LoSH Appreciation Week Day 6 - Origins
For a superhero team where most members origins are best captured by Lady Gaga's Born This Way, there are a surprising number of superhero origins to tell.
While several origins were told in the original comics (Adventure Comics, Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes, etc.), several origins were told or retold in the comic book appropriately named Secret Origins (volume 2). Here are those stories.
Shadow Lass from Secret Origins #8.
The Legion from Secret Origins #25.
The Subs from Secret Origins #37.
Phantom Girl from Secret Origins #42.
The Legion Clubhouse from Secret Origins #46.
Ferro Lad, Karate Kid, and Chemical King from Secret Origins #47.
And Bouncing Boy from Secret Origins #49.

Okay, you know how City Spirits are a thing?
And Superheros both Die, Un-Die, Re-Die, Dimensionally Sorta Maybe Die But Then Don't, and also never Died in the first place? And probably do at least a portion of that in Medical? While ALSO hanging out, quantumly maybe Dead, maybe alive, in their Super Cool Clubhouse?
Which is ALSO exposed to space rays, the entirety of The Magic Club, weird alien Technology, aaaaand whatever they decide to store on it??
:T
I'm just SAYING...
For as long as dwellings Of Significance have existed, there have been house spirits. They are the IDEA of the house. The SIGNIFICANCE of it. What makes it HOME. The weight of the halls that turn into Halls. And The Watchtower? Is KNOWN to enough people, to have SIGNIFICANCE.
It's a HALL where Heros Live. A Place Of Safety. It GAURDS.
It is also inanimate. Steeped heavily in every sort of energy, be it magic or science, and multidimensional fuckery imaginable. But? Not SENTIENT. Yet.
Until of course... this new fangled Anti-Ghost Shield comes out. By the new and recently no-longer on the run (from the Goverment they're at war with) Dr.'s Fenton! Why were they are war? Don't worry about it!
They Won.
:)
Unrelated! Never threaten their kids. They WILL find you. Not a threat, just informing!
:) :)
The security guy they sent to the expo was from Gotham, unfortunately. So he found the couple to be completely normal. They? Should not have sent Thomas. He was hired BECAUSE his parents were Mad Scientists in the making. Batman was steering him away from a life of crime. Thomas could judge "normal" from "deeply unhinged" if it belly danced infront of him, in the seduction dance of a thousand, deep fried, mackerel.
It's his version of face blindness. Great with technology though! And the shield worked a treat. Even promised to be both ethical AND programmable! Not harming the ghosts it pushed out unless they try to force entry AND allowing them to program in exceptions. Allowing Heros such as Deadman to freely enter!
Is it a little janky looking? Yeah. But if it works, it works. They add it to the systems and flip it on.
One small and immediate problem. There is now a small knight shaped child in the engine room. She was NOT there a second ago. She has controlo of the ENTIRE Watchtower, claims to BE the Watchtower, and knows all their names. Knows a disturbing level of information about every employee on the Tower.
Oh and apparently "No one is leaving."
No one panic! Just unplug the... she has swallowed the ghost shielding unit into a wall. Slightly panic.
Panic lite.
Luckily, no one is willing to throw the first punch at what appears to be a small child. So the JLA Dark have a chance to literally run over.
They demand to know who's bright idea it was to add... "ectoplasm"? Was THAT the energy source? Oooh. Their departments probably in trouble. Later though, the hero's are trying to negotiate with a small child. Who is apparently a ghost.
It's not SAFE, she's insisting. Everyone has to stay HERE where she can protect them. From the nebulous threat of Bad Guys. They LEAVE and come back HURT. She is UPSET and everyone is going to STAY! Forever!
Not good.
Then Thomas pipes up, like the oblivious asshole he is, that he should PROBABLY call the engines makers. They did mention something a long these lines might happen.
WHAT.
You think, Thomas? Might be a good idea, maybe? Just a bit? YES FUCKING CALL THEM!
(All right, all right! No need to YELL! *ring ring* 'Ello? Maddie? Sorry to catch you at dinner-)
So now? There is a glowing college student, who was escorted here by a WEREWOLF, who just? Tore open reality? To some green, swirling hellscape? And popped through like "sup, sorry I'm late. Was in a council meeting!" And judging by the ficking CROWN and the various quietly panicking magic users, he probably didn't mean student council, and just?
Guess he's hear to talk to their newly sentient Tower.
Question! Asks Thomas, of the fucking Ghost King because of course he does, are they Dads now? Or if they already have kids, Dads AGAIN? Do they have to come up with a baby name?
.......oh dear lord, the Ghost King looks like he has to think about it.
What are we gonna tell our SPOUSES!? "Hey honey, guess what I got at work today! A NEW CHILD. They're a space station!"

NYT Magazine - March 2018
“Chris Evans Comes Back Down to Earth”
March 22, 2018
Chris Evans has a theory about tap dancing. “Tap is waiting to have its day,” he said one recent afternoon, sitting in a TriBeCa hotel clubhouse around the corner from an apartment he’s been renting since last month. Mr. Evans, or Captain America, as he’s been known in omnipresent Marvel movies for the better part of a decade, tapped as a child and still has sincere reverence for the form. His theory is that tap dancing today, like competitive hip-hop dancing in the early 2000s, is generally undervalued and ripe for a comeback.
“If you walk down the street and you see someone tapping,” you stop in your tracks, he said, using an unprintable word, “because it’s awesome.”
Twice a week since he’s been living in New York, Mr. Evans, who ordinarily splits his time between his native Boston and Los Angeles, has taken refuge in tap, clearing his mind and working up a sweat in private lessons taught by a friend. The lessons aren’t preparation for any role in particular, although Mr. Evans is hard at work on a pivotal one: his Broadway debut, as a charming but manipulative cop in Kenneth Lonergan’s "Lobby Hero" which is now in previews and opens March 26 at the Helen Hayes Theater.
The dancing, rather, is just a low-pressure new hobby (“It makes me feel like I’m a part of the music,” Mr. Evans said.) Along with the play, and the move to a new city, it’s one component in an ad hoc but inevitable process — not quite a rebirth, more like a re-orientation — designed to help the 36-year-old actor answer a nagging question: What do you do with your life after walking away from the role of a lifetime?
Since 2011, the year “Captain America: The First Avenger” was released, Mr. Evans’s face (and torso, and biceps) has signified a marketable mix of principled strength and rank-and-file virtue as reliably as any in Hollywood. He was a working-class revolutionary in the dystopic thriller “Snowpiercer,” a stoic defender of the public school system in the indie family drama “Gifted,” a cunning spy who risks everything to save a persecuted minority in the soon-to-be-released “The Red Sea Diving Resort.”
And then there are the Avengers movies, in which the nobility of Mr. Evans’s character is so unimpeachable that entire plotlines turn on the ticks of his moral compass. In the TriBeCa lounge, Mr. Evans volunteered his own stereotype: “Taciturn men who are leaders, selfless and magnanimous.”
Last year, he filmed back-to-back the final two Marvel movies for which he is under contract — “Avengers: Infinity War,” due in April, and a sequel planned for next year. For now, he has no plans to return to the franchise (“You want to get off the train before they push you off,” he said), and expects that planned reshoots in the fall will mark the end of his tenure in the familiar red, white and blue super suit.
It was in the midst of shooting “Infinity War” that Mr. Evans signed on for “Lobby Hero.” Also starring Michael Cera, Brian Tyree Henry and Bel Powley, it inaugurates the nonprofit Second Stage Theater’s recently remodeled Broadway venue. The choice will give those wondering about Mr. Evans’s frame of mind plenty to chew on: His character, known only as Bill, is essentially a narcissistic creep, with a vision of protecting the innocent that lifts a warped mirror to the actor’s usual procession of do-gooders.
The play’s director, Trip Cullman, sent the script to Mr. Evans betting that the potential to subvert his image would be too enticing to pass up.
“I had this inkling that he may not have had the opportunity to show what he can really do as an actor,” Mr. Cullman said. “A lot of actors are afraid to play someone unlikable, but I think he really has an egoless desire to serve the work.”
Though “Lobby Hero” is his Broadway debut, Mr. Evans is not a total stranger to the theater. He grew up in Sudbury, Mass., outside of Boston, in a family of performers: His mother was a dancer who later ran a children’s theater, his elder sister Carly studied drama at New York University and his younger brother Scott is a television actor who recently appeared on the Netflix comedy “Grace and Frankie.”
In high school, Mr. Evans balanced wrestling and lacrosse practice with Shakespeare, and was voted “most theatrical” after appearing in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “The Winter’s Tale.” The summer before his senior year, he moved to New York to intern for a casting company and went back to Sudbury with his first agent. By graduation, he’d landed a role on television, as one of three boys in a former all-girls’ school on the short-lived Fox drama “Opposite Sex.”
He spent the next several years playing a series of clean-cut hunks with an ambivalent relationship to their shirts: There was the shirtless jock in “Not Another Teen Movie,” the shirtless musician in “What’s Your Number?” and the shirtless flame-throwing superhero in two “Fantastic Four” movies, which put him in Marvel’s orbit.
In conversation, Mr. Evans is more thoughtful and grounded than his filmography might suggest. He is animated by the challenge of playing against type, but has no regrets over his previous roles and surprisingly little anxiety about future prospects.
“I used to have thoughts of wanting to climb to the top of something, or wanting to be somebody,” he said. “But when you get the thing that you think you want and then you wake up and realize that you still have pockets of sadness, and that your struggle will reinvent itself, you stop chasing after those things and it’s liberating, because you realize that right here, right now, is exactly all I need.”
Mr. Evans was wearing the urban camouflage of a black NASA baseball cap with a cuffed brim pulled low. At around 6 feet tall, he is much less physically imposing in person than he appears onscreen, with the unassuming athleticism of the friend you forget does CrossFit until beach season comes around.
For the play, he recently grew a formidable mustache — a mighty rust-flecked horseshoe — and gained a super power of a different sort. “People don’t recognize me at all,” he said. “I can look them right in the eye — it’s like I’m invisible.”
“Lobby Hero,” which ran Off Broadway in 2001, follows several nights in the lives of four workers on the graveyard shift who are stratified by professional and social class. A pair of male security guards, one black and one white, have a series of run-ins with a swaggering cop and his young female partner in the lobby of a nondescript Manhattan apartment building.
A queasy drama, replete with abuses of power and sexual coercion, unfolds between the male officer, played by Mr. Evans, and his partner Dawn (Ms. Powley). In the #MeToo era, when sensitivities to the plight of women in male-dominated institutions are especially raw, Mr. Evans’s scenes add live wires to the play’s emotional and political circuitry.
In an interview, Mr. Lonergan, the playwright, dismissed the notion that he had been prescient 17 years ago. (He has since gone on to a successful film career, writing and directing “Manchester by the Sea” most recently.) The play’s fresh resonance, he said, was an indictment of how little has changed in society.
“This isn’t new,” Mr. Lonergan said. “Anyone who’s shocked by these issues — I don’t know where they’ve been.”
Mr. Cullman, the director, said he hoped “Lobby Hero” would further “expose toxic masculinity.”
“Kenny has given voice to Dawn’s predicament in such a compassionate and powerful way,” he said.
Mr. Evans’s newfound appetite for morally challenged characters has already been tested by Broadway’s eight-show-a-week routine. Two weeks into previews for “Lobby Hero,” he said it had felt more like two months.
But he’s prepared for the part with the fervor of the newly indoctrinated. Mr. Evans’s character is charismatic and often funny, and the actor devoted much of his rehearsal time to exploring how a man who is well liked can shade into reprehensible.
“He has the right instrument to bring the character to life,” said Mr. Cera, who worked with Mr. Evans on the 2010 film “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.”
Mr. Cera pointed to one scene in which Bill threatens his partner. “The words on the page are menacing, but Chris made the choice to deliver them as if he himself is spinning out, which is much more frightening,” he said. “It reduced Bel to tears one night because it was so unexpected.”
The role has unexpectedly submerged Mr. Evans in questions of gender inequality and the distribution of power just as those same questions are roiling his industry.
The actor, who said he didn’t base his performance on anyone in particular (“It’s awful to admit, but I know plenty of guys who fit this mold”), has been studying how to better conduct himself as an ally to women in his profession.
One book he found eye-opening was Rebecca Solnit’s “The Mother of All Questions.” Mr. Evans read it while dating the actress Jenny Slate (their on-again, off-again relationship, beloved by the internet, recently ended) and decided that he needed to listen more and speak less.
“The hardest thing to reconcile is that just because you have good intentions, doesn’t mean it’s your time to have a voice,” he said.
As has become the norm for star-driven plays on Broadway, “Lobby Hero” has a limited run, through May 13. And while the show is as substantial a leap as any Mr. Evans has made professionally, it remains a kind of riff on his existing résumé. When it’s over, he’ll discover what it really means to be a film actor with Captain America’s face (and bank account), but without the job.
The last time he experienced anything similar was in 2016, when he took a year off from acting after wrapping the third Captain America film. Mr. Evans spent the time remodeling his house in Boston and bonding with his family. He visited his mother or sister every other day and marked the seasons with his nieces and nephews — apple picking, pumpkin carving, decorating a Christmas tree. He raised an adopted puppy — a regal mixed breed named Dodger — and became a regular at his local grocery store.
Mr. Evans said it was those slice-of-life domestic moments, rather than notions of any particular career path, that have most influenced his vision board.
“When I think about the times that I’m happiest, it’s not on a movie set,” he said, adding that he no longer wishes to make more than one film per year. “I’ve stopped thinking about my trajectory, or my oeuvre, or whatever pretentious word you want to use. I’m just following whatever I feel creatively hungry for.”
He wants to direct (his directorial debut “Before We Go” screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2014) and to start a family of his own. And, when he’s had his fill of tap dancing, he envisions many more hobbies, including sculpting and carpentry.
“I’m not afraid to take my foot off the gas,” he said. ”If someone said tomorrow, ‘You’re done, you can’t do anything else,’ I’d be O.K.”
For all those who couldn't read it through the NYT link.

There was an unlettered page shared in this article from the upcoming Shazam! (2023) ongoing series written by Mark Waid and drawn by Dan Mora starring Billy that got me super intrigued about the story of the series. I’ll put and talk about it under a cut in case anyone doesn’t want to see any interior pages from the book until it’s out:
So, the picture of Captain Marvel that Billy is seeing online is obviously drawn in a C.C. Beck-inspired style, but in addition to that the costume is different from Billy’s main design in this series in that it doesn’t have the line around the lightning bolt, the wrist bands are different, and he has the classic detailing on the cape.
And the people in the online comment section are saying the name Captain Marvel.
The New Champion of Shazam! (2022) had a bunch of old Fawcett Comics characters- some of whom hadn’t been seen since the pre-New 52 reboot continuity, some of whom hadn’t been seen since DC’s revival of the classic Marvel Family in the 70s and early 80s, and some of whom hadn’t been seen since Fawcett Comics was still publishing in the 40s and early 50s- appear on missing persons posters and then revealed to be homeless people who were kidnapped and only noticed by other homeless people.
I thought that this was conceptually a really cool way to reference all of these old characters from a now-defunct company in a series about one of that company’s few characters that’s still really being published. But it didn’t do anything in-universe with the fact that they were old Fawcett Comics characters; they weren’t targeted because of that publishing history but just because they were homeless. Which is fine because the story works without it and the idea is still present, but I had thought while the series was coming out that that would have been really interesting.
The way Mark Waid had previously discussed Billy’s hero name change from Shazam to the Captain and the personality change to make him more like his classic self in this series had made me think it was just going to be an unexplained abrupt thing to get into the new direction from the character and then have him go on from there without dwelling on it.
But now it looks like there’s actually going to be something done in the story to explore how Billy’s been changed over the years in different iterations with him somehow seeing a picture of his original self online that’s being called a name he’s never gone by in this continuity.
Which has personally got me much more intrigued in the story of this book than the announcement description talking about how the series is going to have “Dinosaurs from space! The Clubhouse of Eternity! Homicidal worms and talking tigers! Atomic robots, alien worlds, mad scientists, sinister curses, and villains from throughout the DC Universe!”

Asfelaeia Justice Community
"You sure about this? You want the face of your justice group to be an anonymous super hero?"
The Wizard Spider-Man looks over the poster.
"Well you already did the fundraiser. You're a public figure in the face of the city anyway. Why not?"
"Just making sure you don't get called a vigilante group. I do technically participate in vigilante-ism."
"You're a hero, Spider-Man. We have lawyers for that. But most importantly, are you okay with your image being licensed to WISH?"
"It's a safe option. I do have a staked investment in the Organization."
"Sign Here, and Here."
"Your legal name is Spider-Man?"
"Yessir."
"Sign here and here. And here. Officially speaking, these are Wizard Man Spider posters. Got it?"
"Yes. Of course."
WISHGH on Ghormack Street was starting one of many initiatives; the Asfelaeia Justice Community (AJC.)
This would be a volunteer network of clubhouses dedicated to keeping the streets safe in a number of useful ways. The clubhouses would be places to gather, build community bonds, host events, and keep the kids off the streets.
Members of the AJC could join the AJCSC (Asfelaeia Justice Community Street Corps), individuals dedicated to guarding the streets and being the escorts of good nature across the city.
Lost puppy? Call the AJC.
Lost Grandma? Call the AJC.
They are here to help.
Most importantly, the AJC would be a carefully designed informant network to keep tabs on the 'health' of the city and its inhabitants.

Hero for a Day is the seventh LazyTown episode, but the first one to center around the theme of being a hero. Ziggy wants to be a hero like Sportacus, but he stuffs it up multiple times.
The episode begins with a pun on the alphabet. Sportacus grabs a bowl and he puts some Sportscandy in it - carrots for Vitamin A, potatoes for vitamin B, and tomatoes for vitamin C.
Meanwhile in the town, Ziggy (a.k.a Sweetacus) is practicing saving someone.. on a lollipop. Is it just me, or has Ziggy been eating the same lollipop for 4 seasons? Anyways, he ends up eating the lollipop. Not so safe if you ask me.
Stephanie is at Pixel's house, and Pixel has made the blueprint for the treehouse that they want to build (I have no idea if a program for this type of stuff exists). Stephanie asks when they will make it with real wood and stuff but Pixel doesn't understand. Cue Ziggy who comes running in Pixel's house.
He leans on one button and turns off all the tech in Pixel's house. Considering how much Pixel uses his devices, I think Ziggy did something good, which is why I don't get how angry he is.. until Pixel reveals he lost the clubhouse program. But I don't think it was really all that serious for Pixel to start yelling at Ziggy. In Robbie's lair he is trying to sleep but fails.
He is confused and annoyed as to why he can't sleep - he's counted sheep, he's tired, and he's slept on his blanket. Maybe try covering yourself with the blanket? Anyways, Robbie says he has been awake for three days, but his fingers show the number five. What a villain. Robbie then questions if he is asleep and that he's in a dream. He tests it out by pinching himself. He then screams real loudly (and pretty funnily) accompanied by a "Snake-in-Eagle's-Shadowesque" tune of mashing piano keys at the same time.
Milford is delivering a letter to the mail, but he has forgotten to put a stamp on a letter to the president. He puts the letters in his mouth and checks his pocket. Ziggy sees him and thinks he's choking (if he was choking he wouldn't be acting so normal..) and jumps onto his back. He then hits him on the back and makes him spit out the letters. Then they fly away because of the wind.
Sportacus' crystal beeps while he is in the airship, and he gives the mayor back the letter by jumping high up in the air, grabbing hold of a tree branch, doing a little flip on it, letting go, then catching the letter in mid air. He then flips over to Milford then gives him the letter. How awesome!! He even tells Ziggy to take his super hero steps small at a time. He asks Milford if there are any small super hero jobs for him to do, but Milford says no. He then runs over to the kids making their treehouse, but runs right into a pile of wood. It seems that everyone except Stephanie is mad at him.. until he offers to carry some wood and breaks the blueprint into half.
While Sportacus is going back to his airship, his crystal beeps. Ziggy is trying to tape the blueprint back (can't he take a hint..?) but he gets himself wrapped up in tape (you have to be real stupid to do that). He tries to do a flip like Sportacus, but Sportacus catches him while he is in midair. Anyways, Robbie decides to come out of his lair, but it's too bright for him, so he uses some sunflowers as his sunglasses (and gets hurt in the process of exiting the lair, considering he can't see).
Ziggy is sitting on a bench sadly until Sportacus comes up to him, asking what's wrong. Ziggy says he is a super zero and Sportacus asks why he wants to be a hero and then he says to do cool tricks.. SUPERHEROES ARE SUPPOSED TO SAVE PEOPLE, ZIGGY. DOES SUPERMAN FLIP AROUND EVERY TWO SECONDS??
Anyways, Sportacus says that to be a hero that he needs practice. Cue a hilarious montage between the two. They practice putting on goggles, superhero poses, the signature move, pushups, jumping over hurdles, running on the spot, skipping rope, kata, tennis, basketball, and Ziggy messes up a lot but Sportacus doesn't get angry. In the end, he ends up getting the ball in the hoop.
Ziggy is so inspired by Sportacus that he even stops eating his lollipop! It's nice to see some character development. Anyways, Robbie is once again sleeping outside (reused footage from Sleepless in LazyTown, which was shot just before this episode), probably ready to complain about the noise. Meanwhile, Trixie, Pixel & Stephanie are pulling up one of the walls of their treehouse using ropes, and Ziggy makes them lose hold of the ropes.
Trixie decides to give Ziggy the jobs of putting up curtains, because no normal person can mess that up.. except ZIGGY FLIPPING ZWEETS. He jumps through the window and the three have to get him out themselves.
Trixie wants to scold Ziggy (I would too), but he says he's fine, then he leans on the wall and their whole treehouse comes crashing down. LITERALLY. All their hard work destroyed all because of Ziggy.
Anyways, they restart working on the treehouse and sing Step by Step. Robbie is still on the bench trying to sleep when the kids start hammering (hey, go inside, much more quieter there!!) and he goes to complain about why they are building a treehouse. Then he mocks them when they talk about all the fun stuff they'll do there. Stefan Karl is hilarious. Anyways, they go get more wood.
Ziggy is considering joining the circus, but then he reveals his fear of elephants. I really don't blame him considering they can kill you with one stomp. He's sulking across the streets of LazyTown. Meanwhile, Robbie is working on his plan to cut a tree branch so it lands on the treehouse. Pretty smart!
Ziggy is in his bed by himself sad, but he remembers that they are his friends and they will want his help.
So.. Robbie's plan might've been smart, but he isn't. While cutting the tree with a saw, HE LITERALLY SITS on the tree. He also says that the tree is too strong. "What is this made outta, wood?"
Anyways, Sportacus' crystal beeps and he sees Robbie. Robbie asks for help.. then after he sees Sportacus he tells him to go away. I'd just cut the tree even more if I was him. That's what I like about Sportacus. Robbie hates him, but Robbie is in danger, and Sportacus saves him.
While Ziggy is near, the tree branch is hanging like a loose tooth and is about to fall on Robbie. He grabs a pole, puts it against the wall and jumps over the wall, pushing Robbie over.
Ziggy has did it - he finally saved someone that wasn't a lollipop. But Robbie is not grateful a single bit, so Trixie snaps a stick in half and Robbie jumps into Sportacus' arms. Robbie says that everything is so tiring, then he falls asleep. Now, I'm not shipping Sportarobbie or anything, but you can visibly see Sportacus feels bad for Robbie.
Sportacus puts him to sleep on the nearest wall, and tries to be as quiet as he possibly can. Then they sing the Bing Bang song as loud as they possibly can. Meanwhile, Robbie's sleep is interrupted by a fly. While swatting his hands, he falls off the wall. Thus marks the end of episode.
In all honesty, nothing special.

At first Danny tries to hide his powers from his parents.
He’s 10 and after years of hearing about Batman (aka Grandpa’s) ‘No Metas in Gotham’ rule from his classmates and the Batfams general communication issues, Danny thinks he will be forced to be a rogue if he reveals his powers.
Aunt Harley maybe cool but Danny does not want to be a rogue. He wants to be a hero (don’t tell Daddy it will make him mad) and go to the big super hero clubhouse in space his grandpa told him about.
DPXDC Prompt #41
This idea is for an AU where Danny is Jazz's and Jason’s son. They let Maddie and Jack baby sit him once and never again. Danny is like age 10 and of course his grandparents bring him down to the lab to see the ghost portal they just finished building. They try to turn it on but it doesn’t work, they head upstairs leaving the young kid alone downstairs, (they’ll alway be absent minded won’t they?)
Danny becomes a half ghost after the accident but somehow they don’t notice, they always did boast about how sound proof the lab was. Soon Jazz and Jason pick up their son and bring him home realizing after a while that he’s changed. Jason never wanted his children to have to fight and he strictly kept his family at arm’s length because he wants Danny to have a normal life. How will he react when he realizes that not helping someone in danger physically hurts his son?
