A ref for my version of Star Butterfly!
Its basically an AU/Rewrite
She honestly deserved to have better writing
(Also, she is still part of the Butterfly family, she didn't descend from a peasant girl)

I've been drawing a lot lately, which also includes drawing shitposts. expect more. expect so many.
these are various toffees from across the multiverse... just toffees doing toffee things (like overthrowing the monarchy).
left to right: @dappercritter and @full-moon-phoenix 's toffee, a mix of @lil-oreo-cookie 's young and current toffee designs, my toffee (they're nonbinary), and @the-king-of-snakeskin/@ultra-creepy-fucker-things 's toffee

(Never too late for a) SVTFOE Hot Take
I actually think you could have vastly improved the narrative if this guy was Eclipsa's monster husband instead of Globgor.
Tumblr media
EDIT (23/08/23): I probably should have put this upfront but if Toffee was Eclipsa's monster-man instead, let me be absolutely clear that
I WOULD HAVE USED THIS AS AN EXCUSE TO GIVE TOFFEE A SYMPATHETIC BACKSTORY AND REDEMPTION ARC INSTEAD OF BEING JUST PLAIN EVIL LIKE A LAZY WRITER.

Still obssessed over svtfoe.
As much as season 4 gets hated on I'm still annoyed how much damn potential they had that could have worked if they handled it better by just showing stuff earlier.
Two things that caught my attention was the Solarian Armor. I envision them in a rewrite to be instead seen in ruins in a graveyard of sorts. Probably called the iron grave where many destroyed armors are seen.
The second is the solarian sword shouldn't have been a mass produced weapon but something akin to Excalibur where it was the legendary sword of solaria that was crafted after she gave the wand to eclipsa

Currently getting back into my Rhombulus Rewrite a bit, and oh god has it spread beyond just rewriting Rhombulus. Yes, I did make an ending to his story that fits with canon, but I also wanted to make a version of the finale that brings a legitimately satisfying end to his story. Part of the point of the rewrite was making him a more fleshed out character and even a major one, but without replacing Star as the protagonist. And it's hard to write an interesting ending to the character when the rest of canon is still shit.
Then I thought of an interesting idea that would result in tying Mina and Rhombulus together in a way, as well as connecting to one of the major themes of the show (and the rewrite). This caused me to add some changes to Mina during my rewrite.
Then things got a bit out of hand and it lowkey became the Rhombulus (and Mina) Rewrite. Then I realized that I couldn't rewrite Mina without rewriting some of the main plot for Season 4. Then I finally decided "fuck it, let's just rewrite the majority of the finale and much of the plot of Season 4. We'll keep some of the stuff we already changed and the episodes we still kept, but the whole Mina subplot will need to be completely reconstructed from the ground up."
Next thing I know, I'm writing out multiple scenes that have nothing to do with Rhombulus and I'm crying over Mina's new death scene.
God I am so excited to release my next proper Rhombulus Rewrite post.

SVTFOE rewrite Ep 2
Pony Head arrives on Earth to find Star and hang out with her, secretly on the run from attending Miss Heinous's School. She and Tom introduce Star, Marco, and Janna to the concept of dimensional scissors, and take them to the arcade dimension so they can procrastinate on doing their homework.
Sounds like a pretty fun idea. I do still like the idea of having Tom and Janna more involved from the start, and the implication that Ponyhead and Tom are actually closer friends than canon seems to imply is also intriguing.

AHAHAHA I CAST CURSE OF LONG POST!
Tumblr media
It's Shinjai! Septarian, freedom fighter, and independent warrior peasant extraordinaire. She was Star's friend for a while, until she decided her life as the Monster Best Friend sucked and she should start biting people.
Tumblr media
Alice! Shinjai's bff (or... something else ;)). Also a monster freedom fighter. She exists to be Cooler Than Star, but don't let her narrative role fool you. She's still a teenager, with all that that brings. She also hates Star, but pretending to be a Star superfan stopped her and her underground teenage militia from getting blasted in the face by a still-uncorrupted wand.
BUT WAIT!
Those two are not OCs! They're based on background characters in svtfoe!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, worry not. I have a lot of OCs who aren't background characters. How about a ton of ghosts (and Sílthéy):
Tumblr media
There's the Toffee fam: Necahua, their sibling, Chia, their badass diplomat mother, Tecoloa, their kind schoolteacher mother, and finally Cayeto, their dad. When I designed Necahua, I didn't really think about their parents, so Necahua and Toffee look very similar, more like direct siblings instead of the technical half-siblings they are. So I made them both look more like Cayeto, while accentuating the few differences they have in creating the designs of Chia and Tecoloa. Tecoloa herself looks very scary, being very tall and possessing quite a few spikes, but she's very kind and gentle. The short, spikeless Chia is the one you want to watch out for, she will stab you and feel no remorse. Neither Toffee nor Necahua inherited Cayeto's saber-teeth, which is probably for the best.
Then there's Sílthéy, who isn't not a monster, but she's not *just* a monster. But she's been my OC since before svtfoe started airing, this is just her septarian form. (she can look like any monster, she just is part of Toffee's family too, even if she'll never admit it.)
Last of this batch is Mocel, Miquiz, and Tecolo. BUT WAIT! Miquiz is technically not an OC either! He's the septarian Eclipsa tested the darkest spell on! He's also a teenager. 14. Eesh. Fun fact: his name means Seabird. Mocel takes care of him, and acts as the Underworld's spy while she does it, since Mocel's ash remains are much better at sneaking around than Miquiz's corpse. Mocel didn't have to be a septarian, and honestly if I were to go back I'd make her a different species, but she's cool either way.
Tecolo's a friend of Ludo's, and also Toffee, which is a conflict of interest. But he is neat. The reason people keep saying his name is unfortunate/weird is because it sounds a lot like te'colo, which means "the hated" but is more often translated as "asshole (gender neutral)" His name is actually Teco'lo, or Owl. It's also bad because his parents were not very creative.
Tecoloa's name is not seen as unfortunate, just like in English "hit" is not a swear word despite being part of "shit".
Shout out to Shinjai's parents <3 they're not part of s5 because their combined coolness would explode the series.
also their potions. their potions would explode everything. they've become potion-makers while we weren't looking at them. Tiana is left, Kepler is right.
Tumblr media
There's a lot more minor character monster OCs I've got, but I want to add one whose story we're about to reveal: Cíaxoch, Toffee's daughter. Here's a quick sketch:
Tumblr media
Cíaxoch is... hmm. For now you can know that she's dead, she is not a ghost, and she was an architect. Both Toffee and Rasticore miss her deeply. She's kind of an everyman character, but a very Septarsis everyman, so very weird to us humans. I can't wait for you guys to meet her.
Star Vs. fans, reblog this with your monster OCs.

Was writing a post about Meteora (yall know I love to take my time with analysis and asks in my inbox) and I've been thinking very much about how hair -- her hairstyle -- is important in her character design and evolution, especially when you remember how much of her character is defined by control. Or, rather, the lack of it.
It's an expression of the self and simultaneously the only part of her body she has any real control over... at least after disposing of ST. Olga.
I find it especially interesting how, in her memories, her teenage self -- the one that was beginning to ask questions about her condition -- had a short haircut, meanwhile her young adult version, who craved validation from her mother as well as having already internalised the harmful rethoric imparted by the school, has visibly longer hair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We do later find out that, if left to her own devices, she'd rather keep it as short as possible; however I'd assume that the rules imposed by St Olga would actively go against her desires by imposing the feminine standard of long hair.
"Problem" is, Meteora happens to have a headful of thick curls. Hard to keep under control, right? Not that she needs to, but I'm trying to reason the way St Olga would. But it can't be helped; she needs her hair to remain voluptuous as it is, because she has horns to hide. Oh, but it can't be too long, can it, because otherwise it's gonna be all over the place.
This eternal dilemma is what I would personally insert in the narrative if I was to take a shot at rewriting (or rather, adding more, since I think the little we were given was really interesting) to Meteora's upbringing. The fact that no matter what she does with her hair (read: with herself), she'll never be good enough because the system in which she's being boxed in was simply not made for her.
Then, thinking about it, the very short undercut she chooses for herself later on becomes a paradoxical testment to her tragedy. Because on one hand, an undercut is easy to manage by herself (read: nobody would find out about the horns) and most importantly she likes it, but it also retroactively transforms into just another way to assert control over herself.
She goes to great lengths to make sure her hair is well kept and looked after, but at the same time it's performative. It's the illusion of choice. Stepping out of the small bubble which she was forced to hide in only to step right back in because she physically has no other way to feel like she's in control of anything, ESPECIALLY her own body.
St Olga is gone, but her teachings are still there. They still haunt her. She's still hiding while peaking her head out.
And I say all this because once she FINALLY lets go of all inhibitions, her hair is the first thing that changes, and it's a paradox, again. Because this time it's long, stereotypically feminine; but at the same time it's retroactively masculine, because it makes her look just like her father. (I'm not gonna go into the GENDER of all this but I promise you I DO THINK ABOUT IT A LOT)
It's beautiful and all over the place but most importantly she is free to NOT CARE.
Tumblr media
Because she finally has the power to NOT care. She doesn't need to protect herself by trying to fit in because she has reclaimed her monster side, her own empowerment. Herself. She doesn't NEED to control herself anymore.
And again, in a rewrite, I would keep her hair this way. Long and free, at least for a long while. Then if she wants to cut it, it'll be her own choice, free of judgement. This time she'll get to show off her horns regardless. :)

Hey about that SVTFOE Rewrite...
I know it's been a fairly long time since I finally threw in the towel on that old thing, but me and @full-moon-phoenix were discussing that whole thing where making Eclipsa and Toffee a thing would have solved a whole lot of problems with the story.
...and that actually gave us enough inspiration to start thinking about trying again with the rewrite.
It has everything.
A chance to give the two most lore important yet underwritten characters in the show an excuse to stay in the foreground that gives them both more to work with!
More opportunities for a stronger conflict that ties together the plot lines about Mewni, the monsters, the queens, and the magic!
Ship drama that actually matters to the narrative!
So just out of curiosity...

SvtFoE Rhombulus Rewrite (Pt. 6)
Tumblr media
Hey, it’s been a while since you saw my face-
All jokes aside, sorry for being gone for so long. In my defense, I was in college, then I had seasonal depression which made it hard to do much of anything creative-wise. This is admittedly one of my favorite fan projects, so I always feel bad about not updating it. But I have managed to get back into it again (finally) and wanted to release one of the easier parts to do. (@bawfulio @sagesilentfire tagging you since you guys have been following this AU since the beginning and have been waiting the longest for an update)
Anyways, Monsters and Mewmans, Crystals and Chimeras, welcome back to my Rhombulus Rewrite! Check out this post if you have no clue what the heck I’m talking about or you want to read the previous parts. As I said in Part 4, this part will be one of the two possible ends I have to this AU. Ya’ll can choose which one you prefer. This one is called the “Closest to Canon Ending” and is also sad. It will not focus on the problems with the ending as a whole and shall instead be more about fixing Rhombulus’ part. I’ll admit, though I prefer the second ending as a finale, I’m pretty proud of this one as well, as it has some stuff I’m pretty proud of writing wise. I did make myself sad though, so there’s that.
Closest to Canon Ending (AKA Ending 1):
- This ending is kinda if I switched Rhombulus and Hekapoo’s parts, but Rhombulus had a more proper and fitting redemption. Also, it might make some character choices make more sense.
- So, the first big changes happen in “Ready, Aim, Fire”. We overhear Rhombulus arguing with Hekapoo and Omni about how to handle the Mina situation, saying that even though they may not like it, they need to protect Eclipsa and her family since it’s the right thing to do and they can’t let Mina take over.
- This is when Hekapoo reveals that they have been backing Mina the whole time, which horrifies Rhombulus. He says that he is disappointed in them, and will go out to support Eclipsa and co, even if he has to fight Hekapoo and Omni. He then runs outside.
- We don’t see what happened to Rhombulus until “The Right Way,” where he jumps into the battle as things are looking dire. We get some pretty cool action stuff from him, which should be fun.
- He even helps out various monsters, using his crystals to protect them. It brings his arc full circle, showing him go from someone who fights monsters to someone who protects them like he would protect any other innocent civilian. It’s a good moment for him.
- But unfortunately, Rhombulus gets seriously hurt by the Solarian Blade multiple times, and since he and the rest of the MHC are basically monsters, the blades actually work on them. I think it’ll be the most shocking (and plot convenient) if Rhombulus loses his tails, as they are his main weapons and method of self defense.
- He’ll manage to play it off like he is fine, but will need help soon. Maybe he’ll convince them that he probably won’t die. He might not even realize the blades work so well on him, especially since his magic is making him more asymptomatic. He’s good at hiding how bad he is doing, mainly because he is still able to walk and run and other stuff. But he can’t fight and needs to sit down a lot, so he won’t be able to do much during the Moon reveal.
- Instead of that horrible first kiss scene between Star and Marco, I have decided to give them a platonic love scene in a way, since I want the ending to not seem too random but still keep things platonic.
- Star is clearly upset and overwhelmed by everything, even though she might not be able to express it properly. She eventually tensely says that she’s going to do [insert helpful yet distracting task], and Marco offers to help her. She agrees, and while they’re working, Marco says that he knows something is bothering her, and she can talk about it if she wants.
- Star confesses that she’s been feeling extremely alone and scared lately. Multiple of her friends are severely hurt and could easily die, and she can’t do anything about it. She fought so hard and is trying to stay strong, and even despite all that, she feels like she’s failed at keeping people safe.
- Marco says that she is the reason less people have been hurt, and that everyone chose to fight and stand up against Mina, knowing the risk they would be in. It’s not her fault this happened. He then assures her that no matter what, they will always be best friends, and he’ll be there for her no matter what.
- Pretend we’ve also had a lot more great friendship moments between them this season, so that the show clearly shows their dynamic as important to the plot.
- Anyways, back to everything else. This rewrite is called the Rhombulus Rewrite after all.
- “Pizza Party” will be renamed “Where the Blame Lies,” and instead of the MHC having a pizza party, we will see Hekapoo and Omni arguing over whether or not they made the right choice, and if they should go after Rhombulus. It’s a very short, tense scene, where Hekapoo believes that Rhombulus is wrong, but they should still go look for him to talk, and Omni believes that Rhombulus is “too far gone.”
- They decide to split up, with Hekapoo choosing to go after Rhombulus, and Omni choosing to do his own thing.
- Meanwhile, Rhombulus ends up fleeing with Star and co, pretending that he is fine, until he ends up collapsing while they are running. Mina declares Rhombulus a traitor, and attacks him, causing yet another major blow to his body, where many of the other scars have already spread far.
- As Eclipsa and Marco help him up and try to support him, Mina declares her plan to wipe out all monsters and monster-supporters. The group tries to escape, but are soon surrounded. Mina goes in for the kill, but a portal opens up under Star, Marco, Eclipsa, Moon, and Rhombulus, whisking them away. They find themselves in the middle of a forest, saved by Hekapoo.
- This is where “Tavern at the End of the Multiverse” starts. Hekapoo is horrified at Rhombulus’ condition, and after picking him up, she says that she knows a place where all of them can hide. And so she takes them to the Tavern at the End of the Multiverse. This space is also a bit of a safe zone for all different types of people, and has some private rooms if needed.
- Hekapoo takes Rhombulus into one of them to see if she can help him somehow. Star argues with Moon, but they are interrupted by Hekapoo, who says that she needs them to come over to where Rhombulus is. He’s in terrible condition, with the wounds having fully spread all over him.
- It’s a really sad scene, especially when he begins telling Hekapoo that he can see Lekmet, and they are going to be reunited soon. Hekapoo is extremely distraught and basically in denial, while Rhombulus is basically accepting what is happening.
- He tells Hekapoo not to worry too much about it, and that their time is close to ending anyways, he just wishes he could have seen everyone win. He tells Star to do better than those who came before her, and that she will be able to fix the world. Then, my boy dies.
- While I still don’t like the whole “destroy all magic” plotline, I thought that something like this would be cool in helping explain the rationale for a few characters. In Star’s case, this is a bit of a breaking point for her. This is where she begins to have her “I hate magic” moment, because she just lost a close friend due to the damage magic can cause when in the wrong hands.
- And Hekapoo being chill with Star destroying magic makes a lot more sense. She too just lost someone important to her, basically her favorite sibling, and is in a more apathetic state. Hekapoo is mad and sees that the MHC has fallen down a bad path that has slowly destroyed them. Her attitude is less chill and carefree and more angry and resentful.
For Ending 1, I don’t really have any other changes, because all I really wanted to do for this ending is the scene where Rhombulus dies, so that’s the end of that. I think Ending 2 will be a much better ending as a whole, but I thought of Ending 1 first, and kind of liked aspects of it. It’s very bittersweet, and I wanted to make a version that stays faithful to the OG.
However, the OG is also terrible, so I decided to make another version anyways, especially since I wanted a version where Rhombulus can live. Stay tuned for Ending 2, which will hopefully be coming soon! Or at least, a special post before that giving extra context for Ending 2 (spoilers, I reworked Mina a bit).
Thanks for all your support, and I hope you like what I have in store, since I’ve been working on Ending 2 for a while now. Hopefully this will keep you company in the meantime.

Holy shit... this is beyond gorgeous. Holy shit. I can't. I saw this yesterday evening and spent the entire time between then and now screaming because this is so beautiful. It feels so strange... just. Like. Wow, you like the stuff I make? You like it enough to make more stuff??? And notice little details of that stuff????? And you like/don't mind Sílthéy? (She's obnoxious! She tears down our protagonist! She could be mistaken for a self-insert Mary Sue if she wasn't so... herself! It was hard guesswork making her entrance into the plot cohesive. I could only hope she wasn't too annoying that you didn't listen to her. Though, to be fair, she only gets more irritating from here on out. Hopefully funny-irritating, not Ponyhead-irritating. And completely bizarre too, she's very fun to write doing weird stuff just because she can.)
But it's stuff like this that helps me keep going. I have a confession: I haven't finished a project like this before, ever. I've had a few projects that I've gotten really far on, but usually my ambition is bigger than my ability to follow through. But because of people like you I really think I'm going to finish, if only to avoid disappointing you. My first draft has hit the really exciting parts of S5, and I don't think I'm going to stop anytime soon. So thank you! You remind me that people like my story and want to see it finished! This absolutely stunning art is helping me keep writing!
And it is beautiful, I love the effects you gave it, the colors pop, and it really matches the psyches of the characters – you couldn't have made a better piece of art if you knew what the characters are going to be doing soon! And of course my favorite piece is baby Toffee, they're so cute and I love them and their family. You actually aren't too far away from the designs of their parents!
Again, thank you thank you thankyou!

The cards:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello again! I didn't tell you but I went through a lack of motivation phase. I'm better now but it was really bad at the beginning of this year, I didn't feel like drawing anything and what I did draw felt lifeless, like it was missing something. At the same time, the last chapter of Samatfoe part 4 came out, and wow, that was an awesome chapter. I loved how Sílthéy appeared, narrating the scene and her entrance, I found it so creative. And Toffee's backstory, I actually got emotional on the part where Sílthéy described the events that led to Toffee's parents and brother's deaths. For some reason I still believed Glossarick didn't have anything to do with what happened to Toffee, until this chapter, even though it was clarified since the beginning that he was the bad guy, I think I was still associating him with Glossarick from the original series who, at least in the beginning, was good. Anyway, great chapter, it was an amazing way to finish this part of the series and I can't wait for the next and to see Sílthéy again. Now going back to the drawing, I wanted to make something big, and somewhat detailed to see if I could motivate myself again, so after I read Samatfoe's last chapter I couldn't stop thinking about the characters' reactions at the end of the story, the mixed feelings they were feeling, betrayal, anger, confusion and I wanted to illustrate that, but I didn't want to just draw their expressions. And then I remembered the drawing @sagesilentfire had posted before the chapter update and I thought, " That's it. That's what I want to do". So this drawing is supposed to be the aftermath of the events, how everybody was feeling at the end of it, I tried to use some symbolism here and there in the cards. I'm not sure if I was able to capture the emotions of every character, but I did my best. Just to clarify some things, in Marcie's card that cape is supposed to be the one Marco receives in one of the episodes(can't remember which one), I don't believe Marcie also received one but it is just to represent Mewni, her armor is also one that Marco uses in another episode. Meteora's dress is the one she was going to use in the coronation, I just took Meteora's dress in the original episode and added some details based on Eclipsa and Star's dresses from the same episode. I even put the little bow she uses on her tail. Star's dress is based on her butterfly form(which is beautiful. I love how chaotic and vibrant it is, it fits so much with Star). Also, this is the second time I draw a wheelchair, you can barely see under Star's very fluffy dress, but I hope what you can see looks good. To finish, I also used this drawing to put into practice some new methods in how to draw things, like blood, crystals, tears, and flames, and how to do different renderings and different expressions, and I think I learned a lot with it. This drawing took a long time to make. It is the biggest drawing I've ever made with 125 layers only for the cards, so I really hope you like it. See ya ❤️.
