60 Sec Rec: Resident Alien
"An alien on a mission to kill all humans crashes on Earth and hides in a remote mountain town. After assuming the identity of the town doctor, Harry Vanderspeigle, he's roped into solving a murder and realizes he needs to assimilate into his new world" [adapted from Rotten Tomatoes]
This show is hilarious. A lot of it does hinge on Alan Tudyk's charm so ymmv of course, but he, along with the rest of the cast, just lend themselves to the story with zero self-consciousness and a lot of joy. They have fun with their characters and the show is a delight to watch as a result.
The high points for me are firstly, the relationships, because they show different versions of 'family' and friendships where the people involved actually like and respect each other! (which shouldn't be rare but it somehow is). Secondly, its female characters; the guys are great too, but most shows have a male to female ratio of about 5:1 and the women are way too often afterthoughts to the male character's storylines. Not here, though: Out of the 18 actors with eps in the double digits, only 7 are men (Harry is the main character, but the others don't get sidelined). They're all different, they look different. And they're all awesome.
Created by Chris Sheridan (Family Guy). Written by Sheridan, Emily Slami and Jeffrey Nieves (Wolf Pack), Sarah Beckett (61st Street), Tommy Pico (Reservation Dogs)... Directed by Robert Duncan McNeil (Chuck, a bit of everything), Shannon Kohli (The Magicians), Kabi Akhtar (Never Have I Ever)... Starring Alan Tudyk, Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds, Alice Wetterlund, Levi Fiehler, Elizabeth Bowen, Meredith Garretson, Gary Farmer, Kaylayla Raine, Diana Bang, Jenna Lamia...
(Judy, I love you)

Don Mancini has reassured fans that the #Chucky franchise remains committed to maintaining story continuity and that beloved characters will return. This reassurance follows the announcement that #SYFY and #USANetwork will not proceed with a fourth season of the series despite the success of its third season.
Although the series has been canceled, #DonMancini remains hopeful for fans, stating that the franchise will explore stories across various media. He thanked the cast, crew, and fans for their support for the past three years. He also hinted at unrealized ideas and new characters for potential future projects.

Last warning.......

Okay so quite a bit happened. Not a lot was a complete shock. But enough to still keep entertained.
So... Chucky would have almost given up if he hadn't called Tiff. As much as people wanted to call that ship toxic... sorry that last moment talk felt actually good. Felt like a Venture bros moment, when villains are people moment or something lol.
A bit surprised Tiff's still on dead row I figured she'd have everything running by now. But I guess this was "the day after". I guess she doesn't have all for her spell yet? Just still kinda thought she'd be not worried about death row or something.
Devon and Jake are still adorable. I'm not gonna lie a bit scared for them. It was just more it felt like Devon's talk felt like foreshadowing. Heck I almost half expected Caroline to be staring out the window or awayss technically.
Chucky aged awful fast but still find it surprising he had strength to hide that maid's body... gonna chalk that up to "Its horror just go with it".
And although I saw the President getting murdered coming. I felt sorry for him, cause to true fashion instead of being direct. It was obvious the ghosts of Chucky's victims and his own son were trying to warn him the entire time.
Made me feel even sorry for Henry, cause it was obvious Teddy (his old bodyguard( was trying to warn him. And he just like Andy, doesn't realize Chucky's using him.
Uhh... Lexy is kinda boring. I'm sorry to say, sorry I'm not dissing the actress or her fans. Its just sorry she's not much to the story. Even though I get why she's manipulating Grant. Its just hard to tell when she's being genuine and when's she's just putting on for show. Which I guess yeah thats her deal but I dunno she bores me.
Any other thoughts... enjoyed Chucky's I guess meta moment of him critiquing the other doll horror movies. And I guess thats it. Its the first ep back I'm not expecting to be wowed.
Though I am curious if this season is it for the series? I only wonder cause I know there' word of an upcoming movie. And while I don't mind that. I just almost wish Don Mancini had used this show as an opportunity to do a Chucky /Freddy crossover if only even just for a brief ep. But oh well.

Dang I miss Immortal/Undead Male Whump with possible wholesome romance as tv shows...
I just got done rewatching FOREVER (2014) and Moonlight (2008) and want to watch more shows and even movies of the similar tastes and it’s hard to find.
(Forever 2014)
(Moonlight 2008) (Fun facts, the character Joseph from the show voices Terra in the Kingdom Hearts games. A book was published years after the show that inspired the series called “Angel of Vengeance” by Trevor O’ Munson. The show went on hiatus due to the writers strikes and received 4 new episodes before ending, being cancelled, and not being picked up again.)
I miss seeing shows where the male lead has to keep the secret or deal with someone knowing their secret and trying to live with it. All of it based more in a realistic reality of the actual world, while still be fictitious enough to have things that could never happen in reality as well.
I know there are some show or movies out there similar, but they don’t fit my tastes or I did watch them for a time and then stopped cause they started getting crazy or boring for me.
I’m not one for watching something with sex in it, nor a lot of demonic things in it either. Some exceptions have been Angel and Buffy, but those are more supernatural fiction. I tried watch Vampire Diaries and did enjoy it for a time, same with the Teen Wolf series, but they both got to a point I couldn’t stand them and just stopped watching and couldn’t get myself to watch them again. I’ve tried with Teen Wolf, but just got bored.
I did try watching some of True Blood to see what it was like and only came out enjoying the theme song and left that quick. I don’t think I made it past the first episode.
Tried watching Penny Dreadful and same thing happened. The Sabrina remake as well. One ep and then I ditched it. I hated the the demonic stuff and just dipped. Made me miss the 90s show I grew up all the more.
I used to watch Forever Knight as a kid, She Wolf, and Beauty and the Beast as well, but not really into watching the super older shows of late 80s early 90s right now.
Also sucks how I can’t get season 2 of Invisible Man (2000) in the US. UK is lucky and got the second season of Invisible Man, we only got Season 1, which I bought up so fast. Though based more in science, Invisible Man was another good one. Poor guy couldn’t catch a break. Miss it so much.
(The Invisible Man (2000) (Thankfully, though only 2 seasons, the series got to end with an actually ending.)
Thankful we keep getting Psych movies every few years or so, though movie 2 and 3 haven’t been available to buy yet, which is frustrating since they only show it on peacock, though 2 was on USA recently and 4 is in the works.
(Psych (2006-2014, Movies ongoing)
Enjoyed watching Dracula, the NBC, not the BBC one. That one I hated. I enjoyed Jekyll and Sherlock, but Dracula was horrible.
Dracula NBC ended too soon.
(Dracula (2013))
One I didn’t see until after it aired, that for a time was free to watch on old Hulu, was The Crow: Stairway to Heaven. Very 90′s, but enjoyable all the same.
(The Crow: Stairway to Heaven (1998) and yes that is Mark Dacascos probably known by many as The Chairman of Iron Cheif.)
Which I recently found out they finally have made a remake of the 90′s movie with Bill Skarsgard that I hope will be good. Just leaves adding any vfx and so on they need to before release.
Many will know him more as Pennywise the Clown and leads into why I sat through watching all of Hemlock Grove.
Only good reason to watch that show on Netflix.
It has Vampires and Werewolves and more, but man, it isn’t worth it in the end with the plot they give.
So, yeah, really wish we got more immortal / undead whump with possible wholesome romances.

Top 12 LGBT Horror Characters
9. Jake Wheeler (played by Zackary Arthur) from Chucky
TW: mentions of homophobia, bullying, child abuse, death, murder
*spoilers for Chucky TV Series*
Moving on to another television series based on a popular horror franchise, we are now discussing “Chucky”, which premiered on Syfy and USA Network in 2021, created by Don Manicini, who originated the entire franchise.
After seven movies, the iconic foul-mouthed killer doll continues his path of bloodshed on the small screen, with his targets sighted on a new generation of kids to terrorize.
One of those kids is middle schooler Jake Wheeler.
Before Chucky came into his life, Jake was already living in a horror story.
After his mother died in a car accident, Jake’s father Lucas became alcoholic, he is bullied mercilessly at school over his sexuality, and his perfectionist cousin Junior wants nothing to do with him.
At home, Lucas’ anger is compounded by the jealousy he felt toward his twin brother Logan’s more successful life he shared with his own wife and son. Plus, he is also not very accepting of Jake’s sexuality once he came out to him. All of this brewing rage led to Lucas punching his young son in the face after a heated argument. 🥺
The only solace he had was building those bizarre, morbid sculptures in his bedroom. (A hobby that he apparently outgrew after season 1, cause it’s never mentioned again.)
Then, Jake crosses paths with the red-headed doll at a chance encounter at a garage sale. After discovering his supernatural secret, Jake becomes slowly influenced by Chucky through after sharing his problems with him. Chucky uses false empathy to sway Jake into believing that he cares about his personal issues and wants to help him out. Thus, Chucky proposes a solution to make Jake’s emotional pain go away: MURDER!
What makes this so fascinating is that we see our lead character contemplating on going through with murdering someone. There are scenes of Jake buying weapons, chasing after someone, and even willingly gives Chucky to his tormentor Lexi, knowing that she would get murdered. Even though he has a change of heart and chooses to stop this plan, part of me actually worried that Jake would’ve succeeded in giving in to Chucky’s psychopathic manipulations, becoming another Charles Lee Ray in the making. It is terrifying, yet heartbreaking to see how easy it is for a child from a broken home could be influenced to do horrific acts by a stranger.
Yet, the damage was already done. Jake’s actions have still led to many deaths around him, including classmates and family members.
Now, Jake has to take responsibility and make things right. Now, everyday him and his friends have to spend their teen years facing danger at every turn.
Evil therapists. Psychotic nuns. Sociopathic children.
And to top it off, Chucky can be anywhere…and ANYONE!!
I can’t tell you if Jake will survive Chucky once more, because season 3 hasn’t premiered yet by the time this post has been published.

Chucky ep 3 of season 3.... spoiler warning...
I'm only giving one spoiler warning because I'm that pissed....
Spoiler warning...
Edit:: Okay so its official it was a dream. So to those that read this first its an edit. I'm not gonna go "Oh I knew the whole time". I admit the idea passed my mind. But for all I knew it could have happened and Chucky was enjoying the moment
Sooo to the White House storyline… okay explains why Chucky's there. A little bit surprised they apparently have "voodoo" doctors or clinic for this. The whole thing felt a little, Venture Bros.
Then we have Tiffany…. you know I'm gonna say it again. I don't want to hear Tiffany apologists or Nica/Tiff shippers. Every part of Tiffany's interactions with her felt cringy. I know if that had been a dude and a gal, it would had felt uncomfortable. Tiffany's not a victim, she's just as bad as Chucky. Just cause she wants her identity doesn't make her a sympathic victim. She's murdered because like Chucky she feels no freakin' remorse. She's a great villain. But I don't consider her a victim.
Andy's a victim, Kyle is, their literal murder victims, the new trio, Nica is DEFINITELY a victim. Gigi (or G. G? subtitles confused me) uhhh I dunno really know. When Glenda murdered a security guard I'm… "ohhh are they a victim? or have they always been as murderous as their mother?".
And back to Nica… Nica reallyyyy needs therapy or counseling BD;. No I get it she has every right to be pissed/and enjoy Tiffany being punished. But still I'm "girl you need help".
Then we have Caroline… uhh she's like G.G in that gray area where I don't know where to put them. Again with Gigi I'm still confused. Yes the whole "soul parted" was okay but that leaves their character's… "alignment" at an uneasy spot. Because when they were two it was easy, Glenda takes joy in killing. Glenn didn't. But since they are one now… that makes me wonder what are they? Does that mean G.G is still killing? Or only if pushed/or cornered…. o3o… we DON'T know. Sorry back to Caroline.. …. sooo on one hand we know like Henry, she's just a child being manipulated. But on the other, she enjoys/and participates (or is an accomplice) in the murders. I mean no wouldn't shock me if she's born a killer. She wouldn't be the first kid in the world to be one. I've seen a lot of ID programs where some kids come from good/loving homes and just went to the other side.
But then the other side of me wonders…. is this offensive. Sorry I know someone's rolling their eyes. But I only ask, that when a minority or people with disabilities aren't fond to find people representing them in the villain or bad role. I know no one's confirmed Caroline's autistic but it felt heavily hinted first season… but maybe I was reading it wrong?
Do forgive me for being "PC" on Caroline. I'm just sorta bringing/talking on the topic cause I wanna hear opinions. I'm not autistic so I can not give an actual opinion. I can ask about topics like this but thats about it.
