If you asked Lendel why he was deep within The Glade Of Lu, currently trying to commence a Rite against The Chastity despite their being no stars to guide them, he could not tell you.

The Chastity was run by H. Manley Tinderstauf, and Lendel had met him enough times to know that the Sap was as desperate to get back into the Commonwealth as he was. It only made sense that now, with the supposed end of the Rites, the two most passionate to return would team up and find a way back into the land above.

“Honestly Lendel, I think this will not work.” Manley’s pompous accent drifted across the field, cutting through the silence. When the Rites occurred, petals would drift through The Glade of Lu, as if Sclorian was watching them all. Now though, there was no breeze to carry them; a sign that it truly was done. “Our best choice is to retire to Cinderroot and find another way for my family to aid us.”

Lendel clenched his fists. “The Rites cannot be over,” he growled, looking reflexively to the rest of his Triumvirate, only to see nobody accompanying. They had abandoned him when his denial of the Rites ending had overtaken all rational thought. The Stars were dead, as were their chances of leaving, yet Lendel refused to accept it. It left him as the only member of the Accusers. “There must be a way back. The Eight Scribes would not abandon us.”

Manley sighed. “And yet they have,” was all he could say. Beside him stood the remaining two members of his Triumvirate, a Nomad and Harp who most likely were going to leave him alone if he spoke once more about his “high influences within Commonwealth Government”. He flicked through the Book of Rites, scanning the pages carefully, while Lendel kept his eyes on the sky, praying for the Celestial Orb to descend and commence the Rite.

“There’s nothing here about Rites ending, or recommencing,” Manley announced after some time, having studied each page with the utmost care. He had learned to read in secret, due to the Commonwealth ban on literacy, but unlike the others who had been cast down, he had enough money to pay off anyone who found out about it. “It seems as if those blasted Nightwings truly did take the last chance to leave. We shall not see the Rites again, at least not in our lifetime. I think it best if-”

Lendel’s mask hit the dirt with such force that the bone it had been carved from splintered and cracked, taking a chunk out of the top corner. Manley flinched, watching such an important part of the ancient Rites be destroyed so carelessly. “I cannot be stuck here. I cannot!” Lendel was clutching his head, teeth grit in anger. “I refuse!”

“Perhaps there is another way. Let us return to Cinderroot,” came the gentle suggestion as Manley crossed the field. There was great care, both in his words and actions. Lendel was a good ally, who could get him what he needed, but beyond that, he saw someone desperate to be free. It was like looking into the future, seeing what a desperate mess he was yet to become. Perhaps if he could help Lendel, then he could help himself. “Come.”

A hand was offered and Lendel reluctantly took it, kneeling down to grab his mask. Manley waited patiently before gently leading the leader of the Accusers from the field. Lendel’s grip on his hand was firm, and mildly uncomfortable, but Manley did not complain.

Lendel did not let go, as much as his pride insisted he should, because if he did, then he knew he would not leave this field.

Death Crown: Death, trick

(I haven't played the DLC yet so, alas, no demons, or no spoilers for the demons, at least) I am absolutely charmed by the overall mood of this game and would like to see something more in that vein! Anything! Got more sacred (or unholy?) geometrical architecture for Death to interact with, maybe in greater detail than just wrecking it? What else feels like a contemporary take on a Bosch painting? Can Death get lost?

Ghost Trick: Jowd, Cabanela, trick, treat

Anything focused on Cabanela being an unstoppable force (confident, untiring, sparkling, stubborn, dexterous, loyal to the bitter end, legs) and/or Jowd being an immovable object (sarcastic, strong, depressed, self-deprecating but knowing he's hot stuff, also stubborn, clever but an emotional dumbass, round). Figuring out stuff? Something in the new timeline is linked to the old timeline? Coat? Dancing? Scarves? Halloween costumes?

I like Cabanela/Jowd and Cabanela/Alma/Jowd and Cabanela/Alma in scenarios where Jowd isn't around and Alma/Jowd in general (REALLY like all these, okay. like this is the one request where I'd love the most self-indulgent shippy takes as well), and dig Lynne/Memry. Yomiel/fianSissel and Emma/JM also cool!

Hylics: any, trick, treat

(I have only played the first game so far so please no overt spoilers for Hylics 2. Feel free to include stuff from it but... stealthily, I guess?) This is an "anything that feels somewhat like canon, please" sort of request! Love the mood, love the cast, love the little added details in their menu screen. Those can be prompts? Or the oddball stats? How do ToT's trick and treat freeforms apply to Hylics' overall... hylicsness, what would those guys think constitutes a "creepy" moment or a "fluffy" one?

Not into ships for this one, however I WILL say that Dedusmuln has all the proverbial curves in the right places. mostly their face.

Kentucky Route Zero: Weaver

Math, debt, the liminal state of almost being a ghost, seeing the world with a strange clarity... just anything Weaver, please! How'd she make her way to the town? What was it like for her to be working on Xanadu for a time? What about the community broadcast! Does she have an opinion on Carrington's oeuvre? You know... things... stuff. Weaver things. and stuff.

I love the whole cast and Weaver... wove... her story through most of them so feel free to bring in whomever. Not interested in ships here though.

Paradise Killer: Lady Love Dies, trick

A post-canon glimpse of life on '''''perfect''''' 25? That's not QUITE enough class consciousness to make the whole thing work, you guys. What does 'normal' life feel like to LD now? After following Henry's case and talking to Shinji so much, can she see that it's doomed to fail again, and then what? What IS Island 25 like, anyway? (what comes after Island 25, even?)

I liked the choice of canon romances - if it has to be just one I'd prefer it to be Crimson, but I'd also be interested in seeing what a V or triad with Doom Jazz would look like. They're all so chill about stuff

Pyre: Volfred, trick, treat

Pragmatic idealist, charismatic and bad at people, pacifist, activist, physiologically incapable of shutting up for a hot second, what's there not to love... I am very into either of the following: C. Volfred Sandalwood has a fantastic day; C. Volfred Sandalwood has a terrible no good day. Everything is great! Pre-exile antiestablishmentarian antics, maybe with Bertrude? Political gambits? The very physical dangers of the Downside which may or may not catch a scholar by surprise (who saves him?)? Tree problems? Meeting Oralech for the first time and Volfred thinks he himself is hot stuff but out of the two, Oralech is clearly the VIP? Feeling like he should live up to Lu Sclorian's legacy but he feels much closer to other Scribes (and what does Lu have to say about it, one way or another?)? The thrilling intimacy of Reading? The thrilling intimacy of lowercase reading also, maybe reading old manuscripts found in the Downside?

I very much ship him with Tariq and/or Oralech. The only canon ship I like is Hedwyn/Fikani. I also like Soliam/Gol, Bertrude/Pamitha and Celeste/Jodariel. Love all the Nightwings + Dalbert (+Deluge...?); love to dunk on Manley, Brighton and Lendel (I don't enjoy flat-out bashing, more like... I enjoy the way they are portrayed as horrible gremlins in canon and if they turn up in fic I'm not interested in more positive portrayals)

Signs of the Sojourner: Rhea, Elias, trick, treat

Once again pretty much an "anything in the style of canon" request. I love this setting, its themes and all the little lives that fill it. I am interested in a wide range of postcanon scenarios and love the whole cast - does Rhea come back to $town any number of years down the line and find $character? How'd their storyline end up in the medium-long term? What the hell is up with the Stranger (seriously, three runs and I never managed to speak with them, I have no idea)? What's life like for Elias back home, or in a new home if they can't keep the store, or if Rhea landed the Oscar ending or whatever (just, please, not dead Rhea. I love that ending but can't stand to consider what it'd do to Elias)? Or does he join the caravan just once? Who did Rhea grow to really like and can't wait to see every time? Any ghost stories or creepy encounters on the caravan's route? Does Thunder help?

I'm neutral on ships here - good with Rhea&Elias, good with background Rhea/Elias but I wouldn't like a romantic focus.

Totally Normal Wizard Apprentice: apprentice, wizard, master, trick, treat

(conflict of interest disclaimer, I illustrated this but didn't write nor nominate it) What awaits the apprentice outside the wizard's tower? It sounds like a pretty wild moon out there, I loved all the worldbuilding hints of the bigger setting. Does the wizard keep track of the apprentice, with her telescope or otherwise, and how does she take care of her ruined parlor? Was this all some sort of 5d chess on the master's part, and if so to what end? And what kind of otherworldly patience does this man possess, anyway, to handle the apprentice on a daily basis?

Twin Peaks: Margaret, Diane, Lucy, Tammy, trick, treat

(bass-boosted ethereal whooshing) For tricks, I would like to see any of these characters face the woods, the mystery of the woods, and/or a new symbol of your liking. Or: Margaret in the city, Diane and the moon, Lucy and the color blue, Tammy incognito.

For treats, a happy meeting. I love the whole cast and I'm always thrilled by gonzo "&" pairings, bring in whomever! Coffee and pie? The Bookhouse Boys? A kinder aspect of the woods?

Fandom-specific notes: love s3, love the books too. I like Lucy/Andy, Margaret/Sam fwiw, and rarepairs Tammy/Cynthia and Diane/Constance. Please no Fireman's-house-is-the-white-lodge, no Twin Perfect, no Judy-was-destroyed (nor is destroyable).

Arcade Spirits: Percy, Teo, treat

More than anything, I love the sense of group and camaraderie among the arcade's staff and regulars, and I'd love to see some more of it. I picked Percy and Teo 'cause they're my faves but anyone you may want to add, up to and including Sue, is very very welcome. Is there any aspect of gaming that feels like it could be adapted to this strange world of contemporary arcades? Cosplay shenanigans for everyone courtesy of Ashley? Any other activity that could show how Percy and/or Teo get along with the others, like they were all forming little groups during the beach chapter? It's such a feel-good canon, any feel-good situation would be great!

My Ari is with Percy but I'm not really interested in shipping here. All sorts of friendships though!

Kino no Tabi | Kino's Journey - Keiichi Sigsawa (Kino & Hermes) : i love this canon for two big reasons: one is the exploration of cultures or individuals from an outsider’s point of view, and the other is the exploration of gender and identity through various cultures or personal lives. this is also a very existentialist canon, which i adore.

Kino no Tabi lends itself well to two of my favorite things: crossover - i’d pretty much read any crossover with it, even if i’d never even heard of the other fandom! - and outsider POV. Kino is a perfect outsider POV character, but often an outsider’s perspective on Kino can be more interesting. what does your favorite world think of vagrancy? what would Kino think of that world in turn? alternatively, make up an entirely new country for them to visit. a lot of canon countries are based on fables or psychology or philosophy problems, but they can be based on pretty much anything! as long as it’s something different for Kino to see i’ll be happy with it!

Kino is often read as nonbinary and i personally headcanon Hermes to be nonbinary too, but Kino and Hermes have never come across another nonbinary person in their travels. What would their time in a country that explicitly recognizes nonbinary people be like?

any pronouns are fine for Kino, play up the confusion! please do not use it/its pronouns for Hermes though, even from characters who wouldn’t know better. anything else is fine. no ships with Kino, please, Kino is transient. ships without Kino are fine, but of course shouldn’t be the focus.

Dr Cataclysm (Webcomic) (Agrippa & Melon) : if youre here for a different canon and haven’t read this... do so. its pretty short and its free. it’s also by the guy who made Off if that’s a drawing point. find it here.

give me some wholesome found family slice of life and i’ll love you forever. agrippa and melon need a break!! give them a nice dinner or something!! i don’t super ship but tossing in some agrippa/crocodile could be fun. or everyone!! just have agrippa and melon host everyone for a nice dinner. janos can be there as long as he’s chill.

alternatively... that last issue sure is somethin huh. what do you think happened? a where-are-they-now would be fun. i have my ideas, but what are yours?

Moon Knight (Comics) (Marc Spector) : marc :( i love him but hes had such a hard time! (especially lately!!!) you could give him a nice day :) he’s honestly pretty chill despite all the uh... divine annoyances and mercenary tendencies, i’m sure there’s a few people he could just hang out and enjoy company with.

orrrr you could... make his day worse? :))) so many people hate this man, half the time he’s on a team he’s belittled constantly. what’s that like? i love ensemble pieces, if you stick him on a team or with a couple loners and explore their relationship that would be fun. what do people marc works with think of Khonshu? i’m a big fan of suprise revivals, and marc dies... so often.

marc is also really fun to shove into crossovers, and has a built-in excuse for it with Khonshu! part of his whole deal is he 1. is adaptable and 2. just Does Not Give Up. this means he will survive in any world you stick him in or die trying. and then get up and keep trying.

my favorite runs are v2 (1985) and v5 (2015-16) (the first half of v5 is really good), as well as his time with the WCA and the Secret Avengers. i also really liked contagion and conan serpent war despite their... debatable canon. i don’t really know what’s going on with the most recent avengers run.

don’t be weird about his mental illnesses. if you write Khonshu, i like Khonshu-as-God 10000% more than Khonshu-as-delusion and he should be an asshole, but in a lot of the more recent comics he’s just cruel which is :(. please keep to the asshole god side of things as opposed to a cruel god. the 2019 annual and conan serpent war have my favorite Khonshu characterizations. My Explicit-rating ban is lifted for this canon, but only for extreme violence and death.

Nuclear Throne (Video Game) (Yung Venus) : what’s his deal?? he’s a really comical character and probably has the least Bad Stuff going on with him in canon, but he’s still a god of money of all things. what does that mean in a world where currency is extinct? what does being a gun god mean when everyone has guns? is he revered or ignored? i’d love a more serious exploration of YV-as-god, or of his relationships with the rest of those around the campfire.

pretty much anything goes for this canon. mind the general DNWs. My Explicit-rating ban is lifted for this canon, but only for extreme violence and death.

Pyre (Video Game) (any) : while i love the characters of Pyre, what i love more is the world. what were the Scribes like, and what do people think of them now? we know that the Triumvirates were only a tiny portion of the Downside population, what are the rest of them like?

If you’re more partial to the characters, great! i love them all! (or at least all of those who were nominated this year!!) slice of life or post-canon political comedy is the way to go. give me a missing scene from the time spent on Mount Alodiel, or show me how the new government is handling things. depending on who made it up, they either have a lot of experience or none at all!

please feel free to play around with end conditions, but one i’m fond of (and the one i got my first time through) is to liberate Hedwyn, Jodariel, Rukey, Fae, Ti'zo, Pametha, and Oralech, while sir Gilman, Volfred, Bertrude, all non-Nightwings, and the Reader(+Sandra) remain. i tend to use Fae, Mae, or Gae for the moontouched girl but any name is good! i also tend to not give my Readers names, but if you’d like to go right ahead :)

please nothing with Manley, Lendel, or Brighton unless it’s an ensemble piece. no jodariel/ignarius.

favorite male character: HEDWYN who is my Ultimate Husband………..home of phobic of supergiant not to allow me to romance hedwyn? absolutely. also there is like no m!reader/hedwyn fic out there and you guys need to get on it. also one of my absolute mvps. fully upgraded gol’s bracer + critical strike is a field clearer, gol golathanian said gay and trans rites rights.

favorite female character: chae my absolute ANGEL. i would DIE for her. she has INFINITE worth in the eyes of the eight scribes and they had to nerf her glory down to twenty in the spirit of sportsmanship. ALSO a real mvp, dark vigor is ridiculously good and sudden grasp is the funnest mastery in the entire game. did i mention she’s Baby? the scribes Love Chae and That’s A Fact.

least favorite character: hmm it’s a tie between lendel and manley but i don’t see nearly as many people being horny for lendel. seriously what Is it with you guys h. manley tinderstauff is ugly, immoral, and has a terrible personality. triple threat. lu sclorian looks upon you with nothing but sorrow and disapproval.

favorite ship: tie between hedwyn/self insert reader and, of course, the classic gol golathanian/soliam murr. can you believe the book of rites invented gay love? the book of rites invented gay love.

favorite friendship: genuinely love the og trio so much. rukey/jodi/hedwyn have such a good dynamic and every time i start the game i get such a fond happy smile when i see them again in the sandfolds.

favorite quote: “now, as you know i normally would wish you a shameful defeat. but in this case……..i wish you a little bit of luck.”

worst character death: there……….really aren’t that many deaths in this game but also, like. oralech. supergiant sure loves their tragic gays, huh.

this made me so happy you have no idea moment: WAY TOO MANY this deserves its own post but ALSO. the conversation with ti’zo and tariq where you can tell him that he’s a valued member of the nightwings and tariq tells him he’s a lot like ha’ub!! what a good and wholesome conversation i fucking jump out of my seat happystimming every single time.

saddest moment: hm……..when i realized not everyone could be free, if i had to say, but…….honestly the entire final third of the game had such a bittersweet air to it. my first playthrough i went in almost completely blind, and then i ended the game by sending volfred home………not going to lie i bawled when the epilogue started and then entirely through the credits. just a big happy/sad, narratively and spiritually fulfilled, love-my-friends-and-the-cause Mess of a man. i cried so hard it cleared my sinuses. it was great.
