Brief Backstory:

Before Facsimile showed an interest in music, she was a promising journalist. Since youth, she has been attentive to reporting the exciting events and people in Cloudbank. Her articles were both well-known and well received. Her article structure boasted a 91% approval rate despite being a novitiate journalist. However, that all changed after being assigned to attend and report on one of Red’s concerts. During her performance, Facsimile was entranced by Red. The music, the message, the aesthetic all pulled Facsimile in. It was the beginning of an obsession that would alter Facsimile’s life.

It started small, she would listen to Red’s music generously during her free time. She focused less on writing articles and more on singing and music composition. As her obsession with music grew, she switched her career interest to reflect that. While she did attend other concerts, she held Red on a pedestal she could offer no other. Soon, Facsimile’s admiration took a turn as she strived to be closer to her idol. She cut her hair short and dyed it to be similar to Red’s. Facsimile used her knowledge of writing as a cornerstone of her music. She could admit that her voice may not be as marvelous as Red’s was, but her music still grew in popularity. Since she was already known thanks to her popularity as a journalist, she already had some backers. It also helped that her secretary, Elias Glenwood, was a persuasive man. He got her concerts, solos, and exclusive classes using his own influence in the entertainment industry.

Despite all this, she never seemed to catch up to Red. The Camerata saw her as a lesser quality copy of Red. They saw no need to seek out someone who was inspired by Red, whom they already set their sights on. Facsimile had inspirational music but not to the impact that Red did.

 Short Story of Facsimile During the Process:

Facsimile was in her apartment in the Highrise District. After she had heard Red lived here, she had asked Elias to find her any available unit. She was busy composing a new song; one she thought would boost her popularity and finally make Red notice her admiration. Or, perhaps, see her as a rival. She didn’t particularly mind either of those choices. It was then that a broadcast interrupted her train of thought. It was a call for evacuation. Facsimile didn’t rush. She couldn’t remember the last evacuation, and if she took the time to try to recall one, it wasn’t very important. She makes her way down to the lobby’s terminal to check the news as she made her way out.

Facsimile felt shell-shocked at what she read. There was trouble at Red’s latest concert?! This was the one night she decided to stay in, because inspiration for a new song had finally struck her. She grips the side of the terminal’s screen as she skimmed the article. Red is currently missing. Her whereabouts unknown. Facsimile felt as though she was going to faint. She contacted Elias, “Elias!” Facsimile yells as she adjusts her bag, ready to make her way to the venue. His modulated voice comes through the electric fuzz, cutting off every once and awhile. “What’s wrong—” crackle “dearie?” Facsimile could tell her secretary was in a crowded area. He was likely evacuating with the rest of Cloudbank.

“Change of plans.” She replies harshly, “Meet me with the car at the venue Red was performing at.” The name of the place had slipped her mind with all of the excitement.

“What—” bzzzt! “I’m stuck—in a crowd—” … “will take a bit.” The interference between them grew, as did the anxiety Facsimile fostered in her chest. She nods as though he could hear her and then hangs up. There was a crowd of other people leaving the apartments as well, slowing her progress. She pushes her way through and stops near a covered area. She had barely made any progress and was already exhausted.

She tucks a lock of red hair behind her ear as she begins to proceed. She had an ominous feeling in the pit of her stomach as she was making her way out of the Highrise District. It felt like she was being watched. She cautiously continues. As she was on the brink of Highrise, she notices something strange. There was a long white… thing sprouting from the ground. It wriggles as a blue aura briefly surrounds it. It’s red eye follows Facsimile’s movement. More sprout around it, they watch her as she quickly passes by them. Facsimile didn’t dare wander too close. The city of Cloudbank became more ominous as facsimile made her way deeper in. She wondered how far Elias was, if he had even gotten out of the crowd. As she passed underneath an archway, the path behind her began building skyward with white blocks, obstructing the way she came. However, the thought of being trapped was quickly pushed from her mind as she saw a large poster of Red. Some candles were lit underneath along with flowers laid out. She approaches the tribute, her heart racing. Where is Red? Facsimile stares at the poster for a short while. She heard some movement behind her. More of the Process was building, but this time it looked like something alive was in there. It had a circular head with a big red eye in the middle. It’s body was small and triangular. It began to dash around as soon as it had spawned. Facsimile cringed and slipped away silently. What was going on?

Upon finding herself alone, Facsimile takes a quick breather. She activates the area’s terminal and tries to figure out what’s going on. The news headline makes her heart plummet. Red, 27, Mourned as 'Process' Toll Climbs it read. Was she really dead? Facsimile rubs her arms and pulls her jacket tighter around herself. She was cold. She was tired. She was worried. That’s when she noticed something odd. A familiar car was stopped in the area beyond her. The process was building around its wheels. The car was almost blurry. She squints at it and makes her way over. Facsimile peers into the car’s tinted windows, and gasps when she sees Elias unconscious in the driver’s seat. She pulls at the door handle, but it wouldn’t budge. She bangs on the window, hoping he would hear her, “Elias!” she shouts. But the secretary didn’t budge. Facsimile looks around frantically and runs to a small scenic garden that was nearby. She pulls up one of the stepping stones and makes her way back to the car. Using all the force she could muster, Facsimile bashes in the window. It cracks and shatters on her second swing. She drops the stone in surprise. Elias’ once tan complexion was a ghostly white. His breathing was shallow, and the Process was slowly making it’s way up his body. “Elias!” At the sound of her voice, her dear friend opens his eyes. However, it looked as though he were no longer there.

Warbled speech.

Facsimile couldn’t tell what he was saying. He speaks again, and she caught the word “—Red-“. She puts a hand on his shoulder but doesn’t say anything. What was she supposed to do for someone in this state? She began to hum parts of the song she was working on. It felt as though she did it to comfort herself than to comfort him. When Elias ceased talking, and the process seemed to take a firmer hold of him, Facsimile left.

She continued to wander on for some time. Her body felt as though it were about to give out as she continued to drag her feet. Everything around her was swallowed up by the Process. Even her own skin looked as though it had taken on the pallor color of the Process. She takes a closer look at her surroundings. It looked like the Empty Set. Facsimile makes a small, absentminded smile. She remembers when Red performed here. She was as amazing as always. Facsimile leans against the white wall, and slides down to the ground. Just a short rest… Then I’ll begin my search again. She thinks to herself, as she closes her eyes and lays down on her side.

When next she opened her eyes, she found she couldn’t muster the strength to move. Her speech came out incomprehensible. She stayed like that for a while, looking out at the Empty Set. The Process slowly sipped at her life force. A gentle snow begins to drift down. She couldn’t feel the cold air anymore. Despite her situation, Facsimile still thought it looked beautiful. The snow drifts around her.

Facsimile closes her eyes once again.

  Function

Copy() is Facsimile’s trace function if she were absorbed into the Transistor. It is a mid-range attack that copies an aspect of the enemy it’s being used on. For example, when using Copy() on a Jerk, the wielder of the Transistor would gain the ability to create shockwaves where they walk.

Active Slot Effect: Copies a trait of an enemy it is used on.

Base Damage: 30

Copy Duration: 5 - 10 seconds

Turn() Planning Cost: 25

Upgrade Slot Effect: Adds a ghost effect with 20% damage of the active function.

Passive Slot Effect: Decreases a function’s Turn() cost by 5% if used 2 or more times in one turn.

VALORANT Secret Santa Interest Check!

Good timezone, everyone! with October nearly being halfway over, I thought it’d be a good time to revisit the interest check for a VALORANT fandom Secret Santa event. I did post a poll several months ago, but that was a while ago, and I know way more people in the community now than I did back then. 

So what is VALORANT Secret Santa?:

Secret Santa is an event around the holiday season where you are randomly assigned a fellow participant to create an art piece or fic based off of their wishlists or requests. I have previously participated in this event for other fandoms such as the Bravely Default series (JRPG) and the Supergiant Games series. It’s meant to be a fun time to meet new friends, interact with others in the fandom, and create fun work as you share the holiday spirit! The general concept for the plan would be to open applications from within the next week to November 1st. This would give you all of November and more than half of December to complete your gift. Your gift will be due and expected to be posted or sent to your receiver between December 24th-January 1st. 

Please note that right now, there are no plans to include NSFW works so this will be open to minors as well--so keep your prompts and projects appropriate for all! A seperate Secret Santa for NSFW works might happen too, but that is a huge might. 

The event hasn’t been finalized yet. This post is for the Interest Check! If enough people fill it out, I may advance further to holding Moderator applications and then proper participant applications. You can check out the Google Form to it by clicking here!
