It's time for more Bride of Jadus headcanons! (i.e. a role I never elaborated on as much as I could've since it was a nickname that didn't carry as much authority as the Hand pre-Intelligence, and Eight hadn't tapped into its esotericism yet).

What is the Bride? Who are they?

Jadus' mysterious consort, alleged wife, and mother to Zhorrid, whom we never see and who is never mentioned once through the game despite the existence of Jadus' daughter. One would find it interesting that such a prominent figure in Darth Jadus' life would have little to no explanation to her conception, and given the Sith Empire's obsession with bloodlines, a daughter with no ties to her birth is hard to fathom-- so it became my headcanon that the public created a myth surrounding Jadus' nonexistent wife from the rumor mill that he had murdered Zhorrid's mother and disposed of her. Given Jadus' frightening reputation, the rumors got out of hand after a manic diplomat fled out of Jadus' compound claiming that he'd seen the bride of Jadus haunting the halls-- a veritable lady in black, weeping inconsolably at the loss of her life at the hand of her beloved, yet married eternally to the dark side which her husband sacrificed her to.

Whether this was a side-effect of exposure to Jadus' potent aura of fear still hasn't been debunked, but the urban myth has taken root in many a Dromund Kaasi citizen. Even those who staunchly disbelieve in ghosts...

Jadus himself has failed to comment, perhaps finding benefit in having little questions about his personal life and creating an extra layer of intimidation without much work.

Association with the new Hand

The conflation of the Bride with Eight began when he committed himself more to Jadus, especially when wearing a veil over his uniform as a sign of trust and a symbol of his loyalty to the Darth, leading some to mockingly call him so because of his similar appearance to a grieving widow covered head-to-toe in black mourning garb.

The mocking turned to respect, and then to fear as the new Hand's achievements grew deadlier by the cycle, as did his reputation, and soon enough began the continuation of the myth of Jadus' Bride-- reincarnated as a spirit of vengeance through a new vessel, returned from the dead to exact her revenge on Jadus' enemies. *It is noted this clashes with the original story that paints Jadus as her murderer, which lead some groups to argue over whether Jadus had her killed or Jadus' enemies did. What many agree on is that the new Hand appeared to play along with her role, down to the very part of being affectionate with the dark lord to the shock of his advisors.

Post-Zakuul Rise to Power

While the Bride remained an urban myth in the days of the Sith Empire, it was only after Jadus' reclusion and the fall of the Eternal Empire when the Bride became a more prominent role than the role of Hand for a Lord who seemed like he would never return.

To the surprise of the Dark Council, the Hand of Jadus had secretly been inside the Alliance the whole time, and it was its steady decline that saw them finally return to the Empire hale and whole. As if not a day had passed, they voiced Jadus' authority to reclaim his holdings and remnant power and promptly set about to maintaining it, though they expressed no desire to politick at the time. Moved by the return of the highest servant to their master, Jadus' remaining cultists resurged and gathered around the Hand, with the cult adopting him as their de facto leader and herald. Outside parties theorize that the cult believes him to actually be the Bride which they've semi-deified, and that his return was a miracle sent by their dark lord to lead them out of these dark times.

The Hand himself made no comment on recent cult activities, though his refusal to confirm or deny involvement furthered suspicions.

Cementation as Cult Figure (aka the part where admin tries to explain more character design development bc they can't draw)

As seen above, Eight wears a short veil that covers his eyes with his operative suit when he relies on the Force bond between him and Jadus to guide him where his physical eyes can't. While this was an effective and simple way to mimic the facelessness of his lord and represent him, more recent times would see his appearance slightly changed.

With the cult now following him and the role as Bride overtaking his role as Hand, an extra cathedral-length train was added to the veil which could be unpinned if needed. The extreme extension of the veil was meant to reflect being eternally wedded to Jadus/the darkside as a bridal veil, while retaining its double-meaning as widower's mourning garb. Though the former Hand expressed its ceremonial ornamentation and editing was a fashionable yet unnecessary gift from the cult, the aesthetic symbolism seemed to drive his cultists into an even greater religious fervour, with even the public calling him more Bride than Hand in present day.

[Admin notes: I tried to find the exact type of veil I was trying to convey but got lost in a myriad of google images. I imagine it's a hybrid between the veil pictured and a really REALLY long mantilla that is embroidered with even more gold and iconography of Jadus himself on the back, but I am not an art person.

Also got more into spooky month with extending the original ghost tale and mixing it with an agent's alias/urban myth, which I think shows how false cover stories and ghost stories can be the same. I've also noticed that most agents have an incredibly weak link to the Sith/darkside/the Force, so Eight's HoJ self is me testing out how much an agent can be involved in those things without being force-sensitive.]

Jadis and Marr don't need to dressup for Halloween bc they're pretty nuch the Vampire and Dragon. Ania would dress up as a witch and Naomi as a little fairytale sith princess (resembling her Kresh ancestor).

Jazmyn would be a faerie while Tau would be Frankenstein.

Nico goes as space cowboy for a lot of reasons. Eleena could play along by going as space cowgirl to match.

Kritanta. being the Wrath, doesn't need to dress up so she's pretty much the dark knight. Vowrawn would put on his masquerade outfit for occassion.

hi sorry I haven't gotten around to your ask yet I'm working on it, BUT I'm tossing the favorite SWTOR oc question back your way (and also whether they're following canon or doing their own thing).

I'd also love to know if you have any particular bothan headcanons you like a lot.

Hi hi!! Don't worry at all, please take your time with your response! We're all here for fun and interactions, not pressure, right? And thankyou for asking!!!

Now, part one is easy, haha. Ahuska is hands down my number one best favourite SWTOR OC, even if she appears somewhat differently in game than in my imagination. She's my main toon, the only one actually up to speed with game content, the only one with passable gear, lots of fun pets and mounts and outfits, and is currently working on polishing up her Mojo Dojo Copero Dream House.

BUT, where she matters to me even more than that is in her story/RP, and here things diverge... quite a lot, hahaha. Very very originally she was just a toon that I made to PVP alongside my husband with (I actually did think of her as a bothan right from the start), but when I found myself hungry for RP I fleshed her out a little to join a RP guild in game which is where her life really started (particularly owing to @koboldgirl and the exceptional times we've had writing together). The group's premise was a Mandalorian clan rebuilding itself after all the Zakuul business, but despite that vague timeframe her story never really touched on swtor events or canon characters (the toon is an Imperial Agent but she is not REMOTELY an Agent, even as much as I love the IA storyline). Over time I made a bunch of wonderful friends in the swtor community and Ahuska's story has intercepted a few others here and there, and from that perspective keeping the timeline vague/unimportant and away from key canon characters/moments has really helped with being able to have her interact with others without contradicting their own things they have going on. I think engaging with other characters/writers is what motivates me more than anything and I get a tonne of joy in seeing/considering/plotting how they might interact!

Now, Ahuska also took a deep dive into an AU with @askshivanulegacy that started as a halloween drabble challenge and has somehow become literal years of very intense worldbuilding and fiction and words can't describe how much I love this story, hahaha. It's still very much Ahuska, and very much swtor, it's just... swtor if the Empire managed to perfect a weird-science-sith-alchemy-intelligence-conditioning combo to create a very star-warsy version of werewolves (and were-any-other-critter). The first generation were designed to be secret soldiers/weapons, but the project failed and Ahuska is the sole survivor, going on a wonderful journey of self liberation and learning what truly makes a monster. The second generation (and all subsequent) came from Intel refining the technology and utilising it as an extra toolset for the most elite of elite Cipher agents, which is where almost all the rest of the cast comes from. Naturally there's a lot of divergence from canon here by the very nature of things, but funnily we also lean on a lot more canon swtor story beats, particularly when we look ahead to the KotFE and beyond time period.

I have so much love for every iteration of Ahuska, honestly, and I know I've mentioned it here and there but she really truly did play a huge role in pulling me out of a pretty grim place, not only helping me rediscover a lot of creativity but also helping to restore my trust and faith in people in general. She's led me to people who are now my absolute dearest friends, which in turn has taken me quite literally, physically across this humble planet we live on. I genuinely believe sharing stories is a massive part of what makes us human and I get very sentimental when I consider what a significant place this silly little bothan holds in my heart <3

Now, it's getting late for me, haha, so I will probably visit the second part of your ask in another post, but I love that as a question! >3 Once again ty for sending this and I can't wait to hear about yours!

I know it is the end of the spooky season but would any of your OCs enjoy dressing up for Halloween and what in your mind would their costumes be?

Admittedly, I don't know a lot about how people celebrate Halloween and how they dress up (not a big thing here), but I'll try to answer with the knowledge I have.

Also, assuming this is set in our universe (sorta) bc it impacts costume options.

Raen - if going trick or treating, would dress up as a villain from some classic movies (like Freddy Krueger or Ursula, idk why these two, it just works) or be a part of a group set of costumes. When going to parties, would prob go as a skeleton just to replicate the spooky doot meme or say "this really rattles my bones" to pretty much anything. And the costume would be glowing, kinda like this:

Shailla doesn't go to parties or trick or treating, but still dresses up (mostly bc everyone else does). She would go as an antagonistic character from some obscure novel or play, leaving most people confused about what she's supposed to be. Her reason is something like "this character represents the existential dread, the fear of the unknown in all of us, and that's the true horror", to which there is at least one person saying 'lame' and 'nerd'. That doesn't stop her, though.

(Raen might have been one of those people, but if someone else does it, she becomes the biggest defender of Shailla's costume. bc siblings do be like this)

Jett went on trick or treating with Raen when both were young, and usually she's just let Raen plan the outfit. As an adult, Jett would only attend a party if her friends dragged her there (as she would much rather decorate the house, have a spooky story hour or watch horror movies), and her choice of costume would be this fella who repeated "Hey, who turned out the lights?":

No idea how it would look at the party, but seems like something Jett would do (plus kinda close to Raen, since it's a skeleton as well).

If set in SWTOR though, Jett would try to dress as Valkorion to prank people in the Alliance, but others talked her out of this (coz it's not the best idea).

Vintu would just dress as a zombie version of himself (plus makeup and glowing stuff) and then go scare the hell out of some kids to steal their candy. Or a rakghoul version in SW universe.

And Airistan would go with a vampire look - fangs, yellow or red eyes, dramatic clothing, super long nails to imitate claws, etc.

Bonus: Auletta despises the whole thing (bc people treat horror as something fun, and not even the right kind of fun (read: sadistic)), so the only reason she'd dress up is to inflict real horror on people to teach them a lesson. (Pretty sure it's the plot of a movie that I watched but forgot, or one of HISHE videos from Villain Pub series)

thinking about the serum cure to the Castellans for Eight, but instead of the formula Nine used, it had to be edited because he was a different species/the formula wasn't perfected. instead of dimalium, he had to inject himself with the viral tasuba strain--the flowering wolf plague--and "turn" in order to flush the mind control out of his body. thinking about how he chose to fight forever by choosing the limitless command. thinking of how every time he's stuck in a corner and the Castellans momentarily course through his veins, his mane grows out unnaturally long and fierce and tinged pink, like a bloody veil, his eyes alight with a cold fire. and then for a moment, his enemies know what it's like to truly face him: the wolf called Eight.
