Thoughts on Lupin/Lily?

regardless, i must be frank that i prefer lupin and lily's relationship, platonic or otherwise, as... a bit toxic, rather than a common fanon version [influenced by that "your mother was there for me when no-one else was" line in the prisoner of azkaban film] which has it as sweet and supportive.

i think this because - in my mind - the most interesting thing about lupin in the period c.1978-1981 is how irrelevant he is to the other marauders' lives. i don't just mean that mcgonagall and rosmerta have forgotten his existence when they're talking about the secret keeper swap in prisoner of azkaban, but that there is no suggestion anywhere in canon that he was considered by james and sirius as worth using in the plan, and we know he was never made aware of its existence.

and i am convinced - as i've set out in more detail in my meta on wolfstar - that this is because sirius thought lupin was the death eater spy in the order. but i also think that - by the summer of 1981, at least - james suspected this too, even if he was much less willing than sirius to commit to the opinion, and this is the reason for lupin's relegation to the margins of the sirius-and-james-don't-know-what-opsec-is show.

which leads me to like the idea of lily also thinking this - after all, lupin isn't mentioned in her letter to sirius, and i think we can imagine that the few flashes we get of her personality in canon [all of which show her to be a bit bolshy - a character trait i respect] wouldn't cause her to be immediately fond of lupin and his passive-aggression.

if they're going to be rammed together by a fic, then, i would definitely like to see it more in a "god, i fucking hate you, but you're the only person here" way. not not unlike stanford and anthony in the first sex and the city film.

You know what would be a cool warrior cat au? Sibling swap au. Not in personality or whatever because that just takes away from who the cats are but in roles and how/when they die.

I mean at face value what a cool au we would have Snowstar instead of Bluestar!! WRONG. Maybe? I mean Moonflower would be the med cat (bc she swapped with Goosefeather) but maybe those two would end up as Goose’s kits somehow, if he ever decided to have kits even though he’s a warrior now. So that would mean Thistleclaw would become leader right? Because he was the next candidate? WRONG AGAIN. He died as an apprentice replacing his sister. So does that mean we would have Sweetstar?? Who even knows!!

Also cats with no known siblings or only cat litters stay the same and I think this only applies to cats born in the same litter. Like Tigerstar is replaced by one of his sisters but Wind Runner has no known siblings (that I remember) even if she maybe had some so she stays

I just think it has a lot of endless possibilities, and consider, Princess replacing Firestar. Joining for a completely different reason and Firestar is the one who sticks around with his two legs (I like to think a twoleg kit moved in and they bonded and Rusty felt bad leaving so he sticks around). While Princess maybe gets convinced by Oliver and she joins Thunderclan. I just think it’d be radical!! Also the world building oh my gododododod THe- THE WORLDBUILDING! If you really want to get into it you could even go back to the beginning. Gray Wing, leader of Skyclan. Sun Shadow leader of Shadowclan. Wind Runner still runs Windclan (my Girlboss). Thunder is replaced by one of his dead siblings, rumble or lightning I think. River Ripple still runs Riverclan. Idk man I just feel it’s got that potential. Gorillaz au idea:

Pretty much most of the stuff’s the same, except out of order. Like the backstories still happen the same way, but the events in phase 7 happen in phase 2, phase 5 is phase 3, phase 2 is 4 etc.

So essentially it’s just what would each Gorillaz phase be like if the characters were different ages. Also because the major events happen in different orders, it would It affect the next event in different ways.

For example: Murdoc going to jail like in phase 5 could have been what motivates Noodle to go find out about her past and then write Demon Days. And maybe because the Paula Cracker incident happened close to phase 1, maybe that IS what drove 2-D to join Moonflowers cult like Murdoc assumed! And ofc this means more Del because I want Russ to keep his ghost friend for longer than one phase lol (and more Ace bcuz yes)

Maybe even add a twinge of role swapping to it, spice it up a little idk. I’m lowkey really into the whole Cyborg 2-D au thingy so maybe that could be incorporated somehow??? Idk I’m tired and very curious.

The flowers she’s holding are moonflowers, moonflowers last for 1 day as they only bloom at night or on dark days due to insects that are active durning these times being the ones to pollinate them, they also have a glowing effect to them and produce a poison, this poison is only effective through consumption so for example brewing into a tea, you would need a few of them for a effect tho I think?? The poison causes hallucinations,agitation and confusion, also spikes in blood pressure and heart rate, this all takes effect after a hour of consumption(I think I’m not bothered to double check), in serious cases these flowers may cause seizures and comas, I’m now going to stop telling you effects of a poisonous flower for reasons-

Moonflowers are also associated with romantic love sometimes which I didn’t know until after I finished drawing- the first thing I rlly read abt them was spiritual values the feeling of being able to turn into a coyote or wolf, just smt along the lines of that, it just felt very much fitting for pearl.

This was a Moonflower, and she wasn't supposed to be here, but cosmic winds do what they do, and if things get carried away, well, it happens. Princess Celestia took the little flower under her wing, in part as a student, learning all there is to know about Equestria, but also in part as a child that needed someone to raise them. She was given the name Chromatic Bloom, or just Chroma for short, since she changed color with her feelings. Eventually, Little Dreamer found her, revealing her true name- Hanazuki. He saw how much she loved this world, even if the ponies still didn't fully accept her, and decided to let her stay. Still, there's a moon without a protector out there. He spoke with Celestia about this, and it was decided: as a form of cultural exchange, her best student- Twilight- would go to this far away moon and learn the ways of the Moonflowers. Twilight was excited about this: a chance to learn about some other, new magic, how could she say no?! As part of the exchange, she took on the name Twilisuki.

I had a delayed allergic reaction to the bodywash I have been using for the oast few months, and now I have that scaly, hard dermatitis rash all over my hands and arms again and I know I only just swapped bodywash two days ago, but I am upset it isn't gone yet.

Oh well. Its what I get for buying a dollar tree body wash and not checking for SLS when I know I am allergic to it.

Was sad, because it smells good (prosilk moonflower scent) but it gave me an excuse to try the native body wash (got cashmere rain) which is so much better. The lather, the texture, and the smell are all just really really good. And it is so much thicker so I don't feel like I need to dump a whole glob onto the washcloth. Gods sometimes spending $10 is worth it

boomslang and moonflower: i kept two of their offspring & the other two were snagged by IRLs, so I'd say this was a successful hatch. i really love these colors so I'll keep breeding this pair.

noriko - platinum/wisteria/smoke coatl (petals/shimmer/points) - very pleased with this baby, happily will put her in my showcase as is

shizuka - silver/wisteria/dust coatl (petals/butterfly/points) - I might play with some scries for the tert because it kind of conflicts with the secondary, but we will see

toxicity and mulan: while I did like these two, I don't think I'll breed them again

gothika - xyx crimson/orca imperial (savannah/malachite/spines) - might change the tert, but otherwise, im happy with this

thrasher - blood/eldritch/crimson imperial (savannah/malachite/spines) - might change the tert, but im not sure

oathbreaker and eldritch knight: very happy with these snurges! exactly the kind of babies i was looking for - I kept two and the last was claimed by an IRL

gloomstalker - eldritch/shadow/thistle sandsurge (harlequin/diamondback/kumo) - very happy with this one as is

berserker - eldritch/blackberry/jade sandsurge (harlequin/diamondback/kumo) - might swap kumo for beard, but we will see

I don't know if I'm making a second draft, but anyway, there's the changes I'm considering:

(a bit of TC tree info here too) Frostfur and Snowfur must be related in the wc growlingverse, since my designs for them are very similiar, and also, like, come onnn. Frostfur is probably the daughter of Brambleberry (also a very similiar design haver. whats up with these appaloosa mutation looking cats with blue eyes.) and Featherwhisker, but raised by Sunstar (Featherwhisker's brother), as a younger sister of Lionheart and Goldenflower. Brambleberry and Shellheart are siblings and kits of Willownose and Daisytoe; Daisytoe later got with Rooktail and had Moonflower and Goosefeather, and then it's basically pretty much like canon.

REALLY considering the Crooked/Oak and Gray/Willow litters to swap fathers, with Graypool and Willowbreeze being now daughters of Fallowtail and Shellheart, and Crookedstar and Oakheart being the sons of Rainflower and Reedfeather. 1) because I don't like how two gray cats had two brown kittens (crooked/oak), and two brown cats and two gray kittens (gray/willow). like, sorry, chyba co sie pokićkało. 2) i just like it better if Crooked and Oak were halfclan instead. Thinking that maybe instead of running away to the barn 20 kilometers away (??? how did he even do it he was a literal kitten lol lmao even), Reedfeather instead takes him and his brother to WindClan (like he did with Willow and Gray in canon but like. in a more... evil. way.) after seeing their mother call Crookedkit ableist slurs when he was a preschooler. Reedfeather decided that's enough Rainflower I am taking full custody, my sons now. Or maybe just takes Crookedkit, since idk if RiverClan would let him? Anyway, Crookedkit joins WindClan with his deputy dad Reedfeather, where his name is changed back into Stormkit because What The Fuck, and actually has a very good time there, his parent actually likes him, he becomes friends with Hopkit/Deadpaw (also: What The Fuck), relearns how to chew/speak/hunt with his twisted jaw, and prefers it over RiverClan where everyone just ignored his neglect and let his mother Do All That (also Hailstar). But of course after a while he gets either A.) continuously guilt tripped and pressured by Mapleshade to leave WindClan and his father to return to his birth clan RiverClan and back to his abuser because """"clan loyalty"""" or whatever, which he internalizes for the rest of his life there, or B) similiar to in canon gray/willow's return to RC, Hailstar and his battle patrol win him back by force (not sure if Stormkit sees it, but I'm def keeping Hailstar near drowning Reedfeather until he surrenders) and take him back themselves. Back to the torture gauntlet you go, no, Crookedkit, we're the good guys and have just honorably won you back, it was Reedfeather that kidnapped you and not us :) you don't know what you're talking about. dumb baby :) anyway we're leaving like right about now also half ur mom thinks you're a very naughty boy for this and we encourage you to work very hard to earn back all our trust and love :) ok bedtime, don't be late for cat jingoism class tomorrow. Crookedstar then internalizes it for the rest of his life so hard he becomes their leader years later. He's just not allowed to be happy ever I guess fuck this cat in particular??? Mapleshade doesn't even need to be present if I think about it..... anyway are we going with option A or B my wc followers which are you feeling .
