I watched The Batman (2022) again and, like…

Damn. Bruce really is so freaking angry in that movie. How many times did he take a baddie down to the ground and then he KEPT hitting them! And Alfred was the one who taught him how to fight, so he actually doesn't have the same discipline as other Bruces do. When he fights, it's all power and no finesse. He's just throwing himself at the enemies, he barely has any form most of the time. It's why he takes so many hits.

Battinson is a feral animal. And it really is crazy how, when you take away the Batsuit, he's like a raw nerve. The Batsuit is mental AND physical armor, it gives him not just the ABILITY to walk into gunfire, but also the confidence. I don't think it was an act when Bruce walked in to talk to Carmine and he was standing in the middle of the room like he was afraid to get hit. Like he had no power at all. Even when he was in the hospital, and he was so ANGRY at Alfred, he kept his voice and his chin down and he didn't make eye contact.

I'm rambling. But I loved to see it. Batman as a protector, not just of Gotham, but of Bruce. A Batman who is unrefined and just so, SO angry. A Bruce who is still so totally broken from his childhood trauma. Almost as if not a day had passed. I love this depiction so much.

July 2023 - Good Omens season 2 drops. Fans watch on the presumption this season is based on the sequel idea Terry and NG spoke of in the 90’s and 2006. Reactions are mixed but mostly positive. We’re happy with fluff. Initial thoughts: “I don’t see how this story could have been fleshed out into an entire novel, but I guess it was only ever just initial ideas, so I suppose that works.”

July 2023 - THE KISS.

Fandom reaction: NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

August 2023 - NG responds to fandom

NG: “Season 2 isn’t actually based on the idea Terry and I spoke about.”

Fandom: “What?”

NG: “Season 2 is just a bridging story to get us to season 3. That will be the story that Terry and I discussed.”

Fandom: “What!?”

NG: “Season 3 hasn’t been greenlit by Prime yet so we might not get it.”

Fandom: “WHAT?!”

NG: “Also I wrote the kiss that way by giving the fandom what you want without actually giving you what you want. So like, stop asking me for things or I won’t write them.”

Fandom: “AAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!”

August to November 2023 - The fandom, now lost and depressed, mope through the halls of Tumblr and Reddit, desperately clinging to any piece of information dropped by NG, sharing fan art, creating headcanons and theories, and writing the angstiest of angst fanfiction ever written. Some weep in a corner mumbling about the South Downs. Most just trudge through their daily lives, listless and despondent.

December 2023 - Prime greenlights Good Omens Season 3.

Fandom: YES! OMG HOORAY! WAHOO! Dancing in the streets. Fanfiction turns to fluff and smut. NG is active and happy, answering many questions without actually answering them. Gives us the hilarious gift of Dottie and Sadie.

January 2024 - speculation of when season 3 filming will begin commences. Realisation that it could be quite a while starts to sink in. Actors and writers strike has caused delay to the scripts being written. David and Michael have taken on theatre work which will delay their filming schedules. Douglas McKinnon announces he’s stepping away as director. Fandom has slight freak out, but NG reassures everyone it’s nothing to worry about, and linked to the recent strikes.

Early to mid 2024 - “The invisible and unbreakable line that joins Crowley and Aziraphale”.

Fandom: AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! We inevitably become even more feral. Much fanart is made.

March 2024 - David hosts the BAFTAs and Michael helps him during the opening. David is then nominated for TV BAFTA for Good Omens.

Fandom: OMG YYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!! Much dancing and celebration is had once again. We are so in love.

May 2024 - filming schedule for GO season 3 is announced. It will commence January 2025. The fandom reacts.

Fandom: “That’s still so long away!” “Michael and David will have their hair dyed white and red for the awards season!” “Going by the previous production schedule this means season 3 won’t reach our screen until 2026! No!” “Cannot wait for this to start filming we are going to be so feral!” More fanfiction, more fanart.

June 2024 - David hosts Pub in the Park. Michael joins him.

Fandom: THEY ARE SO CUTE! HOW CAN THEY BE THIS CUTE, WE DON’T DESERVE THEM.

Early July 2024 - horrible allegations are laid against NG and the fandom comes to a terrible crashing halt. Much debate and discussion is had back and forth: “Believe the victims”. “Separate the art from the artist”. “Drop the fandom entirely”. “Step back for a moment”. There is a lot of arguing, but there is also still a lot of love. NG has fled all social media.

Late July 2024 - until it’s January, and the show actually starts filming, Good Omens season 3 has now become Schrödinger’s Series. It both now exists and doesn’t exist. Prime at any moment may pull the production due to the backlash against NG. The fandom now re-examines McKinnon’s departure speculating if he left for other reasons. We once again despondently trudge the halls of tumblr and Reddit feeling the same feeling of this time last year.

This section of the post was made in late July was this was original posted: And that pretty much brings us up to date. Anything could happen in the next six months, which is why I feel we’re all worried. It’s why I’m worried. So instead, keep sharing the art, keep writing the fanfiction, keep speculating with theories and headcanons. Let’s be here for each other. Because we created this fandom for each other. It doesn’t belong to NG anymore. Let’s do this for Terry. Personally, I can’t wait to come back to this timeline and add January 2025 - filming begins.

28 July 2024 - Michael Sheen, the absolute angel that he is posts a picture of his tartan socks clad feet alongside the caption “To our world”. Such a beautiful, beautiful man!

10 September 2024 - Amazon Prime announces production for season 3 is paused. Everyone loses their shit. There is much lamentations.

Unsubstantiated posts start circulating that the show is cancelled. People who have a friend whose cousin’s gardener’s former roommate claim they are involved with the production and therefore they KNOW the show is cancelled. More lamentations.

Amazon stays silent for EIGHT. FUCKING. WEEKS.

The fandom walk around in a god damn haze again akin to what August to December 2023 felt like. Will we be left with the final 15 forever?

Mid October 2024 - for about 3 days straight the fandom receives information that is akin to a rollercoaster of emotion. Head graphics designer Mickey tweets out a now deleted post that everyone is going back to Scotland. Then Peter Anderson Studio tweet out a now deleted post referencing the South Downs cottage. Then random casting company updates their subscription website advertising Good Omens: The Finale a TV movie. Entertainment website releases an article referencing this. The fandom LOSE. THEIR. SHIT. AGAIN. We honestly can’t take much more of this.

25 October 2024 - Amazon finally announces the news we’ve been half expecting half dreading with positive and negative ramifications. Neil Gaiman is gone. GOOD! Season 3 will still happen. GOOD! But now it’s just a 90 minutes finale. WAIT, WHAT, NO! But it could have been worse. It was a hairs breath away from being completely cancelled. GOD BLESS RHIANNA PRATCHETT AND ROB WILKINS.

It’s been a wild ride everyone. I’ve already posted earlier this morning (25 October 2024) my thoughts about the whole situation so go read that there. But for now? Gaiman is gone, and we get our ending.

For now here’s to seeing our boys with their red and white hair again.

Got another slight update about "Rings of Power" s3 from Fellowship of Fans, who have contacts at the show especially for filming news, and it is still scheduled to release in 2026. They included it in this article about all the fantasy movies and shows that are coming out that year which does include the new LOTR movie "The Hunt for Gollum" and Greta Gerwig's first "Chronicles of Narnia" movie for Netflix. There have been false rumors of when filming is supposed to start and that it was being delayed to release in 2027, but they've been confirmed false now. The show is supposed to film in the UK next year and come out in 2026 still. Amazon likely was waiting now till after the US election to officially announce the season 3 renewal and there likely is other reasons for why they delayed the announcement (as THR originally said it was supposed to be announced in late October) but everything is still going according to what they planned.

So are we gonna see rhaenyra take kings landing this season orrrrr are they gonna drag it out until next season and the finale is just gonna be back and forth of nothing for an hour? Daemon is still hallucinating (tho I did enjoy the bit with the lords of the Riverlands), he hasn't even left harrenhal let alone reconciled with rhaenyra. Aemond has no intentions of taking harrenhal yet. So how are they supposed to take kings landing in the finale. Unless they do push it until s3 and then I'm gonna be annoyed because the only major events that happened were B&C, aemond toasting aegon, rhaenys my beloved queen who never was dying and maybe the claiming of the riderless dragons. Not even Daemons acid trip on Luigis mansion is keeping me entertained. I don't mean to come off as one of those hate watchers but truly it feels like they've barely moved in 5 episodes. They don't necessarily need s1 time skipping to advance. But the pacing does seem a bit slower than last seasons and like not much has happened. Which bums me because we most likely won't get s3 until maybe late 2025 (since theres no strike that may postpone production) or early 2026, and worst case scenario we don't get a new season until summer of 2026. 8 episodes is definitely not enough. They easily could've had 2 or 3 episodes of moving the story along for the finale. But I guess we won't know until next Sunday. I hope I'm not disappointed with the finale.

She hasn't realized it yet, but Annisa's chronically bad at telling early platonic and romantic feelings apart. She typically assumes it's a feeling of friendship, and gets over the confusion pretty fast anyways, but add in how lonely she's been lately, and, well.........

Bambi (by special request <33)

Bambi's “early” stages of crushing have really changed alongside her! When she was a kid/younger teen, she went through all the motions she thought you were supposed to go through: writing "Mrs. Bambi [X]" over and over, giggling over "sucessful" games of MASH with her friends, changing her perfume to match her crush's favourite to make herself more appealing, and so on.

When she first started crushing on Chloe, she found her real reaction wasn't quiiiite so picture-perfect! While she still put in extra effort with her appearance, she didn’t want to change anything about herself. Instead, she focused on how she could be the one to make Chloe feel good about herself. She took the time to get to know her so her compliments would land better, laughed at her jokes, and embellished their conversations with shy little touches at the right moments. But the jealousy, oh the jealousy… she hated it, but the rare occasions Chloe would turn her attention to someone else felt like being stabbed. It drove her to want to make Chloe jealous in return, which she hated too (she would’ve questioned who she was in those moments, if she’d stopped to think).

Then, during season 4, there was the addition of frustration at the speed of things. The touchiness grew less innocent, and the jealousy persisted. I think that, even though it wasn’t a new crush in late 2025 when she was sick, or early 2026 when she recovered, there were fresh feelings of the wistful kind. It was almost all yearning and no action. She was still as touchy as Chloe would let her be, but she wasn’t so jealous, she didn’t try so hard to get her attention - she was just… sad.

Daniel

Daniel loves pretty similarly to how a (feral-to-tame) cat loves. At first, he's very flighty and fearful and might need someone to be a biiiit pushy to break down his walls. Then, he likes to be around those he loves, but in his own space most of the time. He's big on giving gifts, especially if it's food. He may not groom someone directly, but he's always carrying a lint roller. Despite enjoying the quiet and being rather quiet himself, he'll seek out ✨unnecessary✨ conversation with those he loves. And finally, in his limited relationship experience, once he trusts a partner deeply enough, he can be surprisingly cuddly! (He doesn't really get platonically-cuddly, but Chloe and Bambi could probably convince him) (only one person’s gotten close enough to know if his behaviour lines up any further!)

Lola

Lola's right about her type... when it comes to short-term relationships! She has trouble actually envisioning her future, and with it, what kind of partner would suit her best in the long-run. She’s got a big problem of wanting everything and everyone. She might think she wants a mean girl or someone to give her an outpouring of praise, but it bores her over time. She can’t handle being the one getting simped over or someone not growing softer with her if it’s her committed relationship, even if her crush-delirium doesn’t exactly let her see that. What does she actually need? Well, that’s what she’s trying to figure out.

Mads

Mads does really well when she can express her love as worship. So much so that she’s been able to get over a couple of her own deep-seated insecurities when a loved one has had the same or similar. It doesn’t always work, but it does help.

Manny

Manny will be at least partially saved from his irradiated zombification by the power of love!

Moss

Moss and their siblings never had a lot of friends growing up, and each had their own reasons why their moms were worried about those potential friends having the right intentions. So, when one of the MacLeod kids gets close enough to bring a friend home, and that friend gets both moms’ approval, they’re fully embraced as a part of the family, in whatever sense they may need it. An invitation to family camping trips, having someone to show up for parent-teacher conferences, or just having a saved seat at the table. Moss sees the Kirbys and Annisa as an indisputable part of their family (and hopefully soon Leaf will be too)!

Paige

Paige was pretty equally raised by her parents and both sets of grandparents. When she was little, and her teachers still got the kids to make crafts for Mother’s and Father’s Day, Paige always managed to get incredibly stressed out! When it was a card or cheap craft, she’d rush herself to make 3 copies (tears) and then they wouldn’t look as good as everyone else’s (more tears). If it was a more expensive or limited craft and her teachers only let her do one, she wouldn’t know who to pick to make it for (again, tears). Those crafts always got dedicated to all 3 adults, so they occasionally joke about how they’d never be able to move into separate homes - it’s true that they’d fight too much over who got to keep what!

Bonus: the main siblings!

Ajay

Ajay may try to be the cool, calm, and collected older brother Lola can look up to, but they’re more similar than he’d care to admit. He may not act on many of his impulsive desires, but even before Evelyn flirted with him for the first time, he was tempted to run away to St. John’s to be closer to her. If she’d seriously asked him to - even when they were barely casual - he’s not sure he would’ve been able to say no.

Esther

Though they’re now well-known for their love of bunnies, Esther’s first loves were flowers and photography. Before their schedule was packed to the brim with after school activities, they spent most of their time being watched by Paige’s nonna, who always encouraged the kids to get their hands dirty and help her garden grow. They developed a special interest in flowers in particular, and always bugged their parents for more gardening books or plants for their own yard. They near-obsessively documented their flowers in the early years, and once they hit their teen years, began taking more artistic shots as well. After Paige graduated high school, Esther gave up on photography. They didn’t have a ton of spare time for the hobby anymore. Besides, Esther was being pushed into the identities of “Daniel’s little sibling” and “Paige’s friend” by the show, and photography had become known as Paige’s “thing”. They didn’t need more of their identity being attributed to someone else.

Stuff related to anxiety and jury duty behind the cut. I hate adulting.

I had a bad experience with jury duty a few months ago that made me spiralingly anxious and occasionally quite self-hating a few weeks afterward. I wasn’t actually required to be on a jury that particular day but the judge made me postpone and pick a date within a certain time frame, instead of just dismissing me. I ended up picking Wednesday of this week, with a great deal of worry because I didn’t have all the information I needed to make that an educated choice. Now that I am coming closer to it, the anxiety is increasing again, and it’s making my brain, well… a pretty bad place to be actually?

My biggest fear right now is they’ll force me onto a trial that ends up being way too long, and I’ll miss my graduate school residency (which begins on July 12th and is absolutely 100% mandatory for my degree, cannot be missed.) Trials in this court are supposed to last about 3-5 days on average, so if things go like they say on paper, I’m in the clear, but when do things ever work like they say on paper? Missing my grad school residency means not doing my fourth and final semester and delaying my graduation until January 2026 at least, missing the trip I was going to plan in summer 2025 to celebrate my graduation, etc etc etc. It may even mean not getting a degree at all, because I go to art school, and there’s been enough administrative fuckery lately with my school that I’m worried it will—like many art schools recently—close abruptly and without warning. I have reached out to my school administration and asked if they want to write a letter on my behalf, and I’ve gotten some response, but I’m worried they won’t give me what I need in time and that a judge won’t believe me anyway when I bring up my education concerns.

My smaller fears are just… I guess… all tied to the disruption of routine that would come from being on a trial. And the worries of like, having someone’s situation in my hands to judge, and being surrounded by other people who are judging me. It’s pretty much guaranteed to make me overthink things, even if the trial is about a more minor crime. I do have slower processing speed, I do need to move around every half hour, I do need particular sensory accommodations, and all of these things would affect me, and yet!

I suspect 90% of this is my neurodivergence + generalized anxiety combo at work, and I suppose it is very real, but my dynamic disability imposter syndrome is really, really screaming at me. Like, oh, what do you mean you can get into one of the best writing programs in the country but you can’t handle a simple adult responsibility like jury duty? No one likes it, you’re not unique! Suck it up! Who cares if you have AuDHD? That’s what the awful part of my brain is saying to me. It is telling me that my disabilities are no excuse to feel this way, that other people’s disabilities are more “real” and that my life is a piece of cake my comparison. My brain also tells me that I’m a hypocrite, and that if I take civic duties as seriously as I say I do, I should be having fun and jumping for joy about this.

And then having made those comments, the mean part of my brain rolls in and starts in on its other greatest hits. If I can’t keep a room clean as a goddamn adult, then I don’t deserve to have a comfortable living space that’s the right temperature, so no use having anyone look at your likely broken air conditioner. I don’t deserve to write fanfiction because I haven’t worked on my original fiction at all and I don’t like the “correct” characters in my fandoms anyway, and I don’t deserve to write original fiction because I’m the worst at my IRL job. Actually, I probably don’t deserve a place to live at all! Or friends! Or anything else!

The mean part of my brain is, as it happens, a liar. It’s also a loud one.

Anyway. Thank god for yoga in a few hours. I think that may help with the intrusive thoughts for a short time but I would really, really, really appreciate it if this jury shit could be resolved in an expedient, friendly manner so I can just breathe out and focus on other stuff.

Yeah, some addendums and such, re: Jennifer Lee steps down, Jared Bush takes over as WDAS Chief Creative Officer...

So, she is still at the studio, which tells me that there wasn't any major rift here. That she's still going to direct the next two FROZEN movies and maybe help out on other projects, seems like it was a smooth step-down. I still think having trouble as CCO, STRANGE WORLD and WISH flopping, and filmmakers leaving played a part, but it's not just on her...

Which is why I'm curious about Bush taking the reins. Does anything change? ZOOTOPIA 2, which releases after MOANA 2, is already deep in production and he's writing-directing that. I think we truly get a taste of what Bush's WDAS is with that yet-to-be-revealed original 2026 movie. Lee at least confirmed that for us at D23 last month, before the presentation quickly shifted to FROZEN III, which hits theaters after that. So that one's two years away, and anything can change on its story/character stuff between now and when it enters full production. But when those changes come, they'll be under Bush. If this film, whatever it's called and whatever it's about, isn't nearly completely redone 5 months from release (at the behest of whomever, be it Bush or those focus groups), then we'll know. I think. At least in that regard... And Bush was present for both her and Lasseter's ways of doing things, maybe he watched and learned the don'ts from both leaders' respective tenures...

I think it also has to be emphasized what Lee tried to do in her brief 6-year run... After finishing FROZEN II, the first movie she would truly oversee was RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON. And right before she heads into that one... COVID-19 happens, and is a national emergency by the first third of RAYA's intended release year - the hell year that was 2020. Meanwhile, the larger Disney company is fired up about their newly-launched Disney+ and tasks WDAS to make "content" (shudder) for the service. So, I gotta give it to Lee there, she did jump head-first into that while working on the big-time movies. While the majority of the stuff was based on previously-released movies, it was still cool! BAYMAX! was fun, and because it wasn't a big budget feature, they got some nice rep into that one (though not w/o the usual fuckfaces making noise about it), and I liked the format of ZOOTOPIA+. And hey, she was willing to partner up with a Nigerian upstart whose founders said they wanted to take Disney on... Savvy move on her part! IWAJU was an okay show to me, but it was neat to see a WDAS collaboration like that. Maybe it opens the door to more. And of course, MOANA 2 began life as a MOANA series, and TIANA's still happening in some way or another. That they chose THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG, a movie that otherwise "disappointed" Disney bean counters back when it came out, to do a sequel series to all those years later... Again, gotta give it to Lee for that.

It's worth noting that WISH seems to be the only released film she greenlit, as development is traced back to 2018. Lasseter couldn't have okayed it that year, given the weird protracted way Disney Co. chose to slowly oust him. STRANGE WORLD, released fall 2022, was in development as far back as early 2017. That was after director Don Hall finished up his work as co-director on MOANA, working with his BIG HERO 6 partner Chris Williams underneath Ron & John. RAYA was conceived by Dean Wellins around 2015, who was supposed to direct it, until Lee removed him and replaced him with Hall and Carlos Lopez Estrada (taking the latter off of an original project of his own). ENCANTO was on the boards as far back as 2016, after Byron Howard and Bush finished up on ZOOTOPIA... So that leaves not only WISH, but MOANA 2/The Series greenlit in 2020, ZOOTOPIA 2, and FROZENs 3 & 4. In late 2019, Lee said that directors Suzi Yoonessi, Carlos Lopez Estrada, Marc Smith, and Josie Trinidad were at work on original movies... Estrada left WDAS after RAYA came out, Smith's on the FROZEN sequels, it is not known if Suzi and Josie's movies ever made it past the announcement stage. (Suzi's Insta bio still says "Director Disney Animation", so it still seems to be a go?) All those years ago, no less...

If Bush greenlights something by the end of the year, I wouldn't expect that film to show up until 2028 at the earliest. So for now, Bush is working with Lee greenlights. Just like Lee did with what Lasseter left her... And funnily enough, about half of Lasseter's run is stuff leftover from the final Eisner years when David Stainton was in charge: A DAY WITH WILBUR ROBINSON, AMERICAN DOG, RAPUNZEL UNBRAIDED, JOE JUMP... You can probably guess what those all became, haha.

So for now, it's gonna be a bit of a long ride. MOANA 2, more than anything, will hold us over, no matter how it turns out. Maybe Lee approached this one differently from WISH and STRANGE WORLD, maybe not. Maybe those two in a row flopping - *especially* WISH given how STRANGE WORLD was straight up abandoned - gave her a real jolt and she went about this movie differently. It's also very possible that Lee was looking to exit some time ago, as some rumblings suggest, and that maybe Lee and Bush lead together and shared duties throughout the year before an official announcement. Who knows!

I myself haven't been blown away by a WDAS movie in a while, and I think the last one I found to be really good was MOANA, ENCANTO did come pretty close in parts, RAYA had its strengths too. I'd love to really love a movie from this studio again, and hey, maybe the return of Moana and pals will be just that? We'll see!

It has been about a week since L’s birthday, nothing new, just the same old little investigation. Has it been tiring and just repetitive at this point? Most definitely. But some exciting news is that Matsuda has asked me out! Interesting man but sweet and kind nonetheless. He said he wanted to take me out but since he should be technically dead, he’ll be wearing casual clothing, with a hoodie and sunglasses. I did tell him that it would probably be best if we don’t go out but he insisted that He takes me out because that’s how a man needs to treat a woman. 

“ Mr. Matsuda we don’t have to go out, I’m okay with staying here and getting take out.” I state hoping he would change his mind.

“ No, If I'm asking you out, then it means I need to take you out and treat you! Besides, what type of man would I be if I just ordered take out.” 

“ You’re supposed to be dead matsuda.. I think you forgot that little part.”

“Not at all, i’ve got it all planned out, just trust me.”

He asked me to trust him, so I’m trusting him… I’m officially dressed and fixed myself as much as possible where I look casual enough to blend in with Matsuda, but dressed up enough for a “date”. I walked out of my floor and down towards where everyone sat just discussing with one another. 

As always no one gives me much attention so I just walk around to see what everyone is up to. 

“ Alright Miss Y/N/N I’m ready, sorry I kept you waiting!” Matsuda comes over with a small bouquet of flowers that holds my favorite flowers.. “ Oh thank you, such lovely flowers. And no worries, I just came down myself.”

With that L turns around and cocks his head to the side, “ Where are you going, where there’s a need for flowers?”

“ Matsuda asked me to join him for an outing.”

“ Is that so? Does this outing involve looking for clues on the Kira case?”

“No, it’s for personal gain.”

“ Then I cannot allow it, this case needs all the time we can offer.” L turns back to his little computer screen

“ I suppose we would listen to you if you had some form of control over us, but you don’t.”

“ You’re right, i don’t.”

Well that settles it, i look at Matsuda and tell him we can go, but he stops me in my tracks, “ Maybe he’s right Y/N/N, what if something crucial comes up.. Maybe we can just stay here, like Ryuzaki said, the case needs all the time we can give!”

“ Matsuda you were the one who suggested we go out.”

“ Yes I know.. But I said I would do everything to stop kira! Maybe the date can wait.”

“ I see, well then.. i’ll be heading back to my room then to change.”

“ You don’t have to change Miss Y/N/N.” Matsuda tries to stop me by grabbing my hand, but I’m quick to pull it away.

“ No, I must.”

“ Oh don't be mad, I promise I’ll take you out the moment we catch kira!”

I stop to look at Matsuda, hmm indecisive and too gullible. Committing to promises he wont keep

. “ Matsuda, have you ever committed to something and truly stuck to it? Those who are quick to change their minds and actions are ones who make quick promises. That being said, you did ask me to trust you before, asking someone to trust you could mean you’re someone who doesn’t know how to portray the concept of trust. You make promises, which resembles an idea of trust, but your promises are empty. So no, I will not be joining you anywhere even when the Kira case is solved, that is a promise that I can keep.”

I walk away with the flowers in hand, I finally make it to my room and change. Once I'm done I head back down stairs. I notice that no one is really around besides Chief yagami.

“ Miss Y/N/N do you not think you were a bit harsh on Matsuda?”

“ Not at all, in fact I think I was rather civil.” I grab the stack of papers and read through them to see what these papers were about. Same business men. 

“ The man means well, he simply wishes to solve this case. It's not that he’s not interested in you, or that he won't keep his promise, he’s very good at keeping them, he’s a loyal man.”

“ The issue isn’t if he’s loyal, It’s human decency to be loyal, would you not agree? He simply doesn’t think for himself. I do not wish to be with, let alone interact with someone who can’t speak for themselves and stand by their own words. He lacks direction in his words and lacks the will power to stand by his words. I simply was blinded by his kindness, forgetting that kindness only leads you so far.”

“ Well Sometimes people don’t think for themselves because they haven’t had an opportunity to do so.” 

“ I suppose Chief, but he changed his mind too fast, without a second thought. Once again he Lacks direction.”

“ Yes, but i think you’re forgetting the fact that you agreed to go out wi—”

“With all due respect, I’m no longer having this conversation with you.” I get up from my spot with the papers in hand and walk back towards my room. When I notice that L stands slouched in front of my door. 

“ Oh I didn’t realize you were not in your room Y/N/N.” L stands and rubs his right foot on his left foot. 

“ Yes I can see that, what is it that you need?”

“ Nothing at all, just checking to see if you’re alright.”

“ That’s a lie Ryuzaki. ”

“ I’m sorry?”

“ You’re lying, individuals who lie tend to change their normal body positions at times, out of the natural instinct of trying to act like they’re telling the truth. You were slouching a bit, when you made that comment of asking if ‘ I’m alright’ you straighten your back by roughly what looked like 3 degrees upright.”

“ wouldn’t you think that’s a bit of a stretch on detecting if someone is lying or telling the truth?”

“ The same could be said about your analytical reasoning when it comes to accusing Light as Kira. A bit of a stretch on the reasoning behind your explanation, but correct in the end.”

L looks at me with a voided stare, not much emotion behind them. 

“ L is there anything else I can help you with?”

“ No.. I suppose not.”

I nod my head and reach for my door handle trying to get past him and back into my room. Once I'm facing my door and I open it, I let myself in and look at L who stands in the hallway. What an odd behavior,  he said he had nothing for me.. Yet he has not moved. 

“ L would you like to come in? I’m not sure why you're still standing there..”

“ oh, i’m sorry.” he apologies while walking into my room. I take the paperwork to my bed and read every line, while L stands by the door looking around. Why is he acting like he’s never seen this room before? I soon realize that L doesn’t feel my gaze, so I put my papers down to just see what his next moves are.

I notice that he’s scratched his head, and stuffed his hands back into his pockets. His posture itself seems a bit more tense and more slouched. His body language reads anxiety, and confliction. The lower the shoulders fall, it can indicate self-caution or doubt. Any action such as findling with your fingers, the scratching of any body part means there’s a form of hesitation or worry. His gaze hasn’t moved anywhere, that means he’s over thinking. He’s too in his head to realize that he’s briefly detached from reality, another sign of being conflicted. 

“ Y/N why did you agree to go with Matsuda?”

“ why? Well, he asked.”

“ No you would never go just because someone asked.”

“ Is that so? Then I suppose it was because I was bored.”

“ Do you not have what you need here?”

“ No I don't.”

“ What is it that you need, I’m sure that Watari can make arrangements to your liking”

“ L, to be honest with you, I don't think you understand what I’m saying. My boredom that i'm speaking of is due to the lack of activities outside of the case.”

“ And Matsuda would help with that?”

I sigh and tilt my head to the side as if I'm saying “ are you serious.” type of look. For someone who can solve cases he continuously never fails to show how oblivious he is.

“ L, i would like to do anything with anyone.”

“ Then why not ask me then, I’m sure i would be able to provide more intellectual conversations.”

“ That’s the problem L, you wouldn’t talk about anything else besides the case. I’m tired of just solving crossword puzzles, blank puzzles, and just reading. I want to just do something normal.”

“ I suppose we could implement a small 1 hour break everyday for some regrouping. That would help with allowing us to see things we might be missing on the case.”

“ See L, that’s what I mean.. I- Nevermind L.”

“ Would you like to share your thoughts, i do find them rather important.”

“ Why should I share anything if my words are going in one ear and out the other.”

“ I didn’t realize that was the case, I thought you just said you were bored and wanted to do something outside the case? Is one hour not enough time?”

“ L it’s not about the time, It’s about talking to others or just having a conversation that isn't about the KIRA case! I just want to go get some coffee or sweets at a shop and just talk about, i don't know, like THE SKY! “

“ the sky? The sky is simply the color blue, due to the reflection of the light and the wave length from the sun, the gas particles in the sky are sca–”

“ L i know how the color prism and the wavelength of light works, You’re not getting the point! L I just want to sit down with you and just talk about random things!”

“ You already sit down with me when we’re working… But I guess we don’t talk about random things.. I can arrange that if you’d like?”

“ L I don’t want you to do it because I told you! Like Matsuda just asked me, he wanted to go out with me! He wanted to get to know me, outside of work!”

“ I see, so you’re requesting more of what Misa and Light have.”

“ L what, no?! I’m not saying i want a relationship.”

“ But why else would I get to know you outside of work, if not for relationship purposes?” 

“ MAYBE BECAUSE WE COULD BE FRIENDS?”

“ Oh.. my apologies miss Y/N, i was under the impression that we were already friends… so i assumed you wanted more is what you were saying.”

“ I-.We- you think of me as a friend?”

I’m completely in shock knowing that L just said that I was his friend. I would have never thought that he thought of us as friends. Let alone anything as simply a member of the task force team.  

“ You did celebrate my birthday and gifted me with a gift, so I imagined that’s what friends do? I’m sorry for the misunderstanding.. I’ll be sure to not assume next time.”

“ l no, I’d love being your friend, I just didn't think you thought of us as friends.”

“ Okay then, we are friends.”

“ yes.”

“ Very well, I will arrange gatherings in which we can talk about the sky.. Although I still find it rather odd that you’d wish to talk about the sky.”

“ L just get out..” I laugh feeling a small blush creep onto my face. “ Go arrange that gathering you speak of, I’ll be looking forward to it, friend.”

L just looks at me, but gives a small glimpse of a smile and bids me a goodbye. He walks, or should I say shuffles out of my room and closes the door behind him. An Odd man he is, falls short on small things yet he’s so confusing…

VeggieTales: Rack, Shack, & Benny Re-molded

Rack, Shack, & Benny Re-molded is a first episode of VeggieTales Reimagined, and the remake of Rack, Shack and Benny in honor of the episode's 29th anniversary. It was uploaded on the official YouTube channel of the same name on April 27, 2024. On September 15, 2024, It was also announced and set to air on TBN in 2025, on PBS in 2026, and on NBC in 2027, and also the remake with the new voice cast, to honor the tribute to the late Tito Jackson, founding member of The Jacksons (Later known as "The Jacksons", 1953 – 2024), and be made by Big Idea and Kingstone Studios, Produced by DreamWorks Animation, Distributed by Universal Pictures.

Plot

Opening Countertop

On the countertop, Bob is alone while greeting the kids, but when he notices that Larry is absent, Larry calls out that he's coming. From off-screen, Larry ends up crashing into some stuff, and when he finally arrives, it turns out that the reason for this is because he has an oversized oven mitt on his head, which he christens his "new hat". When Bob expresses concern that Larry cannot see anything from wearing the oven mitt, Larry retorts that according to "Veggie Beat" magazines, all the cool people wear oven mitts on their heads. Bob then remembers that they got a letter from Dexter Wilmington from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, who explains that when he's visiting his friend, Billy, Billy wants to watch a show that Dexter is not supposed to watch, but Billy tells him that if he doesn't watch it, it means he's not cool, so he wants to know what he should do. Larry then decides to consult Qwerty about this problem, but unfortunately, because of the oven mitt that completely obscures his vision, he winds up falling into the kitchen sink. Bob then tells Dexter that while he's trying to get Larry out of the sink, he should watch a story about three boys named Rack, Shack, and Benny who were faced with the exact same problem.

Act 1

We are introduced to the narrator of the story, an old onion named George, who serves as the gatekeeper to the Nezzer Chocolate Factory. George then explains that the real names of Rack, Shack, and Benny are Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, respectively. But everyone else called them by their nicknames since they couldn't remember the trio's real names. George then explains that every morning at the Chocolate Factory, everyone works hard to make sure that everything is going smoothly, before noticing that it's almost 8 o'clock, which means that it's time for the morning milk delivery. Laura then approaches the front gate and, in her speaking debut, explains to George in song that she'd love to stay and talk, but she doesn't have the time because everyone works really hard at the chocolate factory. After Laura arrives at the factory, she meets up with Mr. Lunt, who tells her through song that she's in trouble because she's two minutes late for work, before he also orders the other employees (which are played by a multitude of peas) to get back to work.

We are then introduced to the trio: Rack, Shack, and Benny (played, respectively, by Bob the Tomato, Junior Asparagus, and Larry the Cucumber), who also explain through song that they don't have any time to play because they have a lot of work to do in the factory. The employees of the factory are hard at work, making sure that all of the chocolate bunnies are made, as well as disposing of any bunnies that have been made wrong. Soon, the song ends as Laura takes off in her delivery truck to deliver the chocolate bunnies. As a lone chocolate bunny falls out of the back of the truck and lands in front of George, George then explains that every day, they make 14,638 chocolate bunnies (give or take a few), before explaining that Nebby K. Nezzer, the boss of the chocolate factory, isn't exactly a bad man, but he just gets confused real easily sometimes. George then demonstrates this by stating that it all happened when Mr. Nezzer made a big announcement.

Back inside the factory, the workers are still hard at work, when a video screen appears, before Mr. Nezzer appears on the screen, announcing that this morning, they have shipped their two millionth chocolate bunny and decides to reward everyone by allowing them to eat as many chocolate bunnies as they like for the next half hour. After this announcement is made, Mr. Lunt compliments Mr. Nezzer for allowing everyone to eat the bunnies, while Mr. Nezzer is confident that everyone will give their praise to him for this announcement. While the rest of the employees ravenously eat as many of the bunnies as they like, Shack is a little bit uncertain about this decision, telling Rack and Benny that they shouldn't eat any more bunnies, because it isn't good to eat too much candy in one sitting. When Rack and Benny argue about this, stating that everyone else is doing it, Shack retorts back that they should remember what their parents taught them, as well as remembering a song that his mother used to sing to him back when he was really little. After Shack sings a little bit of the song, he then tells Rack and Benny that even though their parents aren't with them, they can still remember everything that they've learned from this. This finally convinces Rack and Benny not to eat any more bunnies.

As time passes, the other employees are still eating chocolate bunnies, but after a while, they begin to feel rather sick from doing so. At the end of the half hour free-for-all, Mr. Nezzer and Mr. Lunt then head into the workroom before noticing that everyone has become sick as dogs as a result of eating too many chocolate bunnies. Mr. Nezzer is angered by this before Mr. Lunt notices that Rack, Shack, and Benny are the only ones who are still standing up. When Mr. Nezzer and Mr. Lunt approach the three boys, he is impressed by their resilience before telling them that he's going to promote them to Junior Executives (which, according to Mr. Lunt, means that you have to wear a tie when Benny asks what it means). After Mr. Nezzer tells Rack, Shack, and Benny to meet him in his office first thing in the morning, George then shows up, stating that Rack, Shack, and Benny are able to get on Mr. Nezzer's good side, before adding that the three boys are in for a big surprise when they come into Mr. Nezzer's office.

The next morning, Rack, Shack, and Benny are greeted by Mr. Nezzer, who then explains that he will have every one of his faithful employees bow down to a chocolate bunny statue, before showing them a model of the statue, to which he says that the real thing is 90 feet tall. Mr. Nezzer then explains further that it will be a beautiful day when everyone bows down to the statue and sings a song known as "The Bunny Song," which Benny says that he's not familiar with and asks Mr. Nezzer to hum a few bars. Mr. Nezzer then obliges as he starts singing "The Bunny Song," talking about how much he loves the bunny and not anything else. After the song ends, Rack, Shack, and Benny are a little bit troubled by the lyrics, with Rack asking what will happen if anyone doesn't sing the song. Mr. Nezzer answers that question by showing the three boys the furnace where the "bad bunnies" (bunnies that get messed up during the production cycle) are sent to be destroyed, before he says in a rather intimidating matter, "Let's just say in my mind, if you don't bow down and sing the song, you're a bad bunny." Mr. Nezzer then hops off before telling Rack, Shack, and Benny that the ceremony is starting. George then shows up and states that the boys were in a real pickle with this: "The Bunny Song" was full of all kinds of stuff that the three boys knew was wrong, but the punishment for refusing to sing it would result in Mr. Nezzer throwing them into the furnace! He then asks the viewers what they would do if they were them, but decides to hold that thought as the ceremony is about to begin.

That afternoon, when everyone is gathered outside, Mr. Nezzer then announces that it is now time to bow to the bunny and sing "The Bunny Song." While everyone else bows down, Rack, Shack, and Benny are the only ones who do not bow, before Mr. Nezzer and Mr. Lunt approach them, with Mr. Nezzer telling them to sing. In response, Shack instead sings Think Of Mealong with Rack and Benny. After the trio finishes singing, Mr. Nezzer is touched from hearing this song and says that he'll be singing that song... as he punishes them by throws them into the furnace, before calling out to the guards to take them to the fiery furnace. Three carrot guards then approach the trio, while Laura is concerned and states that she has to help them, before noticing Mr. Nezzer's delivery truck.

Silly Songs with Larry

Act 2

Mr. Nezzer has now tied up Rack, Shack, & Benny, before he explains that he tried being patient & kind with the three boys & that he's infuriated by their stubbornness. When Mr. Nezzer asks the three boys if they will sing the song, they then explain to him that God wants us to stand up for what they believe is right and that they cannot sing the song. At first, it seems that Mr. Nezzer understands, before saying that they're bad bunnies before they end up getting pushed down towards the fiery furnace, but Laura saves them in time in the delivery truck. Mr. Nezzer then has two carrot guards chase after the quartet into a vent, but one of the guards crash into the wall and falls into a vat of chocolate.

The chase continues through the vents, which leads to the other employee, falling into the elevator as well. Once the guards have been dispatched, Laura then pilots the truck through the vents once again, and when they see that there is light on the left of the vents, they turn left, believing it to be a way out. Unfortunately, that vent brings them back to where they started from. Mr. Nezzer then has Mr. Lunt take the controls to which a pair of mechanical hands take hold of the truck and starts to tilt it downwards in an attempt to dump Rack, Shack, & Benny into the fiery furnace down below. However, Laura is able to escape before unplugging the controls just as the truck is now halfway tilted.

Laura then angrily proclaims that no one bakes her buddies much to Mr. Nezzer's annoyance and threatens Laura, the latch bolt for the gate of the truck then comes loose, which causes Rack, Shack, & Benny to fall into the fiery furnace. Mr. Nezzer then laughs at his victory, stating that no one will ever stand up to him again. However, the room suddenly turns dark before a multitude of bright lights shoot out from the windows of the furnace. Mr. Lunt peers into one of the windows as he asks how many guys they threw into the furnace. Mr. Nezzer incredulously answers that there are three before Mr. Lunt states that there are four guys in there now, making note that one of them is real shiny, as well as the fact that they aren't burning up. Mr. Nezzer then calls out to the three boys to get out of there, before the fiery furnace gate then opens up, as Rack, Shack, and Benny come out alive & well.

When Mr. Nezzer sees that the three boys were saved by God's power, he then admits that he was wrong for trying to get them to do stuff that they weren't supposed to do, stating that he forgot everything his mother taught him. When he asks them to forgive him, they do. Mr. Nezzer then asks if there's any way that he can make it up to them. Shack then answers that he could sing one of their songs, before he starts singing the song Stand! before Rack and Benny also join in as well, singing about how God wants us to stand up for what we believe in when we're faced with the peer pressure of doing things that we're not supposed to do. Everyone in the factory then sings the song, before the story comes to an end, as George then smiles at the viewers.

Closing Countertop

Back on the countertop, Bob states that he still hasn't been able to get Larry out of the sink, before saying that it's time to talk about what they've learned. Larry then starts singing What Have We Learned, while Bob tells him to stop singing. Larry still sings, but Bob is able to cut him off by turning on the faucet for the sink and turning it off again. When Bob reviews the lesson that they learned from the story, Larry then admits that he made a mistake for putting an oven mitt on his head before lamenting that he'll never get out of the sink and that he'll be stuck in it for the rest of his life. Fortunately, Bob comes up with an idea by having Larry stand on one end of a spoon, while Bob jumps onto the other end. Bob then jumps onto the spoon, which causes Larry to get flung out of the sink, before checking to see what verse Qwerty has. Qwerty then brings up the verse, which is "Stand firm, and hold to the teachings passed on to you. 2nd Thessalonians 2:15". After that, Larry then explains that it means that if someone wants you to do something you know is wrong, you should stand firm and do what's right, before telling Dexter that the next time he goes to Billy's house, he should bring one of his favorite videos to watch instead. Bob then agrees with Larry before saying that he would like to get out of the sink, but Larry cuts him off before signing off, ending the episode.

Hello peeps, this is SLJuke here with the first edition of MARVEL WEEKLY. This will be coming to you every week and sometimes there might be delays but this will always happen and if any “BREAKING NEWS” happens, y’all will be hearing it that day so it depends so there might be only 1 thing per week or there might be 5 or more. Also THERE MIGHT BE SPOILER WARNINGS SO TURN AWAY IF YOU DON’T WANT TO SEE THEM. Anyways let’s start the news! Just last night, Kang actor Johnathan Majors got arrested and is charged with strangulation, assault, and harassment. If he did do that, then Marvel Studios is going to have to delay a bunch of projects and push projects forward and have to rewrite stories so they can find themselves a new actor to play Kang The Conqueror, let’s hope that he didn’t because he was one of the only good things about Ant-Man and The Wasp Quantamania (my opinion). On other news an insider named KC Walsh said that Secret Invasion which was supposed to come out in February and then got pushed back to May is getting pushed back to June and won’t move anymore. Samuel L. Jackson got spotted in a Scottish Town called Livingston filming a ‘Top-Secret’ Project and it’s rumored to be either the Marvels, which is coming out in November or Secret Invasion, my take is it's Secret Invasion. This next report comes from the Cosmic Circus and they’ve learned from their sources that Secret Invasion gives of spy thriller vibes that are reminiscent of Captain America The Winter Soldier and that there is a portion of the show that is appearing to take place in Russia at an abandoned power plant that is potentially Chernobyl but it isn’t confirmed whether or not Marvel Studios will tell us whether it is or not but it is confirmed that it is a hideout for Rebel Skrulls and that they’re using the underground levels of the plant to build a device that is shown in the D23 trailer and the theory for the device is to make Super Skrulls(I’m paraphrasing some of this stuff so go along with it lol). Ultron is supposed to return in Armor Wars and be played by James Spader again. Rumors say that Marvel may be turning to their old ways with darker tones in Captain America: New World Order and Thunderbolts. The tone for Daredevil Born Again is heard to go darker than what is shown in the MCU. Insider MyTimeToShineHello has been talking about multiple TV-MA and Rated R MCU projects. The scooper named thevscooper showed us some upcoming suits for Daredevil Born Again and the first one is an upgraded version of the Netflix one, the second one is a fully red one, and the last but not least one is a fully dark one and the DD Logo that Daredevil has in the comics might appear in some of the suits. In the last megadump of information from The Marvel Studios Spoilers Subreddit before it got taken down with a ton of leaks with Secret Wars getting split into two parts, Phase 7 is a phase that takes place in Battleworld, a Wakanda Series done in animation, a Mephisto Halloween Special Presentation shooting alongside Agatha Coven of Chaos, The Sentry who’s supposedly the main villain of Thunderbolts is getting a Special Presentation shooting alongside Thunderbolts and take the first two with a grain of salt but the rest have been corroborated by sources that have been very reliable and some I’ve already talked about. The other projects that were there are More I Am Groot Shorts in 2024, Man-Thing Halloween Special 2024, Silver Surfer Holiday Special 2024, Vision Quest Tv Show 2025, Young Avengers, Midnight Angels TV Series, Ghost Rider Halloween Special 2025, Nova Holiday Special 2025, Spider-Man 4 (Tom Holland’s version of the webslinger), Strange Academy TV Series Late 2025/Early 2026, Doctor Strange 3 2026, Ms. Marvel Season 2 2026(This show was amazing and I would wonder what would be in Season 2), Moon Knight Season 2 2026(I loved this show and I really hope we get this), Midnight Suns 2026, She-Hulk Season 2 2026 (I hope this is not a thing and if it is I will scream), Untitled Halloween Special (Don’t know what it is), World War Hulk 2026 (What we’ve been waiting for, bezerker Hulk to be back), Untitled Holiday Special 2026 (Don’t know what this is either), What If…? Season 3 2027(Idk if this would happen but there’s so many stories, maybe we might get an episode where it’s what if the MCU was comic accurate and didn’t underpower or overpower people), Eternals 2(Same thing as She-Hulk Season 2), Illuminati Show 2027, and finally 2nd part of Avengers Secret Wars (If it’s a thing, I think this would probably be bigger than Avatar and if not true, Avengers Secret Wars will still be bigger than Avatar). There was a few projects that got trademarks like Captain America Red, White, and Black, Celestials: End of Time, Nomad, The Black Knight: Origins, and Avengers Eternity Wars. These projects that got trademarked were also in the leaks for the trademarks for The Multiverse Saga, The Eternity Saga, The Timeless Saga, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Avengers: Secret Wars, Thunderbolts, and Captain America New World Order. Midnight Sons was trademarked on there and this stuff is amazing to hear with all of these projects. Chapter 3: Mama Widow

Summary: Plans are made, and emotions are suppressed. Nothing could go wrong later, right? 

Pairing: big sister!Yelena Belova x teen!fem!reader

Warehouse rooftop 10:34 pm 

Y/n panicked as she waited for Yelena, they were supposed to both be on the rooftop by 10 pm for the ambush but Yelena was late. “Hey, hey I’m here.” Y/n’s worry eased slightly “Where were you?! We were supposed to be up there over thirty minutes ago.” Yelena rolled her eyes at Y/n “Well not everyone has a pre-made supply bag for them alright! Now you go up there and try and stall while I take out as many people as possible.”

“Good luck with that.” 

Once Y/n made it up to the rooftop she was met with her main employer, Niko Constantin. <”You’re late Y/n.”> His tone never changed, or at least from what Y/n has heard from working for him. It was always stern like he was full of hatred 24/7. <”And you should try speaking English more instead of Russian. ‘A man with limited knowledge will limit his capabilities’ isn’t that Dreykov used to say?”> Niko grabbed ahold of Y/n’s face “Don’t you speak his name around me. He is a deadman.” He examined her face slightly “And why are you so mouthy? It’s very unbecoming of you.” Y/n moved his hand now gripping onto his wrist “Maybe I’m just changing Niko.” At that moment Yelena hollered to Y/n as the helicopter started “Get in!” Y/n stunned Niko with the widow bites making her escape. Niko winced in pain “You won’t get away with this Y/n! You may have defected but you will come back. You’re still a killer!”

“Buckle yourself up okay?” 

“Yelena, you’re not my mother.” Y/n’s small comment was met with a quick glare from Yelena “So if we have turbulence you want to fall out of the helicopter eh?” Y/n rolled her eyes complying only so she wouldn’t hear more commentary from her. From then on the ride was silent for a while until Yelena finally asked “So, that employer of yours, what’s his problem? He was very, aggressive.” 

“He was part of a separate program in the past. Apparently, it was called ‘Wolf spider ops’ they were trying to make male widows which long story short was not successful because the men weren’t as compliant. With them all being deemed failures they were killed, but Niko got away in time to make a name for himself. Which is how he became a shareholder in the Red Room.” 

“What’s supposed to be his plan than with Dreykov dead?”

“Like any man world domination, to prove other people wrong, and to hold power over women.” 

“Well, you won’t have to worry about him for that long. We should be getting to our stop in a few hours, you should rest.” 

“I don’t need rest Yelena, what I need is to be in control of who I am. And I can’t do that with a mind-controlling chip in my head. Speaking of where in Russia is this ‘friend’ of yours? Also more importantly who is she?” Yelena tensed at the question, Melina had signed off on Y/n’s file which meant Y/n probably won’t react well to seeing her. Y/n pressured her “Yelena, who is she? Why aren’t you answering me!” 

“Melina Vostokoff. Her name is Melina Vostokoff. And she is more my mother rather than my friend.” Y/n did her best to hold in her anger, but it was hard. Melina had been the one to watch over the experiments she went under. She watched her in pain, she watched her suffer, it’s hard to forgive a thing like that. 

St. Petersburg Russia 8:23 am 

“Yelena?”

“What’s up?” 

“Did she help you? With the Red Room. Did she help you take it down?” The fear in her voice is what made Yelena want to hold her close, but she put a reassuring hand on her shoulder instead. “Yeah, she did. Without her, I wouldn’t be this far into freeing widows.” Y/n took a deep breath “Okay.” On the way to  Melina’s home, Yelena held Y/n’s hand doing her best to comfort her. Yelena knocked on the door and Melina opened it, as she did though all the memories flooded back for Y/n. 

“Hi, Mama.” 

“Hi, sweetheart.” Yelena had let go of Y/n’s hand and pulled Melina into a brief hug. As Yelena pulled away from the hug Melina finally acknowledged Y/n. “And who are you?” Before Y/n could say anything that could cause a problem Yelena intervened, “That’s actually why we’re here, we need your help. You worked on the white widow program yes?” 

“Regrettably yes, why?” 

“We need help removing Y/n’s chip.” 

“Why would you need to do that, the only person who had access to his framework was Dreykov and he’s gone.” 

Y/n finally chimed in “Remember Niko Constantin? He’s gaining more control of the different widows, and when I was under his control he had me go on a mission to get his access to the framework.” 

“Okay, come in. The more we talk the more time he’ll have to get access to you.”  

As Melina went to get the right supplies for the operation Yelena pulled Y/n to the side “Hey, I know you’re scared but-” Y/n interrupted her “I’m not scared.” Yelena ignored the interruption and continued “Just know I’ll be here the whole time alright? I’m not going to let her hurt you.” The reassuring words comforted Y/n “Promise?” 

“Promise.” 

After some time Melina came to the duo who had made themselves comfortable on the couch “Okay, everything is set up. There is one thing though.” She was holding a syringe, one with a long needle “We need to sedate her.” 

Yelena stood up immediately “No, we're not doing that! There- there has to be a better option.” 

“Yelena, it’s okay.” She looked over at Melina “Let’s get this over with already.” As Y/n was sedated she was reminded of how she was sedated for other reasons. Like the first time she tried to escape the Red Room, she was filled with so much anger and hatred but somehow this time was different. Yelena being there with her was some of the best reassurance she received, it was actually the only comfort she received. 

After Y/n was fully sedated she pulled Melina to the side “Uh- do you need help with this?” 

“Yelena, if you want to stay and watch to make sure she’s safe you can.” 

“How’d you know?” 

“The way you look at her, it’s the same way Natasha looked at you when you were kids. You know better than to think I wouldn’t notice.” Yelena smiled “Thank you, Mama.”

7:02 pm 

The operation took a few hours, but once Y/n was put to bed so she could rest Yelena sat in a nearby rocking chair in case she woke up. After around 2 hours though Melina opened the door to the room talking to Yelena “Dinner is done if you want some Lena.” Admittedly she was hungry and couldn’t pass up on home cooking. Once she settled down at the dinner table with her mother eating the mac n’ cheese she made Melani started to try and make conversation. “So, you and that girl” Yelena swallowed her food “Her name is Y/n.” Melina nodded “Yes, Y/n. What’s your plan once you leave here?” Yelena looked up at her questioningly then answered sarcastically  “What implied we were leaving?” Melina laughed at the comment, missing the company. “In all seriousness Mama, we had planned to take down this framework so no one can access it but what we know is limited, or at least what Y/n has told me.” She took a swig of the alcohol that had been left out on the table “I was just wondering if you knew anything.” 

“I was wondering the same thing, Melina.” Y/n peered through the doorway still obviously still in pain from earlier. Melina ignored how Y/n made her comment inviting her to sit next to Yelena “Oh, Y/n sit, please eat.” As Melina served Y/n what was left from the dinner she continued the earlier question “What I mainly know about the framework is that whoever has access to it has access to its program. So as long as you get access to the main controls you should be able to shut down the program altogether.”  

“Well, Niko and my other employers should be all at their headquarters within about a week. They’re meeting so can discuss how they’re going to use the framework in their own favor. I’m actually supposed to be there as an example of how the program works.” 

“Well have you been there before? Are there any weak points of the building?” 

Melina and Y/n both replied at the same time in a similarly questionable tone “Well…” Y/n continued “There are foundational pillars in the building, problem is, it’s where they will be keeping the framework program.” Y/n reached for the alcohol bottle that was still on the table after Yelena drank from it. Although after slowly lifting it up she received a quick slap to the hand from Yelena “No, you’re not drinking. Anyways, that shouldn’t really be a problem, right? I mean, as long as we are able to ambush them we could get access to the framework then leave some bombs down there and get out, easy peasy.”

Melina shot her daughter a questioning look “Sure but what exactly are you going to use to blow this place up? And more importantly, how do you plan to get in?” Yelena smiled slightly wrapping an arm over Y/n “Simple, Niko already believes Y/n is going to come back, so we just give him what he wants. And while she goes back to him I’ll be captured by her. And when it comes to explosives I’m sure you have enough to share Mama.” 

With the other two not being able to argue with that Yelena brushed herself off getting up from her chair “Well I think I’ve had enough of this talking with the two of you I’m going to take a nap” she yawned loudly “You two should talk though. Get to know each other more.” As Yelena walked away Y/n gave Melina a long glare “I’m assuming by the way you’re looking at me you have some questions for me.” Not wasting any time Y/n got straight to the point trying to hold her composure “Do you feel remorse?” 

“Remorse for what?” 

“Everything Melina. You watched me and so many young widows go through so much pain. And when I looked at you– you showed no fear, no sadness, no anger towards what we were going through. And lord knows what else you put Yelena and Natasha through as kids.” That last sentence is what hurt Melina the most it was never her intent to hurt the two, she was just following orders “I do Y/n, every day I do. But you have to understand the Red Room was all I had. I had nothing else to my name. I had nowhere else to go. When you are older I hope you understand that.” Y/n fiddled with her fingers trying to conceal the mixed emotions she was feeling. Eventually, she got up leaving the now awkward silence “Thank you for the food, Melina.”

“You should get some rest too Y/n, you look tired.” Y/n had gotten that comment all that time, and she hated it. She didn’t need sleep, what she needed was peace of mind, that the Red Room, Dreykov, or Niko and his “friends” won’t come back or at least that she won’t have to see them again. Or at least that’s what she thought. “I’m fine, I just need some fresh air.” Leaving the house and sitting out on the porch Y/n pressed her hands against her face trying to calm herself. Normalcy, what a dream.

Alex: Oh, Milan is great but also very loud and cramped. But you’ll manage.

Matteo: We just want to check Milan out at least once, if it annoys us then we’ll leave again.

David: It would be really unlikely if none of us would get married, wouldn’t it?

Jonas: I’ll put it this way: Statistically speaking, young relationships won’t last forever. What definitely doesn’t mean that I think that Hanna and I or one of you guys will break up…

David: Yes, we’ll just decide spontaneously when it comes to Milan. I want to at least see the cathedral in Milan at least once. Unfortunately, the chances of seeing the Last Supper are really alarmingly slim. It’s supposed to be almost impossible to spontaneously get tickets for the museum…

Carlos: Man, Jonas is totally ruining the mood! We’ll all get married, Brudi! Show some optimism.

Matteo: Jonas, the eternal realist.

Jonas: Sorry, but statistically speaking, only 15 % of all young relationships last, out of the 4 of us that wouldn’t even be one. And statistically speaking, you have 3-4 relationships in your life. You can count for yourselves.

Alex: I never thought that I’d say this, but: Shut up, Jonas.

Carlos: Ha!

Matteo: Never believe any statistics that you didn’t falsify yourself!

Abdi: Besides it’s about love, Brudi, not figures!

Carlos: Exactly! And if in 2026 we’re all married, then BAM! Then we’ll all hold a big middle finger out to statistics!

Jonas: I’m not saying that it will be the case but that this is what the statistics are saying.

Alex: Hey, but sorry, Jonas! Screw the statistics! I really am a realist and, I think quite a down-to-earth person, but if I’m supposed to look at statistics with every relationship or friendship, then why should I even start them?! “Oh, damn, you would be my first relationship! Statistically speaking you won’t stay together with your first relationship, anyways, so why should we even try?!” or “Hmm… I already had 5 relationships but we’re still under 18 - according to statistics we won’t stay together, anyways, so why bother now!?” Fact is that you hope and want every relationship to last - otherwise you wouldn’t even start them. And I think that it’s rather counterproductive in that case to have some statistics in the back of your mind.

Carlos: Wow…

Alex: By the way, long-distance-relationship won’t last, either, according to statistics - I’ll just quickly go and break up with Mia!

Abdi: Woah, Alex… I didn’t even know that you could go off like that…

Carlos: Why isn’t David texting anymore? David, it’s your cue for love, come on!

Matteo: David just fell off the chair from excitement. No kidding, he applauded so hard that he just fell over. :-) *sends a photo of David sitting on the ground laughing*

Matteo: But yes, I never thought that I’d write this: But Alex is totally right. I completely agree. Screw the statistics, Jonas, come on.

Jonas: Whoa, whoa, okay, yes.

Abdi: For love!

David: Si si… per l’amore! And I was actually crying at first! I was so shocked about Jonas’ somber behavior and really disillusioned for a moment. But I agree with Alex. I was only too lazy to type.

Jonas: Guys, I understood… I won’t bother you any further with reality. Love is more important. I understand…

Carlos: I’m not so sure about that, Brudi…

Abdi: About what now?

Carlos: Well that he really understands it or if he’s only saying that to be left alone…

Abdi: I don’t know, either. Alex can gauge people really well, he should tell us if Jonas only wants to be left alone.

Carlos: Where’s Alex when you need him?!

David: He’s breaking up with Mia right now…

Jonas: haha.

Heike: Hello my dear, I haven’t heard anything from you in so long and I’m thinking about you very often. I wanted to ask you if you, or the both of you, are doing good, if that’s okay. Since we texted so much at the beginning of your journey, I’m now worried if everything is okay. I don’t want to annoy or bother you again but it would be nice if you could reach out again. Tomorrow, Jörg and I will fly to Croatia for a week. Laura said that WhatsApp will still work from there, so you can text me anytime. I hope you’re enjoying your holiday. Your Mama

David: Hello Mama. I’m sorry that I haven’t reached out in so long. You don’t bother or annoy me and you can feel free to ask. We said that we’d try and I guess part of that is that I check in every now and then. We’re seeing so much - and then I simply forgot about it. But we’re really doing pretty good - so you don’t have to worry. We went to Florence for a few days (because Matteo’s last name is Florenzi and we really had to take a photo of him in front of the city sign) and then we camped at the beach for a night. Two hours ago we arrived in Genoa, but we haven’t seen too much of the city yet. We’ll do that tomorrow. After that we were planning on going to Milan. I hope you have a lot of fun in Croatia. You can send a few photos, if you want.

Heike: Now I’m really relieved to hear that I don’t annoy you and that you’re doing good. I probably worried for no reason. But it’s still so new that we’re trying again and I don’t want to make any mistakes. I don’t want to lose you again. I hope you know that! You really get around in Italy. I’m happy to read that you guys are seeing so much. And you spent the night at the beach?! Is that even legal nowadays? Milan is supposed to be very nice! I also want to go there one day. But now we’ll go to Croatia first… I’ll send you photos when we’re there and I’d be happy if you’d also send a few photos of you guys again so that I can see with my own eyes that you’re doing good ;-)

David: You don’t have to be afraid of making mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes and I’ll surely make some mistakes as well. I was just as serious about it as you when I agreed that we’ll try again. And I promise you that I’ll try to not withdraw again if there’s something that I don’t like. Maybe in that case we could just try to just talk to each other normally so that nothing will escalate again.

Heike: When did you become so mature, grown-up and wise, my boy? I would really like that! And I’m happy to read that you are just as serious about it than I am and that you worried just as much. We can do this! I’m there for you if you need me.

David: I’ve always been mature, grown-up and wise ;-) No, of course not… but I think I’m just calmer on the inside since I came to Berlin… and since Matteo’s there.

David: *sends the photo of Matteo’s grandmother and the two of them, some photos from Florence and some photos of their day at the beach* The first photo is from Ravenna. The two of us with Matteo’s grandmother. The others are from Florence and our day at the beach. We haven’t taken any photos in Genoa yet. We don’t know either if camping on the beach is legal in Italy. But we stumbled upon a stretch of beach where no one else was there. It was a little secluded by a forest and rocks. And it was so nice there that we simply risked it.

Heike: Matteo’s grandmother looks very warm! I’m sure she must have been happy that you visited her! The photo of the two of you with the city sign is really funny. Whose idea was it to make the i? And Florence also looks great! Very nice photos! And the beach really is a dream! I think even I would have ignored some laws and spent the night there. It’s nice to see that you’re so happy!

David: Matteo’s grandmother really was very warm. A pity that it’s not possible to visit her often. I think Matteo really misses her. I made the i for Matteo. If you do something then do it properly ;-)

Heike: I should have figured that it was you… ;-) I have to go finish packing now. Maybe we can talk on the phone when we’re all back in Germany again? Then it’s also not long until your move and your surgery. Does the offer still stand that I can visit you after the surgery?

David: Yes, the offer still stands. But maybe we really better talk on the phone again. Have a nice holiday and we’ll talk soon.

David: Umm… I need all of that… those are old sketches and stuff like that… please don’t throw it out!

Larua: Don’t worry, I won’t throw anything out… but you could somehow sort all of that or whatever… or put it in a folder… or into boxes… that’s all just loosely flying around. This way it surely won’t survive the move.

David: Yes, I’ll look through it when we’re back. Is everything good with you apart from that?

Laura: By the way, I didn’t vacuum under the bed now. How do you usually do that? But yes, otherwise everything’s good with me. Work is a little annoying right now, but it’s okay. Luckily it’s the weekend! And what about you guys? Everything okay? Where are you?

Matteo: Genoaaaaaa, you would also like it here, very quaint.

David: I just don’t vacuum under the bed…

Laura: Okay, let’s better talk about Genoa than the dust under your bed, otherwise I’ll sound like Mama… speaking of, how is it going between the two of you?

David: I thought you wanted to talk about Genoa… but between Mama and me it's… okay? No idea… we sometimes text. And don’t let work annoy you! Enjoy the weekend!

Matteo: We haven’t seen much of Genoa yet. We’ll send photos tomorrow.

Laura: Thank you. And I think that’s good, David. That’s why she doesn’t ask me about you as much anymore :)

David: In case she should do it again, then just point her in my direction. But I think there won’t really be too many reasons for complaints in the near future… She’s really trying…

Laura: I’m really happy to hear that! Maybe you can do this, after all! I have to go now. I’m meeting  friends for dinner. Have fun and keep in touch!

Matteo: And we’re doing really good, and like Jonas has surely told you, we’re in Genoa. After that we want to go to Milan and then we’ll see… so we’ll definitely be on the road again for a little while longer…

Kiki: Oh, Milan! How great! Will you also go shopping there?

Matteo: Haha, no.

Kiki: Why not!? They also have really nice stuff for men!

David: @ Kiki: No, it’s okay… there are other things to see in Milan apart from clothes stores and we don’t want to stay thaaat long that we’d have time for both! @ Amira: I can only recommend a road trip!

Sam: Hey, Amira, let’s do a roadtrip!

Amira: If Mama lets me go… we’ll see. But the idea is definitely nice!

David: And how are you guys doing? Any news?

Hanna: No, not really… Oh, yes, Florian from our year… I think he also had advanced PE, David… well anyways, he emigrated, I heard. He sold all his stuff, booked a train ticket to New Zealand and left. That’s really sick.

Sam: Florian Armbrust? Really? He was always so nerdy!

Kiki: But that somehow fits him. His hair is longer, he’s surely into nature and stuff.

Matteo: I don’t know him.

Kiki: Oh and Sara is moving to Hamburg

Matteo: What?

Kiki: Well, that’s what I heard from… Jule I think? She heard it from Leonie… so I don’t know if that’s true…

Hanna: But still gossiping about it

Hanna: That wasn’t gossip, that was a fact.

David: Yes, Florian was also in advanced PE… and he really was a New Zealand fan! He actually wanted to go there for only one year after Abi and then study English in Berlin afterwards. Sick that he’ll stay there now!

Amira: Well but if he already was a fan and wanted to go there for a year then it fits! Hey, Sam! Let’s do a roadtrip to New Zealand!

Sam: I’m in!

David: Hamburg is also supposed to be nice. The last time Matteo and I saw Sara and Leonie was 3 months or so ago… back then they still said Berlin…

Kiki: Well like I said: If one of you is really interested then they can just ask Sara or Leonie themselves if the rumor is true.

Sam: Whoa, you really met up with them, wasn’t that weird?

Matteo: Weird? No, why would it? :-)

Hanna: Haha, I like you, Matteo

Matteo: I know that. I’m just such a loveable guy

Matteo: All I know is that Sara wanted to go to a theater, maybe it worked out for her in Hamburg. Or Kiki misunderstood something. Doesn’t really matter.

A little into Madison Pearson by x (with additions) Summer 2026

I first met Madison Pearson a year ago at George Clooney’s 65th birthday celebrations in Perthshire, Scotland in a fashion closer to that of long-travelled friends who haven’t seen each other in years than that of complete strangers who just so happened to enjoy the same foodie indulgence (bacon-wrapped dates, anyone?). Despite the grandeur of the guests present at the lavish affair – politicians, laureates, philanthropists and A-list celebrities (including her own husband actor Kevin Pearson) – Madison Pearson had the kind of invigorating energy that just drew absolutely anyone in.

Perhaps it was the enchanting mix of contained excitement and understated class she exuded that will warm you upon beholding up close, or perhaps it was the charm of a more loquacious woman of California mixed with the rare intelligence of a world-traveller. Either way, despite the taxing social waltz her husband took her throughout the night bumping elbows with the elites, Madison was one of those people who truly left a lasting impression.

Squeezed next to her in the back of a cab, Madison is head-to-toe in Temperley London x Axel Arigato (vintage-inspired nautical jumpsuit and platform suedes) en route to a baking class where her five-year-old twins Nick and Franny are waiting for her to join them along with their father.

“I was supposed to get changed,” she says, lamenting on her attire worn for a meeting with some West Chester development executives that’s perhaps too luxurious for an afternoon of mixing flour and butter and sugar. “But you have to make at least a bit of an impression, right?”

Madison has been the powerhouse head honcho of the Pearson family business, Big Three Homes, since its establishment three years prior. With a solid background in business management and a surefooted ability to navigate the mores of an ever-changing property development landscape, it was no question that Madison would rise up to the challenge of breaking into the market with a business model founded on family, philanthropy and sustainability.

Despite growing up largely independent without people close enough to call family, Madison has also found the means to speak about her experiences in an effort to encourage and give hope to the younger generation of girls and young women who may be going through an ongoing battle between themselves and their self-worth.

“I never felt enough,” she says of the origins of her battle with her eating disorder that began when she was still in middle school. “I look at Franny and she’s so small and carefree and I want to give her everything I never had, but I know that even that won’t be enough unless she herself realises how worthy she is of all the good and all the love that she deserves.”

We pull up outside the baking studio and she brightens at spotting her husband and twins’ silhouettes behind the frosted glass windows. Nick and Franny almost topple over their stools as they rush to overwhelm their mother while their father scrambles to keep his heart rate down—a close call with their foreheads hitting the edge of the marble benches as they got down will just about do it.

Even with her petite frame, Madison carries the twins like she’s just holding a bag of groceries. Unsurprisingly, both Nick and Franny are as enamoured of their mother as she is of them and are on the verge of complaining when put down just as Kevin, grinning ear to ear, envelops Madison in his huge arms—to be fair, he’s always been quite remarkably chiselled but the Tom Ford sweater and those tailored jeans (chosen by his wife “of course” as Kevin credits) is a different level altogether. He leans down to give her a kiss.

Back in Perthshire a year ago at the Clooney extravaganza, I caught up with the married couple the day after the festivities over a traditional Scottish breakfast as we overlooked the highlands of the Gleneagles.

Perhaps unlike the Clooneys, who were still entertaining their guests from all over world, the Pearsons were much more relaxed within their own family bubble. Having just celebrated Kevin’s twin sister’s wedding three days prior with close family and friends, the pair was grateful to spend some quality time with each other and their twins without the need to be anything but present.

From my perch, Kevin and Madison were the kind of couple that were very much “old souls”. They held an affection for each other that is rooted from sincere fondness and adoration for each other—they converse like deep friends and trade wits like secret lovers. And despite the media attention of the adorable moments shared online (often by the social-savvy actor), Madison is uncompromising when it comes to the privacy of their children.

While the twins dipped in and out of the table pilfering scones or taking over their mother’s green juice, neither one of their parents were the least bit bothered by the constant attention they need to provide such a rumbunctious pair.

“They’re so funny,” Kevin said, a careful eye on little Nick who was staring at the whipped cream on his tiny finger like he was contemplating on wiping it on his dad’s face.

I do recall having a good laugh when I accompanied the family on a tour of a nearby 17th century castle and little Franny, a copy-and-paste of her mother, pointed at a wood-cut table decoration of what looked to be intertwined lovers and confidently yelled, “That’s mommy and daddy!”

The fierce mama bear of the Pearson household of four (Madison sometimes calls her husband “kid number three, but don’t tell him that or he’ll get ideas of trying for another!”), remarks that forging her own path away from her husband’s spotlight had been remarkably easy, and she gives much of the credit to the rest of the Pearson clan who all treasure family more than anything.

Even with the notoriety of her brother-in-law, rising political star Randall Pearson, who currently serves in the Philadelphia municipality and is on track for a career in congress, Madison says that quality time to rest and recuperate is a must.

“[My sisters-in-law] and I have a girls weekend every other month when we can where we literally book ourselves a gorgeous Airbnb and just glamp down. I’m talking sleep-ins, endless mimosas, spa sessions… you name it! It’s the kind of getaway that [our husbands] get really jealous for.”

And upon being reminded, Kevin, now sporting Franny’s tiny chef’s hat, shakes his head at his wife conspicuously as if in reprimand that he most definitely should be included in the gals’ next glamping session despite him being, well, not a gal.

While Nick proudly counts five of about a thousand sprinkles that are scattered on his side of the bench, Madison congratulates him with a warmth and pride that is infectious enough to make you think that she’s proud of you too. And despite her husband’s very obvious possessiveness over her—you could count only one occasion where the actor is not at arm’s length from her—when Madison focuses her attention on you, it’s not difficult to believe that this powerhouse woman could truly do absolutely anything.

“She is that and more,” Kevin says about his wife. “Sometimes I can’t believe that this is my life. Our life! Like, she’s mywife, and these two are our kids. It’s just wild! I’m grateful, just grateful.”

Despite the doubts and fear that had been Madison’s constant companions for most of her life and especially going into adulthood, there is a fierce resilience in her that she could only credit her dear grandmother Frances—her own daughter having been named after her.

“She always believed in me,” she recalls, an eye on the twins squatting by the oven watching their creations rise. Despite the deep grief and loss that are quite intimately shared by the married couple, Madison says that it has only made them more resolute in loving their children and each other as best as they possible can every day.

“You just don’t know when it’s your time,” she says. “So, Kev and I make sure that there are no ‘next times’ when it comes to our family.”

When I had asked Madison about Big Three Homes back in Scotland, she squealed at the origin story of its founding, which started with Kevin’s late father Jack Pearson having asked his wife Rebecca to start the business together as partners.

Although Jack’s tragic and unexpected passing put an indefinite hold to this dream, its fulfilment through his son Kevin and through Madison is a testament to the kind of legacy that Jack Pearson had begun through his kids.

“I mean, it started off as more of a passion project for Kev,” Madison says. “But we knew it was always going to be something really special. Especially because his first project was the house that Jack had wanted to build for his mom. And when Kevin had this wonderful idea of bringing the family together to start the business and he asked me to be a part of it, how could I have said no!”

Kevin makes a point to say though that even if the idea of Big Three Homes originally came from his parents, its fulfilment is as much a part of his and Madison’s own story as it is his parents’. And choosing to have Madison work alongside him wasn’t just the best choice (given how much of a boss she is), but it was the only choice he ever wanted or considered.

“I know this is cliché, but I can’t stand not being with her,” Kevin says. “I made a point of this when our twins were born, and I meant it!”

Madison and the family split their time between California and Pennsylvania both for Kevin’s work and for the business, but nowadays, it’s more of an 80-20 split in favour of the east coast.

When asked about a career path carved away from her hometown in California, Madison says fondly, “It surprises a lot of people when I say this but I’m actually an east coast girl.”

This fun fact translates quite well in Madison’s day to day. She could turn any conversation into an erudite discussion, and she will utterly beguile you with her knowledge of books and literature—her constant companions when she can sneak away to her own personal Taj Mahal, a stunning Japanese garden in the backyard of their Pennsylvania home which Kevin built especially for her.

As the Pearsons continue to make a splash in the world of construction, politics, arts and entertainment—a rare mix indeed for a family in the spotlight—Madison is determined to continue writing a story with her husband and her children that she never had growing up.

With the twins happily destroying their creations by the mouthfuls, Madison promises that another visit is a must and perhaps this time, she can show us a collection of Kevin’s baby photos coupled with her own personal commentary to boot.

And who would say no to that.

The Platonic Series ~ Two Weeks Later 

A/n: this is super short and i wrote it pretty quickly yesterday. I thought about saving this and waiting until i had something 6k-7k written to post it as a longer piece, but honestly i just felt like posting this now, so here ya go. its about 1k.

(2026) ~two weeks after frantic calls

You know that Ella absolutely adores Shawn. There’s not even a shadow of a doubt about that, however, what you’re not so sure about is how she would feel about you and Shawn together. For as long as Ella can remember, you and Shawn have been best friends, co-parents in a way, but never romantically linked. 

The last even remotely romantic thing you did with Shawn was that kiss you shared when you were fifteen and even that kiss felt platonic. 

If you’re being honest with yourself, you’ve felt this way for a long time, but you didn’t want to admit it, not to yourself, and certainly not to Shawn. The truth is,  it was nearly impossible for you not to fall for him. From watching him calm Ella down in the middle of the night when she was a newborn to noticing the way he always made sure he had a carseat in his car just in case she needed to be picked up from somewhere, his love for Ella made you love him. Even though you’ve always known this, you really convinced yourself that’s all it was. Shawn, as your best friend, loved Ella, and you loved him for it. 

The truth is, you loved Shawn before Ella was even born, and you’ll love him long after she grows up and moves out. You’ll never not love Shawn Mendes. 

But falling in love with him could possibly ruin everything you’ve come to love about your friendship with him and that terrifies you to your very core. That’s what has stopped you from even entertaining the idea before this. 

Shawn has been basically living with you and Ella for the past two weeks. Katie came home last week, and Shawn and Katie broke up. Even though Shawn’s resolve to break up with her had only further solidified between the time he spoke to you about it and when Katie arrived back home from Tennessee, you were still a little shocked that afternoon when he returned to your apartment, announcing it was over. 

Shawn told Katie she could stay at his place until she found her own place to rent, which also meant Shawn moved in with you and Ella during the interim, although he never really left after Ella’s accident. It just became more official once he told Katie she could stay at his place. Shawn mostly camps out on the couch, except for the time he fell asleep on the little beanbag by Ella’s bed when he was supposed to be reading her a bedtime story, or the times he fell asleep in your bed after a late night horror movie after Ella went to bed.

During these last two weeks, you’ve fallen into a surprisngly easy routine with Shawn. You take Ella to school every morning, and Shawn has been picking her up after school, so she doesn’t have to stay at the afterschool care she normally does. He’ll usually either make her a snack or buy her one on the way home and then he’ll help her with her homework. You’ve been taking turns with cooking dinner, although Shawn normally lets Ella pick a restaurant and he’ll order out when it’s his turn. 

It’s been nice having Shawn around. He’s been keeping an eye on Ella, and helping you watch her because you’ve been extra paranoid since the accident, wanting to know that she’s okay and theres nothing wrong that you might be missing. Another perk is that you don’t have to listen to Ella complain about wanting to go over to Shawn’s now that he’s always at your place. And you’re not drinking wine alone after Ella goes to bed because Shawn’s there. 

“So what?” You question after one too many glasses of wine on a thursday night. “Are you gonna get a new girlfriend?”

He chuckles, signaling he heard you, but he doesn’t tear his gaze away from the tv to even entertain your question. However, you persist, the liquid courage causing you to press into your best friends dating life, not that it’s abnormal for you to do so, but it feels different this time. For a reason you can’t quite pinpoint, everything feels different this time. “Seriously, are you going to start dating someone new now?” You ask. 

Shawn turns slightly, angling his body so he’s facing you, studying you for a second before responding, “No. Why?” 

You shrug, “I just need a warning, that’s all.”

“A warning? What kind of warning?”

“A warning before you introduce my daughter to a random girl.” You respond, backtracking. That was not the reason you were originally questioning, but the feel in the room turned serious for a moment, and it caused you to rethink your reasoning. 

Shawn raises an eyebrow at you. “When have I ever introduced Ella to a random girl I was dating?” He questions. 

Again, you just shrug becaue he’s right. He and Katie dated for at least a few months before he introduced her to Ella. Just like how you were cautious about any guys you brought around, making sure it was serious before you introduced them to Ella, Shawn did the same. 

“Well, just in case.” You say, making a conscious effort to move your eyes away from Shawn’s questioning gaze and staring at the tv instead. 

“Y/n.” Shawn lets your name hang in the air between you two. When you provide no response, he repeats himself, “Y/n.” Then he pokes your shoulder. “Hey, are you feeling okay?” 

This time you answer, “Yeah. I’m fine. Just had a little too much wine.” 

He smiles now, at the sight of tipsy you. “Okay, well, I will definitely warn you before bringing any--” He holds up his fingers mockingly in the air doing air quotes, “Random girls -- home.” 

“Wait, you mean home here? Because you don’t even have a bedroom so you’re not hooking up with anyone here.” You respond forcefully. 

Shawn, knowing you’re not entirely thinking straight, just responds, “I won’t bring anyone home here.”

“Okay good.” You say, leaning over to rest your head against his shoulder as you turn your attention back to the tv, unable to stop the flutter you feel in your stomach focusing on the fact that Shawn called this home, even though you were the one who called it home first. 

Shawn shifts you a bit, moving his arm around your shoulder, so you’re resting more against his chest, “Good.” He says, as you cuddle a little closer to him.
