I saw your transistor au and I'm in love with it 😍 What abilities do you think the thieves would have? Would they be the same as the game or something else? 👀

for the q - honestly i have not thought that far if we are talking about functions ٩( ᐛ )و

im assuming anyone who has played the game can probably match who i based the thieves on but it only goes so far as who they are in cloudbank and how they contribute to the city as citizens but very loosely. it’s more fun to me to play sandbox pre-transistor events but i digress!!

thinking about it now, im not sure if i want their abilities to stick too closely to the game? for example, i based yusuke off farrah yon dale - because the concept of a skypainter who could not paint anymore is very delicious - but her function switch() doesn’t feel like yusuke? compared to say ryuji where i took some inspo from olmarq and wave tennegan but respectively the function load() and cull() could potentially work for him. open to being convinced though if you have any thoughts ✨

Transistor Ladies Ranked By How Big Their File Size Is

1. Red - A fully leveled Red has 32 MEM. Good luck beating that, anyone.

2. Sybil Reisz - As a Lesbian and in-game boss, she is one of the most powerful people in Cloudbank, and therefore must take up a lot of space.

3. Farrah Yon-Dale - Farrah controls the weather, which is a function that’s bound to take up some space.

4.Lillian Platt - Science is very important in a place like Cloudbank, so one of the top scientists is going to be very important in turn.

5. Niola Chein - Everyone knows politicans don’t have big file sizes.

6. Luna - Luna is a tiny girl, but we love her anyway.

Transformation (Blue/The Boxer/Mr. Nobody Drabble - Transistor)

(( The man in the transistor always struck me as the type of guy who stays on top of information and what's popular with Cloudbank, hence knowing of those they find in the transistor, though the way he spoke of Farrah always made me feel he admired her to some extent. I like to think they crossed paths before their fates were carried out. Also another double drabble, because I had feels about this topic. ))

Red had mentioned off-hand of knowing the woman responsible for the dusk and dawn skies transforming into vibrant palettes that he admired. Farrah Yon-Dale was a name better kept for hushed conversations than idle chit-chat, but it made no difference to Red.

"Her and I go back," she admitted.

His jaw dropped. "You know her?!"

Red nodded. "She painted and I sang, but our intentions remained the same. Birds of the same feather, but we flew in separate directions."

That knowing smirk of Red's was lost on him as he rambled on of his adoration for the sky painter.

He never expected Farrah herself to grace the people of Cloudbank with her presence at the gala he accompanied with Red. She simply patted his arm, smiled, winked, and wandered off, leaving the two alone to converse.

"M-Ms. Yon-Dale," he managed out, already shuffling and fidgeting in place, "I am such a—"

Her laugh was as rich and radiant as her colors. "Oh please, no need for formalities! Your Red's bodyguard, right?" She extended a hand and he was quick to shake it. "She's spoken highly of you. Such a pleasure to finally meet you!"

And he beamed. "Same to you."

For a very long time I’ve had a silly little daydream that Supergiant would announce Transistor for the Switch by Jen Zee posting a doodle of Farrah Yon-Dale [since her function is Switch()]. That didn’t happen, but I can still live out my dreams on my own. This is very much a celebratory picture, I am very excited.

I’ll need a new daydream now. I shall spend my time from now until November daydreaming of augmented reality art gloves.

additional thoughts on all that from replay:

it’s repeatedly mentioned that people assumed some of the cam’s targets moved out/retired to the country and this is seen as like, a normal and fine thing?

farrah yon-dale (sky painter)’s profile also says some of her fans think she skipped town to avoid her sentencing and is now painting the skies somewhere ELSE which implies that there are at least places OUTSIDE of cloudbank proper which exist in the same, like, framework where she could do that

Relocation is discussed at various points too and there’s an unknown selection of places one could relocate to FROM cloudbank (but probably pretty wide; the OVC terminal discussing it has an option for broad or narrow search which implies at LEAST enough options that... narrowing it down based on profile data would be USEFUL to people)

(relocation is implied to be something ovc has to handle, but nobody’s comment about skipping town and the implication that FYD is thought to have fled imply THATS not the only way to leave cloudbank, just the “official” way)

only semi related - nobody’s repeated comments that “[the process] really don’t like the water” implies that the geographical features of cloudbank are NOT totally controlled by the process; the water at the very least is something outside of their sphere of influence (though of course they also create bridges so it’s not TOTALLY impossible for them to act on/over the water)

tl;dr I still have no idea what the country is, or whether that’s where red and nobody are at the end of the game, or what degree of “real” cloudbank is
