MADE IT IN TIME FOR AKASHI'S BDAY

Decided to do a redraw of an old piece of art from 2016. It's actually pretty crazy to see the difference in skill since I had no knowledge of art techniques back then. I'm glad 8 years later I could finally do big bro Oreshi and baby bro Bokushi some justice. Happy bday to my beautiful princes. The OG art from 2016 is under the cut! ❤️💛🏀👑

Derailing project of the moment, Project "Nephew's Birthday Gift" is... Technically done. Added side seams, because he's turning four, and pockets, because cool rocks exist.

I also kept the promise of it not taking up much space. It's about the size of a T-shirt, and I'm so very very tempted to just... Buy a T-shirt and play an innocent prank on the birthday boy.

And then the fiber craft demons struck, in the shape of a very charming man in the open air museum doing a demonstration with five dozen cards and sewing thread on a +5m inkle loom, and I decided nephew needs a knighty belt. Because that's what kindergartners care about: handmade decorative techniques that were available to people in the era. It's definitely not just that he wants a dress-up outfit to boink his brother on the butt with a toy sword in.

The sleeve is almost done!! Between seaming up the strips and getting them to sit right it was a challenge but we're very happy with how they turned out.

It is interesting how the strips hang in different positions. But just a few more tacks and attaching ties it'll be done!

While Snip was working on his sleeve, I was busy tablet weaving my version of Rainbow Road.

Does this clash with the rest of the costume? Yes. Is cordage like this out of season for Landsknechts? Yup. But does it make my little punk heart happy- absolutely. Obsessed with the underside (middle photo) looking like rainbow vans. I started with a 4/4 forward back, but it wasn't the vibe I was going for so swapped to a 12/12 instead. Like the languid stripiness of it. Got about a yard weaved and got another yard and a half to go, so wish me luck!
