Mexican with an Asian flair 😏 and these pics don’t even do justice! @vidaverdenyc SERIOUSLY THE BEST shrimp 🍤 quesadilla in NYC (there are a few close runners up 👉🏼 *cough cough* @babyboscantina @tacombi & Tacos Times Square (don’t think they have an IG?) but anyway, this quesadilla is a MUST TRY, dude! 😎 I’m telling you. It’s made with the most delicious grilled shrimp, chihuahua cheese, avocado salsa, & micro cilantro. 🙌🏼🔥 As far as the Asian flair goes, we had the delectable sushi 🍣 tacos with a hard-shell wonton tortilla, sashimi tuna, jalapeño crema, & ginger-mango pico de Gallo (out of this 🌎!) + the blistered shishito peppers with aged cotija cheese, roasted corn, charred onions & chipotle sauce. All so yum! My friend and I came on a Sat afternoon and sat at the bar as there was a long wait. This was a couple months ago and the place was PACKED! Kinda like total party status - you had to yell to the bartenders to even order. If you come, I def recommend making a reservation beforehand. Also be prepared as it’s a bit pricier being near Times Square. Oh helloooo three delicious tacos and cod cakes from @boxcarcantina ! 👋🏼😜 Opened in 1994 - they feature “Northern New Mexican cuisine” different from “South-west/Tex-Mex food,” (being a different heritage with different cooking style) they describe it as a blend of the three cultures—Native American, Spanish and Anglo-European. I guess that’s where the cod cakes come in! Lol. 😝Everything was v yum - 3 soft tacos came with pork, chicken and beef (+ cheese and side of rice and beans)! You can also see they love their taco shell bowls, haha - that cod cake dip was good. This place was BUSY when I came with my friend a couple months ago. We sat at the bar to avoid the wait. Was a cute cozy little bar off to the one side of the restaurant. There were def a lot of kids/families dining and pretty loud in the place just as a heads-up. Whyyyyyyyy are the fish tacos @elparadorcafe so gewd, doe?!?!? *already salivating* 🤤 whenever the city reopens here is def on my list of places to revisit! 🙌🏼 It’s the “oldest Mexican restaurant in NYC” est. in 1959 - check out the video at the bottom of their website!! They’ve won Open Table and Trip Advisor awards, the New York Times voted them for best ceviche, the New York Press voted them for best margs 🔥 their staff is super amiable; the atmosphere is dimly lit, romantic (perfect for a date night!) with soothing Spanish music playing. It SERIOUSLY doesn’t get any more authentic than this! Travel down to Long Wharf Drive in New Haven, CT right on the waterfront you will find what they call ‘Food Truck Paradise.’ Described as a laid-back collection of food trucks serving Latin America eats from Mexico, Puerto Rico & Cuba. ALL SO YUMMY! 😋 my friend and I tried a bunch from a few trucks (as we jogged quickly from truck to truck bc it was pretty cold that day! ❄️⛄️) but the tacos were PHENOMENAL. Each truck has a bit of their own flair, particular taste - and most serve hot sauces and pickled vegetables on the ordering stand which are fun to add to the tacos. My fav to try from each were the shrimp tacos - but you seriously can’t go wrong. Sooooo this is a bit of a repost, but I never actually gave this spot a review! @mexicue at their DC spot on 14th street. Went with a couple good friends, sat at the bar and ordered these fish tacos. The bartenders were really standoffish and didn’t say hello to us for the first 15-20 min. My friend got so angry she didn’t even order food. I tried to be nice as possible as the bartending ladies did seem in a pretty “pissy” mood. They eventually lightened up. As for the tacos, eh pretty good. @los_molcajetes_ct isssss SO YUM! If you’re not familiar with Spanish, molcajetes means “mortar and pestle.” The implication of the name meaning the food is handmade and authentic 🙌🏼❤️💃🏻 we started with the chips, very delicious limey guac🥑, and their three homemade hot sauces/dips. I really liked the cabbage one they brought out! 😋 we also had two of their (WARNING❗️) superrrrr strong $6 margs (you may want to drink with a straw 😜) for the main course we tried the steak quesadilla, veggie quesadilla, shrimp tacos and shrimp tostada. I think the veggie quesadilla and shrimp tostada were the best out of all. My friend said it may be the best veggie quesadilla he’s ever had! And he’s vegetarian. The inside of the place def shows it’s authenticity as it is very quaint and you can literally see the staff carefully prepping the food in the back behind the cash register. The staff do speak minimal English but are all very friendly. 1 thing they could change is that it was FREEZING ⛄️❄️ inside when we ate. Heat, up, por favor?!? Got a side of cauliflower with it too - which was yum. $13 for 3 fish tacos served on corn tortillas with a side of homemade potato chips on lunch menu. Took a taco tour in downtown Washington DC with some friends, and out of the three spots we hit I think I loved the tacos at @taqueria_nacional the most! 🤗 videoed here are the fish, cauliflower, steak, and butternut squash with kale! They have specials listed on the chalk board at the location (which the two veggie tacos were on). So delicious! The restaurant set up allows you to place your order, add as many additional toppings as you like (yay, spicy! 🌶🙌🏼) check out and grab a table. Love that you can choose your own toppings! 🤗 they even have margs if you so desire - I thought it was a tad sweet, doe. Staff is super friendly - had a beautiful mural on the wall. @bartacolife fo life, mayn. Kinda almost reminds me of a “Pottery Barn Taco Spot” or a more chill, taco version of Red Lobster. Either way, super cute spot with the friendliest staff EVA. The tacos - with their three yummy hot sauces (which they sell!) - are ON POINT 👈🏼 we had the baja fish, carne asada, brussel sprout, miso cod and the tuna tatako.
