Chapter 17 of the Star Wars fic "Order 65". The rest can be found here.
19 BBY, Coruscant, Coruscant Underworld
Rex stared up at Cody above him, the blaster still level with his face. He was wearing civvies, and was a little unsteady on his feet, but the barrel of the blaster didn’t waver.
“You didn’t survive.” Cody said again. “They put your name on the wall, Rex. There are records of the ship going down. I read them all. You died.”
“I made it off the ship.” Rex said, slowly pushing himself up onto his elbows. The blaster stayed where it was. “Barely. But I did. Commander Tano helped me.”
The blaster did waver then. “The Jedi are dead, Rex.”
“If you don’t think I’m alive, then why do you keep using my name?”
“You being alive and you being you are two different things.” Cody said, hand tightening on the blaster. “If you were going to arrest me, Stormtroopers would already be swarming this place. So you’re you. You’re just also dead.”
“And how does that work?”
“Simple. You’re not real.”
Rex’ heart clenched as he took in his friend’s disheveled appearance, really took it in, for the first time. The wobble in his step, the open door of the bar behind him, the stench of alcohol that wafted out into the street.
“How do I prove to you that I’m real?”
“You can start by not bringing up ghosts.” the blaster finally lowered, Cody’s hand falling to his side. He pushed the hair out of his face. It had gotten long enough to fall into his eyes.
“Commander Tano is alive.”
“Even if she was, she’s not a commander of anything, anymore.”
“It’s a sign of respect.”
“It’s a lie.” Cody leaned against the wall of the alley, staring at him with his head tilted to the side.
“I’m alive, and so is she.”
“Stop making things up. Better yet, just go away.” Cody pressed a hand to his temple.
Rex pushed himself to his feet, and when the blaster didn’t come up again, took a few steps towards his friend. He reached out a tentative hand and placed it on Cody’s shoulder. His brother jumped, looking up at him with wide eyes.
“I’m real, Cody. I’m alive, and so is she.” Rex said again.
And his brother’s eyes filled with tears. Rex had served most of his life alongside Cody. He’d always been one of the most put together people Rex knew; practical and grounded, able to put his emotions aside and get the job done. You had to be, to run a legion. You had to be able to bury the dead and move on, all in the same day.
And some part of that person was still in there, fighting to keep it all under wraps. Rex could see it. But still a single tear traveled slowly down his cheek.
“It’s really you?”
“It’s really me.” Rex affirmed, wrapping his arms around his brother. The blaster clattered from Cody’s hand as he hugged him back.
“It’s you. You’re real. You’re here” Cody said, quietly, into his shoulder.
“I’m here, brother.”
“How did you survive? I saw the holos of the ship going down-”
“Commander Tano is alive. We escaped together. She helped me with my chip, just like I’m going to help you with yours.”
Cody pulled away from him, confused. “Chip?”
“Inhibitor chips.” Rex explained. “We were all fitted with them. The Kaminoans did it. I don’t know why, or who ordered it, but that’s how they made us do it. How they made us turn against the Jedi.”
Cody stumbled away from him, nearly tripping on a broken bottle left lying in the alley. “What do you mean how they made us?”
“Couldn’t you feel it?” Rex’s fists clenched at the mere memory of it. “The way those words wormed their way into your head? Forced your body to move even as your mind refused? I would never have fired on Commander Tano, you would never have-” His eyes widened with realization. The booze, the layer of stubble covering his usually clean shaven face, the haunted look in his brother’s eyes.
The broken look.
You’re not real. You can start by not bringing up ghosts. The Jedi are dead, Rex.
“Cody, that wasn’t you.” Rex told him.
The bond between the clones and their Jedi generals had always been strong. Rex would have died for General Skywalker or Commander Tano in a heartbeat. The same way he would have for any of his men. They were some of the few outsiders that were like brothers to them. Their brothers and sisters in arms.
Rex couldn’t imagine what it would have felt like if he’d hurt Commander Skywalker. If he’d been the one to pull the trigger and-
But Cody had always been close with General Kenobi. Closer than he should have been, maybe. There were rules. Cody usually followed rules. He lived and breathed them. Or he had, anyway. Before all of this. But Rex had seen the way he looked at the General. If-
“That wasn’t you.” he repeated, but Cody just took another step back, shaking his head.
“Who else could it have been?”
“The Emperor. The Empire. Whoever was pulling the strings of this whole kriffing war. It was all for nothing, Cody. All the battles, all the deaths.” he reached out and took his brother by the shoulders, shaking him. “But it wasn’t you. Whatever happened, whatever you think you did, that wasn’t you.”
“What does it matter who it was?” Cody looked up at him, eyes wide and horrified, voice dropping low. “He’s dead.”
Rex squeezed his shoulder. He didn’t know what else to do. What to say.
Eventually Cody took a deep breath, shrugging him off and going to pick up his blaster from where it had fallen. He shoved it back into it’s holster. “If you’re right, and there is some way for them to… to control me again. Then let’s get it out.”
His hands were shaking. Rex didn’t mention it.
“Alright. Let’s go.”

The relevance of Star Wars to pop culture depictions of archives [Part 2]
Continued from part 1
youtube
As was mentioned in the above shown video by Snoek-Brown, Dooku and Nu were apparently in a romantic relationship. The Wookiepedia entry seems to allude to this, saying the Qui-Gon Jinn "noticed that Dooku and Nu were normally very friendly" and quotes an interview in Star Wars Insider 75 (which Snoek-Brown mentioned), in which Nu's voice actress, Alethea McGrath, stated that a scene cut from the film stated that "Nu and Count Dooku used to be in love during Dooku's days in the Jedi Order"! I mentioned this in a previous article, noting it creates an ulterior motive for her and asked if she is "part of a cover-up of the record in that her previous love with Dooku clouded her judgment" and asked if "he took advantage of her, allowing him to delete the record", raising lots of questions.
Reprinted from my Wading Through the Cultural Stacks WordPress blog. Originally published on Oct. 12, 2022.
After some sleuthing, I found the original article. It is always better to look at the original source than looking at an abstract. In a small part of the article in this 2004 edition of Star Wars Insider, [8] McGrath said she was disappointed that Nu didn't get to use her lightsaber in the film, commented that she wore an "old-fashioned dress" instead of a cloak (which she expected), and notes the cut scene about the romance between Nu and Dooku, with her careering Dooku's face:
"It was a lovely bit. I got quite sentimental about it because [our characters had] been in love at one stage. I was almost tearful, you know. I touched his bronze face and thought of happy times, and I ended up saying, 'It was sad he turned to evil'".
I was curious, and it turns out that there are 50 Dooku / Nu fan fictions on Archive of Our Own, a fan-created community archive which won a Hugo Award in 2019. Looking through those is a discussion for another time. Anyway, on a related note, perhaps, is an article arguing that Star Wars has a lot to "tell us about perennial questions of constitutional design." [9]

choose violence: 1, 6, 12 ✨
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/de5ede2656b5bf0486b325f0d39791ba/d140118bd92d45c6-6c/s540x810/5911ad50603ee4ba07b4da5deec2f2d662d7f818.jpg)
Choose violence ask game
the character everyone gets wrong
Hrm probably Barriss Offee! This is of course directly due to the racism of Filoni & swtcw writers, but certain sides of the fandom tend to misrepresent her intentions… ie acting as though her goal was to betray Ahsoka, rather than that betrayal occuring as a secondary consequence to her bombing the temple. The temple bombing was an incredibly islamaphobic plotline to begin with but reconciling it with her character is… possible… in that she was so traumatized by the horror of constant death around her that she felt the need to orchestrate a drastic demonstration to get the republic’s attention. But I do not feel as though she was meant to be interpreted as desensitized to that violence but rather reconciling it within herself as a necessary evil to prevent further deaths. But again there are far better and less racist directions Filoni could’ve taken her character in order to make the same point. Like if she left the Jedi order to join resistance fighters like Saw Guerrera, for instance, and we got to see more of the development on screen of her difficulty with alligning the jedi code with her actions. But I digress.
6. Which ship fans are the most annoying?
The easy, obvious and throway answer is obikin shippers lmfao. I definitely understand the appeal of exploring fucked up relationships through fiction. I’m an AMC’s Interview with the Vampire fan. But the romanticization of that particular relationship is sickening to me and a lot of them like to pretend that there isn’t anything like… fucked up to explore there. Like a master/padawan ship’s power imbalance is not typically what these people want to tackly. They just want to draw horny sith obiwan fan art and write about those two fucking from sex pollen (I have perused their side of ao3 out of morbid curiosity. Sex pollen comes up a lot. Unsurprising given the dubcon nature of it, I suppose)
The easy, less obvious answer is probably dinlukes (sorry Ky aslkdjf) or dincobbs like I really do understand the appeal of shipping the single dad with hot young twinks or dilfy men but like there is such barebones support for the ship in the show that it’s nothing to me. Like sorry but these men barely interacted with each other. There’s no substance
12. The unpopular character you like and why more people should like them?
My biggest one is Barriss, but I already talked about her a little bit so I’ll say Arvel Skeen, from Andor. I’ve found his character and what he represents to Cassian fascinating since the end of his arc, which I talked about here. I think the fandom had a tendency to kind of two dimensionalize him / hate him unnecessarily. And then everybody forgot about him lol. When I found his final conversation with Cassian very poignant in establishing Cassian’s values and in exploring Skeen as a character himself.
Send me asks!

Would anyone care for some unsolicited fanfic recs in this trying time?
Star Wars (because I have no other life):
(Re)convene by Nightfall_1409:
10 years after sacrificing himself for the Rebellion, Ezra Bridger is offered the chance to turn back the clock and alter the course of history forever- the Force sending back with him a ragtag band of heroes, all whom have proven themselves worthy of the chance, all of whom have the drive to prevent the events that turned their lives into living nightmares, all of whom have the chance to save their loved ones from their fates.
Now 35 years in the past, returned to the era of the Republic 6 years before the rise of the Empire, 3 years before the start of the Clone Wars, he has to unite his scattered allies- Ahsoka Tano, Din Djarin, Boba and Omega Fett- and put together the puzzle of what caused the galaxy to fall, or they'll all be doomed to watch it happen again.
Personal Thoughts:
I really like this one. Time travel is my favorite trope. It’s well written, it draws you in, and the author has done an excellent job of mashing up Legends and Canon in fun and unique ways.
It has everything: Force Sensitive Omega, Tired Space Dad Din Djarin accidentally becoming a main character, Ezra and Anakin as chaotic besties, no Jedi bashing, and much more that would be spoilers.
The author tries to update twice a month. It’s really good. Also this is the only one I’m including the summary for because I’m lazy.
Time-Traveling Artoo by SpiderMansUnfriendlyNeighbor
Crack fic go brrrr. Seriously though, it’s just Artoo fucking with Sidious and then kidnapping children to matchmake. I was laughing the whole way through.
A Means of Survival by LessAttitudeMoreAltitude
In which Ursa finds a half dead Jedi Padawan named Caleb and the Mandalorian Adoption instinct activates. Listen, Sabine has decided the Jetti’ad is her favorite person, they can’t just not adopt him
The Time Heals ‘verse by jessicas_pi
Force Sensitive Sabine travels back in time to the Clone Wars, accidentally bonds with a Force Entity that I’m 99% sure is the Brother, becomes Obi-Wan’s Padawan, and keeps accidentally-on-purpose bringing people back to the past.
Also Quinlan Vos is there.
It’s Sabezra if that’s a turn off for anyone.
You Either Die A Hero… by RennyBanette
The 501st gets trapped in a time loop on Umbara. Delightful crack full of Krell murder and fire.
The Desert Storm by Blue_Sunshine
This is the Star Wars time travel fic. It’s so good. 4 years after the fall of the Republic Obi-Wan gets caught in a sandstorm, and when it passes he’s back in time when Anakin’s just a three year old clinging to his mom’s skirt.
Naturally, Obi-Wan frees the Skywalkers, changes his name to Ben Naasade, takes his younger self as a Padawan, and gives Mace Windu so many headaches.
Featuring: Jedi Shmi Skywalker, Pong Krell getting his shit wrecked, Legends stuff, Jedi Shmi Skywalker, Mandalorians being awesome, Alderaan being awesome, Jedi Shmi Skywalker, Obitine, the Sith being evil and creepy, and most importantly, Jedi Knight Shmi Skywalker

Since it’s Fanfiction Writer Appreciation day, I might as well share the Star Wars: Blood Tribune series.
If you ever wanted to see close up how a modern Sith species/Sith Pureblood society would view the force, the darkside, the republic, etc. it’s a great read.
It starts during the time of the Clone Wars.
It’s kind of a slice of life type style story, but since it takes place in a completely separate part of space, and in a totally different society I think it works to its benefit.
You can read it on Wattpad or AO3.
I won’t spoil much but it’s certainly worth the read. All the books so far have been short but concise reads.
I recommend it. I hear it’s still ongoing. I’m excited to see the future of the series. There’s a lot of potential in this universe.

SWTCW- Fix it AU
I recently re-wrote an old AU of mine, one where Ahsoka is adopted by Padme and Anakin, and eventually finds out that she is a big sister. You can read it here.
@captainadwen reblogged it, and added this comment in the tags:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/76e68aa85c25429d852e562babd82690/71993d4508574ead-10/s540x810/6acb4377d519e4c3c95f8048231b748a84b2f310.jpg)
Fix it AU? You got it.
.........
Ahsoka is adopted by Anakin and Padme. Ahsoka and Anakin practically clear out their entire living space at the Temple so they can move in with Padme. Ahsoka gets her own room; the walls are soon covered in notes and drawings and photos. Regardless of how awful the day was, the three of them get to go home and make dinner together, laugh together.
On one such night, after a horrible mission that kept them apart for weeks, Anakin has an epiphany. He's sitting on the couch, arm wrapped around Padme's shoulders. She's leaning into him, resting her head on his chest, reading from the book on her lap. Ahsoka is on his other side. She fell asleep some time ago. Thanks to faulty intel and a split second distraction, there's a bandage covering most of her back and right lekku. She shakes a little, mumbles something, but a gentle pulse along their training bond is enough to quell the nightmares. The dinner dishes are stacked in the sink, there's three mugs of tea sitting on the table in front of them. And he realizes, in this moment, this is what he wants. All he wants. Forever.
The next morning, Anakin tells Ahsoka he's planning to leave the Order, as soon as the war is over. There's an argument, Ahsoka doesn't want to leave Barriss, Obi-Wan, Plo-Koon. The Order is all she's ever known. Anakin tells her that he's insanely proud of her, but she wasn't raised to be a Jedi. She was raised to be a soldier. Ahsoka shuts down, stunned. She doesn't want to believe it.
Anakin leaves her alone with her thoughts. After a while, she goes and hugs Anakin, apologizes for yelling. He apologizes too, tells her that she'll be a great Jedi, that he'll stay until she's Knighted. Padme says she doesn't want to be a Senator forever, but that Ahsoka will always have a home with them, that they'll support her no matter what she wants.
Ultimately, it's Ahsoka who leaves the Order first. She spends time in the Underworld of Corusant, learning from Rafa and Trace. She learns more about what it means to really be a Jedi. She's reunited with Anakin shortly before the Siege of Mandalore, and ends up going with him to rescue the Chancellor.
Upon their return to Corusant, Padme tells Anakin she's pregnant. Anakin is so excited and terrified at the same time. He doesn't tell Ahsoka right away, only that he has to leave the Order, has to go to Naboo and he'll be back as soon as he can. She wants to know what's going on, but Anakin asks her to trust him. And she does.
So Anakin resigns from the Order and leaves with Padme for Naboo. Ahsoka asks the Council if she can return to the Order, and they eagerly accept, still reeling from Anakin's departure. But she has two conditions: that she be promoted to Knight Intiate, a long forgotten rank marking the transition from Padawan-hood to Jedi Knight. She also asks to be assigned to finish her training under Obi-Wan Kenobi. Their relationship is still healing following her trial, but she knows that Anakin would want someone looking after him.
Obi-Wan accepts, believing this whole thing to be another one of Anakin's wild schemes. The Dark Side makes him feel heavy and clouded. The path forward is uncertain, and he is struggling to find a direction.
Anakin is now far away from the influence of the Chancellor. So Palpatine's attention turns to what he believes to be the next best thing- his renegade student, already suspected of treason, thinking it'd be easy to turn her raw power into a tool to be used by the Sith. If he gains her trust, he can easily get Anakin back under his control.
Or so he thinks. Ahsoka is no longer a youngling, worried about being expelled from the Order if she steps out of line. She does digging of her own. With Rex's help and Echo's information, she's able to uncover Order 66. Using her contacts in the Underworld, Ahsoka has an assassin take out the Chancellor. Bail Organa is temporarily put in power, and the Empire is destroyed before it's even begun.
Ahsoka becomes a full Knight within a year. She is Knighted at sunset, the reds and golds of Corusant's sky making the entire chamber glow. As she kneels before him, Anakin removes her Padawan braid, the one he's carried with him since that awful day the Jedi abandonded her, the one she wears to take her Trials. She rises as Ahsoka Tano-Skywalker, Jedi Knight of the New Republic. Obi-Wan and Yoda are teary-eyed, seeing their child born of innocence and raised in war come through strong and smiling. Padme is there too, so is Plo Koon. He's holding Leia, while she holds Luke. And a dozen or more members of the 501st, the 212th, and the Wolfpack that crowded in cheer her on. Their vod'ika finally achieving her dream.
With the Council's blessing (not that she gave them much choice), Ahsoka leaves for Naboo and establishes the New Dawn Jedi Temple. She takes in Force-sensitives that want to develop their abilities but not formally join the Jedi, and Jedi that don't subscribe to the traditionalist values of the Code. Jedi are welcome to marry, have children, leave and resume their service as they wish. Obi-Wan is eventually coerced into joining them, taking the role of Grand Master. Qui-Gon appears to him often, and never leaves without telling Obi-Wan he's proud of him.
Padme and Anakin are allowed to rest, without the pressures of being Queen or a Jedi General or a Senator. Anakin enjoys being a husband, a father, helping others as a volunteer mechanic. He stops having nightmares so much. Luke and Leia grow up learning from their big sister, from all of their "Uncles" in the GAR that move to Naboo or find their own paths across the galaxy.
Five years after Ahsoka's trial, she returns to Corusant to visit old friends. She stops by the Senate, the New Republic is the definition of transparent. The farthest reaches of the Outer Rim no longer feel ignored. While there, she formally petitions for Barriss Offee's release. The new judicial committee are hesitant, naturally, but Ahsoka insists that she will assume complete responsibility for her actions.
Luminara, battle-weary and uncertain, agrees to help Ahsoka. They take Barriss to Naboo, under strict supervision, and Barriss gets the help she needs, learning of what Ahsoka has done and how the Jedi were manipulated into needless destruction. Ahsoka and Barriss repair their relationship, slowly, taking tiny steps. Barriss dedicates herself to healing, and raising the younglings that are brought to the Dawn Temple.
Padme wakes up one morning, finding Anakin's side of the bed empty. She wanders out to the backyard. Sitting there, she finds her husband holding the twins (now 6) in his lap. They're still squirmy, trying to meditate like their Dad. Ahsoka sits next to them, holding one of his hands. Their bond fully open, they begin each day like this, immersed in the Force, in the love that has held their family together. Padme goes back inside to start breakfast. The sun continues to rise, a new day begins. Trouble still remains, as it always will in the galaxy, but for the first time in a long time- there is a new hope that stands uncorrupted.

Chapter 12 of the Star Wars fic "Order 65". The rest can be found here.
19 BBY, Coruscant, Coruscant Underworld
Rex was surprised to see the Senator back so soon. After hearing her talk about… him and all the watchful eyes up top, he’d expected her to stay away, at least for a little while. Lay low and offer the risky business of ferrying them supplies to one of her guards.
Rex smiled a bit at the sight of her carrying crates onto the ship. Sometimes he forgot there were still good ones out there; willing to get their hands dirty and do their share of the work.
“Captain!” Chuchi called, catching sight of him as he stepped off his own ship. She set the crate she’d been carrying down with a small grunt of effort, wiping the back of one hand across her forehead. “Was your mission a-”
She broke off as Howzer and the others came into view behind him, following Rex down the ramp and into the landing bay. Her smile widened, and Rex let the elation of a successful mission buoy him for a moment.
“Things are looking up, Senator.” he said. “Drixx’s intel was right. And we might have gotten another lead.”
Rex nodded to Echo, who was still clutching the data stick in his hand.
“We’ve got somebody who can crack this, no problem.” Rex told her. “At this rate we might actually be able to take the fight to the Empire.”
“I knew you’d be able to.” Chuchi smiled, hefting the crate up again as she turned to Howzer and the others. “I’ll get this inside and then I’ll get out some food. You all must be famished.”
As she hurried off to finish loading the transport, Rex turned back to the others, offering to help them down the ramp and guiding them over to a clear spot on the floor of the bay where they could rest.
“Some setup you’ve got here, Rex.” Howzer said, looking around.
“Empire might think it's through with us, but they’ve got no idea what’s coming.”
“Well, I know I for one am ready to take the fight to those bastards.” Howzer shook his head. “Half my men gone to who knows where because we didn’t turn on our own and the people we fought beside.”
He sighed “I thought this war was over, Rex.”
“Starting to think wars don’t end.” Rex said with a sigh of his own, sitting beside him and leaning back against one of the crates. “They just change faces.”
“Maybe.” Howzer said, watching as Chuchi offered food to what remained of his men. “But at least we’re not alone in the fight. Maybe it could end. If we do it right.”
“We were never alone.”
“I’m not talking about our brothers.”
“Neither am I.” Rex replied. “The Jedi-”
“The Jedi betrayed us.”
Images of General Skywalker and Commander Tano flashed through Rex’s mind. “They didn’t. They would never. You don’t know them like I do.”
“Then where are they, Rex?” Howzer asked, and Rex couldn’t argue with that. “Even if they didn’t betray us, they abandoned us.”
“We didn’t give them much of a choice.”
They lapsed into silence, Rex’s thoughts wandering to where his general might be. He knew he was alive out there, somehow. It didn’t matter that he’d been on Coruscant when the temple was destroyed; General Skywalker was fine. For them to stand a chance, he had to be.
In the end, they all settled in fine. It wasn’t long before Howzer and the others were helping to load the transport with supplies; getting everything ready for the transfer to the new base. Rex couldn’t help but think about what Howzer had said, though. Where were the Jedi? He refused to think they’d have abandoned them. That they really thought the clones who had fought loyally beside them for so long could turn on them in an instant. They must have known, he thought. The way Ahsoka had known. Known that something was wrong. That this wasn’t them.
But if they knew, then where were they?
Rex didn’t want to think about the alternative. That maybe there really were no Jedi left.
“Captain?” a tap on his arm pulled Rex back into the present, and he turned to look at Chuchi. She offered him a tired smile.
“I believe that's the last of it. I should be getting back.”
“Thank you, Senator.” he said, and he meant it. “For everything.”
“It’s the least I can do.” she said, just like she always did. But then her expression turned businesslike again. “I’ll keep in touch with Drixx, pass along any intel we can gather.”
Rex nodded his thanks, clambering up onto the shuttle. He couldn’t say he would miss Coruscant, but he felt something as the ramp began to climb up behind him. It hadn’t been home in a while. Rex hadn’t had a home in a while. None of them had.
“And Captain!” Chuchi’s voice echoed from below and Rex glanced back down at her. She smiled. “Stay safe.”
It was the last time he’d see her until the war was ending.

WIP Wednesday
It’s that time of the week where ya girl is writing angst about Clones and she has no regrets! So please enjoy this angsty morsel to fill your hearts and souls.

“Do you think there could be more clones?” he asked her.
Omega shrugged. “I don’t know,” she confessed. “I’d like to think there’s still some clones who want out of the Empire, and that maybe we could do something to help them. Like we did with Gregor. But…”
Hunter’s brow arched. “But what?”
Omega sat up straighter and peered over her shoulder. Hunter sensed there was something larger weighing on her mind. He followed her line of sight and noticed she was looking at Echo who was fast asleep in his chair. There was a sadness in her eyes as the pair of them watched his chest rose and fell in a steady pattern, assuring Hunter that the cyborg would not wake for several more hours.
“Who’s Fives?” she asked.
Hunter was taken back. How Omega came to hear that name was a surprise for him.
He’d heard Echo mention Fives in passing a few times, but he had yet to gain the whole story. He knew what the Republic report had said. A rogue trooper snapped and attempted to kill the Chancellor only to be shot and killed by the Guard after being cornered in an alley.
And after their motley crew rescued Echo and Order 66… Fives was right. He’d been right all along.
Hunter heaved a deep sigh, breathing through his nose. “Why do you ask?”
“I heard Echo talking in his sleep,” Omega said. “He kept saying "Fives” over and over again.”
“As much as I’d like to tell you about Fives, I didn’t really know him,” Hunter said, honest. His gaze flickered over to Echo. “But what I do know is that he and Echo were close. Fives died on Coruscant before we rescued Echo. Rex was the one who told him what happened to Fives… he, he didn’t take it well.”
Hunter remembered the sheer look of pain and distraught on Echo’s face as Rex spoke the words, “I’m sorry, vod. Fives’... he’s gone.” Echo stood in shock for a moment before he sank to his knees and screamed, and screamed, and screamed until Rex joined him on the ground and took him into his arms. It was a sight he’d seen a few times in his life. Brothers crying for their fallen brothers who had marched on while they were left to keep fighting and dying for the Republic.

🤣🤣 I love this 🤣🤣
Please tell us about "obi is drunk again"
ya know what i actually panicked for a second thinking "did i already post this?" but no. it's in fact not one of the 13 drunk obi-wan fics i have posted. i'm a girl of limited taste i guess.
“You locked yourself out,” Anakin deadpans.
“No,” Obi-Wan insists, even as he stumbles and hits his elbow against the wall. “Someone...someone changed. Changed my code.”
Anakin rolls his eyes in impatience. “Someone changed the code to your bedroom?”
“Yes. Prob’ly…hm...” Obi-Wan grumbles unintelligibly for a moment, then mutters, “Maul, I think.”
Ahsoka sputters at this, trying to stifle a giggle. “Maul? You’re saying Maul snuck into the Temple and...all he did was change the keypad to your room?”
Anakin groans in frustration. “Move out of the way, old man.” He pushes past Obi-Wan and jabs his finger at the keypad, expertly punching in the combination. The door releases with a hiss and opens. Obi-Wan turns to Anakin with wide eyes of betrayal. “It was you.”

Okay, I thought it might be nice to begin with my story of why I ship rexsoka. It began as all my main ships did, strangely enough, as a total crackship. I was rewatching SWTCW as you do and I thought "hey. This ahsoka chick? she's amazing. She deserves the world (true)." So I thought "okay I've heard that being in love is, like, a good thing, right? So I think I'll poke around on some fan fiction websites for ships with ahsoka". I look and I look and basically everything is kind of uncomfortable for me, ahsoka with barriss, ahsoka with Anakin, and the only one I didn't hate was ahsoka with rex (Lux was NEVER an option because he's a lil bitch). Okay, so I look into a rexsoka fic. It's not my top choice, but maybe it'll work??? Well I read the fi c and damn if it don't work. Actually, it's works really well?? They're amazing together??? So I look into more fanfictions, and bam now I'm trash. So, what are your stories?

Chapter 16 of the Star Wars fic "Order 65". The rest can be found here.
19 BBY, Coruscant, Senate District
Fox hadn’t signed up for this.
He didn’t like Senators; they were full of themselves, not as smart as they thought they were, and looked down their noses at anyone who wasn’t one of their own. And sometimes even at them, too.
One of them was a nuisance. But a gala’s worth? Fox needed to rethink his career choices.
And yet here he was, leaving the extra bag of espresso he’d bought on the counter for Senator Chuchi in hopes of finally making them square. Again. If he was going to kill her, he couldn’t be owing her anything. Not even a cup of caf.
And the gala was the perfect opportunity to finally complete his mission and be able to move on to the next.
He’d already been contacted with the details. Fox and his unit were in charge of security, and would be vetting the servers. One of them, a Mirialian girl they’d be given the name of later, would be forgoing such formalities. Fox had already taken over the process of doing background checks from Kosmo.
Once she was in, they needn’t do anything else. She would complete her mission, they would complete theirs. Everyone would go their separate ways and Fox could finally be free of this assignment. One week. One week and it would all be over.
He just had to make it through seven days.
Leaving the bag of espresso on the counter with a note, he went back outside to continue his sweep of the perimeter. He’d left Lucky in charge of his route until he got back, figuring the shiny could handle a few laps of the landing area without getting into too much trouble.
He’d been wrong.
“Thank you so much, Lucky.” Senator Chuchi was saying, handing a string of lights up to the clone, who was standing on a ladder hanging them around the edge of the little elevated garden that stretched out like an oversized balcony from the Senator's apartments. “I really appreciate it.”
“Of course, Senator.” he said, attaching the last little fairy light to it’s pole. He spotted Fox as he clambered down the ladder and raised a hand in greeting.
“Oh, Commander! I finished the perimeter sweep and-”
“Then why didn’t you do another one?” Fox asked, curtly. “Does checking once mean no one can get in when you’re not watching? Does you throwing a fleeting glance around the perimeter create an impenetrable wall that no thief or assassin can breach?”
“I- I’m sorry, Sir. I’ll get right on it.” the shiny stammered.
Fox reminded himself that he’d never actually seen combat and sighed, preparing to offer to do it with him, when the Senator stepped forward. She frowned at him.
“I asked for his assistance, Commander. He was merely obliging me.”
Fox bit his tongue, scowling under his helmet. “I appreciate the clarification, Senator.”
He jerked his head to the side, beckoning Lucky to follow him. The other trooper did, trailing a little hesitantly behind. Fox could have sworn he heard Chuchi apologize for getting him into trouble as he passed, but it must have just been the wind.
Once they had rounded the corner and were out of earshot of the meddlesome Senator, Fox turned on his companion. Lucky shuffled his feet nervously, and any words of reprimand that the commander had had planned died on his lips.
“You have a job to do,” he said instead. “And I know that it is technically to aid the Senator, but she may not have the same idea of what that means as we do. When I say we are to help the Senator, I mean we are to ensure she is able to continue to serve the Empire. Whatever that may mean, and at all costs. Even if that means saying no when she asks for your help decorating her garden. She may not like us, but she will continue to serve her purpose, and that is it’s own kind of reward. Am I understood?”
“Yes, sir.” Lucky gave him a slightly wooden salute.
“At ease.” Fox sighed. “Just keep your distance from the Senator. We’re her protection detail, not her decorators.”
“What about-” “We’re not her friends, either.” Fox said over his shoulder, already turning to continue their sweep of the perimeter. “We are soldiers of the Empire. Everything we do, we do for the betterment of the Galactic Empire. Not one Senator.”
Fox waited until he heard Lucky’s footsteps fall in time with his own before he relaxed into the familiarity of the border patrol. But even then he was still a little on edge. It felt like he always was, these days. Covert missions and assassinations weren’t what he’d signed up for. Not that he’d signed up.
Sometimes Fox wondered… if it had been a choice, would he have chosen to be a member of the Galactic Military? Or would he have chosen something else.
He pushed the thought from his mind. It didn’t matter. He’d meant what he said; everything he did was for the betterment of the Galactic Empire, of which he was now a part. And this mission would ensure that Senator Chuchi was able to continue to serve that Empire. Whatever form that may take. At any cost.
Even the cost of her own life.

Chapter 18 of the Star Wars fic "Order 65". The rest can be found here.
19 BBY, Coruscant, Coruscant Underworld
“And you trust this guy?” Cody asked, giving his surroundings an appraising look. Rusty tools - hopefully not the ones they’d be using in the procedure - hung from the walls, and everything looked outdated at best; unsafe at worst.
“He hasn’t sold us out yet.” Rex said by way of answer, which Cody took as a no. But then again, they didn’t seem able to trust anyone these days. Except for their own. And Cody had been pretty sure he was hallucinating them up until an hour ago, too.
Some part of him was still half expecting to turn around and find that Rex had vanished. He glanced over his shoulder. Rex was still there. He looked away again before his brother could catch him looking.
“So how does this work?”
Rex patted the little cot in the center of the room. “You lay down, he knocks you out, and we get the chip out. Simple.”
“Simple.” Cody stared at the cot and it’s many stains. Not the most sanitary environment for a surgery. “And how likely is it that it stays simple?”
“I’m not a protocol droid.” Rex said, moving to lean against a nearby table.
Cody tested the cot. It wobbled. At least one of the legs had been cut too short. “But you’ve done this before.”
“We’ve had problems a few times.” Rex admitted. “But what’s the alternative?”
Cody sat on the cot. There wasn’t one. “Tell him I’m ready.”
Rex gave him a long look. “Are you sure?”
“Let’s just get this over with.”
He disappeared out the door and returned a few moments later with the owner of their little back alley hospital; a burly Twi-Lek man missing half of one lekku. He pulled a pair of smudged glasses from one pocket and placed them almost delicately on his nose before turning to Rex.
“The usual?”
Rex nodded. The Twi-Lek opened a drawer and pulled out a syringe, filling it from a small bottle that sat on a table beside the cot. He tapped the bubbles out of it and gave Cody an expectant look.
“Arm?”
After a moment Cody rolled up his sleeve, offering the man his arm. The needle pinched slightly, and then whatever it was was in his system. Cody stared at Rex, studying his brother’s carefully controlled expression.
“I’ll be here when you wake up.” he said.
Cody meant to reply, but everything was receding, his surroundings blurring together like the stars did when you made the jump into hyperspace. He remembered the way they would reflect in General Kenobi’s eyes. The Jedi had always liked to watch the stars. He said he never got tired of it.
Cody never got tired of watching him.
As the world faded to black, Cody almost thought he heard Obi-Wan speaking to him, his voice whispering through the encroaching dark and lapping like quiet waves at the corners of his mind. Twin suns burned beneath his eyelids, their light blinding in the dark.
He saw them reflected in Obi-Wan’s eyes, their light illuminating his windswept hair like a halo, whipping around his head in the wind. He saw a sea of sand, stretching as far as the eye could see; dunes rising like mountains to pierce the sky. He felt the wind whipping sand against his face. And then Obi-Wan turned to him, away from the sunset, and their eyes met for a moment. The general’s brow furrowed, like he was seeing Cody, too.
And then the light from the twin suns became blinding, merging into a single lamp hanging above him, slightly obscured by Rex’s head as he leaned over Cody.
“Thank the Force.” his brother smiled as he opened his eyes.
Cody pushed himself upright, arms a little shaky. His head throbbed, faintly, as the world came back into focus. The Twi-Lek was in the corner, washing his hands. Cody squinted against the light.
“What did you give me?” he asked the man.
“Whatever I had on hand.” the Twi-Lek replied, not looking up.
Cody frowned. “Side effects?”
“Talking while you’re under isn’t normal, if that’s what you’re asking.”
Cody’s frown deepened and he slid off the cot only to find his legs shaky. Rex caught him as he stumbled.
“What did I stay?” Cody asked, taking a shaky step forward, eyes still trained on the Twi-Lek.
“You mumbled.”
“What did I say?”
The man finally turned to face him, giving Cody an appraising look. “You kept apologizing.”
Cody brushed past Rex and out into the street. It was raining, somewhere up above, and gutter water trickled slowly down the sides of the buildings to collect in stagnant puddles in the street. Cody leaned against the wall, head in his hands. After a moment he heard the door open and Rex joined him.
“Do you want to explain what that was?”
“I saw him.” Cody choked out.
Rex paused, then placed an arm around his shoulder. “It wasn’t your fault.”
“You don’t get it.” Cody looked up at him, smiling for the first time in what felt like years. “He looked different. Older. Scruffier. He’s alive, Rex.”
“Cody-”
“He’s alive.”
Rex gave him a long, appraising look. “Okay. Wouldn't be the first ghost you've seen today. So what do we do?"
