I love you tailors, I love you recycling center employees, I love you jewelry repair people, I love you tech repair people. I love you plumbers, I love you electricians. I love you all maintenance workers, who make it so things don't have to be fully replaced when they break.
There are so many ways to contribute to the climate movement.

Let go of the idea that diy will inherently look shit. All your clothes are handmade you just don't see the people doing it.

Sustainability Project - Plarn (Plastic Yarn)
Tumblr media
Image from String Theory
This one's for my fellow crafters with a bunch of plastic shopping bags sitting in their pantry. (We all have that bag of bags, let's be real.)
Single-use plastic shopping bags pass through our lives in moments, but they last FOREVER in a landfill. Instead of leaving them to take up space in your home or throwing them away, and if you don't have a recycling location locally that takes shopping bags, you can turn them into plarn! Some of you may remember this from the 2010s, when people were turning grocery bags into sleeping mats for the homeless, reusable shopping baskets, and all sorts of things.
There are a few different ways to make plarn, depending on how much effort you want to put into it. Here are some tutorials to help you get started, in video and text form:

Can I just say I'm so glad you started updating again? It inspires me! I have a fanfiction I really need to update for years now. I love that we're finally getting the Raoul lore. Please know I hope you are okay and I appreciate that you came back to this! Much love!
Thank you so much for the encouragement! I hope you are able to work on your fanfiction as well—Godspeed!
Yeah it’s embarrassing how long it’s taken me to get around to the Raoul lore that I’ve been hoarding forever haha…

Visible mending made easy: fall edition
Tumblr media
New to sewing? Want to learn embroidery? I've got some beautiful stick-and-stitch patches that make it easy as pie. And right now, that pie is pumpkin.

When you're done stitching over the pattern, you just put it in water and wash the patch away.
Get cozy. Get spooky. Get thee to my Etsy shop.

Really hope the doctor/therapist can help you out, Sci :,( As for the webtoons and tapas bullshit, uuuuuuuh,,,,,look on the bright side, you don’t have to do it anymore
agree - i never wanted to do it - but i feel sad on the behalf of all the people who wanted to read the blog on a more accessible platform. but it just isn't meant to be.
ultimately - it's been a problem since the beginning of ask-spiderpool and - you know, really - tumblr is the platform it was intended to be on and meant to be engaged with on. everywhere else is just an attempt to archive it - when it really, truly lives here. the same feeling of "home" just won't be captured anywhere else. even when i post to instagram or anything - it's just like, me opening a window for other people to glimpse through. but tumblr is home.

This project...oh boy this project. So. I hate the yarn I used, it was an odd cotton yarn and my fingers did NOT like the texture of it, it almost felt like knitting with cotton wool which I also do not enjoy the texture of and makes me want to crawl out of my skin suit. But, despite my obvious dislike of touching this yarn, I do love this project because of what it is.
I did not make this as a wearable scarf, my point in making this was more as a teaching tool, as a physical and visible example of climate change. Every four rows, (every two garter bumps?) is representative of one year. The colours, starting with the blue, represent the average global temperature starting from 1922 all the way to 2021.
