The "Black cats are unlucky" factoid is actually just statistical error. The average black cat is perfectly lucky. HP Lovecraft's cat, to have been named as it was, was a statistical outlier and should not have been counted.

genuinely wild to me when I go to someone's house and we watch TV or listen to music or something and there are ads. I haven't seen an ad in my home since 2005. what do you mean you haven't set up multiple layers of digital infrastructure to banish corporate messaging to oblivion before it manifests? listen, this is important. this is the 21st century version of carving sigils on the wall to deny entry to demons or wearing bells to ward off the Unseelie. come on give me your router admin password and I'll show you how to cast a protective spell of Get Thee Tae Fuck, Capital

Did I miss something, or are political assassinations just... not a point of discussion anymore? Someone gives Trump an impromptu ear piercing - it gets talked about for maybe a day. Multiple Minnesota politicians are attacked, and two killed, by a right-wing Christian extremist. And it seems to get mentioned less than the mayoral race in New York. It's not that I want more sensationalized coverage, but aren't these genuinely shocking events? Just because the political climate makes us less surprised to see violence doesn't make it less of a big-ass deal when it happens. I'm concerned we're shrugging the Overton window along.

[Robot chicken girl voice] THIS is "Several David Bowies stacked on top of each other" and THIS is "as wide as they are tall with tits to match".
They're 💖🌸✨*married*🌸✨💖
I wouldn't be as much bothered by the "how to dress right for your body type! :)" guides if they didn't presume to know what people want to look like. Ok you've got a guide on how to minimise one's most distinct features, one for every body type. But what if someone who's naturally long and gangly wants to emphasise how much they look like several David Bowies stacked on top of each other, or someone who's short and round wants to make sure that everyone is aware that she's as wide as she is tall with tits to match?

On the list of things-that-bother-me-but-probably-shouldn't, I've had introverted/neurodivergent friends and partners say things along the lines of "humanity sucks/I hate everyone (but I like you)" and it just... never sits right with me. I'm not comfortable with the idea that most people aren't worthy even if you've (somehow?) decided I am. I know what they're trying to say is "you're special" but it feels like "I'd prefer to keep hating people, so I've decided you don't count as one". I've struggled for years with the feeling disconnected from others and like I don't fit in, so I don't really take it as a compliment when people say "you're just different", even if it's meant as a compliment.

TBT the time I tried to explain this to my mom who doesn't have a firm grasp on pokemon and digimon:
Me: so, imagine he'd asked them for their favourite Muppet and they said Bugs Bunny
Mum: 😮 no!

Making a shitty one-page RPG called Oh Shit It’s the Killer. The premise is simple: you’re a high schooler spending the weekend in the woods with your besties. The Killer is there also. He is trying to the Kill you
