Strengths, Weaknesses and Cards
Marvin and Jackie chat about strengths, and end up accidentally bringing up a weakness of Jackie's that no one has ever known. And Marvin makes damn sure that no one else finds out either.
This fanfic was suggested by one of my favorite anons, Shannon...Who had suggested it AGES AGO. So sorry for how freaking late this is, and I hope and pray that it's worth it. đ
Marvin collected his magic items and placed them in his magician bag. When everything was in order, Marvin fixed the mask on his face and adjusted his cape.Â
âWhatcha up to, magic man?â Someone said behind him.Â
Marvin yelped and turned around, before smiling a bit. âHi Jackie. Not much. What about you?â She as
âGot any good stories to tell me about saving people?â Marvin asked.Â
Jackie chuckled. âCanât you receive the same stories through the news?â Jackie asked.Â
âYeah, but you make them sound better.â Marvin admitted. âPlus, youâve got a great talk show voice.â Marvin added.Â
âOkay.â Jackie started narrating a story of how he saved a guy from falling to his death when his parachute didnât open properly. After trying and failing to physically open the parachute by force, Jackie quickly took it upon himself to carry the man slowly down to the safety of the ground. After helping the guy calm down from the previous anxiety of almost dying, Jackie got the victimâs address from his friend so that he could send him something later in the day.Â
âSo what were you gonna send him?â Marvin asked.Â
âI have no idea.â Jackie admitted. âSomething along the lines of âI hope youâve recovered well, and if life kicks you down, Call me up! Iâm likely in townâ, or something.â Jackie said.Â
Marvin chuckled. âThatâs some Dr. Seuss-level literature, right there.â he said with a smirk. Jackie chuckled. âThank you, Marvin.âÂ
Marvin smiled and looked around for a bit. âWhatâs the biggest thing youâve ever had to lift?â Marvin asked.Â
Jackie thought for a moment. âHmmmmâŚâ He rubbed his chin. âWell other than these MASSIVE BICEPSâŚâ Jackie joked, flexing his muscles jokingly.Â
Marvin rolled his eyes. âBut seriouslyâŚâ Marvin walked a bit closer. âWhatâs the heaviest thing youâve lifted?â Marvin asked.Â
Jackie thought for a bit longer. âI did have to save someone from getting crushed by a huge boulder once.â Jackie admitted.Â
Marvin widened his eyes. âWaitâŚreally? How big was it?â He asked.Â
âAbout 3,000 pounds.â Jackie admitted. âIt was difficult, but I eventually put it down on an empty field nearby.â Jackie admitted. âThere, I helped a bunch of people break it up into smaller chunks so they could move them better.â Jackie added.Â
Marvin looked at Jackie with starry-eyes. âWoooowâŚâ He mumbled.Â
Jackie tilted his head. âWhat?â He asked.Â
âYouâre so strong and brave! How did you get so strong in the first place?â Marvin asked.Â
Jackie chuckled. âWith help from the POWER OF AWESOMENESS!â Jackie declared.Â
â........No workouts? Dumbbells? Not even a weight or two?â Marvin asked.Â
Jackie shrugged his shoulders. âI do that too. I gotta stay strong somehow.â Jackie admitted.Â
Marvin smiled. âHow much can you lift in weights?â Marvin asked.Â
âOff adrenaline, I can lift 400 pounds in one go.â Jackie admitted. âBut with the adrenaline rushâŚI can lift between 600-650 pounds.â Jackie added.Â
âHoly-â Marvin quickly looked something up and dropped his jaw. âYou can bench press about as much as Dwayne Johnson can in one go!â Marvin reacted.Â
âHow much does The Rock bench press?â Jackie asked.Â
â400-500 pounds, according to an interview in 2021.â Marvin replied.Â
âDamnâŚâ Jackie muttered. âBut he worked hard for those muscles his whole life. He deserves the ability to bench press that much.â Jackie added.Â
â...Are you implying that you donât deserve to be able to lift 400-600 pounds?â Marvin asked.Â
âI donât work as hard as Dwayne Johnson doesâŚâ Jackie admitted. âThe reality isâŚI could be capable of lifting more than 650 pounds.â Jackie admitted. âButâŚI donât work my way up past that becauseâŚI need time to work on my mental health too.â Jackie explained.Â
âIsnât working out supposed to be good for your mental health?â Marvin asked.Â
âYeah, it isâŚwhen youâre not pushing yourself way beyond your limits to the point of over-exertion.â Jackie added. âPushing yourself is goodâŚbut over-exerting yourself makes your mental health worse.â Jackie added. âAnd franklyâŚIâm okay with how much I can lift right now. If I find something I canât lift while on the job, then Iâll work at being able to make lifting that thing easier on the arms and back.â Jackie explained further.Â
âFair enoughâŚâ Marvin admitted.Â
âPlusâŚIâm already afraid of over-exerting myself in front of thousands while doing my duties.â Jackie admitted.Â
âBecause evil people may see you have a weakness?â Marvin asked.Â
âMhmâŚâ Jackie admitted. âWhichâŚI doâŚBut I donât want other people finding out and taking advantage of it.â Jackie added.Â
âOhâŚâ Marvin walked up and pulled out his deck of cards. He spread them out in a fan, and smiled. âTake a card.â Marvin told him.Â
Jackie raised an eyebrow and chuckled. âReally? A magic trick right now?â Jackie asked.Â
Marvin rolled his eyes with a smile. âJust do it.â He told him.Â
Jackie sighed and took a card from the middle of the deck and looked at it. But the moment he looked at itâŚHe widened his eyes and blushed a small bit. âU-UhâŚâ Jackie mumbled.Â
âWhat?â Marvin asked. âWaitâŚâ Marvin searched through his deck of cards quickly. âI didnât leave the jokers in the deck again, did I?â Marvin muttered out loud.Â
âDuhude, youâre evil.â Jackie said, showing him the card.Â
Marvin leaned in slightly and looked at the card. Reading it, Marvin widened his eyes and chuckled. âOhâŚHahaha!â Marvin giggled. âI forgot I had that card in there!â Marvin admitted, taking it from Jackie. âSorryâŚthatâs embarrassing.â Marvin put the hand-written blank card into his pocket.Â
Jackie looked down, blushing even more as he was unable to stop thinking about the cardâs little question. It was such a simple question, butâŚit still felt overwhelmingly embarrassing to admit it.Â
âWhat?â Marvin asked. âSomething wrong?â He asked next.Â
Marvin widened his eyes and shook his head. âNo no no, sorry! I-...â Jackie bit his lip and attempted to hide his bashfulness. But alasâŚit was fruitless.Â
âOh! Is it the card?â Marvin asked. âYou donât need to answer it.â Marvin admitted. âHeck, I can just forget about it if youâd prefer.â Marvin added.Â
The superhero looked down, biting his lip. âYes.â Jackie replied softly.Â
âYes, you want to forget about it?â Marvin clarified. Jackie looked up with widened eyes. âNo! Donât forget about it.â Jackie told him. âI meantâŚYesâŚâ Jackie started. â-ToâŚTo the cardâs question.â Jackie admitted.Â
Marvin widened his eyes slightly and raised his eyebrows. WaitâŚWas THEE Jackieboy ManâŚwho didnât want anyone to know his weaknessâŚtelling him his weakness? Marvin slowly pulled out the card again, and read it again.Â
[Are you ticklish?]Â
Marvin looked at Jackie with a shy smile. âYouâŚfeel comfortable admitting thatâŚto me?â Marvin asked.Â
Jackie slouched over, rubbing his right arm with his left hand. âIâŚThink soâŚâ Jackie admitted.Â
Marvin smiled a bit more and put the card back into his pocket again. âDo you wanna leave your answer as that? OrâŚâ Marvin raised his arms up and wiggled them a bit. âCan IâŚâ Marvin muttered in a higher-pitched voice.Â
Jackie couldnât help the giddy giggles that left his mouth. âYeheheah, sure.â He replied. âGoho ahead.â He replied.Â
Marvin walked up and was about to plant his hands onto Jackieâs sides firstâŚbut then he paused. Marvin thought for a moment, andâŚbrought his hands back. âHold on.â He said. Marvin began to close the blinds and the curtains in the living room before shutting off his phone and placing it upside down so it couldnât record anything from the front. âI assume you want me to make sure no one else sees this?â Marvin explained.Â
Jackie couldnât help the warm, fuzzy feeling that filled his body. Marvin was really taking the time to make sure no one else finds out about his one weakness. It was very thoughtful and considerate of himâŚÂ
âOkay.â Marvin turned on the main living room light and gently pushed Jackie onto the couch, before cracking his knuckles. âLetâs see what youâre made of.â Marvin said before placing his hands onto Jackieâs sides. âFirst off: Are your sides ticklish?â He asked, before squeezing them a bit.Â
Jackie gasped and quickly brought his arms against his own upper chest, guffawing and pulling his legs up slightly. âGAHA! Hahahaha- Yehes! Ahaha lihihittle bihit.â Jackie admitted.Â
Marvinâs smile began to show teeth. This was really happeningâŚMarvin was actually tickling the world-famous Jackieboy Man right now! How could this be happening right now?! Marvin quickly let go of Jackieâs sides so he could skitter his fingers on the same spots very softly. âDo softer tickles get you-âÂ
Jackie squeaked and curled into a little ball, kicking his feet like a little kid short fits of proper laughter left his mouth. âHAHAhahahehehehe! Yehehehes, thehehehey dohoho!â Jackie admitted. âIhihitâs wohorse ihif you-â âAh ah ah~â Marvin stopped tickling and placed his index finger on Jackieâs lips. âNoooo spoilers. I wanna find all your ticklish spots on my own.â Marvin told him.Â
Jackie smiled a bit more and removed Marvinâs finger from his lips. âOkay, okay.â He replied. âJustâŚplease donât make me wait in anticipation.â Jackie pleaded softly.Â
âOkay!â Marvin replied right before tickling the lower ribs. âHowâs this spot?â He asked rhetorically.Â
Jackie threw his head back and let out a strong fit of cackly laughter. âBAHAHAHAhahahahaha! VEHEHERY TICKLIHIhihish!â Jackie replied.Â
âI can see that!â Marvin reacted. âBut what about the rest of your ribs?â Marvin asked as he moved his fingers very slowly up the manâs rib cage.Â
Jackieâs laughter didnât seem to go up in volume. But it certainly did go up in octaves! Every pair of tickled ribs seemed to make Jackieâs laughter go up a couple notes. And with the jumping laughter, came more and more wiggles from Jackie! In the span of 4 ribs on either side, Jackie had gone from tightened arms against his chest, to flapping his arms like a tense bird.Â
It was around this time that Marvin had begun to see Jackie in a whole new light. Though seeing Jackie laugh at a joke or a reference was enjoyable enough, seeing Jackie cackle his head off while wriggling under himâŚwas a whole new level of entertainment. And as of right nowâŚMarvin was one of the only ones who was experiencing this side of Jackie!Â
âOHOHO GOHOHOSH- WAHAITDONâTGOHIGHER-â Jackie gasped as Marvinâs fingers touched down against his armpits. Jackie threw his head back and let out a strong, almost deafening scream! âNAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA! AAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!â Jackie shouted with laughter as he squeezed his arms against his sides to stop the fingers in their tracks.Â
âOoooooh!â Marvin reacted. âNow THIS I gotta test out!â Marvin declared as he grabbed Jackieâs arm and placed it above his head.Â
Marvin started with one finger just tracing up and down the hollow of the armpit, which made Jackie giggle manically and whine a little bit. âEEehehehehehehe! Ehehehevihihil!â Jackie yelled in a much higher-pitched voice.Â
Marvin laughed at his reaction. âI still canât believe no one else has found out about this yet!â Marvin reacted before starting to very lightly flutter his fingers in his exposed armpit. âAnd Iâm guessing you want to keep it that way?â Marvin guessed. Jackie giggled and nodded his head. âYehehehess! Thahahat wohohould be nihihihice.â the superhero replied.Â
âEy ey, captain! Marvin the Magnificent shall keep his lips zipped.â Marvin replied as he stopped tickling to salute the hero.Â
Jackie had taken the break generously, breathing in and out somewhat heavily. Though the hero had a lot of endurance (Itâs somewhat required in order to be a hero), Jackie wasnât exactly used to tickling as a form of cardio. He was more used to heavier cardio like sprinting, flying, and martial arts. But tickling?! That was a completely foreign concept to his body.Â
âDid you need a break?â Marvin asked.Â
Jackie nodded his head and let out a deep breath. âYeheah. Thanks.â He replied. âIhiâŚI havenât been tickled in yearsâŚDecades, actually.â Jackie admitted.Â
Marvin widened his eyes. âWait, really?!â Marvin asked. âNot even by friends?â He asked.Â
Jackie shook his head. âThe most relationships you ever make when youâre saving a city of peopleâŚis acquaintances.â Jackie admitted. âYou and Chase are the closest friends Iâve ever had.â He told him.Â
Marvin couldnât help the bittersweet look that filled his face. He never realized that Jackie struggled so much to have deeper friendships. He knew that he could make friends easily, thanks to his job. ButâŚdevelop them into something more? That was a whole new thing entirely. Marvin bit his lip as he played with his fingers for a moment. âHey JackieâŚâ Marvin called softly.Â
âYeah?â Jackie replied.Â
âDoâŚDo you want a hug?â Marvin asked.Â
Jackie widened his eyes and slowly started to smile while he sat up. âI would love one!â He replied before hugging Marvin first.Â
Marvin took a moment to process the shock of being hugged first, but quickly closed his eyes and hugged him back. Marvin also discovered that Jackie had a really strong, secure hug. It made his hug feel more comforting and caringâŚto the point where Marvin refused to let go when Jackie started to pull away the first time. But Jackie quickly smiled and closed his arms again, continuing the hug for Marvinâs sake. Even Jackie had to admit that the hug felt really comforting.Â
Eventually, Marvin let go and squeezed Jackieâs shoulders a couple times. âFeeling better?â Marvin asked.Â
Jackie chuckled. âWhy are you asking me?! You were the one who wanted the hug.â Jackie mentioned.Â
âTrueâŚbut you looked like you needed it.â Marvin told him.Â
âYeahâŚI guess I did need it.â Jackie soon admitted.Â
âAre you two gonna kiss now? OrâŚâ Some voice nearby said to the boys.Â
Marvin yelped and turned to look at the voice. âWHAT THE-?!â
Meanwhile Jackie had widened his eyes and looked over at the voice. âWho- OhâŚHi Chase.â Jackie said.Â
ââŚHiâŚâ Chase replied awkwardly before taking an overly long sip of his tea. ââŚdid I interrupt something?â Chase asked.Â
Marvin blushed slightly before letting go of Jackieâs shoulders. âNo.â Marvin replied.Â
âOkay.â Chase walked to the kitchen and opened the fridge.Â
Jackie looked at Chase for a moment, before smirking at Marvin. Marvin tilted his head. What was the superhero thinking? But right as Marvin was about to ask, Jackie pointed to the card deck in Marvinâs pocket. âCan I try the magic trick on you?â Jackie asked.Â
Marvin smiled a bit and pulled out his cards, handing them to Jackie. âHave fun.âÂ
Jackie smirked and spread the cards out like a fan. âPick a card, any card.â Jackie declared.Â
Marvin smiled and took a card. But when he looked at it, he started tittering and covered his mouth. âWohohow, not bad there, Red.â Marvin teased.Â
Jackie smiled and put the cards away before pointing to Chase. âRevenge?â Jackie offered.Â
Marvin smirked and nodded as he took the card, put them into the sleeve, and put them back into his pocket. âRevenge.âÂ
Marvin and Jackie took off running to Chase, cornering him in the kitchen. While Jackie used his flying ability to hold Chaseâs arms in the air, Marvin took the time to target every one of his tickle spots for about 5-10 minutes each. And to be extra rude and annoying, Marvin even took his time telling and showing Jackie which specific ticklish spots created specific sounds, as well as what finger techniques worked on each specific area. And the last words that anyone from a 10 foot radius could hear was Chaseâs laughter with the words âYOU GUYS SUCK!â Amidst his laughter.Â

You know what actually. Donna is the only correct companion because if the Doctor invited me to travel with them, you bet your ass I'd be showing up to the TARDIS with suitcase after suitcase full of stuff. If they're gonna be throwing me into life or death situations every day I'm gonna need to fall asleep in a carefully crafted pile of plushies to decompress. Does the TARDIS have 7 pairs of the exact same jeans that I wear every day that I could change into after getting covered in space slime? Perhaps but I'm not about to risk it. Planet of the Hats, I'd also be ready. Does the Doctor even know what a toothbrush is
#dumb text posts#how do you expect me to function as a person without my phone charger and my switch and an umbrella and a multitool and at least 5 pens and#also don't @ me about this i know rose also canonically goes back to jackie to do her laundry so she also keeps her own stuff on the tardis#but that's not the point i'm making here

MARI â summer prompts đ
A/N: Iâm not gonna hold youâŚI was not fw her at the beginning of the series but she definitely grew on me! The little ⨠in me wanted me to write for Miss. Mari with a hint of enemies to lovers so here goes nothing. Please donât let me flop, or Iâll completely remove myself from the fandom lmao jk.
PROMPTS from this list: 1.) setting up a slip and slide in their backyard + 2.) bonfire on the beach.
WARNINGS: probably language, guns, high schoolers being catty? + slow-burn?
ŕź ŕł ŕź ŕł ŕź ŕł ŕź ŕź ŕł ŕź ŕź ŕł ŕź
[July, 1995]
âWho the fuck invited her?â Mari glowers over her shoulder, after approaching her friends and teammatesâwell the teammates that she considered her friends anyways.
Itâs Gen and Melissa who immediately follow Mariâs trail of eyesight to see the fresh meat on the team, Akilah and their ex-teammate, Cosima Chandoo stepping onto the patio.
Gen snickers, âsheâs obviously Akilahâs plus one because we sure as hell didnât invite that traitor.â
Melissa shrugged her shoulders, red cup in her hand as she took a sip and then swallowed, âwasnât me. Word travels fast.â
Which was true, what was supposed to be a simple yellowjackets team only exclusive party, turned into maybe forty or more people in this open backyard.
âIt was probably whacky misty,â Gen adds, lifting her chin towards the curly blonde who sat, awkwardly nodding her head along, as if she was in on the conversation between Lottie and Taissa.
Mari deeply exhaled as her eyes briefly close shut. The mere presence of Cosima being here, at her house on this humid day in July honestly frustrated her. She wasnât allowed to be here.
âYou could always kick her out,â Melissa suggested, âit is your house after all.â
âWhich was actually supposed to be at yours.â Mari snapped at the blonde who raised her hands In defense.
Melissa frowned, âHey, how was I supposed to know my aunt and perv uncle were coming up for a surprise pit stop?â
âWho the fuck makes a pit stop in New Jersey?â Gen comments.
âClearly they do!â
âWhere are they from again?â
âPennsylvania.â
ââŚthat makes sense. How sad.â Gen mockingly placed her hand on Melissaâs shoulder who snorted and playfully shrugged her hand away from her.
Mari was already stomping away from their conversation, face not only warm from the sun rays but also from the sight of Cosima who seemed to be all smiles with Laura Lee and Akilah.
âOh hey, Mari!â Akilah waves as Mari pushes a smile onto her lips.
Her eyes flicker between the group of girls for a moment, between Laura Lee twirling her signature cross necklace, to Akilahâs chipper smile but still unease in her posture trying to figure Mari out, and finally Cosimaâs comfortability in showing her face.
âCosima was just telling us thereâs a bonfire down at Huntingney Grounds,â Laura Lee tells the dark haired girl who kept her heated stare on the heart-shaped afro-picked girl, âI probably wonât be attending after this since I have a curfew but itâs a cool idea to end the day.â
No, the cool idea was having everyone here at her house enjoying the slip and slide she spent a good chunk of time putting together this morning by herself, while Gen and Melissa ate away the snacks they were supposed to set up.
Mari swallowed her irritation, âI know about the bonfire already.â
âRight because Danny was blabbing about it down at Wawaâs?â Cosima finally spoke, her usual hoarse tone made Mariâs eardrums itch.
Mari pushed her tongue into her cheek at this, âwhy would I know about Dannyâs whereabouts?â
Cosima blinked, âAre you not dating?â
âWe broke up. Weeks agoâŚand you would know that if you were still part of this team, which youâre not so.â Mari was smug as she said this.
Akilah tried to ease the tension, âwell I invited Cosima since I didnât want to show up alone. Is it just me or do you hate entering spaces by yourself? Itâs just super awkward. I thought it would be okay?â
âWhy? Youâre her replacement.â Mari gritted, confused at Akilahâs thinking as the brown-skinned girl appeared almost like a gapping fish; while she looked at Cosima and Laura Lee for some sort of help.
Cosima smiled sweetly at Mari, hands clasped in front of her, âAnd youâre still a bitch.â
Laura Lee cleared her throat then, âGirlsâŚletâs just continue enjoying this lovely day without the foul language please! Must this truly be a debate when weâre all on the same team?â
âBut weâre not,â she interrupted with a point between herself and Cosima, ânot anymore.â Mari was quick to continue jabbing at Cosima who simply sighed, âThis is a team members event only and Cosima here quit on us a long time ago.â
âYeah because I wanted to break three bones in my leg, which caused me to further suffer from a severed artery that also left me with a permanent limp. Do you hear yourself Maribela?â
âDonât call me that!â Mari hissed while Cosima scoffed.
Cosima knew how much Mari hated going by her full government name, since âMariâ sounded so much better and it was short, simple, and cute. Sure it sounded different coming from Cosimaâs lips, compared to her veteran father who commonly barked her name and gaveâsome might say, cruel orders around the house.
Cosima knew bits of this and still insisted doing so, just to get underneath her skin. Just like Mari knew quitting the team wasnât something Cosima really wanted to do. Who really wanted to suffer a injury so bad in front of the entire school? Which allowed further permanent damage to be placed on not only your body but mentally? Yet here Mari was throwing old salt in Cosimaâs wounds and she really wished she could help it.
Wished she didnât have so much hate building in her heart butâŚmajority of the time the words were flying out of her mouth before Mari can even process them.
No the two girls werenât the stars of the team but the extracurricular activity was a bonding moment. They werenât the best of friends before the team or even on the team but they were nowhere near as bad as they are now.
What changed you might ask?
Oh you knowâŚA shared kiss in Cosimaâs bedroom, had Mariâs mind all scrambled. (yes she was still very much with Danny at the time this transpired unfortunately!) Just to break apart right before Cosimaâs mother came to the door, completely oblivious and informing Mari that her father was here to take her home. They never got the chance to talk about what happened that night because Mari decided to avoid Cosima like the plague in the hallways. She fought even harder on the soccer field and she only allowed herself to really feel crappy about it after seeing Cosima in shriveled up pain during the last two minutes of the game; when a thunderstorm rained havoc on them all.
Itâs not like Mari didnât feel like shit right after it happened in the first place! She couldnât find the words to say as she collected her things, mustering up a half-assed wave as she quickly fled Cosimaâs bedroom. She was completely confused because sheâs only liked boys like Dannyâand that wasnât much to go off of. What was she supposed to do about her pretty teammate with a puff of tied back hair that floated behind her just from her simply standing? What was she supposed to do when she started to like the crooked smile that sat on the corner of her bow-shaped lips that tasted like figs? What was she supposed to do when she felt her intense stare from behind her in trigonometry?
What was Mari supposed to do about the girl that threw her for a loop? She remembers watching Cosima in pain and wanting to hold her hand but there were a lot of people crowding her and a lot of blood she couldnât stomach. However that didnât stop Mari from shoving some teammates out of her way so that she could keep her eyes on Cosima, hoping that her stare this time could provide some comfort.
She wasnât sure if it ever did.
Then came the requests during English to make your own personalized cards for Cosimaâs heavy healing journey and Mari knew she wouldnât write something so basic. So lame. She had to do something better than anyone in their year, a huge card made from purple construction paper where she swirled and curled out Cosimaâs name on the front of the page. While the inside she filled with lots of glitter and wrote her message in a pink gel pen.
That didnât exactly feel like enough so with some of the money from Mariâs piggy bank, she went down to the crafts store to make a small goody bag. She grabbed some things she had a feeling Cosima would like, like shiny stickersâshe originally wanted to get her a TLC poster but it wasnât in the budget, bubbalicious gum, fun-dip, a piĂąa colada ďżźlip smacker, a neon translucent phone enamel pin, a bouncy eye-ball she could throw at her wall, a feather pen, and a mini beanie baby that she could add to her collection on her bookshelves.
Mari paid attention to Cosimaâs bedroom and that night they shared, so she hoped her goody bag made her feel somewhat better. Like maybe she could make up for running away with trying to ease Cosimaâs painful moments.
âOkayâŚthen stop talking shit about me and the team and weâll all have a good time, got it?â Cosima stated, arms crossed as she stared down at Mari who trailed her wide-set eyes from Cosimaâs glowing copper muscular arms to meet her stare.
Mari dipped her head, finding herself, as corny as it sounds, suddenly lost in the hues of Cosimaâs eyesâwhich was better than staring at her lips of course! It seemed as if she was tongue tied as Cosima gave a tight-smile before glancing back at Akilah who was still shocked this was happening.
The slightly taller girl with a head full of hair, walked by Mari who allowed it for a couple of seconds, before she also turned to Cosimaâs retreating form, âyeah, Iâll fall backâŚas soon as you leave my house so I wonât have to see your face anymore, traitor.â
âMari!â Laura Lee exclaimed but Mari held up a hand to silence the blonde.
Cosima stood with her back to Mari and let out a humorless laugh. It was the same cycle over and over between the two and frankly, she was getting tired of this.
âHey everybody! Thereâs a bonfire down at Huntingney Grounds if youâre interested.â Cosima called out to everyone, gaining their attention over some pop track.
The sun was just beginning to burn a deep orange, fading below the blue skies, which means the air would start to cool soon. It took about thirty minutes to get out to the park and longer by foot or moped, like the purple one Cosima commonly drove.
This new information got everyone talking which made Cosima shrug at Mari over her shoulder. Soon she brushed by Mari and whispered, âIâll see myself out now. Later.â
Mari wasnât sure if she wanted to mess Cosima up or kiss her in that moment. Maybe both.
Mari can see from the corner of her eye, some of her classmates and even the yellowjackets began to collect their things!
âWhoa! The best time to do a slip and slide is when the night falls. You guys donât have to leave yet.â Mari spoke to a classmate who simply shrugged and carried on.
Shauna answered, âThe mosquitoes also get bad when the sunsets and Iâm allergic so, I pick the bonfire one hundred percent butâŚthis was fun so thanks.â
Mark scoffed at the brunette before her eyes settled on someone else, âJackie, not you too.â
âJeffâs gonna be there and I heard Danny too.â The large eyed leader winks at Mari who canât help but to scrunch up her nose.
âI donât care about Danny!â
Lottie mutters as she makes her way by, âWhy because heâs banging Stephanie now?â
Nat snickers, joint pressed in between her lips as she simply shrugs at the glare Mariâs sending her way, smoothing her damp fried bleach blonde hair back as she also makes her exit.
âOkay you know what, all of you can get out then. See if I care!â
âIâll stay and help you clean up.â Misty offered, making Mariâs icy stare turn to the glasses wearing teen.
âOhh no, especially you. Get the hell outta here!â Mari pointed at the front as Misty flinched and began to speed walk away.
âYouâve got a nice way of treating your teammates Mari, really! Keep up the superb job and you may just be our new captain soon.â Vanessaâs voice dripped with sarcasm as she made her way by with a laughing Taissa.
Who also sent double thumbs at Mari.
Which earned both girls a nice middle finger.
She couldnât believe everyone just decided to bail on her right now! All thanks to Cosima.
That bitch.
âUh Mari?! Your dadâs back.â Melissa informed, now standing by the patio, hand scooping up another cheese doodle.
Mariâs eyes increased in size, bigger than Jackieâs as she began waving her hands around at the remaining guest. âEverybody out! Run!â
âRun? Canât we just powerwalk our escape?â Taissa asked, arms crossed behind her head.
Gen immediately shook her head, tossing the red cup to the side, âyou havenât met Mariâs dad, heâs crazy! You better run.â
The way she was whispering was almost as if Mari wasnât in ear-shot. The panic on her face was evident but Gen was definitely not the person to go to as a source of comfort as she fled the scene.
As the older man approached the screen door, Melissa let out a scream as she took off running around the side of the house, orange puff long forgotten in the grass. Mari felt her heartbeat in her ears, her breathing halting, the sun still warm on her skin. Her dark eyes settled on her dad, yanking the door to the side, shotgun in one hand as he stepped out onto the patio, surveying his sorta trashed backyard.
âHoly shit! Is he gonna shoot us?â Vanessaâs eyes were now wide as well.
Mari swallows the lump in her throat as she almost waits for her dadâs eyes to find herâs.
Taissa shoved Mari forward to lead the way as she mumbles, âWeâre not sticking around to find out. Go.â
She stumbles a bit, being pulled from her trance as she focuses on getting her legs to operate correctly, stepping into a light jog with the two girls that followed after her, eyes occasionally glancing at the wild man at the door.
âMaribela! I see you! Get your ass over here, now.â
With tears burning her eyes, Mari dares a glance at the manâalmost stopping but itâs Vanessaâs turn to grip her wrist and drag her along.
âMaribela!â The man continues to yell, gun aiming and ready to shoot.
And so he does, directly at the neighbors trashcan, by the girls ankles; setting off the neighbor dogs to bark at the noise.
âWe can run now.â Taissa yelled, now leading the way as the three girls ran at full speed to the front of the ranch styled home and to her pale gray Nissan stanza.
Vanessa shouts, âOpen it!â
âIâm trying!â Taissa shrills, finally getting her key into the door before she flings the door open to mash on some buttons, âItâs open!â
Which is enough for Mari and Vanessa to pull on the doors and hop in. Itâs seconds before Taissa starts the car and pulling away from the curb and far from Mariâs household.
She looks back, seeing her father standing in the middle of the street as she retreats and she knows that this is only temporary.
âSo are we gonna talk about what just happened or?â Vanessa pries as she peeks at Taissa and then stares hard at Mari, who just hopes she doesnât start bawling in the backseat.
Taissa can see Mari has her attention on the moving scenery of the city and the way the palm of her hand is pressing into her mouth while the other is clenched is enough for the situation be dropped. Although it seems like Vanessa isnât ready to let it go, saying this exactly to the driving long haired curly teen, the look Taissa sends the redhead is abundant for Vanessa to take the hint as it dawns on her that this is Mariâs normal.
The drive to the park is tense and the radio, which Vanessa has taken complete control over, only seems to be talking, which the girls were not! instead of playing music. She begins to search Taissaâs car for CDâs and at least some cassette tapes but comes up short much to her disappointment.
The girls at the front of the car have a bit of a bicker at that but eventually quit down to either listen to radio hosts or static. The static ended up being more soothing to Mari than the voices, believe it or not.
By the time the girls pull up to the park, the sky bled navy and the fireflies flickered yellow. The air smelled like fresh grass and burning wood as a slight breeze picks up now.
Mariâs holding the sleeves of her golden mustard yellowjackets hoodie, almost peering around to make sure her father didnât trail after them in his pickup truck. Vanessa lightly nudged her with her shoulder, making Mari take a sharp inhale.
âHeyâŚletâs go.â Vanessa gently suggests as they circled around the car to where Taissa stands.
Taissa is eyeing Mari and Mari almost wants to snap something at her but the look in Taissaâs brown eyes is not judgment. Vanessa leaves the two behind as she almost prays thereâs more booze at the bonfire after what they just witnessed.
Taissa falls into step with Mari, heading up the incline on the sidewalk to down the hills where the bonfire sat.
ââŚthanks for getting me out of there.â Mari says quietly, âandâŚIâm sorry he shot at us.â
Taissa nodded at the younger girl, âDonât mention it.â
And Mari waits for Taissa to fill the air with questions such as, âIs he always like that?â âHow can you live with someone like that?â âHas he ever actually hurt you?â
But they donât come as Taissa only offers a small smile in understanding. She knows that if Mari wanted to speak further on it, she would. It was clear she was holding onto a lot and maybe she wasnât the person she needed to talk to about this and that was okay too.
Taissaâs just glad no one died tonight.
Mari finds a empty spot on a log, pressing her elbows into her bare thighs as she looks around the park. Everyone is mostly spread out, a few faces she recognizes ďżźfrom school and her slip and slide and others that probably went to the community college here. She sees Jackie sneaking off with Jeff hand in hand, Gen seems to be dancing away with some guy sheâll ask her about later, Melissa is laid out on the floor in front of a log with her trucker hat covering her face, Shauna is seated on that log behind her almost glaring at the fireâprobably pissed Jackie just ditched her, and lastly Mari sees Danny with his hand resting on Stephanieâs hip by a tree as sheâs all cuddled up to him.
It makes Mari want to vomit at the sight. She thought she was in love with Danny but honestly he was just there to pass the time outside of school and soccer. There wasnât much of connection there in the first place, he was just this goofy kid that was good at Math and had beautiful teeth.
There was no spark when they kissed but it felt nice to have him hold her and just to say that she had a boyfriend. That was about it to be honest.
She turns to her left then, spotting Cosima staring right at her. Mari rolls her eyes then, turning her attention back to the fire, assuming she probably looked like Shauna right about now.
A wave of something floral but citrusy hints her nostrils as someone sits down next to her.
âWhat do you think youâre doing?â Mari frowns as Cosima plops down beside her.
Cosima doesnât answer right away but when she does, it doesnât ease Mariâs irritation, âjust sitting and enjoying the fire, what does it look like?â
âYeah okay but you can go back and do that over there,â Mari huffs, sneaking glances at Cosima who was finally able to hold her stare.
âNah, I think I like this spot much better.â
âBecause youâre pissing me off?â
âA little bit,â Cosima smirks while Mari canât help but to breath out a laugh of her own, âitâs kinda fun.â
âIâm sure it is for you,â Mari responds, âRuining my party just to come to thisâŚsnooze fest instead.â
Cosima tilts her head to the side eyeing Mariâs semi-dry hair that waved at the ends due to the sprinklers, âyour party was dying down anyway and Akilah and I saw your dad earlier before we got to your place.â
âWhat? Did he say something to you two?â Mari rushed out, suddenly worried.
Cosima shook her head, âNo he didnât see us. I knew he would be heading back home soon.â
Mari listened to what Cosima was saying to her just then. It sounded like she actually looked out for her in a sense and Mari wasnât sure how she should feel about that. So she broke eye contact to stare back at the swirling flames.
The teen felt something placed on her kneecap while she dazed off into the flames. Blinking she glanced down to see a cube of something in a wrapper. Mari was hit with the sweet smell of strawberries as she brought it up to her eye sight before she looked over at Cosima who winked.
âBubbalicious?â
âUh huh.â
âWatermelon is obviously better.â Mari comments but that doesnât stop her from unraveling the pink gum to toss into her mouth.
Cosima snorts, âyou would say that.â
The small laughter lines appear by Mariâs lips then as she chewed and Cosima canât help but to focus on them. How they curve into their own miniature smiley faces by the sides of her lips and her little mole on the left. She almost wants to place her fingertips on them, liking that there was a smile on Mariâs face for once tonight. But she doesnât. She doesnât want to be further rejected.
âWell you try and enjoy your evening, Mari.â Cosima pushes herself up from the log.
Standing, Cosima briefly stares at the fire for a moment but also wants to enjoy the company of Mari for a few seconds moreâno matter how much they clashed.
Just as Cosima turns to begin limping away, Mari lightly reaches a hand out to press her clammy fingertips against Cosimaâs warm ones. The touch is short but enough for Mari to feel Cosima begin to squeeze her fingertips back.
Cosima stared down at Mari, awaiting for what she says next.
âIâll try my best,â Mari whispers, dark eyes almost shining as they look up at Cosima, ââŚYou have a better one.â
âWe both know I will.â Cosima teases while Mari rolls her eyes and letâs her hand rest back in her lap.
And with that itâs Mariâs turn to watch her old teammate walk away.
Once seated, Mari canât help but to keep her eyes on Cosima, ember flames illuminating her skin as she chats away with a smiling Akilah, who notices Mariâs stare. When Cosima turns to catch Mariâs eyes again, she canât help but to ponder if they could be something betterâŚtogether.

Deaf Representation in Media (Image Description Included)
Full Disclosure, I am a Hearing woman so all information in these slides are from online Deaf resources (I linked below), but if anything is inaccurate or needs tweaking please let me know! Iâve also never written out the Image Descriptions so please let me know if I need to fix anything!
[ID 1: Four hands using ASL to spell out âDeaf.â The background has various still images of people signing âI love you,â Fingerspelling âHawkeye,â and a title card from a show reading âThe Boy from 6B.â
Then reads âRepresentation in Mediaâ / end ID1]
[ID 2: Stock Photo of mother and child with Hearing Aids.
There is a statistical chart in the bottom left corner that reads âNew Study of Hearing Loss among US adults aged 20 to 69. Who has hearing loss? 14% of adults aged 20-69 in 2011-2012. Prevalence of hearing loss has declined slightly from about 16% in 1999-2004.â
The caption around the picture reads âWhat is Representation? Representation is the portrayal of another culture or people/person in media that is done respectfully and not stereotyped.
Why is Deaf representation so important? Approximately 48 million Americans have some degree of hearing loss (Hearing Loss Association of America). Good Deaf and Hard of Hearing Representation can be very validating to those in the community because they can see themselves in these characters. Accurate representation can be educational for people outside the Deaf community to learn more about it in a non-stereotyped way.â / end ID 2]
[ID 3: Photo of the National Association of the Deaf logo.
The caption over the logo reads â According to the National Association for the Deaf (NDA) proper media portrait of deafness should include:
The production should be accessible. Clear cooperation between Deaf individuals and all media personnel, interpreters, etc.
All terminology, when referring to Deaf or Hard of Hearing people, should be up-to date and not offensive.
All descriptions of Deaf individuals should be based on the peopleâs personalities and not be patronizing by including terms like they are âovercoming,â âinspiring,â âspecial,â etc.
Media should listen to the knowledge and ideas from those in the Deaf or Hard of Hearing communities, and not from those outside the community (even if meant well).
Media should make conscious steps to work with the other groups a Deaf individual might be part of such as other cultures, religions, ethnicities, sexualities, etc.
All media should be made accessible and available for all Deaf and Hard of Hearing folks.
/End ID 3]
[ID 4: In the Background is the poster for the movie âCoda.â Four people are looking into the camera and holding up the sign for âI love you.â
The caption over the poster reads âRecently, there has been an increase in the general publicâs interest in Deaf stories with the success of the Movie âCODAâ (2021)... But we still have a long way to go with Deaf RepâŚâ /end ID 4]
[ID 5: The image shows two sheets taken from the Deaf West theater. One shows What TV genres see the most and least Deaf representation? While the other is on what types of Deaf characters have hearing audiences seen represented in media.
At the top the caption reads âAccording to NRG and the Deaf West TheaterâŚâ
The caption below the charts reads âDepending on the type or genre of media an individual consumes may determine how much exposure they get to seeing Deaf people represented.
Even within the already small portion of Deaf people represented, there are even smaller subsections of minorities shown less in the Media.â /end ID 5]
[ID 6: The screen shot is of the NRG webpage article âNRG and Deaf West Theatre release roundtable film on Deaf representationâ
The caption above the image reads âLinked below is a video from NRG and The Deaf West Theater where they are interviewing Deaf people in the creative industry (Writers, directors, actors, ect.) talking about their experiences with and the state of Deaf representation in todayâs media. https://www.nrgmr.com/our-thinking/entertainment/nrg-and-deaf-west-theatre-release-roundtable-film-on-deaf-representation/â /end ID 6]
[ID 7: Caption at the top reads âGood examples of Deaf representation!â
Below we have pictures of 4 different Deaf characters. On the top left is Theo from Only Murders in the Building. Top right is Jackie from Craig of the creek. Bottom left is Marvel comics Hawkeye. And on the bottom left is Daphne from Switched at birth. /end ID 7]
[ID 8: Caption at the top reads âMy personal favorite⌠Linda Bove (Sesame street from 1971-2002)â
Below the caption are 16 pictures of Linda throughout her time while on sesame street. Mostly she is with her co-star Bob. /end ID 8]

in honor of it being sunday, i still firmly believe that jackie estacado would be the only anti-hero / superhero that barton would currently fold for, and i never thought i'd say this but i think he is SO valid for that. because honestly, just look at him, y'all 𼴠(plus, he's appeared in the DC universe before, so who's to say he couldn't appear again in there... am i right, guys LOL)

Shitfaced and Stupid
Jackie goes to the club with Chase, Marvin and Shawn. A bunch of shenanigans happen, and Jackie ends up making a big mistake while drunk off his ass!
So...Funny story about this fanfic: I had written this entire fanfic while I was tipsy or drunk. Only thing is, I didn't write it all at once. I had written the first 2 pages while drunk the first time I had gotten drunk at the club. Then, I wrote 3 more pages while extra drunk on my second clubbing experience. And then the last page, I wrote the third time I had gotten drunk after going to the club. Yes, I was doing a lot of clubbing. But this fanfic had been in the works for exactly 2 weeks. So with that in mind, I hope you enjoy!
I was downing a Moscow Mule, not even caring about how much I was drinking all at once. It was Chaseâs birthday, and I never EVER let myself have fun. I am always the sober one who gets a cab, or IS the cab to get my friends home. But you know what? Iâm giving up my seat tonight. Tonight is my time to treat myself. And what better way to treat myself, then to let myself get drunk at the club?!Â
Yes, I know itâs not MY birthdayâŚBut Chase legitimately told me âWeâre gonna get SHITFACED TONIGHT!â. And why the fuck wouldnât I take that chance?!Â
We had walked into the club at about 11:30pm, and showed the doorman our IDâs. Being undercover, I didnât feel a need to pull out my âJackieboy Manâ persona. Iâm just Jack tonight. Average Jack.Â
I finished my Moscow Mule, and put the empty bottle onto the table. I had promised to be the âbreadwinnerâ tonight. I didnât save up all this cash for nothingâŚI might as well use some of it tonight. I had originally paid for Chase, Shawn and Marvin to get into the club with me. We had all gotten a black star on the back of our hands, to signify the fact that âwe paid already, and we can come back whenever we need to.Â
Chase and Shawn had gotten themselves whiskey sours, and were enjoying their drinks. I could feel the buzz hitting already. It probably helped that I had pretty much downed the whole thing without even taking a break to breathe. Though I am well aware of how dangerous this can be, I am an impatient fuck who wants the buzz as soon as possible.Â
And I most certainly got it! The buzz took hold rather quickly. I could feel my body moving a little more smoothly and freely. I felt like I could move myself around without a care in the world. No worries about whoâs watching me or judging meâŚjust dancing and genuinely enjoying myself. It helped that Chase, Marvin and Shawn were all cheering me on as I swayed my hips, shuffled my feet, and let my arms flow to the beat of the song. The DJ was mostly playing hip hop music, which helped motivate me to dance further.Â
Things were going really wellâŚAnd they only got better once a young lady started dancing her way up to me.Â
I started dancing alongside her, watching her move her hips and spin her brown hair. She wasnât dressed up very sexually considering where she was. She was actually dressed in overalls, of all things, which made her stand out in the groupâŚIn a good way, of course. She was really pretty in her own wayâŚ
I watched her every move, sensing her lack of experience. Truth was, I was a little inexperienced myself. I donât really go clubbing very often. I never really have the time. This is a super rare moment for meâŚand it appears to be the same way for her.Â
I offered my right hand to her, and she surprisingly took it! I kept dancing, making sure to take things slowly and comfortably. She seemed to visibly appreciate the patience I was showing her.Â
I lifted her arm up, prepared to spin her. She happily took it, spinning around and throwing her long hair around as she spun. Just her flowing hair was enough to enchant me. It made me feel things I hadnât felt in agesâŚFor once in my lifeâŚAll I felt was butterflies in my stomachâŚ
âŚOr maybe it was the cocktail making me feel thingsâŚ
She brought herself closer and tried to tell me something. It was hard to understand her due to how loud the club music wasâŚso I leaned in and tried to ask her what she was trying to say. âWHATâS YOUR NAME?â She asked me.Â
I smiled and leaned into her ear. âJACK.â I yelled back. I had noticed the blue ear plugs she was wearing, but sensed that she could still hear me somehow.Â
âNATALIE!â She yelled back with a wide smile.Â
I smiled brightly and kept dancing with her. She seemed to be watching my movements, and following them a little bit. I looked over at my friends, who were recording me on their phones. I rolled my eyes, expecting nothing less but bigotry from them. They were a lot more drunk than me, soâŚgo figure. They clearly canât get over how quickly I managed to find a girl to dance withâŚ
I slid myself a little closer, and took her hand once again. We danced and moved to the music, just enjoying the beat together. When the chorus hit, I lifted her hand up again to spin her. She took the invitation and spun around, her straightened hair flying around again. I let her spin around again, watching as she took the invitation and spun around with her eyes closed this time. She looked quite comfortable dancing with me. And Iâm glad I can bring her that momentary sense of security.Â
I let go of her hand, and went back to dancing on my own. I watched as she danced her way back to her own friends, and I turned to look at my own friends. Chase was too busy taking selfies with Marvin, while Shawn was walking up to me. âWHY DID YOU LET HER GO?!â Shawn asked me.Â
âSHE NEEDS A REST!â I replied, just guessing.Â
âARE HER OTHER FRIENDS SINGLE?â Shawn asked.Â
âI DONâT FUCKINâ KNOW!â I replied.Â
âASK!â Shawn ordered me.Â
âYOU ASK!â I yelled back to him with a laugh. âNO!â Shawn laughed. Someone walked up and squeezed Shawnâs sides, making him squeak. âHEâS TOO MUCH OF A PUUUUSSY.â Marvin teased.Â
Shawn grabbed Marvin and pushed him into the reserved seating sofa. âWHO DA FUCK YOU CALLING PUSSY?!â He shouted as he jumped onto the sofa and squeezed Marvinâs sides multiple times.
âBAHAHAHA! YOHOU- YOHOHOU BASTARD!â Marvin shouted.Â
âOH, KEEP DIGGING YOUR OWN GRAVE.â Shawn replied, scratching at his sides now.Â
I rolled my eyes. Itâs not the first time Shawn and Marvin have tickled each other while theyâre drunkâŚIt happens more often than theyâd both like to admit. Though Iâd normally find it rather amusing, weâre currently in a public placeâŚWhy here of all places?!Â
I ordered myself another drink to keep the tipsy feeling going. It felt great, and I didnât want it to stop. I received the drink: A cinnamarita. Itâs a cocktail made of tequila, orange, cinnamon, andâŚidkâŚit sounded good when I found it on the menu. I picked up the drink and tried it.Â
And OH MY GOSH- It was SO GOOD! Itâs super addicting! I canât stop drinking it! I want it all in my mouth! Donât stop!
âWhoa there, Jack.â A hand pulled away the straw. âSlow down, will ya?â The person told me.Â
I looked up with an annoyed frown, recognizing exactly who it was. This dudeâŚseriously. âWhy do you gotta tell me what to do?â I asked Chase.Â
âBecause you've already downed half the thing! Keep acting like that, and youâll be banned from getting more drinks.â Chase told me.Â
I sighed and stared him down. âI am a grown man just like you. I can handle it.â I tried to tell him.Â
Chase sighed and put down his pineapple daiquiri. âDonât make me do it.â Chase warned.Â
I narrowed my eyes. âDo what?âÂ
Before I knew it, Chase was wiggling his fingers at me. I scoffed. âOh pleaseâŚâ I said as I put my drink down. âIâm not ticklish. You know this.âÂ
Chase rolled his eyes. âI havenât even had a chance to figure it out.â Chase mentioned. âHow do I know youâre not ticklish, if you wonât even let me try?â He asked.Â
âSimple: You take my word for it.â I shot back.Â
âBut thatâs the thing:â He says. I narrow my eyes at him, preparing for the worst. I wanna know what âthingâ heâs talking about. âTake my hand.â He told me, holding out his hand.Â
I look down at his hand. âOkay.â I grab his hand, not expecting him to do much. The worst he can do is kiss the back of my hand.Â
âThanks!âÂ
aAH! Wait, NO! âaAAAH! DOHONâT TICKLE MEHEHE!â I was wrong! I was so wrong! Tickling is worse than hand-kissing! âIHIHIT TICKLES!âÂ
âWell, no shit it tickles! I was hoping it would tickle!â Chase said.Â
âCHAHAHASE DOHONâT! THIHIS IS MEHEHEAN!â I canât help my jumpy movements! âIHIF I FALL, IHIHITâS YOHOUR FAHAHAULT!â I shout at him.Â
âIâll gladly take the responsibility for your injuries.â I saw Chase throw his head back with a laugh. âCause Iâll be laughing at you the whole time!âÂ
I feel motion sick. The world is spinning too fast. How do I slow down the spinning world? Itâs impossible! I hold my head. Itâs hard to focus when Iâm like thisâŚ
I open my eyes to look at the ground. But the lights are confusing me. Why do I feel like Iâm gonna fall? And why is the ground getting closer?Â
Wait OH NO- FLY!Â
âŚ.
âŚ.
âŚ.
Why is it quiet?Â
Why is the music off?Â
Where are the bright lights?Â
Helloooo??
I feel someone grab me. âOkay, I think youâre a little lost. Let me help you, buddy.â Huh? Whoâs that? I tried to look around. Marvin? No, Marvin would have his mask on. Who is this?Â
I feel myself being shoved into the bathroom. âHey-!â I turned around to look at him. It was Chase! âWhat the hell, man?!â I pushed him back a little bit.Â
âWhoa whoa whoa there, JackieâŚâ He put up his hands in arrest. âLetâs calm down.â He told me.Â
I could feel my face muscles getting tense. So I let them go. âOkay.âÂ
Chase grabbed a paper towel. âAre you okay, Jackie?â Â
I widened my eyes. âUhâŚâ I bit my lip and looked down. I felt awkward. âI think so.âÂ
âAlright.â Chase backed up. âI think I understand why you donât like getting drunk.â Chase said.Â
I tilt my head. âWhat do you mean?âÂ
âYouâŚyou flew in the middle of the bar.âÂ
âŚIâm sorry, what?!Â
âWhen?â I ask.Â
âJust now. You were about to fall to the ground, andâŚyou started flying.â Chase told me.Â
Thereâs no wayâŚI couldnât have flown! I- there were so many people watching me!
âHow many people saw me?â I asked.Â
âUhhhhâŚâ Chase bit his lip. âAt least 10 peopleâŚâÂ
I sighed. 10 is not that bad.Â
ââŚPlus the cameraâŚâ I heard next.Â
âWHAT?!â I grabbed Chaseâs shoulders. âWhat camera?!âÂ
âThe security camera in the club.â Chase replied.Â
âOh god, oh godâŚâ I hold my head. âNO!â How could I have done this?! It was ONE NIGHT AT THE CLUB! ONE NIGHT, AND NOW MY REPUTATION IS RUINED!Â
âButâŚthere is a way to fix thisâŚâ I hear.Â
I turned around and grabbed Chaseâs shoulders again. âHow?â I ask.Â
Chase bit his lip. âByâŚdressing up in the super suit.â Chase said.Â
I blinkâŚI blink againâŚ
âIâm sorryâŚbut no.â I reply rather quickly.Â
âIf you donât, then people will know who your secret identity is.â Chase told me.Â
ââŚAnd if I dress in my super suit?â I ask.Â
âThen itâll be known that Jackieboy Man has fun sometimes.â Chase said.Â
God, I canât even think right nowâŚI wanna do it but at the same timeâŚI donât wanna make a mistake and end up on the news for being at the club. ButâŚnews press about clubbing is much better than other controversiesâŚ
âAlright. Jackieboy Man is coming out!â I took off my shirt and put on my super sweater. I put my black mask on, put my red hood on and fluffed up my hair. Letâs do this! âLETâS GET ABSOLUTELY FUCKING SHITFACED FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY!â I scream.Â
âNOW WEâRE TALKING!â I felt his hand on my shoulder.Â
I felt him pulling me out of the bathroom. Wait, whatâs he doing?! âWAIT WAIT!â I laughed. âI actually need to shit, dude!â I heard Chase laugh as I pushed him out of the bathroom. Fucking idiotâŚWeâll get shitfaced after Iâm done shitting.Â

So, how was my drunken writing? Was it super all over the place? Let me know! For context, I am more of a playful, loud, bouncy drunk.
