did they actually expect us to believe that Hera and Kanan hadn’t been married for like five years by the time of rebels season one
did they
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at how in the first one Hera just tucks a comforting hand around him and then the second one what do you mean they aren’t married or even a couple at this point and that they didn’t become a couple until season 4 I know I’m just talking season two right now but have we seen any of season one pick any episode you like out of season one and I can tell you an exact moment where they were very clearly an established relationship

Jk jk 🤣 But fr I was wondering
Me: Why was Sabine being trained by Ahsoka? There was never an indication that she had force-sensitivity!
Huyang: Out of all the thousands of padawans I have trained… Sabine sucks ass the most. She is not very force sensitive.
Me: Oh, thanks Huyang!

The Mechanic | Star Wars Rebels - Chapter 1 (on Wattpad)
https://www.wattpad.com/story/338667622-the-mechanic-star-wars-rebels
Revenge burns her insides, fuelling the fire inside, to the point where she will kill the Empire with her bare hands.
Revenge is all she has to live for. She lives to spite them.
What happens when the misfit Rebel crew gives her a new purpose and helps to reinstate her once strong moral compass?
Zeb and Kevras have a rocky start, both wanting to kill each other the first time they meet.
Will he be the one to help her live again?
props to dave filoni, this is just a fanfic

Star Wars Rebels Bechdel Test Rewatch- Season 2 Recap
Tumblr media
I’m all done with Season 2! I’m flying through this rewatch. This show is great in a binge watch. In terms of the Bechdel Test, Season 2 was a marked improvement. Let’s see how it did overall.
15 out of 22 episodes in Season 2 pass the Bechdel Test. This is up from 8 out of 15 episodes in Season 1. This is also more passing episodes than any single season of The Clone Wars which peaked at 11 passing episodes in Seasons 3 and 5.
The passing Season 2 episodes are: “The Siege of Lothal (Parts 1 and 2),’ ‘Always Two There Are,’ ‘Wings of the Master,’ ‘Blood Sisters,’ ‘The Future of the Force,’ ‘Legacy,’ ‘A Princess on Lothal,’ ‘The Protector of Concord Dawn,’ ‘Legends of Lasat,’ ‘The Call,’ ‘Homecoming,’ ‘Shroud of Darkness,’ ‘The Forgotten Droid,’ and ‘The Mystery of Chopper Base.’
The strongest episodes in terms of representation with 4 female named female characters with speaking roles each are ‘The Siege of Lothal (Part 1)’, ‘The Future of the Force,’ ‘Shroud of Darkness,’ and ‘The Mystery of Chopper Base.’  I terms of actual dialogue exchanged between women, I’d say ‘The Future of the Force’ was the strongest overall
There are 13 named female characters with speaking roles in Season 2, up quite a bit from the measly 4 we got in Season 1. By comparison, there are 29 named male characters with a speaking role in Season 2, which is only slightly up from 26 in Season 1. Of the 13 characters, 9 were new to the series. It’s also worth noting that 3 out of the 13 are killed before the end of the Season (Minister Tua, Deiser, and the Seventh Sister). Ahsoka also disappears at the end of the Season.
The characters who recurred the most frequently are:
Hera Syndulla- (20 Episodes)
Sabine Wren- (20 Episodes)
Ahsoka Tano (9 Episodes)
Seventh Sister (6 Episodes)
Ketsu Onyo (2 episodes)
Every episode in Season 2 featured at least 2 female characters with speaking roles. This is a big improvement from The Clone Wars. The only characters to appear in every episode were Ezra, Kanan, and Chopper.
Season 3 let’s goooooooo!

Thinking about Star Wars Rebels and Robin comics at the same time again, and thinking about similarities and parallels. Tim & Ezra feel like pretty distinct characters, but they’re both the baby of their group (at first), snarky, clever, they’re both way more forgiving than I am, though that feels like something where the characters’ personality was molded by the needs of the story; what the hell happens to the plot, if these two say, “Actually, screw this,” and leave permanently when they people they were supposed to be able to trust condescend to, hurt, or betray them?
So they have to be forgiving, because if they aren’t, everything falls apart. They have to be trusting, have to want to work with people, be part of a team, because they’re not in a solo-protagonist story, and sometimes that works out amazingly and sometimes it burns them badly.
The Bats don’t kill because that’s the rule of their series, while the Ghost Crew are in a rebellion and kill in most episodes, but the framing is so similar. The Mission is everything. The Mission is endless. You have to sacrifice for it. You have to have hope, you have to be hope. This is aimed at a younger audience, so the protagonist is young, so ignore how terrible the adults are by putting them in these situations. But even with that caveat, how much do we ignore? At what point do we say of the adults, even for this genre you are being an asshole.
(Hera would be Batman. She would.)
Sabine is our expert with guns & demolitions. She did everything her parents wanted, she was at the Imperial officers academy, and then it all went wrong and she found her line and she ran. Jason is our expert with guns & demolitions. He did everything his dad wanted, he was Robin, until it all went wrong and he got murdered, and he came back with a new line in the sand.
Give Tim & Ezra creepy old men with suspicious magical green water far too interested in making them their apprentice, coercing them into working together. Kill their mentors, shove time travel into the story.
Tim lures Harkness to his doom and Ezra looks to the Sith holocron for answers.
Ezra has to let his mentor go and ends the story lost but triumphant.
Tim gets his mentor back and comes home.

today's fun things researched for star wars fic:
1) chemical composition of a rose because i need to know how to break it down to the atomic level.
2) history of chess, related to shah-tezh (precursor to dejarik), an obvious play on the name of shatranj itself descended from chaturanga (which could be as old as the indus valley civilization, if gaming boards found in lothal* were used for such a game).
badly done on the naming front, tho, wendig. i can see you folklore etymologicized the 'sha' part of shatranj was for the 'shah' piece and went from there but the original a term means 'four hands' and refers to the divisions of the military (elephants, cavalry, chariots, infantry).
(there are too many types of chess)

Star Ware Rebels Bechdel Test Rewatch- 2x17 ‘The Honorable Ones’
Tumblr media
Plot
Zeb and Agent Kallus find themselves stranded on an icy moon of Geonosis after a failed Imperial ambush of the rebels. Bitter enemies, they must put aside their differences and work together in order to survive
Female Characters: 2
Hera Syndulla, Sabine Wren
Male Characters: 6
Zeb Orrelios, Alexsandr Kallus, Ezra Bridger, Kanan Jarrus, Rex, Kassius Konstantine
Droid Characters: 1
Chopper
Does it pass?
No, it does not pass. Hera and Sabine are featured pretty well in the first act of the episode, but they never speak to each other.
Were there Zeb and Kallus shippers before this episode or was this when they were born? I’m all for some gay representation so no hate there, I can’t quite get past the interspecies thing but who am I to kink shame anyone.
Seriously though, Kallus’ about-turn is one of my favorite things about the show. He is sympathetic for the first time here....and honestly he has been pretty fucking despicable up to this point. This is a really great episode for Zeb too. I love how he gets Kallus thinking about actually asking some questions.
I also totally forgot Geonosis is in this episode and that we get some Death Star lore. Attack of the Clones has not aged well for me, but I loved it when it came out and I’m always happy to see Geonosis.... and I was genuinely curious what happened to them after the war.
