In Defense of Peter Pevensie. Originally written in response to accusations of Peter being "less complex" than other Narnia characters
If King Lune is the embodiment of masculinity as father, then Peter is the embodiment of masculinity brother. As High King, he becomes the brother of his people, but those seeds were sown in his own family.
From the very beginning of the story Peter is the leader of the Pevensie children, a job he evidently takes very seriously. But, unlike a lot of eldest siblings, he doesn’t use his status and power as a means to swagger around and lord it over the others. Quite the opposite, actually. It is immediately clear that one of Peter’s main functions in the Pevensie family is cheerleader of his siblings. This is shown not only in his open praise of their talents (for example, he hypes up Susan’s talent of archery in PC and cheers on Lucy for having been right after none of them believed her), but also generally tries to keep them in high spirits.
Take the context of LWW. The Pevensies are sent to the countryside because of air raids. They are going into a strange house with a strange man because the Germans are obliterating everything the children have ever known or called home. All of them are scared, Edmund’s bullying Lucy, and Lucy may or may not be going insane. But Peter can’t show any of them that fear, because he’s the oldest. They can’t know he’s scared, so he puts a bold face on it. One of the first things he says in LWW is “We’ve landed on our feet and no mistake” when he looks at the big house. He argues they are going to have a delightful summer after all. The next day, when the others are disheartened by the rain, he suggests they explore the house.
As the years go on, Peter earns the title “Magnificent.” In this, Peter truly embodies the JPII quote, “the ultimate test of your greatness is the way you treat every human being.” He has a bleeding heart for the least of these, but in an unassuming, humble way. Peter is not a man of pomp and circumstance. He has a servant’s heart, perhaps most evident in PC.
Upon returning to Narnia and learning of Caspian’s plight, he immediately makes it known that he has no intention of replacing Caspian. “I haven’t come to take your place, but to put you in it” is among the first things he says to his new friend. This isn’t about winning fame or glory or reliving the old days. This is about making right what was wrong.
He is generous with the Narnia creatures, even when they are a bit silly. When trying to pick a Marshall, he suggests the Giant Wimbleweather. Caspian warns him that the giant isn’t very smart, to which Peter responds, “Of course not. But any giant looks impressive if only he will keep quiet. And it will cheer him up.” Part of his reasoning is simply the injured feelings of poor Wimbleweather who earlier entirely messed up an important battle. The following conversation also takes place while they are searching for a Marshall. Reepicheep offers his assistance:
"I am afraid it would not do," said Peter very gravely. "Some humans are afraid of mice——"
"I had observed it, Sire," said Reepicheep.
"And it would not be quite fair to Miraz," Peter continued, "to have in sight anything that might abate the edge of his courage."
Instead of embarrass and insult Reepicheep by explaining that he is far too small and unassuming for such a job, he appeals rather to humans' fear of mice. Even while battle prepping, his is concerned about the hearts of his people. Bulgy Bear, too, he allows to be a Marshall, as it is the right of bears, no matter how silly they are.
Peter understands that duty means doing what is right, regardless of how it makes you feel. His first battle happens because Susan and Lucy are being chased by the wolves. When he hears Susan’s horn, he runs to help her. The book says, “Peter did not feel very brave; indeed, he felt he was going to be sick. But that made no difference to what he had to do.” His sisters needed him. And so he showed up. The same is true in PC, when he engages Miraz in single combat. Edmund asks if he can beat Miraz. Peter responds that he is fighting to find out. He goes in completely unsure that he is ever going to see his family again, but he does it anyway. Because Narnia needs him. Caspian needs him. His people need him. And his feelings aren’t the deciding factor.
When he makes mistakes, he owns up to them. In LWW, when the children plead before Aslan on Edmund’s behalf, Peter blames himself for being too hard on Edmund. In PC, when they finally see Aslan, he apologizes for having led them wrong the whole time. He is always trying to do his very best and falling short like the rest of us. But he accepts his fault with humility, gets back up and tries again.
By the Last Battle, we get to see Peter in his truest form. Even though he has been in England for years, when the seven friends see what looks like a ghost, he is the one who stands up and orders it to speak. Clad in his suspenders and button-down shirt, Peter is once more High King. “Shadow or spirit or whatever you are," he says, "If you are from Narnia, I charge you in the name of Aslan, speak to me. I am Peter the High King." And when night falls on Narnia for the last time it is Peter, once so scared to speak to Aslan (and even attempted to make Susan do it for him) that shuts the door. It is Peter that jests with Lucy when she weeps for Narnia, trying to lighten the mood. It is Peter that she turns to, time and time again, with her questions. It is Peter that Lucy, and all of the other friends of Narnia, trust to lead them.
It is also Peter, who, “shortly and gravely” tells Tirian about the fall of Susan. Because he has to. Because here he is, once again, the eldest, the leader. Here he is once again faced with the unpleasant task of shouldering the burden for others. But he won’t make Edmund or Lucy explain (in fact, they don’t say anything about Susan). Peter takes that pain for them, forces himself to form words. Perhaps, deep down, he blames himself. He always was a bleeding heart.
There are so many other things I didn’t include. I could talk about how Peter immediately offers to help Tumnus, simply because he did the decent thing and didn’t kidnap Lucy. Or his beautiful, redeemed relationship with Edmund. I could talk about all the times he is a rock for Susan, or his steady leadership despite his own hesitation. But really and truly, my point amounts to this: Peter is a brother. He is steady and humble and down to earth. He is brave. He is chivalrous and courteous and overflowing with affirmation for those he loves. He is a servant heart.
When I think of Peter, I think of carpentry and the honesty of working with your hands. I think of campfires and a night sky full of stars, and the feeling of warm flannel. I think of laughter and 19th century books for boys, and tomes upon tomes of Latin. I think of warm drinks, hot cocoa or coffee or tea, and the safety of home. It is home I think of most of all.

have you ever heard it? can you remember?
i. The gulls were crying. The gulls were always crying, in her memory. Whatever far off places Susan travelled after her family was gone, she always came back to the sea.
ii. The beach at Cair Paravel was the first place in Narnia where she really felt at home. She'd wade into the water with her eyes shut and feel she could be in England, on holiday with her mother and father. She'd open her eyes, and there would be waves cascading endlessly towards her.
iii. Before long, she knew every tidepool, every shoal.
iv. There weren't any bathing suits in Narnia, but no one seemed the least scandalized when Susan took to swimming in her underthings. There wasn't anything else for it, and she had to swim. She just had to.
v. She wasn't the only one of her siblings to love the sea, of course. Edmund loved sand and sailing and reading on the beach, and Peter liked to gaze out at the ocean and think. Lucy spent even more time at the beach than Susan did; she would rise before dawn and sit on the rocks as the sun rose over the waves. Susan was never sure whether her little sister was there to greet the sunrise, or to wait for Aslan.
vi. But for Susan, it was sense-memory. Water was water, wherever she was, and it always reminded her of home. She'd go out past the breakers, pull her limbs into a familiar breast stroke, and she'd feel like she was everywhere she loved all at once.
vii. Aslan came, and she was soaking wet to greet him. He laughed, in his lion-ish way, and didn't mind at all when Susan embraced him.
viii. Somehow, Aslan never got drenched from his journeys across the sea, but he was damp as though with mist. The scent of salt and brine clung to him, an overtone to that fierce, wild smell that was his own. Susan breathed in deep, those two scents she loved most in the world.
ix. In England, back at school, she'd go to the swimming pool and imagine she was in Narnia.
x. It wasn't the same, of course. The swimming pool at her school had no crying gulls, no smell of salt, no cascading waves. There was no Aslan coming towards her from the T-line at the other end of the pool. But if she submerged herself completely, Susan could imagine.
xi. She swam with her eyes shut too often, and her coach was growing irritated. It was affecting her times in practice, which would bleed over into competition if she wasn't careful. Somehow, Susan couldn't be bothered to care.
xii. One weekend, she and Lucy snuck away to visit the boys, and they all went down to the lake to reminisce about Narnia. When Lucy and Edmund spoke of their summer sailing the eastern sea, Susan was positively stiff with jealousy. Yet when they all dove into the water in the end, her heart pounded out a rhythm of home, home.
xiii. Six years after her last trip to Narnia, Susan hadn't touched a bow in four years. She still went swimming every week.
xiv. After the railway accident, she went to live by the sea. She missed her family, and she couldn't stand to live in the places they had lived. She wanted to forget.
xv. Susan had missed the salt air. She had missed the waves. There was a feeling of home by the sea that she couldn't quite place; a soothing echo of long ago dreams and fairytales.
xvi. But there were the gulls crying, "Can you remember?" and it broke her heart all over again.
#susan the competitive swimmer is one of those little details that jack drops once and never metions again#but oh my goodness it HAUNTS me#Susan the competitive swimmer who never saw the last sea!#and like. he doesn't just say 'oh btw this was something she did for a while'#the line is 'swimming and archery were THE THINGS susan was good at'#emphasis mine obv#so i have to imagine that she feels just incredibly at home in the water#and like. the Implications#narnia#leah stories#tender hearted big sis#pontifications and creations#also lol this is just in time for the summer Olympics

A Memorable Goodbye
Pairings: Edmund Pevensie x Reader, some Caspian x Reader (Platonic though)
Summary: When Edmund has to say goodbye to a girl that he has slowly fallen for, something unexpected happens.
Word Count: 983
~A/n~ This is my first story on here so I hope you like it!
"I wish we had more time together." Caspian says to Susan from Y/n's side, a soft smile on his lips. Y/n glances between the two and backs away, sensing the slight tension there.
Once she makes it back to her spot, a few gasps are heard and she looks over at Susan and Caspian. The two stand there, swapping spit like there is no tomorrow. Which, for them, is true.
See, the Pevensie siblings were leaving once again. They saved all of Narnia, had a party, had a few makeout sessions as you can see, and are ready to go back to their world.
Y/n was sad, to say the least. Her and Edmund had grown quite close these past few days and she didn't want to have to say good bye to him.
"I'm sure I'll understand when I'm older." Y/n hears Lucy say from her left. Peter laughs and smiles softly in his younger sisters direction.
"I'm older and I don't think I want to understand." Edmund shakes his head, but instead of looking at his siblings or the two kissing teenagers when he says this, he looks at Y/n.
Peter smiles knowingly at his brother and Lucy simply furrows her eyebrows with a confused smile.
"If you like her, you should tell her before we leave." Peter says, rubbing Edmund's back.
Edmund shrugs his brothers hand off, "What's the point? What if she likes me as well? What, I just tell her, get her hopes up, and leave forever? I can't do that to her."
Peter nods, not having thought of that.
Edmund continues staring at the girl as she makes a disgusted face at her two friends that were still kissing. She turns her head, making eye contact with Edmund.
'Gross' She mouths to him, pointing at his sister who was surprisingly good at holding her breath.
He lets out a quiet chuckle at the girls face and she makes her way over. He panics slightly in his mind but remain calm on the outside.
"I'll miss you, King Edmund." She says with a teasing smile.
Edmund swears he could've melted just from her smile alone. It was one of the most beautiful things about her, he absolutely adores it.
"I'll miss you, Queen Y/n." Edmund says, making her eyes widen.
"Queen?"
"You are my wife, no?"
Y/n chokes on her spit, not having prepared for those words to leave Edmund's mouth. She had long forgotten about the stupid promise he had made when they were fighting at the castle.
Edmund was being attacked and Y/n ran to help him. He was meant to use a torch to help signal all of the Narnian's, but he had been compromised.
Y/n gripped her sword as tightly as possible, running as fast as she could to get to him. She burst through the door and slashed the man across the back, he groaned in pain and dropped Edmund to the ground, turning to Y/n with a furious glare. Edmund rushes to grab his own sword but he couldn't find it.
Y/n glares at the man as he pulls out both his and Edmund's swords. Y/n was not one to test,especially while angry. Edmund knew this, hell all of the Narnian's knew it. She used her sword to make both swords fly out of the mans hands. She steps forward and stabs him in the stomach, when he falls to his knees she pulls her blade from his stomach and kicks him in the...sensitives.
Edmund looks at her as if she placed the stars in the sky, "When all of this is over, I'm gonna marry you."
Y/n raises a brow and smirks, "I'll hold you to that."
"You never did put a ring on it, though. How dare you break your promise." Y/n pushes his shoulder and pouts jokingly.
Edmund smiles and lowers his gaze, "Sorry about that."
Aslan's voice brings the two from their conversation.
"It is time you leave, children."
Y/n looks over to Edmund, "Goodbye, Pevensie. Love ya."
Edmund's heart beats wildly at her words and he gains a boost of courage. He leans down and places a soft kiss to the girls cheek, making her grin.
"You missed."
"Huh?"
"You missed."
Y/n grabs Edmund by the collar and pulls him into a sweet kiss. Her soft lips meet his slightly chapped ones in one of the best kisses Edmund could have ever imagined. He places is hands on her waist just as she pulls away.
"I-I l-love you, t-too." He stutters out, heart beating so fast that he's struggling to breath.
Y/n smiles and pulls herself out of his grasp, kissing his forehead and walking away.Edmund watches her as she walks past all of his siblings giving them each a wave.
"What, no kiss for me y/n/n?" Susan asks as a joke, pouting at Y/n.
"You've gotten enough action." Y/n says, smirking at Caspian as said boy looks down with a pink blush spreading across his face.
Y/n walks over to Caspian and stands next to him as he wraps an arm around her shoulders. She lays her head on his shoulder as they both watch the people they are in love with leave.
Caspian rubs her shoulder in comfort as they stand there in a comfortable silence, Edmund stepping through the portal first.
Then Peter who waves to everyone, including all of the people who are watching this scene.
Then Susan, who blows a kiss in Caspian's direction before stepping through the portal.
Then Lucy goes, smiling at everyone before leaving.
"Well that was a memorable goodbye." Y/n says, touching her lips in slight disbelief of the fact that she actually kissed the boy. The boy she had fallen for. The boy she had trained with for days. The boy who made her laugh within that awful time. The boy of which she loved.
Edmund Pevensie.

A Love Connection Part 2
Hey guys! Did you miss me? LOL!
Just a heads up this chapter is a little angsty because we have get Steve desperate enough to try going on a game show. But have no fear, it doesn't last long.
Also in this Susan Mayfield never marries Neil Hargrove, but she moves to Hawkins because her job moved her there. So Billy and Max aren't step-siblings.
Part 1
~
Steve nearly had a panic attack right there in the car when Chrissy screamed. There wasn’t a crisis. Or at least not one that needed immediate attention. What it was, was their little drunk text about #needsmoregays at A Love Connection went viral. There were actual fucking news articles. Yeah, the first was from Pink News, but the rest? Actual fucking trades. Variety, Dateline, even The Hollywood Reporter, for fuck’s sake.
Steve was going to pass out, but he managed to get them to the school safely. Thankfully there was nothing on Chrissy profile that was her real name or where she worked. She had a work Twitter for that. And that one was only on her computer at work. She was very careful not to cross the two. So there weren’t any news people out front of the school. But her DMs were filled with requests for comments or even actual interviews.
He decided she could do whatever the hell she wanted, he wasn’t going to get involved in this. She’s the one that drunk tweeted. Yeah, it was because of something he said when he was also drunk. But still!
He also decided ignore Chrissy and Robin at lunch, choosing instead to have it in his classroom to avoid them. Because, yes, he was avoiding them thank you. He just wanted to see gay people have love, too. Last Saturday was a disaster and he wanted proof that gays like he could find love.
Luckily, it was only a nine day wonder and Chrissy’s inbox went back to normal. Or as about as normal as one can get after have a tweet go viral.
They were cruising through the school year, same as always. There were always the super smart kids and the ones that didn’t care about history. So Steve always tried to make it as fun as possible.
Gladiator days where they wrestled stuff animals. Letting the kids stab him in March. Building their own mini pyramids. His hallpass was a gladius for extra fun.
They were gearing up the for Olympic games just before Christmas when Mrs. Byers, the principal pulled him out of his class.
“Hey, Steve,” she said warmly, “you’re not in trouble.”
Steve looked over his shoulder at his class before looking back at her. “Okay...”
She smiled up at him sweetly. “I was wondering if you’d be willing to watch the AV club today after school? Mr. Jenner went home because he’s puking his guts out. Normally I would just cancel, but a couple of the kids are in the club because their parents can’t pick them up until after seven.”
He let out a long sigh. He was going to go home and get ready to go try a new bar Chrissy had found. But now, by the time he got home, showered, and ate it would be too late to go out.
“Yeah, sure, Mrs. Byers,” he said.
“Thank you so much, Steve,” Mrs. Byers said. “Mr. Jenner will be so grateful too.”
Steve nodded and then waited until she walked away to roll his eyes. Nate Jenner’s alcohol problem was the worst kept secret in the school. Even students were aware that there were times he taught drunk. Most kids didn’t know why he would be slurring his words or conked out on his desk; only that they were his ‘bad days’. But the kids who did know? They tended to shield the other kids from the worst of it.
The problem was that Mr. Jenner was two years from retirement and they didn’t want to make him lose his pension. Which Steve thought that he absolutely should. That old coot had no business teaching students like that.
He went back to teaching his class, wondering who they got to cover Mr. Jenner’s classes. He finally got through to the last class and went to the science ‘wing’ of the school. He walked up to Mr. Jenner’s class room and there was Robin coming out of it.
“Now that’s just unfair,” he moaned. “If you were watching his classes, why couldn’t you watch the AV club?”
Robin patted him on the shoulder. “Because I played the dumb blonde routine until Mrs. Byers gave up.” She waved at him as she walked away.
With a sigh, Steve went into the room and began getting out the equipment that they would need. He didn’t know much about radios and shit, but he did know what they did and didn’t need.
He had just gotten set up when the first of the kids arrived.
He wasn’t surprised to see Will come in first. With his mom as principal, all of the teachers tended to tiptoe around him as to not have any ‘misdeeds’ taken back to her, so his last class never went over. Ever.
The next couple of kids to file in were Dustin Henderson and Lucas Sinclair. They both had Robin’s Spanish class last period, so it was no surprise to see them together.
“Sinclair!” Steve said, fist bumping the kid. “What are you doing with these nerds?” He was only joking and they all knew that. Lucas had been friends with Will, Dustin, and their other friend Mike since Dustin moved in in the second grade. Lucas loved history and was one of Steve’s brightest students so he liked to pick on him for his choice of friends.
“Sorry, Coach,” Lucas said with a grin, “if I wasn’t around they’d fall into an uncovered manhole or something.”
Steve gave Dustin their secret handshake, complete with death and everything to make up for the nerd comment. But Dustin and Will took it all in stride. They were used to the teasing.
A couple other kids came in. One spotted Steve and immediately walked back out.
“Some people just aren’t made for fun,” he lamented to the kid’s retreating back. “I’m just too cool for some people’s children. It’s not my fault.”
They all chuckled and then finally the last member of the AV club arrived. Mike Wheeler.
He sighed when he saw Steve, but didn’t turn around. He threw his backpack on the nearest desk and slumped into the chair with a heavy sigh. “Why can’t we get a teaching advisor who isn’t such a flake!”
Steve wiped his brow internally. Mike didn’t like him all the time, so the fact that he was complaining about Mr. Jenner not being there rather than Steve taking his place was a relief, honestly. It meant he wouldn’t be grumpy the whole time.
“All right everyone,” Steve said, clapping his hands together. “Dustin is in charge, Will will take notes for next time. Let’s go!”
The club went as well as could be expected considering Steve really didn’t have any idea of how all this stuff worked.
After class while Steve was waiting on the curb with the ‘Party’ as they called themselves, waiting for their parents to pick them up texting Robin and Chrissy.
“Coach...” Lucas asked, “did we ruin your plans?”
Steve felt a stab in his chest as his head shot up to look the kid in the eye. He looked down at his phone where there were dozens of messages bitching Robin out for leaving him with the AV club because she had a girlfriend and Steve didn’t even have that. Or boyfriend, which was his preference. He had dated women in the past but he liked men more. Or rather liked men full stop. That was certainly a revelation and a half.
He put his phone away with a sigh. “No, Lucas you didn’t. It was due to the irresponsible behavior of Mr. Jenner. He’s the one to blame. I was just a little annoyed at Miss Buckley because she knows this stuff better than I do, but got out of it under false pretenses.” His eyes cut to Will. “Don’t tell your mom I just said that. I don’t want Miss Buckley in trouble.”
Will held up his hands in surrender. Steve nodded.
“I love history and sports and swimming,” he began, he held up his hand to stall whatever words were going to come out that kid’s mouth. “For fun, Dustin. I like swimming for fun, which is why I didn’t include it in sports.”
Dustin huffed and crossed his arms over his chest with a pout.
“I like going out with friends and meeting new people,” Steve finished, “and of course I love teaching you kids. But I look around me and I just see someone who’s stagnated before he’s even thirty.” He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. “I don’t know why I’m telling a bunch of teenagers this. Sorry.”
Will put his hand in Steve’s. “You’ll find someone. If my mom can find someone at her age, you can find someone, too.”
Steve gave his hand a squeeze and didn’t point out that Mrs. Byers, Joyce had already had two kids and had been divorced by the time she was thirty so it really didn’t count.
Mike’s mom Karen arrived first. Mike just waved goodbye and slipped into the passenger side of her car.
Steve shook his head. Mike was trying to learn how to balance friends and liking girls and after school activities. He’d get there.
Dustin’s mom and Will’s older brother Jonathan arrived at the same time. Jonathan was Steve’s age, but Will have been born over a decade after him as a last ditch attempt to save his parents’ marriage.
Steve waved goodbye to them and then it was just Steve and Lucas.
“My mom always told me,” Lucas said softly, “that there might not be one person out there for everyone, but there is the right person out there for what you need right now. I think she was trying to explain why Mrs. Byers had two husbands, but I think it works for you, too. You’ll find you right person at the right time.”
Steve blinked down at this boy, barely thirteen. He rubbed the top of Lucas’s head. “Thanks, kid.”
Just then his dad pulled up. “Go on,” Steve murmured. “I’ll see you after the break.”
Lucas re-shouldered his backpack to just the one shoulder. He paused as if he wanted to say something else, he just shook his head.
“See you later, Coach!”
He got into his into dad’s car and immediately started talking to him about school excitedly.
Steve pulled his coat tighter around him. He wanted to be that dad, but as time wore on it was looking less and less likely. He went back inside to clean up and grab his stuff. He had a pile of assignments he had to grade. He never gave homework and never did tests. Both were pointless in his opinion, plus it meant that he less stuff to mark and grade. He based his grades off participation and being able to stay on task.
He walked through the darkened halls and felt the weight of it on his shoulders. His best friend and her girlfriend were out having the time of their lives, while he was alone in more ways than one.
He didn’t even Garfield to keep him company anymore. Yeah, he was just a stupid goldfish, but he was Steve’s.
The cold seeped into his bones and buried into his heart. He was even going to be alone for Christmas. Chrissy was taking Robin to her brother’s for the holiday. They felt bad because they both knew Steve’s parents had cut him off long ago and didn’t have anywhere else to go.
But he had encouraged Robin going. Meeting her girlfriend’s family was important. And with Chrissy and her brother, Peter both being estranged from their parents it was even more important than usual. They promised they would be back for New Year’s and Steve promised he would be fine.
He stepped onto the curb and stopped, tilting his head back, eyes closed as he fought back tears. When the first snowflake landed it made him flinch at the sudden extra coldness to his cheek. That one was followed by another and another. It was hell.
He opened his eyes and let the snow melt on his lashes, the cold mingling with his hot tears.

setting: modern au, no mentions of narnia contains: fluff & crack, modern alternate universe, they are children in the image but ages are unspecified (so it could be romantic or platonic), mentions of in-game player & pet deaths,
➤ author's note: i had a dream that peter died in my arms while we were playing minecraft and decided to write cute headcanons when i woke up like a loser
━━━ .°˖✧ lucy pevensie ˚₊ ⊹
╰₊✧ favorite biome - cherry grove, favorite mob - frogs, favorite flower - lily of the valley, favorite wood - birch, favorite block - moss
╰₊✧ she takes her time when it comes to completing the game and may take forever to get to the end dimension, prefering to play on peaceful mode so that she can focus on exploring and creating with keep inventory on since she doesn’t want to stress out about playing, enjoying everything it has to offer and will continuously pause on making progress to admire the scenery (but sometimes she turns it on easy mode to give her a little challenge when caving). oddly enough, even if the difficulty was on hard mode, she never seems to encounter any hostile mobs and they all decide to attack you instead while mining. it’s not an uncommon occurrence for her to tell you that she found her eighth patch of diamonds only for you to scream in response because you found a zombie spawner. she’ll manage to make it out of a pillager outpost without losing so much as half a heart while you’re looking like a pincushion, how does she do it?
╰₊✧ more of a farmer player who is mesmerized by all the different types of flowers and will have a goal of harvesting all of them to make colorful fields that stretch on for longer than your render distance will allow you to see. she’s most excited about updates that have new plants, wood types, and animals, keeping pets of all kinds even if they aren’t meant to be domesticated! her base is practically a zoo and is always full of life just like she is, yet it still naturally blends in with the area so well that it seems naturally generated at first glance. on a creepier note, the more hidden areas might have a skull or two placed to fit an overgrown and abandoned aesthetic, but at least it’s pretty with all of the spore blossoms!
╰₊✧ lucy hates villager trading farms with a passion, finding them too inhumane despite the fact that the villagers are npcs without sentience of any sort. it breaks her heart to see them in such cramped living conditions whose only purpose is for trade, so she’ll work on freeing them while you’re offline. she’ll spend hours upon hours gathering materials in secret to build a nicer village than the one they formally resided in before dismantling your system, with a good amount of iron golems to protect them from hostile mobs since she didn’t want to restrict them by building a fence or walls. (don’t worry, all of them are named and she’s kept a book on all of their trades so that you can keep track! the hard part is only tracking them down, but the big village is a thousand times better than the ugly trading hall you had before).
━━━ .°˖✧ edmund pevensie ˚₊ ⊹
╰₊✧ favorite biome - ice spikes, favorite mob - horses, favorite flower - torchflower, favorite wood - dark oak, favorite block - prismarine
╰₊✧ he enjoys speedrunning, the only thing standing between him and being on the leaderboard is minor slip-ups that cost the entire game. he tends to get too cocky, especially once he’s gathered all he needed from the nether fortress and prematurely celebrates before a blaze knocks him off the edge, so you bet that you’re going to hear him come up with the most creative insults you would ever hear over the discord call (not including swears because he will be scolded for his language by someone in his house). his best record of beating the game is around forty minutes, nothing to gawk at, but something that he’s very proud of after all of his practice.
╰₊✧ if it’s not a world dedicated to that, where he doesn’t need to build a base, then he’ll place down all of the essentials and call it a day without a roof over his head. it’s not like he can actually get wet from the rain or sunburn from the sun, so he doesn’t bother and just lives like that until you persuade him to at least dig out a hole in a mountain to keep away from night-time mobs and expand whenever needed. his scattered chests are a mess, by the way, you can’t find anything while he just spam clicks and glazes over the screen to find something in his strange little system. he insists that he knows where everything is and that organization isn’t needed.
╰₊✧ also a total prankster, but will never blow up builds or destroy anything of yours because he knows how much time you put into it for a minute of amusement. he likes watching where you log out and trapping you in that spot with obsidian, something that you can easily get out of with a pick but is still annoying enough for him to get a kick out of it. once he wasn’t sure where the exact spot was, so he spent an entire real-life night meticulously encasing the area in glass and then flooding every block of air with water. he wondered multiple times if the effort was worth it in the process, but he cried tears of laughter when you couldn’t get out at all since you drowned before you could break the glass and then swim out. it was an endless cycle of “died by drowning” until you offered him a chest of iron blocks for your freedom.

╰₊✧ favorite biome - mountains, favorite mob - foxes, favorite flower - rose bushes, favorite wood - mangrove, favorite block - quartz
╰₊✧ has mixed feelings on redstone, something that makes so much yet so little sense. it’s something that she likes to think that she mastered quickly, but you can always hear her muttering under her breath about how an entire contraption broke because of something dumb like the repeater being a tick off. she always covers up these machines with big, elaborate builds in a unique gothic style that you’ve only seen from her— although most of these builds are hollow since she doesn’t know how to design the interior, leaving entire towns empty until she lets you fill them up with various shops and villagers to make it feel more lived-in.
╰₊✧ refuses to throw anything away and maybe has a bit of a hoarding tendency, you cannot convince her to toss so much as a rotten potato into the lava because she “might need it in the future” even though it’s the most worthless item in the game. her storage system is immense and conscientiously organized with item frames and color signs while practically overflowing, but she has copious amounts of everything and is very generous when it comes to sharing as long as you ask beforehand! (as a result, her least favorite mobs are creepers because she needs to sort out the damaged chests before everything disappears, a complete nightmare)
╰₊✧ has god-like accuracy with any projectiles and has mending on her bow because she hates how expensive it is to get a new one with maxed-out enchantments and argues about how it’s so much better than infinity once she made the switch. you need an inventory slot with at least one arrow anyway, so why can’t you just have the full stack when you can always pick up more by killing skeletons? it may be a bit pretentious of her, but she might mock you that you just have a skill issue when she sees you being a bad shot before giving you some tips on how to improve.
━━━ .°˖✧ peter pevensie ˚₊ ⊹
╰₊✧ favorite biome - fields, favorite mob - dogs/wolves, favorite flower - oxeye daisy, favorite wood - spruce, favorite block - diamond ore
╰₊✧ from “the sky’s the limit” to “whatever floats your goat,” the game isn’t done until he’s gotten all of the achievements no matter how stupid they may be! he’s pretty serious about completing, but once he’s finished, you can see him start goofing off and being more ridiculous. unlike his brother who plays the pranks, he tends to be the victim of them and can’t get revenge at all because his traps are a bit obvious (lucy always helps him out in that department). on the other hand, he’s great at pvp and fighting mobs, best with a sword, and likes to start raids to fight for fun with the “hero of the village” effect being a massive ego boost as well.
╰₊✧ his builds are pretty boring and cramped since he never upgrades it as needed, his house is really just a box made out of planks from the surrounding area. he didn’t think that you could create anything pleasing to the eye in a game where everything is made from cubes, so you’ll need to open his eyes to the fact that he can construct whatever he wants and how the only limit is his creativity. he won’t advance any further than using two different types of woods and including cobblestone, it simply isn’t his strong suit and he would much rather spend his time exploring and slaying his enemies instead.
╰₊✧ he has so many dogs, it’s not even funny, you need to turn down the volume for passive mobs whenever you’re at his base because they are barking nonstop. it’s not intentional either, he just somehow constantly forgets that feeding them makes them breed and can’t ever resist not giving them some steak when they tilt their heads at him. he gave up on naming all of them since he didn’t have enough tags and dying all of their collars after building a separate home for them, but the original ones that he tamed in the wild remain in his bedroom. despite the number of dogs, he refuses to take any of them on adventures with them because he will cry when unnamed number two hundred-something dies after sniffing lava and holds a funeral with a proper burial place.

Some Facts and Headcanons about the Blythe kids' appearances
Including how tall I think they are in relation to each other and who they look the most like
Jem
We know that Jem has Anne's red hair but Gilbert's curls as well as his eye color (hazel). He's said to be tall, have Anne's nose, Gilbert's mouth (and probably smile), and "the only one of the family who had ears nice enough to please Susan" (RV)
Pretty much, he's a good mix of Anne and Gilbert
The AoGG wikia also kinda roasts him by adding "Although not as handsome as his brother, Walter, or his best friend, Jerry, Jem grew up to be a good-looking young man" (rip lol, why'd they go with 2 comparisons on his looks in one sentence)
He's also decently tall, though it doesn't specify any comparisons in how tall. I'd say probably a solid 5'10 or 11.
Walter
He's considered the "handsomest of the Ingleside children" with straight black hair, and dark grey eyes.
Given that Anne also has grey eyes (though more green-gray, iirc), and the fact that he doesn't look like any known relative, I feel like there's a chance he looks like either one of Walter or Bertha's siblings (if they had any at any point) or one of their parents, his great-grandparents
As for height, I feel like he was always close in height to Jem growing up, only an inch or two shorter. They end up being roughly the same height by the time they stop growing
Nan
We find out exactly who Nan looks like in the series! During Anne of Ingleside, we find out she looks just like her Grandma Blythe. Consequently, she looks a lot like Gilbert, too -- the most of the daughters to look like him, in fact
She has straight brown hair and brown eyes. Her hair is considered silky, too. Anne appreciates the fact that at least Nan can wear pink out of her daughters
As for height, she's taller than Rilla, but still pretty short. Like, Rilla is barely shorter than her. It's a tough victory but she's not the shortest so ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯
Di
Anne's mini-me! Di has her red hair and green eyes. Her hair is said to have a "swirl to it" so I'm assuming that means she got Gil's curls as well (or at least some waves).
Since she looks so much like Anne, we can likely assume she's also pretty freckled
I like to think she's the tallest of the daughters. Like 5'8 or so, not too much shorter than Jem. While growing up, she was always taller than Nan but not too much -- Nan just stopped growing first
Shirley
Ah, Susan's "little brown boy" aka brown hair, brown eyes, and a darker skin tone than the Blythe kids who got Anne's Very White skin tone. He looks the most like Nan out of his siblings, and is the son that looks the most like Gilbert (just a slight difference in eye color)
We got nothing on his hair texture but I tend to picture him with curly hair too, probably just because of that "pretty close to Gilbert's mini-me" thing I've concluded
Little siblings have a bad habit of being rude and ending up taller than their older siblings. (I say this as an oldest child who has a younger sister that's a good few inches taller than me.) Because of that, I like to think that Shirley ends up the tallest of the Blythe kids. Idk how much taller than Gilbert that would make him, if at all, but he'd be pretty tall, definitely at least 6'2
Rilla
Rilla is a good mix between Gilbert and Anne, just in a different combo than Jem. She has Gilbert's hazel eyes, Anne's freckles, and "ripely, ruddily brown" which is probably exactly what Anne wanted her hair to be when she was younger. So, pretty much, she started auburn/red-haired and turned more brunette as she got older. The red is probably most visible in the summer sun
There also isn't anything about her hair texture, either. I'd say it's either wavy or the type of straight hair that actually does hold heated curls and hairdos better than others
Rilla is the baby and, unfortunately for her, I picture her as the shortest of the family. She's like an inch shorter than Nan. All growing up she probably said stuff like "I'll be taller than both of you!" to the twins and then. it just never happened. Sorry, girl
Fun Facts (aka all this but reworded exclusively)
Jem is the only son with Anne's hair color; he's the only son with Gilbert's eye color
Walter is the only kid with the grey-side of Anne's eyes. He has the darkest hair in the entire family
Nan is the only daughter with brown eyes
Di is the only one with the green-side of Anne's eyes, making her the one with the lightest eyes
Shirley is the only son with brown eyes
Rilla is the only daughter with Gilbert's eyes
None of the children inherited Walter Shirley's blue eyes (probably since the dark-eyed gene is so strong)
None of the children inherited Bertha's blonde hair
And Grandparent Look-Alikes
Jem and Di, because of their red hair, look most like Walter Shirley out of all of their grandparents. Di probably moreso than Jem
We only know John Blythe has brown hair, so it's also possible Nan looks like Grandma Blythe and Shirley looks like John with Gilbert either looking like John or a mix of his parents
Nan is the only grandkid confirmed to look exactly like a grandparent
Walter is an anomaly so who actually knows lol
--
Anyway, I don't really have a reason for posting this other than, hopefully, as a helpful guide to others and as a way for me to make sure my hcs for their appearances are written out so I don't mix up my thoughts in the future. Feel free to add any hc's you might have involving the Blythe kids and their appearances!

Coming back from Narnia pt. 2 Edmund
When Edmund is put back into the body of a ten year old, after having a taste of adulthood, he’s absolutely distraught. His chess pieces, Cair Paravel, the street lamp, everything’s gone.
He looks at his siblings, almost likely suffering, and they slowly stand up, hand in hand, facing the now strange world once again.
At home Helen doesn’t notice much change in her youngest boy. Apart from the newfound affection towards her and his beloved people and the interest he seems to cultivate in war strategy and chess, he looks like the boy he was before the beginning of the war.
But nothing’s like it seems.
Edmund is pestered by violent dreams full of war and bloodshed, just like Peter is. But he somehow controls them better, at least doesn’t wake up screaming at the top of his lungs. Even though sometimes he does wake up in the middle of the night, and not for the scared screaming of his brother next door, and so he silently rises from his bed, clutching tightly his night robe, scared to hit something in the dark as he ascends down the corridor to his older sister’s bedroom.
Susan barely even opens her eyes as she feels Edmund hugging her tightly, pressing his tear stained cheeks in her nightgown silently, listening to her shallow and regular heartbeat.
She slowly moves her hands through his hair until he calms down and stops shaking, until his breath becomes shallow and regular as well.
She doesn’t sing a melody, nor comforts him with words. She knows that nothing will ever fill the deep chasm that is inside Edmund’s heart since he began fighting at the ripe age of eleven. And she doesn’t mention it during the day. But their mother has found them countless times curled up into one another well past the rise of the sun, also comforting one another in deep sleep.
Edmund’s teachers find him astonishing. He’s very talented and good with words, so precise with his wording that a few classmates have started to call him silver tongue.
Ed’s flattered, but every time he hears that name he makes a very nostalgic expression, almost like remembering something far, far away.
Mostly because his counselors used to call him silver tongued, also astonished by his long formal and exquisite letters he used to write to neighboring countries in the name of Peter the Magnificent.
But he is not only good with words.
As soon as he joins the chess club, which, obviously, is one of the first things he asks to do to his mum shortly after coming back; he finds truthful rivals worth many long nights in front of fireplaces with a chessboard at hand.
His rivals actually never find a way to understand his strategies, but once or twice somebody manages to beat him. Maybe after having had a short chat with one of Edmund’s sisters, but that he mustn’t know of course.
So through this valid rivalry he does find one or two friends and so often invites them to play against him in front of a freshly made pack of Turkish delights and a hot cup of tea. Who is to say no that ?
But Edmund also takes on fencing. Sure, the literary courses and activities are between his favorites, but he dearly misses fighting with a sword at hand, forever reminiscing the time when he always had a sword at his side and a shield in his hand.
So he takes on fencing. And he is surely grandiose at it. Actually, after not even a week, he even manages to beat the instructor, who baffled, must also somehow explain to his other students how Edmund beat him, even though he himself cannot really formulate a proper explanation.
So, bored, Edmund forces his brother to take on fencing as well.
At first Peter isn’t really delighted of the idea, thinking that the balance of fencing is completely different, making it hard for such a prude knight as him, but somehow Edmund manages to convince him, and boy was it the right decision.
Edmund and Peter right away find a kind of balance of their own, swinging through the classroom light as feathers. A few students even think that they’re dancing instead of fencing. But the Pevensie brothers just have a connection of their own, different from all kinds of stuff those people had seen before.
Ah, and of course another hobby of his. Edmund deeply enjoys reading, often also to other people. He loves reading lavish tales about faraway kingdoms to Lucy, who loves to be lulled into his arms while imagining those faraway kingdoms.
But he also appreciates silence while reading.
All the siblings know where to find their brother when they’re desperately searching for him, and he is overjoyed to be found in the library, feet tucked under his legs, arms with book in hand resting on the mahogany leather armrest of the comfortable chair he was sitting in.
His library back in Narnia was almost as big as a small ballroom, but back in London he has to settle with a single wall full of books.
But that does not stop him from buying more books. The bookshop employees of the little bookstore at the angle of a small street know him very well by now, even offering discounts, knowing he will always be back for other books that might peek his interest the next time he visits the little bookshop.
And so also Edmund has left a piece of his soul back in Narnia, desperately trying to fill the hole with hobbies and interests he also had back there.
But nothing will ever feel like Narnia, except - maybe- returning there…

I WILL STAY WITH YOU
KingCaspian X Pevensie!Reader
Summary: To which Y/n decides to stay in Narnia the second time and ends up meeting up with her brothers in the Dawn Treader.
Words: 1.5K+
Warnings: Mention of battle, golden age characters, marriage, mentions of pregnancy.
Author: Always saying that English is not my first language, I ask for forgiveness for any mistakes that may be made in writing. Just let me know, here Y/n has her romantic home which is Caspian, but I will portray more of the sibling relationship she has with Edmund and Lucy. (I'll write part 2 and 3, I'll let you know)
MASTERLIST
Y/n Pevensie was a sweet, kind, cheerful and very understanding girl. He thought about himself and others, he cared about any detail that could be bothering his brothers, especially the two youngest.
She was the oldest of the five, Y/n was three years older than Peter and in her mind, she was responsible for her siblings when their parents weren't present. Of course, Peter always helped him with his younger brothers, they were very close.
And when they went to Narnia for the first time, the responsibility on Y/n grew even more. Well, you see, Edmund was being attracted by the White Witch, no one initially believed Lucy when she said she found a new world in the house's wardrobe and the fact that they were in a totally magical place with magical creatures didn't help either.
However, after the war ended, the five Pevensies became kings and queens of Narnia.
Queen Y/n, the warrior.
King Peter the Magnificent.
Queen Susan, the gentle.
King Edmund the Just
And Queen Lucy, the fearless.
Oh, it was a beautiful 15 years of reign for the five brothers, until one day it all ended in the blink of an eye.
It was a while before everything went back to normal and they adapted to the routine in England again.
Until the second call to Narnia happened.
Ah, that calling.
Everything changed for Y/n, this time she went to Narnia. The queen had met Prince Caspian, a gentlemanly, respectful, loving, kind and sweet man. Everything Y/n looked for in someone.
After the Beruna war took place, the Pevensie brothers spent a few weeks at the castle with the Prince until Peter decided it was time to return to England. Of course, in the meantime Caspian and Y/n's relationship grew, developed and matured. Even though they are young and 17/18 years old.
After much conversation and explanation from Aslan, Y/n decided that she would not return to England again. She felt that Narnia was truly her place and that her destiny was set there. In magical lands and with Caspian by your side.
The brothers' farewell to Y/n was very strong, no one knew if they would see their older sister again.
Hugs, confessions and endearing words were exchanged between them as Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy returned to London.
Now, 3 years after the brothers returned. Y/n was more than happy where she belonged.
She and Caspian had been married a year ago and things in Narnia were going from good to better. Peace reigned in the Narnian lands and there was nothing Y/n wanted more.
Obviously, she missed her brothers and asked Aslan so that at least once, she could see them.
And he answered!!
Y/n, Caspian and some of Narnia's strongest soldiers had left for a journey with the Dawn Treader. Caspian didn't really know what was right about this trip, but he knew he needed to do it.
The day had been dawning for a few hours, the sun was hot but the autumn wind made the sailors' bodies shiver.
Y/n was in the office below deck. She was organizing some papers she brought from Narnia so that as soon as she returned, she could tackle the next project.
A knock on the door is heard by the queen.
"Come in" she says and sees the door open, but doesn't see anyone enter. Well, until the creature jumps on your table. "Reep, what a scare!!" She laughs, placing her hand on her chest.
"I'm sorry, your majesty. I know I can't scare you," he bows in front of the woman and she laughs.
"Okay, Reep. Did you want to say something?" Y/n says pleasantly while looking at the mouse that was on her desk.
"Of course. Well, King Caspian is requesting your presence there on deck. It looks like we have views that came from the sea." He says smiling, already knowing who it was.
Y/n's eyes lit up at the phrase from her right-hand man and mouse friend. At the moment, she even wondered if it could be her brothers. But there was no doubt, she asked Aslan for almost 4 years to see her brothers again. She was a good queen and Aslan pushed to make it happen.
"By Aslan's mane!! Will it be my brothers?" Y/n throws the papers on the table and runs out of the office room and quickly goes upstairs.
"Your majesty, please!! Slow down!!" Reepicheep runs after the queen. "My legs are short"
When Y/n arrives at the top of the stairs, on the deck of the ship, she sees her husband ahead helping Lucy to balance herself and enter the Dawn Treader. A huge smile appears on the Warrior Queen's face before going to meet her sister.
"LUCYY!!" Y/n screams making the girl turn around quickly.
“Y/N!!” She responds and runs into her older sister's hug.
Lucy snuggles her head into her sister's neck while Y/n hugged her little sister tightly.
"I missed you so much" Lucy says while shedding some tears.
"You have no idea" Y/n wipes away a lone tear that falls and leaves her sister's embrace.
Lucy smiles at her and looks away to check on her sister. She frowns as she runs down her sister's body and a sweet smile appears on her face.
"Eds!!!" Y/n screams as Caspian helps his brother get to the ship.
“Y/N!?” He says surprised, but still happy.
The two brothers hug tightly and Ed inhales the sweet smell that his sister always had. It was a mix of watermelon and something sweeter that he could never identify.
Y/n and Edmund have always been more attached to each other. Of course, Y/n loved everyone equally and would do anything for them. But she felt that Ed had his own special way.
Just like Peter was attached to Lucy.
"I thought I would never see you again" Ed mumbles in a bitter voice, as he swallows the tears and leaves the hug.
"But hey, we're here!!" She kisses her brother's head and he smiles.
When she walks away, Edmund looks at his older sister and suddenly looks at Lucy. The youngest just nods her head, agreeing that she had also seen the same thing and they smile together.
With that, Caspian approaches the three and smiles.
"It's really good to see you here--" he says smiling until Eustace starts to mumble.
"Is that Eustace??" Y/n asks her brothers in horror.
Edmund just rolls his eyes and agrees.
"The idiot was with us right when we were called here"
"Ed!!"
"Lied?" He looks at Lucy and she smiles.
Eustace ends up fainting when a minotaur talks to him.
"Did I say something?"
S/n laugh.
"Don't worry, you didn't do anything. It's just that it's not common to have minotaurs in London" She explains and the minotaur nods, leaving them away.
"Come, Y/n and I have a lot to talk about with you" Caspian directs the Pevensies to the office and begins to tell them everything that happened when they were away.
While Caspian showed everything and told what they had done over the years, Lucy discreetly watched from the sidelines when Y/n would sometimes put her hand on her belly and caress it before taking it off.
"And how many years have passed there?" Y/n asks turning to Ed.
"1 year? And here?"
"3 years"
"At least it hasn't been 1000 years, like last time." he says and the rest smile.
"And then Caspian..." Lucy looks at the king and smiles. "Have you found a queen for yourself yet?"
Caspian approaches Y/n and puts his arm around her waist, while she smiles and rests her head on the king's chest.
"Not only did I find it, but I got married and we're expecting our first heir." He smiles and kisses his wife's head.
"It looks like I've become queen again" Y/n smiles and rubs her hand over her stomach.
Lucy and Edmund open their mouths in surprise and smile happily.
"I knew!!" Lucy screams happily and runs to Y/n to give her a hug. "Congratulations to you both" the girl smiles and looks at Caspian.
"Does that mean we'll be uncles?" Y/n nods at Edmund, who was standing in place absorbing all the news.
"Yes, Eds!! You will be uncles" She smiles and opens her arms, when her brother runs to her and hugs her tightly.
"Congratulations to you. You deserve every achievement" Ed smiles and shakes Caspian's hand, who was now his brother-in-law and his nephew's father.
"How old are you?" Lucy asks still excited.
“3 months” Y/n smiled.
Lucy smiles happily and looks at Edmund.

'tis the damn season — harringrove relay race
Summary: A modern AU in which Steve has to spend the holidays alone for the first time. It's a good thing his next-door neighbor has other ideas. Pairing: Steve Harrington/Billy Hargrove Rating: T Word Count: 1k A/N: This is my contribution to the Harringrove Relay Race ( @harringrove-relay-race ).
When Robin said she had to go back to Hawkins for Christmas, Steve tried to tell himself it was a good thing. He’d have the entire apartment to himself, which meant he could lounge on the couch in his pajamas and eat whatever he wanted without any comments from his friend. It would be a good thing, because Dustin was always telling them that they needed to learn how to exist apart, citing something about ‘codependency’ or some shit that Steve never bothered to really pay attention to.
He told himself it didn’t matter that everyone he knew had a home to return to for the holidays, and he was stuck in the rundown apartment he and Robin could barely afford in the middle of San Francisco.
At first, it was even fun. He danced around the living room to his music without any complaints from Robin about the amount of Springsteen that existed on his mixtapes and didn’t bother to cook a single meal on his own when pizza delivery was an easy solution.
But then the apartment grew hauntingly and stiflingly quiet, even when the music still blared. Nothing seemed to solve his loneliness.
At least, until his neighbor made himself known.
It was the guy who lived in the studio apartment across the hall, the one that Robin had lovingly called ‘Malibu Barbie’ after seeing him return one morning with a surfboard under his arm. He was quiet most of the time, with the only proof that he was around being the occasional blasting of his rock music (not that Steve minded, it was proof there were other people around).
They’d never had any reason to talk before, but Steve supposed December made everyone act strangely for one reason or another.
“Where’s the girlfriend?” Steve’s neighbor asked when Steve came home from work one night, exhausted from the last day of classes before the elementary kids went on winter break. The neighbor looked more casual the usual, dressed only in jeans and a white tank which revealed the beginnings of a tattoo sleeve winding its way down his right arm. He was holding a laundry basket close to his hip, his front door barely cracked open as if he’d started to enter but stopped just to talk to Steve.
“The who?” Steve asked, only realizing a moment later who his neighbor was talking about. “Robin? Gross, no. She’s like the annoying little sister I never had. You know I used to wish for one of those as a kid? Someone thought they were funny sending Buckley my way.”
Malibu Barbie grinned at that one—a devilish thing that made Steve want to swoon right there in the hallway. “Trust me, I know all about annoying little sisters. Mine’s in Seattle right now with her mom.”
“Her mom?”
“Susan married my asshole dad years ago. We haven’t talked since their divorce but Max still thinks it’s funny to call me every week. Something about sibling bonding or some shit,” Malibu Barbie said with a shrug.
Steve laughed despite himself, suddenly able to picture his neighbor rolling his eyes at every call but still picking up anyway. “See Robin decided we’d just move in together after school. Dragged me all the way here.”
“So where’s Varsity Ken from?”
“Varsity Ken?”
Steve’s neighbor shrugged at that. “Blame Max. She thinks she’s funny.”
“You must think she’s funny too, if you’re using her jokes,” Steve returned, leaning against the open doorway of his apartment once it was clear he wasn’t going anywhere.
“Don’t let her hear that. I don’t need the shitbird getting a big head.”
“Well, I guess she should meet Robin. She’s called you Malibu Barbie for weeks,” Steve laughed.
“Barbie and Ken, huh?” his neighbor laughed. “Guess they’re trying to tell us something. Subtle little fuckers.”
It wasn’t too often Steve got this many laughs in, especially not recently. Hawkins hadn’t been a safe home in years, and though he loved his chaotic life in California he did ache for some of the normalcy that this time of year brought back in Indiana.
“Look, I’m having a lonely movie night tonight. I rented a bunch of cheesy Christmas romcoms and enough candy for twenty people. Come be lonely with me?”
“How do you know I celebrate Christmas, pretty boy?”
“Well do you?”
Malibu Barbie just smirked at that and tossed his laundry basket just inside his apartment before shutting the door. “Hanukkah, actually. But I do celebrate cheesy romcoms with a real-life Ken.”
“Is that a yes?”
“It’s a ‘you better have Reese’s cups’,” his neighbor said back.
“Who doesn’t get Reese’s cups? That’s against the spirit of romcom movie night,” Steve laughed, opening the door to his apartment for his neighbor.
Robin would not believe him when he told her what happened, if only because she was constantly reminding him that his flirtation skills had dropped considerably since stepping away from the ‘popular’ life back in high school. He’d have to thank her though, because if it weren’t for her silly nickname he’s sure his neighbor wouldn’t be getting settled on the couch in their apartment now.
“We starting with Love Actually, Ken?” Malibu Barbie called from the couch, lifting the case from the coffee table.
“Who do you think I am, man? Put it in,” Steve laughed, sitting down as close to his neighbor as he dared, setting a small bowl of candy between them. “And you don’t have to call me Ken all night. Steve works just fine.”
“I kinda like Barbie, but I guess you can call me Billy,” his neighbor said in return.
It was easy to relax with Billy. They watched movies all night, though did a lot of talking the entire time. Steve hardly noticed when the sun set and rose again to start a new day, too busy getting to know Billy Hargrove—the hot next door neighbor who he apparently had a lot in common with.
Maybe this holiday week wouldn’t be so bad without Robin. At the very least, he’s pretty sure he has the best story to tell when she gets back.
Please look forward to the amazing work from the next contributor, @raven-cl

TCON HEADCANON
All four Pevensie siblings have piercings, and they got their first piercings done together— lobe piercings on both ears. After that, they all went about getting their own.
Peter got a nostril piercing, and had several rings and studs. He also got a helix on his left ear, for which he had another collection of varied jewellery.
Susan went and got an industrial on her right ear, a vertical eyebrow piercing on the left, and she and Peter went for matching belly button piercings (which they redid when they turned adults in England).
Surprisingly, Edmund is the one that has the least number of piercings— just three. Two lobe piercings, and one tongue stud. He got a magic user to enchant that one so that it tasted of dark chocolate (Lucy is jealous. She got hers to taste like kul'aan touki, a narnian sweetmeat made of cashew nuts).
Lucy has the highest number aside from the lobe piercings— her left ear has seven and right has four, and two eyebrow piercings, a septum ring, and a tongue piercing.
.
kul'aan touki: my invention. soft and melts in your mouth, tastes sort of like kaju katli (an Indian sweetmeat)

Northanger Abbey Readthrough Ch 25
Catherine might have missed like 99% of Henry Tilney's flirting, but she has an inkling it has happened, maybe, "He had—she thought he had, once or twice before this fatal morning, shown something like affection for her."
Which is why I love this meme so much:
Again, Catherine touches upon Marianne Dashwood behaviour but she just can't really commit, "But now—in short, she made herself as miserable as possible for about half an hour, went down when the clock struck five, with a broken heart, and could scarcely give an intelligible answer to Eleanor’s inquiry if she was well." However, by the end of the evening and with Henry being kinder than ever, she has recovered. she had nothing to do but to forgive herself and be happier than ever; and the lenient hand of time did much for her by insensible gradations in the course of another day. She does indeed bounce back quickly!
Catherine reflects that in England at least, the type of villains described by Mrs. Radcliff must not exist. She doesn't go so far as to pardon France and Switzerland from containing such evil, but she's pretty sure about her own country. She also believes that while Henry and Eleanor may not be perfect (never!), she's certain that General Tilney has some "specks" in his character. Well you've come a long way girl, we won't ask for more just yet.
Murder was not tolerated, servants were not slaves, and neither poison nor sleeping potions to be procured, like rhubarb, from every druggist.
Quick, someone tell Shakespeare!
Now Catherine's thoughts return to Bath, but she has no news. Her faithful friend has proved unfaithful again: But Isabella had promised and promised again; and when she promised a thing, she was so scrupulous in performing it! Oh Catherine...
Not as bad as her brother though! Poor Thorpe is in town: I dread the sight of him; his honest heart would feel so much. Honest heart! That man doesn't have an honest cell in his entire body! I would have more hope for James if we knew he finally figured out John, but the only hint we have is this: the failure of a very recent endeavour to accomplish a reconciliation between Morland and Isabella. So James and John met again and John tried to get them back together, but whether James rejected both siblings or just one is unknown.
I really feel for Catherine here, she has to sit through breakfast trying not to cry, then cannot return to her room because it is being cleaned (bedrooms in this era were mostly for dressing and sleeping, so she wouldn't be expected to use her room again until 4pm*), tries the drawing room only to discover the Tilney siblings, but then they kindly leave her to herself. Catherine needs another half hour (her magical sad-feeling time) before she can face them.
This line from Catherine is so very Jane Bennet:
"Could you have believed there had been such inconstancy and fickleness, and everything that is bad in the world?”
What a stroke was this for poor Jane, who would willingly have gone through the world without believing that so much wickedness existed in the whole race of mankind as was here collected in one individual! -Pride & Prejudice, of Wickham
The poor girls, having their eyes opened to the wickedness of the world.
Then this part:
This post by Fira Wren playing in my head. His kids know the General is full of it. Eleanor is surprised her older brother has fallen in love, since it seems he never has been before, which again has Henry Crawford vibes.
No, not very. I do not believe Isabella has any fortune at all: but that will not signify in your family. Your father is so very liberal! He told me the other day that he only valued money as it allowed him to promote the happiness of his children.” The brother and sister looked at each other.
Now the reason that Isabella Thorpe would lose in a battle to the death against Lucy Steele and Lady Susan is that she didn't keep her first man secure until she had the next engagement entirely locked down. Rookie movie Izzy! I have too good an opinion of Miss Thorpe’s prudence to suppose that she would part with one gentleman before the other was secured. Isabella just could not manage two men at once.
I love this interaction:
This line from Catherine too, "I never was so deceived in anyone’s character in my life before.” and Henry's response: “Among all the great variety that you have known and studied.” has so much in common with this interaction in Pride & Prejudice:
“But perhaps,” observed Catherine, “though she has behaved so ill by our family, she may behave better by yours. Now she has really got the man she likes, she may be constant.” “Indeed I am afraid she will,” replied Henry; “I am afraid she will be very constant, unless a baronet should come in her way; that is Frederick’s only chance. I will get the Bath paper, and look over the arrivals.”
“I did not know before,” continued Bingley, immediately, “that you were a studier of character. It must be an amusing study.” “Yes; but intricate characters are the most amusing. They have at least that advantage.” “The country,” said Darcy, “can in general supply but few subjects for such a study. In a country neighbourhood you move in a very confined and unvarying society.” “But people themselves alter so much, that there is something new to be observed in them for ever.”
Henry also manages to tip us off about his intentions to marry Catherine right under Catherine's oblivious nose!
"Prepare for your sister-in-law, Eleanor, and such a sister-in-law as you must delight in! Open, candid, artless, guileless, with affections strong but simple, forming no pretensions, and knowing no disguise.”
“Such a sister-in-law, Henry, I should delight in,” said Eleanor with a smile.
Catherine also realizes that she feels much less sad about losing Isabella than she thought she would, which Henry tells her to think about. The falseness of Isabella's friendship is dawning on Catherine, perhaps now just unconsciously.
*Quote illuminating this point from Wives & Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell, spoke by a character who would have been young during the Regency era: 'No, no, Cromer: bedrooms are for sleeping in, and sitting-rooms are for sitting in. Keep everything to its right purpose, and don't try and delude me into nonsense.' Why, my mother would have given us a fine scolding if she had ever caught us in our bedrooms in the daytime. We kept our out-door things in a closet downstairs; and there was a very tidy place for washing our hands, which is as much as one wants in the daytime.

I WISH TO RAMBLE!! IM NOT GONNA INCLUDE IMAGES BECAUSE I DONT WANNA BUT HERE WE GO
HUGE TWF4 SPOILERS
I HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY!!!
Im not gonna lie, the start kinda had me like "This is what I waited ages for?" But then when the animatronic testing came around, thats when my interest truly started to pick up.
First of all, WHY WOULD YOU TGINK THAT FACIAL RECOGNITION FOR ANIMATRONICS IS A GOOD IDEA??? GENUINELY DID NO ONE HAVE THE COMMON SEMSE TO GO "HM, THIS MAY END NOT GOOD". Like I kind of understand the appeal for it because they may want the kids to feel,, more connected to the animatronics?? I dunno. But like?? I can understand for that time period the desire to have the animatronics interact with the audience (Not saying its a good idea but at least I can understand with this one why they may think it is in my head), but cmon..
Then from what I remember, the sprites came. And Good god did they creep me out slightly when I first saw them, especially Edd and Molly. I dunno, there was something extra creepy in my eyes seeing kids' faces messed up like that. Crazy. I also screamed when I finally saw "Bon" because Ive been keeping up with the Twitter TWF community somewhat, which means I already technically knew about "Bon". It was pretty cool to have him finally introduced in the actual story himself. Also Charles and Susan talking about Felix's addiction and if they should tell Rosemary and Jack(?) is crazy.
Aaaahhh but then the scene with Jack came around. Was rooting for him ngl. I honestly thought he died at the well scene but I dont see any correlation to that quite yet,, mayhaps. Felix almost jumping did make me feel a tiny bit bad for him bit like,, still. Fuck you Felix. I still hate him and 100% think hes getting what hes deserving. He feels guilty? Good. He should.
I cant remember if the Susan scene comes after this or not but I erm uh,,, That was VERY well done!! It gave me chills how you could still hear her breathe. Genuinely. The blood as well and Rocket closing their eyes?? Crazy. The jittery animation drove me insane, it was such an amazing detail that made things far more uncomfortable.
I cant remember where abouts the other Felix scene came but,, HE DOESNT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH ROCKET. I DUNNO,, DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN TAKE IT WITH YOU?? PUT IT IN YOUR HOME OR RESTAURANT?? WHY DID YOU THINK THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA. I SWEAR, MY GUY HAS NEGATIVE BRAINCELLS... But I also think we all know why he's so attached,, him getting haunted by the kids is wild.
The last scene very much makes me think "Bon" is Jack. I unno, very much could be wrong but just the way he talks and is dressed makes me think he is. The fact that he knows so well of what hes talking about and the voice,, maybe the general face shape too. Me thinks its either Brian(Ive saw that theory floating around) or Jack, but Im more leaning towards Jack. It also freaked me out slightly the way Susan came on all deformed too, that was freaky. The voices of all the characters in this new afterlife were very VERY cool too. And the whole mask being given and "Bon" talking about making her "beautiful" too? That was cool. The scene with Edd and Molly debating whether to save Susan too filled my heart with a weird sort of awe. They have a great relationship as siblings together imo, I do very much love their dynamic.
It'd be cool to see the other two episodes for the finale which I think are coming out very soon!! Which is very exciting!! I 100% reccomend TWF4, it's phenomenal and the wait was 200% worth it in my eyes. You can definitely see the developers heart and soul being put into this project, which is very nice to see. In my eyes, you dont see it often. I dunno if I missed out a scene or two from my rant but overall? I adored watching this (Ive already told some of my friends to watch it >:3).
Rant over anyways, buh bye for now :3
#The Walten Files 4#TWF 4#TWF4#TheWaltenFiles4#THIS WAS SO GOOD#IT WAS BETTER THAN I EXPECTED IT TO BE#My honest reaction to Felix feeling guilty but doesnt do anything to help himself at all at the same time#WHAT IS HIS ISSUEEEE#You can tell what I think of Felix LMAO#Hes actually my second favourite character though#Felix is v interesting#But Brian Stells will always have a special place in my heart#God bless the man with two to five minutes of screen time

...
The Pevensie siblings are children again.
Three hours ago, back in Spare Oom, the Pevensies found themselves sprawled on the floor in an undignified heap, in bodies as new as they were old and in minds as calm as they were tumultuous. Now, huddled together in the bedroom the Professor had long ago assigned to Edmund and Peter, they’re trying to figure out what to do next.
Mrs. Macready is listening at the door, ears tuned sharply in an attempt to glean any sort of information that will help her understand why the children aren’t being heavily reprimanded for breaking a window, but no one is talking.
Peter and Lucy sit huddled up against the headboard of his bed while Edmund and Susan sit apart on the other. A numb silence perforates the air as four minds, now changed and childlike, slowly process what just happened.
When Mrs. Macready gives up on eavesdropping and her receding footsteps fade deep into the house, Peter speaks, sounding unsure and a bit incredulous.
“We were kings.”
Edmund nods. “Ahtahm-lah morar, aeyar, volar.”
We were kings, queens, royalty.
“We are,” Lucy says firmly. Confident royal valiance sounds out of place in her youthful tone.
“Are we?” asks Susan. “Are we still royalty? Even here?”
“It doesn’t matter if we are,” Peter says, his voice soft and quiet. “If we act like it, who’s to say we aren’t?”
Silence washes over them again, and for a while, breathing is all they can manage to do. Lucy curls up to Peter even tighter, a habit she had never grown out of, even as a queen, and whispers, “I feel like I’m already forgetting it.”
Susan comes over and joins them on Peter’s bed, pulling them close and pressing a kiss to Lucy’s hair. “I know what you mean,” she says quietly, “It’s as if it was all a very vivid daydream. Like I imagined growing up.”
“It’s as if I’m recalling a memory,” Edmund says. “And I can touch it, hold it, see it. I can remember everything about it, but I can’t quite remember what it feels like to experience.”
“It feels like a story I daydreamed,” Peter says.
“I feel like a child,” says Lucy tearfully. “I am a child.”
Peter pokes her nose and smiles sadly. “At least you’re not going through puberty yet,” he jokes weakly.
This draws a little laugh out of Susan, but Lucy’s face crumples even more. “I don’t even remember what that means.”
Edmund blinks suddenly. “Me neither.”
“That’s funny,” Susan ponders curiously. “Lucy, do you know where babies come from?”
Peter pushes her arm, looking scandalized. “Susan,” he grits out. “She’s a baby.”
“I’m testing a theory, Peter, calm down. Lucy?”
Lucy shakes her head, “I don’t remember. Mum told me there was a stork involved, but I know that’s not right.”
“Well, that settles it,” Edmund throws up his hands in frustration. “We really are kids again. I can’t remember either.”
“Nothing?” Susan pushes. “Not even-”
“Susan,” Peter emphasizes, shooting her a sharp look.
Susan concedes with a roll of her eyes.
Lucy asks the most prominent question in a soft, halting tone. “Do you think we’ll ever go back?”
“Yes,” says Peter sharply. Then, almost pleadingly, “we have to.”
“Maybe we can,” adds Edmund hopefully. “Maybe the wardrobe still works.”
“I don’t think so,” Lucy says mournfully. “I don’t want to believe it, but I just... I have a feeling.”
Peter pulls her closer and she promptly dissolves into silent tears. It’s strange to see their baby sister cry so quietly. When Lucy was eight years old, before Narnia, before war, before victory, she would let her sadness out as loudly as she pleased. Maybe it was to keep up appearances, or perhaps she simply grew out of the habit, but Queen Lucy the Valiant didn’t make noise when she cried.
But Queen Lucy the Valiant is a thing of the past. Queen Lucy the Valiant, though the memory of her is still clear and crisp, has left Narnia. And outside Narnia she’s just little Lucy Pevensie, who no longer cries like the eight-year-old she is.
They sleep in the boys’ room that night, piled together on Peter’s bed and clinging to each other for comfort as they dream of their lost home.

Sims In Bloom: Generation 1 Pt. 11 (Buttercup's Lament)
Soon after the Nesbitts returned to Henford, Hazel started grade school and Heather returned to Sherman Bagley High. For weeks Heather was sad and depressed but wouldn’t talk about it, no matter how close she was to her parents and no matter how much they wanted to cheer her up. Eventually, Daisy figured out the reason after a visit to the Pancakes to check on Annette and Elizabeth, where Everett was flirting endlessly with Spencer Kim-Lewis, his new girlfriend.
Heather had long harboured a crush on her lifelong best friend, and his affection for their mutual close friend Spencer caught Heather off guard. She didn’t want to lose either of them as friends, but she hated seeing them kiss and flirt in the hallways at school. She tried to pretend it bothered her far less than it did, claiming she was happier single and focusing on her skills. She still entered video game tournaments regularly and even placed third in a few, but this hardly earned enough for vet classes. She resolved to get even better.
One night she babysat for her siblings while her parents joined Bob and Annette for a double date at the Spice Festival in the city, but loner Bob came home early, always overwhelmed by crowds. He was a little bit drunk, sniffing the flowers in the laneway behind Cobblebottom Street, and whatever came over Heather would require years of therapy for her to unpack. At least she recognized it – but flirting with Everett’s sauced father was a low point for her. She was grateful no one witnessed it, and more grateful still when Bob woke up hungover with no memory of what Heather had said to him. Even Heather wanted to forget. She’d never make Everett see what he was missing through his own father’s eyes, and her naivete filled her with self-loathing.
Soon after, she made a point to talk things through with Spencer. Spencer liked Everett, Everett liked Spencer, and Heather cared about them both. Resolving to get over him once and for all, Heather threw herself into video game tournaments – she even finished second in one for Incredible Sports and made 450 simoleons. Even though she was outgoing and made friends easily, she was single and loved it, too. When she wasn’t gaming, she was building plugins and practicing programming while teaching herself lab work on the vet station in the yard. The second vet station, to be exact, after River’s good friend Carlton Bell set the first one on fire in an experiment gone wrong.
The Nesbitts travelled to San Myshuno for a double celebration – attending Geekcon as a family and to celebrate Holly becoming a teenager. Holly was the only Nesbitt to get Daisy’s blonde hair, but she had Neal’s hazel eyes, just like brunette Heather. Holly was a generous soul, but she was spoiled. All the Nesbitt children were, but Neal and Daisy wouldn’t apologize. Their kids worked hard, and they had a blast together in the city. After the festival ended, they wandered uptown to Myshuno Meadows to check out the observatory and disaster memorial garden. Heather remembered to get a photo of the skyline for Dylan Kraus, a school friend who worked as a grocery deliverer for Abby Goldbloom and dreamed of a world beyond Henford after high school. Dylan was also the new mayor’s daughter, and Susan Richey-Kraus thought the best place for Dylan was the town where she served as mayor. Dylan strongly disagreed.
Would Heather be able to get past her feelings for Everett and focus on other interests? ->

So I had one person tell me to write it, even for my own enjoyment. Why not write it here? I took a dive into the Narnia hole, all while being unable to leave the hole known as Fullmetal Alchemist. My head decided to combine them creating an AU. Instead of in WW1 Germany, Edward and Hohenheim end up in pre-WW2 London. Lots happens, Ed ends up getting sent to the house of one professor Diggory Kirke, someone who'd previously talked to Hohenheim about the theories of parallel universes. Not two months go by, Diggory sits Edward down and tells him there's going to be a bunch of children living with them. Edward is Not Happy, but what can he do? He's now tasked with Making Friends and Being Nice. Apparently, Kirke doesn't realise how much of a difference the four years between Edward and Peter make, let alone the seven between Ed and Lucy. All of this not taking into account how Ed was shaped by his experiences.
Still, he can't help but find Lucy's story of the wardrobe endearing after she returns the first time. A bit sad, but adorable. When there was a storm one evening, he sat down with her and told her a story from his home. Susan rolled her eyes in the other bed, but to Lucy, the story of alchemists who could make thinsg seemingly out of nothing, spark flames and so much more! He didn't mention the darker side of alchemy. He was a telling a bedtime story, not discussing possibilities with proffessor Kirke. It was still raining the next morning, and Edward got roped into playing with the Pevensies. He's with them when they land in Narnia, yet he can't believe it. He's torn between the "Not again" energy and the "what if i'm somehow closer to home" energy.
People thinking Edward is a star, or at least the son of one, due to him not being referred to as a Son of Adam or even Daughter of Eve. He's the blood of Adam, but not his son. Edward rediscovering his alchemy after he is attacked by wolves and instinctively claps his hands.
He gets a dwarven equivalent of automail. The job was already halfway done, but the dwarves excell at working thier forge nonetheless.
Edward never returning to England with the Pevensies, not ageing, receding into legend and then resurfacing during the events of Prince Caspian. Same age as when the siblings first saw him. Just more… Tired. He just wants to talk to Aslan.
And talk he deos. What he hears does not, however, help him, for he learns that even through the Country of Aslan he will not go home. (There's no Gate through Aslan's land to Amestris)
(That's the part I feel like burning myself at stake for, because why shouldn't God be able to do something, catholic guilt am i right?)
Aslan tells Edward to live on. To find peace and a home in Narnia. Edward cannot. He has tried. He misses his family too much, Narnia is too similar yet too different from Amestris. It hurts even more than England did, somehow.
He receeds quietly to the court of King Caspian. When the young king decides to go searching for the barons aboard the Dwan Treader, Edward fights tooth and nail against coming along. But his knowledge on all things Narnian (and not only) proves too be too valuable.
One day, he finds his way home. Rumours circulate that he truly was a Star, or at least close enough for Ramandu to be able to help him home in a way known only to the Stars. Others say he found peace on one of the islands they passed. Yet others say he died. Only a select few know the truth, and those are the ones who promised Edward they wouldn't tell.
Edward is home. But to everyone else, he's a different person. For everyone else, it's been four years. For Edward? A thousand. And Edward has learned so much.
He's got Mustang's Edmund's cold calculations in politics, handling anything in a delicate, yet clear manner. He does not lie. He's as straightforward as he ever was, but he's able to dress it in pretty words now. He's got more of an edge to him.
He's learnt authority from Peter. He's dangerous when he has a sword, no longer relying only on a knife, a polearm or transmuted arm. His movements are clear, elegant even. Not brash and jagged like the Fullmetal Alchemist's had always been. Fullmetal used his weapons as weapons - brutal, yet effective. Edward has a captivating elegance to his movements, leading a spar like a dance.
He's learnt to use a bow of all things. His automail is unlike anything anyone had ever seen. Edward knows it's Dwarven work and wears it proudly. He even uses his charm sometimes, but he's not a fan of it. Susuan insisted he learn though, and who was he to disobey a High Queen? Yes, it's still the Fullmetal Alchemist. But it's not the one the people of Amestris know anymore. He does not tell them any of the tales of Cair Paravel, or the diplomatic diplomatic journeys to Calormen that later come in handy when they talk to the people of Xing. (He's also fairly proficient with the weapons of the country. And doesn't that raise a few eyebrows?) Even Lucy's kindness rubbed off on him. He treats everyone he meets as a person who deserves kindness until blatantly proven otherwise. The fact Dante was gone when he retuned helped.
The first time someone calls him a dwarf, he smiles as if that were a compliment. He does not look for fights, but that does not mean he won't finish them. That temper of his never quite left. When he finally sees Al again, he's struck by the age difference. But then he smiles and takes his brother as he is. It is, after all, not the first time he's ever encountered someone he knew for years returned to a younger age. This does not mean it's not hard for him; it's just a little easier than it would've been otherwise. He knows neither of them are going to leave now, they've got each other's backs forever. He grows barely a centimetre and is ecstatic. This means he's truly home, ageing alongside his friends again. He wants to see the ocean, to show Al the ocean. This bewilders everyone, because he'd never cared for it. He's taken to drawing (he'd had no artistic skills before). For a while, he's convinced the world is flat like a table.
#narnia#changes poeple#chronicles of narnia#fullmetal alchemist#I should not have thought about this as much as I did#yet here I am#hoping someone will someday find and enjoy this word vomit#this has been on my mind and in a draft for WEEKS#i've also been bothering my friend with this a lot...#especially considering they've never read/watched Narnia or had any contact with Fullmetal...#oh yeah and I forgot to mention#EDWARD CANNOT MUSIC TO SAVE HIS LIFE#which is a bit of a problem in a royal court of any age.

Peter Pevensie Story - Untitled Pt1
Okay.... another one... another story I've been writing for who knows how long but just don't feel like finishing. Its chapters and notes and rambles and brain dumps. Just stuff lol. Peter Pevensie was my first crush fr and I love this story. Its based on The Selection series and Narnia of course. It started as a story I would play in my head before falling asleep and one night the dialogue and plot was so vivid that I sat up in bed and started writing it on my phone. I actually loved writing this but I honestly didn't fully know where the story was going. There are some plot point in my head that may not even be written down but I didn't really have a full plot. I also started writing with it formatted like a script. Some of it is not correctly formatted and may not even say who is speaking (yikes!). But I am proud of what I did write and we shouldnt be so scared to share something unfinished. Maybe it can inspire someone else! Hope you enjoy.
*and if anyone can think of a good title let me know LOL
---
Fluff, mild angst, he falls first and harder, arranged?? sorta to lovers
--
Angelina sighed. “You will have to choose a gown to wear eventually. Mother is a talented seamstress but she cannot work magic. The ball is in three days.”
“I am trying but none of these gowns feels like the right one to wear to my first ball.” Her older sister laughed.
“ My dear sister, we are not nearly wealthy enough for you to wear ‘the right gown’. You must make due.”
“Maybe not the right gown but there must be something better than these. You couldn’t truly picture me wearing any of these. I’d look like… I was pretending to be you! And I know you have at least a few more…” she said letting her words hang in the air hopefully. Angelina sighed. “Would you please go and get them for me? After all, a girl only attends her first ball once”.
She could not help but smile at her younger sister's excitement. She loved attending balls and she loved her sister. Angelina was positively beaming every time she thought of sharing such a special night with her closest sibling and being able to bring her just a little more joy. She returned with three more gowns, the three she had deemed not suitable for this particular ball. It was currently very common in Narnia at the moment to wear darker colors and often velvet if one could afford it. Particularly this ball would be a sea of reds, purples, and greens because although the ball was being held for the High King to find a wife, it was truly Queen Susan’s ball. She was known for throwing the most spectacular parties in all of Narnia. While she knew how to host sophisticated parties for diplomats and visiting royals, she most loved celebrating lavishly with her subjects. A deep turquoise was said to be her color, which adorned her coronation cape so many years ago, along with the deep red that often kissed her lips. If she was putting on a ball, the people honored her with the colors in which she felt the most beautiful. While y/n admired her queen and all she had heard about her, she felt somewhat of an impostor in these royal hues. But she knew exactly which gown she would ask her mother to alter to her correct size as soon as her sister placed it down. She remembered watching her sister depart for the ball, wearing this gown. Y/n had believed it to be the most beautiful thing she had ever laid her eyes on and she realized not much had changed when she looked at it. She could not remember the specific stories she had been told about this particular party, just that her sister seemed to glow even more than usual when she had returned home from her night of dancing. The fabric was light and plenty. It flowed in waves of white, gold, and pink hues and she looked at it, almost afraid to touch it. While she knew her sister was right, that her mother could not perform any magic, she had the strangest and most delightful feeling that the dress itself might be able grant her a wish. She just knew this night would be special. After all, Narnia was full of magic.
~~~~~~
“Why have I not seen you before,” the mystery man asked as they danced.
“Would there have been a reason for you to lay eyes upon my face prior to this moment?” He laughed in response.
“I just mean– I have attended quite a number of balls here at Cair Paravel and I am usually somewhat familiar with everyone in attendance.” She furrowed her brows mischievously which made him smile.
“Well I do so apologize for ruining your sense of ease and comfort but I do assure you I am here on no account of ill will but simply to enjoy this splendid party.” He laughs again at her words, just barely.
“No, do not apologize for you have so far added much excitement to a night I expected to be like any other.” At that moment the music picked up and they focused on the intricate footwork of the quick and jovial dance until the music changed again. She expected him to end their dance and find another partner as the musicians slowed their pace, but his hold on her stayed firm and his feet never paused. He spoke again after a while.
“You did not answer my question.”
“Do remind me what it is that you inquire.” She smiled as she remembered quite well actually.
“Why is this the first ball at which I have seen you in attendance? Are you visiting from a neighboring kingdom? Hoping to win the King’s affections and he yours?” He asked this casually, almost playfully but he was very interested in her answer. Of all the women there whose intentions were precisely that, she had so far been the most successful. Unwittingly winning the attention and intrigue of the King. But he was still unsure.
“Well, if I am to be completely honest,” she didn’t know why she felt any need to be, “my family does not have much money. At least not enough for us to eat and have shelter and also attend a ball. I have many siblings but… it is my eldest sister that has the privilege of attending the balls. It is somewhat of an investment you see. My mother and father hope that she may win the hand of a wealthy suitor. It’s sort of ridiculous I know because she would just be whisked off with him, no thought of our family crossing his mind… I’m sorry, what was I…? Oh well, she’d always tell me stories of the lovely balls she attended and I dreamed of seeing if only one. And since this very ball seemed to be such a special occasion, my mother fixed up an old gown of my sisters and allowed me to attend. I know that it's dreadfully out of season but truthfully I’ve never felt more regal. I know it's funny to think myself regal, I’ve heard our queens to be more radiant than the sun but… I feel very lucky to be here and in such a beautiful frock.” She spun out of his arms at that moment as was part of the dance. While every other pair in the ballroom turned, he stayed put, staring at her in awe. She turned back to face him and continue their dance she realized he had been studying her. This made her self conscious and she moved to look away from his intense gaze but he placed a hand on the side of her face before she could.
“I think you look the very picture of a queen.” He spoke with such seriousness that she was stunned and unsure how to react. They stayed like that for some time until she noticed people staring.
“Shall we continue with our dance? People are beginning to stare. We must be blocking the dance floor.”
“Let them stare.” He continues taking in her features for a few more moments. “But if you insist, let us return to our dance.” She smiles softly at this, taking his hand again. The music, having changed again in their pause, is much slower. He pulls her in closer and moves them smoothly across the floor as a pair.
“Might I learn the name of whom such a beautiful visage belongs to?” Then it was her turn to laugh.
“Why, you flatter me so. I truly did not expect such attention from my first ball,” she said sincerely. There is a pause and he looks at her expectantly. She concedes.
“It is y/n.”
“It is beautiful. A name as such I would be bold to think, would sound so lovely falling from my lips forever.” She is taken aback, but only for a moment before she responds.
“And might I inquire as to the name of the gentleman before me?”
“Peter, I need to speak with you. It is urgent.” Peter stops, his look of adoration turning quickly to one of annoyance. While the fondness in his gaze made you slightly nervous, you decided you much preferred his tenderness to the frustration you currently saw, although it was not aimed at you. A beautiful woman clothed in deep blue had appeared behind him, causing him to pause your dance.
“Su, can’t you see I’m in the middle of something,” he asks, shortly.
“You know I hate to be torn away from a ball more than anyone but you’ll have plenty of time for this later. The present matter must be attended to immediately. I trust you will see to the affairs of your kingdom above the affections of a maiden.” He winces at her words but steadies himself. You look between the two of them and notice for the first time that the woman wears a delicate crown of gold, placed atop her dark brown hair. Peter… Su… Susan. Queen Susan. In an instant, it dawns on you and you are grateful you had not yet indulged in any of the refreshments as you feel your stomach churn. The woman, the Queen, must have noticed the look on your face and mistaken you feeling unwell for something else. She spoke and you had to concentrate very hard to hear what she said. The music was suddenly very loud.
“Do forgive me. I do seem to have forgotten my manners. I hope you are enjoying a pleasant evening and that you have not mistaken my frustrations with my brother as any reflection on my feelings toward you. But I do have to ask for a moment of his attention as it truly is urgent.” She gives him one final, stern look and walks away, trusting he will follow. Peter turns to you quickly but as his hand reaches up to graze your cheek, you feel as though he was moving in slow motion. He held you ever so lightly, as if afraid you might blow away and become lost in the wind. He speaks. almost urgently.
“I will return shortly. Wait here?” You do not know how to answer him but even if you did, you think you would presently be unable to call upon your own voice.
“Please?” You nod, sensing his urgency, knowing you must give him an answer. You notice how gently he once again speaks, now that you are his only audience. With a small smile and a quick nod of his head, he hastily exits the ballroom. For a moment, all you can do is stand there, as couples dance swiftly around you, until you realize you are unsure if you are able to uphold the promise you just made. The promise to the High King. You could not possibly break it and risk his offense at your disrespect. But you cannot possibly wait for his return for one more second. Your feet move you before you know where it is you're going. Searching for you sister, you paced the perimeter of the ballroom now very aware
So next she will be leaving and literally run into peter as he is returning and they lock eyes and he can tell she looks freaked tf out and then he notices Oreius standing outside the ballroom and looks at him as if to ask him to watch out for her because he is afraid she’ll leave. So he asks whats shes doing and she says she just needed some air and hes like would you mind if I escorted you to the gardens they are lovely at night so they go outside and are talking ab the kings and queens and hes like lol what ab that one thats likes u loll and shes like what and then yeah idk from there
they need to exchange names at some point lol (tn and orieus)
orieus: Good evening miss where are you off to?
She whipped around, slightly frightened at hearing a voice but comforted upon seeing its source.
yn: Oh I just needed to step out for a moment. Thought I might benefit from a bit of fresh air.
orieus: Well in that case might I escort you to the gardens. They are lovely at night.
yn: Oh I couldn’t remove you from your post, I shall be alright inside.
orieus: Nonsense I am entitled to a few moments of respite and I personally like to spend them in the gardens.
yn: You’re sure you wouldn’t mind too terribly having me interrupt your break?
orieus: I’d love the company.
Time skip they are walking around in the gardens
yn: You were right about the gardens. They’re exquisite. She grows excited at her next thought. And you get to visit them whenever you please? He laughs slightly at her amusement
orieus: Yes. It is a wonderful perk of my job
yn: And what might that job be?
orieus: I am the general of the royal army and presently I also serve as the head of palace security.
yn: That does sound to be a rather large responsibility on your shoulders.
orieus: Well I couldn’t have anyone else protecting the home of my kings and queens. I could not trust the ability of another when it came to their precious lives.
yn: It sounds like you care for them very much.
orieus: Indeed. I helped welcome them to Narnia when they first arrived. I watched them grow into brave warriors and just rulers. They have been more than kind to me. They are friends and I have given my service to them.
yn: They sound wonderful.
orieus: I should be glad you think so. And what of the High King himself?
She cannot see but Orieus is grinning.
yn: Well I have yet to form much of an opinion and I do inquire as to what has caused your curiosity in the matter.
orieus: He did wear quite the look of concern upon seeing your exit from the ballroom. And I know the High King well enough to understand that it was not the general concern of a good host. Were you introduced to him at the ball?
yn: Not exactly. Might I confide in you something that I am somewhat ashamed to admit?
orieus: Of course.
He looked down in worry and realized she was smiling.
yn: Well I was dancing with him and we were making conversation and for the duration of our time together I did not know him to be the High King. They both laughed jovially. This is my first visit to Cair Paravel and I have never seen a picture of his majesty. And to concern matters further he was not wearing his crown. It's as if he meant to trick me!
orieus: I can assure you King Peter’s intentions were not of something so malicious. They laughed still. He likes to enjoy these events as anyone might. Forget the duties of the High King. If only for a little while as you saw. The Queen Susan, she is not one to forget her duties.
yn: I gathered… I ought to be returning now I presume… The High King did request quite some time ago that I wait for him to return. Why do you think he would want me to wait? Perhaps I disrespected him or--
orieus: It seems as if he is quite taken with you.
yn: Oh… you don’t-- you don’t really think so do you? He looks at her knowingly and she is suddenly uncomfortable. Might we discuss something else for the remainder of our journey back to the palace? Tell me more about yourself. I’m sure you have great stories of your battles.
They talk and he brings her back to the ballroom. Upon reentering the room, she notices the High King atop his throne, his own gold crown now sat upon his head. He is different now, she can tell from across the room. No longer the charming young man she danced with who loves so quickly, but a man hardened by war and the weight of a kingdom. His handsome youth was replaced by a stoic beauty and maturity. She could not deny that he looked magnificent against the gold of his crown but she also knew that she grew intimidated within his regal presence. She tried to move from the doorway in which she stood to across the room from where the king’s gaze wandered but she knew it was of no use. She had insisted on wearing this gown, colored lightly of champagne instead of one of darker jewel tones as was in style. She knew he would find her the second his eyes landed on the billowing (light in color) fabrics between the velvety layers of crimson and violet. She looked for her sister hoping to engage in conversation as to appear occupied but as she looked back toward the singularly occupied throne, her eyes met with the High King’s. He shot up from his royal chair, his reason for sitting there quickly forgotten. She almost ran before realizing how unbecoming of a lady it would be and remembering who she would be running from. How ridiculous to run from a king at his own ball? So she stood still and he reached her side quickly. Before he could speak, she dropped into a low curtsey like her mother had always taught her when she and her siblings would imagine visiting the palace. She did not stand back up quickly, instead enjoying how this stance allowed her gaze to remain at the floor instead of the man before her. He sighed.
peter: You… you do not have to do that. She stayed there, perhaps even bowing a little lower. Please will you look at me? He reached out, placing his fingers under her chin, startling her. She quickly stood upright and took two steps back. She always believed she would attend a ball and dance the night away. It sounded so easy, so effortless. But now she was overthinking her every gesture, every word. She was here in front of the High King and while his erratic actions seemed careful and sincere, she could not help but be frightened. Her small Narnian village held no expectations for her but now she was in Cair Paravel with its most important resident and she hadn’t a clue as to how she should behave or what she should do.
yn: I’d like to apologize, your majesty, if I any of my actions have upset you--
peter: The only thing that upset me was when you left after I asked you to stay. He spoke in a gentle voice but she flinched at his words of authority. Although Orieus expressed his belief at the King’s feelings, she was worried still. All that she had been taught by her parents was taking over and she could only think of herself a subject to her King. Never could she imagine being the object of his affection. Not-- I mean, I was concerned that I had done something to upset you. And I was worried you didn’t want to continue our dance. I was having a lovely time with you this evening. She spoke before realizing
yn: Why did you not tell me you were king? He looked as if he might chuckle. She however, thought this was no laughing matter.
peter: Well it hadn’t crossed my mind really. I usually do not have to introduce myself, especially not in my own palace.
yn: You didn’t think it odd when I did not curtsey or fall at your feet? There was a bite in her tone and he noticed. She was horribly embarrassed and he was laughing that arrogant laugh. She felt as if she were talking to a different person. Damn that crown.
peter: No I found it refreshing. While people do not usually fall at my feet… he bit back, but he smiled nonetheless it has been a while since I was able to meet someone as just Peter. And I do hope you will continue to think of me as nothing more… and that we may continue our dance. He held out his hand for her to take. She reluctantly placed her hand atop his, and quickly her face was shining again. And for that Peter could not help but grin at the sight of her radiant smile as they began to dance once more.
yn: It is very hard to think of you as anything less than my king when you wear that crown.
peter: It is no different than any piece of jewelry you might adorn.
yn: My necklaces do not come with such responsibility. And... people do not usually stare whenever I wear them. She found the thought amusing.
peter: Considering your beauty it would seem as though people could not help but to stare always. She did not know how to respond. He truly knew how to leave her speechless. But if it shall make you feel any better… he stopped their dancing and unclasped their hands. The other he left on her waist she noticed as he removed his crown and looked quickly around him. Ed! He called out to someone and a tall young man wearing a matching silver crown turned to face the High King. Peter smirked at the younger king’s questioning look as he held out his own crown. Would you mind holding this for me Edmund? It is getting in the way of our dancing. She almost laughed in amazement. He restored their previous position, ready to continue guiding her across the floor, when Edmund spoke.
edmund: I’m glad to see you’ve resumed your dancing, I would’ve hated to hear Susan yell at you about your responsibilities again. She thought little of this, not connecting this ball with any sort of responsibility besides greeting his subjects and enjoying a night with them. Edmund laughed as he spoke then turned to the girl his brother held. I’m Edmund. I hope you haven’t found my older brother too insufferable. If so I do apologize, I’ve tried to tell him about being such a bossy git all the time. Peter rolled his eyes at his little brother. Not knowing quite why, she felt an intensely comforting presence in Edmund that reminded her of her own brother.
yn: No, only a little bossy but I think I will be able to manage for the remainder of the evening.
edmund: Well then I presume that for your own sake I should hope you are not invited back to the palace. But for my own I shall wish for your return so that we might team up against my brother some more. She gasped suddenly, one hand leaving Peter’s shoulder to cover her mouth in shock. She had remembered something. You’re supposed to be dancing with the eligible women here! That’s what this ball is being held for! You need to find eligible girls to court and here you are dancing with me. Oh I feel so stupid! How much of your time have I wasted? I do apologize-- as she babbled on she began to walk away. Peter grabbed her hand ever so softly and turned her back to him. Edmund has already turned back to the group he had been speaking with before.
peter: And are you not eligible?
yn: Well I-- I am the second born and my sister is here to meet you not I. But even if I was I am not fit for… this! She gestured almost wildly around the room. I’m sorry your majesty but I must go and allow you to spend some time with the other maidens. I do thank you for the dance, and for chasing me around the ballroom, as it has made my first party here most eventful. And I wish you the best of luck in finding your bride. She curtsied one last time and turned away, promptly leaving his side.
Omg so they get a letter from the palace (bc all of the girls in attendance do) saying whether or not they are invited to come stay at the palace to court the high king and the letter arrives and her sister is so excited and they open it and its for her not the sister. Shes thinking its got to be a mistake and she hasn't told anyone about them dancing so they all go (the families are allowed to live there for the time as well) and they realize its not a mistake and the sister just has to deal with it and shes so mad (she’ll find love eventually) and homegirl is like in a lowkey selection and we will have lots of cute moments :) and they will of course fall and love and end up together happily ever after the end
mother: Darling! Oh sweetheart. The girls’ mother entered into their shared room calling out for her eldest daughter. She seemed almost frantic. Angelina! Darling! You’ve received a letter from the palace.
sister: Mother are you sure? She was afraid to believe it lest it be ripped away from her when she was so close. But her mother retrieved from behind her back an ornately enclosed letter. The two girls looked at the small envelope in awe. It truly was of royalty. The paper shimmered and was lined with gold filigree. A deep red seal held the precious contents in safely and the front held only their family name written in large black letters. Oh mother do open it quickly! Read it out to us! I think myself much too nervous to hold such delicate paper in my quivering hands.
yn: I cannot believe MY sister getting invited to the palace by the High King himself. She had truly almost forgotten about her encounter with the monarch. It had been just another moment at the ball, one she would cherish along with every other. But she was truly thrilled to see her sister so appreciated by the royals. Her older sister was truly the most wonderful person in her eyes and she wished all of her wildest dreams come true.
sister: Well don’t forget you’ll be right there by my side in Cair Paravel. Oh mother can you just imagine?
mother: Yes, our family running amok in the palace! I can hardly wait. The two girls laughed, knowing how truly magical it would be to share the wonders of the palace with their loving and chaotic family. Now girls, do we still want me to read this?. She was growing impatient with anticipation and excitement. The girls immediately sat up a little straighter, suddenly very attentive, grasping each other's hands tightly. “(last name), We are honored to extend a cordial invitation to your family for an extended stay at the Palace at Cair Paravel. You are welcome to bring any members of your immediate family to the palace and any important items. Upon arrival you will be provided with everything you will need for the duration of your visit. As the guests of honor, Angelina and Y/n… will be attending a special dinner on the night of your arrival followed by a ball to which you are all invited. The proper attire for the event will be provided for all guests . In three days time a carriage will arrive to retrieve all those who will be traveling to the palace and a special wing will be prepared to house you. We are delighted to have you and are eagerly awaiting your presence. Signed: His Majesty the High King Peter the Magnificent, Emperor of the Lone Islands, Lord of Cair Paravel, Knight of the Most Noble Order of the Lion…” The three women were stunned by the unexpected name written in the letter. The girl whose name it was, was the most shocked of them all. She was confused and worried. She felt a similar sickness as she just remembered she had felt after the realization that she had been dancing with the High King.
sister: I saw you dance with the High King! I didn’t think however that you were trying to take this opportunity away from me!
yn: I did not know I was dancing with the High King!
sister: he did not introduce himself to you?
yn: Well he did eventually…
sister: And you continued to dance with him?
yn: Was I to decline his majesty?This calmed her sister down just barely as she truly thought of the implications of rejecting the High King. In truth, had she said no, King Peter would have respectfully stepped away, finding another dancing partner but his subjects were always worrying themselves with how their actions could in any way disrespect their magnificent King. And truthfully all we did was dance. It was no more exciting than any other dance I had that night. This was a lie that she herself was trying so hard to believe. I even explained to the High King that it was my sister who had come to meet him, not me.
sister: Oh so I have been invited to the palace out of pity! Or is it just to ensure that you do not decline his invitation. “As long as my dear sissy may accompany me as well it sounds splendid!” You are absolutely full of it!
y/n: Angelina I promise I meant no harm–
sister: Well either way you have caused it haven’t you. She stormed out of the room leaving her mother and younger sister standing shocked.
y/n: Mother I am telling the truth. She had tears in her eyes as she looked to her mother for help.
mother: Darling. I believe you. But that does not change things…
y/n: I will just explain to the king when we arrive that I do not wish to participate and–
mother: It is too late. His decision is made and now you must participate regardless of you or your sister's feelings.
y/n: But… mother
mother: Have we taught you nothing? Royalty is to be revered and obeyed. Lest what happened to your father and I happen to you. Do you understand? She could only silently nod at her mother, suddenly feeling guilty and remarkably sad. She had heard the stories often, from her parents and other Narnians, about the years gone by. A time she could not remember, before the current Kings and Queens took their seat on the throne. It was a dark and difficult time for the kingdom and left a sense of fear instilled in some, even during times of peace. Her parents had passed down their intense caution to each of their children in hopes to protect them should peace ever be disrupted. So being an obedient daughter, she went to begin packing her things.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~first night ball?? idk i love the ide of this happening while dancing but i feel like there’s too many parties especially balls… but i also feel like this needs to be the first night~~~~~~~~~~~
“y/n” she heard in a soft voice from behind her. she turned around to see Peter admiring her as quests danced around him. He wore a fine red shirt with
gold detailing that matched the brilliant crown atop his head. y/n unfortunately could not seem to take her eyes away from it. better than have to meet his eyes she thought. “i am very pleased to see you again.” he stepped toward her. she dipped quickly into a curtesy, though smaller than the ones she had performed previously in his presence.
“Hello… King Peter,” she said not knowing why she decided to test out the slightly less formal title.
“You look… lovely,” he said, “Would you care to dance.” She nodded and hesitantly connected hands with him. Peter was quite surprised by her appearance tonight. While he remembered the girl in the soft champagne gown, she stood before him now in a dark burgundy. Layers of fine silk fell down like spilled wine and he couldn’t help but think how elegant she looked, how powerful. He was amazed how in only two meetings she could look so differently beautiful. He wondered about all the other ways she had been beautiful before and the many way she’s would no doubt be beautiful again. he wondered if he would be lucky enough to see them. In truth she did feel beautiful in this gown. It was gifted by the palace as every maiden was instructed to wear red so as to be easily found throughout the ball by the high king. A smaller ballroom than the one currently holding the festivities had been filled with red dresses earlier that day. Her sister had chosen a bright crimson and others had chosen lighter reds or more orange tones. Red had never been a color y/n reached for but this shade had a cozy quality to it; it reminded her of christmas. so it had been the one she had chosen. weirdly she was happy that peter liked it. although she wouldn’t rather not know his feelings about it at all as she would rather not be dancing with him at the moment. he made her nervous and besides that the only other thing she could focus on was how angry her sister would be if she saw them.
“I hope your journey to Cair Paravel went smoothly,” he said, breaking her from her thoughts. She looked at him a moment.
“Oh… yes.”
“And I hope your accommodations are to your liking?”
“Yes.” She added a small, uncomfortable smile with that response.
“I do wish you would talk to me.”
“We are talking.” He sighed and stopped their dance. He did not however separate from her.
“Please… what is it?”
“I should not be here,” she pleaded.
“But you are. I implore you to at least try and enjoy it if you must.” She closed her eyes briefly and let her hands drop from his form. She could not help but notice how his hand stayed on her waist. Peter however was completely oblivious to his own behavior which bordered on inappropriate.
“It is presumptuous to think that I could enjoy myself doing anything other than sampling each and every thing tour chefs have prepared for tonight’s ball.” He chuckled lightly at this. It was half hearted but it was her, fear beginning to leave her.
“Yes how silly of me. I would offer to escort you but I must request we complete at least one full dance before I do that. Does that sound okay?” She reconnected their hands and smiled up at him, tiredly.
“I suppose that sounds alright,” she said causing him to grin widely as he stepped back into the large formation of dancing couples.
“Truthfully,” he began, “how has everything been? Is your family settled in?”
“Truthfully,” she repeated, “everything has been lovely. I’ve never seen a more beautiful place in all my life.”
“Well I am glad,” he said.
“I must say… I really am grateful to be here. Please do not mistake my personal matters as an indication of any less. Simply spending one day here could last me a lifetime,” she said. And she said it with such conviction that for a moment all Peter could do was stare at her in awe. He thought back to his first time in the palace and how he thought he could stay there forever and never take in every detail. He honestly still thought so sometimes. But here was this incredible woman who would be content for the rest of her life having only spent a day in this place he was lucky enough to call his home. He was glad she would get to spend more than one day here, for both their sakes.
“I—- I am very glad you like it here.”
“I have had trouble finding my way around.” They laughed.
“It is quite difficult isn’t it. I do remember it took me longer than I’d like to admit.”
“When did you first arrive here? At… the palace I mean?” He stopped to think for a moment.
“It has been almost ten years I think. I cannot believe it has been that long.”
“Wow.” She contemplated this.
“And what about you? Have you always live where you live now?”
“Yes!— Well no but—- My family has lived elsewhere, as did I. But I was very young, but a baby and I do not remember. Our current home is the only place I’ve ever known.”
“And do remind me where home is for you?”
“(town)… um how are you feeling about escorting me to retrieve some refreshments?” He paused slightly at her rather abrupt shift.
“I would be delighted to escort you.” he smiled, grabbing her hand to lead her over to the table.
