it’s not weak if you need to be held, ch.13
Fandom: This Is Us
Pairing: Kevin Pearson/Madison Simons
Tags: Unplanned pregnancy; strangers to lovers; body issues and references to addiction
Summary: But, Madison figures, if she’d had more time to think about it, she would have imagined a scene like something from a movie she could so perfectly picture Kevin in, maybe slipping an envelope at him with baby pictures inside across a table at a coffee shop like she’s a private detective or from the Irish mob. Maybe it’d even be raining.
Status: In progress
Extract:
She chuckles to herself, and Kevin looks at Madison over her shoulder. Madison shrugs with a grin. "You girls had fun, then?" he asks, curious and happy for Madison.
Madison had fretted over this dinner with her sister all week; Kevin didn't think Lauren would still be there by the time he came by. But Madison looks happy and relaxed without the help of wine, so things must be some level of okay between them. "Maddie told me about your sex moves," Lauren blurts out. "Mad props on Babymaking 101, Kevin. And it's a good thing you got that out of the way before, it'd be kinda hard to do it again with that bump," Lauren snorts. "See?" she adds as she turns to her sister, sounding softer. "I was right all along, Maddie. Sex is fun and you can enjoy it with the right guy. You deserve more than tools who only last five minutes."
Madison wipes her soap-soaked hand over her face. Kevin can't help laughing. "How come you're not even the most inappropriate Simons?" he asks her, bewildered. With the way Madison described her sister, he'd pictured Lauren as this composed, elegant older version of Madison, serious and responsible - nothing like the tipsy, funny mess she is right now, teasing him about his babymaking skills and her sister about her past dalliances.
Kevin wonders what kind of guys Madison has been dating. Probably the exact opposite of him: someone serious, steady, reliable - nothing like he was when he first met her, but the kind of man he's been trying to become. And Madison deserves that.
"Hey," Lauren wriggles her finger at him. "You can talk about inappropriate. Most guys take a girl on a date before they try the -"
"And that's your cue to come help me make your bed," Madison interrupts her with both her hands on her sister's shoulders, hastily stirring her towards the guest room.

How ya doing bestie bc im doing bad 😀 ik you were kevison primarily and I was rooting for cassidy but 😀 ooooohhhhhhh man. Oooooooohhhhhh my god. ahahahaha
oh babe! thank you for checking in. i understand and feel you too. i was rooting for cassidy to some extent once they closed the door on madison (still have hard time adjusting to that). i hope you are okay too. this is safe space for cassidy. i have always loved her. maybe as kevin’s best friend. but i would have been okay if it had been her.
atleast with cassidy, kevin was a friend first and had actually stood by her side in so many ways. they were friends, honest and actually cared for each other deeply.
tiu writers going in kophie way is their own death. they know what they did. and they choose the easy way out of this “long story.” they didn’t even try to make them actually have a journey after the second time. the guy has disappointed her twice already and still there were family members cheering for them. unreal and unbelievable. and no i am not salty. i had bitterly accepted that kevison didn’t happen. but i was/am never going to believe that there’s a universe where kophie makes sense. they have literally put them on a pedestal and endorsed them. i don’t even know for what reason. not only the character development went for a toss, i feel bad for what they did for sophie’s character. if they were endgame, atleast don’t make her have a divorce the 3rd time. what was the reason for that? and kevin, man. have some values. you were literally proposing to cassidy at one time during the night to have a go at this and next thing you are like “it is always was you sophie.”
i don’t know man! next time ill be careful investing in show that doesn’t have their shit together. ruining character development to satisfy their end plans which they might have thought in the beginning. ya. atleast make the story consistent to what you want to tell. and please stop baiting fans along the way.
@andnotletyougo what are your thoughts about this mess?

A little into Madison Pearson by x (with additions) Summer 2026
I first met Madison Pearson a year ago at George Clooney’s 65th birthday celebrations in Perthshire, Scotland in a fashion closer to that of long-travelled friends who haven’t seen each other in years than that of complete strangers who just so happened to enjoy the same foodie indulgence (bacon-wrapped dates, anyone?). Despite the grandeur of the guests present at the lavish affair – politicians, laureates, philanthropists and A-list celebrities (including her own husband actor Kevin Pearson) – Madison Pearson had the kind of invigorating energy that just drew absolutely anyone in.
Perhaps it was the enchanting mix of contained excitement and understated class she exuded that will warm you upon beholding up close, or perhaps it was the charm of a more loquacious woman of California mixed with the rare intelligence of a world-traveller. Either way, despite the taxing social waltz her husband took her throughout the night bumping elbows with the elites, Madison was one of those people who truly left a lasting impression.
Squeezed next to her in the back of a cab, Madison is head-to-toe in Temperley London x Axel Arigato (vintage-inspired nautical jumpsuit and platform suedes) en route to a baking class where her five-year-old twins Nick and Franny are waiting for her to join them along with their father.
“I was supposed to get changed,” she says, lamenting on her attire worn for a meeting with some West Chester development executives that’s perhaps too luxurious for an afternoon of mixing flour and butter and sugar. “But you have to make at least a bit of an impression, right?”
Madison has been the powerhouse head honcho of the Pearson family business, Big Three Homes, since its establishment three years prior. With a solid background in business management and a surefooted ability to navigate the mores of an ever-changing property development landscape, it was no question that Madison would rise up to the challenge of breaking into the market with a business model founded on family, philanthropy and sustainability.
Despite growing up largely independent without people close enough to call family, Madison has also found the means to speak about her experiences in an effort to encourage and give hope to the younger generation of girls and young women who may be going through an ongoing battle between themselves and their self-worth.
“I never felt enough,” she says of the origins of her battle with her eating disorder that began when she was still in middle school. “I look at Franny and she’s so small and carefree and I want to give her everything I never had, but I know that even that won’t be enough unless she herself realises how worthy she is of all the good and all the love that she deserves.”
We pull up outside the baking studio and she brightens at spotting her husband and twins’ silhouettes behind the frosted glass windows. Nick and Franny almost topple over their stools as they rush to overwhelm their mother while their father scrambles to keep his heart rate down—a close call with their foreheads hitting the edge of the marble benches as they got down will just about do it.
Even with her petite frame, Madison carries the twins like she’s just holding a bag of groceries. Unsurprisingly, both Nick and Franny are as enamoured of their mother as she is of them and are on the verge of complaining when put down just as Kevin, grinning ear to ear, envelops Madison in his huge arms—to be fair, he’s always been quite remarkably chiselled but the Tom Ford sweater and those tailored jeans (chosen by his wife “of course” as Kevin credits) is a different level altogether. He leans down to give her a kiss.
Back in Perthshire a year ago at the Clooney extravaganza, I caught up with the married couple the day after the festivities over a traditional Scottish breakfast as we overlooked the highlands of the Gleneagles.
Perhaps unlike the Clooneys, who were still entertaining their guests from all over world, the Pearsons were much more relaxed within their own family bubble. Having just celebrated Kevin’s twin sister’s wedding three days prior with close family and friends, the pair was grateful to spend some quality time with each other and their twins without the need to be anything but present.
From my perch, Kevin and Madison were the kind of couple that were very much “old souls”. They held an affection for each other that is rooted from sincere fondness and adoration for each other—they converse like deep friends and trade wits like secret lovers. And despite the media attention of the adorable moments shared online (often by the social-savvy actor), Madison is uncompromising when it comes to the privacy of their children.
While the twins dipped in and out of the table pilfering scones or taking over their mother’s green juice, neither one of their parents were the least bit bothered by the constant attention they need to provide such a rumbunctious pair.
“They’re so funny,” Kevin said, a careful eye on little Nick who was staring at the whipped cream on his tiny finger like he was contemplating on wiping it on his dad’s face.
I do recall having a good laugh when I accompanied the family on a tour of a nearby 17th century castle and little Franny, a copy-and-paste of her mother, pointed at a wood-cut table decoration of what looked to be intertwined lovers and confidently yelled, “That’s mommy and daddy!”
The fierce mama bear of the Pearson household of four (Madison sometimes calls her husband “kid number three, but don’t tell him that or he’ll get ideas of trying for another!”), remarks that forging her own path away from her husband’s spotlight had been remarkably easy, and she gives much of the credit to the rest of the Pearson clan who all treasure family more than anything.
Even with the notoriety of her brother-in-law, rising political star Randall Pearson, who currently serves in the Philadelphia municipality and is on track for a career in congress, Madison says that quality time to rest and recuperate is a must.
“[My sisters-in-law] and I have a girls weekend every other month when we can where we literally book ourselves a gorgeous Airbnb and just glamp down. I’m talking sleep-ins, endless mimosas, spa sessions… you name it! It’s the kind of getaway that [our husbands] get really jealous for.”
And upon being reminded, Kevin, now sporting Franny’s tiny chef’s hat, shakes his head at his wife conspicuously as if in reprimand that he most definitely should be included in the gals’ next glamping session despite him being, well, not a gal.
While Nick proudly counts five of about a thousand sprinkles that are scattered on his side of the bench, Madison congratulates him with a warmth and pride that is infectious enough to make you think that she’s proud of you too. And despite her husband’s very obvious possessiveness over her—you could count only one occasion where the actor is not at arm’s length from her—when Madison focuses her attention on you, it’s not difficult to believe that this powerhouse woman could truly do absolutely anything.
“She is that and more,” Kevin says about his wife. “Sometimes I can’t believe that this is my life. Our life! Like, she’s mywife, and these two are our kids. It’s just wild! I’m grateful, just grateful.”
Despite the doubts and fear that had been Madison’s constant companions for most of her life and especially going into adulthood, there is a fierce resilience in her that she could only credit her dear grandmother Frances—her own daughter having been named after her.
“She always believed in me,” she recalls, an eye on the twins squatting by the oven watching their creations rise. Despite the deep grief and loss that are quite intimately shared by the married couple, Madison says that it has only made them more resolute in loving their children and each other as best as they possible can every day.
“You just don’t know when it’s your time,” she says. “So, Kev and I make sure that there are no ‘next times’ when it comes to our family.”
When I had asked Madison about Big Three Homes back in Scotland, she squealed at the origin story of its founding, which started with Kevin’s late father Jack Pearson having asked his wife Rebecca to start the business together as partners.
Although Jack’s tragic and unexpected passing put an indefinite hold to this dream, its fulfilment through his son Kevin and through Madison is a testament to the kind of legacy that Jack Pearson had begun through his kids.
“I mean, it started off as more of a passion project for Kev,” Madison says. “But we knew it was always going to be something really special. Especially because his first project was the house that Jack had wanted to build for his mom. And when Kevin had this wonderful idea of bringing the family together to start the business and he asked me to be a part of it, how could I have said no!”
Kevin makes a point to say though that even if the idea of Big Three Homes originally came from his parents, its fulfilment is as much a part of his and Madison’s own story as it is his parents’. And choosing to have Madison work alongside him wasn’t just the best choice (given how much of a boss she is), but it was the only choice he ever wanted or considered.
“I know this is cliché, but I can’t stand not being with her,” Kevin says. “I made a point of this when our twins were born, and I meant it!”
Madison and the family split their time between California and Pennsylvania both for Kevin’s work and for the business, but nowadays, it’s more of an 80-20 split in favour of the east coast.
When asked about a career path carved away from her hometown in California, Madison says fondly, “It surprises a lot of people when I say this but I’m actually an east coast girl.”
This fun fact translates quite well in Madison’s day to day. She could turn any conversation into an erudite discussion, and she will utterly beguile you with her knowledge of books and literature—her constant companions when she can sneak away to her own personal Taj Mahal, a stunning Japanese garden in the backyard of their Pennsylvania home which Kevin built especially for her.
As the Pearsons continue to make a splash in the world of construction, politics, arts and entertainment—a rare mix indeed for a family in the spotlight—Madison is determined to continue writing a story with her husband and her children that she never had growing up.
With the twins happily destroying their creations by the mouthfuls, Madison promises that another visit is a must and perhaps this time, she can show us a collection of Kevin’s baby photos coupled with her own personal commentary to boot.
And who would say no to that.

another kevison fanfic none of you asked for (also on ao3):
[Thread] Who's the nicest celeb you've met in real life?
-
Kevin Pearson. Was an extra for one of his movies and couldn’t be any nicer. Chatted with us even though technically you weren’t supposed to. He joked around a lot and showed us pics of his family. Real top bloke.
-
I met this guy once on vacation in Italy. We were at a table next to him and my newborn was screaming bloody murder, mom was in the bathroom. Couldn’t quite calm my son and I was getting real embarrassed with the loud noise. Some of the waiters came over to their table to ask if they wanted to move but Kevin shut them down immediately. Actually got a bit cross that they even suggested it. His wife suggested to rock my baby on the side to make him stop and he did! She knows a few tricks having twins and stuff. Also shared that joy/misery thing of being first time parents. Anyway, they left first (they got there earlier) and we learned after that they paid for our meals too. Couldn’t believe it.
replied: Wow. That’s the so fucking nice of them.
replied: Yeah made my wife cry haha
-
I’ve heard only good things about him too! My mom lives in Philly and his brother was running for city council a few years back and he was there and took photos with all the Korean mamas including my own and my grandma! apparently he smells really expensive :P
-
Didn’t know that I was fully chatting up his wife at Starbucks until I saw a pic of them at the premiere for one of his movies. I’d be embarrassed by my god she was fantastic! 10/10 would’ve gone for it if I wasnt such a potato
replied: And wasn’t married.
replied: That too
-
My daughter was an extra on one of his movies and says he’s the nicest guy and “such a dad” lol! And her dad’s a real “dad” dad so for her to say that about a famous actor is funny
-
I used to teach his kids in my kindergarten class. Daughter’s wicked smart. I can tell you all the mothers would have a fit every time he’d come by to pick them up and if it’s not his wife or them together, it’s him. Very hands on. I’d say that counts for nice.
-
Rocked out to a Lady Gaga show with him and his wife in Vegas. His wife and I are practically best friends now! We’re on first name basis ;)
replied: Sounds fun! What were they there for if you don’t mind me asking? Coz isn’t he like sober now?
replied to a reply: I think it was for a niece’s birthday or something? Couldn’t remember, was pretty wild night :P And I didn’t see any drinks.Even his wife wasn’t drinking I think? They were literally there to enjoy Gaga like the rest of us
-
I love hearing stories about him like this because it always looks like he’s such a pretentious pretty boy jerk especially back in the day
replied: Getting your life sorted can change a man
replied to a reply: Yeah he’s pretty mellowed out since getting sober. He’s had that DUI and rehab stint but now he’s a real family man and seems to love his wife very much. Good for him.
-
Doesn’t he remind you of George Clooney? Got married late and had boy girl twins and is loving life!
replied: True!!
-
Not sure if everybody knows but his wife Madison is pretty big in the interior design space especially coz she like pretty much runs their fam construction business. I follow her on Insta and I know everyone has a crush on Kevin but I’d pick her over him any day!
replied: OMG YES SAME! She puts together these amazing DIY palettes and I’m obsessed! I’d also pick her over him any day even just to pick her brain
replied to a reply: She also recommends the best books!!!
-
My mom’s in the planning side of construction and met his wife in West Chester. She did a presentation and afterwards her and my mom shared parenting tips like they’re in some mom club. Apparently she was the sweetest and her babies are adorable and also Kevin calls a lot lol
-
Met him at the airport, wife’s a huge fan of the manny so sucked my gut to ask for a pic. When he found out it’s for the missus, he recorded a special vid saying his iconic line. Missus was over the moon. Real good fella
replied: MANNY SAY WHAAATTTTT
replied: That’s so nice
replied: He did for my mom as well! All the moms love him!
-
Kevin Pearson helped re-build my grandparents’ burned down convenience store. Couldn’t thank him enough even if I tried
replied: Wow, that’s real generous. How are the grandparents?
replied to a reply: Thanks! They’re over the moon. They have a house near the area but gran said he’d come by with his kids from time to time. Even if gran didn’t want to, they always insisted to pay for whatever the kids wanted.
-
Delivered the cake for his uncle (grandpa’s?) wedding and he gave a seriously generous tip. Oh and his wife packed me pigs in the blanket.
replied: Pigs in the blanket?! What in the middle school
replied: Apparently it was the uncle/grandad’s favorite or something and they double ordered. But who cares free food!
replied to a reply: Did it come with ketchup?
replied to a reply: Hot, wrapped in foil and handful of ketchup packets. I felt like one of the kids
-
Not him but his brother who’s like a big shot in politics right now. Real top guy and had the best laugh
-
This doesn’t sound real but I’ve bumped into him literally five times over the past year he’ll probably think I’m some stalker. Rarely saw him without his family and once his kid threw a ball at me. He apologised but c’mon you either throw a ball or bounce it no big deal. Besides, that kid has David Beckham’s kids manners. Real like English folk polite it’s insane
replied: That’s always nice to hear that celebrity kids aren’t spoiled brats. We know a few good of them are
replied to a reply: Celebrity kids are different from kid celebrities though
replied to a reply: Didn’t say they were the same? Just saying that for a kid of someone so rich and famous you’d think they’d be a bit more spoiled but they weren’t at all and was beyond respectful and that’s a testament to the parents.
replied to a reply: Agree. I’ve met this particular celebrity’s kids and mind you they’re teens now but god they were just awful and pretentious. Even more than their famous parent which is saying something
-
Not him but I did meet that actress that was so embarrassingly flirty around him during the press conference of hat film he did a few years back. She’s a real bitch and so fake and I’m so glad she’s been dropped from the sequel
replied: Oh god yeah I remember her. She was so obnoxious laughing at everything he said like stfu it’s not that funny!!!! The secondhand embarrassment watching her and him being all polite about it *chills*
replied: She’s the worst. No talent
replied to a reply: I was an extra for some scenes in that movie and she was WAY worse and such a diva for someone unknown. Kevin’s a real nice guy though and just let her be. He talks about his wife and kids a lot but she would not take a hint!
replied to a reply: That is just embarrassing
-
Alright story time. Was working as a barista at a cafe and it was one of those really shitty days. He came in, ordered and waited and was all nice and took some pics with fans. Anyway, like I said shitty day so I mixed up his coffee order and got him two lattes instead of cappuccinos. Mind you, it was a busy asf day as well and I was the only one making coffees. He comes over and tells me and I apologise but by this time my manager’s already all up on my ass for serving Kevin Pearson incorrectly. He kept apologising to him and berating me till Kevin himself stepped in and told the manager off. But like calmly and stuff like it’s no big deal and people make mistakes whatever and I kid you fucking not he apologised to me too and said I was doing a good job. He probably won’t know how much that meant to me after an already shitty as day but it did. I made sure to make him the best fucking cappuccinos
replied: I’ve met him in irl too and he is this!
-
I saw him sitting at a cafe with his daughter. Super nice. Asked him if I could get an autograph for my mom who’s a huge fan. He asked me some questions about her and wrote a really nice autograph, for her. His daughter stuck one of her stickers on there too and my mom loved that even more. I told him where she works (at a grocers) and he went out of his way to shop there the next day and made a point to look for her and chat. Great, great dude
replied: That is so fucking cool man. And your mom must’ve been so happy!
replied to a reply: She was over the moon! She loves his wife too! Apparently she was even chattier than Kevin haha
-
Met him at the airport. I was an employee and he had some TSA questions. Genuinely nice and friendly, chatted for about 15min. After he was set, we shook hands, he had his kids say thank you individually with a high five. Adorable. His wife was super nice and friendly too. Very good social interaction, would participate again

a domestic kevison bath fic coz why not. also on ao3
When he opens the door, Madison’s already on her second glass of wine and slightly lightheaded from her hot bath. She beams at him between sips, and he raises an eyebrow at her all amused.
“Having fun there?”
“You know it.”
Having spent most of the day helping the new hire go over the (what she thinks is ridiculously nasty for no reason than just is) permit processes for Pennsylvania housing, followed by an early call home after Natasha messaged about Franny being all feverish and fussy, by 8.00pm Madison was all but spent and wanted nothing more than to ease her sore body in a nice, hot bath.
She knows the twins can wake up at any moment. A cry from one will always sort out the other, but she figures she can take a little risk after the tiring yet successful few days she’s had. Big Three Homes is expanding faster than they could’ve ever imagined, and even if she has to don on a few hats to make sure everything’s running as smoothly as possible, she has no complaints whatsoever.
Madison watches Kevin open the medicine cabinet and rummage through it, but she knows that her husband doesn’t need anything beyond her attention because when left alone long enough, he can get a little needy like that.
“I know this is your me time, but any chance tonight can be an our time instead?” Kevin asks, proving her point.
“Well, I’m not going anywhere, Pearson, so unless you want to join me in here, this is going to stay a me time,” she replies, downing the last of her wine and suppressing the urge to laugh at how quickly Kevin begins to undress before sloshing in ungracefully to join her.
“Kev!”
He ignores her though, settling his head against her chest and moving his long limbs around so he can rest comfortably on top of her. Madison shivers, partly from the contact, but also from his movements, causing much of the hot water to spill over the edge.
“I’m cold,” she says, trying to reach the hot water tap with her feet but couldn’t, given the large, heavy body that she’s trapped under.
“I know, I can feel your nipp–ow!”
Kevin shifts so he can balance himself on his arms as he floats above her. “You pinched me!”
Madison laughs, pushing him back up so she can reach over to grab the towels, but Kevin’s too quick. He grabs her and she shrieks, turning her over so he can hold her close against him.
“You ruined my bath,” she accuses.
“Sorry,” he says.
“No, you’re not.”
“No, I’m not,” he says, with a laugh.
Still, she pulls his arms tighter against her and snuggles up against his warmth.
“London’s going to be cold,” he says after a while. “Do you think mom will be okay with the long travel?”
Madison knows just how much both Kevin and Miguel’s been fretting over the whole travelling despite Kevin making all the arrangements to make sure everyone and especially Rebecca flies as comfortably as possible.
“She’ll be okay,” Madison says for both of them. “Rebecca wouldn’t miss Kate’s wedding for anything.”
“No, no, she definitely wouldn’t.”
They linger in the bath and in each other’s warmth till the water’s cooled down enough and Kevin says, “London’s gonna be nice.”
“It will be,” Madison says, freeing her arms so she can grab their towels. Kevin throws his own over his shoulder and wraps Madison in hers.
“Nice enough to try again,” he says with a grin.
Madison frowns. “Nice enough to try for what?”
But Kevin’s already halfway out the bathroom door.
“Nice enough to try for what, Kevin Pearson!”

Okay I got boooored so here’s a Kevison magazine fic I wrote for Kevison nation coz I love yous and we deserve to see Kevin talk about his fam magazine-stylez coz you know he’ll be gushing all the time about them, like you just KNOW IT.
Kevin Pearson on life, fatherhood and what’s next for him by x March 2028, Spring edition
It’s been twelve years since the impassioned The Manny star Kevin Pearson announced to the world that he will be quitting the role that had started it all for him. Pearson’s public meltdown was excruciating, to say the least, but it was this very act of defiance that led the actor towards the path of the actor-crusader that he is now known for—a revolutionary who defied the odds and ultimately defined him as one of the greatest actors of his generation.
After a slew of tabloid-worthy dalliances with famous co-stars including the soap operatic love triangle with Tony award-winner Olivia Maine and his Back of an Egg co-producer and playwright Sloane Sandburg, to the court-ordered rehab stint after a DUI arrest, Kevin Pearson has done nothing but illicit the kind of stories that tabloids are desperate to display and monetise from in full view. All of these seemed the perfect pivot points for the actor, basking in the affordances of all this fame and fortune albeit in a trajectory of a complete career-destruction, but the actor was by no means deterred in proving that he can and should be taken seriously in his acting craft.
Pearson came through with striking, emboldened performances: a soldier with an inability to confront his demons in the Ron Howard-helmed World War II flick opposite Sylvester Stallone, and an embittered cop in the M Night Shyamalan action flick Stairs to Nowhere. But it wasn’t until his role as a disingenuous trial lawyer in the 2020 Jordan Martin Foster film Glass Eye that earned him his first ever Academy Award nomination and eventual win that proved to the world that when he puts his mind to it, Kevin Pearson can truly achieve the kind of acting greatness worth the lauded applause.
Pearson, who was born and raised in Pittsburgh before moving to New York and eventually Los Angeles, has spent a good amount of his life in the public eye. Though his sunny, easy-going persona and physicality have been compared to the likes of Chris Hemsworth and (supposed rival) Chris Evans, the Pittsburgh-bred Pearson doesn’t feel the need now to prove that he is anything but a conscientious actor and a dedicated family man.
It’s a warm, spring afternoon when I ring the buzzer of a sprawling floor-to-ceiling glass residence tucked away in a town in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The little lady of the house, barefoot in a floral-print dress, greets me with an encouraged wave from her father, who is cradling her against him upon opening the front door. “She’s not normally this shy,” Kevin says with an affectionate grin as he leads the way to the sitting room, his little girl curiously taking peeks at me with what I garner is her mother’s soft blue eyes given Kevin’s famous warm browns.
The newly built residence is a remarkably private house perched on a dramatic hillside overlooking a panoramic view of the verdant surrounds, which Kevin says, “keeps the family very safe from prying eyes.” This feature, of course, was at the forefront of his mind prior to laying its foundations there.
“There’s one main reason as to why I chose to build here specifically,” he says. “But I’m not gonna bore you with the details. Let’s just say, I’m honoring a memory. Makes me sound real poetic, doesn’t it?”
Throughout Kevin’s career, he’s been known to talk quite candidly about his love and appreciation for his mother, Rebecca Pearson, with his Oscars acceptance speech having heavily featured his immense gratitude to her as would a loving son. But, as we move along the elegantly furnished corridors with him pointing and elaborating at the various artworks decorating the walls and the spaces, it is obvious that Kevin has an unrivalled affection for his wife that is quite notably special.
We make our way to a sitting area outside where we are entreated to the sounds and sights of a naturally filtered swimming billabong with cascading falls—a modern feature incorporated with the Japanese Zen garden landscaping that is just breathtaking to behold in person. “I wanted to make it feel as authentic as the ones you find in Japan,” he says, sitting on one of the cushioned recliners. He pours me a glass of red wine while he settles for chilled tonic, his little girl now helping herself to some olives and crackers.
There is an air of rare contentment around Kevin as he laughingly recalls his twins’ daily shenanigans. “Nothing really compares to coming home to them,” he says. “And I’m not trying to sound ungrateful or anything, but I’ve been [working my whole life] and I’ve only had my wife and kids just short of a decade, and that’s nothing! So, I do what I can to be home in as most days of the year as I can.”
When asked whether he’s perhaps heading into the territory of acting retirement in favour of other pursuits like directing or producing, Kevin thinks it can go either way.
“The other night in bed my wife suggested I do voice acting,” he says, to which his little girl unintentionally responds to in glee as she, her feet now strapped in light-up sandals, runs the width of the garden (within sight of her dad, of course) with her Jessie and Bullseye dolls held high. “She knows me too well,” he says fondly of Madison, his wife of eight years now. “I’d love to have my kids watch a movie that dad’s in without having to wait till they’re teenagers. And I hate thinking of my babies as teenagers! God, it’s just the worst age!”
Kevin recalls his teenage years with the kind of accepted embarrassment fit for a 48-year-old, but he laughs saying, “But I see a little more of their mom in them than me so that gives me hope. I’d hate to think I passed on angsty teen Kevin to either one of them. Just serious kudos to my parents for putting up with me all those years. I must’ve been a nightmare.”
From endorsing the des Resistance popular eau de parfum for men to his Armani-clad behind splashed on every billboard in the country (much to his chagrin and to his wife’s entertainment), Kevin Pearson has always been quite the go-getter, and though his “yes man” days in the industry are over, he’s always open to other ways in which he can challenge himself in his craft without compromising the time spent with his family.
“They’re my first priority, no questions asked,” he says. For a kid, who grew up in a middle-class family with parents whom had high hopes for their future, Kevin says that now, as a father himself, his perspective has shifted as to what’s really important and what’s not.
“I think a lot of the time there’s an expectation for your kids to meet the standard their parents have set or even go beyond it,” he says. “But that’s just toxic, you know? And it puts a lot of pressure on them to be someone that they’re not and not meant to be.”
Kevin is candid about his insecurities as an actor and as a father and as a husband, but there is a masterful acceptance there that he gives full credit to his wife. “We’re not perfect people, perfect parents,” he says. “And we’ll never be. That’s just a fact of life. But getting to do this with your person, the love of your life makes the biggest difference. I used to think that my parents had the greatest love story ever, and I used to really idolise it, you know, but honestly I think Madison and I can probably rival that.” And he thinks that if he’ll ever write, direct or produce a script, it’ll be about him and his wife’s sweeping and unconventional love story that will be the “tear-jerker of the century. Like, A Walk to Remember or The Notebook level but like better!”
I ask him what Madison would think of his plans to unleash their love story to the world, and as if on cue, he fishes his phone from his pocket and utters a “just a sec” before leaving to grab his daughter and take the call.
Following his game-changing Academy Award win in 2021, Kevin had let himself free fall in the industry as a kind of versatile actor in roles where he sweeps you away with gut-punching monologue deliveries coupled with an intensity that comes in through the eyes. He hasn’t delved into comedy since his Manny days though, but there is a certain cajoling ease in his demeanour that could easily challenge his funny bone.
“It’s Madison,” he returns not long after and settles himself down again, his daughter handing me a pizza-shaped play-dough I pretend to munch on. “She’ll be home soon. You should meet her. You’d love her! Everyone does not that it’s surprising.”
And who could deny that offer?
Kevin shows me a photograph of the twins on his phone at their cousin’s birthday whom they celebrated with in California last week and qualms that they’re growing up way too fast—yet another reiteration that he is as doting of a father as he is a consummate actor. He thinks that though Hollywood is a lot less ageist in terms of film and TV roles, there is still that pressure not to succumb to filling a role just because you’re the right age for it.
“Ever since my kids were born, I’ve been approached to do a lot of dad roles. Like my agent would send me about five scripts a week where my character is supposed to be this stereotypical dad.  I’ve rarely taken any of them because I feel like it’s like they’re just trying to fit me in to a role just because I can say, ‘Oh hey, yeah I’m a dad now, I know what that means or what that looks like’, and not that that isn’t a good thing per se, but there’s a difference between the director wanting me to put my own spin to it as Kevin Pearson the actor versus them just wanting Kevin Pearson the dad. The way I approach parenting my kids, the way my wife and I do it, would be different to the way my character in this film would parent his kids. Sure, there may be certain overlaps, but it’s not going to be full Kevin Pearson the dad, you know? So, it’s hard with that kind of expectation.”
As the sun dips a little lower and it gets a little cooler, Kevin takes us back to the house just in time to finally meet Madison and their little boy, who looks strikingly like his father though, upon closer inspection, actually looks a little more like his mother. But there is one undeniable feature of the twins that definitely comes from both parents: the adorable identical dimples adorning their little chins.
Madison Pearson is as beautiful in person as she looks in photographs standing beside her husband in premieres and events. With her light-blue eyes and warm, soothing voice that sounds both delicate and excited at the same time, Madison is nothing but the embodiment of all things lovely.
“She grounds me,” he says adoringly, watching Madison and their kids flit about in the kitchen arranging dinner. “There isn’t much I can say that’s good about me if it hadn’t been for her. I can be ambitious and sometimes there’s always that pull towards something bigger but not necessarily better and she tells me honestly. She calls me out. And everyone needs that, you know? A frank person who won’t sugar coat anything, but they do it because they love you.”
It’s easy to imagine Kevin in gritty noir films playing bad cop, good cop or even as an intimidating trial lawyer, but Kevin as a family man is the role that is perfectly suited for him, almost like it’s created especially for him. As a father, he thrives on the affections of his kids, and as an actor, he finds pleasure in what’s he’s good at. And as a husband, his smile is the widest. “Not gonna lie, her not even being slightly jealous of that one time I did a love scene still gets to me,” he jokes. But it’s obvious that it bothers him not one bit. He enjoys being Madison Pearson’s more than anything.
“It’s crazy to think that people are inspired by what I do and who I am when for most of my life, it was 100% the other way around. It’s a huge responsibility, really, but I take it as it goes. I have my kids on the back of my mind now every time I make any decision, and I have a wife to love and support too, so it’s easier to not feel trapped by people’s opinions and expectations of you when you’re too focused on them and being the best person you can be for you and for them. So, it’s about growing every day, and enjoying all that life has to offer, and making every moment count.” x

another domestic kevison drabble but this time madison wants to shave his face lol. ao3
“Really? Just like that?”
Madison arches a perfectly sculpted brow at her husband, who looks at her reflection from their bathroom mirror like she’s the most amusing thing he’s ever seen in his life (she is).
“Why not?” he says with a shrug, grabbing the glass of water on the side to rinse his mouth. “I think it’s sexy.”
“You think everything’s sexy.”
“Everything you do is sexy.”
Madison laughs. Kevin turns to her, his grin now replaced with something more suggestive, teasing. Madison can feel just how much fun he’s having with her right now, asking him for the one thing she’s always been curious to do but never had the courage nor the intimacy to pull off.
“You’re gonna have to bend down,” she says. “You’re too tall.”
“I’ve got a better idea,” Kevin says, and before she can even think of protesting, Kevin lifts her up so she’s sitting on the bathroom vanity, her bare feet brushing against the cabinets beneath her.
“God, Kev, a little warning, please,” she says without heat. Her eyes are bright, excited. She obviously isn’t too bothered by her husband’s ease of lifting her to sit on places she shouldn’t be sitting on.
Kevin leans forward, his arms winding around her to grab the razor and the shaving cream by the sink.
“I can’t believe that shaving a man’s face is in your bucket list,” he says, shaking his head. “I feel like the more you tell me what’s in it, the less I think it’s actually a bucket list.”
“Hey,” she says, pulling his face closer to hers. “You’ve got yours and I’ve got mine. No judging.”
“You know I’m not,” Kevin says with a laugh, leaning forward so he can rest his forehead on hers. Madison pushes him back a little so she can actually get to shaving his face, but Kevin’s wildly entertained at what’s to come and he watches her, beyond amused now as he hands her the tools, her eyes brightening in pure excitement.
The utter euphoria on Madison’s face has him wanting to abandon the activity altogether so he can carry her to their bed and have his way with her, but he knows his wife won’t forgive him for getting her hopes up about shaving his face only to not deliver in the end. And he is never good at disappointing her.
“Don’t ruin my face,” he says, brown eyes warm. “Think of the twins’ tuition fees.”
Madison arches backwards to tie her hair up into a messy bun, ensuring that no stray wisps of hair will interfere with her line of sight. Then she places her hands on his shoulders and guides him to stand just between her legs, seemingly nonchalant of the provocative position. Gently tugging his face closer to hers, she dispenses some of the shaving cream into her small hands and proceeds to draw a moustache on his face with it.
“Oh, dear god,” Kevin says as Madison throws her head back in laughter. Kevin softly pinches her sides, making her laugh even harder before pushing him back with a promise to behave.
Kevin can’t deny how beautiful she looks. Cheeks warm, eyes bright, all happy. All his.
Madison smooths over the artistic perfection of his foam facial hair before grabbing the razor and tracing along the sides of his jaw and his mouth. The bathroom’s silent, save for the sounds of her dipping the razor in a cup of water to rinse it.
Kevin’s hands, unbidden, slide around her waist and Madison glances up at him briefly before she turns his face the other direction, careful not to nick his skin as she unveils more and more smooth flesh.
“Okay, don’t kill me,” she says after finishing, “but I don’t know if I actually like you without facial hair.”
Kevin turns to her, mouth open in shock.
“You tell me this now? After you’ve already done half my face?”
Madison runs her hand across his smoothed-out cheek.
"I mean, I’ll still love you without it," she breathes, suddenly painfully aware of Kevin’s fingers skimming under the edge of her top, gently rubbing her skin. “But maybe like just a fraction less.”
“Wow, wow. I don’t know how to feel about that.”
“I said I’ll still love you,” she retorts, legs winding around him as much as possible to pull him closer, not that he hasn’t already taken a few steps towards her, his peppermint fresh breath now mingling with hers.
Madison cleans off the last of his stubble just as the hand that was slipping under her shirt is suddenly down by her butt and over her lace shorts that she wears to sleep as Kevin tugs her to him.
“All done,” she says, a bright smile on her face as she admires her handiwork. Kevin leans to the side to check his face out in the mirror.
“Not bad,” he says, impressed. He catches her smiling at him, and he leans forward to nuzzle her cheek, loving the feel of her smooth skin against his. Madison wounds her arms around his neck, fingers drumming over his spine.
She hears him sigh deeply as she works her fingers over the coiled knots in his shoulder. “Downside though is the kids may not recognise you.”
“What do you mean?” he mumbles, lips brushing her neck with every word.
“There was this TikTok video of this dad who shaved all his facial hair off, and I kid you not, Kev, his daughter cried so hard when she saw him thinking he was a random stranger or something.”
Kevin lifts his face off her neck and gapes at her.
“I don’t want our kids to be scared of me, babe!”
“I mean, you don’t know if they’ll actually not recognise you. It’s not like you had a beard or anything.”
Kevin is so lost at the thought of his children crying and running away from him that it’s practically reflex when he picks Madison up from the counter and carries her back to their bedroom.
“You think I can pull of a beard?” he asks as he tosses his laughing wife on the bed.
“Maybe even a moustache,” she agrees.
Kevin tosses his shirt somewhere in the room and crawls over till he’s hovering just above her.
“Done,” he says, leaning forward to nuzzle his smooth face over hers. “Then maybe in a few years you can shave that off too.”
“The kids will definitely not recognise you then.”
“Honey.”

it’s not weak if you need to be held, ch.6
Fandom: This Is Us
Pairing: Kevin Pearson/Madison Simons
Tags: Unplanned pregnancy; strangers to lovers; body issues and references to addiction
Summary: But, Madison figures, if she’d had more time to think about it, she would have imagined a scene like something from a movie she could so perfectly picture Kevin in, maybe slipping an envelope at him with baby pictures inside across a table at a coffee shop like she’s a private detective or from the Irish mob. Maybe it’d even be raining.

"How is she doing?" Kate asks. "Not too nervous about Mom? What about you?"
Kevin leans his elbows against the railing. "She's good, I think. She got pretty nauseous on the plane so she's taking a bath right now. Her suitcase weighs a ton which makes me think she brought her entire wardrobe."
Kate chuckles. Behind her he can hear Jack giggling. "That's Madison. She has a perfect outfit for every situation. Can't be easy, choosing what to wear for that kind of announcement. What are you wearing?"
Kevin looks down at his t-shirt and jeans. He hadn't planned on changing. "What am I supposed to wear? We're just going to dinner with Mom and Miguel."
Even over the phone he can hear Kate rolling her eyes. "Madison is four months pregnant with your giant babies and still I know she'll come out of that bathroom looking more like a movie star than you ever did. So the least you can do is put on a jacket, Kev."
"Okay, okay," Kevin admits defeat, going back inside and opening his suitcase. He did bring a somewhat classy outfit for brunch. "I have that jacket I wore - you know, at that party I took you and Toby?"
"Yeah, because I really use the space in my brain to file all the outfits you ever wore," Kate sighs. "Just wear a damn jacket and tell her she looks great. She needs the support."
Kevin knows that. He also doesn't believe that he'll ever have to force himself to think Madison looks great - she's even more gorgeous now, even if she doesn't believe it. "Any other wise advice?"
"Don't tell Mom about how you got Madison pregnant, the whole upside down thing? No one needs that visual," Kate rambles, embellishing a gag.

"You sure you don't want to come with us, Uncle Nicky?" Kevin asks one last time as he helps Madison into a thicker jacket, zipping it up to her chin like she's a child. If it weren't so sweet Madison would almost feel offended that he's adding more clothes instead of trying to shed them.
Not that she wants him to. Well - she wouldn't exactly be opposed to the idea, even if she's not a hundred percent comfortable with it, more like, maybe forty percent considering the extra curves and the stretch marks on her belly, but mostly it's the constant nausea that makes Madison consider the whole sex thing a definite no at the moment. And there's no way she's letting Kevin take her clothes off which would sort of impede the whole thing. Sex is enough of a mess already, it might just be the worst time to think about it.
Nicky vigorously shakes his head. "So I can watch you kids making out in the woods like a couple of horny teenagers? Hell no."
He can't read her mind, can he? "Maybe he's going to try and butcher me," Madison suggests. "That'd be unexpected."

Hannah comes back with their order, leaving the whipped cream can for Madison who feels infinitely grateful. Kevin puts a dollop in his coffee then adds a lot more on top of her pancake pile. He studies her with amused eyes as she forks another bite into her mouth; his thumb is feather-light soft as it sweeps over her upper lip, brushing some whipped cream off.
Madison sits still; she blinks slowly once, twice, as their eyes lock. Now that the rush of adrenaline from the night is slowly wearing off, it feels odd again, his touching, the way he looks at her with those tender eyes. The memory of his lips still makes her own tingle; there was the kiss from the night before, soft and coaxing and impulsive all at once, and then all the kisses that followed, gentle and comforting, but beneath all that, underneath the obvious need to reassure and soothe, Madison can't pretend there wasn't something else.
When Kevin kissed her last night, it wasn't out of worry or urgency - and she didn't kiss him back because they were lonely and seeking comfort in each other. She kissed him back because she'd wanted to, wanted to feel that rush again, the way her body hums to life when he touches her, how it seems to respond to his without conscious thought. It's crazy, really; if anyone had asked her a year ago what she thought of Kevin, she probably would have said that it was a shame, really, how hot he looked for such an ass.

Kevin rolls his eyes. "Uncle Nicky, this is Madison. Madison, this is my uncle."
She beams at Nicky with that warm, sweet smile of hers, like he's her favorite person and she's so happy to see him even though he's a total stranger to her. "We're not getting married any time soon, we haven't even been on a date yet," she tells him seriously. "It's very nice to meet you," Madison adds kindly, reaching out to shake his hand. Kevin's almost surprised that she didn't launch into a big hug.
Nicky seems a bit unsettled by her warm greeting, but he smiles back at her, gently patting her arm. "Trust me, the pleasure is all mine, sweetheart," Nicky chuckles, pulling up a chair for her. "Come on, you get the good chair."
Who knew his uncle could be so smooth? Kevin stares at him, bewildered. "Wait, she gets sweetheart when I, your own nephew, your flesh and blood, got Hollywood douchebag?" Kevin whines loudly. "That's so not fair."
Nicky shrugs, then waves at Madison. "I mean, look at her."
Madison turns to him, grinning. "Yeah, look at me, Kevin," she teases him. "I'm adorable. Pearson men can't resist me."

Miguel smiles at him warmly. "Now, can you actually work on these carrots? I'm trying to feed your girl here."
Kevin bumps him with his elbow. "Not my girl."
Miguel grins, then turns to the living-room. "Hey, Madison," he calls out. "How hungry are you?"
Madison looks up from Rebecca's iPad, then sniffs the air. "Are you making your spicy curry leek and carrot quiche?" she beams. "If so, I'm ravenous."
Miguel nods at her, grinning, too. "I remember how much you liked it. I'm adding chicken this time. Dinner should be ready in half an hour if your boy there speeds up on these carrots."
Madison turns to Kevin, eyes widening. "Well, what are you waiting for?" she urges him. "We're hungry here, and there's only so many pictures of your nieces I can watch before starting to think I had sex with the wrong brother, right?"
Kevin watches in horror as Madison bumps his mother with her elbow like they're girlfriends gossiping about their sex lives.
