The Pyrehearts

Sir Gilman: This knight's former commander certainly deserves all the censure he can get, but eliminating him from the Rite....

Rukey: Come on, that coward had it coming!

Sir Gilman: Sir Rukey, this knight unworthy of new comrades is troubled. He remembers that Lady Seagrass was highly allergic to many potions. If Master Sandalwood is right, Oralech has most likely used one of the remedies....

Rukey: Reade-e-er! Gilman thinks the demon-doctor killed Seagrass! Get the blackwagon up, we gotta find out for sure!

*few hours later*

Sir Deluge: Did you f-f-f-fly to mock us? It wasn't enough to keep us out of the Rite?!

Rukey: Are you all right?

Sir Gilman: Can you inform this knight of Lady Seagrass's condition?

Sir Deluge: You! You, traitor, a moray eel who kills by stealth!

Sir Gilman: By the merciful Scribes! No, no, NO!!!

Volfred Sandalwood: I can't believe it. We will track down the blackwagon of the True Nightwing tonight, and I will personally tell Oralech that he has become a murderer.

Sir Deluge: This knight doesn't know what you're talking about, you bunch of bandits, but if you ever get our drive-imps to pull the blackwagon aground again, you'll be considered blood enemies by the entire Sea-Dominion!

The Fate

Volfred Sandalwood: Where are the Fate?

Oralech: The Fate must have suffered a misfortune of some sort.

Volfred Sandalwood: How could you?! How could you lay a hand on the poor Oldhearts? Oralech, you became a monster!

*at the next Rite*

Dalbert Oldheart: We apologize, honored Nightwings, for not being able to attend the last Rite. We are eternally sorry, so we give you these amulets.

Volfred Sandalwood: You shouldn't bother. It's our fault you were framed.

Dalbert Oldheart: Framed? Mister Sandalwood, you must be mistaken. The fact is, my son Almer and the imp Ra'ji were inspired by the story of a traveling healer and his imp-friend about the mud baths at Moon Lake. They were told that the healing mud helped with joint pain. And Almer broke the wheel on purpose so that I could treat my old bones instead of the Rite. Again, I apologize, Almer's actions have put you in a very unpleasant position!

The Withdrawn

Reader: How did you keep the Withdrawn out of the Rite?!

Oralech: Witches are addicted to artifacts. One of them happened to be cursed. The Withdrawn must have suffered a misfortune of some sort.

Gareph: Yeah, that's what happened! Would you like, batty-Nightwing, me to tell you a completely made-up story about one surly demon who stole a witch's cage of newborn imps and the very grateful parents who promptly deserted from the Triumvirate?

Dalbert is the one who gave Almer his name after rescuing him as a child and, similarly, the cur loves to call him 'pup'; usually 'my pup' or 'dear pup', a habit of Dalbert's that embarrassed Almer the older he got but it's also something he'll cling to in moments of extreme emotion or distress. If he's in a heightened state of emotion it will make him cry which usually helps him to calm down.

Being called 'pup' and 'son' by Dalbert is just another reminder that he's finally been accepted by someone after all, and even if he kicks up a bit of a fuss around others Almer still loves that his father calls him so. It reminds him of his place, his family, and that means the world to Almer.

Quick first of the New Year!

First impression It probably went something like this: Who is this sad angry man and why do I care for him so much. I think seeing him was like, I dunno, a pleasant surprise!

Impression now Prettyy much the same but I have grown more attached (no thanks to you /pos). Shes mu silly little guy and I hope he experiences all the life's joys. He's still my fav sad angry man.

Favorite moment Any _ae and Almer is great!! Seeming as it's the only ones we really get in game. But I do like the scene where if you crash into their wagon, _ae will call out to Almer to say hi/apologise. And then Almer running to help Dadbert.

Favorite relationship Heh. Heheheh. _ae and Almer. Again considering it's the only real one we see aside from his relationship with his Dad. _ae is such a weird force of energy in Almers life, and I think his confusions to her unabashed kindness is super fun. Like yesssss.

Favorite headcanon This kid loves to knit!! He may not be great, but he will try his best as he just wants something to feel like his good at. Also that a lot of the facial markings are symbolic of his adoptive family, I think he'd have tattoos/markings like that all over.
