Ranting in DMs with friends about Eddie Diaz, as one does, and honestly the last couple episodes also so deeply reframe all of Helena's past attempts to prevent Eddie from moving to Los Angeles and then trying to get him to move back after Shannon's death. That woman does not love her son. She doesn't want him near her. She wants Christopher. It was always about Chris. It's not even the bare minimum "I want you back home near us so I can control you and give you advice and tell you what to do and you should be Home with your Family." If Eddie had left for LA on his own without Chris all those years ago she would've been happy. It was Eddie taking Chris with him that was upsetting.

That woman does not fucking love her son.

when eddie comes out to his family, ramon instantly makes it his mission to see him be happy and tries to set him up with all the nice mexican boys he knows (he's retired now he has the time) and he gets tia pepa on the case as well :) eddie cannot go to a single family gathering without his dad and aunt pulling out a long list of eligible bachelors for him to pick from and while he grumbles over it it secretly makes him feel so, so warm inside

listen, i absolutely get ramon not wanting to talk to sunny & feeling hurt/betrayed by her helping tubbo

like, i'd hazard he might even feel more betrayed by them than tubbo himself—bc sunny & ramon probably talked about what family meant to him (during their sleepovers or something) and ramon has no insight into why they'd do that whereas tubbo, for all his actions have hurt ramon, very clearly has the emotional capacity of a wet paper plate and issues running deeper than marianas trench

but that makes it all the more heart wrenching that he won't hear her out (and you can see in the backgrounds of vods her multiple attempts over several days to get his attention just to be rebuffed) bc i bet if she could explain herself even a little things could be so different

it reminds of the situation from the other week where sunny wasn't talking with em and tubbo tried to explain that, even if you're mad at them, suddenly stopping talking to someone you love could make them feel awful and worse than you intended

and that is what's happening to sunny. it's miserable to see bc she was already so isolated and ramon, as her big brother, is someone she put a lot of trust in to be there for her and listen to her and it must feel to her like that was an empty promise to have him not even hearing her out.

and it's particularly tragic bc sunny didn't even want to mess with fit and pac. yes, she was "tempted" to aid tubbo in his quest, but I really don't think it was bc she was actually worried about being left behind when she agreed. i think she could tell tubbo was scared and hurting and not ready to accept the change and didn't want him to be alone. she didn't really have another option and every adult can see that but ramon is young and blinded by his hurt

and now sunny is left feeling abandoned and forgotten and replaced and it's exactly what their pa said would happen; self fulfilling prophecy :(

Eggs!! I know it's super late but I'm finally getting around to drawing their refs! Here's who I have so far!

From top to bottom its Bobby, Tilín, JuanaFlippa, Ramón, and Nacho!

Under cut is my list of Refs and a few facts! We have refs split between @its-fucking-draggo and i

Bobby has an Asian leaning Physiology due to Jaiden

Roier has sleepy venom so Bobby's wing claw can inject a similar venom

Red and Blue color scheme is prevalent in Roier's design but the Blue with hints of Purple relate to also Jaiden's!

Tilín has a Mexican appearance due to spending so much time with Quackity

Brown/gold wings are from Q and Wil due to Wilbur having Great horned owl wings(mainly brown) and Q having Pekin duckling wings(bright yellow)

Webbing is somewhat like a Bat's but that's just design choice

JuanaFlippa is a goopy gal because she hangs out with Slime most

Mariana shows through more in her clothing choices, she loves them both but Slime has more influence

Ramón has a gator like tail because Fit is a gator hybrid!

I tried to incorporate white with red and gold accents but it felt too blank so I make the main color a nice brown with more parchment like Off-white

OK SO THE FUN ONE: Nacho is egg of ElQ and Doied who idolizes Cucurucho

They have paws, nose and pale colors due to Cucurucho

I imagine they're either Indonesian or Hawaiian because "Enjoy the Island" insinuates the Federation is literally on a chain of Islands

Light blue marks is from ElQs Mallard Duck wings with the iridescent Blue stripe

Lime centipede tail comes from Doied because he's a dark green Centipede

They wear a mask to be just like their Idol!

Yes -Nonnie - but I hadn’t seen the Eddie in just a suit when I posted my other post.

My thoughts keep getting revised because more stuff gets dropped!!

So it’s likely now that he’s back for the funeral (making it more likely it’s Bobby 😭😭😭) and they’ll likely edit the 270 truck in post to look like an LA truck.

I’ve been saying for a while that I thought we were going to get a Ramon heart attack storyline pop up to help with Eddie’s queer arc - I’m feeling more and more that this is likely - but that we’re going to get a blood father v father figure plot - which will allow Eddie to actually look at his heart and what he wants and make a choice for himself - helping Eddie get reconnected with Chris and get them back to LA but also let Eddie complete the rebuilding of himself. Of course Ramon will likely live if this is the plot they are doing - because he’s a representation of Ramons heart - so he has to live in order for Eddie to be able to move forwards.

Bobbys death would then play into building a future on his own terms etc - away from blood family and Eddie going back to the family he chose.

But I’ll probably have to revise my theory 50 more times as we get more bts!!

This was a nice full-circle/little synchronicity in my first playthrough:

earlier this year i watched a new Netflix show called Kaos purely because Ramon Tikaram (Dorian’s voice actor) was in it. (I actually ended up loving the show, which naturally meant it got cancelled almost immediately.) His character was called Charon.

Later, in Veilguard I discovered a letter from Mae to Dorian, suggesting he visit an influential soporati (non-mage) military officer, (presumably) Shadow Dragon Rook’s father … Charon Mercar.
