Write a small bit about Ash and Misty arguing at the store; they only have it in their budget for one box of snacks, and they can't decide on what to buy.
Misty looks up from the grocery list on her Rotom Phone to find Ash jogging over to her. A small box rests in his hands, and based on the stupid grin on his face, it's that new stupid snack food being advertised everywhere.
She waits until he reaches out, hands over the shopping cart, before speaking. "Rejected. Put it back."
Ash's face quickly morphs into shock. "Wha -- why?"
"I've already grabbed a snack." Misty holds up the package of seaweed crackers. "We can only get one."
Ash blinks, looking from the crackers to the box in his hands. Then, he takes the crackers, places them on the shelf beside them, and drops the box into the cart.
A vein throbs on Misty's temple as Ash smirks. She reaches out and swaps the positions of each item. Pikachu, sitting in the cart's seat, giggles, his tail waggling.
"Stop that!" Ash reaches for his snack again but Misty swats his hand away.
"You've been eating too much crap lately," she says. "You need to start eating healthier."
"Those crackers are like eating cardboard!" Ash whines, bringing back memories of his ten-year-old self begging Brock for another helping of stew. "I can't eat that!"
"You can, and you will." Misty maneuvers the cart around him and continues down the aisle. She hears Ash sigh and knows he's giving the snack box one last longing look before dejectedly following.
"Why," he asks. "Do we always seem to have enough money for what you want?"
"Remind yourself which one of us is a Gym Leader with a steady income before you ask that."
"I'm a Champion, Mist."
"A broke Champion. I told you not to invest in PoryCoin."
"Everyone else was doing it..."

Syk's Snippets #11
This is actually really long for a snippet, but as always with these snippets, I just kinda typed and went with it without thinking too much about the direction. Hope you like.
It was common knowledge that all Pokémon Centers locked and barricaded their doors late at night. Every trainer worth their salt knew this. Safety for the visitors and injured Pokémon inside was a top priority, and as such no one was allowed in or out, save for the gravest of emergencies.
Which meant that if someone found themselves unable to sleep, and didn't want to stay in their room, the main lobby was their only real alternative.
Misty sat curled on the unreasonably soft sofa stationed along the wall, pulling her knees to her chest with one arm as her free hand grazed Pikachu's fur. Even as Ash and Brock found themselves lost through the forests of Dreamland, Pikachu was always willing to join Misty in her occasional bouts of insomnia. His company was always appreciated; rare were sleepless nights something she wanted to go through alone.
"How's this, Pikachu?"
Her fingernails pressed firmer against the tiny nook hidden behind Pikachu's ear, and the small mouse mewled in response. "Piii-ka."
Misty giggled, and as she admired his yellow fur a strange inclination overtook her. "Oh, I have an idea. Be right back, Pikachu, wait here."
With as much silence as she could manage she rose to her feet, delicately bounding her way back to her room. Only a minute creak accompanied the door opening as she peered inside, seeing if her companions were magically awoken by the tiny sound. As expected, they hardly stirred from their slumber, and she took that as her cue to tip-toe inside.
It only took her mere moments to reach for her bag, digging inside until she found her hairbrush. Cinching it back closed, she turned to the door to make her exit, but her feet rooted to the spot as her gaze landed on Ash. He lay on his side, his arm out stretched to where Pikachu had previously been before escaping to join her. His lips moved almost imperceptibly as he breathed in and out; his bangs, soon in need of a trim, fanned across his forehead.
Misty, not having to hide from his gaze, smiled as she savored the warmth rising in her cheeks. She would've remained longer if not for the mental reminder that Pikachu was waiting for her, and with some hesitation she eased out of the room, making her way back to the lobby.
Pikachu perked up as she returned, his ear flicking curiously as his eyes landed on the brush. Misty nestled herself back into her original spot, using her free hand to pat at her legs. "Sit here, Pikachu."
Without missing a beat the small Pokémon followed her orders, perching himself atop her thighs. With a gentle touch Misty slowly began dragging the brush through his fur, and she giggled as she felt his weight relax into her. "I thought you'd like having your fur brushed."
"Cha..."
His voice petered out as she continued to stroke, finding the motion cathartic against the many thoughts blitzing through her mind. Her erratic feelings, the inability to sleep that had suddenly taken over for the past few nights, and, of course, the recent day's events.
One event in particular.
It was the standard fare Team Rocket situation; a trap is set, the group is caught by it, and eventually Team Rocket is sent blasting off again. It was so routine at this point that she'd practically begun mentally scheduling it into her day. She never knew when it was going to happen, but it would. It always did.
What didn't always happen was Ash kissing her cheek.
Team Rocket's flavor of the day was a net trap; as luck would have it, only Ash and Misty had succumbed to it, while Brock had been able to avoid its capture and thus play a vital role in their rescue. As the ropes pulled the two upwards, Misty found herself atop Ash, slumped together in the bundled-up net, and conveniently, Ash's mouth was pressed right against her cheek.
Given their specific position, she had no real leverage to move herself away. All she could do was encourage Brock as he fought for their freedom, decidedly ignoring Ash's exhales and the way his lips moved against her face as he tried mumbling his own cheers.
Admittedly, part of her had half a mind to turn her head to face him, just so the lip-to-lip contact would shut him up.
For the rest of the day, Ash had been uncharacteristically quiet. Normally the two of them would've been able to squeeze in a few arguments between their Team Rocket encounter and their arrival at the Pokémon Center, but he silently held his gaze forward. Even Pikachu's occasional comments didn't crack through Ash's tight-lipped persona. She'd known him long enough to read him and guess what was on his mind, but silence was rare for him, and with it came perplexity.
It was fairly late when they arrived at the Pokémon Center, enough that it was already bedtime when Nurse Joy greeted them. Ash had mumbled out the usual nightly rituals; "I'm gonna shower" and "Good night" managed to escape him, but that was all she'd managed to get. He didn't appear angry or upset at all; if not for his silence, she wouldn't have even imagined him to be bothered by anything.
"Did Ash tell you why he was so quiet today, Pikachu?"
The question came out almost as an afterthought she'd opted to speak aloud; her voice was quiet, her eyes not even leaving the speck on the wall she'd been fixated on. She continued to brush Pikachu's fur, mulling over the question and doubting he'd have an answer for her.
Predictably, Pikachu shook his head, leaving Misty to lean hers back until it touched the wall. The clock hanging above her serenated the lobby with its ticks and tocks, its metronomic rhythm a soothing accompaniment to her brush gliding through Pikachu's fur. She unconsciously began recalling the moments in the net in time to the clock, each moment snapshotting into a still image captioned with questions and commentary.
His lips first touching her cheek. Was he conscious of the fact that he was kissing her?
His lips gliding along her cheek as he failed all attempts at coherent speech. Did they tingle the way her cheek had?
His lips when they, so very briefly, seemed to pucker against her. Was that intentional?
Tick.
Tock.
She rewound the scene, memorizing the way the sun would occasional peek through the net and his cap, the smell of nylon from the rope and the way it dug into her skin, the small crick in her neck from trying to peer at the battle. Every facet of their capture was preserved in mental amber, a gleaming memory that brought warmth to her face and coerced her heart into starting a little game of hopscotch.
"Pikachu pi?"
Pikachu's voice pulled her from her musings, and it was only then that she realized she'd stopped brushing his fur. "Oh, sorry, Pikachu." She attempted to resume tending to him, but Pikachu suddenly leapt from her embrace, and before she could question him he bounded away from the couch.
"Hey, where are you-"
Her one-question interrogation died in her throat as Pikachu immediately leapt up onto Ash's shoulders. The boy was meandering down the hall towards her, wearing his trademark bedhead and a matching set of dreary eyes. As his gaze found hers his eyes lost some of their drowsiness, his lips pouting the slightest bit. "Whatcha doin' out here, Misty?"
"Oh, um, nothing really. I just couldn't sleep."
She couldn't tell if he look unconvinced or if he still hadn't fully returned from Dreamland, but nonetheless he settled himself into the cushion beside her. His hip pressed against hers, and the small touch brought back the warmth to her cheeks that their previous net incident had instilled.
"Is everything okay?"
It would've been easy to say no, and to chide him for bothering her when he should've been sleeping, but the knowing look in Pikachu's eyes held her tongue in place. She ping ponged the pros and cons of talking about it with him; maybe he'd have been conscious of what happened as well, and maybe she wouldn't feel so alone about it. At the same time, given Ash's proclivity for never picking up on romance, she might be making herself look stupid by seeming presumptuous or hopeful, whichever was less embarrassing.
"Piiika."
The gentle ire in Pikachu's voice caught both their attention. His eyes sharpened for a moment before softening, offering Misty a cheeky grin. "Pika pika."
Ash turned back to face Misty, his eyebrows knitted. She knew the subject would be impossible to ignore now, and she leaned back against the couch with a small sigh. Her fingertips played together as she tried grasping at a coherent thought that she could put into a sentence.
"You know, it's been a while since Team Rocket tried using a net to catch us."
The mention of their archenemies clearly wasn't what Ash had anticipated, turning his body towards her and cocking his head. "Yeah, it's usually some weird gadget or weird disguises or something."
Misty nodded. "And today, I didn't expect it to be just us two in the net."
"It's a good thing Brock didn't get caught. We'd have been in big trouble without him."
"Yeah, Team Rocket might've actually won for once."
"Nah, no way, I bet we'd have found a way out, no problem."
"...I'm still thinking about how close we were."
Ash blinked. "I mean, yeah, that's usually what happens when you're stuck in a net."
She should have expected that implication wasn't Ash's strong suit, but she wished she didn't essentially need him to overtly spell it out for him. "I'm talking about where your mouth was, Ash. It was kind of like...you were kissing me."
She'd already been prepared for Ash's inevitable confusion and fluster, but seeing Pikachu's eyes narrow gleefully towards the boy was a sign of camaraderie she wasn't ready for. In that moment, more than becoming overrun with nerves, she sound herself wondering what Ash would say or do when mental density was no longer an option for him.
His thumbs had already begun spinning around each other, his eyes downcast and his bottom lip tucked between his teeth. "Well, it wasn't really a kiss, right?"
"It felt like one to me. Your lips were on my face."
This emboldened fire had burned away all of her anxieties; all of her worries about their feelings, the status of their friendship, all of it was lost to the embers. As if to emphasize her point, she touched her finger to the spot where the kiss had happened, and this was enough to finally add a spattering of pink to his cheeks that the late night couldn't hide.
"I-I mean, yeah, sure, but...it's not like I want that to count as a kiss or anything."
And almost instantly the flames were doused, her stomach hollowing out immediately. She hadn't explicitly expressed her modest crush on him yet, so it wasn't as if he knew what his words had done to her. Even Pikachu's expression was a cross between anguish and frustration, eyeing his trainer for any sign of it being a joke.
Ash, however, remained silent, and it was a silence that was making the heartbeat pounding in Misty's ears far too loud for her. "O-oh. Okay. Right."
Tick.
Tock.
She watched his fingers dig into the cloth of his jeans, and she felt the bite of anger bubbling within her. He was the one who decided to ruin what could've been a wonderful moment; he had no right to feel frustrated, to feel the same way she did.
How could he possibly feel the same way she did?
Hiding watery eyes was easy; all she had to do was look away, pretend she was getting tired; stifling a yawn, nothing out of the ordinary for the time of night. Hiding the sob, the shaky inhale of air, on the other hand, was much more difficult to conceal, especially when their ambience consisted of the tick and tock echoing through the lobby. Still, Misty endured; she was a tough girl, she could manage.
She heard Ash rise from his seat, and she was almost grateful for his decision to leave her to her tears. She knew she was overthinking things; this didn't mean he didn't like her, and it didn't mean she had to give up on her feelings for him. Still, even the notion that he didn't want to kiss her was enough to pierce at her heart. She would need a few moments to patch the wound.
"Hey, Misty?"
She made a small sound to let him know she'd heard him. She had no faith in her ability to talk without letting her vocal chords shake, without being able to relax her tightened throat. He didn't immediately reply to her, so he was clearly trying to draw her attention and gaze, but she couldn't bring herself to offer either.
"Pikachu pi."
Pikachu, on the other hand, was a different story. He always had her best interest at heart; how often had he taken her side over Ash's? With a hard swallow and a deep inhale she turned to the duo, surprised to find Ash's gaze aimed at the hallway. His cheeks had come to match her hair, his hands sheepishly shoved into his pockets as Pikachu glanced at him with a knowing smirk.
"I...I just meant that, y'know...if..." Nervous stutters were foreign to Ash, and Misty felt a pilot light begin to glimmer in her chest; sparks began searching for something flammable again. "If I ever kissed you, I wouldn't want it to be an accident, or part of one of Team Rocket's traps. That's why I don't count it."
And with that, with Pikachu on his shoulder, Ash turned and headed back towards their room; it was just as well, since Misty found herself unable to conjure up a reply to his words. She watched the pair as they made their way down the wall; watched Ash's back and wondering if he'd turn to look at her one last time. However, he continued facing forward until reaching the door to their room; at that point, the hallway was too dark to make out his expression before they entered, the soft thud of the door closing quietly reverberating through the center.
The ticks and tocks wormed into her mind again, and the way she'd recalled the day's memory in time with their rhythm began its repeat performance. Her tear-stained cheeks felt on fire as she thought about the half-hidden sun, the nylon rope, the crick in her neck, and the realization that Ash had been aware of the exact situation they'd been in. She took a deep breath, wiping at her face and replacing her former wobbly lips with a small grin.
Maybe Ash wasn't so bad with implication after all.

Don't worry, @myberrylove, I got you with the fanfic. (Fun fact, this is the second time I've written a fanfic based off of ya-chan's art, so this is a treat for me.)
The hand holding? Ash could get used to that. The smiles that were now underscored by rosy cheeks? No problem. The little whispers that the rest of the world would never be privy to, filled with words that scattered the Butterfree in his stomach in all directions? He could handle those in his sleep.
Kissing? Entirely different beast.
He'd managed to smooth-talk his way out of it enough times; "I'm not ready," "Don't you think it should be more romantic," or "I think Pikachu needs help eating all that ketchup"; the stereotypical deflection. To his credit, it was true that deep down, he felt ill-prepared for his first real kiss. However, deeper still was, in fact, the absolutely unbridled desire to completely disregard that cowardice and finally touch his lips to hers.
The problem was that her eyes were so. Incredibly. Gorgeous.
Green and blue swirled together in the prettiest whirlpool in her eyes. He'd stared her down hundreds of times throughout their journey, and practically imprinted their hue into his brain. That said, love had a funny way of taking the iris and giving it a shine and a warmth that made it a gaze-magnet for the one responsible for instilling that love.
As it turned out, Misty always gave him the look whenever she was expecting a kiss, and it was one that turned his legs (and brain cells) into jelly. Nerves went haywire and his heart began to beat like it wanted to escape his chest and go on its own journey. Battles and frantic situations had made him feel the same way in the past, but never with this intensity.
This time, though, he had a plan. Was it perfect? Hardly. Was Misty going to be equal parts angry and confused? Probably. Would he still manage to get a kiss in? Assuming nothing went wrong, more than likely.
Sort of.
He gave her hand a little squeeze as they walked, earning her attention. He offered her a grin, some semblance of a distraction from the monotonous pathway they walked along. The corners of her eyes crinkled and her lips curved to match his, gripping his fingers with equal affection.
It would've made for a perfect snapshot of intimacy, had they not forgotten they weren't alone.
"Pika pikaaa."
Resting atop Ash's shoulder, the teasing tone of Pikachu's small cry didn't go unnoticed, sending molten blood to the couple's faces. His voice caught Brock's attention, who turned around from his position of leading the group to smirk at them.
"Anything going on over here?"
"Nope, nothing at all, just walking. Right, Ash?"
"Yep, just walking, totally normal."
Their remarks did little to assuage Brock's cheeky expression, though it softened the slightest as he gestured towards the map. "It looks like there's a small stream coming up soon. We should stop there and take a break."
The prospect of lunch and a chance to rest their weary feet was enough for the couple to spur their pace. For Ash, however, it was also a chance to follow through with his plan; Brock would be tending to the food, and Pikachu, who was already in on Ash's idea, would allow the two some privacy.
The stream eventually came into view, and the group automatically tended to their usual jobs. Brock began preparing his ingredients, while Ash and Misty were in charge of acquiring clean water and anything else they might be able to scavenge from the clearing. In his elation he blitzed through scouring the area, and upon determining there was nothing useful for their travels, he waltzed over to Misty, who held a small pail underneath the stream.
"Hey, so, uh, Misty, could you come help me carry some stuff I found? Over there?"
Could he be any more obvious?
"I'm gonna carry this water back to Brock." She hefted the small bucket up, her eyes darting around the site. "Could Pikachu help you?"
"He's, y'know...searching the area to see if any dangerous Pokémon are around. I just need your help super quick."
She raised an eyebrow at him, pursing her lips. "Can I at least take this back over?"
Ash fidgeted with his hat, trying to quell his inner impatience by reminding himself that, oh yeah, he loved this girl, so he wouldn't dare snap at her. "Come on, it'll be really fast."
Misty rolled her eyes, but immediately lowered the water to the floor before offering both a smile and her hand. "This isn't you trying to be lazy again, right?"
"Nope, promise." He took her hand in his; it was soaked and slightly cool to the touch, but still soft all the same. With her in tow he weaved his way through some trees until he was certain they were out of sight and earshot from Brock.
He took a breath. He could do this.
"Hey, Mist?"
Ash was nothing if not tactful with that nickname; he'd only used it a small handful of times at this point, and he only did so when he was genuinely and sincerely trying to be romantic. It had a way of completely disarming Misty and softening the look in her eyes; he could practically see her heart skip a beat behind her gaze. Her thumb began to graze against his, a tender grin spreading across her face.
"Yeah, Ash?"
His free hand touched the back of his neck, acutely aware of the tiny hairs there standing on end. "Um...I know that whenever you try to kiss me, I get too freaked out, and so we haven't done it yet, but I was hoping I could try, I dunno, practicing?"
A small, sympathetic snort escaped her, though he sensed no teasing or malice behind it. Instead, a rosiness had bloomed on her cheeks as she took a tiny step closer to him. "I really do want to kiss you, too. If you want to practice, I'd like that. I haven't kissed anyone before, so I don't really know what I'm doing, either."
Ash nodded, giving her hand another gentle squeeze that she, like a reflex, returned. He bit his lip, torn between becoming absorbed by her gaze and avoiding it for the sake of his sanity. His breaths became shuddery as he began inching his face closer to hers.
He expected her to close her eyes; all of his limited experience with kissing led him to believe that people closed them before a kiss. Yet, Misty's gaze held firm, and that familiar twisting of his stomach returned. He swallowed, feeling his foot twitch; an impulsive attempt at stepping back.
As if by magic, Misty seemed to sense this, giving his hand another squeeze. "You can do it, Ash."
How often had he heard those very words from her in all his battles? Familiarity wafted through his mind, the manic thoughts slowing down and his anxiety faltering. "I never thought trying to kiss someone would feel this scary."
Misty huffed playfully, resting her free hand on his face. "Then here, let me help." And before she could allow him to process her words she leaned forward and pressed her mouth against his other cheek.
Ash hadn't expected the sensation to be so soft or warm; her gentle exhale skimmed along his skin as she held her spot, though he heard the slightest smacking of lips as she pulled away. Her face's rosiness had evolved into a fiery red, though that did nothing to dissuade her from grinning like crazy.
"See, not that hard."
Ash chuckled; it was all he could do to keep his composure despite his elation and disbelief surging through every vein in his body. "Your face matches your hair."
"Your face looks like someone dumped red paint all over it."
He felt no compulsion to correct her; after all, considering how hot the air around him felt, she was probably right. Her gaze had gotten so soft; and yet, it served as an anchor for him. Despite the crazy emotions coursing through him, her viridian eyes kept him grounded, kept him reminded that she was the same Misty no matter what happened. Even if he somehow chickened out again, she'd love him and wait for him with a patience he'd never expected from her.
He followed her lead by resting his fingertips on her cheek; he could feel the heat radiating from them even with such a small touch. Almost instinctively she leaned her face against them, eventually resting her cheek into his palm.
"Your turn."
Right. His turn.
Why did her eyes have to be so. Insanely. Pretty?
He could just close his eyes like a normal person, but what if he missed? Misty probably wouldn't laugh at him (too hard), but he really did want his first kiss with her to be special. That was the whole point of this practice, to get over the nerves. If only he didn't have to see her eyes-
The quick thinking that had guided him during his countless battles came to him, as did the immediate thought of Misty, please don't get mad.
...then again, he'd dealt with angry Misty before, so he would probably live. Probably.
Wordlessly he pulled his cap from his head, admiring the quick blip of confusion in Misty's eyes before he planted the hat on her head.
"Ash! What are you-"
She didn't have to look at him, which made it infinitely easier to press a kiss against her cap-covered forehead.
He put enough pressure that he knew she felt it, and the small hitch in her breath matched the flutter in his chest. Sure, it wasn't really anything crazy, but here he was, kissing Misty. He almost couldn't believe he'd managed to push through every anxiety-wrought nerve in his body, but Misty lifting the bill of the cap to peer at him from underneath it became his main point of interest.
His heart couldn't decide between stopping and skipping when she smiled at him.
"I hope that wasn't too tough for you."
Ash pursed his lips and shrugged. "Don't worry, I'll only get better at it."
Misty leaned forward and kissed his cheek again; the corner of her mouth grazed the corner of his, and his heart yo-yo'd down into his stomach, ricocheting up into his throat before wobbling back into his chest.
"You better."
"I will, prom-"
"Ash, Misty, where are you guys, lunch is almost ready!"
Brock's voice carried itself through the air and trees, shattering the ending to their romantic moment. Misty cocked her head back towards the campsite. "Come on, let's go eat before Brock wonders what we were up to."
"Good idea, I'm starving." Ash reached over to grab his hat, but Misty held it down against her head, sticking her tongue out at him.
"I think I'll keep on wearing this until you can finally kiss me, Ash."
"Hey, that's not fair! Misty, wait up!"
The two beelined towards their friend, the accompanying meal, and a return to their normal routine. In their heads, however, a million daydreams were playing; Ash contemplating how he could find the sweetest way to get his hat back, and Misty wondering if she'd still be wearing it by the end of the day.
Deep down, she hoped not.
The drawing was supposed to be part of the pokeshipping week… I didn't have time to publish it, unfortunately. Yes, I know, the kiss on the hat theme isn't new, but it seemed nice to draw it.
Small proposal for those who like to write something, write a short dialogue or a mini story inspired by this drawing (in English, Spanish or Italian). Tag me and I will insert the link under the drawing. I'm always happy to read something about pokeshipping.

What are some of your favorite Pokeshipping fics?
Isn’t it great when Tumblr’s tagging system actually works well
This is my absolute favourite Pokeshipping fanfic. It’s incomplete/abandoned but that doesn’t take away the beauty of it.
I have not read new Pokeshipping fanfics in years now if I’m being honest, but there are a few fics hat I’ve loved since I was a kid.
Seven Deadly Sins by Bittersweet Romanticide
The sequel to the previous fic, Seven Heavenly Virtues.
Sexual Tension by d i n o b o t.
Sweet Home Pallet by Virgo Writer.
Maiden of the Moon has some amazing oneshots which I can’t pick and choose right now but I’ve read and loved most of them.
The most recent Pokeshipping fic I can remember reading and truly enjoying was this oneshot by @sykilik101 and this one by @pokemonislanderprincess
Apart from that I’m so sorry if I disappointed you with my old ass choices 😭 I wish I could recommend some good recent stuff but alas by Pokeani standards I might as well be a fandom grandma with my pre 210 era rec list 🤡
But thank you so much for the ask, I had a lot of fun going down memory lane in my FFN bookmarks to see all the Pokeshipping content I’ve enjoyed over the years, some of these fics are due for a re-read!

Okay, so this isn't necessarily a fic request (though I can offer one or two if you'd like), but more just an inquiry of how long you've been a writer. I'm absolutely floored with some of the ways you not only use your words, but highlight them and edit the format in such a way where they're emphasized more. I'm curious about what your influences and inspirations were, in the hopes that maybe I can find other ways to improve my own writing.
Wow, this was nice to return to when I hopped back on Tumblr. Thanks so much for the kind words of praise!
Without giving everything away, I’ve been writing for most of my life at this point; going on 25 years now (of course, not always not always Pokeshipping, and not even always fanfics).
I don’t really know if I have specific influences or inspirations? I’ve just... worked and practiced and developed my style over such and such amount of time? I would say the most influential sources for me out there were probably other fanfic writers from back in the day, coupled with my life experiences that led to me wishing to best articulate the emotions of characters to those who would read my stories. Oh, also shoujo/josei manga maybe? Because I feel the creators’ of series in such genres spend more time delving into character egos and motivations (which, like I said, is what I like to do).
Tbh, when you say things like “some of the ways you not only use your words, but highlight them and edit the format in such a way where they’re emphasized more”, I’m... not really sure what you mean? Or rather, I can’t think of any examples when I do anything so specific that it would particularly catch anybody’s eye.
Sorry I can’t be of anymore help... but I really appreciate that anybody would send me such a kind message. I keep taking time away from this blog ‘cause rl is such a mess. Now I’m smack dab in the middle of one of the states dealing with major covid-19 outbreak so everything’s on lockdown (except I work a job that is considered “essential” so I’m still going in 5-6 days a week).
#mod post#answered#i realize that last part is tmi but i'm pretty stressed and i think i'm using this ask#as a means of explaining another one of my extended absences#to the few followers still paying any attention to this blog#sorry everyone#sykilik101

Syk’s Snippets #8
“Good evening, everyone, I’m Darla Rowe, and welcome back to Cerulean Nightly News. Last week, we covered the highly prestigious Masters Eight Tournament, where Kanto’s own Ash Ketchum narrowly defeated Leon to become the new Monarch of the Pokémon world. The victory was considered by some to be quite the upset, as Leon was the previous Monarch while Ash entered the tournament as the 8th seed.
“Though we were unable to reach out to Ash after his victory, we now have an update that he is in Cerulean City as we speak, and local sources have informed us that he’s currently staying at the Cerulean Gym. Joining us now live at the gym is our local investigator Raine Coates, who claims that there might be more going on there than simple Pokémon business. Raine.”
“Yes, Darla, so for those who may not know, this isn’t Ash Ketchum’s first visit here in Cerulean City. Years ago, he once visited while on his journey to compete in the Indigo League, earning Cerulean Gym’s Cascade Badge during his stay. However, what many may not know is that the current acting gym leader, Misty, was once a traveling companion of Ash’s, having visited many other regions during her time with him.
“Many of the locals we interviewed described their interactions as friendly, albeit they’ve been sighted having random confrontations at a moment’s notice. One witness, however, claims to have seen Ash and Misty holding hands at one point during their stay. Though we have no evidence of this, this hasn’t stopped the city, and arguably the entirety of the Pokémon world, from speculating about their relationship.”
xxxxx
Ash held his face in his open hands, hoping to hide the red sear across his face as the newscast played. Misty sat beside him with her arms and legs crossed, a pout splayed across her lips as her cheeks shared Ash’s fluster.
“I told you we should’ve waited until we got back to the gym.”
“But I didn’t think anyone else was around! You didn’t see anyone else either, did you, Pikachu?”
The electric mouse, who’d nestled himself on the armrest of the couch, shrugged and shook his head. “Pika pika.”
“Some help you are.” Ash grabbed one of the couch pillows before burying his face into it.
Misty’s finger began tapping against her arm, her expression softening the slightest bit. “Well, I guess it was bound to come out at some point, right?”
Ash groaned into the pillow before chucking it back to its resting spot. “Well, yeah, but now the whole world's gonna know.”
“Ash, this is Cerulean City news, not the whole world. Besides…” Her reddened cheeks were slowly manifesting a new culprit for their tint. “It’s not like it’s a bad thing for everyone to know, right?”
“No, but…” Ash leaned back against the couch, twiddling his thumbs. “It’s kinda embarrassing when so many people know you’re dating someone, y’know?”
Misty glanced to the side; deep down, she agreed with him on that, her own mortification spilling out onto her face. “You shouldn’t have held my hand, then.”
“You’re the one who didn’t let go when I did.”
“You’re the one who said nobody would catch us!”
“If you thought it was a bad idea, why did you do it anyway?”
“Piii-ka!”
Threatening sparks jumped from Pikachu’s cheeks, silencing the two immediately. He hopped between them, taking Ash’s hand between his paws before hoisting it onto Misty’s. Ash’s fingers reflexively wrapped around hers, and he knew her well enough to know that she probably felt the same skipped heartbeat as he did.
“W-well, if people already know, at least we won’t have to hide it, right?”
Misty nodded. “Y-yeah, we can do this in public and it’s no big deal.”
“Yeah, no big deal.”
“Right.”
Truth be told, Ash himself was still adjusting to Misty being his girlfriend, and Misty still struggled to call him her boyfriend without her tongue ending up tangled. He’d hoped that he’d be able to take some time for just the two of them to acclimate to this change in their dynamic. Unfortunately, a newly-crowned Monarch apparently didn’t have the luxury of privacy.
Misty scooted closer to him, resting her head against his. The action sent a cluster of Butterfree fluttering through his stomach, and he moved his hand to rest on her shoulder. No one else but her could make him feel this way, and as the seconds ticked by the potential opinions of the rest of the world seemed to matter less and less.
“You know, maybe I don’t care if everyone knows that you make me this happy.”
Her gaze met his, though he didn’t hold it for long before she pressed her lips to his. It was only the third time since he’d first confessed his feelings to her, but the warmth surging through him made him feel weightless. His heart hammered in his chest and breathing was suddenly a suggestion rather than a basic need. She hummed against his lips and he went giddy, unable to stop himself from grinning.
“Pika pika.”
Pikachu’s voice snapped them apart, two sets of eyes landing on a now-blushing Pikachu. Ash turned to Misty, who looked to have the same expression as him. A second passed before the two erupted into giggles.
“If we can’t even do this in front of Pikachu, can we really do this in front of everyone else?”
Ash shook his head. “I guess we’ll just have to keep doing this in secret, huh?”
Misty rolled her eyes, though any scorn she might’ve felt was diluted by cuddling up against him harder. “Maybe for now. But hopefully not forever.”
Her second statement was much softer, her fingers finding each other and twisting into nervous knots. Ash planted a kiss against her temple, earning a small noise of contentment from her.
“Definitely not forever.”

*GASP* An art post? From ME? Who’d have thunk? 😲
Haha. 😆 But in all seriousness, I guess my art slump’s on break. ^w^ This is my new Pokemon OC, basically an expy of Catherine “Venus” Woods. Her hair is based off of Jessie’s in a DP episode (I think). https://www.pinterest.com/pin/442830575865878163/
Thanks to @plasmacandle and @spyrkle4 for suggestions on her hair colors!
Her last name was inspired by a Pokeshipping one shot. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/4299497/4/The-Story-Behind-The-Picture by @sykilik101
EDIT 03/29/21: I finally added in her shoes for a full-body pic, and included her black uniform!
Also, new backstory!
As a child, Venus was the subject of abuse from her parents, and two older siblings, brother and sister. She was looked at as weak, and they took away any sort of happiness. Plus, they kept her trapped in their house except for school, unable to explore the world.
Her only friend was a young, abandoned Bulbasaur she secretly took in, and nicknamed Blossom. She tirelessly keeps her secret for years, and feels her situation was more tolerable. Though her “family” finds Blossom after barging in her room, during her adolescence; after some tricking from her siblings involving fake acceptance, and “accidentally” snitching to their parents. There was some... unfortunate events; Venus loses the one thing that made her happy in the hellhole they called home, at the hands of her abusers. She's ridden with guilt, wishing she never brought Blossom to the house in the first place, believing Blossom’s fate to be her (Venus’) fault.
With that being the last straw, she escapes with only her prized Skitty doll from her loving, deceased maternal aunt, runs away, and as a young adult, joins Team Rocket for a better life, where she puts on her mask of ice queen / lone wolf to avoid getting hurt again. She then meets Butch, Cassidy, Jessie, James, and Meowth, and develops a crush on Butch. She dated in high school under her family’s noses, but all the guys wound up being jerks; narcissists, cheaters, and/or no better than her parents and siblings. For those reasons, she’s afraid of falling in love again, trying to push Butch out of her head, but in there, and real life, he’s too stubborn.
