Pro tip: if you have to take Magnesium Citrate, get the lemon kind and mix it with apple juice! (Or anything actually)
You may throw up if you rawdog it, so be careful, mix it up, and go slow.

today i’m continuing with lots of prep.. yesterday i cleaned the bathroom, kitchen, vacuumed almost every room and the staircase, cleaned out my car, and prepped some meals.
today i’m making lists of shows/movies to watch n things to do, making lists of last minute questions to ask my surgeon, doing laundry, and organizing some of my materials for after surgery..
if anyone has any last minute advice or anything, i would greatly appreciate!

Yesterday was my birthday!
In the past I typically love celebrating my birthday! That normally involves either game nights with friends or a fun trip. Last year and now this year due to health issues those things have been difficult to do.. Last year I was fresh out of surgery and this year I'm just a few days away from a major surgery. Because I can't do much to celebrate I figured I would share my wishlist for surgery recovery items. Since I have fibromyalgia I need all the recovery help I can get! I'm so ready for the surgery but I also know that recovery is going to be rough!
The wishlist link is here
https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/21DWNBKK7SDHD?ref_=wl_share
And if you don't want to use Amazon, my PayPal and Venmo are both @SelinaMariaA and CashApp is $SelinaMAngotti
The reason for the surgery is that after having reoccurring blood clots we discovered that I have Venous Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (vTOS). So to allow my veins to work properly I'm having decompression surgery, which will be removing my first rib on the problem side and possibly removing muscle, and I will probably need vein repair too. It's been hard dealing with this, my arm and shoulder has been just getting worse and worse. I'm so thankful that my hematologist recognized it for what it is!

11 days to go
I'm so fucking nervous. Excited, but nervous. It doesn't help that I've never had surgery before, as I don't count my wisdom teeth extraction (that was twilight sedation).
I'm nervous that something might go wrong, that it'll be postponed, or the surgeon doesn't take enough for me to be happy with the results. So much shit out of my control.
But more than anything, a dream I didn't think was possible will be coming true. And that just makes me want to cry from happiness.

I'm trying to find yoga poses that'll make my surgery go better. I tried to search "pre hysterectomy yoga" and got pretty much nothing, so I refined my query to "pelvic strength yoga." Some helpful instructions came up.
I also still gotta get a medical card. Not only would I like lots of edibles, but I need to consider my actual nutritional needs. I should stock up on groceries that are easy to make but healthy and will last me a while.
I will try to get my TV properly mounted beforehand, too. I'd also like a DVD player and collection of shows like Bluey, etc. I might even get myself a record player and some nice vinyls to enjoy while I am stoned. It depends how much money I can set aside, though.

Surgery prep for kidney donors
The day before:
Follow whatever diet your doctor ordered for this day; a clear liquid diet is common. Remember to get a source of calories and electrolytes, like juice or sports drinks.
Make sure you have someone to drive you to and from the hospital, and someone to act as a caregiver for the first couple days after you're discharged.
If you get a cold, flu, or any other illness, let the medical team know! A surgery can be rescheduled, but if you were to get the transplant recipient sick (or make yourself more ill), that could get bad.
Consider going to bed early if your surgery is scheduled for early morning.
Suggested things to bring to the hospital:
Person to drive you to and from hospital
Smartphone and charger
Light reading material (stuff you don't need to concentrate on)
Pen and notepad
Folder for holding paperwork
Photo ID
Pajamas or a nice robe; the latter is nice for not having to bend over
Toothbrush, toothpaste, floss
Chapstick or moisturizer, if needed
A card listing any dietary restrictions or allergies you have
Any meds that you need to regularly take
Earplugs and/or sleeping mask
Fidget toys
Bag to hold your stuff
A full bladder - you may have to give a urine sample before the operation. Consider drinking extra water the night before.
Do NOT bring:
Anything expensive or hard to replace (e.g. a wedding ring)
Work material
Expect to spend most of your time either in the waiting room before surgery, or half-asleep in the hospital bed afterward. If you're anxious leading up to the surgery, ask the nurses if they can give you something to calm your nerves. After the surgery, you'll probably feel too tired to be nervous.
Think about what would help you feel comfortable and get your needs met. If words are hard for you, you might bring cards with useful sentences like "I'm in pain," or "I need water" on them. If you're autistic, objects for stimming or to block out bad sensations may be useful.
Expect a little bit of embarrassment. A nurse or tech may have to help you get dressed, go to the bathroom, or move you. You might vomit or wet your bedsheets at some point. You may be crankier than usual, or a little loopy while coming out of anesthesia. All of this is normal in a hospital, and the staff won't judge you for it.
Don't hesitate to use the "call" button if you need something! The staff would much rather you told them than for you to sit there feeling bad.

How do Peter's tattoos work? In a comic it talked about how if Logan got a tattoo it would only last a few hours, a day and a half tops, because of his healing factor it would fade really fast. So how long would your Peter's tattoos last? Does he just have to get them redone once and awhile?
The OG dosage of radioactive venom was via mixing it into ink and tattooing a spider onto his wrist, and his body accepts it without too much hassle. So if Peter wants his tattoos to stay, he's gotta make his own ink mix using a massive dose of his venom as a bonding agent.
Obviously the ink is crazy fucking toxic and cannot be handled by bare hands. Anything touching the ink has to also be disposed of.
The hardest part about getting tattoos for Peter is finding an artist who is alright with accepting weird under-the-counter ink and willing to use Peter's tattoo gun (when he had one) or be ok with throwing their gun away after finishing a session.
It also takes a few sessions, where the artist has to refresh the tattoo to get it to permanently stick. As you can imagine, getting tattoos are a luxury expense for Peter because the bill can run super high and the list of people willing to do the above + be good is a small ass pool.
Pictured here is the average tattoo artist for Peter:

'anything can be a trigger' is such a true statement but it doesn't change how silly you can feel @ yourself from some of them. yea the sound of just people talking in the other room, or a song having a part that sounds too close to people talking, can send me into a full panic when I'm in a bad headspace. yea yea I know

This might make me more comfortable after my hysterectomy. I definitely at least need a new mattress. My futon is broken in certain areas and it's causing me pain to sleep on it.
My birthday is coming up on the 22nd, but my Grandpa just seems annoyed I need to fix my sleeping arrangements. He won't discuss a budget with me and isn't interested in seeing what kind of deals on mattresses I've been trying to find.
I'm also stressed because my case worker called out sick on Friday. I don't know when he will be alright or if he has any ideas where someone living in poverty can get something comfortable to sleep on.
It really hurts my family doesn't care about my pain or what I need for my surgery to go well. Sometimes I hope I just die while I'm under anaesthesia.
I don't have a loving spouse to help me or lean on through my medical stress anyway. The least people could do is make sure I have somewhere that doesn't hurt to sleep, but whatever.
I'm used to no one caring.

I enjoyed many happy returns of "wrapping a towel around my waist after a shower" this past year and experienced Being Shirtless In Public for the first time!
