Dear best friend,
𝟭𝟭 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀. It’s been 11 months since I lost you. Suicide is such a horrible thing to cope with, because it’s preventable. If people could get the 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 they need to proper mental healthcare, maybe things would have been different. You called me that night. I asked if you were good, and you told me you were great, you just wanted to chat for a second. You’d always 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗲 if you weren’t okay. But you were great. So I told you I’d call you as soon as I got done taking my dog for a walk. … I forgot to call you back. It happened less than 2 hours after I told you I’d call you back. You should have 𝗧𝗢𝗟𝗗 me. Like you always did, all those times before when I’d head straight to your house and let you let it all out. I struggle with that so much, because I know I could have helped you that night, if I had known. I know I could’ve talked you down because I had before.
𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘮𝘦? I would’ve dropped everything. You might still be here. I wouldn’t be having to send these unanswered texts to a phone that’s probably not even in service anymore. I wouldn’t be hanging out with you at your grave instead of at your house. In these 11 months, there have been so many times I reached to call you, to tell you something exciting or funny, or to break down myself.
But I can’t hear your voice anymore. You’ll never again tell me that everything is going to be okay. You’ll never make me laugh until I cry again. And I hate it. I hate it with every fiber of my being that I can’t hear your voice again in this life. I don’t want to wait 50 years down the road to see you again.
I ask myself so many questions. But the main question I ask myself is 𝘸𝘩𝘺. Why did you leave? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not angry. I could never be angry with you. I’ve tried. It’s not in me. Because in our 10 years of best friendship, I have never been mad or angry with you. You made that impossible. I’m a lot to handle sometimes, and yet you always knew exactly what to do to make me love you and forget about everything else.
I ask myself why again, why the mental healthcare system in our country failed you. Because it failed you so bad. You put your life on the line every single time you put that police uniform on, you’ve seen things and witnessed things on the job that 𝗡𝗢 𝗢𝗡𝗘 should ever have to be exposed to. So why could our country not give you a little bit back and help you when you needed help the most? I could talk all day about how fucked up our system is, but if I could do one thing with my life, I’d help those in the military, law enforcement, and first responders get access to the mental healthcare they so desperately need.
I don’t really know why I’m typing all of this out, because someone else has your number now, but I had to get it out of my brain somehow, at least for a few minutes. I think about you every day. I miss you every day. I love you every day. I wish you were here.
Love,
T💗

Supernatural Cops
The fandom has come to the conclusion that all kinds of supernatural or unusual things happen in Amity Park and people take it like any other Tuesday.
Still, I wouldn't be surprised if this place is the only place in the country (not to say the world) that has a police division in charge of handling Cults…
Yes, in Amity Park there is a group of police (not to say half of all the police in the city) that are dedicated to controlling cults and their peculiarities, because we must remember that, despite the reputation of being a tourist trap, this town in the middle of nowhere has the reputation of being the most haunted place in the country (or the world), so it wouldn't be crazy to say that on certain dates of the year many "tourists" (cough cultists cough) arrive who come in order to do "events" (cough rites cough), so whether they want it or not, someone has to control that the limits on how they are "celebrating" are not broken… and to top it off, the limits of what the city considers acceptable is a greater margin than other places, so it has become common for some groups to come back later.
So yes, Amity Park has one of the most effective police departments in dealing with cults and supernatural beliefs, not only are they effective in identifying participants, most of the time they know what kind of cultist they are dealing with, whether they are just playing a game or are the real magic business and how dangerous/troublesome they will be in the end.
What's more, this group is so good at what they do, that many times the inhabitants of Amity Park prefer to call them instead of the GIW (they are too destructive and there is still no 100% reliable insurance that will pay for the damages they cause), when it comes to a problem with a ghost and the ghost child is not around.
and that competition is more noticeable when other cities in the country begin to ask for help with some unknown cults that are appearing rap

there's just... there is no reason to make yet another cop show in this day and age. copaganda is not only bullshit, it is a failure of imagination.
you want to watch brooding characters with dark pasts investigate crimes in an official capacity? just use private detectives (cops have a miserable solve rate anyway). want eccentric geniuses & their sidekicks solving mysteries? i present you with armchair detectives & neighborhood busybodies. oh, you're craving a workplace comedy-drama starring overworked protagonists doing their heartfelt best to resolve community conflicts? social worker office sitcom! bitch this is ACHIEVABLE

one of the funniest news things in canada that always tickles me is the ongoing war between magic mushroom shops and the police.

this beautiful morn on god's green earth is as good a day as any to weed out the people who were just following me here for "uwu Somft Huggable Squishy" art (my art of plus size bodies), but don't actually care about fat people, as people, and feel personally offended the SECOND we vocalize frustration abt the fatphobia we experience.

I was so caught up in the gender euphoria that is Martin Blackwood that for a moment, I forgot that I lived in a world where bras and skirts were "female-coded"

ok I'm not an expert but I'm not seeing much specific info going around here, and there's a lotta Palestine solidarity protests in the UK this weekend, so here is some (including UK-specific) protest info and resources (mostly pulled whole-cloth from Twitter)
policing is heavy at Palestine protests generally
Hamas is a proscribed org under UK law. that means "inviting support" for them or "wearing clothing or displaying articles" that implies you are a supporter is a criminal offence (if you're interested, here's the full list of criminal offences from gov.uk). Palestinian flags etc are ok*, but do not have something that could be mistaken for Hamas imagery. don't go out there looking for convictions pls.
*in spite of what Suella Braverman has implied, the London Muslim Community Forum has just confirmed that the Palestinian flag is not a proscribed flag and is not banned (apologies for quoting the "we advise the met police" group but I thought it was important to have that info explicitly)
don't talk to cops. that includes the police liasion officers in blue bibs.
particularly if you're concerned about your face ending up on social media etc, but also just good practice in general (both in terms of COVID and protest safety)—mask up. cover up tattoos etc.
have bustcards or contact details for protest legal support on you. Green and Black Cross can be contacted on 07946 541 511. write the number on your arm etc.
if you witness an arrest: check if there's a legal observer nearby and if so call them over; if not: if the arrestee doesn't have a bustcard, give them one, find out where they're being taken, and contact eg GBC or a protest support line
if you have the time and can help out, there will likely be arrestee support required after—GBC tend to post callouts on Twitter for this
other links
for particularly children and young people and their families being referred to PREVENT for pro-Palestine statements, contact PREVENTWatch and maybe also Palestine in School (newer initiative I think, I don't have an excessive amount of detail on them just FYI)
Liberty, Migrants Organise and Black Protest Legal Support have bustcards in different languages, including Arabic and Somali (also Liberty's website has lotsa useful info, including advice for disabled protesters, protesting and immigration status, and what to do if you're kettled)
GBC's thread on what to do if you see an arrest is useful, as are all their resources generally
if I've missed anything or made a mistake, lmk—as I said, I am very much not an expert. if you know people who are protesting, pass them the legal support line numbers; if you're attending, stay safe and be vigilant; and ofc carry water.
