The Vampire Aesthetic

Ok so Danny knows two billionaires personally and they really couldn’t be more different. Yet they had one thing in common. A vampire aesthetic. Sam is fully into goth. Spiderwebs, bats, the color black. She enjoys fangs and fake blood and the darkness of her soul. Meanwhile, Vlad is Vlad. If his name wasn’t enough, the dark clothing, pale skin, and flying around with a cape and fangs with coffins in his mansion really sells it.

Danny doesn’t know many rich people so he thinks this might be some kind of trend. (If Paulina is rich, her family likes the chupacabra) So he just thinks that all rich people have some kind of vampire thing going on.

Cue Danny somehow ending in the Wayne household. Maybe he was brought over as a friend of one of the bats, maybe rescued from a field trip/vacation gone wrong, maybe some other situation. But he is there in civilian form with civilian Waynes and Danny just takes a good long look around the inside of the mansion.

“So where’s the vampire aesthetic?

Everyone freezes.

Danny just starts looking around, checking behind paintings and feeling the walls for secret levers. Used to secret passages with Vlad and possibly Sam. The Fentons definitely had them when they were temporarily rich.

“Come on, I know you guys are hiding it.”

Cue the entire batfamily thinking that this is another Tim and that he is fully aware that these people are the batfamily. Danny hangs around the mansion more and the bats just start dropping their disguises and not even bothering to hide stuff around Danny because they assume he already knows. (Possibly even trying to recruit him to be a new bat) Meanwhile, Danny, who does not know these people are batman and his birds, just does not pick up on any of it.

He grew up in a health violation with a giant ballon observatory lab above his head and a portal to the afterlife in his basement. He is a half dead teenager who has tea with the god of time and his godfather is the other parent to his clone child. He’s used to death lazers being scattered across his home and mysterious stains on clothing.

People are weird! He doesn’t judge!

ISAT ACT 4 SPOILERS

okay not to continually yap about isat (i'm gonna continually yap about isat) but I cannot get Odile and Siffrin out of my head.

like it's usually isasif (and ship-wise it will always be isasif) but MAN completing the sus quest has me thinking about the two of them constantly. I feel like their dynamic is one that's so under-utilized in media???? like yeah protective people are a thing. cold people (with a secret soft spot) are a thing. but oftentimes I feel like it's only children that they're protective of?? and don't get me wrong, Odile is definitely protective of Bonnie. but to have that worry and care extend to the whole party - including Siffrin?? peak.

she cares so deeply for all of them. she's hard on herself sometimes when she can't help them (there's multiple instances iirc of her saying I should have noticed or I'm not good for that kind of thing that implies that she wants to or feels helpless when she can't). she often relies on the more emotionally open people (Mira and Isa) to handle the emotionally charged moments - but she also pays so much attention and goes out of her way to tell Sif that she's there for him - because she knows that the overwhelming emotion isn't always what they need.

her methods of approaching Siffrin hurt in such good ways. she's always always checking up on him. it's not in big obvious ways. it's not always spoken. but she has one eye on them at all times later in the game because she can tell.

It's so special to me that she's the one who notices. like sure. Mira and Isa occasionally question if Sif is okay or mention that they're acting a little bit different. but they don't really do anything further than that. Odile herself says that if she finds something strange, she "gives it her full attention". she only noticed because of how closely she was watching. she only put it together because of how closely she was watching.

and you can never convince me for a second that it's just because she was suspicious that he had something to do with wish craft - because she never would have picked up on it if she wasn't already paying attention to them because his odd behavior worried her.

and to notice that he was acting odd, she had to know how they acted before. she had to have always been watching. she has been watching for a while because she's grown to love this group and all its members.

she notices because she cares. she notices because she loves them. she loves them she loves them she loves them she loves them.

Odile loves her family. she would do anything for them. she would do anything - "as long as I can be sure you were all safe." anyways. I love Odile.

everyone always talks about the first kiss. 

which, in caleb’s opinion, is fair enough. a first is a big deal after all. it can set records for future reference and experience – either for the better or for the worst. some look back to their firsts in regret, wishing how they could’ve done things differently or with someone else. others reminisce about their firsts with a loving smile and a chest full of contentment and joy, knowing that they wouldn’t have had it any other way. and when caleb thinks about his firsts, he thinks about you. because all of them were spent with you, and he wouldn’t change a thing. 

so yes, he would understand why everyone always talks about the first kiss. 

but to caleb, he finds himself thinking more about the second kiss he had with you.

most firsts come in a rush, in the heat of the moment, and without a thought in mind. it is full of emotions – confusion, uncertainty, worries, giddiness, excitement, urgency – that sometimes you have no time to process. it is gone as soon as it starts. you might even think you’ve only dreamt it if not for the lingering feelings inside of you that convinces you everything was real. 

but a second time is a privilege.

caleb was all nervous and impatient – but could you blame him? you looked so beautiful in the moonlight. you walked together hand in hand after an eventful date night. you were recounting your favorite moments, convincing caleb that you must come back to all the places you visited. and he was just nodding along and listening, but his mind was somewhere else. his eyes were playing a game of push and pull with your lips – he couldn’t seem to tear his gaze away from it.

forgive the man, but he couldn’t help it – you just looked so kissable. 

and yet, he couldn’t find the voice to ask. he instead opts to give you one of his puppy-eyed looks, accompanied by a rosy blush that reaches his ears. 

fortunately for him, you read him like an open book. you can share conversations with him in just a simple gaze. and it might not even be a stretch to say that you can read his mind, just as he can do with yours. you’ve known each other for so long after all.

so, with a laugh and a poke to his cheek, you told caleb, “you can do it, y’know.”

“do what?”

you smiled and paused from your walk. “you can kiss me, caleb.”

with a chuckle and a whisper of “how did you know?”, he cupped your face into his hands, his fingers tangled in your hair and kissed you in the middle of the sidewalk.

one would think just because you’ve already shared the first kiss together, the next will come easier. but this wasn’t the case, as there was a hint of shyness and hesitation in the way he planted his lips on yours. nonetheless, it sent your heart soaring. you let yourself smile into the kiss. 

and here, it sinks in caleb’s mind that the idea of kissing you in itself is already a remarkable honor. but to have the chance to do it again – whenever, wherever, and however he wanted – that was a privilege beyond his wildest dreams. and to top it all off, you want to kiss him as much as he does with you? oh, his heart aches tenderly so. 

the second kiss is an assurance, an unspoken promise. that he was all yours, that he has the right, the opportunity, the pleasure of pulling you to him to close every distance. to caleb, the second kiss is proof you wanted this too. you didn’t regret it and you wouldn’t have it any other way. 

you have him wrapped around your finger, hooked to the feeling of your lips on his. the thought never leaves his mind, possesses every fiber of his being and touches his very core. and when it consumes him, everything he does is with the purpose of being able to be close to you again. 

everyone always talks about the first kiss. 

but to caleb, he finds himself thinking more about how after every kiss with you, he was already looking forward to the next.

sometimes i hear people say “the cast of tua’s acting skills all went down in s4” no babe that’s called bad writing

99% of the time when a usually good actor suddenly does a not so great job on a specific project, it’s bad writing. its lines that feel unnatural and stiff and off and they do their best but it simply can’t work if the foundation (the writing) wasn’t built well.

we are already incredibly aware of s4’s bad writing in every other aspect. why are we blaming the cast who did a FANTASTIC job in seasons 1-3 for issues that can obviously be deducted as the writers, once again, simply not caring enough to try.

Anything that even remotely reminds him of cafes will make his head perk up and he’ll be like Cafe? Did you say cafe? Akito and I actually went to a cafe the other day. As like most days. Akito likes to find cafes that will cater to both of our tastes. Me and Akito go to cafes a lot. So he can try their pancakes. And so I can try their coffee. At the cafe. That we go to. Together. As partners. :-)

And if he is in the room, every time without fail we immediately cut to Akito, flustered and grumbling to the side of him like Do you really have to say all of that… rinse and repeat every time Toya finds another opportunity to bring up their cafe outings

Thinking about the CFAU and marveling at how much Danny and Jason care for one another. Does anybody else figure out that Danny is going to kill the Joker, or is that knowledge Jason exclusive? I can't see Danny being close enough to any other Batfam member to disclose his plans, but I wonder if he drops hints. They're a family of paranoid detectives. I'd be surprised if they don't figure out Danny has a PURPOSE for being in Gotham at some point. Whether Danny's able to disguise it as wanting to be closer to Jason or not is another burning question.

Its def Red Hood exclusive! You're right in that Danny isn't close enough to disclose his revenge plot to any of the batfam members -- hell, not even Sam and Tucker know his true motives for returning to Gotham, and they're his best friends right after Jason! And Red Hood knows only because Danny accidentally slipped up ;].

I do also think that the Waynes kinda think something might be up with Danny -- at least Dick and/or Bruce might since they're the only ones who actually know him beyond brief mentions of him. Tim knows about him due to his stalking, but doesn't really know him -- and Danny plans to keep a healthy, friendly distance from the family so he can carry out his plans.

It's not that he holds any dislike towards them -- quite the opposite. He appreciates what they do for Gotham and recognizes the hard work that goes into keeping their Rogues Gallery at bay (even if he is bitter about Joker, but there's an obvious reason for that) -- but, well. He knows they're the vigilantes, he doesn't want to risk them sniffing out his murder plot before he can even go through with it.

Luckily for him he can excuse any distance he puts between them as just being busy with life and trying to settle in, and they're not close enough to him anymore to find it suspicious. I do think they figure out he's back in Gotham for a reason, Danny's not going to exactly hide the fact that he's back to find some kind of closure -- but what that closure is?

I think the only person who might suspect something sinister going on would be Bruce, who saw the sinking rage in Danny's eyes at the funeral -- it was part of the reason he didn't tell him who killed Jason (beyond secret identity reasons). But that depends on whether or not Danny reveals some of his hand, and the fact that he was still holding onto that rage (somewhat unwillingly) all this time.
