tempura catfish (yay!), avocado sauce, cole slaw, chipotle aioli. Seriously out of this world and then a side of brussel sprouts that were a very decent sized portion. Per most of my reviews, this place too has some stellar homemade hot sauce ya gotta ask for.
